This is episode 146 of UFO Encounters. This episode I'm reading from J.M. debord's book the Science of the Paranormal, the Truth Behind Telepathy, esp. Reincarnation and More Mysterious Phenomena. When I have guests on my podcasts, I read their books to work out questions for the episodes. And when reading these books I always find such amazing information that never makes into the podcast. And here I get a chance to give you a peek into the book. I've put a link to the book in the show notes and I did seek permission to record this extract and the author kindly said yes. I'm going to be reading from a chapter titled Precognition and Dreams and this is what JM has written in the futuristic sci fi movie Minority Report, the police don't just investigate crimes, they prevent them. Based on visions of the future courtesy of specially trained Precogs, murderers are arrested before the crime and determinism trumps free will in the name of justice. The movie did more to bring Precognition to public attention than all the scientific studies combined, but Samuel Clemens put it right before our eyes long ago when he talked about his dream that foresaw the death of his brother Henry. It came true in every detail. The metal coffin he dreamed about, Henry lying in, the borrowed suit Henry was dressed in, and the bouquet of white roses with one red one in the middle laid on Henry's chest. The confluence of details between the dream and the event it foresaw haunted Sam for the rest of his life. The April 1960 issue of this magazine recounts a historical case from the Canadian frontier that led to the conviction and execution of Charles King for the murder of Ed Hayward. On the night of Ed's murder, his brother George, thousands of miles away in England, awoke from a nightmare where he saw Ed murdered by his business partner, who turned out to be Charles King. He wrote down everything he could remember the forest scene, the Indian teepees nearby, and the big campfire where the killer tossed the corpse. In his nightmare, George Hayward saw the argument erupt, then saw Charlie shoot Ed and dispose of incriminating evidence in a nearby marsh and an Indian woman watching from the shadows and running away just before the murder. The case enjoys two big facts in its favour. For one, George's story was published in his local newspaper in England. Word had gotten around after he told his friends about it. 2 George travelled to Canada and identified Charlie on site as the murderer based on what he saw in his dream. By then, Canadian police had accumulated circumstantial evidence. They'd interviewed the Indian woman who witnessed the argument and found some of Ed's personal belongings in the marsh. But George's story iced the cake. Guilty. Another case that led to a guilty verdict in more recent times gets even stranger. In February 1977, respiratory therapist Teresita Baza, a Filipino immigrant, was found dead in her apartment with a knife sticking out of her chest. Chicago police had few clues, but did find a note written by Teresita that said get theatre tickets for. As with the case growing cold, a remarkable turn of events happened when a Filipino immigrant contacted the lead detective. Dr. Jose Chua, who worked with Teresita at Edgewater Hospital, told the detective that one night the while his wife, who knew the deceased, was taking a nap, she spoke in the voice of Teresita. She identified herself to the doctor and said that her killer was still at large. She named Alan Showery, initials as, who worked with them at the hospital. Mrs. Tewer had invited the spirit of Teresita to come to her dreams and reveal the murderer. And apparently it happened. When Dr. Tua did not act on the information spoken through the mouth of his sleeping wife, the voice returned, admonishing him and giving more details. Showery had stolen some of Teresita's jewellery and given it to his girlfriend. The otherworldly voice even provided the name and phone number of a relative who could identify the jewellery. Dr. Tua passed on the information to the detective, who then questioned Shari. He denied involvement, but admitted he'd been at Teresita's apartment the night before she was found dead, then later confessed after Teresita's jewellery was found in the possession of his girlfriend. Just like the voice predicted, guilty accounts of that case usually end with we'll never know for sure how Mrs. Chua channelled the information that led to Teresita's killer. And it's the same with others that are well documented and unexplainable by materialist science. The Red Barn murder and the murder of Hong Kong celebrity Kai Xiang Fen are bookends around a case history spanning centuries. Together with the data, the scientific case is made that the mind can transcend the usual boundaries of space and time. But it can also be said that that these phenomena are products of the natural world. Her sight theory views them as prehensive and preconscious interactions between mind and matter. Carl Jung viewed them in terms of events that synchronize with the mind in a dynamic interplay beyond normal cause and effect. They are not produced. They happen of their own volition and they have a life of their own. Like the unconscious mind itself, they operate under their own irrational sort of logic and defy attempts at explanation on empirical grounds where we want to define them. Instead, they invite us to step out of our mechanistic conception of the world and learn to know reality as it really is. As they say, mystery is not the absence of meaning, but the presence of more meaning than we can understand. We're at the point where we can say that either the world works differently than how mainstream science has modelled it, or the science of the paranormal is terribly flawed, or perhaps both. Most people sit on the sidelines as these debates unfold because they don't know enough to pick one side or the other. But what do you think after seeing what our investigation of the science of the paranormal has uncovered so far? Is there even one study or case where you'd say something paranormal must be at work? And if so, if it is truly paranormal or just something we don't understand well enough to explain other ways? These questions don't have much bearing on ordinary life for most people. But times are changing. Disclosures about top secret military and intelligence programs and testimony before Congress from whistleblowers suggests it's a subject taken very seriously in those circles. The reason being that certain human assets known as psionics are believed to be in telepathic communication with the phenomenon in the skies known as UFOs, or UAPs. A former Special Forces operative named Jake Barber claims that the assets are recruited into special access programs to communicate with the craft and and the entities operating them. And that the craft and entities aren't coming from other solar systems. They originate from the place we call the afterlife. The claims can't be dismissed out of hand. Numerous military personnel have come forward to vouch for Babur and his claims. They say they have been on hand as the craft was summoned, or perhaps a better word is invited to make an appearance and personally had close encounters. And it happened, in some cases in front of large numbers of people at places like Esalen Institute in California. As yet, no smoking gun evidence is known publicly, but if what Baba and others say is accurate, it's only a matter of time. This is no longer a subject debated mostly among a small group of scientists. Conversations are happening in the highest circles of the US government and also other governments that not long ago would have been impossible. Speculation is that the gatekeepers realise they can no longer keep a lid on these secrets, so they are gradually disclosing the truth. And the stakes couldn't be higher, not only for national security and the promise of developing fantastic technology, but also for world order. See, one of the things researchers and operatives have learned the hard way is that the more the phenomenon is engaged with, the more it engages with us. If this information suddenly bursts onto the scene in a big way and people everywhere start running their own experiments, us guys might feel with these craft in such a way that causes a huge sensation with people on the ground communicating with them. On the one hand it sounds like great endron around scientific establishment for the science of the paranormal. On the other hand, the consequences are potentially catastrophic. Perhaps it's true that some secrets are better left untold, and it's definitely true that the time has come for people to have our own conversations about our subjects. We're at the point where we can say that either the world works differently than how mainstream science has modelled it, or the science of the paranormal is terribly flawed, or perhaps both. Most people sit on the sidelines as these debates unfold because they don't know enough to pick one side or the other. But what do you think after seeing what our investigation of the science of the paranormal has uncovered so far? Is there even one study or case where you'd say something paranormal must be at work? And if so, if it is truly paranormal or just something we don't understand well enough to explain other ways? These questions don't have much bearing on ordinary life for most people. But times are changing. Disclosures about top secret military and intelligence programs and testimony before Congress from whistleblowers suggests it's a subject taken very seriously in those circles. The reason being that certain human assets known as psionics are believed to be in telepathic communication with the phenomenon in the skies known as UFOs, or UAPs. A former Special Forces operative named Jake Barber claims that the assets are recruited into special access programs to communicate with the craft and and the entities operating them. And that the craft and entities aren't coming from other solar systems. They originate from the place we call the afterlife. The claims can't be dismissed out of hand. Numerous military personnel have come forward to vouch for Babur and his claims. They say they have been on hand as the craft was summoned, or perhaps a better word is invited to make an appearance and personally had close encounters. And it happened, in some cases in front of large numbers of people at places like Esalen Institute in California. As yet, no smoking gun evidence is known publicly, but if what Baba and others say is accurate, it's only a matter of time. This is no longer a subject debated mostly among a small group of scientists. Conversations are happening in the highest circles of the US government and also other governments that not long ago would have been impossible. Speculation is that the gatekeepers realise they can no longer keep a lid on these secrets, so they are gradually disclosing the truth. And the stakes couldn't be higher, not only for national security and the promise of developing fantastic technology, but also for world order. See, one of the things researchers and operatives have learned the hard way is that the more the phenomenon is engaged with, the more it engages with us. If this information suddenly bursts onto the scene in a big way and people everywhere start running their own experiments, us guys might feel with these craft in such a way that causes a huge sensation with people on the ground communicating with them. On the one hand it sounds like great endron around scientific establishment for the science of the paranormal. On the other hand, the consequences are potentially catastrophic. Perhaps it's true that some secrets are better left untold, and it's definitely true that the time has come for people to have our own conversations about our subjects.
