Hi, I'm Heather Straughter, and this is a place of. Yes. In each episode, we have honest conversations about grief. The messy parts, the unexpected moments, and the ways we begin to heal through heartfelt stories and expert advice. My hope is to offer you comfort, connection, and a reminder that you don't have to navigate this alone. Hey, everyone, it's just me. Today we decided not to release a full episode. It's the day before Thanksgiving, and I care so much about each conversation on the show. I want every episode to have the time and the space it deserves. Holidays can make that tough. So today, instead of a regular episode, it's just me. We're reflecting. I want to say thank you and I want to give you a sneak peek of what's coming up. This time of year is always hard. And as much as I try to stay grounded in gratitude, it's hard when grief is always right next to me. I always feel a little off when everyone around me seems excited and people are so present and I'm kind of disconnected. I try to remember that it's all good. All of these feelings can be true. I can be excited for Thanksgiving and still miss Jake. I can be grateful to be here with my family and be all together and still notice that he's missing. It all is true. So if this week feels heavy for you, you're not alone. I totally get it. Make sure you take the time to rest, give yourself grace, and if this is a good week for you, enjoy it guilt free. So I'm super excited about next week's episode. Brian's back. I love my conversations with him. I love having him as a guest on the show. And this one is so much fun. We take turns asking each other questions. We pick them out of a jar. Something about that, something about him asking me questions as well as me asking him is just so special. The conversation's super honest. It's super tender. And this episode is coming out in the days leading up to our 15 years without Jake. It's hard to believe it's been 15 years. I hope you'll get a chance to watch or listen. And here's a little sneak peek. What has surprised you about how Jake continues to influence our choices, our family, and Jake's help from heaven?

When I share how much we've been able to support members of our community and, you know, we're doing it in Jake's name, it is astonishing, the fact that we have been able to give.
A
Away close to $1.8 million.

I mean, you know, just and again, you know, a lot of our donations are smaller donations. And, you know, it's because people care about the work that we're doing, and we're able to do it, you know, to help individuals that were like Jake.

And for the rest of the season, there are so many more meaningful conversations. I talked to a grief counselor, a veterinarian who specializes in pet euthanasia, a grieving father who started Ainslie's Angels, a grieving mother who holds grief retreats, and so much more. One of the things that I love so much about this season is that I have learned something from every guest and. And I guess I could say that about all the episodes, but I have been so cognizant of the lessons that I learn and things that help me both as a grieving mom, but also to make this show better. If you listen to this show, whether you've listened to all or just a few, I would love to hear from you. I know I say that all the time, but I really mean it. I would love for you to reach out. You can send me an email, a placeofyespodcastmail.com or just message me on Instagram. I would love to hear all of your ideas. If you have ideas for future guests, if there's something you'd like us to focus on, if you have any, anything, I'd love to hear it. Thanks for being here. I'm grateful for you.
