Major primaries in New York could determine the future of the Democrat Party happening today, day two of the negotiations with Iran and Switzerland. And we're going to look at the continued failed defense of Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner, along with some World cup fans, a great Kamala Harris, word salad and so much more today on 10 Minute Drill. Everybody get up.
Co-host
Get up.

The story of America is the story of an adventure.
Politician 1
I can hear you. The rest of the world hears you. We are a nation under God, and I believe God intended for us to be free.
Host
Kicking off today, I want to first pay tribute to the Obama library opening and the fact that it opened with a land acknowledgement.
Politician 2
We'd also like to take a moment to recognize the original inhabitants of the land upon which we are gathered today. We honor the Anishinaabe, the Council of Three Fires, the Ojibwe, the Odawa and the Potawatomi nations.
Host
Now, you may remember that a lot of Democrats have tried to dismiss land acknowledgements as some crazy, outlandish thing that never happens anywhere but DSA events. The fact that it's happening at the Obama library opening tells you exactly where that party is. But first, today we go to the Iran negotiations happening in Switzerland and a little bit of additional intel about the oil relief that they're getting.
Politician 2
The United States is waiving sanctions on energy and the attendant ability banking to facilitate that economic benefit. That's going to go straight to the irgc. And the irgc, of course, wants that money immediately because of the success of Operation Epic Fury.
Host
Javier Blass from Bloomberg also added this. It may only last 60 days. I doubt it likely would become permanent. But the US Treasury's waiver is effectively rolling back 40 years plus of American oil sanctions against Iran. Even US refiners are allowed to import Iranian oil and pay for it in greenback. So this is a very big deal that Iran is getting this big of a benefit this early on without actually showing any progress on their end of commitments. But we know Vice President Vance is dead set on making this deal work and trying to sort of save face for this MoU. But one thing that his team is going to have to do a really good job of is highlighting the fact that they're actually making progress on a more firm reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. They did announce that inspectors will get access to Iran to see the nuclear material, but there are still tons of questions about how that's going to work, particularly as that nuclear material is well underground and Iran's nuclear program is illegal. And so allowing those inspectors in is baseline. It's not a huge victory that should grant them this level of upfront relief. In New York today, voters are going to the polls and primaries that highlight the revolution happening right now in the Democrat Party. One in particular that I wanted to highlight was the New York 13th congressional district. The Democrat Socialist running in that race is Darieliza Avila Chevalier. Now, she holds every insane radical position you can imagine. Not just being a Democrat socialist who wants to raise taxes on everybody, but in addition to that, it's the scary positions like defund and a bar, abolish the police.
Politician 2
Do those views have a, a home in your caucus in the Democratic Party?
Politician 3
Well, listen, the voters are ultimately going
Politician 1
to decide this primary election.
Host
In addition to that, as the Washington Free Beacon reported, she wants things like allowing violent criminals back into public housing, which is a terrifying thing. What's important to remember here is she's not running against some moderate Democrat. She's running against a far left Democrat who is the self touted first illegal immigran in history, forced former illegal immigrant ever elected to Congress. He votes straight ticket with the far left on every issue. But the Democrats want their own Democrat Socialists with their sort of queer feminist identities, as she described to the Washington Free Beacon, to be in Congress instead of these people. And this revolution is eating the party alive. It's so important to remember the Democrat Socialists are not just a sort of far left political sect. They are a lifestyle. They have candidate trainings, they have boot camps, they go on campouts together where they sing songs and they are taking over the party from the inside. And it's coming to a neighborhood near you. We're seeing it first largely play out in these big cities, but it's also expanding beyond that. There are so many congressional candidates around the country representing the DSA that want to destroy America as we know it. On the contrast from that, Republicans seeing this revolution and seeing this civil war going on in the Democrat Party are focused on kitchen table issues like affordability. American Action Network just released a series of ads highlighting this dynamic, calling out the Democrats who've voted with the far left driven by the DSA against things like major tax cuts for working families.
Politician 2
Congresswoman Marie Perez must have a short memory because she clearly forgot about us when she voted for the largest tax hike in American history. Marie Perez voted against giving more money to hardworking Washington families.
Host
Now contrast that with someone like a John Braun who has taken very simple steps to make life more affordable for the constituents that he's hoping to run to represent.
Politician 3
People are struggling right now, but John Braun is defending hardworking families from the radicals in Olympia that enacted Washington's first ever state income tax.
Host
Meanwhile, you also have Republicans like Jen Kiggins running in contested districts in Virginia who just have simple wins on the board that make life affordable for people, while Democrats are continuing to rage against anything that might cut taxes and make life easier for working families. So this contrast is going to be a helpful thing because the Democrats civil war is not a civil war to make life more affordable. It's a civil war to take over the policy machine of the left with insanity like abolish the police, defund ice, open the borders wide. That's one of Dariel Lee's positions. She wants to not have borders. And so these are terrifying things that are actually happening. So we'll watch these primaries closely and report back on those results. I love it when we can do a Kamala Harris segment. Now, she did an interview with Don Lemon, which I don't know what that says about her ability to get good interviews right now, but she had a number of great word salads in there. First, I want to highlight her talking about hope as a verb.
Co-host
It is so important that we not only have hope, but that we understand that that should be a verb.
Host
I love that Kamala Harris treats words like hope and discovering that it's a verb, the same way she discovered Venn diagrams and how much she loves those. Like a elementary school kid who's learning these things for the first time and is just mind bl a noun, but it can also be a verb. But she also, in that same interview got into some substantive conversation about things like the Electoral College.
Co-host
I think that there is some real shaking up that we have to do of the rules and the structure and
Politician 3
is that get rid of the Electoral College.
Co-host
I think we should that should be a discussion that we should have.
Host
This is a classic move from the left of when you lose something, saying you want to change the rules. But the problem for Conway here, and I'm not sure if she's aware of this, even if they they didn't have an Electoral College, she still would have lost because President Trump beat her with the popular vote. And as save our States noted reminder, President Donald Trump would have won 520 electoral votes if the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact had been enacted before the 2024 election. So we love Kamala and we appreciate getting to be along the journey where she learns new words like hope and Venn diagrams, but also learning about the Electoral College and how it actually works. Doing a little bit of math. Over the last few days, we have not had as much discussion about Graham Platner, but he came up in a number of Sunday show interviews, so we thought it would be worth highlighting. First, here is his most ardent number one defender, Ro Khanna, once again doing a terrible job making a case for him.
Politician 2
What happened to believe women?
Politician 1
Well, I do believe those women.
Politician 2
At this point, almost the entire Democratic
Politician 1
Party is supporting him.
Host
Again, believe all women was just a vehicle for Democrats to try and attack Republicans. Now that they have an opportunity to show they really believe all women, they'll throw it right out the door. Also, again, fascinating that Ro Khanna has made himself the face of the Epstein victims, the victims of a terrible predator. And yet he is the first frontline defender of Graham Platner, who not only abused women, but was on an app called A Predator's Paradise. So again, consistency is not a requirement for Ro Khanna. But here's Cory Booker again saying a quiet part out loud.
Politician 3
Well, this is what campaigns are for. He certainly has a lot of issues and a lot of questions to answer and address. And I think the people in Maine are going to give a lot of examination to this going through in this election for me, I certainly hope we pick up a seat here.
Host
Thank you to Cory Booker for reminding everybody that they would elect Jeffrey Dahmer himself if it meant they could have a Senate majority. But here's another very interesting One strategist for Graham Plattner, Morris Katz, went on TV to try and defend him. Now, Morris Katz is a pretty strange guy. He told Politico that he wanted to put an illicit image of himself in a children's book to educate about biology, which is bizarre and insane. But he also was asked if there's any more women coming in the background of Graham Platner.
Politician 2
Can you say that there are not going to be more women coming forward with similar unflattering allegations against Graham Platner?
Politician 3
What I can say is that Graham Platner has addressed his past repeatedly, more than I've ever seen any candidate have to talk about their past. And he's been honest.
Host
That might be because he has a lot of. I like that. The interviewer says it's because he's got a lot of things to defend. He's got a lot of history and a lot of shady things. What he didn't say is, no, there aren't more women coming because Morris Katz knows there are a lot more women out there with terrible stories about Graham Platner. We'll see if they're able to quash those or if their allies, like the New York Times work alongside them to quash them. But they're hanging out over them like the sort of Damocles. And as you can tell from Morris Katz, he's not exactly a competent driver through a crisis. It has been a fun weekend of World cup games, but here at 10 Minute Drew, we're more focused on the fans. Here is an Australian man experiencing the wonder that is Texas Roadhouse for the first time.
Politician 1
It was all like, ribs and steak and chips. There was an onion that had been deep fried, and you dip it in the sauce.
Host
It's.
Politician 1
You just leave there so happy. And then Australians are all like, yeah, but in America, you've got to tip. No, you don't have to tip. You want to tip. These people are the most wonderful people in the world.
Host
Here's an Italian man learning about free refills.
Politician 1
I can refill this a thousand times. Yeah, but you won't drink a thousand cups of cocoa. You don't know me. And it's free.
Host
And a French gentleman discovering the glory that is air conditioning.
Politician 1
I have found out why America is so great, and it is one thing and one thing only. Air conditioning. It is the greatest thing I have ever experienced.
Host
Once again, we love these fans. We're grateful for the fun culture they're bringing with us as they experience America and show what it feels like to experience some of these things we take for granted for the first time. For our you can't make it up segment, today, we want to talk a little bit about the reflecting pool outside the Lincoln Memorial. Now, this has gotten a ton of news and attention. President Trump undertook an effort to clean it up. Now, if you've walked around the Lincoln Memorial in the last several years, it's pretty gross. It has been full of algae, mold. It's been green. It looks like the kind of thing that if you touched, you'd probably get sick. One of the reasons for that is the water from that comes from the tidal basin, which is connected to the Potomac. And so it's discovered water going in there, no matter how much you spend trying to paint it to be a nicer color. Remember that we covered the insane sewage spill that was really largely the governors of Maryland, Virginia's fault that made the water gross that flows into the reflecting pool. So not a huge surprise. But as is the case with everything around President Donald Trump, he can get his opposition to do the most insane things possible, including in this case, cheering for Algae.
Politician 1
Let's go, Algae. Let's go. Let's go, Algae, let's go.
Host
And one thing I want to highlight comes from Pat Adams at the White House. The lunatic in the Team Algae T shirt wearing a mask is Nadine Seiler, a BLM activist and professional protester who helped organize protests outside the private family homes of Supreme Court Justice Alito, Thomas, Gorsuch, Barrett and Kavanaugh. Now, you would not be surprised to hear that this woman is paid to protest and organize insane protests and rallies, the same dark money groups that fund every left wing political activity in this country. But if you were to say dressing up as Team Algae to protest Donald Trump, that sounds like an SNL sketch. It sounds like a character that might show up on Weekend Update highlighting the insanity of this political moment. But this is real. This is really where Democrats are rooting for algae to eat the Tidal Basin to own President Trump. Which again is bizarre, but also highlights the fact that the media has cultivated this because last week every major reporter in the Washington and New York area went to the Tidal Basin to talk about this. And we've now heard reports that there are actual vandals in there pouring in algae, trying to tear up the blue paint. And it's a circus, as is everything around covering and discussing President Donald Trump. That is all the time we have for today on our on the road 10 minute drill. Please leave us a comment, leave us a review. We'll cover some of those reviews and comments tomorrow. Tell your friends and have a great day.

Matt Whitlock’s 10 Minute Drill delivers a quick, biting review of the day’s main political stories. The growing rift within the Democratic Party, highlighted by DSA victories and radical positions, is presented as existential and deeply cultural. On foreign affairs, the Iran negotiations are criticized as lopsided. The episode’s style is laced with sarcasm, particularly targeting Democratic personalities and protest movements, closing with an almost surreal account of “Team Algae” activism that both lampoons and critiques modern protest culture. For listeners seeking the conservative pulse on current events—with wry barbs and references—this episode is both informative and entertaining.
