Adam Carolla
Rob o' Neal back in studio. I don't know how long it's been.
Rob O'Neill
I don't either. It seems like when I walked in here, it wasn't that long ago, but I think it's been a number of years.
Adam Carolla
I'll tell you some of the best response I've ever gotten on a podcast was the Rob o' Neill podcast.
Rob O'Neill
That's good to hear. Yeah, Happy to help.
Adam Carolla
Navy SEAL killed bin Laden and lots of other missions I didn't really know about as well. I just sort of knew you from bin Laden. But it makes sense that if you're a SEAL Team 6 guy, you do being on everything.
Rob O'Neill
Yeah, I was having a conversation. Well, I was at the McGregor fight and McGregor got hurt. And just how people are saying to come back is over. They don't see how long it takes to get to a certain spot when you're in the octagon. It's the years and years of the training, the shitty days, the hard, you know, I want to wake up type stuff. It took me essentially 15 years to get to bin Laden stairwell. Like, that's, that's from the moment I joined the Navy to SEAL training, which is the hardest military training in the world. To the deployments with them pre 911 to deployments with them, post 911 to selection for SEAL Team 6, which is where they take maybe 2% of Navy SEALs with combat experience put them through a selection course that's nine months long. 50% of them don't make it. Then a squadron, then you deploy, and then just mission after mission. I credit a lot of luck with it, but I was on the mission to rescue Marcus Luttrell, the lone survivor. On my first deployment with SEAL Team 6, I was the lead jumper to try to rescue Captain Richard Phillips from Somali pirates, where we left my daughter's Easter tea party on my birthday, Good Friday, April 10th. And 16 hours later, we were in the Indian Ocean. We rescued Richard Phillips on Sunday. And then just going to war, Iraq, Afghanistan, different spots like that. They picked a team for the bin Laden raid. Who was the most experienced at the right time?
Adam Carolla
So Captain Phillips. Well, they made a movie out of all. Pretty much all of them. I don't know, has there been a capture or sort of kill bin Laden movie yet? They made in the words they may
Rob O'Neill
be Zero Dark Thirty, which was more about the woman that found bin Laden, which was a great movie. I actually watched it last night. Me and Patrick watched it last night, and it was cool. I haven't seen it in a while.
Adam Carolla
But War Burton. Yes, yes.
Rob O'Neill
The finest voice in the world.
Adam Carolla
Love that guy.
Rob O'Neill
Fantastic. Yeah. But it was about the ca. How they found him and how much it took. And again, people didn't realize how long it took that one woman with the dedication, the seven days a week, 20 hour days. And that was a good movie. They didn't get everything right in the house or especially the human element of the guys that went. Because that story there, just the flight in, knowing you could die any second for 90 minutes is. That's a story.
Adam Carolla
So Captain Phillips, that's the Tom Hanks movie. Then of course, Lone Survivor. That's Mark Wahlberg. Mark Wahlberg. And you say first in or first to jump on the Captain Phillips thing? Is that like a fast or something?
Rob O'Neill
No, we were designed to rescue American hostages. We seal Team 6 in 1980, designed to rescue American hostages at sea. We'd never done it. It'd never been done. So from 1980 to 2009, never been done. And we didn't think of that. But we're gonna jump with boats. So we carry two boats per plane. Two planes with four boats, and we're gonna jump the boats into the water. This is nothing classified. There's videos of it everywhere. And then just a team to rescue whatever you're getting into now. We had fully enclosed orange lifeboat being towed by a Navy destroyer. So we brought as many, many dudes as we could fit just because we, we don't know what we're going to do. No one has ever thought of this. How do we rescue them? The first plan was just put snipers on the fantail, the back of the boat, just to watch him when we got there, make sure nothing unsafe happens. And what we did is we had everybody come up with a plan. What's the best plan to get the guy out? Because these weren't terrorists. These were criminals that were in a really bad spot. They know they're busted, so they're not necessarily going to just cut this guy's head off. So what can we do to get him out? Can we even negotiate? Come up with that?
Adam Carolla
How many guys, how many Somalis are on the boat?
Rob O'Neill
When we got there, there were three. There was four initially, and they pulled one off. They were going to negotiate with him, and then when he was negotiating, he got either the freezer or the oven because we killed his friends. And then he's just going to prison forever. Right, so. Or they were going to negotiate the way out. So it didn't work out that way.
Adam Carolla
And how did you physically get on the boat?
Rob O'Neill
I didn't, but what happened was the boat was tied to the back of the, of the destroyer and they were reeling him in the whole time. And so once. This is actually a cool story. Once the shots were fired, we got to send assaulters in there to check because I think there was a gunfire after the sniper shot. So they didn't know if it was the death throes of a guy they killed or he executed. So this is pretty serious. It's funny because there's an obstacle at SEAL training called the slide for life that everybody has to do. And I remember doing it thinking, this is just dangerous. There's no application. This is just a hard. And what that is, you climb a few stories of a wooden building, and up on top there's a rope that goes down at about a 45 degree angle. And you just get on top of it, put one leg like sort of behind you to get a little bit of balance with your leg under your groin and down your chest. And we just all do that. We're running the oak horse for time, but it turns out we're all really, really good at this. It's just when are we ever going to use it? Well, one guy used it one time. And so once the shots were fired, he put a sniper rifle down and he got on top and then he crawled down and he went in to see if Captain Phillips is alive. And here's another part too, with, these are dudes, right? These aren't just break glass in case of war. The story he told me, which might be true, might not. He said that when he was getting ready to go in to see if Richard Phillips was in there, he took a moment to think. I got to think of something cool to say. Like, this is the one time I'm gonna rescue someone. He said he went in there and it was covered and they've been using it for a toilet and had been cooking in the African heat. And there's three dudes with their heads blown open laying in this filth. And he said, I guess my buddy looked at Richard Phillips and his first words were, I'm gonna need therapy. Fuck. That's what I say. That's my line. But yeah, so he got down to that way and then we pulled him back on the ship and toys to the ship up. And then FBI took over.
Adam Carolla
And the lone survivor. Was that your first?
Rob O'Neill
That was my first deployment with SEAL Team 6. And that was in 2005, June. So I was in an out station, which is a safe house in Jalalabad. And it was before we surged. So we still, the locals were still on our sides because we were going in. We're paying the locals. We hire security, hire plumbers, hired mechanics. We make sure their families don't get hurt by the Taliban. They make sure the Taliban stays far enough where they can't mortar us. And that's how you win hearts and minds. And then we're shopping in the Baza ours, buying rugs, just spreading the wealth. And that's how you do it. And we had an airfield the Russians had built and we'd actually, the Mujahideen, the army of God, Al Qaeda Junior or the predecessor to Al Qaeda, they had shot down Russian Hind helicopters with Stingers that we sold them. That's when you hear the whole Osama bin Laden was a CIA asset. Well, yeah, we were funding them through Pakistan, like everyone does in the graveyard of emperors. But a SEAL team landed out there in some helicopters and we had rangers at the airfield. So I went out to see them and they told me the story. Well, I sort of had heard they were going to try to do this, but now they just inserted four snipers into the Korengal Valley, which is pretty much the most dangerous place in the world. A place where people have guns, but they don't know what time is.
Adam Carolla
Right?
Rob O'Neill
Like, they don't understand the concept of time. They don't. There's not. There's no other earth that primitive. Yeah, I met dudes that. They did know their four brothers names, but including me, they don't know what the number five means. Like, really, they don't know time just. No. No concept. It's. It's. I mean, it might be ignorance is bliss. Because even the. The concept of building them schools, they couldn't fathom. Like, why would you build me a school?
Adam Carolla
Right?
Rob O'Neill
I'm taking my son out to he farms every day. That's going to do forever.
Adam Carolla
Right?
Rob O'Neill
But they were going to go insert guys to find a terrorist. And it's kind of a Vietnam tactic. We more of you, we're going to do it to say we did it. Machad was a lead, a Taliban leader 5. But the tactics, you know. But I can question anything. Monday morning quarterback. But they just inserted him. And I knew some seals landed out there, so I went on a motorcycle to see them and I talked to some guys. I talked to Dan Healy, who I went through sniper school with in 1998. We talked about Sam Adams, how this deployment's going, how we're going to have a beer together when I get back, shit like that. Jeff Taylor was there. A couple of dudes were there. And then I drove back to my safe house and we're sleeping there. Then they went up while we were. We had some. Some guests over or whatever. And then we found out their helicopter got shot down. The snipers are compromised. You got to go to the crash site. So we went to try to gather up who was left. They told us Turbine Three three had been shot down. Three four landed in the wrong spot. I guess the pilots were so rattled, they landed at one of our medical spots in downtown Jalalabad, as opposed to the airfield. So like, SEALS were running across jbad in their kit. And I remember seeing friends of mine. I don't want to say their names now, but one of them was a group of three brothers who were SEALs. One of my buddies I knew from SEAL Team 2, just saying, like, the world's a better place. You're in it. What happened? They're saying, well, missiles came up, there were plumes of smoke. It hit them. They're done. They missed us. We're back. And then we had to find. Okay, we got to get up there. And they're not going to fly us in because he lich got shot down. No one's up there, so figure it out. So we got to find vehicles, we got to find donkeys, we got to find whatever other soldiers. There was a tent of Rangers, maybe 20 Rangers. And the conversation is, hey, here's the situation. I need five guys. We're going to walk. And the Rangers like, okay, here's all 20 of us. Normally it takes us four minutes to get ready. We'll be outside in two. It's like, steal a vehicle, let's go. Like a pep talk. And then we just go up and we had. We were with Rangers, Green Berets, pretty much the whole coalition. A couple SEAL team, six guys, RRD snipers, Army snipers, kind of leading the way. Awesome dudes. And then we just start walking up the mountain. And then guys start to realize how this just sucks. Holy shit. I'm tired. I'm carrying too much stuff. It's 100 degrees out. We're going up to 10,000ft. It starts to sink in like. Like, if I wanted to quit right now, where am I gonna go? This is why we train so hard. And we don't know what. So we try to get up there. It's a matter of a couple of days walking through the mountains. I actually, someone just posted a video of me. I was shooting IVs into Rangers. Their shirts are off. Just trying to keep them hydrated because guys are dropping out from heat exhaustion.
Dawson
Really?
Rob O'Neill
Yeah, it was. It was just a crazy day. And again, it's. I was. I say now that when you're living history, you don't realize it till it's over.
Adam Carolla
Sure.
Rob O'Neill
We're just on the mountain trying to stay alive. And other guys did fly, like to the point where they were bringing in. They finally started flying helos in a day. And they were throwing water to us, but, like throwing off of cliffs like, well, thanks, because we can't get to that shit. And finally get up to the top. They did fly some other guys in. They got to the crash site. We start walking back down. We had to call in air support on guys that we saw. We finally make our way back down into.
Adam Carolla
When you call in air support on guys you want to get rid of, what form does that air support show
Rob O'Neill
up in for this? It was an A10, which is the best thing you can.
Dawson
Yeah.
Rob O'Neill
And that's the best thing you can get for anything. A warthog just shows up and he's going to solve problems and we actually had a female pilot who is, I think is cool. Anytime we had. We had female pilots dropping on dudes. I just. Because they. Because that brand of Sharia law hates women. I like to know that's fine for me. It's my own personal jihad.
Adam Carolla
I get it, I get it. They hate women. And now they're being destroyed by a woman and from the sky. So it almost has a biblical kind
Rob O'Neill
of feel to it. They believe in dragons over there. I had a mission one.
Rudy Pavic
It's.
Rob O'Neill
It's such a backwards.
Adam Carolla
Before they believe in dragons before I
Rob O'Neill
went to Afghanistan, a buddy of mine just got back so we're talking early O2 or whatever and I said what's it like over there? And he said you just have to see it because you wouldn't believe me. And I saw it and then there's a difference between like, like a line officer or a staff officer. Someone on like an enlisted guy that's fighting or an officer on a base. They've seen different stuff. There was a village on one of the outstations, I forget which year that I was running where just. They're primitive but they can't put their phones down. So you always intercept their phone calls and then you gotta. Is the interpreter telling me the truth anyway. But there was a. They were having a conversation. You could tell that they had picked apart conversations over like their generations because there was this dragon that every morning wakes up and it spits a gem into the sky. That's the sun. It lights the sun and when it, when it gets mad, it growls. That's the thunder and lightning or whatever. And they know this. So I had an idea that I have to sell it to the army because the army owns everything. I said, hey, if we, if we go talk to the village elders, if they. I'm going to tell them, if they tell me where the Taliban is, I'll. Oh, the only way you could kill the dragon was with the German made B52. I forgot that part. Which doesn't exist. No, but they pieced that together. So I said I will kill the dragon. You don't need a German made B52 and I'll make sure the sun comes up every day until you die. Just show me where the Taliban is. I was sent to the army. And they said, well that's stupid. And I said, but is it it?
Adam Carolla
Is it? You know, it's funny, I don't know the size of the round that the A10 warthog shoots from its Gatling gun.
Dawson
Do you?
Rob O'Neill
I have to look it up.
Adam Carolla
We can look it up.
Rob O'Neill
Yeah, look that up. I should know that. But if I say it wrong, I'm gonna get hammered.
Adam Carolla
I want to know how many millimeters I know. It's spent uranium or depleted uranium. Yeah, but it's so funny. It's probably about 30 millimeters or something.
Rob O'Neill
I think it's about 30, but it might be.
Adam Carolla
But the reason I was laughing about is. I was not laughing about, but I was thinking about it. I was watching one of my YouTube videos on the Messerschmitt, the German World War II plane. And the thing that's crazy about that plane is it had a cannon in the nose cone. It shot a 30 millimeter. Had a 30 millimeter cannon that went through the propeller shaft and shot straight out the nose cone, the center of the propeller.
Rob O'Neill
Oh, the timing was on for the propeller, wasn't it?
Adam Carolla
No, that timing, that's for the guns that shoot through the propeller.
Rob O'Neill
Yeah, something.
Adam Carolla
Okay. The thing that I didn't know about is it's a V12 that's inverted. It's an upside down V12 and it powers a shaft. The propeller's on a shaft. So it's not going through the engine, it's going through the shaft, and the shaft is hollowed out.
Rob O'Neill
Oh, that's badass.
Adam Carolla
And at the back of the shaft in the plane, probably about from the nose cone to where the cannon is, it's probably six feet. And the Germans in the 30s figured out a way to machine a V12 that would power this thing to 400 miles an hour and have a hollowed out propeller shaft so they could put a cannon inside the, you know, under the cockpit and fire 30 millimeter rounds from the center of the plane.
Rob O'Neill
Yeah, they had good engineers. I think the A10 was designed because the army brought that gun to the Air Force and asked them to make it fly. But I don't know a single combat vet that doesn't absolutely love the A10.
Adam Carolla
The A10. Warthog uses the 30.
Rob O'Neill
30 millimeter.
Adam Carolla
30, yeah. Yeah. By 173. So weird that the Germans were using 30 on the. By the way, 30 millimeter is an inch and 3. 16 or something. Inch and a quarter or something. Inch is like 25 and change millimeters. Like when people want to know how big your bullet is, it's a little over an inch and then it's long.
Rob O'Neill
Then there's 2,000 coming at you. Yes.
Adam Carolla
It fires 3,900 rounds per minute. Yeah, yeah.
Rob O'Neill
So it sounds like a dragon when you Call it in.
Adam Carolla
Yeah, Maybe that's where they're getting that.
Rob O'Neill
It's just a whop.
Adam Carolla
So yeah, that is.
Rob O'Neill
It's got to be. But I love how they said German made B52 those.
Adam Carolla
So those are what you call in. I mean that's the best ground support
Rob O'Neill
because it's an anti tank, anti armor, anti personnel.
Rudy Pavic
Right.
Rob O'Neill
And so it's got that 30 millimeter Gatling gun and then rockets, all kinds of rockets that blast at people and just. It's a great deterrent just flying over. They can do passes without doing anything. Like it's. It's common what that plane is. And it's just gonna fuck you up.
Adam Carolla
Right.
Rob O'Neill
And we're the only ones who have it.
Adam Carolla
Right?
Rob O'Neill
Well, our allies do, but.
Adam Carolla
So people know to scatter.
Rudy Pavic
Yes.
Rob O'Neill
These guys didn't. Because when you're fighting people who want to die, it's a different kind of.
Adam Carolla
That's interesting. Yeah.
Rob O'Neill
So it is good to wound them and let them die in a few days. Not me personally, but an A10 will blow your legs off.
Adam Carolla
Yes. Sheath. You ever get to the gym and realize you got on a bad pair of underwear and it ruins your whole workout? Sheath is the perfect solution. but, but when we. So we did that when we got down to Abed, then the guy brought out the. The note from Latrell. So we've been awake for two days. And then somebody brought a note from Marcus that he was still alive. So we thought everyone was dead.
Adam Carolla
Wow.
Rob O'Neill
So we had to walk back up. There was actually an argument at Assad about Afghanistan. Is a CIA station there? And the CIA wanted, didn't want us to because we're going to take this guy that just brought the note, he's going to walk us back and take us right to Marcus. And they didn't want to burn a source. The CIA would rather have a source than anything. And look, there's an argument about his Social Security.
Adam Carolla
So he's a local.
Pluto TV Announcer
Local dude.
Rob O'Neill
Yeah, local dude. This is the part that really said it to me that they don't have any idea what.
Adam Carolla
And they don't want to burn a source by seeing the local guy with you guys.
Rob O'Neill
But we're going to say, look, we're going to. We have him as a prisoner. We're walking him to his village. He's going to show us and well, how do you know which one it is? And we made the mistake of showing this probably. Well, he looked 90, so primary. He was 35. But we sh. We showed him an iPad for the map of his village. That was a big mistake because we might as well show him the face of Muhammad himself because this guy doesn't know how to count. And instead of starting off with a newspaper or Written language. We just flash an iPad in front of his face.
Adam Carolla
So, so primitive.
Rob O'Neill
I mean, this guy, remote.
Adam Carolla
So primitive.
Mint Mobile Announcer
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
Wow. It's kind of interesting.
Rob O'Neill
Oh, it's fascinating. They don't even know why they're at war. They shoot us because we're there. If we leave, we'll never have a problem with them.
Adam Carolla
Right. So that's the lone survivor story. We got the Captain Phillips. But let's go over bin Laden again. Just because it was so fascinating last time we discussed it. How far before the bin Laden raid did you. No, it was bin Laden.
Rob O'Neill
About three weeks.
Adam Carolla
About three weeks.
Rob O'Neill
At first they told us we found a thing in a house. And this house is in a bowl in a country. And you're. It's these mountains in a country and you're gonna go get it. And they wouldn't tell us. Like we asked them which mountain range. They wouldn't tell us our country. Or we said, how are we getting there? We're not gonna tell you. And the only thing they answered was when we asked them how much air support and they said none. So we knew we didn't have any help. And we're going to a spot. We don't know what we're gonna get. We don't know which country.
Adam Carolla
Right.
Rob O'Neill
And then they slowly read us into it.
Adam Carolla
They, they are. When you're training, are you having to build a representation of the compound that was already built?
Rob O'Neill
So they already had that. They knew this was a compound of interest. They had been building it for a while. They weren't positive it was bin Laden, but they had the schematics and they built the site knowing at some point it's going to be a high value target. Even if it's a drug dealer, he's going to have his hands in the.
Adam Carolla
Basically a sort of plywood facade.
Rob O'Neill
They built it out of like Conex boxes, shipping containers, big shipping containers just stacked on each other. And we didn't need an interior because we know damn well you don't know what the interior looks like. So just show us what you can see 100% and we'll just figure it out.
Adam Carolla
Right.
Rob O'Neill
I never wanted some. I mean, unless it was a blueprints of a cruise ship, I don't need to see anything because it's probably different anyway.
Adam Carolla
Right.
Rob O'Neill
And even your sources that say they're in there lied to you. They're just telling you what you need to hear to get paid and then maybe pay them again because something they told you was like using AI. Like I told you. Oh, I was a little wrong, but pay me a little more.
Pluto TV Announcer
Right.
Rob O'Neill
Like that. So we knew the exterior, and that's all we really need to do, because then we can figure out what our perfect plan is. Here's what happens if it goes down perfectly. Okay. Now here's what happens if this goes wrong. Now, here's what happens if this goes wrong. So it's a lot of table talking. And then go through this scenario with helicopters, do those a bunch of times, day and night. And it wasn't for our tactics. It was. It's important for us to plan and explain our capabilities. But I don't need to prove I know how to fast rope. But we kept doing that over and over and over.
Adam Carolla
Right. So you kept fast roping from the helicopter, which we.
Rob O'Neill
The only person to fast rope on the mission was the pilot because he crashed it against the wall. He had to use a rope to get out.
Adam Carolla
Oh, really?
Rob O'Neill
Everyone else just hopped out.
Adam Carolla
All of us is fast rope. Somewhere around 30ft.
Rob O'Neill
It can be any. It can be anything up to. I think the longest rope we have is about over 100ft.
Adam Carolla
Oh, that's a long.
Rob O'Neill
That's a good rope. That's a long way to rope. There's no safeties on that. You just get on the rope and slide.
Adam Carolla
Yeah, that's a long way to go. But you're practicing dropping on the fast rope. But now. So three weeks out, you know what the target is and you're training every day.
Rudy Pavic
Yes.
Rob O'Neill
And we're, again, we're just going over the contingencies, and it's just. So the planners. We're still one of five options. Well, one of the options was we can do a multilateral mission with the Pakistanis. And everyone in the room laughed like, if that's a plan, then just, can we go home? Because someone's gonna tell bin Laden. So four plans. And we were just showing it. And eventually President Obama did say that. I was never convinced bin Laden was there, but after seeing you, I was convinced you'd go find out. I mean, it wasn't necessarily he loved us, but we were a good canary in a coal mine type.
Adam Carolla
Right. How many guys in total are training?
Rob O'Neill
We had 23 and then a couple alternates, so I think a total of 28. And we had, yeah, us, and then the dog. We had Cairo, the Belgian Malinois.
Adam Carolla
Oh, those dogs, man, they're like super dogs.
Pluto TV Announcer
They are.
Rob O'Neill
Anytime a dog is killed in combat, he saved like, five guys.
Adam Carolla
Really?
Rob O'Neill
Yo. Yeah, there's a. There's a memorial at Seal Team 6, where you, you know, you read the memorial, the guys who were killed in combat. But if you turn around and put your back to the memorial, up in front to the right is a memorial for the dogs because that's where they are. Like whenever you're walking to target, they're right there.
Adam Carolla
Wow. Yeah, they're cool. So you got the one dog.
Rob O'Neill
Cairo.
Adam Carolla
Cairo. You got the pilots? Yep.
Rob O'Neill
And then you got one crew chief per plane. And then we had 12 and 13, I guess. Was it 12 or 13? No, it could have been. That doesn't add up. No, we had 23 total, so 24
Adam Carolla
with the dog and two helicopters. Which helicopter was it?
Rob O'Neill
The first one. I was in the second one. So the first one to go in, he was going to hover in front of bin Laden's house and the guys were going to fast drop into the courtyard.
Adam Carolla
Yeah. And that was at what time?
Rob O'Neill
Probably about 1am how do you arrive
Adam Carolla
on 1am that's up to the pilots.
Rob O'Neill
The pilots, we have the night stalkers. They're plus or minus anywhere in the world. And I think they say two minutes, but I say plus or minus 30 seconds and they'll just have you there. Those are guys that, if it fits, they'll fly through the front door and pick you up.
Adam Carolla
Right. But they go, we want to go at 1:00am who's deciding the 1:00am well,
Rob O'Neill
that would be everyone. The pilots have the best idea of the illumination cycle. And then the commanders, ground force commanders, the planners, intel knows that shit. And we'll just say, ideally for us, everything from what part of the REM sleep are they going to be in?
Mint Mobile Announcer
So.
Rob O'Neill
Because that's going to give us an extra 15 seconds, right? Yeah. So just, I mean, that's why we had Saturday or Sunday to go. And we blew off Saturday because the correspondence dinner and we just knew we had Sunday to do it. It doesn't seem like a big deal, but if the entire cabinet gets up, you know, 20 minutes before we take off, that's going to be 110 minutes that the press have seen. Something huge is going on. That's time for something to get to bin Laden. Hey, we don't know, but the President just stood up. Get the fuck out of that house. Right. So. So we. And even Hillary Clinton said, fuck the press, let's go kill him. So, you know, she's a.
Adam Carolla
Right.
Rob O'Neill
She's not. She's not afraid of a little violence.
Adam Carolla
So 1:00am yeah, so we got there about 1.
Rob O'Neill
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
You know how far before that night, you're going that night. Oh, you knew it was that week.
Rob O'Neill
Probably two days. I think maybe Wednesday. Because I think if I hope I don't have my days wrong. But I remember watching the NFL draft on a treadmill and we had already gotten the green light. And I remember thinking about the Washington Redskins, how they should pick up a lineman, they definitely need an offensive line. But then I realized, well, it doesn't really matter to me because I'm going to be fucking dead next week. That was a weird mindset.
Adam Carolla
Yeah. No, Saturday off. You're getting off the first helicopter.
Rob O'Neill
Second.
Adam Carolla
I'm sorry, the second helicopter. We're going at 1am what do you do that day? Are you able to sleep? No.
Rob O'Neill
I remember two of us went in and stretched. A lot of guys were doing. They were working out to keep the blood flowing, eating. You know, we've had pre mission. You know, we know missions are coming. We know dangerous missions are coming. This one was a lot different. I went and I hand wrote letters to my daughters in particular and each close family member. And like my one daughter who was always there, she was seven years old at the time. And I remember writing a letter. I didn't write a letter to her, but I wrote one to her when she's 27. And I'm writing, I'm really sorry I missed your wedding. I know you're beautiful. Thanks for taking care of your sisters and your mom and explaining what we did was noble and here's why. And then, like tears hitting the pages, I had to put all my. The notes and letters I wrote had to go with instructions in different envelopes into a big. A big manila envelope. Because I can't just give a buddy, hey, here's the note, you know what to do with it because he's gonna be fucking dead too. So I gotta find someone that's not involved with the mission, but I can't tell him about the mission. So I remember finding a Navy intel guy and I handed him the manila envelope and I said, hey, I'm gonna need this back in 24 hours. And if I don't get it back, the instructions are inside. And I remember him saying, how will I know? And I'm like, you'll fucking know, I promise.
Adam Carolla
Right? Wow.
Rob O'Neill
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
So second Hilo first is supposed to go inside the compound.
Rob O'Neill
Yeah, Fast rope outside. Well, before we left was cool. Cause we just wrote the letters. We didn't need a brief. I don't need you to fire me up. We're all Seal Team 6 guys, hundreds of missions. But we do want to know about the weather. Shit. And we have a final briefing. Then Admiral McRaven, who was in charge, gave us a pep talk, which was, badass. Like I said, we don't need that. But he did. He said, last night I watched my favorite movie. It's called Hoosiers. And it's about this basketball team from Hickory, Indiana.
Rudy Pavic
They don't.
Rob O'Neill
They live in a small town. They haven't really left that area. But they're so well coached, such a good team with seven dudes. They make it to the state championship. And when they walk in the arena in Indianapolis at the state championship, they're all starstruck. So the coach recognized that. And he grabs a tape measure, says measure from the back of the room, the free throw line. What is that? It's 15ft, coach. Cool. Get on his shoulders. What's the measurement from the hoop to the floor? And he said, 10ft, coach. And he said, cool. You're going to find these are the same measurements as your gym in Hickory. This is just a bigger audience. To calm him down. He said to us, you guys do this every night. This is just a bigger audience, right? And so we got up to leave and I walked. I did walk over to him and I said, admiral, or I called him Bill for the only time. And I said, you're so busy selling this mission to the president that I doubt you watched Hoosiers, but you were fucking born to give us that speech right now.
Adam Carolla
It was a great speech.
Rob O'Neill
And we saw Maya, the woman that found me outside. And I remember two of us saw her, and we were like, hey, why are you nervous? And she's like, what? Why the fuck aren't you nervous? And like, we do this every night, you know?
Adam Carolla
So two helicopters. One is supposed to land inside the compound or fast rope.
Rob O'Neill
One was going to fast rope inside. All the guys, including the snipers, were going to fast rope out of that bird, separate into separate strategic rooftops, and then take down the guest house and start their assault on the bottom floor. Bin Laden's house. My team was going to drop off external security. So sniper's a machine gun, an interpreter that we brought a dude who I don't know who he was, but he spoke Urdu without an accent. He had a gun. So he's someone that they trusted who.
Adam Carolla
What he loves the dog on.
Rob O'Neill
He was on ours, so he's external security. And then Will Chesney, his handler and one of the snipers is going to run around the whole place twice. That should Take them as long as it takes us inside to make sure no one gets out. But when we dropped them off and we were going to the roof, the pilot saw the other pilot and the other pilot couldn't hover to fast rope, so he realized he wasn't getting to hover. It was 1 or 2 degrees Celsius warmer than he anticipated. And the walls were mud, not chain link like we'd been using because we could take down chain link fences at night.
Adam Carolla
Oh, the air passed through the chain link.
Rob O'Neill
So the updraft or something. And we had the four best pilots in the world.
Adam Carolla
Yeah. So he couldn't hover because there was a vortex of air that was hitting the walls and creating a vacuum or whatever. But you guys, such an interesting thing. You're not gonna build an adobe wall to train.
Rob O'Neill
No. You gotta figure you gotta take the fences down in case a satellite goes over. Who saw that?
Adam Carolla
Right.
Rob O'Neill
So every few hours you gotta take the whole place down.
Adam Carolla
Right. So you got. So he can't hover inside.
Rob O'Neill
And he said an inexperienced pilot would have felt that and powered it up and that would've rolled that kill. But he realized with the updraft he could turn it. I don't know which fucking way, I'm not a pilot. But he said if he put the tail of this helicopter on that 15 foot wall and pin the nose during the spin, it would stop and we might live. And he like made that call and did that.
Adam Carolla
Right. That was the, that was the first helo.
Rob O'Neill
Yeah. And then our helicopter pilot saw that all happen. And they're in communication.
Adam Carolla
Right.
Rob O'Neill
But him seeing it and hearing it, he just realized, fuck hovering. And he just backed out and put us down in the, in the. Set you down outside of the compound though. So we're outside the wall, we can see the top bin Laden's house, but there's a 20 foot wall in front of us.
Harvey Levin
Us.
Adam Carolla
Right. So first we've got to breach the wall or the gate. Yeah.
Rob O'Neill
Now we got to just get in. So this was a contingency. What if we can't get to the roof? What if it's fouled? Well, we land out here and we know there's doors over there. So let's go blow those doors. The breacher had a 7 foot charge of C6 prepped to blow and he got up there, stuck it to that and we backed off and he blew it. So we're going to make entry there on the northeast corner. But we got up to the entry and there's another brick Wall. So there was the wall, a door, a brick wall. And, like, that's not something we'd seen before. So the initial response is, okay, failed breaches is bad. But everyone at once is, this is why you send the experience guys. Everyone at once is like, oh, no, no, this is good. That's good. That's a fake door. And no one does that. So he's in there, right? How do we get in? And then. So what we had heard was that our pilot, who'd taken off now, had known the other bird was in the front porch, but we didn't. I think I heard them saying, dash one going around. Dash one going around. Because they took fire. But what they were saying was, dash one going. So we knew we had a cross. Bin Laden's house again. And there's a carport that they'd been using. That's the vehicles went in and out of that. We knew it opened. We didn't go there first because we anticipated either the teams there. There might be a fight. But we said, hey, yeah, this is so and so failed. Breach, northeast corner. We're gonna blast the carport. And they said, don't blast it. Do not blast it. We'll open it. We thought they were in the air, but they're. The door opened, and thumbs up came out. We recognize the glove. And it's like, all right, doesn't matter why we're here. We just are. And that's the point I keep making when I talk to football teams. Like, it doesn't matter why it's second and 15. It just is, Right? You're in a point in life where we're just here. All that shit's in the past, and we could talk about it if we live. So we get in. I remember I saw the pilots there. Different uniforms, but American flags. Don't know who they are. Whatever. And there's a gunfight, and we get in bin Laden's house. I get off to the room on the right.
Adam Carolla
Who's the gunfight with?
Rob O'Neill
The guys from the first helicopter had engaged. They were making entry into the bin Laden's house. As they were going through the front door, a terrorist popped into a window. And one of our guys was called a freeze. Down on a window, saw him, blasted him. The wife hopped on top, went for the gun, blasted her. And then two guys at the guest house had fired through the door and killed one of the brothers. So this happened before I got there, and.
Adam Carolla
Because one of the brothers.
Rob O'Neill
Both the brothers. So Abu Ahmed, the Abrah and Al Kuwaiti I forget their names.
Adam Carolla
Okay, so now you guys are in there. You got the dog.
Rob O'Neill
You got one dog stayed outside. He's outside.
Adam Carolla
Dog staying outside. He's working perimeter. By the way, the dog. How is the dog? How does it work with the dog if there's a bad guy?
Harvey Levin
Do you.
Adam Carolla
Well, how's the dog know who he's going after?
Rob O'Neill
They just know their noses. They know what they look like. I think one of our dogs bit Tom Brady because he was wearing sweats and celebrated in front of him once. And it looks like baggy clothing, shit like that. Really? Pretty sure he nicked his hand or his thigh.
Adam Carolla
Really?
Rob O'Neill
But they know the smells. I mean, we bring Church back. They know the bad. They just know the bad guys. They. A lot of the bad guys hate dogs, and dogs hate them. Like, it's crazy. There's a blood feud going. There's a reason.
Adam Carolla
So they smell that.
Rob O'Neill
Oh, yeah. And they don't see them. Like, we've had.
Adam Carolla
Not the handler going sick.
Rob O'Neill
Oh, no, you can. We can. So our lasers can turn from invisible. We have visible and invisible redlands, like with a fucking cat, right? And we can hit him. Like, make a. Roll your tongue to. The dog knows to attack and give him your laser, and you can send him right into a room. And he'll go in there and hit. And he knows. I mean, sometimes he bites the wrong person, sure. But you're sending a firm missile in there, and they'll. They are a force multiplier because that means a bite, not a death.
Adam Carolla
Right?
Rob O'Neill
Which is better.
Adam Carolla
Right.
Rob O'Neill
And so Cairo was the best dog we've ever had. There's a book written about him called no Ordinary Dog.
Harvey Levin
Is he still alive?
Rob O'Neill
No, but he'd retired with Will Chesney, his handler on the bin Laden raid, and he retired with him. So that book's incredible. Will wrote it, but he was there. But he was there for a scent.
Mint Mobile Announcer
But
Rob O'Neill
dogs, you can use them. There was a mission where a dog was going into tunnels and drainage ditches, pulling guys, getting into trees. I remember hearing a story. There's the one pager at the end of a mission. You just fill out what happened. The map of the area, then the commander's comments. And that's just a one paragraph. The commander, the overall mission. This dog, Vader, got so many kills and assists that all the commander said in the comments was, vader needs a cape. Wow, the dogs are just awesome. They're just. You can't. The only. The only negative thing about a Malinois, people will see Videos of them and think, oh, I want a Malinois. They're the best dogs in the world. But you need to. They need 20 hours a day of work, really. They need acres and acres of running and jumping and they want to work. They like tennis balls more than their treats.
Adam Carolla
So you get inside, the dog's on the outside. How many guys are on the outside?
Rob O'Neill
7.
Adam Carolla
Seven guys and the dog. Nobody ends up coming from the outside, right?
Rob O'Neill
No. There were locals leaving their houses to check on what's going on. Because Abbottabad, Pakistan, is not. It's a resort town town. It's a. It's kind of a country club town. There's a golf course up there.
Adam Carolla
Really.
Rob O'Neill
So the locals are coming out like. And Pakistan's the center of the universe in that part of the world. Like, it's. Pakistan runs everything over there. That part. Like, if you want to help Afghanistan go through Pakistan, whatever they decide to give away, then the Afghans get.
Adam Carolla
Right.
Rob O'Neill
So there's kind of. They don't. There was a guy outside tweeting the whole time and he was. Didn't understand why the. The pack mill was doing exercises on a Sunday.
Adam Carolla
Right.
Rob O'Neill
I actually saw him out there. I could have blasted him with my rules of engagement. Didn't. Because he's out there live tweeting about that shit. Crazy. But yeah, they were coming out and then we had an interpreter and he was yelling at people and I just basically said, go back inside. And if he's yelling at them in a perfect, no accent Urdu, they're like, all right, I guess this is stupid. We'll definitely tell the city council tomorrow.
Adam Carolla
So you're in the compound now. The guys are in there. How many bad guys are in the actual house or home?
Rob O'Neill
There was four. Well, there was bin Laden, his son Khalid, and then there was either Al Kuwaiti or Abrar. And then the wives who turn into bad guys if they martyr themselves or wear suicide vests or have guns under their burqas, which you run into. So I would say like three terrorists and then 20 unknowns, maybe less. I don't know the total number. And then the other hostage was one and then his wife. And it's just a matter of who's a bad guy at the. The time.
Adam Carolla
Is it assumed that he's in the main house?
Rob O'Neill
Yeah, I mean, the woman that found him was pissed at us every night we got done training because she would tell us right now, the guy Osam bin Laden's on the third floor of this building. And I don't Understand why we're not. I don't understand why we're not leaving. Have a good night's sleep. See you tomorrow. That, that was. Yeah, she knew he was there 100%. She was. I was convinced just because she was so convinced.
Adam Carolla
Why not just nuke the building?
Mint Mobile Announcer
The.
Rob O'Neill
That was an option. And I guess I wasn't in the meeting.
Adam Carolla
I guess, I mean, I get there's value to the body.
Rob O'Neill
Yes. I mean, you still haven't seen the pictures though.
Adam Carolla
There's probably better than living of the pictures.
Rob O'Neill
They haven't even released them yet.
Adam Carolla
Oh, right. So.
Rob O'Neill
Well, they have to trust us.
Dawson
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
That you got the bot.
Rob O'Neill
I didn't even see him get in. Buried at sea, so I don't even know if they did.
Adam Carolla
Right, so you nuke the building. I mean, look, if you go, we think Bin Laden's in that building and you just go light it up with a couple of rockets, then you gotta
Rob O'Neill
get him the Air Force answers. They needed a minimum of 22 JDAMs. So those are 2,000 pound bombs. And that's gonna wipe out the entire city? Well, that's the whole city. But that area is.
Adam Carolla
They needed that much.
Rob O'Neill
That's what they said they wanted to guarantee. But then you're never gonna find anything. And so you don't know. And so then it could. I mean, that's a psyop. Like was he really there?
Adam Carolla
Yeah, I get it. But it would seem like, okay, you just go, he's on the third floor.
Rob O'Neill
The woman wanted to bomb him. She wanted to bomb him.
Adam Carolla
Just take a couple of side or whatever and just put it right into it.
Rob O'Neill
People walk away from that shit.
Adam Carolla
Well, if he walks away, you can get him. But I mean, fair, but anyway, I've never really thought about it, but it just seemed like you wouldn't have to nuke the whole city to structure out.
Rob O'Neill
That was their answer.
Adam Carolla
So maybe they didn't want to do it, which I'm guessing. But they send you guys in and now you're after 1am and you're there and is it a go find the front door kind of situation?
Rob O'Neill
Yeah, we knew where we wanted to go. I was gonna jump into his balcony and there should have been a glass window I was gonna shoot through, but because there's doors there. Yeah, I'm just gonna go through the doors and then we've seen the pattern of life around it. So there's gonna be doors. So just get to them. They might be barricaded, but we've been training on that for our Entire careers.
Adam Carolla
Are you wearing night vision?
Rob O'Neill
Yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely.
Adam Carolla
And you're not. So you're using night vision. You're not doing anything that would illuminate you guys or make you talk.
Rob O'Neill
We're not even talking. We don't even say anything to each other.
Adam Carolla
No talking.
Rob O'Neill
No, because we even knew that if we're walking. Well, I mean, on every talk. We don't talk. You might as well. Here we.
Adam Carolla
Here we are. Right, Right. So no talking.
Rob O'Neill
Which confuses them, too, because they know they hear noises. But as far as Al Qaeda, I mean, this is Osama bin Laden. I mean, maybe it's Pakistan breaking down the doors to grab us, put us in a tank, and drive us to our next location.
Adam Carolla
You will see muzzle flash, I guess, if you're firing.
Rob O'Neill
Not us. We have suppressors.
Adam Carolla
So you don't see anything?
Rob O'Neill
Nothing. Even our lasers are invisible.
Adam Carolla
Does the suppressor suppress the sound? And the muzzle flash?
Rob O'Neill
You can tell it's us, but it's loud. Like, if you shoot a suppressor without ear protection, you're gonna know you're shooting a gun. Especially inside. It's loud. Yeah. Inside is loud.
Adam Carolla
So they don't see any muzzle flash. They don't see any flashlights. They don't even. The lasers. They can't see the lasers, but you can see the lasers.
Rob O'Neill
And we can put a floodlight on them. Like, we can light up their whole room. Like, if you shine your floodlight, your invisible floodlight at the sky, at the ceiling, Whole room's lit up. Except if you don't have night vision, you don't see it.
Pluto TV Announcer
Oh.
Rob O'Neill
So I've come around the corner on dudes trying to hide in shadows with guns, and it's like, I almost feel bad for you.
Adam Carolla
Right? Because it's essentially false sense of security. Right. He's seeing. He can't see his hand in front of his face.
Rob O'Neill
No.
Adam Carolla
And you're staring at him illuminated. But because you have night vision, he's
Rob O'Neill
illuminated with an invisible laser on his face. Face.
Adam Carolla
Right, right. Does the gun have a laser that.
Rob O'Neill
The laser's on the gun.
Adam Carolla
Oh, it's on the gun.
Rob O'Neill
Yeah. So I turn it on and off by how I see fit.
Adam Carolla
Right.
Rob O'Neill
But then you got to consider now, do they have night vision? That's why when I see movies, too, with a lot of floodlights going on the city, it's like, well, they have night vision. You're lighting up everybody, so be careful. You don't need to. If you don't need it, don't use it.
Adam Carolla
The night vision man. It's quite the advantage.
Rob O'Neill
Yeah, it's a complete advantage. It's, it's on, it's. It's like fighting a baby. It's not a. You don't have a prayer.
Adam Carolla
So you can see everything. Is the compound and is the home completely dark? Are there lights on?
Rob O'Neill
No, it was dark as long as we were there. The electricity did turn back on, which I still don't understand how that worked. And that could be something that the smart people did. But it was dark when we went in.
Adam Carolla
They shut the electricity. Possibly, possibly.
Rob O'Neill
Yes, I know. It was off.
Adam Carolla
Right, so now you're walking into the first floor of this dark home.
Rob O'Neill
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
Approximately how many square feet you think that house was?
Rob O'Neill
Probably 3,000 square feet, maybe 4,000. It's three stories.
Adam Carolla
Three stories?
Rob O'Neill
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
And you know, he's probably not on the bottom floor.
Rob O'Neill
No, he's on the top. And she even said to us, I know you don't want to know where it is, but you're gonna run into a stairwell and you will run into Khalid bin Laden on that stairwell and he will be armed and if you ace him, you get a shot at the big guy. Like she's matter of fact, like this is like, why aren't we going?
Adam Carolla
Why did she know so much?
Rob O'Neill
I just watched that movie last night and the best part of that movie is when Leon Panetta, being played by James Gandolfini, follows her into the cafeteria and said, what else have you done for the CIA? And she said, nothing.
Adam Carolla
Right?
Rob O'Neill
I've done, I do this, I've done this. That's it. She just, that was her. Bin Laden was her target.
Adam Carolla
So you go up the first staircase, you expect to see the son on the second floor.
Rob O'Neill
He was on the stairwell. She said, you will run into him. He'll be on the stairwell. He's the last line of defense. He'll be on the stairwell. That's just gonna be his human reaction to what is going on. He's gotta meet someone at the stairway to protect bin Laden.
Adam Carolla
Right. So you go up house sooner.
Rob O'Neill
But I would say about seven minutes into it maybe. But when we got to the stairwell, because of where we crashed, they crashed. They were in first because of where we landed outside because of their crash. I just had a front row seat, so I was able to watch the entire mission go down. So when we got to the stairwell, I was in the back and I was looking up the stairs like wondering what's gonna happen next. I'm knowing I should grab some guys and pull them back. Because if we're fighting up in an urban environment, a guy starts throwing grenades, it's bad, right? But we're gonna die tonight anyway. And I want to watch, I want to see how this goes down. And the point man, we're all quiet. The point man just whispered Khalid and come here in Arabic and Urdu to him. Just whispered it and it confused him. And he just leaned over and asked what. And he got shot in the face. Really badass. Yeah.
Adam Carolla
So you got him. Now you're continually going up the stairs. And you were in what place in this line.
Rob O'Neill
When we got to the second story, it split off to the left and right. And the guy that had been up front, he was still up front. He'd already taken a shot up the third set. And now he's pointing up through a curtain and he's by himself, which is fine because he's what we call the point man. And all these positions change as we move. It's very fluid. But I'm in the back and other guys split left and right. And I recognize as the last man he needs a two man. So I went up to him as a two man. His job is to point forward. Anywhere his eyes go, his gun goes, his eyes go. My job is to have positive contact, not control, which means I can touch his shoulder because he's got nothing on that. Or I can grab the back of his thigh because he's got nothing there. And he knows he's got a guy and he knows when he feels a squeeze, we have enough guys, it's time to go in the room. He's looking up and I'm looking back and I got nothing. We're down to. We're down, we've got nobody left. And he starts pimping me with his body language. Like what he's saying is, there's the suicide bombers, we can beat them. But the shitty news is we have to fucking go right now. Because they're putting them on, they're going to clack them, we got to beat them now. And, and I remember knowing that looking down and this is. I took a snapshot of my, my blow up boots. Like that's. I'm going to remember this. It's not bravery right now. This is. I'm tired of thinking about it. Get it over with, with. I squeezed him, we went up and we went through the curtain and he saw the two suicide bombers that he thought were. And he jumped on them. And that was amazing. You think about that.
Adam Carolla
How does he jump on him?
Rob O'Neill
He Just tackles him, grabs him and kind of moves him into the corner sort of. They may not have fallen, I'm not sure, but he moved them like to absorb the blast.
Adam Carolla
He didn't shoot him?
Rob O'Neill
No, he just grabbed him. But what was cool is he doesn't know that's me. He knows it's one of his guys. Admiral McRaven asked him when we, after we showed the admiral the body and told him what happened, he said, you jumped on suicide bombers, why would you do that? And he said, well, I didn't want the guy behind me to get hurt. That was crazy.
Adam Carolla
That's crazy.
Rob O'Neill
But because of our tactics, like, I'm a believer in getting really good at the easy shit. If you master the basics, you can do the other shit. And like the bin Laden compound, how did you guys clear something that complex? Like, well, the guy in front of me went left, I went right and we did that over and over and over. That's it. And because he did that, jumped on them, I turned to the right and there's Osama bin Laden standing there. And he's standing there, his wife's in front of him, Amal bin Laden. And she's right there. And I look at him and this is, they can put the leads from a suicide vest down. They do this down their robes onto their wrists. And these are the negative and positive. And all they gotta do is touch
Adam Carolla
them, uh huh, Put their hands and guess what?
Rob O'Neill
We're all fucking dead. So I see him, he's maneuvering now.
Adam Carolla
He, what is he seeing?
Rob O'Neill
Nothing. He knows there's people there.
Adam Carolla
He knows there's people there.
Rob O'Neill
He might see a little bit of green glow in my eyes maybe.
Adam Carolla
Right.
Rob O'Neill
But because I've dealt with suicide bombers, man, that is fast and permanent. You do not have, it's not a, oh look, kaboom.
Adam Carolla
It's like, right?
Rob O'Neill
And I just. The way you deal with suicide bombers, you shoot him, is in the face. So I caught him, I shot him in the face twice and then the third time on the floor and there's two of us in a room.
Adam Carolla
That's bin Laden.
Shopify Spokesperson
Yes.
Adam Carolla
Who now you know it's been laud.
Shopify Spokesperson
Yes.
Adam Carolla
And you know it's his wife.
Rob O'Neill
Yes.
Adam Carolla
Cause you've studied the intel and the pictures and stuff like that. We're unclear whether bin Laden has explosives on him or not at that point. But there's always the potential cuz they're wearing a sort of flowing robe and all they have to do is come together with the contacts, the negative and the Positive and everyone's gone. Are the instructions to kill bin Laden? Are the instructions to capture bin Laden? Is it? You know, obviously if he gives himself up, then you capture him as knowing
Rob O'Neill
SEAL Team Six, we're gonna kill him.
Adam Carolla
Right?
Rob O'Neill
That's it. We're gonna fucking kill him.
Adam Carolla
Right. But I would assume that the powers that be would have thoughts.
Rob O'Neill
The powers that be were considering a 10 year trial mockery of the United States.
Adam Carolla
Right.
Rob O'Neill
We asked actually Chesney, the guy who wrote no Ordinary Dog, and I asked Admiral Mike Mullen in, well, we're in Nevada at a place and when we're done training, he and I asked him, he was walking by to shake everyone's hands, give us a coin. And we said challenge coin.
Rudy Pavic
Yes.
Rob O'Neill
We said, Mr. Not Mr. Chairman, what are the rules of engagement on this one? And he said very carefully that Osama bin Laden is a physical threat to America. So you as an American, he's a physical threat to you. So when you see him, we're like,
Adam Carolla
we got it right.
Rob O'Neill
So never said kill him, but it was a kill mission.
Adam Carolla
They did not want to deal with the capture and the martyr, the martyrdom and the trial. And I mean the trial.
Rob O'Neill
Yeah. They didn't want to deal with, I
Adam Carolla

in such a kooky society that half the middle aged white women in America would take his side. Oh yeah, and there'd be marriage proposals in prison. They treat him like any of these. The guy who mangioni or something.
Dawson
Right.
Adam Carolla
So who the hell wants.
Rob O'Neill
I mean the man's got money. All you got to do is get in that will.
Adam Carolla
So you see it's him.
Rob O'Neill
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
You see it's his wife. You're not sure exactly if he's got explosives or the wife has explosives. So who takes the wife out?
Progressive Insurance Announcer
Out?
Rob O'Neill
She wasn't taken out.
Adam Carolla
She wasn't?
Rob O'Neill
No. After I shot him, I remember I was looking down at him. I could feel her right here. His tongue was out. I could see smoke coming out of his head like this is the last exhalation of Bassam Bin Laden. But I know that there are other seals, they're gonna be coming in quickly.
Adam Carolla
So you do two while he's standing and one in the ground very quickly.
Rob O'Neill
So it's, it's fast, right? And now I gotta move her and as I like as I'm moving her
Adam Carolla
gun on semi or full?
Rob O'Neill
I've never fired a full, I've never fired it full auto actually. No.416.
Adam Carolla
Never too much. Too much, no.
Rob O'Neill
The automatic weapons I Fire with SAW or an M60. This one's point targets. And then I had it down to weight. I will need this many rounds. And then the weight stops at one final bullet for yourself. So you got that? But I want to move her to the. So Bin Lad's at the foot of the bed. I want to move her to the top of the bed, right? So I'm just moving her. And then his two year old son was there, Hussein. And that's a weird moment for me because I have my father and I remember, I remember my thought was this fucking kid has nothing to do with this, right? Why, why does he have to see his dad get killed like right in front of him, like that's so fucked up. And I bring him back and then I turn and now.
Adam Carolla
So is this in the bedroom?
Rob O'Neill
It was in the bedroom, yeah.
Adam Carolla
So in the bedroom and is it. We can assume they were just asleep in bed, the two of them, before?
Shopify Spokesperson
No.
Rob O'Neill
We knew they'd probably be up and then.
Adam Carolla
Well, no, they're up, but I just mean before the hilos came in, they were just sleeping. And where is the 2 year old? Is he in the bedroom?
Rob O'Neill
He was in bedroom.
Adam Carolla
All three are in bed.
Rob O'Neill
It ended up being two daughters, the son, the wife and Osama bin Laden. Two or three daughters, yeah. So the people he thought were suicide bombers were actually the daughters, but he assumed they were just whatever the point. May didn't know that. And so then actually that was. They got the word that they said, you got that? Sheikh Osama is what they said in Arabic to our Arabic speaker who's a seal from a different squadron.
Adam Carolla
Right, so he gets two bullets quick, he goes down, he gets one more in the head.
Rob O'Neill
Yes. I haven't seen the pictures, they haven't been released. My gloves are in them. I was pointing, I was pouring water, I'm trying. And his face was apart. So the latest controversy is going to be. Well, you said his face and now it's his head. It's like I don't fucking know. Whatever, man. His head was blown up and I was holding it together in the pictures that we took.
Adam Carolla
Oh, you're literally trying to put that.
Rob O'Neill
Yeah, I had a poor analogy, my own analogy on his face to get some shit off his face. And then I want a picture of his face. So we got that picture, right?
Adam Carolla
Because if you just took it as it was, it would be unrecognizable.
Rob O'Neill
It was bad.
Adam Carolla
It was split open.
Rob O'Neill
Yes.
Adam Carolla
What size round?
Rob O'Neill
5, 5, 6.
Adam Carolla
Is that.
Rob O'Neill
It's like 2, 2, 3.
Adam Carolla
Is that how much?
Rob O'Neill
It's a 22, but it's a higher grain, so same more velocity. I use a hollow point, which I. I'm not sure if you can can so.
Adam Carolla
But it's only about size of a 22. It is 22, but the hollow point causes all the problem. And I'm guessing it's done for weight issues. I mean, I just know this.
Rob O'Neill
The 77 hollow point I just knew was a devastator. Like this. This will kill you. And you can switch in like a solo frangible round. And then like we have green tip, which is a tungsten penetrator, but that's more for shooting through body armor. So right when the big wars start, then we're fighting. We're fighting body armor.
Adam Carolla
Are you wearing body armor right now?
Rob O'Neill
No. During the mission? Yes. That helmet? Yeah. Some of our guys wouldn't. If guys were going to be climbing, they would. They like we were. We would cut our gear down to whatever mission. We were having an argument in Iraq because our snipers were. They would climb the roof. So they stopped wearing body armor and they started carrying fewer and fewer rounds. And I. I remember one. It was our final target. We're doing what's called a turnover operation with a squadron that's replacing us. So nothing is going to happen. We're giving them a soft target. We're just showing our standard operation. Naturally, we got in one of the biggest gunfights of the deployment. And one of the snipers I'd been yelling at because he had no body armor and just a light helmet with nods. One magazine in his pocket and one in his gun, and he's in a gunfight. We're triangulated and he's shooting whatever. I'm in the thing on the bottom. And he goes, hey, Nizral, give me a mag. Because he was out. And I said, fuck you. I've been telling you to carry more rounds. And his response was, come on, I can still hear the guy screaming.
Adam Carolla
Yeah, the Weight.
Rob O'Neill
Yeah, they got to climb and sometimes agility and speed.
Adam Carolla
You rather.
Rob O'Neill
When we went up the mountain to rescue the trail, I didn't wear body armor.
Adam Carolla
Right.
Rob O'Neill
Just carry too many rounds.
Adam Carolla
But that's heavy. So you get the one round. Sorry, two quick rounds in the head, the third on the ground.
Rob O'Neill
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
Is the third on the ground? I mean, I know it's. I don't know if the word is protocol.
Rob O'Neill
No.
Adam Carolla
But I'm saying you knew he had two in the head and that was that.
Rob O'Neill
It is so fast, and I don't know where the leads are. And I need him immobile.
Adam Carolla
Right.
Rob O'Neill
And his mobility decides whether or not I get to see my kids again. And these three shots were probably taken in less than a second.
Adam Carolla
Oh, on the ground.
Rob O'Neill
I don't walk up to him and execute him. And I got work to do.
Dawson
Right.
Adam Carolla
Okay.
Rob O'Neill
And even when I was looking down at him, I'm already moving them all. It's like I remember his tongue. Like, this guy's not moving. He's dead. And then we did find out he's not moving, wearing anything. And we didn't. The guys didn't find the gun till like five minutes later.
Adam Carolla
So then you got the wife and she's doing what?
Rob O'Neill
Well, she's, she's startled, but I think she was talking to him before that.
Adam Carolla
Right.
Rob O'Neill
And I think I. Her version says, he was saying, they're not here for you, they're here for me. And she wouldn't leave them or some.
Mint Mobile Announcer
Right.
Rob O'Neill
But then when I move her back, she just sat on the bed. We put Hussein next to her. And then the other kids were being talked to by the Arabic speaker.
Adam Carolla
Hussein's the same.
Rob O'Neill
Yes, the two year old. And then we got to walk back. If you kill a guy, you take his picture. So I'm walking to him and I sort of stumbled. Not stumbled, I sort of stopped to get my shit. And one of the guys recognized that and he said, hey, are you okay? I said, yeah, man. What do we do now? And he smiled and said, now we find the computers. We do this every night, hundreds of times we do this. And I said, yeah. Holy shit. And he said, yeah, you just killed Osama bin Laden. Your life just changed. Nobody fucking cares. Get to work.
Adam Carolla
And you had to physically hold his head together and dump water on it to sort of clear.
Rob O'Neill
Clear it up. And then we got, we got pictures. And then. And then it turned into, now let's leave and let's just do a quick sensitive site exploitation. Let's. And then we Discovered the. The second floor office building, not office spaces.
Adam Carolla
You got to take the body with you.
Rob O'Neill
So we had guys putting him in a body bag. We brought a body bag with us for that. They were putting him in there. And then I started searching. The second I ran into Cairo, the. The dog was doing a sweep of the whole house now. Ran into him. We got the Geronimo call, which was the pro word for we're. We didn't name him Geronimo. We said geronimo is in honor of Chief Geronimo, the Native American warrior saying we're with bin Laden. Then we said ekia meaning enemy killed in action, meaning I'm at the spot, he is dead, without saying, hey, we killed bin Laden type shit, right? I think his, his objective name was actually Cake Bread. So it was Operation Neptune's Spear. And then Cake Bread was his because I think the girls like Kick Red or some.
Adam Carolla
So now one helo's crashed, right?
Rob O'Neill
One is crashed. So now we have to. I think there was a conversation whether or not we could fly it out. And I, I wasn't in the conversation, but I think one of the pilots was saying he might be able to because he knew the sensitivity of this, this technology that someone from Mars flew down here and gave it to us, whatever the shit it was, right. And we, I guess our ground force commander said, no fucking, we're gonna blow it up. So we got to send one.
Rudy Pavic
We will.
Rob O'Neill
One of our EOD guys was there, but he went through selection for Seal Team 6. So he's an EOD green. He's a stud. He's going to go blow up a demolitions guy, demos expert, also an assaulter. But you want. In case we have to blow the whole house, he's going to do it. He's there. He's also a shooter, which makes sense. He and one of our breaches are going to go outside and blow it up. Then we need. We don't have our Air Force guys with us, and they're our combat controllers and they're the deadliest man on the battlefield. If you see an Air Force guy with a big radio, he's going to win. Be nice. But he, he also calls in the. The next birds that we got to call on. So we have to do it. So one of our snipers are gonna do that.
Adam Carolla
I'm with him.
Rob O'Neill
That was actually the sniper that rescued Richard Phillips. He's gonna call that jet, and that's a bird that's not stealth. It's a 47A Chinook. So it's bigger than a school bus. Two rotors.
Adam Carolla
Right.
Rob O'Neill
But it's also our fastest helicopter, which is nice.
Adam Carolla
Is it?
Rudy Pavic
Yeah.
Rob O'Neill
Yeah. It's a lot of power on that thing.
Mint Mobile Announcer
Yes.
Adam Carolla
Your fastest ground speed.
Rob O'Neill
Yeah. It'll outrun everything. So I do like being in that
Adam Carolla
Apache would be faster or something.
Rob O'Neill
This thing moves. So we're gonna call him in to pick us up and we're gonna give the first team our helicopter with the body. So we ran back up the point man and I grabbed him with two other guys, brought him out.
Adam Carolla
The body.
Rob O'Neill
The body with bin Laden. The body back with bin Laden in it. The EOD guy and the breacher were blowing that up. So we went outside. That's where I saw the guy that was tweeting. He's out there with his phone. We almost blew this helicopter up. Because our helicopter with the body and the first team left. We revived a conversation with how long was that time for you on the bomb? And it's 30 seconds.
Mint Mobile Announcer
Okay.
Rob O'Neill
Abort this pass. So they fly off, we blow that up, thinking that could have been bad.
Adam Carolla
How far. How long was the helo trip from base to bin Laden?
Rob O'Neill
90 minutes.
Adam Carolla
90 minutes.
Dawson
Yep.
Rob O'Neill
And then it's 90 minutes out.
Adam Carolla
Right.
Rob O'Neill
And that. And when we finally called them in, which. Which this is a cool part of the story because there's another group from Seal Team 6 on that helicopter but being flown by more pilots and more air crew. So The army and Seal Team 6 actually rescued Seal Team 6 on the bin Laden mission. That's cool. That's a cool story.
Adam Carolla
So you're back on your original chopper?
Rob O'Neill
No, they are. The first team that crashed got our helicopter. And the body.
Adam Carolla
And the body.
Rob O'Neill
And they went up to a mountaintop where there was another Chinook waiting with fuel. So they're going to refuel that Chinook and a Stealth are going to fly out and then we are just going to haul line of sight. Right. When we got to live 90 minutes across the border of Afghanistan, then we mission complete.
Adam Carolla
Right.
Rob O'Neill
So that's. And then we've got 90 minutes to think about getting shot down.
Adam Carolla
You got back to the base at approximately what time?
Rob O'Neill
It would have been 3am I guess 90 minute flight and 47. You know this after three. 47 minutes on the ground. 52 minutes on the ground. I think it was 47 minutes.
Adam Carolla
Was it Miller time?
Rob O'Neill
Yeah, we, we got. When we. When we finally. Because there was a lot of tension in that bird.
Adam Carolla
Yeah.
Rob O'Neill
Looking at your watch. Like, I don't want to think of I don't want to say it to jinx it, and I don't want to think about it, but we're almost pitching that no hitter, right? And then across the pie to go. All right, gentlemen, for the first time in your life, you're going to be happy to hear this. Welcome to Afghanistan. And then you land. The other bird lands are all there. And yeah, we, it was a. We flew them up to Bagram, which is the main base, and that's where the CIA is and all their whatever, and they're, they're doing the DNA tests and, and we know that. So we got CBs up there anytime you're on a bay. Then they're the construction guys.
Adam Carolla
This fighting cbc.
Rob O'Neill
Yes, yes.
Adam Carolla
And John Wayne movie, I think.
Dawson
Go ahead.
Rob O'Neill
It is.
Adam Carolla
Yeah.
Rob O'Neill
And if you. You can follow every minute of everything I've ever said on a microphone, you will not hear me say a bad thing about Seabees. I fucking love them.
Adam Carolla
They're great.
Rob O'Neill
They're gonna have a pizza oven. They're gonna have whiskey and fucking beer. We know that. So we're gonna go over and see that. And they have showers. I'm still on my shit, right? And so we're having this high five moment. Bin Laden's body's right here. And the CIA is doing whatever they do, and they bring in these breakfast sandwiches and we have a TV on. It's on. And Barack Obama came down a red carpet on it with a red tie, and he said, tonight I can report to the American people and to the world. The United States conduct an operation that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of Al Qaeda. I hear the president say, Osama bin Laden. Look at Osama bin Laden and look at my sandwich and think, how did I get here from Butte, Montana? Type moment. Wow. Eat that shit. Go to see the Seabees. Take a shower, whiskey, drink cigars, everyone's happy. And then someone gets on Yahoo to check email. It's all, Seal Team 6 kills Osama bin Laden. I'm like, oh, I guess there's that, right? Yeah, just name leaked instantly.
Adam Carolla
Really.
Rob O'Neill
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
When did your name get out?
Rob O'Neill
That started as soon as I killed him. Which was weird to see because I was known for telling jokes. Jokes, and, And I'm a big believer if your people want to be at work, they're going to work harder. So there's nothing wrong with knowing a good joke to. And so I know how to tell stories. And my nickname was Nizro. Navy SEAL Rob o', Neill, because they could say, what up my nizro. And it sounded funny. And I heard, I heard someone say who? Because every SEAL and every SEAL that didn't see it said who got him. And I heard someone say nisro. And the other guy said we're never gonna hear the end of this. And so that happened. And people were saying that and so radio calls and whatnot. And then we had like a 17 hour flight back but people have phones, my name had spread. We land in Virginia Beach. It was there. We had people working in the White House. It was there and it was out in San Diego. My name had just spread like that. And it kind of, you know, it kind of sucks. But it did. And you know I was like no big deal. I guess I won't go back to the squadron. I'll just. I want to be an instructor or a trainer. I'll retire 30 years. It's just everything was great until August. So May we killed them May 1, May 2, August 6, extortion. 17 was shot to down and 31Americans were killed. 17 guys from Seal Team 6 were on that bird. Entire troop of guys we knew. And so we went from the highest morale from planning missions to planning funerals.
Adam Carolla
Right.
Rob O'Neill
And everything took a shit. So we got bad blood. You got to figure the SEAL team. I know how I felt like we watch months after the bin Laden raid I watched my friends jump into Africa and rescue Jessica Buchanan from Somali pirates. I was jealous because why the am I not there? So I can imagine being picked for the Bin Laden team being that close and not getting him. What the fuck. So that was losing friends. Just this animosity kicked up and it just. And we were getting flown around the Bin Laden team to different politicians and. And like sure a lot of my guys are silent guys like they're going to retire. They're going to get their fucking farm. They're going to live there and not. You're never going to hear. They don't want to be out getting awards in front of people.
Adam Carolla
Right.
Rob O'Neill
Just the whole, it soured the whole mood for everything. It was, it was just. It turned into a shit show.
Adam Carolla
He was buried at sea. How long after?
Rob O'Neill
Well allegedly we right after we handed him off to the army there was two dudes from probably Delta for gave them to and then they flew him out to the. Not the Vincennes but it was a carrier the one of them. But I mean there's a, there's a. There's a pad eye out there that's marked red where they threw them. We have the coordinates. I just didn't see it.
Adam Carolla
Right. Literally the next day, right then.
Rob O'Neill
And I disagreed with that. You said you didn't need to do that. Their argument was, well, we don't want a shrine. It's like, well, you don't understand Sunni, especially the Salafist version of Sunni Islam, which ISIS and Al Qaeda, they don't make shrines, they kill people. When you draw Muhammad, you do not depict a false idol. So you don't make a shrine to Osama either. They wouldn't have done that.
Adam Carolla
Oh, interesting.
Rob O'Neill
But you try to tell our leadership anything that makes sense, and they won't listen.
Adam Carolla
Let me give you a plug, Rob. Rob's a good dude, by the way. And him and his Navy SEAL buddies came out saw in Vegas the other week.
Rob O'Neill
Oh, we had a blast.
Adam Carolla
Yeah, they came to the comedy show.
Rob O'Neill
Great standards.
Adam Carolla
I'm glad you had a good time. I was really.
Rob O'Neill
You are the master of our humor. That is our humor right there. The makes sense blue collar shit. I swear.
Adam Carolla
Oh, good.
Rob O'Neill
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
Fucking love it. Take that website and by the way, the company operators collective. But the website theoperatorscollective.com is where you go.
Rob O'Neill
That's correct.
Adam Carolla
We can go there to find everything out about Rob and the company.
Shopify Spokesperson
Yep.
Rob O'Neill
We started out with my speaking and there's times that I can't make it. And I give lessons on our leadership and I our tactics and how it applies. And if I can't make it, one of my other guys from Seal Team 6 can. We got Will Chesley, the guy I keep mentioning. We got a guy that left Seal Team 6 spent 18 months into Serbian prison. Lessons learned like that. And then we can do workshops, leadership just based on what we did, the simplicity of our tactics.
Adam Carolla
Always great catching up with my brother, Rob o'.
Harvey Levin
Neal.
Dawson
All right, Adam Corolla, we got to talk about horrible drivers. What has got you annoyed lately about horrible drivers?
Adam Carolla
Well, there's the perennial all star stuff, like the non signaling people. And it drives me nuts because it's not like you have to get out of the car to signal. It's just a stick that is literally three quarters of an inch behind your knuckle as you hold the steering wheel. It's just you don't have to even remove your hand. I just put my fingers up of that. It's a thing where it's like I want people to know when I'm changing lanes for my safety. Like we could avoid so many accidents. Also, there's the person now the most annoying person on the Planet is the person who pulls into the right lane, stops at the red, the left lane is open, and they're not turning right, they're going straight. Now you're turning right, and you would turn right if you were there and they were in the left lane, but they're gonna sit in the right lane with the left lane open and not turn right. And now you have to wait for the signal to cycle so you can turn right, but they don't signal. So you never really know. Right now there's a worst person in the world. The worst person in the world who goes, sits in the right lane and then ends up going straight and doesn't need to be in that right lane. The second worst person in the world goes in that right lane and when the light changes, turns right, but never put their signal on. If they put their signal on, I'd be honking, going, go ahead.
Dawson
I would actually argue that person is worst. If you're sitting in the right lane and then you take the right, then you are not only a horrible driver, you're an insane person.
Adam Carolla
I have people coming at me in parking lots and stuff where. And I'm like, are you turning right or you're turning left? I have people on small streets, like coming into the main street and they don't use it. And I'm like, I don't know if you're turning the direction I'm going. The other thing I don't like, it just happened to be back there. I don't like when people point the wrong direction. I was just talking to a guy back there and he said, we used to have a club in Hollywood. And he pointed towards suddenly Simi Valley. I was like, it's that way. I don't know why it bothers me,
Dawson
but maybe that's why people don't use their blinkers. They don't know which direction is actually right or left.
Adam Carolla
It should be on every freeway sign everywhere. Just use your blinker. It would avoid so many accidents. And by the way, way poor guys on motorcycles who don't know when someone's changing a lane because they won't use their blinker. By the way, you know, I was yelling about guys on motorcycles never using their horn. Got a motorcycle honk the other day.
Dawson
Really?
Adam Carolla
First time, not even to me, just splitting traffic, getting on the horn, just
Dawson
letting people know instead of revving that right hand throttle.
Adam Carolla
The most passive aggressive thing is when they just redlined that thing. They got that Kawasaki at 11,000 rpm because somebody he is driving and didn't see them because why should we see him? You dress in all black Johnny Cash. All right, all right.
Dawson
Well, if one of these idiots actually hits you, that's when you call Morgan. And Morgan, their fee is free unless they win. Yeah, that's right. Their fee is free unless they win. It's time to check Adam's voicemail.
Rob O'Neill
Hey, Adam, my son just got a job at Home Depot and he says he sees a lot of theft, but they're not allowed to chase them, follow them, go after them or say anything. I'm just wondering, how would you, Adam Carolla, as governor president, how would you handle retail theft at big box stores? All right, brother, get it on.
Dawson
You can leave us a message at 888-634-1744.
Adam Carolla
Well, I would get flatbed trucks and I would arm them with big howitzer type guns and I would fill them with Norplant. That's the birth control that you plant underneath your skin from like 25 years ago. They used to do a subcutaneous one, I think, where they just cut a little. They put that Norplant right on it.
Dawson
Right.
Adam Carolla
Looked like taking a little cigarette and just putting it underneath Your skin on your coulee or something like that.
Rudy Pavic
Interesting.
Adam Carolla
I would arm that howitzer with Norplant belt fed like an A10 Warthog Phalanx gun. And I would have my. I don't want to call them secret police, but folks that work for me that should be in uniform, but plain clothes.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah. Private sort of private security types.
Adam Carolla
Black rock kind of guys. And I would have them patrol the streets of Los Angeles and other metropolitan cities, mostly blue ones, in the wee hours, somewhere between 1 and 4am and if I see any woman stumbling around, you know what I mean? Just pow. You get in the Norplant. So what I'm doing is I'm cutting off the supply. Everyone else does a sort of retroactive. I do a proactive. So your idea is put everything in a cage? My idea is take the people shitting out the criminals and put them in a cage.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
And hit them with the nor plant.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah. Well, you're going down the route of freakonomics. Those guys took a lot of heat because in their first book they wrote about how when abortion became legal in New York State, the 13 years afterwards, the amount of juvenile crime literally plummeted
Adam Carolla
like 85% because all the people who shouldn't have had kids didn't have kids. I said black rock, I meant black water. Sorry, different security group. As a matter of fact, I shouldn't even said BlackRock, because they don't exist.
Rudy Pavic
You're right, man. Gonna get us in trouble, Ace.
Adam Carolla
Yeah. So we gotta nip. As long as there's gonna be a lot of people who are out there willing to do this, you're gonna have a problem. And as far as city officials go and things like that, what we can't have is the next mayor of Los Angeles blaming Toyota for catalytic convention, catalytic converters, thefts. We have to have whoever we need to lock up the people doing it, not asking Home Depot what they're doing about it.
Rudy Pavic
I do like the guys that are the plain clothes security guys walking around who, when you're looking at stuff, they sort of saddle up next to you about four or five feet and they pick up obviously a tool or something that they have no idea what they're looking at.
Adam Carolla
Oh, hold on, you're right. Another. What would solve this is another application for my tacros.
Rudy Pavic
Oh, yeah.
Adam Carolla
You see anyone running in a parking lot at Home Depot, you fucking hit them hard, hit them hard in the head, they'll drop that battery operated 18 volt salsa lickety split. All right. Before we get to the news. There was this Harvey Levin thing. There's so many people, it's kind of weird. They don't know what the fuck is going on around them. I realize a lot of my friends on the left, it's not that they're liars per se. They don't know what's going on. It's kind of a weird thing when you watch people like Mike August. All he does, he gets all his information from the Drudge Report, right? And then you go, you say to him something like, I was talking to guys who did those viral videos for Spencer Pratt. And then Mike will go, our video. And I'll go, no, the. The viral stuff for Pratt. And then he'll go, the one we did with him. I go, mike, that was me interviewing him. I'm talking about the virus, the stuff. The Pratt videos, the viral stuff. And I go, I don't know what that is.
Rudy Pavic
You sent it to me, Mike.
Adam Carolla
Yeah, no, he doesn't. He doesn't see it. It's not in his feed. You know what I mean? So it's like the people that do that, like, first off, first off, shouldn't somebody come up to me and say, how did you know everything about COVID before anyone else knew about it? Who are you watching? And how can I start watching them instead of, fuck off, troll? Do you know what I mean? Like, how did I get all this information? Now? Gavin Newsom and Harvey Levin, their number one excuse is, we didn't have the information, you didn't have it, but I had it. Joe Rogan had it. Where do we get it? Yeah, okay, so Harvey is. Everyone's very upset about Fauci because they all deemed him to be a hero and they all loved the man. And instead of just eating a dick and saying, you were wrong, oh, hold on. It's Harvey Levin. Instead of just eating some pussy and saying, well, you know, it's a two way street, and saying, you were wrong, you have to fucking turn backflips. You have to bend yourself into a pretzel with some sort of speech. All right, let's just listen to it. And I like Harvey, but here we go.
Harvey Levin
I have not used TMZ's YouTube channel to vent personal feelings about issues. But I'm going to do that today. Watching Anthony Fauci before for a congressional hearing, Taking the Fifth Amendment is just one of the most heartbreaking things I have seen in government in my lifetime.
Adam Carolla
Hold on. Pause it. I'll tell you what's heartbreaking. Him closing schools, churches, and putting Businesses under. That's a big government heartbreak.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
For the guys who own Tinhorn Flats up the street who no longer have a family business, that's kind of heartbreaking for them. Harvey.
Dawson
That is heartbreaking. What's also heartbreaking is a lawyer who doesn't understand the law.
Adam Carolla
Yes.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah. When you have employers that are telling employees, especially when I'm in Minnesota, that you are not allowed to come back to work until you get this jab, that's also heartbreaking and terrible.
Adam Carolla
Yes. All right. But you're heartbroken, Harvey. He took the fifth 111 times. But here we go.
Harvey Levin
A congressional hearing. Taking the Fifth Amendment is just one of the most heartbreaking things I have seen in government in my lifetime. And this is something we need to reckon with. That I'm going to say up front, I have problems. The way the CDC handled Covid, I think that they did damage to children, to adults. And I don't think they did it maliciously. I think they did it because they were using.
Adam Carolla
Okay. I had an airplane pilot, and he flew into a mountain. I don't think he did it on purpose. He was this fucking horrible pilot. Or maybe he was drunk. It's like. I'm sorry. When you get yourself into these positions and you're shutting down schools and you're hurting kids and you're forcing them to get vaccines, it doesn't really matter if it's malicious or not. It's called vehicular manslaughter. It's not called chasing down a Mexican on a bicycle. It's just, you were texting and a guy swerved in front of you on a bike, and he's dead, and now you're in jail. So it didn't need to be on purpose. It was on purpose. They did most all of it volitionally and on purpose. And you don't know that, Harvey, because you don't know anyone who knows that, and you won't hang out with anyone who knows that. They did most of it on purpose. They had the fucking information. That's what we're talking about. I know you're trying to protect them. By the way your cues for them is they're bad at their job and make horrible decisions that affect the public negatively. That's the best you can do, is they don't know what the fuck they're talking about. So they implemented a bunch of draconian rules that fucking ruined people's lives and people OD'd and killed themselves.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah. Also try having a couple people on staff at TMZ that don't know what they're doing. How long are you gonna keep them around? If that's your excuse, that these people were just misinformed and weren't great at their task, then get rid of them. Why do we have them?
Adam Carolla
All right, so let's hear.
Harvey Levin
I don't think they did it maliciously. I think they did it because they were using their judgment and were overprotective. And I think at times overstated things. Things they said they knew but really didn't.
Adam Carolla
All right, hold on. But what about all the stuff that Fauci did know, didn't overstate things? He didn't know. He knew masks didn't work. He knew six foot was a lie. He knew the lockdowns were a bad idea. Or at least he backed off them. Listen, if you think something's a good idea and someone goes, you suggested lockdowns. You go, fucking right I suggested lockdowns. It worked. But you distance yourself from everything you said. Wasn't me. Nuh. I didn't say that. I didn't say that. Why not fucking own the shit? You said if it did work and you thought it was the right thing to do at the time. But we also know that you inflated the mortality rate like 100 fold on this shit. Or at least tenfold on this shit. And we had it early that you knew the origins. You knew it came from a lab. You knew it didn't come from wet market. So, Harvey, your buddy was lying. Your saintly buddy was lying. He wasn't wrong. I don't think anyone wants to punish anyone over innocent mistakes. It's hubris and lying that we wanna punish people over.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah, wouldn't it be nice if people just took accountability? Like the Kyle Shanahan story that just came out where he caused that accident and then it was in the paper, hey, it was this girl's fault. And he went on record as saying, no, no, no, it was my fault. It's nice to have people that step up when somebody in their life does something shitty.
Adam Carolla
But the mainstream media is going to protect Fauci because they're all up his ass and now they look like fucking idiots.
Dawson
So in a way, they're complicit.
Adam Carolla
Yes, here we go, Harvey.
Harvey Levin
Overprotective and I think at times overstated things. Things they said they knew but really didn't. And I have personal problems with the way that Covid was handled. That said, Anthony Fauci, over a period of decades, has been an amazing public servant, by the way.
Adam Carolla
You can pause. OJ Was a pretty good football player. That guy won the Heisman. Yeah, and his first at 2,000 yards.
Rudy Pavic
Dude, I would have never used Hertz if It wasn't for O.J. simpson.
Adam Carolla
And he was great in the Naked Gun shirt.
Rob O'Neill
Yeah, absolutely.
Dawson
I think Ted Bundy was a pretty good baby early on.
Adam Carolla
He was a good babysitter. Toss and Mr. Point. Now, what I'm saying is, is there's plenty of people that had many, many years of great accomplishments and achievements, and then at the end, they killed somebody.
Dawson
Well, I disagree with that. Fauci had all these great achievements over the years. He was Ted Bunny killing people years ago.
Adam Carolla
I agree with you on that. But I will say to Harvey, fine. He put together a nice string, and at the end, he funded gain of Fauci. Gain of function at a Wuhan lab. It got out. He lied to everyone, and millions of people died, and he knew about it, so. Yeah, but again, there's tons and tons of guys that did a bunch of really good stuff their whole career. And then at the very end, then Phil Spector shot a waitress.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
Before that, it was the Wall of Sound. And the Beatles and George Harrison and the Ronettes. And then he shot somebody.
Mint Mobile Announcer
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
Okay, there we go.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah. Hopefully they remember Phil Spector for his music and they start to remember Fauci for the bullshit that he put all of us through instead of the other way around.
Adam Carolla
All right, so Moore, with more with
Harvey Levin
Harvey of decades, has been an amazing public servant. In the 80s, I had many friends who died of AIDS, a horrible, painful death. And I had friends who lived because of Anthony Fauci, because he was willing to look at experimental drugs.
Adam Carolla
Phil Spector worked with Brian Wilson and made some of the greatest pop music ever created. Okay, and then he shot a waitress. Then he shot a waitress. And then he went to jail.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
Okay, should we not put him in jail or what should we do? He did a lot of good stuff.
Rudy Pavic
Do you know how many times I wanted to go out and get Covid, but instead I sat around listening to the Beach Boys? I'm telling you. See those guys? Yeah.
Adam Carolla
All right, let's hear Harvey.
Harvey Levin
Because he was willing to look at experimental drugs in a different way than they had looked at them before, and that really resulted in life. And he has done so many other things in his career to thwart epidemics, to save lives, not just in the United States, but all over the world.
Adam Carolla
Then he shot Lana Clarkson. Then he shot Lana Clarkson. At the end. At the end, he shot Lana Clarkson. And then he died in prison.
Harvey Levin
Keep going Lives, not just in the United States, but all over the world. He has been a dedicated public servant who could have made a lot more money outside of government than inside, but he stayed. And now we are at a point where members of Congress and yes, you, Rand Paul, are on a witch hunt. And you're. You know, the best I can say for Rand Paul is that he's being really honest. I mean, he has said now over a period of years, he wants Anthony Fauci in a jail cell. He has said it out loud.
Adam Carolla
All right, pause.
Harvey Levin
He wants.
Adam Carolla
They do this shit all the time. Like, what's Trump doing? He's going after his enemies.
Rob O'Neill
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
They tried to imprison Trump with bullshit charges times a dozen.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
Yes. This thing of like, this is retribution. Haven't you guys seen a western? They killed his wife, they killed his cattle, and now he. He wants revenge.
Rudy Pavic
Absolutely.
Adam Carolla
That's how westerns were.
Rudy Pavic
John Wick.
Adam Carolla

Adam Carolla
Yes. Rand Paul is personally wanting to go after Fauci because he accused him of. Of funding gain of function in Wuhan in the lab. Because we basically offshored it. It's illegal to do here. So instead we moved it there and then we paid for it. And Fauci knew about it. And Rand Paul doesn't like deadly outbreaks, so he would like to prosecute the person that committed what is a crime.
Dawson
It's called justice.
Adam Carolla
Yeah, I know. It's such a personal beef Rand Paul has. Like, they do this all the time. Like he's got personal beef with him.
Rudy Pavic
Him.
Adam Carolla
He's got personal be. No, no. These guys did a whole bunch of shit and caused a bunch of destruction, and now we would like them brought to fucking justice. Harvey. That's what it is.
Dawson
Reckoning.
Adam Carolla
It's called the reckoning. I mean, they act like it came from nothing. Well, he had to be pardoned. Why did. Why did Foushee have to be pardoned if he didn't do anything? By the way, you know who didn't do anything? Trump. He didn't do anything. And guess who's president right now. Not in prison because he didn't do anything. You tried. And you can try, but if you didn't do anything, then you're not going anywhere.
Dawson
I love. I love how he says that Foushee could have made so much more money in the private sector. I call bullshit on that. The New York Post reported that Foushee's fortune doubled from around 7 million in 2019 to 15 million by 2023. So I think he made a lot of effing money working for the government.
Adam Carolla
The book deal alone. Jesus Christ. All right, let Harvey continue. Who I like, by the way. I like Harvey. Go ahead. He's just wrong. But he represents all the people on the left who have no fucking idea what was done to them and what just happened. He has no fucking idea of Congress.
Harvey Levin
And, yes, you, Rand Paul, are on a witch hunt. And you're. You know, the best I can say for Rand Paul is that he's being really honest. I mean, he has said now over a period of years, he wants Anthony Fauci in a jail cell. He has said it out loud. He wants him in a jail cell. That's the point of this hearing. That's why they're doing this. They want to take something that Anthony Fauci says and then claim it amounts to perjury. And they want to prosecute him. They want to convict him, and they want to throw him in prison. That's the point of this hearing. There is no other point of this hearing.
Adam Carolla
There could be.
Harvey Levin
I mean, there are things they could certainly ask him, but he can't answer, because if he answers, it doesn't matter what he says. You know, if you can prosecute somebody for fricking seashells on the beach shore, then you could certainly prosecute. Prosecute somebody for what they say in a congressional hearing. And that's the climate we're in. We are in a Senator Joseph McCarthy climate.
Pluto TV Announcer
Good.
Adam Carolla
Where, listen, Communism is evil, and I don't want it in our ranks. So McCarthy was right, by the way. They do all this time. All the time. Like Joseph McCarthy. Joseph McCarthy. You guys just tried to do the McCarthyism with everyone who wouldn't get vaccinated and everyone who had an alternative opinion about COVID and everybody who said maybe it was a lab leak and maybe Ivermectin worked. And no, I don't wanna get this experimental jab. Every single one of those people, your people tried to remove from their job and their livelihood and keep them from restaurants and churches. So don't give me the fucking McCarthyism speech. Jesus Christ.
Dawson
He also talks about how he's pleading the Fifth. The only idea of this hearing is the only thing that he could possibly be charged with is lying to Congress. So when you plead the Fifth, you are saying if I tell you the truth, it proves that I lied from Congress, so I need to protect myself from prosecution. Right.
Adam Carolla
But Levin, Harvey doesn't know anything. He doesn't hear anything. He's basically Mike looking at the Drudge Report going, spencer Pratt. What? Yeah, that's how these guys live their lives. All right, here we go.
Harvey Levin
What he says, you know, if you can prosecute somebody for fricking seashells on the beach shore, then you could certainly prosecute somebody for what they say in a congressional hearing. And that's the climate we're in. We are in a Senator Joseph, Joseph McCarthy climate where there is such fear that people have and legitimate fear that they'll end up in prison for what they say. No matter what it is if they are on the wrong side of somebody in Congress or the administration, that they have been silenced. And that's where we are right now. We are incentive, Joseph McCarthy territory. And the idea that you have to watch this man take the Fifth Amendment. And again, I will say that I disagreed personally with some of the CDC decisions. Absolutely I did. That said, he's a public servant who worked for us and saved lives for
Adam Carolla
decades, and we didn't.
Harvey Levin
We were turning him into what Rand Paul wants to be, a criminal. And Rand Paul has a political agenda, and it is prevailing here. Watching. Watching Rand Paul order security to throw Anthony Fauci's lawyer out of that hearing was unbelievable to me.
Adam Carolla
All right, Harvey, we are in law school. Harvey, I like you. You gotta get out of your bubble. You've never heard any of this shit.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
You've never heard any of the truth about anything Covid, or how any of this shit works. It's so weird.
Rudy Pavic
I love when they sit and talk about, like, the witch hunt. Well, there's actual witches this time. You use the term witch hunt when there's no witches.
Adam Carolla
Right.
Rob O'Neill
But this time there is.
Adam Carolla
There is. And there's plenty of paperwork that goes along. Why did. By the way, why did Biden need to pardon him for like a 12, you know, indefinitely for like a 10 year period? Why did he do that? And they would say, because Trump's gonna go after him. What about. Okay, first off, the number of people that have gone after Trump and hate Trump on this planet, in this country are into the millions. How do they make it without a pardon? You know what I mean? Like, Rosie O' Donnell talks shit about Trump every 10 seconds. There's nothing. He can't arrest her. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Anyway, it's not. Get the information.
Dawson
Harvey Levin also calls out the cdc, does not mention Fauci one time. But I remember when Fauci said, if you disagree with me, you disagree with science.
Pluto TV Announcer
Right.
Dawson
Essentially saying, I am the cdc. And he was.
Adam Carolla
Yes.
Rudy Pavic
They got to put that seashell thing to rest. When they talk about it's. He had a couple of seashells. Well, you could also make a swastika with a crayon. It's still a swastika, you know.
Adam Carolla
Good one.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
All right, let's get some news going.
Rudy Pavic
Let's do it. Well, back in my home state of Minnesota, my gender dolls, the first of their kind, therapeutic paper dolls, complete with removable internal and external genitalia and over 100 interchangeable parts, like a Mr. Potato Head Ace. Look at that. Oh, look at old tampon Tim there.
Adam Carolla
Look at that guy.
Rudy Pavic
So these are the. My gender dolls, which were developed in part through the University of Minnesota's Early Innovation Fund, will be using.
Adam Carolla
Somebody gave somebody millions of dollars and called it early innovation.
Rudy Pavic
It's.
Adam Carolla
Yeah, Home safe at home, mother breath. Like, they give them these fucking names and it's really just money laundering. It's just more money. Listen, I don't know. The left does this thing all the time, right? They go, they need to be exposed to the arts and to music and to museums at a very young. It's like, no, they need to learn a fucking skill in a trade or fucking go do rough and tumble play.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah, Jesus was a carpenter when he was 12.
Pluto TV Announcer
We don't.
Adam Carolla
We don't need to teach everybody about everything all the time. Like, we have to expose them to different genders and different gender types and different alternative. No, we don't. Or you can just be six and get the fuck to it and take some fucking tinker toys and stack some Legos or something on top of each other and fucking go in a sandbox. Or you can do that national center. My gender dolls this weird. And it's also, it's a little ghoulish and it's also super creepy. Like, I got a fucking. Like I have twins when they're five. Like, I have to like sit down and explain to them that is your pee pee and that's your vajiji and you can touch your own. But it's like, how about you just let me be fucking five?
Rudy Pavic
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
How much explanation do they need? And is there any, by the way, this shit's been going on for 20 years now. Anything coming out the other end? Are people demonstrably better than they were in the 50s or the 60s or the 70s? To me it looks like more tattoos, more aggressive piercings, more obesity, and more antisocial behavior. Yeah, that's all I'm seeing come out the other end of this little experiment you guys are running. Yeah, I'm not seeing a whole bunch of super justice trusted kids that are super comfortable with their own sexuality. I'm seeing a bunch of fucking freak shows. Maybe it's not working. Now, your plan is more of this? My plan is less.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah. There's teachers in Minnesota that will ask parents during. Sit down. The conferences. Do you think your child feels like they're in a safe place to come out to you with any sort of questions? Like, first off, they're in third grade. They don't need to come out with any. What are you talking about? You're the ones that are putting this nonsense in their head.
Adam Carolla
It's the greatest grift. It's the greatest gaslight of all time, which is you keep doing something that it doesn't amount to that much. It'd be like this. Let's say you're living with your wife, and every time you come home on a hot day from work, the mayonnaise is just sitting out on the counter, like, sweating. And then, you know, you say to your wife, hey, did you make a sandwich for lunch? Yeah, I made one. And then I hit the gym, and then I went out and had coffee with Sharon. Yeah, well, you got to put the mayonnaise back in the fridge because it's gonna go south. And they'd go, oh, okay, yeah, or something, whatever. And then, like, the next day, the mayonnaise was out again. Then the next day, the mayonnaise out again. And you said to them, like, a certain point, you go, listen, I don't know what the problem is with the mayonnaise, but you got to put it back. And then they'd go, what's the obsession with mayonnaise? I don't have an obsession with mayonnaise. Just put it in the fridge. You know what? I don't know what's up with you that it's like mayonnaise all the time. Like some kind of obsession. You can't get over mayonnaise. And then I would talk to my friends and go, rudy, guy's, like, obsessed with mayonnaise. Like, he. I can't just. So what? So what? It's mayonnaise. But no, he's got a pin. He's got to keep talking about it. Oh, by the way, it's a big problem.
Mint Mobile Announcer
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
We just got a contractor give us a $50,000 bid on a roof, and you're obsessed with mayonnaise? Obsessed with mayonnaise. We got wars going on in the Middle East. We got a roofing bid for $56,000, but this guy over here can't stop talking about mayonnaise. It's obsessed. It's a crap. It's like, there's so much going on and Is this just to distract from other things? Because I've seen you on you porn. Oh, let's not talk about you porn. Oh, let's talk. Let's focus on mayonnaise. That's what really wants to talk about. Mayonnaise. And it's like, I don't care.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
I don't want to drag queens shaking their tucked cocks in front of five year olds. That's it. And put the fucking mayonnaise in the fridge. That's it. There's no obsession with it.
Progressive Insurance Announcer
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
It's you brought up. And by the way. Oh, with women in sports. You know how small it is with men and women. It's not even a thing. Yeah, okay. It's mayonnaise. It's not a thing. You just do it and we react to it. And then you want to know why we're obsessed with it. Yeah, well, we're not obsessed with it.
Pluto TV Announcer
It.
Adam Carolla
It never existed.
Rudy Pavic
I'm more obsessed with why it is. You're not obsessed with putting the mayonnaise away. That. That's the thing I'm obsessed with.
Adam Carolla
They like to accuse you.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah.
Dawson
You know what the rap name that Snoop Dogg gave Adam was?
Rudy Pavic
Oh, please tell me.
Dawson
Mayonnaise.
Rudy Pavic
Mayonnaise. Oh, man.
Adam Carolla
Dash with a Z.
Rudy Pavic
With a Z. Yeah.
Pluto TV Announcer
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
Now to be fair, Dawson, Snoop's not. Not. We didn't burn all those calories. I told him my rap name was Mayonnaise, but there was a great tape of him going, it's my man Mayonnaise.
Rudy Pavic
Man Mayonnaise.
Adam Carolla
My main man Mayonnaise.
Rudy Pavic
I hate to tell Snoop what man Mayonnaise actually means.
Adam Carolla
My main man. Pause. Mayonnaise. Mayonnaise, I always say. I wanted to say that Mayonnaise would be featured on a Snoop Dogg cut with Malibu G Wagon, which I don't know why. Side. It's just a good Rat.
Rudy Pavic
Good name.
Adam Carolla
Good side Rat.
Rudy Pavic
I like that. Yeah.
Adam Carolla
Mayonnaise and Malibu G Wagon.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
I got two came together.
Rudy Pavic
I got Shorty wardrobe, which it was photoshopped on the side of a U haul box. Like, you know when you go to the U haul store and they're like, hey, get our boxes. For some reason they had shorty wardrobe. I've never known anybody to put a box that said shorty wardrobe, but I was like, that's a good rap name. And the other one, MC Thumb sucks. Oh, I'm a tiny guy. I'm like the baby of the group. I'd be the Joey McIntyre of our rap outfit.
Adam Carolla
He's dreamy, though. Well, yeah. All right. So anyway, they want to spend money on dolls to scramble. I don't know. Look, is all of this. Here's what I'm saying, please listen. Chicks and chick thinkers like Tim Walls and Gavin Newsom and then just all the squad chicks have two ways of thinking. One is, here's stuff I want to do to help me or to help people or to take care of whatever. But there's another distinctive part, which is what would piss off the people I hate the most? And dudes are a little more, let's get shit done. Like, let's build that fucking bullet train or that dam or something. Chicks spend a of time in an area where they're like, I gotta fuck that person up. And a little less, let's finish this project. I feel like half the shit they come up with is just to piss off the ghost of John Wayne. Yeah, like. Like what? Like you could literally just sit around and go, what would make John Wayne throw up? What if we did this when we
Rudy Pavic
put dolls interchangeable like.
Adam Carolla
Like, you know, Gavin Newsom? Like, what if we had a third toy aisle for the transgender and people go, the fuck?
Mint Mobile Announcer
What's that?
Adam Carolla
Why would that make a difference? It wouldn't, but it would sure piss off Corolla. You'd fucking hate that.
Dawson
The other thing too, in Minnesota, the grift fund has been drying up. How many millions of dollars do you think that they paid for these dolls? And I guarantee you it didn't go to Mattel or it didn't go to Hot Wheels. So this is some boutique whatever thing and this is just another funnel and money exercise.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah. You know what we need to do? We probably can't get a D1 school to do it because most of them, you know, are probably bought and sold for already. But if we could find a D2 school, you know, something like in North Dakota, that would let us implement teaching smear the queer to kids, you know, you got to have something that balances this out, you know?
Adam Carolla
I agree. Bring back smear the queer. All right, what else you got?
Rudy Pavic
All right, so this just happens. And speaking of the Spencer Pratt AI ads, two California Democrats have called on Congress to slam the brakes on Hollywood style AI campaign ads just as they become the norm for political campaigns. We were watching one of these earlier today. This comes from US Senator Adam Schiff and Ro Khanna as Monday they introduced the AI Ads Act. Almost want to say AIDS there, but it's seeking a ban on fraudulent use of artificial intelligence to impersonate political candidates.
Adam Carolla
I Don't like it. Like assholes and all that.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah, I'm more about. As a guy who makes about 25% of his income through voiceover work, I have noticed a huge upswing in the amount of AI that is used in television commercials. I don't really hear it a lot on, on radio ads or satellite, but I definitely see it a lot. If you watch any of the sports programming, espn, there's a lot of AI voiceover ads that.
Adam Carolla
Oh, you notice that?
Rudy Pavic
Yeah. And I'm not a big fan of it. So I agree with them to an extent that we have gotten to a point with this technology that we have to put a cap on it because it is gonna start taking people's livelihoods. And it really is. It's getting to the point where it is so good. Nowadays we joke a lot of times about, oh yeah, you saw Britney Spears getting plugged by three dudes on the Internet. It looks so real and it's so damning that all it takes is for one person to grab onto that and go, did you see this? I feel like there's another enough garbage in our minds already where we can start to maybe put the kibosh on some of this stuff. Now if you want to go ahead and have somebody who can impersonate Gavin Newsom and they can act like him and they have the mannerisms of him and you want to do the same exact stuff, but just in a capacity where it's a real human being, I'm all about it.
Adam Carolla
Well, they do stuff. I will tend to agree with what you just said, but here's my problem with that. They come up with policies like, we're gonna provide carts for street vendors at no cost. Yeah. Cuz those fucking illegals are on the census and they vote for you and they help you.
Rudy Pavic
Yes.
Adam Carolla
But here's our problem. We have a problem with what Nick Shirley's doing. So we wanna do an act that prevents people from doing what? Oh, you do? What a coincidence. Cause you always look like a fucking grifter thief.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
So he makes you look bad. So you want to do an act that stops Nick Shirley from doing what he does. And then these spots always make you guys look bad. So you're going to do another ad. That's that. But you have another proposition which is edible arrangeables for illegals. It's like, oh, so that's how it happened. I would tend if I believed you. And I thought you're just calling balls and strikes. You're like, hey, this is dangerous, man. We got to do this.
Rob O'Neill
This, that I would do.
Adam Carolla
Anything these guys put forward is just to help the Democratic Party all the time. And that's why they can fuck right off.
Rudy Pavic
No, you're right. There are some of these ads where you watch them and you almost have to stop for just a second and go, obviously, that's not Gavin Newsom.
Adam Carolla
These same people were trying to get everyone kicked off a Twitter who had an alternative viewpoint on anything Covid. Remember that whole McCarthyism thing, Harvey Levin, when they're trying to silence the voice of anybody who was correct and had an alternative viewpoint about COVID Remember that? McCarthyism? These same people are pushing that shit.
Dawson
Remember the guy who tweeted, save yourself time at the ballot box? Just click here to vote for Hillary. He did jail time.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Dawson
Well, you know, a lot of shift there.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah. Well, you think that at some point, maybe one of these people would reach across the aisle and go, hey, anybody over on the right? You guys want to back us on this?
Harvey Levin
This?
Rudy Pavic
And instead, they just pony up with somebody that's in their party and try to push this through.
Harvey Levin
Yep.
Adam Carolla
All right, you got another?
Rudy Pavic
Let's do it. So Cracker Barrel CEO is finally stepping down after her disastrous rebrand. This is happening in August. A Cracker Barrel CEO Monday said. Excuse me. Cracker Barrel on Monday said. Julie Messino, the chief executive behind the restaurant chains much criticized 2025 logo redesign, is stepping down.
Adam Carolla
Oh, you know what? You can't put the chicks in there because they want to rearrange the furniture.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Dawson
You know what I mean?
Adam Carolla
Like, they show up at the. You know, you get divorced. The old lady moves out. New girlfriend moves in, and she's like, oh, no, no, no, no, no. We're gonna move this shit around. I'll put my own stink on this thing. The old guy, he liked this logo. That's his logo. I got my logo. I'm doing a different logo. So they're. They're doing some decorating.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
And then when they do some decorating, everyone gets pissed off with, like, the old shit. And now we got a problem.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah, well, think about their customers. That customer base that goes to Cracker Barrel, probably not all down with the dei, the LGBTQ language.
Adam Carolla
That's the other thing that I never really get. Like, hey, this ain't a gay bar. It's a bass pro fish shop. You know what I mean? Like, it's in Arkansas. Like, can you fucking wake up to that shit a little? They don't want the fucking gay Lure aisle or whatever the fuck you get then with the pride fucking banner. The calico bass doesn't need the fucking pride rainbow on it. You fucking rainbow trout. Thank you. I don't get why people never get. It's pretty simple. If you went, Adam, for Christmas, I got you tickets to Paul Abdul, I'd be like, yeah, why don't you know who I am? Or you could go, bachman Turner Overdrive's coming back together. And I'd go, okay, yeah, but don't, you know, why don't you know me? And it's not. It's like. It's like, well, I don't know nothing wrong. I mean, Paul Abdul's horrible, but let's just say there are people who would be very happy with you getting Paula Abdul tickets. But it's not me.
Rudy Pavic
Not you? Yeah.
Adam Carolla
Why don't you know who I am?
Rudy Pavic
Yeah.
Dawson
Yeah.
Rudy Pavic
There was, like, a joke that went around with NASCAR where Jeff Gordon's car, for the longest time, that dupont car had a couple of different colors on it. Somebody's like, hey, before this gets out of hand, man, you get to pick one. Before you get five different colors on there, they're going to start calling you out, Jeff, we got to pick a blue, and that's it. That's all you get. No more rainbow color on this car.
Adam Carolla
The Rainbow Warrior. Yeah, that's what they call him.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah. There's a. There's a house in Wisconsin that is all done up in Jeff Gordon colors. The entire house is blue. A relative of mine is related to the guy. He lives in, I think Viroca, Wisconsin. And the whole house is decorated. See if you can find it. There's a picture of it on the Internet.
Adam Carolla
He wanted full NASCAR in his home.
Rudy Pavic
The whole house is decorated like Jeff Gordon. I'm not. I wish I was making this up. When you see it, you go, there's no way. The neighbors. If they would have brought this to the city council, the city council would have said, you gotta paint this. There's no way the whole house is decorated like Jeff Gordon.
Adam Carolla
My dad had a whole Cale Yarborough theme when I was growing up on our house.
Rudy Pavic
No way.
Adam Carolla
That would have meant he did something right. Here's how you could always tell with my parents. You always know I'm kidding. If it's something, they're out. So my dad would make the best brisket in the town. You know, anything that sounds like something, something, sure. If it sounds, we'd go hunting every year. If it's something that's how you know I'm lying?
Rudy Pavic
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
See what I'm saying?
Rudy Pavic
He didn't have a house painted up
Adam Carolla
with, you know, Kaylee Arber.
Rudy Pavic
He didn't have the intimidator out there in the front yard.
Pluto TV Announcer
No.
Adam Carolla
This is great.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
I love this dude.
Rudy Pavic
Flames on the bottom there.
Adam Carolla
I cannot. How pissed is his wife?
Rob O'Neill
Oh, man.
Adam Carolla
Oh, his wife's fucking living.
Rudy Pavic
Yeah. There was a house like that in our hometown of Hibbey that the city came to this house and went, you guys gotta paint this thing. Okay, it's time. Because everything's chipping off. It looks like hell. And they said, great. And they went out and they bought spray paint and they spray painted the whole house. The brightest blue you've ever seen.
Dawson
Oh, I love.
Adam Carolla
I love that. Say I'm paying the IRS and pen.
Mint Mobile Announcer
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
All right. Me, us, this weekend, me and Rudy. Friday, Emerald City Comedy Club in Seattle. And then two shows on Saturday and then another show on Sunday. Emerald City. Rudy's great. Stand up. You'll enjoy the show. Then me and Rudy in New Mexico and Arizona. You go to mcroll.com for all the live shows. What do you got, Rudy?
Rudy Pavic
Yeah, I'll be on all these dates without Adam. And then I just booked some headlining gigs. I will be in Columbia, Missouri, and then a small town just outside of Kansas City, I believe, called Williamsburg. And then I'm also coming, I believe Dawson's coming with me to Boise, Idaho. Check out rudypovich comedy dot com.
Adam Carolla
So till next time, Adam Corolla, Rudy Povich, and Rob o' Neal saying mahalo.
Dawson
Pick up your phone and leave us a voicemail at 888-634-1744. Be sure and get tickets to see the ace man@adamcola.com.

In this gripping and candid episode, Adam Carolla sits down with Rob O’Neill, the Navy SEAL widely known for killing Osama bin Laden. O’Neill offers rare first-person insight into the bin Laden raid and shares compelling stories from other legendary SEAL Team 6 missions, like the rescue of Captain Richard Phillips and Marcus Luttrell ("Lone Survivor"). The episode explores the intense preparation and split-second decisions behind the world’s most pivotal military missions, and also wades into contemporary issues such as the fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic and cultural debates. The conversation is rich in detail, humor, and hard-won wisdom about combat, leadership, and life after service.
[01:51] – [03:17]
“It took me essentially 15 years to get to bin Laden’s stairwell. That’s from the moment I joined the Navy…”
— Rob O’Neill [02:05]
[04:27] – [07:23]
[07:23] – [11:29]
“When you’re living history, you don’t realize it ‘til it’s over.”
— Rob O’Neill [11:21]
[11:51] – [17:19]
[21:56] – [32:08]
“He said, ‘You guys do this every night. This is just a bigger audience.’”
(referring to Admiral McRaven’s speech [29:18])
[32:08] – [65:03]
“The way you deal with suicide bombers, you shoot them in the face.”
— Rob O’Neill [48:52]
“Now we find the computers. We do this every night, hundreds of times.”
— Fellow SEAL to Rob after shooting bin Laden [61:00]
[65:03] – [69:23]
“You try to tell our leadership anything that makes sense, and they won’t listen.”
— Rob O’Neill [69:24]
[69:49] – [70:27]
On training for the bin Laden raid:
“We kept fast roping [in training], but the only person to fast rope on the mission was the pilot—because he crashed it against the wall. He had to use a rope to get out.”
— Rob O’Neill [23:46]
On focused leadership:
“If you master the basics, you can do the other shit.”
— Rob O’Neill [48:01]
On the mission’s stress:
“I went and I hand wrote letters to my daughters in particular and each close family member… If I don’t get [the envelope] back, the instructions are inside. And I remember [the intel guy] saying, ‘How will I know?’ and I’m like, ‘You’ll fucking know, I promise.’”
— Rob O’Neill [28:00]
On the kill/capture dilemma:
“Knowing SEAL Team Six, we’re gonna kill him. That’s it. We’re gonna fucking kill him.”
— Rob O’Neill [49:51]
Reflecting on leadership’s decisions:
“You try to tell our leadership anything that makes sense, and they won’t listen.”
— Rob O’Neill [69:24]
This is a rare, detailed oral history from the man who pulled the trigger on the world’s most wanted terrorist. It’s not just about one historic moment, but about how elite operators train, survive, and adapt—offering important lessons for military and civilian audiences alike. Through Adam Carolla’s irreverent but insightful interviewing, listeners walk away with both a clearer picture of “what really happened” and an appreciation for the complexity, sacrifice, and humanity behind covert operations.
