Welcome to A Year in the Bible with Daily Grace. This year we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study, Christ in All of Scripture. Each week we will dive deeply into two passages of Scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the New, seeing how they connect and point to Jesus.
Alexa
Whether you are doing the study yourself or just following along with us here, we are hopeful that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present throughout the entire biblical story, but the center of it. Hey friends. Welcome back to A Year in the Bible. I'm Alexa and I'm here with my wonderful co host, Beth.
Beth
Hey everyone. So this week we have studied Habakkuk 2, 4 in Romans 1, 16, 17, and we have learned that Christ gives believers his righteousness by faith. So we now want to wrap up this week by sharing our application takeaways. Alexa, how do you plan on applying this week's passages?
Alexa
Yeah, well, just briefly, Paul's words of not being ashamed of the gospel are really convicting, but I feel like I've talked about my struggles with sharing the gospel the past few weeks. So I think what I mainly want to share is that this week really encouraged me to have more faith in my circumstances, especially the hard circumstances. That might seem really simple, but I think it can be pretty hard sometimes to have faith and to trust God and what he's doing when our circumstances aren't good, especially if those circumstances are really, really not good. My husband and I are in a season of waiting right now, and it's really easy for my faith to waver during this time. And so I can understand to a degree the reaction of Habakkuk and Habakkuk when he questions God and what he's doing. I find myself often questioning God's goodness and why he's making us wait. But I think this week's emphasis on faith is just a reminder that God is trustworthy, good and faithful so I can place my trust in him even when I can't see or understand what he's doing. I come back to the end of Habakkuk a lot, and so I want to read what Habakkuk says there. He says in Habakkuk 3, 17, 18, though the fig tree does not bud and there is no fruit on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though the flocks disappear from the pen and there are no herds in the stalls yet, I will celebrate in the Lord. I will rejoice in the God of my salvation. I love those verses so much because they remind us that even when our circumstances seem really bleak, we can still rejoice in the Lord. And I think it's when we choose to still place our faith in God, when our circumstances are bleak that we experience that joy because we know that God is still working and he is ultimately leading us to an eternity where all will be made new and suffering will be no more.
Beth
That's really beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing that with us. I know that message of hope within bleak circumstances will resonate with so many people who are listening. I personally am not in a season quite like that right now in that there isn't a big challenge that I'm facing, but there are a lot of little unknowns that I'm wrestling with in my life right now. And I think this reminder that we walk by faith even when we can't see how God is working or when we don't know how something's going to play out is really good for me right now. I definitely am what they would call a control freak and so I need the encouragement to let go of that control and walk by faith instead. Well friends, we are about done with our time together this week. Before we go, we want to spend some time in prayer. After Alexa reads these prompts, take a minute to bring your prayers to the Lord.
Alexa

This episode centers on the practical application of two key scriptures—Habakkuk 2:4 from the Old Testament and Romans 1:16-17 from the New Testament. The hosts, Alexa and Beth, reflect on how these passages point to Jesus and encourage believers to live by faith, trusting in God’s goodness regardless of circumstances. The discussion is designed to bridge the ancient text with modern faith, drawing listeners into a deeper, more gospel-centered perspective on daily challenges and spiritual growth.
"Though the fig tree does not bud and there is no fruit on the vines...yet, I will celebrate in the Lord. I will rejoice in the God of my salvation."
(Alexa, quoting Habakkuk, 01:34)
“I definitely am what they would call a control freak, and so I need the encouragement to let go of that control and walk by faith instead.”
(Beth, 02:54)
Alexa encourages listeners to pray and reflect with these prompts:
Alexa (01:34):
"Though the fig tree does not bud and there is no fruit on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though the flocks disappear from the pen and there are no herds in the stalls, yet, I will celebrate in the Lord. I will rejoice in the God of my salvation."
Alexa (02:24):
"It’s when we choose to still place our faith in God, when our circumstances are bleak, that we experience that joy, because we know God is still working and He is ultimately leading us to an eternity where all will be made new and suffering will be no more."
Beth (02:54):
"I definitely am what they would call a control freak and so I need the encouragement to let go of that control and walk by faith instead."
Beth (02:38):
"This reminder that we walk by faith even when we can't see how God is working or when we don't know how something's going to play out is really good for me right now."
The tone is gentle, transparent, and pastoral, inviting listeners to examine their own faith journeys. The hosts model scriptural engagement and application in real life, offering hope that the story of Christ’s righteousness by faith speaks to every season—whether marked by waiting, suffering, or daily uncertainty.
Listeners are left with clear encouragement: Faith is not only for times of strength but is forged and displayed when circumstances are hard or uncertain. The episode reinforces the idea that all of Scripture points to Christ and that joy and steadfast hope are possible through Him, regardless of present trials.
