Welcome to A Year in the Bible with daily grace. This year we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study Christ in All of Scripture. Each week we will dive deeply into two passages of Scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the new, seeing how they connect and point to Jesus.

Whether you are doing the study yourself or just following along with us here, we are hopeful that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present throughout the entire biblical story, but but the center of it.
Alexa
Hi friends. Welcome back to Year in the Bible. My name is Alexa and I'm here with my co host, Beth.
Beth
Hello.
Today we're going to be talking about this week's New Testament passage, which is Luke 22:14 20. So before we get into the annotations, will you read that passage for us, Alexa? Yes.
Alexa
When the hour came, he reclined at the table and the apostles with him. Then he said to them, I have fervently desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God. Then he took a cup and after giving thanks, he said, take this and share it among yourselves. For I tell you, from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes. And he took bread, gave thanks, broke it, gave it to them, and said, this is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me. In the same way, he also took the cup after supper and said, this cup is the new covenant in my blood which is poured out for you. So Beth, tell us about how you annotated this passage.
Beth
Yeah, so when I was looking for things that point to Christ, I made a note of how Jesus begins his speech here. He says, I have fervently desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. And I just love that it really brings out the humanity of Christ. He knew what was going to happen to him after this meal. He knew that this was the last time that he would gather and eat with his best friends. And he was sentimental about it. And it's just such a relatable image. Obviously it's more extreme than this, but it is like the last time that you go to dinner with a friend who is moving away or the last time you hang out with your college friends before you all graduate. We just really get a glimpse of how much Jesus loved his disciples and that really shows us how much he loves us.
Alexa
I never thought about that before, Beth. I I love that Jesus's choice to eat this meal with his disciples is such a sweet picture of his love and fellowship. Did you annotate anything else?
Beth
Yes. The last thing I wanted to focus on is the last prompt which asks us to highlight the name Jesus gives this meal in verse 15 and he calls it the Passover Meal and want to say too too much about this today because I know we're going to discuss it in detail tomorrow, but I'll just say that the original Passover meal and Passover event takes place just before God establishes the Mosaic Covenant with Israel. So here we have another Passover meal, a new Passover meal, and a discussion of a new covenant.
Alexa
Wednesdays always leave me wanting more, so I'm excited for our discussion tomorrow and we hope you join us then as we connect Jeremiah 31:31 34 and Luke 22:14 20 together unto.
