Near our house there was a bar to do pull-ups. One day I decided to strengthen its pillars and began digging a hole. It just happened that my father was taken to hospital on that day. Suddenly my mother jumped out of the house, swearing: ‘Your father is taken to hospital, and you are digging a hole? Think why you cannot dig a hole in such cases!’ Digging earth is considered a bad omen among the Kalmyks.
