All eyes on Iran as we wait and see whether peace talks are going to happen this week in Pakistan. Zoran Mamdami's plan for government run grocery stores might put him at odds with his dear friend aoc. We will explain why. And it is officially Election Day in Virginia. And by later tonight, we will all know whether the worst gerrymander in the country is coming to be. All of that and so much more today on 10 Minute Drill. The story of America is the story of an adventure.
B
I can hear you. The rest of the world hears you. We are a nation under God, and I believe God intended for us to be free.
A
Yesterday we laid out a very busy and contentious weekend in the Strait of Hormuz and in Iran. Right now, we are expecting JD Vance to leave today to head to Pakistan for potential peace talks or. Iranian leadership has tried to hide the ball over the last few days of whether it would actually be attending the peace talks. And President Trump continues to try and navigate the challenge of negotiating with Iran's civilian leadership while the IRGC maintains independence from that. But the thing that we're all sort of watching to wait and see is if this is just another effort from Iran to try and run out the clock and drag things on as much as possible. President Trump appears to be making preparations for the very real possibility that these peace talks fall apart and we need to go back to shelling them into submission. And I think at the end of the day, some people may find that there is no path forward while the IRGC still has some kind of weapons, military and organization within Iran. Today is election day in Virginia and probably most of you are sick of hearing me talk about this. But yesterday on fox, Glenn Youngkin laid out his final pitch to Virginia voters.
C
And Virginia in 2020 held a constitutional referendum, amended our constitution to have nonpartisan independent redistricting. Two thirds of Virginians said we want politics out, politicians out. And now we have Abigail Spamberger saying she's going to ignore the voice of Virginians, override them, and try to adopt the most gerrymandered map in America.
A
A number of things we're watching today. I talked a little bit yesterday about the early voting performance, the fact that the no side, the anti gerrymandering side, had performed very well in early voting with a 3% advantage. The big thing to watch today is the, the independent voters, many of whom voted for Abigail Spamberger, who simply see this as unfair. One thing that I've been talking about quite a bit is the absurdity of these congressional maps. We did a contest for people to submit things they thought these congressional districts looked like. The one that was the clear winner was this Lobster District. This is the Virginia 7th district that
D
we're all talking about quite a bit,
A
because look at how ridiculous that map looks. But the part of this that isn't getting enough attention is that absurd map represents people in Virginia who deserve representation. And so I want to show you what it looks like to drive from one corner of it in Fairfax county all the way to the other side. Take a quick look at this map that I have taken from Google Maps. You'll see that it takes about three hours to drive from one corner of this, which is in Fairfax county, all the way to Augusta county, which is close to the border of West Virginia. This is all one district, but to get from one end to the other, you literally have to drive through five other congressional districts. That is how absurd this is. These people are not going to get any kind of representation.
D
If the people in Augusta county ever
A
hear from their former Fairfax County NGO consultant representative, I will be shocked. But for Democrats who have spent the last several years opining about representation, opining about democracy, this is not what democracy looks like.
D
And just let me take a minute
A
of personal privilege as a resident of Fairfax county. We're gonna pretend this is my campaign ad for the Vote no campaign. Hi, there.
D
My name's Matt.
A
I'm a Fairfax county dad of two, soon to be three, and I live
D
in the most dysfunctional county in North America.
A
We have to move before we send
D
our kids to school because our schools are taking more and more money, raising
A
more and more taxes.
D
But the performance is getting worse and worse and worse. And on top of that, there are significant areas. We can't go in one of this highest tax areas in the country because our radical prosecutors want to let criminals out of jail and our ridiculous cartoonish leadership won't let illegal immigrants get deported. So if you want the dysfunctional, ridiculous, cartoonish leadership of Fairfax county to control the entire commonwealth, then vote yes. But if you're looking at Fairfax county and seeing. Wait a sec, that's a lot like what happened to California. Vote no. That is my campaign ad.

Yesterday we talked a little bit about the Democrats that went to Europe to bash President Trump alongside a group of their fellow socialists and communists. A little bit more background on this. This event was hosted by Alex Soros, son of George Soros. It was an honor to welcome so many incredible leaders and advocates to Barcelona for the inaugural Global Progressive Summit. Take a look at Chris Murphy here. I've watched this a few times now. I've followed Chris Murphy for a long time. I worked in the Senate. I heard him speak up close. He always slurs his words a little bit, but this is next level.
E
I'm not going to sugarcoat the gravity of what we face right now in the United States. This is the most significant threat to American democracy since the Civil War. Donald Trump in our country is trying to end our democracy. We are not on the verge of a totalitarian takeover. We are in the middle of it.
A
He's not gonna sugarcoat it at all, guys. Chris Murphy went to Europe to drink wine and bash Donald Trump alongside a group of socialists who live in literal failed states.
D
So again, Chris Murphy's giving everyone an
A
opportunity to see what happens.
D
If you put more people like Chris
A
Murphy in power, it's gonna look a lot like the failed state of Spain. But not to be outdone, we've got Tim of the feminine products Waltz also there.
C
Got a feeble minded, trigger happy president who plunged us into a war where no threat was present with no clear
E
objectives and no exit plan.
C
We need to call that what it is.
A
That's fascism. Now I'll remind you, Tim Waltz is a teacher, and based on that, he clearly doesn't know what the word fascism means. Again, not great for the look of Minnesota schools, but neither of these guys can explain what they think the threat is. But as I mentioned a little bit yesterday, there used to be a common principle that politics stopped at water's edge. For these Democrats to go to Europe to sit alongside communists from failed states, to bash Donald Trump as a threat to the world is more than a little bit absurd. But I would just ask, who is the constituency for this? Who's watching Chris Murphy slurring his words in Europe and thinking, that's the dude. I want to lead my party. It's very hard for me to imagine. But also when you look at Tim Walt's talk, it's easy to understand why that guy was such an anchor on Kamala Harris 2024 presidential ticket. Yesterday we laid out a little bit of what Congress is looking at this week. FISA reauthorization, a potential reconciliation bill to find out how to navigate around Democrats shutdown of dhs. Another key thing that people are watching for this week in the Senate is a critical piece of crypto legislation called the Clarity Act. Now, I won't pretend to be a crypto expert, but what this bill intends to do is provide structural clarity and reg clarity for how crypto should work within the larger financial system. It's seen as one of the most important steps for how crypto and digital currencies integrated into our financial system. It's about innovation, it's about flexibility. Again, I'm not a huge crypto investor because I don't pretend I totally understand how it all works, but I can see why this would be a positive thing for the entire financial industry. However, there's a lot of pressure right now because big banks do not like crypto. We've been talking about big banks for a long time here and the fact that on every single issue they seem to be a laying across the train tracks to block innovation. They're trying to block the adoption of all kinds of family budgeting apps and payment processing apps because they want to be able to control all of that. The same thing goes for crypto. And so right now it looks like big banks are lobbying very, very hard to try and delay, if not crush, the Clarity act. Whereas the crypto industry and the Trump administration is trying very, very hard to get the Senate to move forward on this critical bill and hopefully hold a markup this week that will achieve one of President Trump's top goals for cryptocurrency in the financial industry in America. We talked a little bit about Zoron's very creepy joker impression about wanting to tax the rich.
D
When I ran for mayor, I said I was gonna tax the rich. Well, today we're taxing the rich.
A
The next key part of Zoron's socialist agenda is government run grocery stores. We've talked a little bit about why that's ridiculous. They're going to spend tens of millions of dollars. They don't have to have government control. First build and then control something they don't really need to control, which is grocery stores. And it's going to cause a whole lot of problems. But one that he might not have intended is going to war with the bodegas. Now, the biggest advocate for bodegas you've likely ever heard of is Zoran's dear friend AOC.
F
We just got back from D.C. yesterday and so I'm ready for a bodega hit. I'm ready for my coffee now.
A
Once government starts making their own grocery stores, they're going to undercut these bodegas and any community grocery stores that don't have the government backed advantages that they have. Here's from the Wall Street Journal. One advantage the government run operations have is they can operate with subsidized capital while paying no taxes and no need to make a profit. The city will pick up any rental costs. This means the Mondami Marts will be able to undercut prices at the private grocery stores and bodegas in their neighborhoods. This kind of collectivist competition isn't what the other store owners would call warm. That is a reference to Zoron's warmth of collectivism. Now I'm excited to see how this plays out. Government grocery stores are stupid for so many reasons. Imagine the ads for a government run grocery store. Do you enjoy your time at the dmv? Let's also make your grocery store experience like that. But the AOC Zoron war will be a fun one to watch. We have been on Kamala watch for the last few weeks and for our you can't make it up segment today we want to highlight a video that she released during her very strange tour of the South.
F
Hey everyone. So I'm here in Charlotte. Since the start of Trump's war of choice, it's 15 more dollars every time you fill up your tank of gas.
A
Now you'll note in that video the gas station price marked is $3.97. Many eagle eyed people pointed out the fact that that that's actually significantly lower than it was under Kamala Harris as Vice President. First from Congresswoman Claudia Tenney. This is the same gas station under the Biden Harris administration. Maybe the Democrats should keep her in the basement like they did Joe and you'll see $4.53 there. I'd also note that the highest national average under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris was $5.06. So a full dollar higher than what we're seeing under President Trump. And the other key difference there is Joe Biden and Kamala Harris drove up gas prices intentionally to force you into electric vehicles you didn't want and couldn't afford. The gas prices that we're seeing right now is because we are currently fighting against the world's foremost state sponsor of terror who have killed thousands of Americans and we expect it to be short lived and Joe Biden Kamala Harris cannot say the same thing. That is all the time we have for today. Thank you so much for joining us on 10 Minute Drill. Please leave us a review like subscribe tell your friends and have a great day.
