Jamie
Today on the podcast, Jamie and I are talking about how we are about to become replaced. As you can see, I'm losing my voice. I was sick last week and it turns out there's a solution to that, which is Amazon's new Alexa Plus. It has a new feature that can generate podcast episodes for you. Jamie and I will never have to speak again. You guys can go listen to all of the Alexa plus podcasts and my throat can finally recover. Jamie, in all seriousness, what are you thinking about this feature? I actually have some ideas on how people can make money or use this as a kind of a useful business opportunity. But what was your initial reaction to this? Oh, also tell everyone about the school community while we kick off.
Jaden
Yeah. First, let's start with the school community. If you have ever wanted to learn how to grow your business using AI or even make money on the side, you're going to want to check out our AI Hustle school community. It is a great place each. Each week we release bonus content over there. We have well over a hundred episodes of just different ways, different tools we, Jaden and I have specifically used to make money grow our businesses. And we've been going heavy on the vibe coding thing this year. We're both building things and, and actually making money now with these products we've built. So it's really a great place to be. We would love to have you be a member. It's only 19amonth if you join today and it will never be raised on you. There's almost 300 members in the group, so we'd love to have you be a part of it. But this kind of also ties into this today's episode because Jaden has lots of different types of AI music, AI podcast hustles. He actually does. And in the school community, he teaches you exactly some of these strategies. He makes over $3,000 a month from his music streaming alone, which is awesome. So anyways, check out the school community. But this is really interesting. So back, this is at least probably a year and a half ago now Notebook LM was released and it was mind blowingly awesome. I love the tool. You could basically upload a document or paste a link and it would, Google would generate a full like 5 minute podcast about that document or link. So it was really a great way to ingest information. Kind of like you're listening to this episode right now, you can hear different perspectives on the same topic. So it's a great tool for learning. Plus, as Jaden had mentioned, people are using this as for side hustles as well. But this is really an interesting take on it. Alexa now, Alexa now will take this to the next level so you can basically tell it what topic you want a podcast about. And it will research the request, gather information and generate a quick overview of what the episode is over. And then from there users can tweak things like how long they want it to be, the tone and the focus of the episode. So I think this is going to be a great way for people again to learn to hear the latest news stories and perspectives on it. Like, I think everybody, at least from my perspective, is a little bit tired of the, the legacy media and all their different NPC type characters who are on there just spewing out the biased information. You know, I think people, at least me, I could see this being a valuable way to ingest news and get a non biased opinion on it. So you know, I think that's one big maybe market that Alexa is after. But I think there's just a whole different, a whole lot of different ways this could be used. Jaden, what comes to your mind, what
Jamie
I think is interesting here specifically is that all of the episodes are coming from about 200 different news publishers. So Amazon actually has licenses with like routers, ap, Washington Post, Fox, Politico. I mean as far as talking about like the, the bias perspective, which by the way, like if you're a listener, maybe you have a liberal bias, maybe you have a conservative bias. Like we all kind of have bias and all the news sites have bias too. So I mean this could, this could be for anyone, wherever you fall on this. But, but when you're drawing from all those different news publishers, technically you do get a lot of those bias pulled in. It could. But the nice thing is when you're creating a podcast or any sort of content that's being consolidated by AI, you can tell the AI what filter you want to give it to, right? So like a lot of times if I'm pulling from a bunch of news sources, right, like cnn, super liberal, Fox is super conservative. If I'm pulling from a bunch of news sources that don't really align with like what I believe or like whatever, I think I'll just tell it like, hey, pull from all the news sources. But like filter out any bias you see in like these directions. Sometimes I'll label specific things or sometimes I'll literally just tell like Claude, like, hey, filter out any bias and just give me the facts on what is happening in something. That's. That's probably one of my preferred methods. That's kind of what I've done with my Aichat Daily.com website. It's just like AI news, but I'm like, hey, pull out any like political biases from this. Just write everything in like a very factual manner anyways. And so doing this actually I find gives you a higher quality than going straight to Fox or CNN or whatever site that might have some sort of bias politically. But there's other biases too that can get pulled into news and stuff. So I do think this is really awesome. I also think it's interesting that Alexa is paying all of those publishers to be able to do that. They rolled Alexa plus out to everyone in the US in February this year. So it hasn't been out for a very long time. And it's not in every single. It's not in a lot of markets. But yeah, I know. I think this is. I think this is phenomenal. What's interesting is a lot of people know about Notebook lm. They have like, kind of that like podcast feature. I think they were the first people to do this. So Alexa feels like they're kind of copying Notebook lm. Apparently Microsoft Edge has done that. I don't know, Jamie, the last time you were on Microsoft Edge, it has been a minute for me. So I was unaware that Microsoft Edge had some of those features in their recent update too. Actually, I'll be. There's like craziest thing. I was recently talking to my brother about generating AI audio. Oh man. What was he showing me? I'm pretty sure he was showing me that if you went to Microsoft Edge, they have a free AI audio generator. It must be like an open source model. Maybe it's even like going to run through your browser locally or something. I don't know. But anyways, he was telling me that you could use Microsoft Edge to generate free AI audio. I don't think it was the best quality in the world, but I just thought that was funny that that's where he was doing that for free these days. So I guess there is a place for Microsoft Edge. You can't. Can't dunk on them too hard. But yeah, I think this is a really fascinating feature. Jamie, would you actually use this like, like legitimately? Would you get Alexa to give you like an AI podcast? It's two people talking back and forth about a topic or maybe a bunch of topics. Would you do that?
Jaden
Well, I would say for me, for me personally, I probably wouldn't use this as much, mostly because I, um, I could see this being really good for multitasking. So let's say you're. You're doing some kind of mindless task, you're doing some physical labor, you want to learn something new, or you want to be updated and kind of multitask and retain some information while you're. You're working on something else. I could see that being an extremely useful tool for, For a lot of people. A lot of what I do is more focused work where I'm like, I'm focusing on creating something visually and so my, I can't. I'm not good at multitasking when it comes to that sort of thing, so. But there, I think there is times, you know, like mowing the lawn, for example, it would be great to be able to learn something new while I'm doing that, you know, So I think, I think there's definitely a market for this. I think it's. It's really smart of Amazon to. To build this into their. All their hardware that already exists. You know, it's just. They basically updated everything with, with Amazon, Alexa plus, and now everyone can use this now in their own home. So I think, I think it's really great specifically for Amazon to be able to build this into all their existing products already. It kind of reminds me of like what Elon Musk does with Tesla.
Jamie
So, yeah, super, super smart. I love it. I think it's a good idea. My only critique on it would be, I think there's like a. There's a likelihood that I would probably just go search for, you know, if I'm like, trying to listen to like an economics podcast, I'm listen to just like Freakonomics or like, if I'm looking like. I think there's like real people that put a lot of time and energy into podcasts. And I would probably.
Jaden
True.
Jamie
Depending on the topic, I'd probably prefer that, like, if it's like a history podcast, like, I'm probably not going to ask Amazon to tell me about the history. I'll just go find like a history podcast. Like you mentioned, there are lots of people with biases and I know a lot of people don't like NPR radio for, for different reasons. So like maybe if you're trying to, if you're in an area that's heavily biased, like maybe politics, then this would be a better way to get the filter you want. But if you're in politics, there's probably people that agree with you politically. You could listen to their podcast too. So I feel like there's kind of two sides to it. I'll be curious to see what the adoption is on it. Our thesis on this podcast has always been like, people want to hear an actual human, an actual voice. That's why we don't just do AI generated Jamie and Jaden talking. We actually sit down every week. But maybe, maybe this is a way that something happens really quickly. You want to get news about something that just immediately happened or like an overview on it. It'd be a quick way to get that, that information. So I do see some, some use cases for this for sure.
Jaden
Yeah, I would be curious to know like when it comes to this, let's say you wanted to learn about something like making money using AI. You know, how outdated is the information going to be from what Amazon Alexa pulls from different websites compared to what let's say we're talking about or some of the people who stay really up to date on this, you might get better information from them. Like you said, like a real podcast than, than the Alexa. But either way, I think it's a cool product and I think it's going to be used by a lot of people. So anyways, if you got any value out of this episode, we'd really appreciate a rating or review wherever you're listening. Those help us out a lot. And then again, check out the AI Hustle school community if you want to learn how to actually make money using AI. Thanks for listening and we'll see you next time.
