An action packed day on Capitol Hill with multiple crazy news making hearings. President Trump is in Pennsylvania talking about our defense capabilities. And Joe Biden wrote a book and people have some thoughts about it. All of that and so much more today on 10 Minute Drill. Everybody get up. Get up. The story of America is the story of an adventure. I can hear you. The rest of the world hears you. We are a nation under God, and I believe God intended for us to be free. With our support for Ukraine and the conflict with Russia and the ongoing situation in Iran, there's been a lot of conversation about America's defense capabilities. Senator Dave McCormick, who we love, hosted a summit up in Pennsylvania to discuss this with President Trump and other major officials. We're very grateful the President's coming. This is really about how we make his strategy of peace through strength an ongoing reality. We need to increase our defense spending. Here are some of the areas of our defense capabilities that they're particularly focused on. Areas of concern include our defense industrial base, with analysts considering that to be our biggest challenge because the war in Ukraine highlighted shortages in artillery shells, Patriot interceptors, Stinger missiles, Javelin missiles, and some long range precision munitions, but also our munition stockpiles. Potential conflicts with China could consume long range anti ship missiles, air defense interceptors, cruise missiles, precision guided bombs, but also major concerns about shipbuilding. The Navy faces challenges, including our aging fleet, maintenance backlogs, delays, building submarines, limited shipyard capacity, and Chinese shipyards producing commercial and naval vessels at a much faster pace. This has been a conversation for a long time and something President Trump focused on quite a bit during the campaign to replace Joe Biden. The fact that so much of our defense capabilities had been put on the back burner. So he is focused on investing more, but also investing more wisely and putting it in places that would help increase and deliver efficiency. This afternoon, we're announcing nearly $10 billion of new investments in our defense industrial base right here in the great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Now, as President Trump is talking about re engaging in Iran at a much more intense volume, these things become incredibly important. How quickly can we rebuild these munitions that we're using? But also for the longer term, the shipbuilding issue in particular is one that everyone is watching closely, particularly as we see more and more threats and concern about China and the South China Sea to our allies in that region and potentially a major issue with Taiwan. So these issues are very, very important right now. No time to waste. And so these kind of investments and conversations are incredibly valuable. Yesterday was an incredibly busy day on Capitol Hill. First off, Todd Blanche, the current Deputy Attorney General who is being considered to be Attorney general, met with the Senate Judiciary Committee, and it was naturally full of fireworks. Every appearance or dinner or speech that I give are cleared by ethics officials. So your attendance at that dinner was cleared by ethics officials. Everything that I do, I didn't ask you. Everything you do was your appearance at that dinner. You can ask the questions, but you cannot control my answers. I'm under oath and I can answer the questions. I choose to answer them now because people can be confirmed to a cabinet by a 51 seat majority, the minority party largely treats this as sort of window dressing. They don't really need to actually give serious consideration, and they never really were going to. But Democrats use this hearing to try and score a few points on Blanche. You, you didn't recuse yourself from that matter. You were willing. There's no reason to. From the proud boys matter, yes, it was. There are rules that say there are rules, and that's not one of them. Now, while some Republicans have raised questions about things like the weaponization fund and other issues that Todd Blanche has been indirectly tied to within the Trump administration, it's largely expected that he will be confirmed even by the narrow majority, with no Democrats likely to vote for him. Again, not a huge surprise. That's just sort of how Washington is now. The other major fireworks on Capitol Hill came from a hearing. Nick Shirley appearing before the Senate to talk about waste, fraud and abuse that he has uncovered. Well, yeah, it's been proven that a lot of the money in suitcases that left Minnesota went back into the hands of people inside Somalia. And for instance, in New York City, where I just did an expose exposing this adult daycare fraud, nobody at these daycares actually knows who the owner is. We've talked a lot about the importance of Nick Shirley and what he did to highlight just how widespread fraud is, particularly with things like the Quality Leering center in Minnesota and all of the different sort of fake health care providers that were taking millions of dollars from taxpayers and not actually serving anybody. Part of what made Nick Shirley's work so important is it highlighted this entire massive stream of fraud that people hadn't really given a lot of consideration to. And after Nick Shirley initially blew this out of the water, other people followed suit and found so much more of it. And one thing that's just really important to highlight here is, is the fact that American consumers see a connection between the prices they're paying for things and costs and fraud. A poll by the state Financial Officers foundation found that 83% of people connect waste, fraud and abuse to the affordability issues in their lives. Last thing I would say about this is it's incredibly notable that this has been Republicans trying to find waste, fraud and abuse and Democrats didn't even show up to this hearing. Chairman, wouldn't a Democrat go next since the Republican just testified if there were a Democrat here? Yes. So there's no Democrats present at a hearing about fraud. There doesn't appear to be a Yesterday we did a deep dive on the Michigan Senate race where Abdul Al said up to this point had been running away with the nomination despite being a virulent anti Semite, a Democrat socialist who supports crazy things like Medicare for all and you know, you know, canceling private health care and all sorts of crazy things. But against Haley Stevens, who's underwhelming and a little bit quirky, with a little bit of joy, a little bit of enthusiasm, a little bit of energy and a little bit of stick it to them. A new poll yesterday seems to have turned this race on its head. From the Detroit News, Haley Stevens 48% Abdul El Sayed, 41%. But the cross tabs in this poll, the breakdown by groups make this extra interesting because they follow a trend that we've been seeing with Democrat socialists around the country. Among black Democratic primary voters, Haley Stevens 67%, Abdul Al said 21%. And among white Democratic primary voters, Abdul Al said 51%, Haley Stevens 39%. There's a lot of factors playing into this. One is the fact that Abdul has taken a lot of heat these last few weeks for all the terrible things he's done. There's also been a lot of focus on the fact that he doesn't seem to like women. And apparently they found out. But the other issue here that we've been talking about quite bit a quite a bit, voters of color and lower income working class voters do not buy anything the DSA is selling. I was on Fox yesterday with Bernie Sanders, top advisor discussing this issue. And when I talked about the fact that there's not a lot of popularity among DSA policies among voters of color, he said this. In Michigan, it's incredibly diverse. And Denver it's been incredibly diverse. In New York City, Mamdani's coalition is very strong and you'd be scoffing at it, but it's growing across the country. Again, Abdul Al said is losing black voters by over 40%. So the coalition in Michigan is not very diverse. But as we've seen across the country There is more racial diversity in Sheldon White House's all White beach clubs than there are among actual DSA voters in any of these primaries. A prominent dynamic we've been seeing across America these last few years is businesses fleeing from blue states into red states. Texas has seen more growth in the last couple years than any time in their history. Whereas California is leading in the number one state. People are departing. And that's especially true of large companies. Gavin Newsom has tried to sort of navigate around this. Sometimes he blames other people. In this case he's blaming Elon for turning his back on California when he moved Tesla and SpaceX to Texas. One of the great disappointments been one of their biggest proponents supporters was regulation in California that created the conditions that allowed him to take the risk to become the multi billionaire maybe trillionaire that he's become. Consider the absurdity of suggesting that California regulations made all of Elon's success possible. It's so important to note that Elon had success in spite of California's incredibly insane regulatory environment that is driving a record number of companies out of the state. But just for good measure, here's a look at Elon's wealth growth before he left California. And then that area on the right is when Tesla headquarters moved from California to Texas. You see a little bit of a jumping off there. But it's also important to note that it wasn't just Gavin and California's regulations. Democrats in California were incredibly hostile to Elon Musk. This is a California elected assembly woman saying f Elon Musk and Elon back in 2020 saying, Message received. Just to wrap this up, here's a clip of Gavin Newsom talking about the state of capitalism. Something's fundamentally broken here and that wealth is creating power. Power locking in rules and regulations, locking everybody else out. But capitalism as we know it doesn't work either. First off, this is rich to hear from Gavin Newsom who literally just bought a nine million dollar mansion in Marin and is tied to all sorts of billionaire wealth and fortune. But also because California is a buzzsaw of waste, fraud and abuse that takes taxpayer dollars that are intended to make people's lives better in some way and feeds it into the NGO constellation that again somehow always ends up politically benefiting Gavin Newsom. So again, their beef shouldn't be with Elon Musk. Nobody in California is suffering because Elon Musk made a ton of money. They're suffering because terrible governance has allowed hundreds of billions of dollars to go out the door. Whether it's to high speed rail to nowhere or or all sorts of fraudulent programs. For our you can't make it up segment today, the news that every Democrat running in tight races around the country will be excited about. Joe Biden is writing a book. Pause there. Now one thing that is important to understand in the world of video editing is how important music could be. Because as you just watch this on mute as a lot of people who see this on autoplay on X did consider it with a different take on music. See, I like that because I feel like Democrats actually view Joe Biden writing a book and going on a book tour right before the midterms as the stuff of horror movies. But here's a little bit more about what he's actually announcing here. I've written a book about my time as president. It's called Promise Me America. Political dynamics aside, I think this is very interesting. There have not been a lot of demands for a Joe Biden book. The Jill Biden book had a lot of scandal because one day it was at the top of the charts and the next day it disappeared, which suggested there might have been some mass book sales and giveaways to try and manipulate the book lists and things like that. But I for one am very excited for Joe Biden to be out trying to sell this on TV right around the time people are voting in the midterms. And my big question is, what AI Bot did they connect to the Joe Biden autopen to do an entire book? We will find out. That is all the time we have for today.
