The story of America is the story of an adventure. I can hear you. The rest of the world hears you. We are a nation under God and I believe God intended for us to be free.

As we covered yesterday in our Thursday episode. On Wednesday night around 8pm Graham Platner released an 11 minute video explaining that he was going to be leaving the main Senate race. And it was a hot mess of things.

working against you personally to accuse you of the worst thing that a person could do.

Now if you made it through all 11 minutes of this video, I personally had to watch it at two times speed because who's got that amount of time for that level of grievance? One of the things you might have noticed in it is there was not a lot of sort of conciliatory efforts there to bring the party together to beat Susan Collins, Politico reported. New Graham Platner's top aides urged him to strike a conciliatory tone and focus on gratitude in his campaign termination announcement. But Platner refused and made it a condition of dropping out that he got to assail establishment Dems, per sources. So it was notable throughout that 11 minutes there was almost no mention of Susan Collins. And in one point he made a very long aside about beating an entrenched incumbent. And it turned out he was talking about Janet Mills in the primary. And I would also note as he's talking about how soundly he defeated Janet Mills in the primary she'd suspended her campaign with weeks before that primary happened. And so it's sort of a little bit rich there. But the other point that you'll notice throughout this Graham Platner talks about himself

as the victim with no time to truly respond, no time for investigations before a corporate media system and the political establishment got to act as judge, jury and execute.

So again, if you followed Graham Platner at all, the idea of painting himself as a victim in these circumstances when he's the guy who did all the terrible things that he did and he lied about them, defrauding his own staff, supporters and the party overall. Now I would note many on his staff were aware of some of the most damning allegations because reports have shown they were making calls to a lot of his ex girlfriends to see if they were going to be able to keep them from speaking out. They obviously failed at that. There's also going to continue to be a lot of blame at the DSA advisors who went and recruited them, especially this guy with the weird voice. How did you think your way through the fact that he had posted these things on social media? I said none of this will or should stop him from becoming a US Senator. None of this will or should keep him from becoming a US Senator.

Wrong.

All of this was disqualifying. You had access to a lot of this and you pushed the guy anyway. And I can't imagine anyone ever hiring these weirdos for a campaign again. So this fallout will continue. Democrats think that this is going to now be an easy thing to just swap somebody in and they're going to beat Susan Collins. Susan Collins has already won this race. If I was advising Chuck Schumer, I would say we are not fielding a candidate in Maine this year. We're going to let that one go and focus our resources elsewhere because we've already messed this one up too much. And one of the things that's going to work against them is the process that the Washington D.C. democrats and the Maine Democratic Party have set up to choose the platinum replacement, which fulfills a lot of Maine Democrats worst fears. This from Mike Shepard at the Bangor Daily News. Maine Democrats are eyeing a roughly 600 person convention to replace Platner. 500 elected proportionally by county committees, the rest coming from the state committee which is hearing this plan now. I think the Democrats would argue this is the best sort of representative group they could come up with to try and come up with a alternative in such a short period of time. They've only got two weeks from the period of that resignation to have a new candidate. And there's already about nine to 15 people that are looking at this. Somehow every Democrat in Maine seems to look in the mirror and see I can be the new Graham Platner. The other tough part about this for any of these Democrats is they're going to run with the stink of Graham Platner on them because it will feel like he approved and helped pick them through this. And that is a hot mess for any of them. But one of the things Graham Platner said In that winding 11 minute video was he wants a very clear, open transplant process. Even with 600 people, it feels like a room of insiders getting to pick their candidate. And any single one of them will lose to the buzzsaw that is the Susan Collins Senate campaign. It was a busy week. We talked about Iran. We talked a lot about Graham Platner. We talked about Abdul. Here are the top five highlights you may have missed if you missed any other episodes of 10 Minute Drill this week.

Given the very high standards Politico has, before they write something like this and publish it, what aspects of this story brought it to the level of publishable?

Now, I would note Morning Joe is basically the Mecca for Democrats and Democrat candidates. And if Morning Mika had any ethics whatsoever, she would remember that Graham Platner went on her show and said this.
Guest or Commentator 2
I just wanna make this clear. There's nothing out there that's actually concerning people will make everything seem very concerning.
Host
Mika, he lied to your face. US overnight attacks struck over 80 Iranian targets after Hormuz vessel incidents. Centcom says the US Central Command announced on 7th of July that it carried out attacks on more than 80 targets across Iran, saying the operation came in response to Iranian attacks on commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Now, this all happens while President Trump is at NATO talking about all of these issues with other foreign leaders. And he was asked very specifically about the status of the ceasefire with Iran.
Guest or Commentator 1
To me, I think it's over. I don't want to deal with them anymore. They're scum. You know what scum is? They're scum. They're sick people.
Host
President Trump has had enough with Iranian games and says the ceasefire is over. And right now there are three different groups of Democrats and how they're reacting to the DSA rise. The first group is the group that's trying to actually push back on their radicalism. Josh Shapiro, the governor of Pennsylvania, is one of them.
Guest or Commentator 3
I think what our party has to go through that will be very healthy and something we've not really done since the 1992 election cycle, is to have a battle over what we believe in.
Host
Josh Shapiro wants to have a debate because he actually wants to push back on these people becoming the face of his party. But when you move over a little bit to the middle, you have the group that's saying, I'm not too worried about this, even though, you know, they absolutely are and are staying up at night worrying about it. People like Hakeem Jeffries.
Guest or Commentator 3
I've taken the position that there are going to be times where we may, as a congressional delegation, agree to strongly disagree with each other on endorsements.
Host
And then, of course, there's the third group that wants to say, this is awesome, because they are naive enough to think they might be able to get this energy channeled in their direction. When they run for president. $230 million stolen from America's School Kids Embezzlement, Ghost students, fake invoices, kickbacks. State Financial Officers foundation and Open the Books just dropped a bombshell. Nearly 90 cases of K through 12 education fraud exposed. Kids first, no more stolen futures. And as you take a look at that report, schooled by schemers, fake tutoring, fraud, embezzling, bid rigging, fraud, waste and the money that never reached kids. Now in this report, the State Financial Officers foundation outlines so many different ways school districts around the country have defrauded taxpayers by creating fake schemes to get taxpayer dollars to them. We have talked before about the education establishment in this country and how outrageous it is. Whether it's the federal Department of Education or school districts like this where the more money we seem to spend, the performance still seems to go down. Congratulations Abdul. You win the award for most cringe campaign of 2026. This is not going to help your women problem, but it might make everyone else think you are pretty weird. But on top of that, just in an effort to try and show that he's normal because most of what everyone knows about him is hating Israel and trying to make excuses for the guy who tried to shoot up a synagogue in Michigan, he also released this video.
