Are the goalposts moving on a deal to end the shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security, the hilarious reason Democrats had to cancel a debate in California. And we're going to look at some of the most dishonest things. Voters in Virginia are hearing about the gerrymandering nuclear option. All of that and so much more today on 10 Minute Drill. Everybody get up.
B
Get up.
A
The story of America is the story of an adventure. I can hear you. The rest of the world hears you. We are nation under God, and I believe God intended for us to be free. Yesterday we outlined what Republicans have put forward as a deal to fund the Department of Homeland Security and end the chaos we're seeing in airports around the country, where we're seeing both very long lines, five to eight hours in some of the largest airports, but also TSA agents facing a third paycheck. And we're gonna talk a little bit about that part in just a minute. But first, on this deal, Democrats took a very long time to get together and basically say, we are not getting enough out of this. And the bottom line that you need to understand is Democrats want this to extend and create as much pain for as long as possible. Yesterday, Democrats finally countered and said they have more demands now. The Republican offer was to fund all of DHS but leave out ICE enforcement, which would be a chip to the Democrats who have said we're not funding ICE without these nine or 10 reforms. So Republicans already moved way in saying we won't fund ICE enforcement, but Democrats are now saying we will not take yes for an answer. And they're saying we will not vote to reopen the Department of Homeland Security until nine or more other major, major new changes to ICE are included in law, including things that we've talked about, which are poison pills. For those of you who don't know, a poison pill is something that you put into a negotiation knowing it's going to blow everything up, because they are non starters in this case. Two of the prominent ones that have been discussed are things like no masks on ICE agents, which puts ICE agents in major danger. The second one being judicial warrants, which would essentially hamstring ICE from ever being able to arrest an illegal immigrant again. We know that the larger aim for Democrats here is to stop all immigration enforcement and they're willing to hold all of DHS hostage to do that. Meanwhile, at airports, two major things are happening. One, people waiting in lines are getting pretty vocal about who they blame for this.
B
What do you want Congress to know who have the ability to Shut this down and reopen and have TSA agents come back to work. I think Chuck Schumer should be ashamed of himself.
A
And that woman at the airport isn't the only person who seems to be blaming Chuck Schumer. A number of House Democrats are growing more and more concerned at what Senate Democrats led by Chuck Schumer are doing in continuing this hostage exercise. Three moderate House Dems, Josh Gottheimer, Don Davis and Adam Gray just met with Senator Katie Britt, a key GOP negotiator on DHS funding. Gottheimer has a separate framework he's pitching. He initiated the meeting. So you've got a number of House Democrats working around Chuck Schumer. Because as we said yesterday, Chuck Schumer is the problem. Chuck Schumer knows that if they reopen dhs, he's going to get so much pushback from the lunatic Jennifer Welsh drunk wine mom base on the Internet that he's going to keep this closed as long as possible. And we know that's true, but because that's exactly what has happened in every previous shutdown. Meanwhile, TSA and a number of other DHS departments leadership were on the Hill to testify.
B
The acting TSA administrator testifying just moments ago that the agency is suffering the highest wait times in the history of that agency. More than 480 employees have quit. TSA has been shut down for nearly 50% of fiscal year 2026. Agents are sleeping in cars, missing payments, receiving eviction notices. This is real stuff.
A
One House member that we've talked about before here, Shrith Anadar, he thought that he could push TSA and say, how do you guys feel about the President sending in ICE to do your jobs? But the exchange did not go the way that he hoped it would. How does TSA plan to rebuild its TSO workforce when the administration keeps attacking it and now telling TSO's that untrained ICE agents can do a better job than they can.
B
I'm extremely thankful to the President for recognizing the crisis that we are in and leveraging assets across the Department of Homeland Security to assist our agency in this very difficult time.
A
Meanwhile, in Philadelphia, a name you may remember, Larry Krasner, the District Attorney of Philadelphia, most famous for doing everything he can to let violent criminals out of jail when went to the airport to threaten ice. I will put you in handcuffs and I will put you in a courtroom. And if necessary, I will put you in a jail cell if you decide to make the terrazzo floor of this airport anything like what you did. In the streets of Minneapolis. Now, remember, Larry Krasner's job is to prosecute criminals. And if he cared about prosecuting criminals, as much as he loves yelling at law abiding Americans and ICE agents trying to enforce the law, you would see a lot less crime in Philadelphia. Moving over to Virginia, one dynamic that I have been tracking very closely is all the different ways Virginia Democrats are trying to mislead or downright lie to voters to keep them from knowing what they're actually doing with this gerrymandering nuclear option referendum that people are voting on right now. First, from the Daily Wire, Democrat admits to unfair maps while keeping voters in the dark. Virginia election office rules that maps shouldn't be displayed before citizens vote on it. What does it say? That Virginia Democrats don't want people to look at the map that they are voting on. They have already framed the question as restoring fairness again, which is intended to gaslight people into believing this is about fairness. And in order to have fairness, you need to let ridiculous Democrats who have lost three to four different elections draw their own districts to compete in. But in addition to that, people cannot see the maps when they vote on this. They'll say you can go home and Google it and try and find a PDF and zoom in really far and see the maps. The problem here is they know if people see how absurd these maps are, they'll know that this is a giant political con job. But the next thing, if you Google early voting Virginia, you'll see an ad calling on people to vote yes on April 21st. And underneath that, the first line, it's not gerrymandering. It actually is textbook gerrymandering. But Democrats know that the more people understand about what's actually happening in this referendum, the less likely they are to vote for it. And this is funded by the dark money group Virginians for Fair Maps, which we're gonna get to in just a second. But another piece of gaslighting comes in a video from Governor Abigail Spanberger.
B
I'm Governor Abigail Spanberger, and I'm voting yes on Virginia's redistricting amendment. It's temporary. It preserves Virginia's fair redistricting process.
A
Now, they're really leaning into this idea that it's temporary and that it preserves the. The fair redistricting process, because the fair redistricting process was overwhelmingly supported by Virginians just a few years ago. And Abigail Spamberger and every Democrat said it was critical to preserving democracy. And yet now they are shelving it, shoving it off of a bridge to have this nuclear option of gerrymandering it is preserving the fair process in the same way that if I drove my car off a bridge and it sat at the bottom of a lake, I could say it's being preserved for another time, even though I can't use it. It's growing mold and doesn't work anymore. But Democrats know that if you understand what is actually happening here, you will not vote for this. Glenn Youngkin responded to Spamberger's video. This is a lie, a blatant lie, not to mention a complete reversal of your campaign promises. This unconstitutional power grab will permanently rig Virginia's congressional maps and disenfranchise millions of Virginians. Virginia vote no. But the last thing you need to understand here is there is a massive funding disparity between the Democrat side and the Republican side. And we've talked about this a little bit, that the Democrats have brought in money from every left wing dark money group in the universe. This from Americans for Public Trust. Millions have been poured into Virginia's redistricting fight with a majority of funds stemming from liberal dark groups, 33 million in favor versus 3 million opposed. A massive funding gap in the redistricting fight. Now you'll see that this comes from a lot of sort of mysteriously named groups like the Fairness Project, which usually is just a clearinghouse for all sorts of dark money entities, including foreign dark money from people like foreign pervert Hans Joerg wies. But another 5 million in that comes directly from George Soros. So again, this is the OK Corral for every left wing dark money group out there. And their goal is if they can take full control of Virginia with this 10 to 1 outrageous map, it will literally become worse than California. California has fairer maps than what we're going to see in Virginia. Massachusetts has fairer maps than what we're going to see in Virginia. And so again, Democrats are trying to treat this like the game is already over, but people like New York Times are reporting they have a tough slog ahead because they have to lie to a whole lot of people to get this to work. For our you can't make it up segment today, there's a funny story out of California. We followed that governor's race closely. The fact that right now in the full polling slate, Republicans actually hold the top two spots and Democrats are split among five to seven different weirdos, ranging from Katie Porter, who poured boiled potatoes on her husband and yells at staffers, to Eric Swalwell, who had relationships with a Chinese spy, to three to five other people now they had to cancel a debate this week because there were not enough candidates of color who made the polling threshold to be on the debate stage.
B
A California governor's debate has been canceled at the University of Southern California after facing backlash for only including white candidates.
A
That is a pretty rough scene to not be able to make the debate stage when you're running against that clown car of Democrats. But again, California is a pretty messed up state right now and we hope somebody can sneak through there and turn it around. That is all the time we have for today.
