Shelly is a member of the Climate Change Choir that campaigned at the last federal election targeting marginal climate-sensitive seats.She is also a thorn in the side of local council, agitating for accessible tram stops along Sydney Road, Brunswick, in Melbourne's inner north.Shelly is a lifelong member of the Girl Guides, whose principles include freedom-of-speech and anti- discrimination. Women develop self leadership skills and learn the importance of strengthening values.She is part of the Alternatives to Violence worldwide project that is active in 128 countries. It is a community movement that offers a personal development program, where individuals chose non-violent pathways through play-based activities.Shelly Van Derwerff is a practising occupational therapist.

*In conversation with Jeannie Marsh, Climate Change Choir Musical Director Her teenage obsession with performing and directing classical music and opera lead her to the Conservatorium in Melbourne, and later onto the world stage.In the late '80s, she joined the Eureka Ensemble that toured Eastern Europe in 1987 and the New Music Liberation Front, touring Vietnam in 1990.Her credits also include Theatre Works: new operas, Cantus Choro with Chilean and Greek Communities, and in 1996 Little City, with a sold out tour in 1997.In 2015, the Climate Change Choir's 40 members joined the March for Climate Rally and remain committed to enabling change through the power of music.Join now!
