I thought it was only appropriate for my tenth episode to go back to the beginning and hit you with a solo episode! I haven’t released one in a while but there’s so much to catch up on in the influencer and social media space that I've been wanting to discuss with you all - like this hot topic: what if you could no longer see the number if likes a post gets on instagram?

Maybe I should frame it this way - what if you never got that rush of dopamine after an intense workout? Would it still feel worth it? Would it keep you coming back time and time again early in the morning when you really didn't want to but knew that amazing feeling was waiting for you on the other side? Would you still show up?

At the Facebook F8 Developers Conference on April 30th and May 1st of 2019, Instagram announced it would begin testing a feature that would hide the number of likes a photo or video gets from everyone but the creator. Instagram chief Adam Mosseri announced “We want your followers to focus on what you share, not how many likes your posts get.”

In this episode I discuss the good, bad and the ugly of this potential update. I talk about a few main points from both sides of the argument and offer solutions for how content creators can bypass the harmful affects this change could place on the Influencer Marketing industry.

Right now the feature is only being tested with users in Canada, and it’s still unclear whether or not Instagram will actually move forward with the update.
