President Trump heads to Iowa to kick off his midterm affordability pitch. We're talking about the latest in Iran. Have they crossed President Trump's red line? And what does that mean? And there has been a bit of an overnight shift in Minnesota. We are going to cover all that and so much more today on another special Wednesday 10 minute drill.

Started, this comes at the same time as Senate Majority Leader John Thune and A group of 15 Senate Republicans are also hitting the road to tout the wins in the big, beautiful bill and their Republican agenda. One of the key priorities of President Trump and Republicans is to highlight the fact that upcoming tax returns over the next few months are full of incentives from the one big beautiful bill that should leave more cash in people's pockets. The Treasury Department has estimated that people will see $1,000 more in their returns this year than they saw last year. Last week, we covered the early activity of the white witch of Virginia, new Governor Abigail Spamberger. She is not done yet. For example, there is a new proposal from Virginia Democrats to ban any immigration enforcement within 40ft of a polling place. Now, why would Democrats want to bar immigration activity near a polling place when on the books it's already illegal for immigration, illegal immigrants to vote in our elections. Anyone can guess. But the other issue area that she's really focused in on is the second amendment. There is a new proposal. Virginia's SB749 has been amended to in part, remove the grandfather clause. For current magazine owners, keeping any mag that can hold more than 10 rounds would be a class one misdemeanor, punishable by up to 12 months in prison. Now, to explain that most handguns or personal defense guns in America have magazines that are more than 10 rounds. My handguns at home have 15 to 17 rounds. They are the most common magazine size that people own. Virginia wouldn't just ban future sales of them. This current proposal would make it illegal to own the ones that people already have. And some are arguing this is not going to hold up in court. This is a blatant violation of Supreme Court precedent and it will not stand. Now that is Harmeet Dhillon, the assistant Attorney General in the Civil Rights Division in the Department of Justice. So that's a pretty good indication that this will get challenged and potentially get held up in court. But it's important to note what Democrats are trying to do there. Last week, we talked about the fact that Democrats in Virginia are trying to get rid of mandatory minimums for crimes like rape, manslaughter, possession of child pornography. So it's important to note what they're doing here. At the same time as they're making it more difficult to put away violent criminals in jail, they're also making it more difficult for you to. To defend yourself and exercise your Second Amendment rights. Back to Minneapolis overnight. Between Monday night and Tuesday, President Trump had announced he had successful phone calls with Minnesota Governor Tim Waltz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Fry. And he said they were receptive to his entreaties to, one, assist in removing dangerous, violent, criminal illegal immigrants, but second, in allowing ICE to carry out the job that they're trying to do. We don't know exactly what was agreed to, but we do know is overnight there was a shift in how police officers in Minnesota do their jobs. First, here's the hotel where ICE agents in Minneapolis were staying on Sunday night. As you can see, these rioters are destroying this hotel where ICE agents are staying. They're blowing their whistles, they're honking their horns, trying to make life impossible and doing vandalism to a hotel. And the police are not doing anything about it. Well, here is those police around that same hotel area on Monday night. You are now under arrest. Please sit down and wait for instruction. Do you notice a difference there? The police are allowed to be police and to stop rioters from destroying the city. If it was this easy for Jacob Fry and Tim Waltz to allow the police to step in, why weren't they doing this the entire time? It's very clear that that they had previously restricted the police from doing anything that might help ice, not just in carrying out immigration operations, but even protecting ICE from violent attacks from agitators. There have been reports that the Minneapolis police dispatch had been instructed to ignore any calls related to ice. If the police had been doing their job the entire time, doing some kind of crowd control, preventing agitators from physically confronting ICE agents, the way that we saw two incidents turn tragic, would they have happened at all? We may never know. But it is important to understand how quickly, overnight this was able to change. It reminds me a little bit of when Joe Biden said he couldn't do anything about the open border by himself. He needed Congress to pass a law because he wanted Congress to go out first and pass a bill. When they didn't do it, he used executive authority. And almost overnight, we saw border crossings slow down almost immediately. So just like Joe Biden, the Tim Waltz and Jacob Fry were willing to allow their constituents to get into dangerous situations to push their political goals. And it's very, very tragic to see. We've talked a little bit about how the agitators in Minneapolis have tried to pressure businesses to take political positions against President Trump, against ice, against immigration enforcement. And it's been interesting to see how many of those companies have resisted. But one person who's very mad about those companies resisting is former Democrat presidential candidate Tom Steyer. American CEOs, if you haven't stood up, shut up. Now, that is billionaire climate activist Tom Steyer. And if there's anyone who can feel and channel the energy of the grassroots in this country, it is billionaire climate activist Tom Steyer. But a group of companies put out a statement over the weekend that many have lauded as a good view of what a post left wing captured corporate America actually looks like. We've been working for generations to build a strong and vibrant state here in Minnesota and will do so in the months and years ahead with equal and even greater commitment in this difficult moment for our community. We call for peace and focused cooperation among local, state and federal leaders to achieve a swift and durable solution that enables families, businesses, our employees and communities across Minnesota to resume our work to build a bright and prosperous future. Now, what do you not hear in that statement? You don't hear political condemnations, the kind of charged rhetoric that many corporations made in 2020, 202021 and 2022 under pressure from left wing groups to take the kind of political positions that cut off half of the country from them. And so it's a breath of fresh air that companies have thrown off those shackles of left wing dominance. And one person who's praising them for it is former Attorney General Bill Barr. Trump's former AG praises business leaders for standing firm amid ICE protests. He notes that they didn't bow to the political pressure. And you've been hearing about that pressure for a while now. They had astroturfed pastors all holding court in lobbies. They had all sorts of ransom demands. We've seen activists go into Target, fill up carts with hundreds of things and then go immediately to the return to force employees to spend all day restocking things just to try and make life difficult. And all these companies have stood strong and said our goal here is peace. We encourage leaders all over the place to work together cause we don't really wanna be political footballs and I think that is a positive thing. Over the last few weeks, the entire world has been watching the situation unfolding in Iran where the violent, brutal regime has been cracking down violently on protesters. This from time Iran protest death toll could top 30,000 according to local health officials. Over the last few weeks, President Trump has been putting out strong signals to the Iranian protesters that help was on the way and many have interpreted his warnings to the Iranian regime that if they killed protesters they would be crossing a red line. Here's what the Hill wrote. Trump grapples with red lines in Iran as protests crushed for now, President Trump has also continued to warn Iran that we have an armada surrounding it. But at the same time he is also announcing that Iran wants to make a deal with him for peace. What that peace would look like, we're not really sure, but it would likely mean some form of the Iranian Ayatollah leadership maintaining some kind of power when what the people protesting on the ground really want is them overthrown completely. Mark Thiessen, Washington Post columnist, warns this failure to enforce his red line with Iran and negotiate a nuclear deal instead would repeat exactly what Obama did when he failed to enforce his Syria red line and then negotiated a chemical weapons deal, a deal Syria later violated. Trump is not Obama. I don't believe he'll flinch like Obama did. So as President Trump continues to warn Iran and continue to position military assets around Iran, but also discuss a potential deal, all eyes are on the unrest in that region. For our you can't make it up segment today we have two major Democrat thought leaders discussing what they think Democrats should focus on should they win in the midterms and then the next presidential in 2028. That is former CNN anchor Jim Acosta and former Bravo interior decorator turned major Democrat thought leader and podcast host Jennifer Welsh.
Donald Trump
The Democrats ought to be talking about expanding the Supreme Court and impeaching and well, they should certainly be talking about impeaching. I think impeaching some justices.
Host
Now it's important to note that even though these are two crazy people, they are prominent left wing thought leaders. Jennifer Welsh's podcast will be a must stop for every Democrat who runs for president in 2028. And the idea of packing the Supreme Court is not new. Democrats have been threatening this for a while. Pete Buttigieg talked about it on the stump just a few weeks ago. And even Democrats in the Senate have talked about wanting to do this if they ever get back into power. And if they do that, all hell will break loose. That is all the time we have for today. Thank you so much for joining us here on 10 Minute Joe. Please leave us a review, tell your friends, and we will see you tomorrow.
