Before we get into things today, another House member has resigned. Democratic Rep. Sheila Scherfilius McCormick resigns. In March, a House ethics panel found Sheffilius McCormick guilty over two dozen ethics violations related to accusations that she funneled millions of dollars in Federal Emergency Management Agency funds into her 2021 congressional campaign. The Florida congresswoman was also indicted by a federal jury on federal charges last November. Now one of the funny parts of Sheila Scherfilius story here is the fact that she had a picture taken of her wearing a giant diamond ring. That was hundreds of thousands of dollars that she had bought with stolen money and she had to edit the ring out of pictures and eagle eyed people noticed it. We're not dealing with the brightest crooks in the world. However, if only Cheryl Scherfilius had run out of Minnesota, she she'd actually be a folk hero.

Moving on FOX News alert. According to the ap, voters in Virginia have approved Democrats plan to gerrymander congressional districts 50 to 49.
Host
After a short few month sprint where Democrats outspent Republicans by a margin of about 10 to 1, Democrats have passed the most radical gerrymander in the country. We've been warning about this for weeks. It is going to be a huge problem. But one thing people like myself will be watching is we will there be a backlash because we've already seen this was much closer than Democrats and many pundits expected it to be. There was a lot of energy from Republicans who saw this and said wait a sec, this is insane and unfair. So one thing to watch will be districts like that lobster district the Democrats painted to try and put Fairfax in charge of all the way places like Augusta county, that's right next to the West Virginia border. That's not necessarily a safe Democrat seat. If there is a backlash to Democrats like we've been seeing so far. So time to get back in the fight and see what happens next. Today I want to take a quick look at the state of Democrat primaries for Senate races. This is an area where I've suggested could be a place where the party's driven to the far left, giving Republicans some opportunities they might have considered. For example, Michigan. Over the weekend, Michigan held the Democrat nominating convention, which was a perfect display of the current challenges within the Democratic Party. First, let's take a look at very, very cringe Mallory McMorrow. That is an awkward dance. It's a little bit the Carlton dance and a little bit of like skipping, which I don't know if really fits with the band that she's paying there, but many people pointed out it's very reminiscent of a scene from Kamala Harris during the presidential primary in 2020. But the bigger story of the day was the Chuck Schumer supported candidate Haley Stevens getting a very, very negative reception.
Haley Stevens
Who has endorsed our campaign for the United States Senate? The working people of Michigan.
Host
This has been a common theme. The Democrats that Chuck Schumer is getting behind are, are getting a lot of flack for being endorsed by Chuck Schumer, who is, as we've talked about, one of the least popular congressional leaders in modern history. But the benefit of being supported by Chuck Schumer is he spends a lot of money supporting you. The challenge in this case is it's not really seeming to help Haley Stevens. And she was asked about her support for Chuck Schumer. You had called Chuck Schumer a great leader. Do you stand by that?
Haley Stevens
Look inside baseball look. You know what?
Host
Now I love any opportunity to show Hailey Stevens video because that voice is unforgettable. It's a little bit like a gremlin. But she is struggling to break through, particularly against the pro Hamas, anti American Abdul Al said we will never back

down against the likes of Donald Trump or the fascism he represents.

But another place where this anti Schumer dynamic is playing out is Maine, where he is supporting Governor Janet Mills, who's losing in her primary to, depending on the poll, you look at 20 to 30% to Nazi tattoo government. Graham Platner, who I am fairly certain from having watched him cannot write out a complete sentence, but is currently winning in the Democrat primary to take on Susan Collins. So again, the Schumer weight is really hurting in these contested primaries. And we'll continue to watch and see how this drives the party to the far radical, in many cases, pro Hamas left in ways that might actually help Republicans in the general election in November. One interesting dynamic of 2024 was the inclusion of Robert F. Kennedy and the Maha movement in the larger Republican voter coalition. Now, Maha Make America healthy again means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. To some, it simply means focus on nutrition, focus on the new and improved food pyramid, focus on wellness, health, exercise, things like that. But for a certain segment of people that are within that Maha movement, it means things that are a little bit more extreme, like vaccine skepticism or, or like Secretary Kennedy himself has talked about skepticism of things like Tylenol. Friend of the program Mary Kathryn Hams wrote a very smart article about how maha can either help or hinder Republicans heading into the midterms. Mary Catherine Hamm Republicans have a huge maha opportunity in 2026 if they don't blow it. As someone who spent years talking to center right women, I can tell you this. Health and wellness are not niche issues. They're not woo woo or fringe. They're kitchen table, group text, grocery aisle stuff. It's what moms are talking about while swapping tips about sleep anxiety and the cleanest snacks they can find for their toddlers. What Mary Catherine's getting into here is for a lot of moms in particular, health and wellness is a very, very prominent issue. It comes up on their Instagram feeds, it comes up in every part of their daily lives. And RFK in some ways with the Maha movement has tapped into that. But what she wants to warn about is as you get to the sort of radio fringe end of the Maha spectrum, there can actually be real risks for Republicans. When the conversation turns to limiting access to common medications like Tylenol during pregnancy, broadly casting doubt on vaccines, or heavy handed censorship of healthcare information through avenues like drug ads which create free speech concerns, the political calculus changes fast. So what Mary Catherine lays out there is a broad range of Maha priorities are actually 80, 20 issues that bring in a huge group of people. But when you cater to the narrower 20% of Maha that wants more extreme things like really taking apart the vaccine schedule, skepticism about Tylenol, even things like banning drug ads that help people learn about new treatments that can help and save their lives, you start to lose people. So this is a very, very smart piece that Mary Catherine's gonna be doing a lot more talking about as we get towards the midterms. And I think it's very smart to pay attention to how this can impact our midterm electorate. Late last week, the Supreme Court delivered a very decisive decision on a case we've been watching closely just in the Supreme Court ruled 8 to nothing in Chevron USA v. Plaquemines Parish, with Justice Thomas writing the majority opinion. Judge Oldham's dissent is vindicated. Yet another scheme by the climate lobby to weaponize the courts and forum shop has been thwarted. Chevron will now get its day in court before a more neutral federal judge. That was Carrie Severino. And what she's talking about here is the fact that the state of Louisiana was suing Chevron for the impact of oil drilling that Chevron was required to do by the U.S. government during World War II. Now, this lawsuit is different in some ways from a lot of these state climate lawsuits that are suggesting that energy companies created climate change. But it's still unique for a red state with a very Republican governor and a very Republican attorney general to be suing an energy company. But what Justice Thomas and the 80 majority found here was that Chevron was simply doing what they were required to do by the federal government. And so this is an interesting case that once again highlights the fact that energy companies should not be held liable for things that are outside of their control. And we'll continue to look at all the other cases coming down the pike that relate to this that could have an impact on our energy prices in spite of everything else going on in the world. For our you can't make it up segment today, we go back to an oldie but a goodie, our friend Spartacus.

That is our friend Cory Booker, who's speaking to a group of Michigan women. Now, one thing you'll remember about Cory Booker is there's not a lot of substance there, but there's a lot of theater. This guy is the final boss of Democrat theater kids. You may remember he gave a 25 hour speech and nobody can remember a single thing he said because it's not about the substance, it's about the performance, which I can respect as an enjoyer of entertainment. But this one gets pretty wild.
