Welcome to A Year in the Bible with daily Grace. This year, we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study Christ in All of Scripture. Each week we will dive deeply into two passages of Scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the new, seeing how they connect and point to Jesus.
Alexa (0:17)
Whether you are doing the study yourself or just following along with us here, we are hopeful that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present throughout the entire Biblical story, but the center of it.

Hello, everyone. Welcome back to the Year in the Bible podcast. I am Beth and I'm here again with my co host, Alexa.

Hey, friends. We started this week looking at Deuteronomy 18, 15, 19, and now we are going to go to the New Testament and see how it connects to what we Learned in Deuteronomy 18, 15, 19. So today we are talking about the annotation day on Hebrews 1:1 through 2. That passage says, long ago, God spoke to our ancestors by the prophets at different times and in different ways. In these last days, he has spoken to us by His Son. God has appointed him heir of all things and made the universe through him. So, Beth, how did this annotation day go for you?
Beth (1:14)
Yeah, this was a really good annotation day. I really liked the second to last prompt which had us underline and compare the different time periods mentioned in the passage. And so the things that I underlined were the phrases long ago and the phrase at different times, and then the phrase in these last days. And so the phrase long ago I think, is talking about the days of the Old Testament. So what we've been talking about on our Mondays and Tuesdays throughout this study, and then what comes after that in the Old Testament as well? And then the at different times phrase I think, is talking about all of the time between the Old Testament and Jesus. So throughout the rest of the Old Testament, through the time of the prophets, and then in these last days, I noted that this was the time of Jesus and the time of the New Testament and even moving on into today. And so this just shows us how God's Word has only become clearer in our day because we are not relying on the message of human prophets, but on Jesus himself, who reveals God in His Word because he himself is God.
Alexa (2:17)
Yeah, I love how this passage speaks to different time periods because it shows us how God has consistently spoken to his people. I'm reminded of the period between the Old and New Testament when it seemed like God had gone silent. But when Jesus comes on the scene, it shows that God is faithful to keep speaking to his people and he has chosen to do that through His Son, who is the Word. So are there any other prompts you want to discuss?
