The Bible With Daily Grace. This year we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study Christ in All of Scripture. Each week we will dive deeply into two passages of Scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the new, seeing how they connect and point to Jesus.
Alexa
Whether you are doing the study yourself or just following along with us here, we are hopeful that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present throughout the entire biblical story, but the center of it.
Beth
Hi everyone. Welcome back to A Year in the Bible. I'm Beth and I'm joined, as always by Alexa.
Alexa
Hi everyone. Today we're going to be talking about how we plan on applying what we learned this week. So, Beth, will you share with us your application takeaways?
Beth
Yes, for sure. So there are two things that stood out to me this week. First is that Jesus's sacrificial work cleanses me of my sin so that I can be in God's presence. Now, this is very similar to what we talked about on the application day of last week, but it's the kind of thing that I feel like I need to be constantly reminding myself of, so I figured I'd talk about it again. So in the time of the Old Testament, people could not approach God. They couldn't just walk up to him and speak to him because of his great holiness and their sin. They had to first offer sacrifices and make sure that they were cleansed of impurities in all these different ways. But because of Jesus, I not only have access to God's presence, I have his very presence dwelling within me through the Holy Spirit. So what I'm encouraged to actually do this week is to treat that fact with a bit more reverence than I normally do, which is typically to not really think about it at all. And so I want to stop more often and pray about everything, the big things, the small things, just because I can. Because Jesus shed His blood for me and my sins were atoned for, and the Spirit dwells within me.
Alexa
Yeah, that's so good. And that encourages me, too, especially because I just want to keep growing in my prayer life. It really is amazing that we don't have to do anything in order to approach God. Jesus did everything for us. And so even the daily sins that I commit can't change the access I have to God because of Christ and His forgiveness. So that's just all the more reason to continually approach God in prayer. Okay, what is your second application takeaway?
Beth
Yeah, the second application point I walked away with has to do with the scapegoat and my sins being removed. So this actually came from the prompt in the study on page 41. And it encouraged me to think about how I want to hate my sin in the way that God hates sin. I want it to be completely removed from me. I want it to be taken to a desolate place and to die. But I don't always act like that. And so only Jesus can change my heart to make me hate sin. And only by His Spirit can I truly put it to death. So what I want to do is to ask him to help me do that more this week.
Alexa
That's super challenging. And it just reminds me that I probably don't pray as much as I should about hating my sin and turning away from it. So, like you, I. I want to ask God to help me do that more. So thanks, Bev. We are going to enter into a time of prayer now, so Beth is going to read some prayer prompts for us. And we just encourage you to respond in prayer after each one.
Beth
Thank God that He provided the perfect sacrifice in Jesus so that our sins could be forgiven and His Spirit could dwell with us. Ask God to make you more aware of his presence. Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you in seeing your sin, hating it, and putting it to death through his work in you. Well, thank you all so much for joining us this week. We will see you all again on Monday. As we dive into our next week of seeing Christ in all of Scripture.

A Year in the Bible with Daily Grace: Season 4, Week 15 Day 5 Summary
Episode Title: Applying Leviticus 16:20-22 & Hebrews 9:24-26
Release Date: April 11, 2025
Host/Authors: Beth & Alexa, The Daily Grace Co.
In Season 4 of A Year in the Bible with Daily Grace, Beth and Alexa guide listeners through the Christ in All of Scripture reading plan. This particular episode, Week 15 Day 5, delves into the application of scriptures from Leviticus 16:20-22 and Hebrews 9:24-26, exploring their profound connections to Jesus Christ and their implications for daily Christian living.
Beth opens the discussion by reflecting on the transformative power of Jesus's sacrifice:
“Jesus shed His blood for me and my sins were atoned for, and the Spirit dwells within me.” (01:44)
She emphasizes that unlike the Old Testament, where the Israelites had to perform various sacrifices to cleanse themselves of sin and approach God, Jesus’s ultimate sacrifice grants believers direct access to God's presence through the Holy Spirit. This shift underscores a more intimate and immediate relationship with God.
Building on this foundation, Beth shares her personal takeaway:
“I want to stop more often and pray about everything, the big things, the small things, just because I can.” (01:44)
Beth encourages treating the privilege of approaching God with greater reverence. Recognizing that Jesus's sacrifice has made constant prayer and communication with God possible, she aspires to integrate this into her daily life more consciously.
Alexa echoes this sentiment, highlighting the assurance believers have in approaching God:
“It really is amazing that we don't have to do anything in order to approach God. Jesus did everything for us.” (02:50)
She underscores the importance of maintaining a robust prayer life, free from the fear of losing access to God due to sin, thanks to Christ's atonement and forgiveness.
Transitioning to the second application point, Beth delves into the symbolism of the scapegoat:
“I want to hate my sin in the way that God hates sin. I want it to be completely removed from me.” (03:17)
She reflects on the study prompt that inspired her to consider the depth of animosity God has towards sin. Beth admits the struggle in fully internalizing this hatred and acknowledges that only through Jesus and the Holy Spirit can one genuinely overcome sin.
Alexa concurs, expressing her own challenges in this area:
“I probably don't pray as much as I should about hating my sin and turning away from it.” (03:50)
Both hosts recognize the continuous effort required to align one's heart with God's desire to eradicate sin, emphasizing reliance on divine help.
Following their discussion, Beth leads listeners in a time of prayer with the following prompts:
Gratitude for Jesus’s Sacrifice:
Awareness of God’s Presence:
Empowerment to Overcome Sin:
These prayers are designed to reinforce the episode's themes, encouraging believers to deepen their relationship with God and take active steps towards personal holiness.
Beth and Alexa conclude the episode by reiterating the importance of seeing Christ woven throughout the entirety of Scripture. They invite listeners to continue their journey of discovery and application in the coming weeks, fostering a deeper love and understanding of Jesus.
“We are hopeful that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present throughout the entire biblical story, but the center of it.” (01:17)
