Welcome to A Year in the Bible with Daily Grace. This year, we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study, Christ and all of Scripture. Each week we will dive deeply into two passages of scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the new, seeing how they connect and point to Jesus.
Daily Grace Narrator (0:43)
Whether you are doing the study yourself or just following along with us here, we are hopeful that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present throughout the entire biblical story, but the center of it.

Hey friends. Welcome back to A Year in the Bible. I'm Beth and I am joined by my co host, Alexa.
Alexa (1:01)
Hey everyone. So far this week we have looked at Isaiah 42, 6, 7, Isaiah 49, 6, and John 8:12, and now we want to connect those passages together and to Christ.
Beth (1:12)
Yeah. So Alexa, can you help us understand how these passages relate to and point to Christ?
Alexa (1:18)
Yes, absolutely. So in both Isaiah 42, 6, 7 and 496, we see how God's promised servant is going to be a light to the nations. In John 8:12, Jesus says that he is the light of the world. So Jesus is God's promised servant who brings light to the nations, the whole world. But I think this naturally leads us to ask, what does it mean that Jesus is the light and brings this light? So throughout Scripture, light and darkness is often used spiritually to describe walking in God's ways and not walking in God's ways. So for example, when talking about Wisdom and Proverbs 2:12, 13, Solomon writes, It will rescue you from the way of evil, from anyone who says perverse things, from those who abandon the right paths to walk in ways of darkness. And Jesus says in John 3:19 21, the light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than the light because their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the light and avoids it so that his deeds may not be exposed. But anyone who lives by the truth comes to the light so that his works may be shown to be accomplished by God. So Scripture shows us that to walk in light is to know God's truth and to abide by God's truth. And those who don't know God's truth and don't abide by God's truth live in darkness.
