Tiffany Bui
Welcome back to Add to Cart for a very special Friday. Extrasode producer Tiffany here to deliver a little present from the aunties to you. Now, usually our premium episodes, or Preemstream if you're nasty, are paywalled. But we are lifting the veil and releasing a few of these episodes for you today. Now, these are some of my favorite premium episodes, and not just because the first one is me opening presents. Although that isn't nice. Plus it's because I would say Culap and Soochin are at least 25% more unhinged on the Preem stream. And it is such a delight. They talk about what they bought recently and what they returned. They've done TikTok trends and read posts from the subreddit R amitheasshole. It's a really good time. They're really in their element as they always are. But we thought it would be a nice present to share with all of you. And I really want to say thank you so much for listening to another year of Add to Cart. We really couldn't do this without all of you who understand that shopping isn't just about spending money. It's not just a frivolous pastime. Although sometimes it can be. And that's fun. It's about how we spend a little bit of our hearts and souls every day. And I really love making this show. I love seeing all of you who care about culap and Soochen just as much as I do. So happy holidays, Happy new year, and I really hope you enjoy this little present.
Reshma Sajani
Welcome back to add to cart. We're doing a very special episode where a young maiden producer Tiffany opens her Christmas present. Tiffany, hello. Welcome to the show.
Tiffany Bui
Thank you very much. I'm honored to be here. I did not open the box yet.
Kulap Vilaisak
Get to it, girl.
Tiffany Bui
I'm scared I'm going to. I'm scared I'm going to stab myself as I open this.
Kulap Vilaisak
Don't do that.
Reshma Sajani
Let's not do that. That would be horrifying for us both.
Kulap Vilaisak
No, I mean, we'll still post mention you, but we're not gonna feel good about it.
Reshma Sajani
Of course we'd post it about all.
Kulap Vilaisak
The views we're gon as you cut yourself. But, you know, yeah, we'll have to.
Tiffany Bui
Take it packaged in a beautiful moma store cardboard box.
Reshma Sajani
Classic Auntie Coon repurposing.
Tiffany Bui
I'm sorry. You paid for so much for shipping. Coo.
Reshma Sajani
Oh, don't worry about it.
Tiffany Bui
Okay. I see a card, I see a wrap present. Which would you like me to open first? Guess.
Reshma Sajani
The wrap present. Right?
Kulap Vilaisak
Yeah.
Reshma Sajani
Card.
Kulap Vilaisak
Blah, blah, blah. We love you. Blah, blah, blah.
Reshma Sajani
You're the best, Tiffany.
Tiffany Bui
And there is. There's this. But I can open up the wrap.
Reshma Sajani
Yeah, do that little one first. Do that little one.
Kulap Vilaisak
She's got a little tiny, shiny, sparkly green bag that you can reuse and re gift. That's yours.
Reshma Sajani
I got it from Marshall's, by the way.
Kulap Vilaisak
I love it. You know who. What animal gets a gift bag and actually writes on the gift tag so you can't reuse the bag. Who does that? That's unconscionable. Yeah, it's not.
Tiffany Bui
In my tribe, Ku has gifted me chunks, which creates hair clips. Really cute hair clips. And it's a hair claw that's checkered with purple flowers on it. That's really cute. Thank you.
Reshma Sajani
It's very tiff. Now it's not just auntie Ku, it's auntie Sue.
Kulap Vilaisak
She's got the best box.
Tiffany Bui
Thank you, Auntie Cu and auntie Sue.
Reshma Sajani
Yeah, everything. That box is from us Both. Thank you.
Tiffany Bui
Okay. And now I have a beautiful wrapped box with deer and it's has little mushrooms on it. Is this also Marshall's? I'm gonna go buy this.
Reshma Sajani
Yeah, that's right. It was from Marshalls last year, though I don't know if you'll find it this year. And even if it was this year, you still wouldn't be able to find it.
Kulap Vilaisak
Yeah, that's the beauty of. That's the magic of Marshalls.
Reshma Sajani
That's true.
Kulap Vilaisak
You know, you just never know what you're gonna.
Reshma Sajani
Scarcity.
Kulap Vilaisak
Yeah, yeah.
Reshma Sajani
And scavenging.
Tiffany Bui
I forgot to send it to you guys, but on my last Marshalls run, I found a Martha Stewart like rigatoni shaped or bow tie pasta shaped candle.
Reshma Sajani
That's amazing. That's a fine.
Kulap Vilaisak
It's a fine. That goes right.
Reshma Sajani
You know. That's a great documentary. That's a fantastic. Is it.
Tiffany Bui
It is a Labubu that I spoke about in my previous premium episode, which I was scammed. It is specifically the. Have a seat one where they sit down.
Kulap Vilaisak
Thank you.
Tiffany Bui
I'm gonna have like four of these on my bag at all times.
Reshma Sajani
Now.
Kulap Vilaisak
Explain to people what what that is.
Tiffany Bui
Okay, so Labubu is a very popular mostly in Asia keychain designed by a designer in Hong Kong. And it went really viral because a member of Blackpink had it on her purse.
Kulap Vilaisak
Lisa.
Tiffany Bui
Lisa. That's right. And they're like, they're called like little monsters because they look like little monsters and they're like furry. And they're very popular and people have stolen them off of other people's bags. So now they sell them in like, now you can buy like plastic cases to enclose them in and like really secure carabiners. So it's like anti theft.
Kulap Vilaisak
Coveted.
Reshma Sajani
They're so, so beloved. Yeah, you get them at Pop Mart and they sell out immediately. Now you mentioned Lisa from Blackpink and she. Her Christmas tree this year is entirely Labubu.
Tiffany Bui
Oh, that's wealth.
Reshma Sajani
That's wealth right there. That's flexing. That's right.
Tiffany Bui
Beautiful. Thank you both so much.
Reshma Sajani
Okay, one more thing.
Kulap Vilaisak
There's a lot.
Tiffany Bui
I did not know we had stamps. This is before my time.
Kulap Vilaisak
Yeah, it was. Yeah, that was a real fun time. You missed it when we were just stamping things willy nilly.
Tiffany Bui
Oh, there's an Edie Parker sticker on here.
Kulap Vilaisak
Should be of no surprise.
Tiffany Bui
What could this be that I was going to buy for?
Kulap Vilaisak
Why is it no surprise? Because we're obsessed with these stupid underwear purses under patches.
Reshma Sajani
And Tiffany was like, hey, you guys.
Kulap Vilaisak
In our group chat.
Reshma Sajani
Hey, it's on sale. And we're like, let's see what I.
Kulap Vilaisak
Have a side conversation, I think. And she and Ku was like, do we tell her not to get. And I was like, I think you have to.
Tiffany Bui
I was going to buy this.
Kulap Vilaisak
Of course you were. As I was going to buy mine. And this is at. At some point you get to a friendship where this is what gift giving looks like. It just looks like inner group, cranky group chat. Being like, you better not buy that. God, you're so annoying. And then you get it and all the joy is out of it. So that in private you can look at it and admire it. Have fun. While the aunties are like, oh, see what tell you. We had to tell you in the group chat.
Tiffany Bui
And now we're just pissed at each other.
Kulap Vilaisak
Yeah, now you're just pissed. But later on you're gonna put it on, you're gonna look in the mirror and you're gonna love it. And it came with a little lighter.
Reshma Sajani
Seems kind of crazy that they can ship it with a lighter, right? A little bit.
Tiffany Bui
No, I love that. This is just blatally for weed.
Kulap Vilaisak
Oh, it's. It's. There was flame. I just did mine.
Reshma Sajani
Oh, oh, there is flame.
Kulap Vilaisak
And almost set it on fire. There is flame.
Reshma Sajani
Now Suchin asked me a question, she said. And it was tough because then I had to reveal to her.
Kulap Vilaisak
That's correct.
Reshma Sajani
Why did you. Why did you send it? Why are you sending it from your house? Like, why aren't you sending directly to.
Kulap Vilaisak
The Cause I was like, don't pay for shipping.
Reshma Sajani
Well.
Kulap Vilaisak
And then I ruined it.
Reshma Sajani
Free shipping. I bought.
Kulap Vilaisak
And she was like, well. Cause there's other fucking things in it, you dumb nosy witch. And I was like, God got it. So I'll put this.
Reshma Sajani
See how we ruin things for each other.
Kulap Vilaisak
God. And blame the other person doing a.
Reshma Sajani
Nice thing for you. Jeez.
Kulap Vilaisak
Merry Christmas.
Reshma Sajani
God damn it.
Tiffany Bui
Happy holidays.
Kulap Vilaisak
Underwear.
Tiffany Bui
These are accessory. Thank you both so much. I love this.
Kulap Vilaisak
I know I may have to get it in black.
Tiffany Bui
Oh, I think I'm going to get this in silver also.
Kulap Vilaisak
Well, we could. We could do a traveling sister granny panties. And then like mid year we'll send each other swap it.
Reshma Sajani
Mm, this is smart. This is very smart.
Tiffany Bui
This is where before we go, can I send you? Because I was going to buy this for myself. The dress that I was planning on wearing it with.
Kulap Vilaisak
Please?
Tiffany Bui
Yeah, I want to see it if I can. Oh, Here, this is on AliExpress. That's weird. Well, it's Zara, so. Oh, wow. That is such a long link.
Kulap Vilaisak
You're feeling self conscious about the length of your link, how long it is.
Tiffany Bui
It's so long that the size of.
Kulap Vilaisak
The link, we just have to click.
Tiffany Bui
It, it won't send because it's so long.
Kulap Vilaisak
Oh, weird.
Reshma Sajani
Just screen share because I think probably what the issues is, there's so much spyware coming from.
Tiffany Bui
Well, it's. It's AliExpress. Can you see my screen?
Reshma Sajani
Look at that sexy. Oh, with the big bow in the back. With the big bow in the back.
Kulap Vilaisak
That is so. Wait till you. Wait till you add the big undies to that outfit. See, that says like you, I'm so hot for you. And then the undies say not for you.
Reshma Sajani
You know what I mean?
Kulap Vilaisak
That's the dual message you always want to give off as a young person.
Tiffany Bui
Correct.
Kulap Vilaisak
At a party is like, please do not come here. But ew, not you. Yeah, yeah.
Tiffany Bui
It's a black halter neck dress with a giant velvet olive bow in the background in the back of the dress.
Kulap Vilaisak
Gorgeous.
Reshma Sajani
$14.
Kulap Vilaisak
Merry Christmas, young maiden.
Reshma Sajani
Merry Christmas.
Tiffany Bui
Thank you, aunties. Merry Christmas. Thank you for seeing and loving me.
Reshma Sajani
Well, that's a great transition into a major purchase I made from Balsam Hill, which is outdoor Merry Christmas ornaments. Set of two and what these are. Guys, let's have Suchin describe what they are.
Kulap Vilaisak
22 inch diameter and height, red ornament. And one says merry and the other one says Christmas. And they're red ornaments with white snowflakes on them.
Reshma Sajani
That's right. They're huge. They're huge.
Kulap Vilaisak
And you guys, these are big balls. I mean maybe the biggest balls I've seen because I've seen some big balls inside your house and this does not even compare. Yes, yes.
Reshma Sajani
I just had to laugh at myself when these two huge boxes show up. Show up. Oh my God, big boxes. But then I look at my house and I go, there's more that could be done. I don't know what to do here. There's more that could be done. More trees to be had. Like, honestly, I've been following like some like Christmas people now. Like some Instagram people who like do this for a living and I'm good, but like not at their level. Like they would look at my staircase ornaments.
Kulap Vilaisak
Kind of put you in a different level.
Reshma Sajani
I don't know though.
Kulap Vilaisak
I think there's. I'm not. I think you moved into some, some other place which you Know is incredible. I do have to say, like, I see where you're going. Coup. It is just the beginning. Yeah.
Reshma Sajani
And I think that that's tough pill for everybody in this household to swallow, that it is just a beginning. I think people were feeling like there would be an end, like a. Like, as we talked about, a ceiling for me and my ceiling for Christmas. C stands for Christmas but they ain't no minus plus, plus, plus, plus, plus, plus, plus.
Kulap Vilaisak
Welcome back to another premium. I cannot wait to tell you what is in my cart. It's actually right on my desk.
Reshma Sajani
What's that, Sue?
Kulap Vilaisak
20, 24. Everyone's going to be sick of me talking about it, but guess what? I don't care. I'm taking my family to Korea. Taking my family to Korea.
Reshma Sajani
I disagree. I. I want freaking details.
Kulap Vilaisak
I know, but the details, I mean, they're just going to be pouring in every single week. Because it's just. I. That's how I do big trips, right? I really just dive in. And so it's the first time that my kids are going, I'm taking my mom, my brother's coming to help me out. I'm doing this by myself. And so already, really, since September, October, I've been planning for this trip in various ways. And I don't know how you plan for a trip, but the first thing I plan for is what is the sleeping situation? The pillows.
Reshma Sajani
I thought you meant hotel.
Kulap Vilaisak
Where.
Reshma Sajani
Where we lay our heads. But you're like, no, no, no. Even for.
Kulap Vilaisak
Even further.
Reshma Sajani
Are we laying on?
Kulap Vilaisak
What are we laying on? And so I came across this thing on this little elegant site called Amazon. And.
Reshma Sajani
Sorry, I mean, Jeff's store.
Kulap Vilaisak
Yes, Jeff's my boss.
Reshma Sajani
El Jefe.
Kulap Vilaisak
Yeah, El Jefe. And El Jefe is selling this product where you take a. You take a neck pillow that doesn't have any stuffing in it, okay? And then you open up a zipper, and then you stuff it with your socks and your underwear and whatever so that you can bring more luggage.
Reshma Sajani
So.
Kulap Vilaisak
That you can sneak more luggage in without having to add to your suitcase count. And I thought, God damn it. If there wasn't a product that Jeff has made that was more for me than this, then this has got to be it. I know, but you're out.
Reshma Sajani
Your ass is gonna fill it with snacks, and they're gonna be like, hey, lady, I know that. Put it around your neck right now. There's a can of something.
Tiffany Bui
I don't care.
Kulap Vilaisak
What I fill it with is my goddamn business. But what I know on the Airline policy is, is that neck pillows are not considered part of luggage. So that's on you for leaving that loose.
Reshma Sajani
This should be on prime. I'm actually kind of pissed off at you that you're giving it to the people who pay. Like the masses need this fucking lunacy.
Kulap Vilaisak
No, no, they don't. Masses got enough of this. This is why you pay for premium, baby. So I got this thing, you guys. It is soft velvet fabric and then it has a zipper and you fill it with all your socks and your underwear, whatever you want. Your canned corn.
Reshma Sajani
The other thing, you're going to make your entire family do this too.
Kulap Vilaisak
That's like.
Reshma Sajani
It's not going to be your craziness. You're going to force your children into this behavior.
Kulap Vilaisak
It also comes with. Look at this wide strap. It comes with a very thick a strap that should be on a duffel bag to hold it because they know that this is going to be heavy. Okay? There's going to be, you know, bicycle helmets.
Reshma Sajani
Can't you save this behavior for brother with Annie? Why do you have to pull your children into this?
Kulap Vilaisak
Oh, my children, they must learn young. And if they're opposed to it, then pay for the ticket yourself. Get a job. Get a job that will pay thousands of dollars.
Reshma Sajani
This is. I have never heard of this. And the fact that, you know, we joke about like, you know, you fall in love in a hopeless place. And usually you talk about two individuals, two people who have beating hearts, but now I'm talking about such and POC and a product that Jeff sells like that that you two star crossed lovers could find one another. It's a miracle when I sit here.
Kulap Vilaisak
Week after week and she's never been so awake.
Reshma Sajani
Like, she's so jazzed right now.
Kulap Vilaisak
You guys ridicule me.
Reshma Sajani
The adrenaline coursing through her veins.
Kulap Vilaisak
Bring back Jason Mazoukaz. Oh, we are bringing. We are bringing.
Reshma Sajani
Oh, my God. I didn't even think. What about Jason?
Kulap Vilaisak
I have to say to all you mofos, you ding dongs and hoes, there is a company out in the world, okay, who is making these and making millions of dollars. Because there's so many of us out there that see the value in this product, which means by default, see the value in my lifestyle brand there. I rest my case. Your honor, I don't think we need to go to the jury.
Reshma Sajani
We were in court.
Kulap Vilaisak
Why are you springing this on you? We have shown beyond a reasonable doubt that there are legions.
Reshma Sajani
This is coming up in our main show. I hope you know this. You're very tricky. Everyone thinks that you're just a sweet little journalist.
Kulap Vilaisak
You.
Reshma Sajani
You have your secrets.
Kulap Vilaisak
I don't have any secrets. Goo I wish I did.
Reshma Sajani
You have your lies.
Kulap Vilaisak
I wish I have your some of these secrets to myself and I could just keep my mouth shut but I can't. And this anti behavior takes over. And I say it's best not to let people know that you've got underwear and socks around your neck. Like keep some of the dignity that you have built over a career of being in the zeitgeist at times and let's keep some of that dignity from long ago that currency. And yet no it just here I am with underwear strapped.
Reshma Sajani
You called it. You called it at the very beginning that you were gonna do what Kanye Chung did in a different way though. You were gonna be in a ball gown singing and this is what this is this.
Kulap Vilaisak
Thanks for the memories. Thanks for the memories Hoes. If you right now drop everything and YouTube Connie Chung Swan song. You're welcome. This is a premium. I hope they're charging extra for this content. Foreign Struggling to make healthier choices or stick with your goals? You're not alone. Kulap Vilaisak
Okay, so this is a remove from cart add to cart situation, but it's a very reluctant add to cart. I want to talk about garbage cans, specifically indoor kitchen garbage cans. Now what is the garbage situation in your kitchen?
Reshma Sajani
It's a pull out and then it's a little under a tall kitchen size. Side by side garbage and recycling and then on the counter. We of Course I have a bin for the lomi and then I have another bin for what the lomi can take, which is seeds and bones.
Kulap Vilaisak
What do you do with the seeds and bones?
Reshma Sajani
They just.
Kulap Vilaisak
I'm sorry, this is off topic.
Reshma Sajani
They. They just go into the green bin.
Kulap Vilaisak
Okay, Got it.
Reshma Sajani
Yeah.
Kulap Vilaisak
And then.
Tiffany Bui
And then.
Kulap Vilaisak
Does the under the counter have a lid?
Reshma Sajani
No.
Kulap Vilaisak
Okay. Much like my. Just frustration with toilet bowl brushes. And if you've tuned into this show, I don't understand why toilet bowl brushes don't. They can't figure out a technology to keep these things cleaner. So at the beginning of the pandemic, I bought one with a UV light that supposedly cleaned it. That company has gone under. Not even just gone away into the night. So I can't buy any more of those. Much like that. My frustration with kitchen garbage cans and that we cannot figure out how to make this work. We don't put our garbage in that bin underneath because it doesn't have a lid. Right. And Mike doesn't want any garbage in their lid. So we use that for recycling. Okay. So it's just dry items and that sort of thing. And then we have a separate kitchen garbage can that's a freestanding garbage can that you put all your garbage into. And so much research. We've bought so many different garbage cans. It's really expensive garbage cans, cheaper garbage cans all the. The way. And kept returned a bunch of them. And this is the one that we settled on, which is simple, human. Great product. $140. It's a great garbage can. 11,000 plus ratings, 4.7. However. Oh, this little. Oh, I don't understand how you make a garbage can. And there are little crevices around for whatever. I don't even know what they're there for that food and liquid can get stuck into. I don't understand why. There's like a weird little divot in the lid. And you don't know it until one day there's ants going in. And you realize this whole time, the entire time you've had this freaking thing that you could take the lid off and pull it apart to then clean the inside. So all this happened because we had an ant infestation and it would not stop even if the garbage can was empty. And so we were like, what is going on? And we kind of tore this thing apart. And we realized there were all these places that food and little crumbs and juices were going into for years because we've had this garbage can for two plus years now. So that really pissed me off. You know, it's like, why? Why?
Reshma Sajani
Yeah, it should be completely sealed. Cause it's a trash can.
Kulap Vilaisak
It's trash can. And so we research. Da da da. We're going back into the lab, Mike. This has been his obsession for two weeks since I've been gone. And we're back to the same freaking garbage can. We couldn't find anything better. So what we did was we then taped all the places. Oh, man, can you believe this? And so now we have this garbage can that just has tape around it. I'm sorry. We don't want to live like this. I didn't ask. We didn't. We're not asking for this.
Reshma Sajani
What kind of tape?
Kulap Vilaisak
Like. Like really strong. Yeah. Like duct tape.
Reshma Sajani
Yeah.
Kulap Vilaisak
And I said to Mike when I came in, I was like, this is not your brand. It's not your style. What is this? Why is there tape all over this? He was like, first of all, this is a new garbage can. And I was like, what?
Reshma Sajani
This is.
Kulap Vilaisak
This is our old garbage can. He's like, hold on. He told me the whole saga while I was gone on vacation, what had happened and that he had to re. Just re. Buy the old garbage can and then duct tape it. And I thought, I mean, yeah, this is the best we can do. So it's a remove from cart. It's an add to cart. But it's also. Here's a little tip for you, Sujin.
Reshma Sajani
I feel like we joke about you writing a book, but the title is, this was the best we could do.
Kulap Vilaisak
Oh, this is my favorite game. This is. This is the game that is a glue to my marriage with Mike. Some things are. Some other titles. Let me just. For your. You know, for your consideration. Now what? That was one of my favorites.
Reshma Sajani
What's the punctuation on that?
Kulap Vilaisak
No punctuation. Yeah. Yeah, just now. What?
Reshma Sajani
Yeah, it's really flat.
Kulap Vilaisak
Another one I threw out there that sometimes I say things and I think it's funny, but maybe the other person who's a little bit more sensitive, let's just say, is pretend I'm dead. That's when I. I said, you come in here, you ask, hey, pretend I'm dead. What would you do if I was dead in a coffin? Stiff. Stiff as a piece of jerky. Could you figure this out yourself? Just pretend I'm dead.
Reshma Sajani
Pretend I'm dead. Pretend I'm dead is a pretty. That's pretty solid. I think that's. That's. That's the winner so far of the choices Pretend I'm Dead.
Kulap Vilaisak
The sutchin pox story pretty much sums it up.
Reshma Sajani
And pretend I'm dead. It's like, with your, like, smiling. It's like you smiling almost like a clown on the COVID Yeah. So happy.
Kulap Vilaisak
So happy. Inviting, you know, encouraging. Like, it's not a. Like, it's like a. No. Let's play a really fun game. It's my favorite game in the whole world. Are you ready for it? It's called Pretend I'm Dead. Oh, my God. Are you so excited? Okay, here's how it goes. You have a question, and then I pretend I'm dead. Isn't this fun? I'm having fun. That's good.
Reshma Sajani
And that's another episode of Add to Cart Premium.
Sujin Pak
Welcome to another bonus. Nope. Welcome to another premium episode. Keep all of that Add to Cart.
Kulap Vilaisak
No.
Sujin Pak
I am Claire, one of the producers of the show, here with Sweet sue, while Cuckoo is on break with her Sweet Bebe. And we are here looking at another TikTok brought to us from our dearest associate producer, Tiffany Bowie.
Kulap Vilaisak
Thank goodness for Tiffany. You have signed off on TikTok.
Sujin Pak
I signed off. I couldn't do it.
Kulap Vilaisak
I mean, guys, she said now because she was spending too much time on Tick Tock. I had a lot doing this. This. This show. She had to go on a Tick Tock diet.
Sujin Pak
I literally had to take the app off my phone and I said, tiffany, I need you to look up Tick Tocks for Add to Cart because every time I log on for our premium content, I don't log off for four hours and the work day is over, and I haven't completed any other work.
Reshma Sajani
So here we are again.
Kulap Vilaisak
Again. Which is why I don't do TikTok.
Sujin Pak
Yes. Do not do.
Kulap Vilaisak
I know that. I know that about myself.
Sujin Pak
Cool up. Knew. She knew that about both of us.
Kulap Vilaisak
But this is enough. I get it. I. We get this every. Every few weeks, I get to see the biggest. Like, I. I don't. I'm in the know, you know, without having to lift a finger. And that's. That's really where the kernel of my life, you know, sits, is how do I get the most done without doing Jack? Anyway.
Reshma Sajani
Yep.
Sujin Pak
Okay, so this one is. It's. It's a crying. It's crying makeup. The trend was started by Zoe Kim Keneally. I hope I say I'm saying her name right. So we're just gonna watch crying makeup. Yeah, we'll just. We'll just take.
Kulap Vilaisak
Understand what this means. But that's the beauty of tick Tock.
Sujin Pak
Exactly.
Kulap Vilaisak
Okay, here we go. So this one is for the unstable girlies. You know how we look good when we cry? It just comes with the territory. But anyway, if you're not in the.
Reshma Sajani
Mood to cry, here's how to get the liquid makeup. Okay, so we want that puffy, soft lip.
Kulap Vilaisak
Right.
Reshma Sajani
We're going in with a soft spoken.
Kulap Vilaisak
Lip by M Cosmetics. Blurring the edges with a brush and then going back in with a neutral liner. Next, it's really a monochromatic moment. I'm going in with the double cheeked.
Reshma Sajani
Up palette by Fenty Beauty. Over my eyes, under my eyes, on.
Kulap Vilaisak
My cheeks, and of course, my nose. Next, we're recreating that glisten in our eyes with some liquid glitter on the bottom lash line. And my favorite vinyl effect by About Face.
Reshma Sajani
Put it where you want shine.
Kulap Vilaisak
The cupid's bow is a great area. The lashes gotta be curled. Okay.
Reshma Sajani
It just leaves the look, but most.
Kulap Vilaisak
Of all, the gloss. So it's makeup that makes you look like you cried beautifully.
Sujin Pak
Yes.
Kulap Vilaisak
In front of the camera. Glisten, because post cry for the rest of us, it looks like a shredded paper towel. And that's not this look.
Sujin Pak
I look like I just ingested something that I'm highly allergic to.
Kulap Vilaisak
Yeah, no, I. I look. No, I look like a shredded paper towel. I mean, nothing about it. It's all jagged edges. Not everything is dry. Everything hives. You know, it's textured.
Sujin Pak
Yeah.
Kulap Vilaisak
So this is a different type of crying. This is a. Oh, I'm. I'm a model.
Sujin Pak
This is how the young people cry.
Kulap Vilaisak
This is how young people cry.
Sujin Pak
Let's watch another one.
Kulap Vilaisak
Okay.
Sujin Pak
Oh, there's more.
Kulap Vilaisak
Watch this all day.
Sujin Pak
Yes, exactly.
Kulap Vilaisak
This is fascinating. Okay, go.
Sujin Pak
Okay.
Kulap Vilaisak
Oh, God. What is she doing? Sexy crying makeup for the depressed girlies. Oh, my God. I like this one because she added kind of a bottom mascara that's a little bit smeared.
Sujin Pak
Yes. Yeah, she has. So. So there was only music for that one, but we couldn't describe it. So the final product is. I mean, she does look beautiful. She has tears streaming down her face, which can only be described as, like. As streaks of, like, white glitter. Very red, puffy.
Kulap Vilaisak
Like the tip of her. The tip of her nose is red. Her eyes are in monochromatic. It's kind of blush, you know, up on top and below because she's been wubbing her woo woo wise quieting.
Sujin Pak
Yeah, yeah, Lots of quiet.
Kulap Vilaisak
She's got a lot of gloss in her lip because maybe some of that glitter snot but it's. But it's so gorgeous, though, because it's glitter snot, not normal snot.
Sujin Pak
Yep, it's right, because that's the other thing is that when these. When the young people are crying gorgeously, all of their snot is glittered.
Kulap Vilaisak
So this is really just sad fairies. Is that what this is?
Sujin Pak
Just like pixie crying?
Kulap Vilaisak
Oh, is this another one?
Sujin Pak
Oh, yeah, we got one more. I'm sorry. I'm sorry to keep.
Kulap Vilaisak
No, no, no. I want to see another one. I want to see another because I think people's interpretation of this is fascinating because some people go really all out, you know, glitter tears. So I. I want to see what this version of crying makeup.
Sujin Pak
Yeah, yeah. Same, same, same. Okay, here we go.
Kulap Vilaisak
Hold on. I have to try that look. I swear to God, Tick Tock always comes up with, like, a new makeup trend every two weeks, and I am participating in each and every single one of those trends. And I'm gonna start off with this illuminating primer because, you know, you get kind of glazy and sweaty after you cry. I'm just using the Maxtra cream, and today we are skipping all of the foundation, concealer, whatever. I'm just gonna go ahead and use this shake lip pigment by all glows. This is in the shade hibiscus right on the top points of my cheeks like that and a little bit on my eyes. Okay. Add a little on my under eyes like that and just blend it out. I did my brows off cam and comment down below if you want to see how I do my brows onto the eyes. Just going to take a little bit of black eyeshadow on a pencil brush and smoke it out. Just smudge it out. It looks like you've been crying with mascara on. And that is the look that we want. And here's the finished look. What do we think? I feel like this look snaps. I love it. I love this Trend. So that TikTok creator, I love that that they explained each step, you know, which was kind of nice. Sometimes, like, when you're looking at a new makeup trend, you're. You have to deconstruct it. And if you're not a makeup person, that's really hard to do. I have some thoughts. Number one, I cry every day at some point, and I don't look like that, nor do I want people to know that I've cried. I cry silently, usually in a dark laundry room or in my car, and I do that for a reason. Number two, this. This trend of crying makeup. I'm not Quite sure. I mean, it's giving me damsel in distress vibes, which makes me a little uncomfortable.
Sujin Pak
Yeah.
Kulap Vilaisak
And because of that, I cannot get down with this trend.
Sujin Pak
This is a remove from cart.
Kulap Vilaisak
Remove from cart. Also, this whole shit is sliding off your face the. The second you leave the house. I don't care how much glitter, how much gloss, like, it all looks perfect for a TikTok. But, like, you're at Whole Foods and, you know, you get sprayed with some vegetable spray and you're done. That's it.
Sujin Pak
It's off.
Kulap Vilaisak
What do you think?
Sujin Pak
I feel about this trend the same way I feel about fake eyelashes, which have. Are a really big trend right now. But, like, if you take fake eyelashes out out of the context of being an it thing right now, they make young women look like dolls in like a kind of a scary way. And it. To me, I just don't like the trend.
Kulap Vilaisak
Yeah, I agree with you. I don't think it's too deep. I think that's kind of the root of it. Right. Like you said it. It's like pixies crying. But, like, we all know how problematic. The manic pixie gal in, you know, film. Yeah.
Sujin Pak
Manic pixie dream girl.
Kulap Vilaisak
Yeah. Manic pixie dream girl did not lead to good places for a whole generation of women. So I don't know. I mean, I think it's cute. I love that it's on tick tock for a moment. And that's what tick tock is.
Sujin Pak
Yeah.
Kulap Vilaisak
You know, it's just a yearbook photo. Yeah.
Sujin Pak
Honestly, what I like is that it just looks like people are slugging and then not taking it off.
Kulap Vilaisak
And that's just one less step. Exactly.
Sujin Pak
That's how I'm gonna interpret this, is that I'm gonna slug at night, I'm a slug in the morning, and then I'm just gonna go to work to the we work where I'm currently sitting crying.
Kulap Vilaisak
And everyone's like, whoa, Claire is upset.
Sujin Pak
With Vaseline on my face. And be like, no, no, this is cry makeup.
Kulap Vilaisak
It's crying makeup. Crying makeup. It's a trend. It's crying makeup. She's so cool.
Sujin Pak
Everyone's like, yeah, I'm extremely trendy right now. I'm crying. It's my makeup. And people are like, tears are falling down. I'm like, very good makeup. I'm extremely talented. Thank you.
Kulap Vilaisak
You.
Sujin Pak
Thank you.
Kulap Vilaisak
And it's glitter, so it's.
Sujin Pak
Yeah, my tears are made of glitter. Okay, great. Well, it seems like both of us are removing this one from Cart. So that's it for this week. Thanks for listening to our premium content. What are we adding or removing from Tick Tock with Sue and Claire next time. Cool will probably be here. Maybe. We don't know.
