Welcome to A Year in the Bible with daily grace. This year we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study Christ in All of Scripture. Each week we will dive deeply into two passages of Scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the new, seeing how they connect and point to Jesus. Whether you are doing the study yourself or just following along with us here, we are hopeful that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present throughout the entire biblical story, but but the center of it. Hey everyone. Welcome back to Year in the Bible. My name is Alexa and I'm here with my co host for the week, Scott.

Hey everyone.
A (0:37)
So far this week we have looked at Proverbs 1, 7, and now we want to turn to the New Testament and study Colossians 2, 2, 3. So we're going to spend some time today talking about the annotation day on Colossians 2:2,3. But before we start, Scott, can you read those verses for us?
B (0:53)
Yeah, we'd love to. I want their hearts to be encouraged and joined together in love so that they may have all the riches of complete understanding and have the knowledge of God's mystery. Christ. In him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
A (1:09)
Awesome. Thanks, Scott. Can you share with us any annotation takeaways that you had on Colossians 2, 2, 3?
B (1:15)
Sure. So for the third prompt, one of the things I immediately caught was a few similar words between Colossians and Proverbs. There's wisdom, of course, but also understanding and. And knowledge. All of which appear either in Proverbs 1, 7 or at least in the first seven verses of Proverbs. And like with Proverbs, I think what we see here is that wisdom, knowledge and understanding aren't primarily intellectual qualities, but moral ones. Like notice how Paul connects these with love. These are marks of a lifestyle that is characterized by love.
A (1:48)
Yeah, that's super interesting, Scott. I. I really love that connection between wisdom and love. That's cool to see there. What else stood out to you?
B (1:56)
Something else similar that I said in the other annotation day, but like, when it comes to attributes of God that we see here, I had to think about that one for a second. But here's what stood out to me. It was a phrase joined together in love. Now, to be clear, Paul is not describing God here. He's describing how we ought to live. But again, we are called as Christians to reflect God with our lives. And like with Proverbs 1, I think we see here that that following God's ways, growing in knowledge and wisdom will result in a life of love which reflects our God because our God is a God of love.
