President Trump's long awaited deadline for Iran to come to the table to strike a deal on the Strait of Hormuz. What happened and how we got there? A Democrat rising star has lost her shine and the streaming anti Semite causing major headaches for Democrats around the country. All of that and so much more today on 10 Minute Drew. Everybody get up, get up.
President Donald Trump
The story of America is the story of an adventure. I can hear you.
Drew
The rest of the world hears you.
President Donald Trump
We are a nation under God and I believe God intended for us to be free.
Drew
Last night at 8pm we hit the long awaited deadline President Trump set over the weekend for Iran to come to the table. But yesterday morning, here's what he posted on Truth Social to prepare for it. A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don't want that to happen, but it probably will. We will find out tonight. One of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the world. 47 years of extortion, corruption and death will finally end. God bless the great people of Iran. Now this was quite the warning shot to Iran that they needed to come to the table by 8pm or be obliterated completely. Now President Trump has used increasingly heated rhetoric to lay out the stakes of this and fortunately that was enough to set the table for continued negotiations.
President Donald Trump
The President has just issued a truth social media from the White House saying this based on conversations with Prime Minister Sharif and Field Marshal Amunir of Pakistan and wherein they requested that I hold off the destructive force being sent tonight to Iran. And subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the complete, immediate and safe opening of the Strait of Hormuz. I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks. This will be a double sided cease fire. The reason for doing so is that we have already met and exceeded all military objectives and are very far along with a definitive agreement constrained concerning long term peace with Iran and peace in the Middle East.
Drew
Now there's a lot that remains to be seen about where this goes, but for now, President Trump has alluded to the fact that there is progress being made in a path towards peace. Last week we talked a little bit about Hasan Piker. He is the left wing streamer influencer activist who's pulling the party to a very dangerous anti Semitic place. The context that we spoke about him last week was campaigning with and standing alongside Michigan Democrat Senate candidate Abdul Al Sayed. Now just for a little bit more background, here's why Hasan Piker is so offensive.
Ro Khanna
If you cared about Medicare fraud or Medicaid fraud, you would kill Rick Scott.
Drew
America deserved 9 11, dude.
Ro Khanna
I don't have any sort of patriotism in my heart for any. Yeah, for America. But just in general.
Drew
The other offensive thing I didn't want to include in that super cut is the fact that after October 7, he not only said that it was the lesser of two evils, but he also said that some of the horrific things that happened to the people in Israel, including things like mass sexual assault, didn't actually happen. And so that is a huge, huge red flag. But not a big enough red flag to keep Democrats from wanting to join him on his program and campaign with him again. Here's Abdul said yesterday defending that.
Ro Khanna
Excuse me, it's important. Speak to what he said about 911 and October 7th.
Drew
Well, it's important to talk about context. And here's Bay Area House Democrat Ro Khanna defending appearing with him on his streams despite all the offensive things he's said and done. You have made several appearances on a
Ro Khanna
show hosted by socialist commentator Hasan Piker.
Drew
Do you have any regrets about appearing on his show?
President Donald Trump
None. And I would go again.
Drew
Then again yesterday, Ro Khanna was pressed on CNBC by Joe Kernan about this move to continue to embrace the Hasan Piker.
Ro Khanna
You have Hasan Piker. You don't dissociate yourself from a clear anti Semite. You go on his twitch feeds all the time. It just looks like you are appeasing the left flank of the Democratic Party right now just for votes, just for ends to justify the meme.
Drew
But it doesn't end there. Here is Effie Phillips Staley, a candidate for New York's 17th House district.
Effie Phillips Staley
All of the young people on my team and all of the young people who they talk to, they all follow Hasan Piker. They all thought it was extraordinary that I was on Hasan Piker. At every indivisible protest I go to where they say, where are the young people? Where are the young people? Well, I'll tell you where they are. They're on Hassan Piker. That's why I went on the. That's why I went on the stream.
Drew
Well, Effie, that might be a part of the problem that the growing, growing number of young Democrats see a rabid anti American antisemite as the voice of their generation. And maybe your job as someone who wants to lead people should be to point them in a different direction. And instead of somebody who believes that America deserved 9 11. I cannot believe that New York would elect a congresswoman who stands with a guy and gushes about a guy who said that America deserves 9 11. But this is a massive growing problem for Democrats. One thing that's important to track as you follow the climate alarmism movement is just how often you see hypocrisy. Daily Wire had a great piece yesterday. The globe trotting lifestyle of three anti oil activists who live like royalty. The leaders of three Louisiana based environmental activist groups Rise St. James, the Vessel Project and the Descendants Project take frequent domestic and international trips jetting around the globe from Europe to the Middle east and Asia. So consider the fact that activists right now on the left have a pretty good gravy train of cash flowing to them. And for these three anti energy activists, they are flying in business class all around the world while trying to and fossil fuels that are flying them around the world. The hypocrisy is quite staggering. But it's the same thing that we've seen with people like Al Gore and John Kerry who have flown private to conferences to talk about how important it was that we ended air travel completely. And lest we forget, the best and most cartoonish hypocrite in all of American politics, Bernie Sanders, who would never ever consider flying with the unwashed pores on United.
Ro Khanna
Think I'm gonna be sitting on a waiting line at United. Waiting, you know, while 30,000 people are waiting. That's the only way you can get around.
Drew
That's my favorite clip of all time. There is no better political hypocrisy in the world than Bernie Sanders the socialist soak the rich guy saying you think I'm gonna sit in line at United. Good stuff. If you've listened to 10 Minute Drill for more than one day. You know, we talk quite a bit about what's happening in Virginia because Virginia is the stocking horse for the rest of the country. Virginia had elections one year before the rest of the country. And so there's one year for Democrats in Virginia to show what's coming to the rest of the country if they take power. And Abigail Spanberger is a perfect example of that. But she has run into some skits. Washington Post. Virginians deeply divided on Spanberger months after her landslide win. There's a number of reasons for this. For one, she ran as a moderate and is governing as a communist lunatic. She ran specifically on leaving the popular congressional maps in place. She said specifically, I will not gerrymander. Her first thing that she's doing is gerrymandering and changing the maps. Abigail Spanberger has the worst favorability rating after 80 days in office of any Virginia governor in the 21st century. She also ran on affordability and bringing down costs. But this polling shows US Voters are not sold on that. In general, more Virginia voters think Spamberger's policies will hurt than help affordability. 41% say her policies will make Virginia less affordable. Only 31% say more affordable, and 23% say they won't make a difference at all. And as Jim Garrity wrote last week in National Review, in the future we might call it a span burger when somebody runs as a moderate, governs as a socialist, and pretends they have no idea how that happened. But this is impacting the redistricting referendum, particularly as we look at the chaos we're seeing as a result of Spamberger's policies. The Washington Post poll shows that among Virginia voters who voted in the 22, 24 and 25 elections in, 53% are a no on the redistricting referendum, while 44% are a yes. As David Ferdoso notes, the highest propensity voters in Virginia are leaning against this redistricting referendum for a couple reasons. One, they likely remember the fact that Abigail Spamberger ran on not touching the maps. Number two, they don't necessarily think it's fair to wipe out four Republican congressional districts. Or three, they see what's happening in Fairfax county with all of the murders, the illegal immigrant sanctuary policy fallout, and think maybe we don't need to spread that to the entire commonwealth. But we will see as that referendum ends in just a couple of weeks. Wanted to touch on a quick interesting story from Minnesota. Last week, Tim Waltz tweeted this good news in Minnesota today. Our graduation rates just reached another record high. But the problem for Tim is when you pull back the numbers and look at the data a little bit more, you see that while graduation numbers are going up, proficiency numbers under Tim Waltz are actually going down. If you look at from 2019 until now, that blue bar is 10th grade reading proficiency, you have a steady decline all the way up until 2024 and 2025. And if you look at the math proficiency, you also see a continued decline. So what they're doing in Minnesota is trying to increase their graduation rates to take the win on that while people are leaving school less prepared for the world. And this is a problem with a lot of the box checking. We see in left wing education circles the fact that they want to ratchet up that look good like graduation rates, whether or not the performance is actually improving. And this goes back to teachers unions and so much of the Democrat money into education, not necessarily being focused on improving student success, but being focused on continuing to build out administration and jobs for teachers unions and other reliable Democrat voters. For our you can't make it up segment today, we go back to the California first partner. Yes, that is Gavin Newsom's wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom. But she wants to be known as the first partner because calling her that helps educate the rest of us about the value that she brings into that union. And she hopes the rest of us can also learn and understand and develop and progress in a way that we can wrap our heads around that. But she's been in the news quite a bit lately, and there's a few clips that we wanted to highlight. First, huge credit to Maze Moore on Twitter, who has basically become the Jennifer Siebel Newsom rapid response machine. But first, very recently, I want to start with, there was a clip of her reaction to President Trump's decision to remove Pam Bondi as attorney general.
Jennifer Siebel Newsom
I need to call out that it's no surprise to me that the first two prominent people pushed out of this administration were women.
Drew
Starting a video with a few thoughts on the patriarchy, but having it not be a parody or satire is super on the nose. What you'll see as you continue to learn more and hear more about Jennifer Siebel Newsom is she's sort of like a fever dream that any one of us might have had in the year 2020, when people were sort of on the woke IV of the craziest political ideas that the left has ever had in a place where any opposition to those ideas got you canceled. But here's another clip of her talking specifically about how she treats her boys.
Jennifer Siebel Newsom
To understand girls, I've given our boys dolls. Even if they tear the head off, I've given them dolls. What I've done with both my daughters and my sons is if I'm reading a book and the protagonist is a male, I just change the he to a she.
Drew
So I have always thought that you don't necessarily help women along by erasing men, which is what Jennifer's doing here. To each their own in the parenting world. But when you consider this woman out on the campaign trail with Gavin Newsom trying to speak to voters outside the very bizarre, you know, mocha latte bubble in San Francisco, she might run into a few problems there.
Jennifer Siebel Newsom
But when more women are in the rooms making decisions, changing the status quo and transforming not just our culture but our society and our economy, I'll give you one Example, look at tech at Silicon Valley. Had more women been early on in those companies or at the tables of power making decisions, I don't think we would have so much or have allowed for so much sort of bigotry, racism, misogyny to begin there.
Drew
Silicon Valley's historically been known as a pretty progressive place. So for her to say that it is all sorts of racist and problematic because there weren't enough women in the room, I think is an interesting premise to start with. But I also think that this, again, sort of man hating style isn't going to help her very much.
Jennifer Siebel Newsom
The governor and I, we have three more years. We're trying to institutionalize our values.
Drew
Whenever a Democrat says institutionalize our values, that's a pretty big flashing red light. First, what are their values? Gavin Newsom's values include things like being a homewrecker. He had an affair with his best friend's wife, famously broke up their marriage, preyed on a subordinate in his office, is a massive hypocrite. He promoted COVID lockdowns and then was caught going out to dinner at French Laundry. And even from a policy standpoint, things like parental exclusion laws that would keep parents in the dark about what happens to their kids at school, things like every kind of policy supporting men and women's sports, allowing transing of kids. Jennifer's values are in some cases even worse and a little bit more annoying to hear about.
Jennifer Siebel Newsom
Inequality and the systemic causes of inequality dating back to our country's founding are a result of an imbalance of our values and exaltation of rugged individualism combined with a deprioritization, some may even argue stigmatization of partnership in the collective.
Drew
Now with Jennifer Siebel News from the first partner on the scene and on the campaign trail, you can expect to hear a lot more of these kind of woke word salads. It's basically like if Kamala Harris took cocaine to talk a little bit faster and spent a weekend being indoctrinated at the Democrat Socialist convention. Privilege point of personal privilege.
Effie Phillips Staley
Yes.
Drew
Please do not use gendered language to address everyone,
Ro Khanna
okay?
Drew
We have a lot of disabled comrades and a lot of those are invisible. And I think that's going to be a major problem for Gavin Newsom as he vacillates between hugging the far left and trying to seem like a kind of normal guy. That is all the time we have for today.
