Iran is bombing people again. We have a little bit more analysis from Tuesday night's California elections because the third world state of California is still counting votes. And Secretary of State Marco Rubio eats more members of Congress alive in another fiery congressional hearing. All of that and so much more today on 10 Minute Drill.
B
Everybody get up. Get up. The story of America is the story of an adventure. I can hear you. The rest of the world hears you. We are a nation under God, and I believe God intended for us to be free.
A
Yesterday, Iran got back to their old tricks of trying to bomb people. This time, it was Kuwait and Bahrain. Hey, guys. Good morning. Overnight, Iran attacked Kuwait and Bahrain with missiles and drones. At least one person was killed and more than 60 wounded, in addition to significant damage caused to the international airport in Kuwait. The There were also reports that Iran tried to attack the United States personnel with drones. This from centcom. US Partner forces defend against aggressive Iranian behavior. No US Personnel were harmed. CENTCOM forces remain vigilant and ready to defend against unwarranted Iranian aggression during the ongoing cease fire. Unwarranted Iranian aggression during the ongoing cease fire. Now, if that phrase is a little bit confusing to you, you're not alone, because this is the ceasefire where nobody really ever ceased firing. And that's been a challenge for President Trump to explain around the world, particularly as these Gulf countries have been attacked by Iran. And we've tried to say, actually this doesn't meet the threshold of violating the cease fire, even though in a lot of cases it feels like it does. And President Trump was asked specifically about this yesterday, and here's what he said.
C
So how do you define ceasefire?
B
Pretty much the way it is. It's a different part of the world. You know, I'd say in that part of the world, cease fires when you're shooting in a more moderate manner.
A
Yesterday we talked about the immediate election results in California. Now, I should again say immediate election results are a bit of a misnomer in California, because the third world state of California can take weeks to count election results. But as we reported, it looked pretty clearly like the governor's race was headed to a runoff between Steve Hilton and Javier Becerra. And the LA mayors race was heading to a runoff between Karen Bass, or as she's sometimes referred to as Karen Basuda, and Spencer Pratt. And so we wanted to give just a tiny bit more analysis of where these things stand. We've talked about the fact here that virtually none of the Biden administration employees that served with Becerra wanted to endorse him. On the contrary, many of them came out and specifically said he is not qualified for this job. But the reason that he is the top Democrat going into this runoff is in part through process of elimination, when people like Eric Swalwell, who may have even been worse for the job but also happened to be caught as a pervert, was essentially eliminated. But then you also have Katie Porter, who we want to say a fond farewell to because she has given us so much great content here at 10 Minute Drill to work with.
D
Get out of my shot, 60% of the vote.
E
So you don't.
D
I feel like this is unnecessarily argumentative. What is your question?
A
Well, to those voters. Okay, so you.
D
I don't want to keep doing this. I'm going to call it. Thank you.
A
In the LA mayors race, we are now at a sort of one on one between Spencer Pratt and Karen Bass. Spencer Pratt has a number of tough questions to answer. He would have liked to actually see his numbers be a little bit higher on this first election night to be able to sort of show he can compete in this final race with Karen Bass, who has a much larger infrastructure and the fact that she has a D by her name as a Democrat. So from this point forward, we're gonna see if Spencer Pratt can actually have the kind of serious campaign to show that he's more than sort of the Internet sensation that's gotten him this far. There's clearly energy behind him. There's clearly a palpable feeling from people that they deserve better than the absolute failures of Karen Bass. So again, forgive us for doing a similar segment two days in a row, but we need to go back to Secretary Rubio, who was on Capitol Hill yesterday for his second of two days of congressional oversight. Hear this set of hearings yesterday was in the US House of Representatives. And for those of you who know me well know I don't hold that place in the highest regard. I think in many cases it would serve our country better if it was a parking lot, an open gym space, maybe a storage facility for people who work on the Senate side. I don't know. But the hearing yesterday really validated all of my opinions on this.
E
Let me tell you, wasn't going in there is because I was being hijacked.
D
I reclaim my time because propaganda ain't gonna work with me.
E
Well, it isn't gonna work with me either. And what you're saying is probably.
A
Now that phrase reclaiming my time you're gonna hear in all of these videos. And it is One of my greatest pet peeves in the world. Because at some point in the last 10 years, Democrat women decided that this phrase, reclaiming my time, was their sort of new fight song. It's their way of reclaiming power against the speakers. But really what it means is, I don't actually want you to answer any of my questions. I'm here to give speeches, not to actually inform the public with some. Someone like Secretary Rubio, who's the Secretary of State, who's testifying to Congress at a time of war. And yet Democrats would rather hear themselves talk than listen to his answers.
D
I'm gonna have to reclaim time and
E
time again, because what kind of process is this? They get to ask questions you don't get to answer.
D
It's my time. The question I don't know about you, when is it?
A
My time is really important.
E
So why am I here if I don't get to answer your questions or your defamatory requirements?
A
I'm reclaiming my time, but I want to reclaim.
E
Well, do I get time?
A
This was a constant theme. Is these Democrats saying insane things to Rubio. He tries to respond, and they say, reclaiming my time in the most shrill and annoying way possible, and they're not even making good points. That was Rep. Kammler Dove, who I'd never heard of before in my life and I probably will never hear of again. But at the end of her questions, she left the room before Rubio even had the time allotted to him to respond, which, again, is just a reminder that these people are theater kids giving speeches who have no interest in actually doing their jobs. But here's another one that really stuck out to me.
D
You can't say that the president lost the 2020 election, just like you won't admit President Trump is losing this reckless war of choice. And just like you couldn't admit that the shoes the President bought you were too big.
E
I don't know what shoes she's talking about. What is she talking about?
A
Now, a little background on this Representative Sarah Jacobs that I learned from Wikipedia right before this, because I do not pretend to understand who very many of these people in the House of Representatives are. This is a Nepo baby Congresswoman whose father bought her seat in Californ. So you can't expect her to be a very serious person, which is why she used very important time in the House Foreign Affairs Committee with the Secretary of State talking about the 2020 election and his shoes. Again, deeply unserious people, but the final boss of House of Representatives, unserious people. Is Ted Lieu, have you been at classified meetings where Donald Trump has fallen asleep or trouble staying awake?
E
I've never been at any meeting where you're fine. And the things you're showing me now, he was not falling asleep and I
A
think so you're lying again. You're lying consistently to Congress. Now Ted Lieu is arguing based on a media photo that he saw of President Trump looking down in a meeting, that the president's falling asleep in meetings and Secretary Rubio is saying, I was sitting next to him, I know he wasn't asleep, blah, blah, blah. But Ted Lieu needs to sort of make some video content here for him to push on social media, which of course he did. Take a look at that. On that same topic of Democrats being sort of irksome, irritating and unpopular, Harry Anton has another polling nugget that I think really illustrates where we are right now in the political world. Normally at this time in a midterm cycle, the party in power is really sweating what's going to come in November because that's just how history has always worked. America has a sort of short term relationship fixation with parties in power and normally the other party wins. But one thing Republicans are feeling pretty good about right now is the fact that Democrats have one of their lowest approval ratings in history. One thing that's driving that is Democrats feelings about their own party right here.
C
I mean Democrats, net approval of congressional Democrats. Look at this. In October 2025, right, during that shutdown, that first shutdown, plus 22 points on the net approval rating. So Democrats, okay, fairly satisfied with Democrats in Congress today though. Look at that. That is an over 30 point drop, a decline right in to the ocean right there, minus nine points. And I will note it had never been negative. Democrats had always had a positive net approval rating of their own party in Congress and every Congress before this one.
A
It is not surprising that you see so many Democrats wanting their party to move to the center when they look at who's on the rise in their party right now. This is the Zoran Mamdani moment. When you look at candidates around the country, whether it's Graham Plattner who is campaigning with Bernie Sanders, whether it is Abdul Al Sayed, another person who's a Bernie acolyte. Zoran, that Democrat socialist sort of group of Democrats is on the rise right now. They're winning primaries, they're beating incumbents and moderate Democrats and Democrats at home are looking at this, saying this primary structure that incentivizes radicalism doesn't represent me. But for Democrats it is only going to get worse before it gets better. Because if you look at the initial 2028 jostling, it's already a race to the left. You have people like Ro Khanna who somehow, because this is a town where no one has any self awareness whatsoever, thinks he might run for President. He has said it is a deal breaker for any Democrat running in the primary to have voted for the Lake and Riley act which is a bill that forces the deportation of violent criminal illegal immigrants. So just like in 2020 how Democrats campaigned on taxpayer funded sex change surgery for detained illegal immigrants, you have people like Ro Khanna and that Zoran wing already setting these litmus tests that are going to force Democrats further and further to the left and farther and farther away from their own base as this poll shows. Because it's a nice fun Thursday, we wanted to take a quick minute and thank people for their reviews, particularly those 5 star reviews or reviews that come with a little bit of feedback. First from Apple Podcasts. This is from SSL316 five star review. Great show, new listener. Really enjoy the show. Love that so much news can be packed into 10 minutes. This from Papa M. Great 10 minutes. Great podcast Matt packs in the facts in a short amount of time over on YouTube. Joe Rainier 5559 Love your content dude. Keep on rocking my friend. From Tony Henschel, I am looking forward to this week's updates. Thanks for what you do and the way you do it. Thank you guys for this feedback. We appreciate it. Please, when you have a second log in, give us that five star rating and review. Let us know what you'd like to hear more of. We always appreciate that and as you can tell, we try and actually follow that feedback for our Can't Make it up segment today. At the risk of overwhelming you with hearing content, I wanted to highlight an exchange between Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant and Oregon Senator Ron Wyden. Now one thing that you have seen throughout these hearings in this administration is the fact that every Democrat sees a hearing as an opportunity to create viral content. And so they come in with prepared lines and they want to try and get a good takedown that might get picked up on Ms. Now or some left wing podcast things like that. Well, the Trump administration officials have also been preparing themselves and I've never seen before Cabinet secretaries come before Congress prepared with opposition research of their own. But Secretary Besant responded to some initial attacks from Wyden with this Senator Wyden
F
has mendaciously slandered the treasury building in an attempt to cover up his son having an investment meeting with Jeffrey Epstein to ask for funding. Thank you.
A
Yikes. Now, Senator Wyden himself had a little prepared, scripted response to it. And Secretary Bessen also chewed that up and spit it out.
E
Nobody is interested in the ramblings of a capo in the most corrupt regime in American history.
C
We want to get some facts about this deal.
E
That's what we're here for. Thank you.
B
Well, thank you. And I will ask my questions first today.
F
And we would like to hear what Adam Wyden and Jeffrey Epstein talked about. Your son's largest investment position was Rick's Cabaret. So did your son and Jeffrey Epstein talk about pole dancing as he begged him for money using your limited credibility?
A
Now, the most important of this exchange is what happens right after this. The chairman of the committee, Mike Crapo, a really, really good guy, a Republican, whispers to Ron Wyden. You can hear it in this video. Do you wanna respond to that or do you wanna proceed?
D
Should I just proceed?
B
I'm going to proceed with my questions.
A
Wyden knew that he had enough. And then he'd bit off more than he could chew. This is a reminder to Democrats. These hearings exist so that you can get questions and answers to help the American people, not so you can just create more lecturing video content that people have already had enough of. That is all the time we have for today. Thank you for joining us for another great week of 10 minute drill. Please, like subscribe, leave us a review, leave us a rating, tell your friends and have a great weekend.
