Cam Patterson
What's up, everybody?
Akash Singh
Welcome to Flagger. Today we are very excited to be joined by a young legend in the comedy game from Orlando originally, now out of Austin. I think we might be getting them over here in New York. I think there's rumors swirling. Cam Patterson is finally.
Cam Patterson
Hell, Yo.
Akash Singh
So, Cam, Mark was saying before the pod that you guys grew up in the same neighborhood. Is that.
Cam Patterson
That's not. That's not true at all. The same block, basically. Oh, the same block in front of the same.
Akash Singh
Yeah, yeah. And how is Mark appreciated in the hood back in the day?
Cam Patterson
Mark in the hood. Love Mark, really. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Akash Singh
Also, this is Mark's one black friend that he talks about.
Cam Patterson
It. Yeah, yeah. This is where the pass came from.
Akash Singh
This is where I got the pass with the pass.
Cam Patterson
What the that mean? That sound like. No, no, no. That's where the pass was at. The pass. The pass. Oh, the same. Oh, the say.
Mark
Yeah, correct.
Cam Patterson
I give it to everybody, dog. We got to get them passing that shit out, dog. Anybody who, like you hand it out. Now, what happened. What happened to the time? The fun thing about the pass is you can hand it out and get it to somebody, but, like, it's really like, I'm giving you a pass to get your ass beat. I'm not gonna do it. But if you got enough gusto. Yeah. You gonna say it around the right nigga. He gonna fuck you up, not you. Cause you a smart. You ain't say, I love you. That's a good point.
Akash Singh
Like, if you do give someone a pass, it's not like you could tell the people that are upset about it that you got a pass from. Yeah, yeah.
Mark
It's not universal.
Cam Patterson
It's not universal. It's not like a loan. You gotta pick and choo that. Yeah. But if you don't have good skills. Yeah. You're. Yeah.
Akash Singh
You got to see if it's redeemable.
Cam Patterson
You know what I mean?
Akash Singh
You got to be like, is this.
Cam Patterson
Pass accepted with these people?
Akash Singh
Yeah, that's a good point.
Cam Patterson
Yeah.
Akash Singh
Mark, you shouldn't use it anymore, man.
Cam Patterson
What? You know what?
Mark
Do you.
Cam Patterson
Anymore. I was just joking. No, no, I was just joking.
Akash Singh
A lot. Yeah. It is crazy.
Cam Patterson
I say it the cool way. Okay, well, wait a minute. Wait.
Akash Singh
Yeah. What is that? Remember the episode on camp you did about how to say it? You. It was like, what the proper ways are.
Mark
You kept using the R, though. That's where I was like, to show.
Cam Patterson
People how not to do it.
Akash Singh
Because if I don't show them, then how will they not show. What are we even talking about, guys?
Cam Patterson
A lot. I like it, though. I'm excited.
Akash Singh
So you move to New York?
Cam Patterson
Probably.
Akash Singh
Really?
Cam Patterson
Maybe. I'm thinking about it.
Akash Singh
Okay.
Cam Patterson
We like this after here. Okay.
Akash Singh
So you're here. You're here doing a movie in Jersey.
Cam Patterson
Yes.
Akash Singh
Which this is out. We can talk about at least. It's been announced that you're right. And then this is your. Is this your first, like, big acting thing?
Cam Patterson
Yeah.
Akash Singh
Do you like acting?
Cam Patterson
I do enjoy acting.
Akash Singh
Really?
Cam Patterson
Yeah, I like it a lot.
Akash Singh
It's not boring just standing around all day?
Cam Patterson
Nah. N. Really Got a lot of free time. I still can do comedy at night. Most nights.
Akash Singh
Yeah. That's true.
Cam Patterson
Yeah, it's not bad. I don't hate it. I'm not good at it.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
I wouldn't say I was a good actor. Why?
Akash Singh
What happened to let you know you're not good at it?
Cam Patterson
I just. I'm a around people that act.
Akash Singh
For real? Yeah. Yeah.
Cam Patterson
I'm around people that really act.
Mark
Who's the best actor you're working with?
Cam Patterson
That. You're like, yo, that man Kevin's great. He's a man. You can tell he's been doing it, like, at a high level for a long time.
Mark
I know he gave you the job, but who do you really?
Cam Patterson
No, he didn't know. I mean, we did auditioning.
Akash Singh
He was pissed.
Cam Patterson
Huh? He was like, what the fuck? Who was that? He's great.
Akash Singh
But I'm the only short, charismatic black.
Cam Patterson
Dude on his neck. Why you got this nigga, man? But now the new somebody who's really. Well, Ben Marshall is phenomenal, dog. He's like, him. Him and Marcelo are, like, really, like.
Akash Singh
They're good at the craft, the acting.
Cam Patterson
They good at, like, they really good.
Akash Singh
I feel like that is a thing that standups do where we're just like, all right, we're just going to be ourselves in the movie and be funny. Whereas, like, actors, they'll be two different people.
Mark
It's the exact opposite.
Akash Singh
But they.
Cam Patterson
They stand like Marcellus stand up. And then. Yeah, yeah. And then Ben, he's in, like, he's in a. He's in a. A comedy trio. Like a. Like a. What is a troop? Like a sketch group that. Yeah. Which is really good, but it's also g. Thank. Really great, though. You probably want to watch him. But it's also a gay thing. But he's there. He's great. Phenomenal actor, man. It's gay. Respectfully, though.
Akash Singh
Respectfully.
Cam Patterson
You know what I'm saying?
Akash Singh
Respectfully, of course. 100% respectfully.
Cam Patterson
Got to be respectful to the game.
Akash Singh
You can say that word, but you might run. You might run into the wrong trio.
Cam Patterson
Oh, yeah, for sure. That's the thing. You never know.
Akash Singh
You're in New York now. You're not in Texas no more.
Cam Patterson
Let me tell you something.
Akash Singh
They fight.
Cam Patterson
It's okay. I'm faster than a lot of people, dog. I'm running away. I'm not finding that bit of fomo. I'm running away.
Mark
Yeah, we talked about this. You said you robbed people, and I was like, I don't. I don't pick that up from you.
Cam Patterson
I robbed one person. I didn't even really rob the nigga, dog. Like, this is what happened, right? So we were selling weed. We was doing a thing called, like, Disney Gas. That was what, on Instagram?
Mark
You were good at selling weed. I don't think you were good at that either.
Cam Patterson
I was bad at all of it, though.
Mark
Yeah. I don't put. I don't attribute most black things to you, except you don't announce.
Cam Patterson
Wait a minute. What the fuck? Wait a minute.
Mark
Like, the negative stereotypes about black people. I don't put most of those on. You don't seem very safe, man. You seem bad.
Cam Patterson
Don't reinforce. I mean, I'm not saying, like, you get a pass. Wait, I'm getting out of here, man. It's up. It's a setup. This what this is. I'm on. Call him having a good time and set me up.
Akash Singh
We have to treat our guests with respect. True.
Cam Patterson
Okay. I'm a good guy.
Akash Singh
You were robbing. You were robbing something. You were saying robbing something.
Mark
Why you selling?
Cam Patterson
You know, it's so funny.
Akash Singh
This is. We out there by the coffee machine, and he goes. And you're like. You're like, I did rob one time, but I was just. I. I was horrible at it. And then Al immediately goes, me, too.
Cam Patterson
I was gonna say that part. Me too.
Akash Singh
I was also bad at it, doing that.
Cam Patterson
It's not fun. It was the British. They came through. My homeboy. They was British. Yeah. You know, met him as the funniest. Huh?
Mark
It's the funniest. British N word is so funny.
Cam Patterson
They are. That's what they were. And so they come through. They were white, but they were British niggas. And so they came through at the Florida mall. We met him in the bathroom. They gave my homeboy, like, a bag to put the money in. I mean, the weed in. But it was a bunch of money in the Bag. So he just took the bag.
Akash Singh
Nice.
Cam Patterson
And then we just left.
Akash Singh
So you were gonna sell him drugs?
Cam Patterson
Yeah.
Akash Singh
And then you just robbed him instead?
Cam Patterson
Well, we really. They really just dumb. They just kinda gave us a bag. They gave you a bag of money?
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
And it was like, why would you do that? You don't know who we are. So we just left.
Akash Singh
And then what happened? Then we split the money and so it worked out.
Cam Patterson
It was good for me. Yeah.
Akash Singh
So you just retired one and.
Cam Patterson
Oh yeah. I mean, yeah. Wow. Yeah, I mean, I wasn't usually if.
Akash Singh
It goes that well the first time you're like, I think I should keep doing this.
Cam Patterson
I told my brother about it, my older brother, he was just like. He was like, yeah, bro, that's cool and all, man. But I remember one time he told me the story about how he was selling drugs and he was doing that with these pills and shit and he was like, he was selling this one dude came up was like, man, I just want to get a whole bunch of. I want to get a whole bunch of pills. He didn't really recognize, like, he was like he was buying like one or two, but he wanted like 400. And then so my brother homeboy was like, we'll go to Walmart. We'll get like something that look like the pill. Fill it up, give him that. Yeah. And then he said when he walked into the mall to go like to serve him. He said it just felt so weird, like nothing was going on. And the police thought that my brother was like the kingpin. And they arrested my brother for that.
Akash Singh
But then he had fake pills, a.
Cam Patterson
Whole bunch of like fake pills.
Mark
Thank God.
Akash Singh
So, yeah, robbing.
Cam Patterson
Wow.
Akash Singh
So robbing people who want to buy drugs always works out in your family?
Cam Patterson
Yeah, we're pretty good at it.
Akash Singh
That is hilarious. They think it's this big sting and it's just Tylenol. Yeah, that's hilarious.
Cam Patterson
Yeah, it was crazy.
Akash Singh
So he got all scot free or.
Cam Patterson
I mean, I ain't the crazy thing. I had no idea. That was like a story about him. And none of that happened until I did that thing I did. I told him about it and he was like, nigga, understand this. What could happen? I said, I don't want that to happen. That's crazy. Yeah. Then I stopped immediately. Wow. Yeah. I was terrible at being like just outside. I ducked in too late though.
Akash Singh
Yeah. Why your childhood, you weren't outside at night?
Cam Patterson
I played basketball. I was a basketball player.
Akash Singh
Really?
Cam Patterson
Yeah, I was real good at it too.
Mark
See, he didn't think he'd be good at that. What he said really with like, he doesn't think you're good.
Cam Patterson
Wait a minute. I'm not listening to you no more. You hate black people, right? I'm thinking we having a good time, enjoying ourselves. You like? Yeah. You hate your brace, right? Right. How do you feel about that? I'm not listening to you no more. Never again.
Mark
My bad miscommunication came across.
Cam Patterson
Not again. Not gonna get you no more. Never again. That was fucked. Up off the dribble is crazy. No.
Akash Singh
Okay, so you played.
Cam Patterson
Yeah.
Akash Singh
You were really good at basketball or.
Cam Patterson
Yeah, well, what the. Wait a minute. Both of y' all are not good for me right now.
Akash Singh
He's height shaming you right now. No, I mean, you know, obviously, back in the day, it was elite, but now I play a different sport. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, but.
Cam Patterson
So you decent? You played high school?
Akash Singh
Obviously I could play ball.
Cam Patterson
You played high school?
Akash Singh
Yeah, yeah, of course.
Cam Patterson
I bet money.
Akash Singh
You can't beat me now.
Cam Patterson
No.
Akash Singh
Yeah, I'll be you now.
Cam Patterson
No.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Mark
No, now he won't. Yeah, now he's too old. His ankles are bad.
Akash Singh
How old are you, actually? How old is this? And do you play regularly?
Mark
At 26, he'll bust his ass.
Akash Singh
You play like in a league or anything like that?
Cam Patterson
No, listen. Look at me. Look at me there. My face. You up.
Akash Singh
No, look at me.
Cam Patterson
But you won't. You're not. You will not.
Mark
I think. I think when he was 26.
Cam Patterson
If y' all can match up, can you shoot? Do whatever you want me to do.
Akash Singh
No, but like is your game. Are you a shooter?
Cam Patterson
I can do whatever.
Akash Singh
I don't play defense on shooters.
Cam Patterson
Oh, why not?
Akash Singh
It's too much. But if. If you. If you can go to the rack, then there's no way that you'll. I'll lock it up every. It's not even a question. Yes, it's not even a question.
Cam Patterson
I promise.
Mark
I don't think at 41, you could do it. Like, I really don't.
Akash Singh
Hey, like, you at 26.
Mark
26 year old. Schultz, I put my money on him. Hey, 41 year old.
Cam Patterson
It'd be fun to see, though. It'd be fun. Listen to your friends. They have your best interests at heart. They believe in you.
Akash Singh
I like the confidence.
Cam Patterson
I'm not gonna lie.
Akash Singh
Like, the confidence is there, like.
Cam Patterson
No, I would. I would. I would cook you.
Akash Singh
Would Derek beat you?
Cam Patterson
No.
Akash Singh
Not at all.
Cam Patterson
No. Nobody in this room beat me. No, you're not.
Akash Singh
Come on. I'm from New York. I'm talking. I didn't even play basketball in Florida.
Cam Patterson
We got real Hoopers. Fire. Yeah. Mark is great.
Akash Singh
Have you ever seen him shoot?
Cam Patterson
N. He told me. He told me, look at. Hey, hey, hey, hey.
Akash Singh
That's true.
Cam Patterson
Whenever I said go. Yeah, yeah. Don't do no movements.
Mark
I've never seen bad air basketball form in my life.
Cam Patterson
Both of these is crazy. What's better than one? He did a gay. Yay. That was crazy, dog. Double the power, bro. I was insane.
Mark
We shot one time. We were just shooting and then just watching him. His wrist when he dribbled on. This is crazy. Don't ever do that.
Akash Singh
I can't. Soccer. It's soccer.
Cam Patterson
Yeah. I'm good at basketball, though. I was. I didn't play a lot of high school. I was a bench player. But no, no, you're getting.
Mark
That didn't sound that convincing, honestly, to say I was really good at basketball.
Akash Singh
I almost.
Cam Patterson
Do a good.
Akash Singh
It was competitive.
Cam Patterson
No, we were. I'm not going to lie to you.
Akash Singh
Did you guys. Did you guys. Did your high schools play?
Cam Patterson
I went to Orangewood.
Akash Singh
It was like a little Christian school.
Cam Patterson
Oh, no, we did not.
Akash Singh
Nah. Wait, you guys knew each other when you started in Orlando? Nothing.
Cam Patterson
Nah. When he was gone, he was gone. By the time I got my started doing stand up. Oh, really funny, everybody. He was like folklore in a lot of common sense. He was like. He was lift. Cause everybody in the scene, I swear to God, when I first started, everybody was like, yeah, Mark, Mark. He was soaps now. He doing great. You know what I'm saying? He had a plan. Every month I went to. It would always go.
Akash Singh
Comedy is the only business having a plan is.
Cam Patterson
Folklore. Had a plan. Yeah. What was the plan? We have no idea. He had a plan and it worked. And then I heard about Cam the other way. Because all my friends that were still.
Akash Singh
There were like, yo, there's this kid.
Cam Patterson
Cam, and he's unbelievable. He's like a year in and like.
Akash Singh
He'S just like the best one. And I was like. I was like, all right.
Cam Patterson
I'm sure, like you hear about people that come up. The moment I knew Cam was popping crazy. I'm in the back of an Uber at 5am going to the airport in Orlando. Did I tell you this? Yeah, you told me. There's a private investigator that's driving me, and we're in the car for an hour.
Akash Singh
She's telling me a whole story.
Cam Patterson
Da, da, da.
Akash Singh
About all of her private investigators.
Cam Patterson
She's like a 55 year old white lady. And I was like, oh yeah, I do comedy. She's like, I love comedy. I was like, who's your favorite comedian? Expecting she's gonna be like, Bill Burr, Dave Chappelle, whatever. She goes, cam's so funny.
Akash Singh
I was like, cam?
Cam Patterson
She's like, yeah, yeah, look at his.
Akash Singh
Instagram and shows me this dude's Instagram.
Cam Patterson
And I was like, this is your favorite comedian in the world?
Akash Singh
She was like, yeah, he's the best one.
Cam Patterson
And I was like, holy. A 55 year old private investigator driving Uber. Love Cam. I think he's out of here.
Akash Singh
And this is when this is where were you? You were in Orlando. In Orlando.
Cam Patterson
Oh, you got white. You good. People always love me, man. You good. When I first thought of my stepmom, looked me dead in my face and I was like, I'm gonna do stand up sick. Only white people gonna think you funny. I was like, that's fucked up.

Akash Singh
Why'd you go to Austin?
Cam Patterson
Oh, I met Uncle Lazer. I met Uncle Lazer in Tampa. He was just like, nobody really going to see you here.
Akash Singh
Who's that?
Cam Patterson
He a comedy that's been on Kill Tony a couple times. He's funny as nobody gonna see you here.
Akash Singh
You were opening for him in Tampa and he was like, you gotta Go to Austin. You gotta get in Florida.
Cam Patterson
Hell yeah. We also got to give a little credit to David Jolly. Oh, yeah. But Jolly was like, n. Jolly who.
Akash Singh
Who's that? Give us context.
Cam Patterson
I call him my uncle, but he's like, he a comic who. When I first started doing stand up, it was. It was no. There's no. There's no black scene in Orlando. There's no. There's no black comedy scene. So I'm running around and. And I'm. I'm talking how I talk, and I'm talking about shit I've been through in life. And nobody's really like. Like, understand what I'm trying to say? There's no. There's no black seed. For real. And then so I was. I. I probably would have not even kept doing stand up if I ain't meet Jolly, cuz. Jolly is a. He look like a crackhead. Like, real drinking. This is making me so happy right now. Real shit. So j. I meet Jali, has three gold teeth in his mouth. The other rest of the teeth rotted. They. They no longer exist. I right. I meet him and he just go. He's an alcoholic at the time. He don't drink no more. He alcoholic at the time. He go, hey, young nigga, you funny as hell, dawg. You funny as f. I fuck with you, nigga, you funny as hell. So he gave me, like, confidence to keep going. I was like, hey, this nigga, believe me, all this, it's pretty dope. But then I watched him do that to like six other niggas. He was just drunk. So he was like, man, you. You were fucking phenomenal. But hey, at the time, I was like, yeah, fuck it. Like, I'm just gonna. Really? Yeah, I'm gonna like a good bitch. And he. He would do this thing. He lived in, like, he lived by the Citrus bowl, by the Orange bowl in Orlando, which is in the. In the trenches, right? He. Then I would. I work at. I worked at Publix, and I would go to his house like, every day. Every day. He'll help me, like, tag Joseph. He would be, like, drunk. He would turn out. First off, I would break into his. Like, because he had two. Like, he had two doors. The back. The front door would, like, lock for real, but the back door, you could like Jim. And when he was drunk, he really wanted to answer the phone. So I would jimmy the back door open and I would go wake him up and be like, hey, I got this new joke I want to tell you. Wake up. Listen to the joke. All he had in his apartment was a couch, a mic stand, and that was it. That's all he had. A couch and a mic stand. I swear to God. Couch and the mic stand. Like a table in, like, the corner with, like, a bunch of shit on it. But I would sit up there and I would just tell him jokes, and he'd be like, that's funny. That's funny. Then he'd be like, make it retarded. That was his thing. He was just telling me, make it more retarded. It's good, but it's not retarded or nuts. I wouldn't even say, I swear to God.
Akash Singh
Wait, but why the mic stand?
Cam Patterson
Because you had to practice how you play.
Akash Singh
You guys have mic stands at home.
Cam Patterson
This is how crazy David Jolly was. It's out of Tony Wood in a microphone and a mic stand. No tv.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
Like, and a mic stand with, like. With a mic with no cord on it. Like this.
Akash Singh
This is like strippers having a pole at home and they be practicing in front of nobody.
Cam Patterson
Yes. Yeah.
Akash Singh
Oh, my goodness. So Cam is practicing jokes in front.
Cam Patterson
Of drunk David John. He just going, I like that. But make him over talk. I'm a week. I'm like a week by two months in the com, like, all right. And I had a car at the time, so we going to Mike's. And I understand. He just taught me, like, everything about standup. Like, everything. I mean, like, him being, like, him being fucked up. He don't drink no more, which is a blessing from God, dog, but him being fucked up was like. I would take him everywhere, and then he would just tell me, like, you know, this. The improv. These people here are like family. Don't these hoes. I tried it. It's not fun. Don't do it. Family. You know what I'm saying? He was just showing me a lot of shit just by stand up, dog. And that nigga, he taught me everything I know about this shit.
Akash Singh
What did he think about you going to Austin?
Cam Patterson
Oh, he. He was like, you got the whole time he was fucked up, and he was still drinking and shit. And then I was staying with my cousin in the project about the street from his house.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
I was telling my cousin, and it was just nothing. It was nothing left. It was really nothing left in the city for me to really. Do you feel what I'm saying? Like, I was in. At the club, everybody. It was. It was kind of like there was nobody. It was great. Still. Great comments in the city and like that. But, like, there Was nobody that. That was. I. I could say that was. I was like. I was scared to follow or some like that.
Akash Singh
You've done everything you could do in Orlando.
Cam Patterson
Yeah. So it was kind of the point where was like, I got to get. I got to get. If I got the way, why Austin.
Mark
Over in New York or la?
Cam Patterson
I went to. I came to New York, New York, I think like probably like a year and a half in the stand up.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
And you know, nobody. They were just. It's such a fast city, bro. Nobody gave me, paid me no attention, no mind.
Akash Singh
Yeah. It's tricky.
Cam Patterson
And so I was like, I ain't. I ain't trying to sit here and just be lost to open mics forever. Yeah. Yeah. And then. And then LA was just a situation where I was just like. I just been. It just feel. It don't feel real. Like I know you are not. Cause I mean, even then I like me because it feel like a real place.
Akash Singh
Right.
Cam Patterson
LA is more like a what can you do for me type situation. I didn't like that. That then. And then when I went to Austin, dog, it was like, man, Funny's first. Yeah, funny was first. I. I go, man, my favorite story to tell about me getting to. About me getting Austin. Derek N. Yeah.
Akash Singh
Shout out to Poston.
Cam Patterson
Yeah. It's like my real big brother, dog. Like, he. I was. I was. I'll never forget. I was there. I was running around for a minute. I went on kill 28 and people started to know my name from like this kid Crush Cam does really good. Good. He crushes, right? And so my dog, Bianca Prado, running. Running the show at Sunset. And she said, if Derek don't show up, he. He can just do his 20 minutes. Okay. He had a bunch of shows. He might not make it in time. Right before I was getting ready to go up, Derek walks in and she go, I'm sorry. You know what I'm saying? Like, he's here. I'm just giving the time. And they go, no, no, no. Like, split in half. Like, give count. I do 10. That's cool. And he sat there, he watched me. And right after he got older, he said, come on. He took me right to the ship. He took me straight to the mothership.
Mark
That's fire.
Cam Patterson
Yeah. Like, off the. Like, I probably. And I was like, man, thank you so much, bro. I really appreciate you. Like, nigga, you funny. That's what. That's what we do here. You funny, bro.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
You feel what I'm saying? And that's Why? I think Austin was a great jump for me from the city.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
Because instead of like having to run around and like prove it a little more, it was like, nah, you funny. Let's 100. You know what I'm saying?
Akash Singh
There's also probably like a lot of. I don't want to say maybe more, but there is like that like excitement and it's built specifically around stand up.
Cam Patterson
Yeah.
Mark
Dude, the city's on fire.
Cam Patterson
Amazing, dog.
Mark
You feel it?
Akash Singh
Yeah. I liken it to. That's the professional sport in Austin.
Cam Patterson
Yes.
Akash Singh
Like, there's no professional basketball team, but there is stand up comedy.
Cam Patterson
Yeah.
Akash Singh
And I think you guys are kind of like the athletes that are walking around town ut stand up. Yeah.
Cam Patterson
Yeah.
Akash Singh
So yeah. It's crazy.
Cam Patterson
And then you get on kill Tony right after that. Yeah. How quickly I did, I want to say like, like six months maybe. I've been sign every week.
Mark
Had you been you signing up every week?
Cam Patterson
I went out when I signed up the last, the time I got on, I wasn't even f to go back. I wasn't even going to go back, dog. I, I kept signed up. I kept signed up and I was like, bro, I ain't trying to. I'm sitting in al Sam. Just work on stand up.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
Instead of like, just keep signing.
Akash Singh
So that was the last time and.
Cam Patterson
That the last time. And then I, I, I went to the creek in the cave, did a show and then I got a phone call to do a don't tell special.
Akash Singh
Wow.
Cam Patterson
And I just went back to go tell my homeboy white cam with my roommate.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
I was like, bro, you got don't tell special. This is amazing. And right when I went back to tell him, I got pulled for guilt on Wow. I wasn't even going. I wasn't even going back, bro.
Mark
And you weren't even gonna be there for long. You were gonna be there for five minutes.
Cam Patterson
Yeah. And in that five minutes I was sliding. I was like, I was just so excited for the don't test. But I'm like, nah, don't test. This is crazy, bro. Like, yeah, no, I'm saying as soon as I got that I cough guitar.
Akash Singh
Okay. I never put no test question about the kill Tony. You have to give up a minute every week when you're a regular. And like, is it hard to build your hour and be working on the minute that millions of the high pressure are going to see every week? Because I don't think people realize that, like, usually you get to work on jokes for like months. Months. You're probably doing a new minute every week and it's going in front of. It's the most watched stand up platform in the world right now. Yes, it's one of the biggest podcasts, but in terms of just weekly standup platform, it's the biggest.
Mark
There's no one close.
Akash Singh
So, like, are you dividing up your week? Are you going, okay, three days a week I'm working on these jokes and one day I work on this. Do you just riff it when you go up? Like, what is the.
Cam Patterson
It's a mix between like two things. So it's like sometimes I have a joke that just starts cutting cooking.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
In the beginning of the week. And then they get to a point where like, I think this is funny enough, I can do a minute on it. And that's perfect. That's the best case scenario.
Akash Singh
But is there ever a situation where you're like, I want to make this part of the hour. I don't want to give this away.
Cam Patterson
Yeah. But then I, that I get backstage and I go, I can't bomb. Yeah. I don't want to. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? I don't want to go out there and eat a dick.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
That's the real shit, though. Yeah, that's like, that's. Then that's the dichotomy of the city where it's like, damn, like, so then how do you.
Akash Singh
All right, you have something that's crushing, that's part of your hour.
Cam Patterson
How do you.
Akash Singh
You get to a week where like, I don't know if I have something for Kill Tony this week. Do you take something from the hour? I'm trying to, like, as a stand up comedian. You're touring now.
Cam Patterson
Yeah.
Akash Singh
I imagine it's in your brain. It's like, okay, I need to have an hour stand up comedy and I need to turn this into this beautiful hour that absolutely fucking crushes. But you also have like an incredibly high stakes responsibility to put stuff out on a platform that is done wonders for you and, you know, other comics. But, like, what do you do? Is there ever something where you're like, ugh, I can't release that.
Cam Patterson
Yes and no. It gets to a point where it's like the best thing about. Best thing about it right now is it three weeks. Episodes come out every. Every three weeks.
Akash Singh
Oh, it's not weekly.
Cam Patterson
Well, it is. It's weekly. Yeah, but we do them. It's like a. It's like a three week kind of. You feel what I'm saying?
Akash Singh
You Only have every three weeks.
Cam Patterson
No, no, I do it every week. Yeah, but when I do a joke, it's three weeks. I got three weeks to make it better before people see it. And then when they see it, it's kind of like, like it's kind of changed since then.
Akash Singh
The end airs three weeks later. So you can still build on and change.
Cam Patterson
And if I build it fast enough, by the time it comes out, I still got to stop doing it for a minute. But then by the time I keep running this, it'll turn into something else. Everything I do in my house now has been on Koni.
Akash Singh
Right.
Cam Patterson
But some people come see me be like, I don't think he did a joke on Kill Tony.
Akash Singh
So that's, that's the other thing that people don't realize is like you could start with an idea for a joke and then a year later it's a completely different joke.
Cam Patterson
So so.
Akash Singh
Or a 10 minute bit.
Cam Patterson
I saw something you did on Kill Tony that was like a one minute thing that now I saw the other night was like six minutes. Yeah.
Akash Singh
So you don't want to abandon a great premise just because it was out there, but you still are like, ah, those people probably just saw that show and I gotta wait a minute. Yeah, that's.
Cam Patterson
It's a weird. But I like it though, bro. Cause I always, I always told people all the time, man, I rather you throw me in the water and let me learn how to swim.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
Than just tell me not to swim anyway. You know what I'm saying? Like I'd rather just get thrown into those. And at four years in. So I come on the movement every week. I shit this.
Akash Singh
It's crazy.
Cam Patterson
You know what I'm saying? It's tough. But I I with it. Like, I like the, I like the, like I was saying earlier, man. I sent earlier, earlier today, bro, this coffee got me wired. I'm. I'm on coffee for the. I'm on coffee for the first time. Like now this got me. I'm more. I'm out. I'm out of there. I'm. I'm jolly. I'm tired. Yeah. I'm Ty think like I'm. But I, I'm. I'm. Wow. I'm on. I'm on one. But it's situation where, where it's like pressure McDonald's.
Akash Singh
Yes.
Cam Patterson
And pressure bus pipes.
Akash Singh
I. Dude, one of the best things about the Internet is I think it forced comedians to write new jokes.
Cam Patterson
Yeah.
Akash Singh
Like you're, you're coming into the game a little Bit later, I think, like, there was a time where, like, I knew. And you probably know guys that, like, have been doing the same hour for. And now that just can't exist anymore. There are certain guys that do it and then they just kind of fall off. So you do need to generate more material. Because the way that we get on now is we put our material out. Yeah, but. But you also need time to develop it. And that's just the tricky thing. Like, I remember early in my career when I was putting out, I was putting out a joke a week, and I did it for a year, and that was hard. And I had a bunch of time from the last hour I did that I could put out. So I always think about that with you guys. It's like the best opportunity in standup is being regular on Kill Tony. And it will force you to learn how to write jokes in a way that most comedians will never understand.
Cam Patterson
Quit fast and hurt.
Akash Singh
You gotta get on it.
Cam Patterson
A lot of my shit be ass, though. Yeah. A lot of my shit.
Akash Singh
Does the audience get that? Like, that's the other thing. Like, I hope the audience starts to understand, like, this is a new minute every week. You can't get. They don't give you that expectation.
Cam Patterson
Now. Some people do. Like, people. I don't read the comedy. They talk about me now I'm reading, man. A situation where it's like, some people be like, nah, you gotta understand. It's like it's a new minute and it's tough. But you also got dickheads that understand comedy, so they think it's a very easy thing.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
One and two situation where it's just like, people don't get the fact that. Damn. What I was trying to. I was gonna say something really smart and worded. Then the coffee was like, no, you're not.
Akash Singh
Why they don't understand this idea that a tough takes time to work on a joke to make it good.
Cam Patterson
Yeah.
Akash Singh
Because that's the thing. It's like every time.
Cam Patterson
Oh, this is the situation too. Is like. So I'm coming up with new jokes every week. And most of them, like, I thought when I was taking a shit.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
You know what I'm saying? Where it's like, hopefully this is funny. Cause I really have too much to come up with. And then you got people that are like, killers that'll get pulled. And they doing like, they closer.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
And that's put up against my taking the shit joke. Yeah. You feel what I'm saying? Which is also like, well, this nick cam ain't shit. Everything else I had is gone, bro. Yeah, so one of them situations too.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Mark
Some uncle advice though on the comments is like, you ever look at the views versus the number of comments? Yeah, it's 0.1% of the people and they're the most insane people. A lot of times making the. Oh, this joke sucks. Like that guy. It ain't about you, but it only.
Akash Singh
Hurts when you kind of think your joke sucks.
Cam Patterson
Yeah.
Akash Singh
Like when you think your joke is a. And somebody say, yeah, this. I don't get a comic. You kind of think it sucks and you look into the comments for them to say it's funny. And then you're like, this sucks. Right?
Cam Patterson
You got me.
Akash Singh
I was wrong.
Cam Patterson
This ain't funny. I get it, dude. You know what I'm saying Now how.
Mark
Do you safeguard against that changing your. Because you're four years in. So like, as you develop your voice, do you have to safeguard against. While I'm writing? One minute at a time. And that could change the kind of comic I am down the road.
Cam Patterson
No, I like, I think I enjoy telling stories. Stories. That's kind of what I'm just.
Mark
So you just take a story, it's crush it down to a minute, and.
Cam Patterson
Then by the time you see it for real, it's like a whole different. Yeah, yeah. It's a whole different thing. You feel what I'm saying? Yeah. Which is like. Which, that's what I joke. I like, I like stories. I like telling stories. I'm not like a. I'm not really a one minute guy. Yeah. Like, I like trying to build. I'm learning too, bro. Cause like, my one thing I really like right now that I'm doing is just trying to build a world around something that I'm talking about. Like trying to give you like a picture of what I'm trying to paint for you to see. So that's that. That's what I'm learning how to do. Like right now in the hour, do you talk about your basketball coach? Yeah. What? Not yet, but I'm trying to figure out how to.
Akash Singh
You should to do it, man. What happened?
Cam Patterson
Who is your basketball coach on crack? Okay, my basketball coach was. I had one on. I had one on crack and I.
Akash Singh
Had one coach do. Well, all the people guiding you in life have been like extreme athletics. It's really worked out.
Cam Patterson
It's the best. And the funniest is I never forget his name.
Akash Singh
All my basketball coach had is a chicken chair.
Cam Patterson
A basketball? No hoop, just a basket. That's It. And it was flat, deflated. No air in that neither. So.
Akash Singh
So what happened?
Cam Patterson
What happened? N. So I had a. I had a coach named W. West, and he was on crack. He's the only coach that ever believed in me. Only coach that was like. Only coach, that real deal was like, Cam, he told me. I swear to God, he said, cam, if. If I had you all four years, you would have been all them American. I swear to God, you would have been. Oh, you might not be that good at ball.
Akash Singh
That's the only guy who believed. I know he played.
Cam Patterson
He played in the league, dog.
Akash Singh
Which league?
Cam Patterson
NBA. Okay. He was on the. He was on the practice screen, but he was there. Like, he made. He made it. He was like. He was like. He was like 6, 11, tall as. But a crackhead, like, on crack. He was like, man, I'm telling you, that's offer you to been a. All the mega. I promise you that. And he walked away. And another coach came up to me, was like, I just want you to know, Cam.
Mark
Did he say that actually to people as well?
Cam Patterson
No, but he was like. He actually smoked like this. Is this a real crackhead?
Akash Singh
Yeah, the school would employ him.
Cam Patterson
And. Yeah, he was the basketball coach and the volleyball coach. Okay. Yeah. What did he know about volleyball? Nothing. Nothing. He knew about volleyball, but he gave him the job. And my other coach, the head coach, just hated me. He just wasn't. He just didn't with me.
Mark
Why?
Cam Patterson
Well, I did a couple. I was. I was. At one point, we was like. I was on JV, right? And I was off on JV. I was like, the guy on JV. I was also 18, but that's not the point. I could have made a team at 18. No, you couldn't have, JB. 18. I was amazing. What are you talking about? I was amaz. I was dropping like 20 points a game. I was dead, son.
Mark
You're scoring on freshman in high school. You could serve in the military. Like, that's not good. That's not impressive.
Cam Patterson
That was amazing.
Mark
Yo, I can't. I can't make it to the coach. I got drafted.
Cam Patterson
To the league.
Akash Singh
Gotta go to Afghanistan.
Cam Patterson
I apologize. I was amazing, though. I was great. Yeah, but it was a situation where. Shush. You got him. You got him. No, he doesn't. I promise you. You don't. By the way he walked. I was talking. I promise you, it's the walk. I promise you. It's the. You don't.
Akash Singh
No, you.
Cam Patterson
I'm on your head. I'm like, really?
Akash Singh
You Might be like scrappy on D or something. Is crossover you going to be over?
Cam Patterson
I'm a practice allstar dog.
Akash Singh
Yeah, practicing though.
Cam Patterson
No, no, one on one was damn near practice.
Akash Singh
I never lost a one on one.
Cam Patterson
Game, you know, in your life.
Akash Singh
Never lost a one on one game. So I'm beating NBA players one on one.
Cam Patterson
I'm just getting money.
Akash Singh
I'm beating NBA players.
Cam Patterson
I got a badge. You don't beat me. I've beaten.
Akash Singh
I beat the number two draft pick.
Cam Patterson
I got a badge, you don't beat me. The best college number be me. So I got a band. I got $1,000 going be in basketball.
Mark
He knows what a band is.
Cam Patterson
Hey, hold up.
Akash Singh
1,000.
Cam Patterson
1,000. Okay, 1,000.
Akash Singh
1,000.$ $1,000. I don't beat you in basketball.
Cam Patterson
I bet money your hand's too small, bro.
Akash Singh
You can't even palm a basketball. There's no way. Look at me, dead ass.
Cam Patterson
I swear to God.
Akash Singh
1000.
Cam Patterson
I swear to God.
Akash Singh
We're playing.
Mark
Yeah, I'm playing.
Akash Singh
Next time I'm in Austin, we play.
Cam Patterson
Let's play. Yeah, I swear to God.
Akash Singh
I believe you swear. Man, you saying it a lot of times this makes me think you didn't think I was going to shake your hand.
Cam Patterson
Yeah, I think he shake your hand.
Akash Singh
He shake.
Cam Patterson
Man, I got, I really got a piss and this coffee, man. Two things going on right now.
Akash Singh
I got call his accountant, clear the bank.
Cam Patterson
Hey, move the money.
Mark
Move $1,000.
Akash Singh
Move the savings to Jolly. Don't let him touch it.
Cam Patterson
Don't let him buy no furniture. I need that thousand now. We got it.
Akash Singh
We're gonna play. All right, guys, let's take a break for a second because I think we got to talk about America. When I say America, I mean energy, okay? It takes energy to become the greatest country in the history of the world. It takes energy to create the greatest economy in the history of the world. It takes energy to create the greatest people, the greatest culture, the greatest ideas, the greatest innovation in the history of. Of the world. Okay, how are you going to do that? I know I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it by a veteran backed energy company. Because veterans know about energy. They've been around the world. They try all the beans, okay, we go, we conquer a country. We see what kind of beans they got. These guys are the first ones on the bean fields, okay? They've tested them all. All right? They know how to stay awake. They got to stay awake for 36 hours to bomb a nuclear facility in Iran. You think you're doing what? That's with some, some French caffeine. No, Black rifle car coffee. Veteran owned black rifle coffee. They got the best coffee on the planet. They also got the best energy drinks on the planet. Look at this. Black rifle coffee right here. Project Mango, okay? Destabilize a third world country. Take some beans and some mango. What we're doing is we're connecting all the resources from the countries we destabilize. Akash Singh
Your next Lyft ride, student loan balances and more. But here's where it gets even better. BILT isn't just about points. They're actually helping you build credit by reporting your rent payments to credit bureaus for free. That's huge. Cam Patterson
Oh, wait a minute. What's this? What's our find?
Akash Singh
Oh, we got some highlights.
Cam Patterson
This is me. Hold on, hold on. Y' all have. This is me. Oh, hell, yeah. This is good, man.
Akash Singh
You're a lefty.
Cam Patterson
Don't worry about anything. I do. Just know you shoot. Just know your fault. That's all my highlights, by the way. That was it. You pull me out of game after that. He pulled me out of game immediately after that. Hold on.
Akash Singh
Go back to this.
Cam Patterson
I got pulled out of game immediately after that.
Akash Singh
Let me see how excited you are after hitting it.
Cam Patterson
That's.
Akash Singh
Oh, no, you're. You're cooked.
Cam Patterson
You think so?
Akash Singh
Yeah. You putting your hands up like mark, shooting.
Cam Patterson
Give me the ball. But you gotta understand something new. My. The real. Oh, actually, I have a. Let me tell y'. All, this. Like, this is. This is. This is perfect. So that team we playing, right? That's. That's winning me. That was their first year being, like, a school. What number are you? I'm number four.
Akash Singh
Okay.
Cam Patterson
I'm not in the game no more. I told you I made that shot. I got pulled out immediately.
Akash Singh
Wait, why?
Cam Patterson
Huh? Cause my coach fucking hated me, man. He fucking hated me. So this real shit, that school we playing, that's when it met their first year being like a school and shit. And then. But they're like. They're good. Like, that whole team was pretty nice. And we played them at their first home game ever, like, after school. And just imagine like a movie basketball game.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
Like, everybody showed up. Everybody's there. Like, it's sold out. Like, all that shit is full. Every school in Orlando was built the exact same. Like, every gym. Yeah. So, like, that. This. This dude, this. This gym who's. He was five dog.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
He was fire.
Akash Singh
That's my game. More like.
Cam Patterson
Yeah. Look at it. That's all I got, man.
Akash Singh
That little hitch in your jumper.
Cam Patterson
I'm really like.
Akash Singh
That's not good. That little hitch.
Cam Patterson
Give me.
Akash Singh
Up you get.
Cam Patterson
And then. That's not it. Yeah.
Mark
She said, hear me out.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Mark
That's not your shoulders.
Akash Singh
No, no, no, no, no.
Cam Patterson
I don't care what you say. You understand that whenever I come confident, I am about this. He's.
Akash Singh
I don't even know if you're really a lefty. That's how ugly that shot Is have you tried sh. With your right hand? Have you tried shooting with your right hand?
Cam Patterson
Shoot both hand.
Akash Singh
It's the first home game. The entire school showing up every bleachers, everybody there.
Cam Patterson
It's insane, right? And they're supposed to be blowing us out by like 100. They a way better team. They supposed to beating the shit out of us. And I. The funny thing about this game is I knew I wasn't gonna play.
Akash Singh
Okay?
Cam Patterson
I know for a fact I'm not getting in the game. I'm at Walmart line. Just enjoying that. I'm in the gym. I'm just happy to be there, dog. I'm just excited to be in the gym. And so the games going on, it's close and I'm very happy. I'm getting to watch this close game. Close as I'm like, hell yeah, dog. I got the best seats in the house. I'm having a great. It's just amazing, dog. We really compete with you. I'm excited for the team. I'm just exc. Right, My shoes not tied. Like, I'm like, I don't even know if my jersey under my shirt, under my warm up anymore. I'm like, I'm just happy to be there, right? And my coach called the timeout. We're down by one point. Down by one point. It's four seconds left on the clock. Four seconds. I haven't played the whole game. Called a timeout. They inbounding the ball. He said, hey, Cam, get in. I say, huh? He said, come here. We're putting you in the game. He called, he said, listen, hear me out. In front of the whole team, he goes, listen, hear me out. When they inbound the ball, I want you to steal it. Score. We win the game. Swear to God, hey, I swear to God. I haven't played the whole game. He look at me in my face and go, listen. Once you steal the ball, score, win the game. If you don't steal the ball, foul immediately. I said, okay, I got you, right? I'm thinking, my brain goes, this is my Disney. Like, this is my Disney moment. Like I'm a score. I'm going to get a scholarship for this year. My life is fun to change, right? We beat the team one point. It's going to be amazing, right? I go to get the steal. I don't get to steal, obviously. I go to foul. 4 seconds left, no time on the clock. Time runs out, throw the ball in the air. They. They storm the court. I'm. I'm sitting there. I'M mad kinda like. I think I up for everybody my cool. Let me dead in my face. And you go, you the reason we lost you a. And then that was it. That was it.
Akash Singh
That was the crackhead coach that believed.
Cam Patterson
That was the head coach. Oh, okay. You the reason we lost the game.
Akash Singh
The crackhead came up to. He was like, you won the game, Kim. You're the hero, Kim.
Cam Patterson
You did. You did. I missed it, but you did it. You did it, dog.
Akash Singh
Look at all these fans.
Cam Patterson
They're going crazy. They so excited for this. You did it. They had the wrong jersey and they're selling. That's amazing. They looked me down my face like.
Akash Singh
Yeah, who are these coaches? Like, how do these people. You hear these stories of coaches being like, brutal to. At the end of the day, it's high school kids. Like, how. How did that happen?
Mark
How do you get in the.
Akash Singh
Where you could just curse at Hunter. He was an adult at the time.
Mark
Working on my Texas.
Akash Singh
You bumping him. HR block.
Cam Patterson
And I was that he. That hated me that whole year, though, dog. Like, I had a homeboy.
Mark
Were you 18 at the time?
Akash Singh
Were you. Were you like.
Cam Patterson
I was. I was 18 turned 19. I failed degree.
Akash Singh
Where you come.
Mark
This is JV.
Cam Patterson
No, I'm on varsity at this point. That. That was varsity. That was varsity.
Akash Singh
Imagine being 20 on varsity.
Cam Patterson
But that would be craz. The other team's moms and everybody that's caught on that team, like Janzo and them, they always like them were sophomores, so I was a senior.
Akash Singh
That kid, number 10, was a sophomore.
Cam Patterson
Yeah.
Akash Singh
Did he go play ball in college or anything?
Cam Patterson
I think he went like juco for a minute. I don't know what he. I don't know what he up to now, but a lot of them people on there, a lot of that team, they, they. They really. They were really good.
Akash Singh
Yo, this is. This is like the dumbest question, but it's gonna go somewhere. Do people in Orlando go to Disney World? Is that like. Or is Disney World like us going to the Empire State Building in New York?
Cam Patterson
No.
Akash Singh
So you never go visit it like.
Cam Patterson
When you were a kid.
Akash Singh
So it is fun as a kid to do it.
Cam Patterson
It's not. Looked at you doing that shit like when you older. I think that's just gay.
Akash Singh
There is, there's. Okay, so Mark has this point. Okay, okay, okay. This is actually good that you're here for this. Disney adults. Disney adults. Miles believes that Disney adults are like mature, intellectual people. And was that the argument you were making, Miles? Yeah, you Got it. Let me not put words in your mouth. No, you got it.
Cam Patterson
You got it. No, let me not.
Akash Singh
You tell me. You tell me. I just think Disney is a nice place, and I think that adults go to enjoy it for different reasons than just childish.
Cam Patterson
Because they're pedophiles. Exactly. Because they're pedophiles. They want to.
Akash Singh
That's what they say to you. So they can look at happy children.
Cam Patterson
They want to get drunk. Can go. That kid drink around the world. You can drink around the world.
Akash Singh
Yeah, you drink around the world.
Cam Patterson
That. That is actually kind of fire collective Miles. That still. What the Going on over there? Still pedophil. Still pedophilia, but, like, you can drink around the world for sure.
Akash Singh
Okay. So you can still.
Cam Patterson
You can go to Epcot.
Akash Singh
Is that the one? Epcot is okay.
Cam Patterson
You can drink around the world. Yeah, that's cool. Epcot have rides. There's no rides there, so there's no kids up.
Mark
So you're not into being. You're not into being around children sober.
Cam Patterson
I don't want to be around kids at all. Trying to. I'm tired of your.
Akash Singh
Media train, bro.
Cam Patterson
Stop trying me. I've learned it. I've learned the media train. You can't say we're taught it as much. You feel what I'm saying? Yeah.
Akash Singh
Can't call people gay ass.
Cam Patterson
Can't call people. You got respectfully. You got to say respectfully. You know what I'm saying? And, nigga, you n. We got my real, real. We was in the airport, Austin. You told me some real nice words, man. I went home. I called my dog. I think you're fantastic. No, no, my dog. I called me. I was like. But that told me. He was like. He was just really a With me dog. Meant the world to me.
Akash Singh
Can I tell you something about him, though? He smokes crack.
Cam Patterson
No.
Akash Singh
I got a severe crack.
Cam Patterson
Hey, you hold it up real well.
Akash Singh
Akash is a big fan of yours. I mean that sincerely.
Cam Patterson
I know that. But it's funny.
Akash Singh
It's funny to be like he's gonna try to make you look like a complete.
Cam Patterson
Yeah, man. You're a piece of for that. I love you for that, but you're a piece of shit for that. You're a bad guy.
Mark
I think you're super talented.
Akash Singh
I think you're super talented.
Cam Patterson
I think you're super funny.
Mark
I think you're super funny. Right, people?
Cam Patterson
Yeah, you're right. Hey, listen, that's. That my.
Mark
Though, no, I think you're star.
Cam Patterson
I really Do.
Mark
Big fan.
Cam Patterson
No, I love every. I don't know why we acting like I love you. Love you buddy, but just watch him. You think you in a game one on one?
Mark
Not at 41 but 25. I think I beat him.
Cam Patterson
No, I'm telling. Nobody in this room would beat me bro like that. Don't even. So first of all, finding that. Thank you for that. I hung open, open. Hey, read the caption though. You gotta read the caption. What does it say? Yeah, what is dot, dot, dot? You know what the going on. The two hands up looking for a pass. That's what the going on part of my old idea is diabolical work though. Read the caption. Read the caption. Read it though.
Akash Singh
I love that picture. Go back to the picture real quick. That's me in my backyard.
Cam Patterson
Yeah, that's hungry right there. Yeah, come on. I was 18 then, JV just staring.
Akash Singh
At some 13 year old.
Cam Patterson
Kill me.
Akash Singh
Oh, this is fire right here.
Cam Patterson
After that, she had that on. My mama dressed me.
Akash Singh
No way.
Cam Patterson
What would you.
Mark
How you going to sell bean pie?
Cam Patterson
You see that? You see that chain I got on? That's a community chain.
Akash Singh
What do you mean?
Cam Patterson
What does that mean? Me and my dog shared that chain for.
Akash Singh
I love that.
Cam Patterson
That is fire. That's my day to wear. WWE couple.
Akash Singh
That's fire.
Cam Patterson
That's my day to wear it, dog. Hell yeah.
Akash Singh
You got the flick off.
Cam Patterson
Come on, man. I'm taking pictures with a chain. I will dunk, by the way. I can dunk, by the way.
Akash Singh
Really?
Cam Patterson
Yes.
Mark
That's impressive. How tall are you?
Cam Patterson
Five seven. Really?
Mark
You could fire dunk?
Cam Patterson
Yes, I'm an athlete.
Akash Singh
If you could dunk, then there's a chance that you could be.
Cam Patterson
I'm gonna you up.
Akash Singh
No, no, no, no. That's not gonna happen. Okay, but I don't believe that you can actually dunk in a 10.
Mark
It looks like it's time.
Cam Patterson
I can't. I can't do it now. But I could. Yes.
Akash Singh
Would you believe me if I told you that I used to be able to dunk?
Cam Patterson
Hey, look at me. My face.
Akash Singh
Would you believe me?
Cam Patterson
No.
Akash Singh
What if I told you dunk in games 5 on 5?
Cam Patterson
You was like back scratches.
Akash Singh
Not back scratches, but like I saw.
Mark
Him dunk on a kid. That was about five, three.
Cam Patterson
I got guns on a five foot. Dunk it on me just now.
Akash Singh
Yeah, it was funny.
Mark
I mean it was game point to be fair. Yeah, it was. That's how we ended the.
Cam Patterson
The game. Who?
Akash Singh
Oh, we don't want to watch this.
Cam Patterson
We're taking down.
Akash Singh
This is just a number two draft pick. And I took him down, but no big. This is the last person. This is the last person that tried to challenge me in basketball.
Cam Patterson
You play, though.
Akash Singh
That's Jay Williams. Do you know who that is?
Cam Patterson
Yeah, I understand what you're saying. And that guy's. That guy's probably amazing. Look at you.
Mark
I'm sweaty, dude. He's actually so young that that name doesn't mean anything to him. Isn't that crazy?
Akash Singh
Go back, go back. Yeah, Watch this. Go back to. Yeah, go to the end. Go to the end. Right there where you see that hump? Yeah, right there. Look at him. He tries to play me. I don't play around with people try to play me. That's the thing you need to know about me. If you try to disrespect me, you know, bad things happen to you. So Jay got a little cocky. He thought he could disrespect me. And your defense is terrible. You ever play defense with your head? He tried to throw ball. I let him shoot that weak ass jumper. I know he don't got the legs for it. It's a long game. It's tied up. I pull up brick, but whatever.
Cam Patterson
Hey, hey, but you have bad brick. You didn't have to rebound.
Akash Singh
You can have rebound. But what I told him is I'm gonna hit him with the hesi and I'm gonna hit him with and. And see you later. You're out of here. We gotta go to the premonition and then pull up and let me just make it dramatic and.
Cam Patterson
No.
Akash Singh
So this is what's gonna happen to you. But you didn't play in the. You didn't play in the NBA, so this was gonna happen.
Mark
Give me full context. It was a game to seven and Jay Williams gave him six.
Cam Patterson
Listen, that's.
Akash Singh
You want to give me six?
Cam Patterson
I will put a thing. Hey, look, I'm a confident. I.
Akash Singh
Been crazy.
Cam Patterson
No, I'm not doing. That's how you get everybody.
Akash Singh
The last dude that did it got it, man.
Cam Patterson
Why would I do that? That sounded very good too. Last dude that got it. Get it. Got it.
Akash Singh
It does happen. It does happen.
Cam Patterson
Last dude that did.
Akash Singh
The last dude that asked for it got it.
Cam Patterson
Did you ever explain why your coach didn't like you? He just. There's no. You said you did something. It was. No, really, it was. It was a lot of situations where I was just like, not the best, best guy. You feel what I'm saying?
Mark
Like, you Were smart. Smart mouth or what?
Cam Patterson
Not even. Not even like a smart mouth. It just like, I thought he was. I lowkey thought he was a. Respectfully, Respectfully. How do you.
Akash Singh
How do you do that? How do you respect.
Cam Patterson
You can't really lie. You can't really cuss him out. And I just wasn't like. It was a lot of situations where, like, he did one. One time, we were this real. I had a home. But he. He was like a star player, right? We was the same. We were both seniors. But he was a young senior. He was like 18. No, he was.
Akash Singh
It's like a young senior working 40.
Cam Patterson
Hours a week in public.
Akash Singh
He's a young senior. Man. It's crazy. Three kids.
Cam Patterson
Young guy. Young guy graduated.
Akash Singh
Young guy graduated.
Cam Patterson
He's senior that graduated on time. One of them youngsters, he was like. He was like, just turned 17 and I seen you, like, you know what I'm saying? And he was dating a girl who was like an old freshman.
Akash Singh
Man, Cam, just be careful, Cam. It's too many. Epstein files out right now, not me.
Cam Patterson
That nigga. Yeah.
Mark
17 and 15.
Akash Singh
But calling her an old freshman is funny. What's an old freshman? Thirteen and three quarters.
Cam Patterson
No, you 14 if you a freshman. She was like, a little dumber. So she was like 15 going on 16.
Akash Singh
Okay, so it was like a 17 and a. And a 16.
Cam Patterson
Yeah, it's right. Right though, right?
Akash Singh
Yeah, it's probably. Probably a little younger, but for the story, we'll do 17 and 16, which is totally fine.
Cam Patterson
No, first of all, it's not me. You're making it seem like I'm saying it's not.
Akash Singh
It's that you're right.
Cam Patterson
You're right.
Akash Singh
Why am I so protective of you?
Cam Patterson
Yeah, I appreciate that, but, like, so.
Akash Singh
Because I need my money, okay? You need my thousand.
Cam Patterson
Hey, look, you not gonna win, okay? We see he was dating. I was calling him a pedophile. Pedophile all day. Yeah.
Akash Singh
As one was.
Cam Patterson
As one was. I was calling a pedophile the whole day.
Akash Singh
You're on the right side.
Cam Patterson
You're a pedophile. You're a pedophile.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
You're a pedophile. The whole day.
Akash Singh
The whole day.
Cam Patterson
We get a study hall. I tell him, I say, hey, man, did you know you're a pedophile? In front of my coach, right? Our coach hears me call him a pedophile. He said, why you call him a pedophile? I said, he dating a freshman year senior. It's kind of crazy, right? My coach goes Yeah. N. He a pedophile. Right.
Akash Singh
Which coach is this?
Cam Patterson
Which not a crackhead.
Mark
Non cracking.
Akash Singh
The coach that called you the bad word.
Cam Patterson
Yes. He had to point to the game. He won the beginning again. So he said, yeah, nigga, you a pedophile. That's what he say, right? So we get to the game later that day. He is our leading scorer. It's halftime. We getting beat by a team. We should be blown out by, like, 40. He's not. He not producing anything. He not doing good at all. And we get to. We get to. He scored, like, two points the whole game.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
My coach goes like, I know why we lose. I know exactly why we lose in the game because Cam been calling Jamel pedophile all day. He's a bad teammate. This coach sucks.
Mark
Crazy.
Cam Patterson
Cam is a bad. It's his fault. Let me tell you something. Haven't played the whole game.
Akash Singh
You haven't been in the whole game, right?
Cam Patterson
Not at all. It'll be like that. Where, like, he just don't.
Akash Singh
So he would just blame everything on you.
Cam Patterson
Everything like, you for real. But then I got in that game, and then after the halftime, I got in. He. He got mad. We were losing so bad, he quit coaching. He sat in the bleachers. He's winning. Sat in the bleachers. You know, what a guy.
Akash Singh
This guy's awesome. This guy's amazing. Actually kind of a cool coach.
Cam Patterson
He said, you know what? Y' all want to coach ourselves, Coach our son. Then it went sign up bleachers. The assistant coach was like, it Cam get in the game. So I got in the game, and I was so nervous that I. We were working on skip passes a lot, and so I tried to throw a skip pass. The dude jumped it. And, you know, like, the. The baskets that, like, aren't in play. Yeah.
Akash Singh
They sold it out to the side.
Cam Patterson
Yeah. But they were down this day for some reason.
Akash Singh
Okay.
Cam Patterson
And so I just launched that to the other basket that wasn't in play.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
And I got pulled. Oh, no. That'll be cool. No. And I got pulled out immediately.
Akash Singh
You just chucked it some shrapnel.
Cam Patterson
Yeah, it was bad dog. And you can find that. You'll be you. I posted that somewhere. It's like on Tik Tok or something. I posted that. It's bad dog.
Akash Singh
It's like you're blaming it on the skip pass technique. The coach is fundamentals. He told you skip past.
Cam Patterson
I blame. I blame Kosar for all my mistakes in life. That's his name. Kosar he's a real. One time I told him, I told me my own boy, he a Christian rapper now. And we told him, we say, what's his name? Caleb. Caleb Gordon.
Akash Singh
Let's. Let's look up Caleb Gordon.
Cam Patterson
Yeah.
Akash Singh
Yeah, okay.
Cam Patterson
He's amazing, dog. And so we. We were both on the. We. We were both on the team. And we. We came into practice, we both didn't play. Both didn't play at all. And we was like, yeah, coach, you know, I think we going to be something in life, though. That's it right there. I said, I think we gonna be something in life, though, bro. So I think what you should do is you should get pictures of us and you should put it in the gym, let people know that we went to the school.
Akash Singh
Oh, I love these stories. I love these stories.
Cam Patterson
And my coach let me down. He looked like. Then I found. I swear to God, let face, he go. You know what? That's a great idea. I'm get two pictures of y'. All. I'mma print them out, I'mma take him to the gun range and I'mma shoot him until.
Akash Singh
Wow, that's crazy.
Cam Patterson
Get more and then get more bullets.
Mark
Yeah, that's crazy. She didn't see that coming.
Cam Patterson
What you think he was going to say?
Akash Singh
Well, I thought you now are in the school because you're so successful. Caleb's so successful.
Cam Patterson
He's doing great. And. No, we're not. He go back on the time because, you know, he's a Christian rapper. And they really, with that, they my time.
Mark
Yo, your coach sucks, dude.
Cam Patterson
Yeah, I mean, you're a bad guy. One thing he did say. One thing he did say that was that I. That I think about a lot. Two things he taught me.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
One thing he taught me, I always make my bed because of this guy.
Akash Singh
You always make your bed because.
Cam Patterson
Yeah. Because he always would say, if you. If you start your day making your bed, you always start with a win. That's something you would always. I like that. So I do that because of him. And he would always. He would always be like, you know, I'm always right. I'm never wrong. I'm always right. He said, you a terrible basketball player, but you funny as hell, man. They say about come. He said, you funny. You should do something about being funny.
Akash Singh
He said that?
Cam Patterson
Yeah.
Akash Singh
That's pretty cool.
Cam Patterson
Real shit.
Akash Singh
So maybe he was trying to force you out of basketball. I mean, that's so you could focus on your true gift and passion, which is comedy.
Cam Patterson
Yeah, but I didn't Know that like you trying to kill my dreams. You dirty. My dream is to play basketball, dog.
Akash Singh
But he's always right.
Cam Patterson
You're a terrible basketball player. So.
Akash Singh
You're a terrible basketball player.
Cam Patterson
Better him.
Akash Singh
Do not be surprised.
Cam Patterson
Do not be surprised.
Akash Singh
I'm telling you, when I bring your ex coach to coach me, that might happen. He might be there on the side.
Cam Patterson
That might be the. I'mma lose. I'm not going to win. That's some psychological warfare.
Akash Singh
Your pedophile friend and he'll have like a school of children with him and said you spoke this into existence. This is all. I didn't even want this life until.
Cam Patterson
You told me you did this.
Akash Singh
It's possible I'm going to play up psychological warfare games.
Cam Patterson
I'm excited cuz you not going to win.
Akash Singh
We'll see. I mean we're going to see next time I'm in Austin. All right, guys, let's take a break for a second. You see the lights. You already know what time it is. Blue Chew, Bluechew. It's summer, guys. Summer dick is hot and sweaty. But it's not always stiff. Obviously there's a lot of things that are going your system. I'm not judging. You might be stressed, you might be sad, you might be depressed. It falls about to be here. There's a lot of things that are going on up here and you don't have to worry about what's going on down there. You want a stiff, you want it hard, you want it erect. And that's what the girl in your life deserves or the dude in your life. You know, no judgment. You do whatever you need. You put that dick wherever it is allowed to go. Consistent central. Okay, point I'm trying to make here is bluechew has got your back. It's got your back so much you're going to get your first month free. All you got to do is pay $5 shape and same active ingredients inside. Viagra, Cialis. But this is the chew. The one that we rock with. The one you're going to stay rock with. You're going to go to bluechew.com you can use the promo code flagrant. You're going to get that first month free. Just pay the $5 shipping. You are welcome. All right, guys, let's take a break for a second. I want to shout out talk space. Why? Because they were so unbelievably ahead of the curve. It's amazing when they first started this company, this idea of like doing a face time or a zoom call with your therapist was absurd, right? We were so, like, locked into our habit of going to some shitty apartment building and walking into some tiny little closet room that had a adjoining bathroom in a small waiting area where you heard a couple fight before you walked in, and then you poured your heart out. You walk out crying, there's four people judging you. Very uncomfortable. Not the ideal space to get therapized in. Okay, Talk space went digital. Covid happened. And now this is the only way people do therapy. I mean, maybe not the only way, but for the majority of us, this is the way that you do have your conversations with your therapist. It is so easy to get started. You can easily sign up online, get paired with a licensed provider, typically within 48 hours. And Talkspace makes it getting help convenient. You can take your appointments from the comfort and privacy of your own home. You can even talk it out between your sessions, sending text messages to your therapist. Listen, I cannot tell you enough the ease of this, the ability to get connected with different therapists. Most people go, I don't even know how to get a therapist. You have to, like, ask friend. Your friend can't give you their therapist because they're like, shit. I told that person, you know all the horrible things about my friend. I can't have them talking to them. It's too. It's too much. It's too inside. This is where Talkspace can help you out. I'm telling you, they've made it so efficient, so amazing. And as a listener of this podcast, you're gonna get $80 off your first month with Talkspace. When you go to talkspace.com flagrant and then you enter the promo code, SPACE80. That's S-P A C E80. To match with a licensed therapist today, go to talkspace.com flagarant and enter the promo code SPACE80. How'd you get the movie, bro?
Cam Patterson
Just straight audition. Oh, wow.
Akash Singh
Nah, Usually some people got. Sometimes, you know, And I'm sure this will happen in your career. Like, people would be like, hey, you'd be great for this role. Can you do it?
Cam Patterson
No. That was. No, that wasn't at all. Yeah, I don't act like I'm not a. But you are.
Mark
You have, like, a real star quality. And like I said, I'm a fan. You could do whatever you want. And it seems like a similar career path to Chris Tucker, where it's like, Chris Tucker starts stand up. He has five great minutes. They're super funny. But it's like, I now, what do you want to do you could just kind of do that. You know what you want to do? You want to keep cracking the stand up, be the greatest ever, etc. Or you like not being in movies. Seems way more fire.
Akash Singh
Would you have.
Cam Patterson
I like stand up. Okay. I like movies. Movies is nice. But I love standard.
Akash Singh
Never, never leave. Never leave stand up.
Cam Patterson
No, never. That I love. I. I think. I think it gets lost in the fact that that is kind of happened fast for me.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
That people just think I just. I just want to. To be like people think I wanted to happen as fast.
Akash Singh
I didn't. This wasn't. I didn't know you even wanted to act.
Cam Patterson
I mean, I was something that just can't kind of. It just kind of came and I was like, yeah, it. In the movie. He does have.
Akash Singh
I don't want to blow up your whole spot.
Cam Patterson
He does have a makeout scene in the movie.
Akash Singh
Oh, what's his name? I have a feeling that Cam would push back on that creative choice of a. Listen, listen. You're going to have to have this makeout scene.
Cam Patterson
I bet money I would have quit the movie. I To quit the movie. Y' all got it, dog.
Akash Singh
They made me gay in a. In a scene once for real. They made me gay two weeks before they changed my character to gay.
Cam Patterson
They made the whole character gay.
Akash Singh
Yeah, but like he was in the closet gay, so he's like. Basically, they call me. This is like 100 true story. This is when was going like. This is when was going like, super. You know what? I hate this term. Like woke everybody's doing.
Cam Patterson
But.
Akash Singh
But basically the guy who. I won't say his name, but he's like a big guy, big actor and producer, whatever. And he calls me and I'm gonna use the words he used, and he goes, hey, man, we gotta make you a.
Cam Patterson
So.
Akash Singh
And I'm like, what? What do you mean? We're filming two weeks.
Cam Patterson
What are you talking about?
Mark
You already moved out to la?
Akash Singh
No, no, I was in New York at the time, but I was already agreeing to move out. And. And I remember I was walking in Union Square park and then he's like, yeah, we gotta make you. I'm like, what do you mean? He goes. He goes, there's not enough diversity in the movie and we don't wann to. So we got to make you diverse in some way. So you're gonna be. Swear to God. That's what I said.
Cam Patterson
And then you.
Akash Singh
Anything for Hollywood. I was like, what do you want me to do? He's like, Nah, you don't got to do anything.
Mark
This is free YouTube. Pre Kill Tony Pre. Like, you needed the industry back then.
Akash Singh
Back in the day, you thought that was your career trajectory. It was like, oh, if you get on the movie. I was like, well, do I have to do any. He's like, no, you don't have to do anything. And then you actually. Nobody knows you're gay in it. That's like this. Like, you're closeted. Exactly. And then. And then what happened is there's a scene. This is. I bet this will end up on, like, one of the streamers one day. But there's a scene where, like, I.
Mark
Think I've already put it up.
Akash Singh
Did we put it up?
Cam Patterson
Yeah.
Akash Singh
I mean, I should post. It's hilarious. But there's a scene where, like, I basically hook up with some guy, or I get by some guy, hey, man. Hey, man. In a bathroom. But you don't see it. All you see is my hands go on a wall, and then it's over.
Cam Patterson
And then.
Akash Singh
And then they tried to. And then they tried to do. They tried to put this other scene where I. We're at some, like, party, and it was like they changed the script the day of, and they're like, yo, by the way, instead of you just hanging at the party, like, with everybody, we were thinking that, like, you would walk into this room and three guys would follow you, and I would be like, that's not going to happen at all. But isn't that crazy?
Cam Patterson
Yeah, dog. I. I. Up to you, man. At one point in my life, I looked up to you. You should never tell me that. I got to tell you.
Akash Singh
I got to tell you what this industry is, man.
Cam Patterson
Why would you do that to me?
Akash Singh
And then I started posting clips on the Internet, and I was like, I can't do this.
Cam Patterson
That's. They got what? The humiliation ritual, bro. Illuminati Illum. Thank God I. I came in after that.
Akash Singh
But isn't that crazy? Like, that's agreed to the one guy, but he's like, gang bang. It's like, I. Like, I. I can't be leading y' all into a room. Like, it just felt too egregious.
Cam Patterson
Yeah. You know what I mean? Three behind you, right? Smiling. And I was like, nah, bro, that shit happened.
Akash Singh
The. Out of here.
Cam Patterson
Just walking. That's crazy, dog.
Akash Singh
Yeah, but isn't it like some producer and them had a talk, looked at you. No.
Cam Patterson
And then.
Akash Singh
No, they didn't even say that. I looked at the script that day, and I was like, what the is this?
Cam Patterson
No, but that's what I'm saying. They looked at you and said, yeah, a train.
Akash Singh
Yeah. And I was like, that's up.
Cam Patterson
That's disrespectful. That's crazy.
Akash Singh
Crazy, right?
Cam Patterson
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Akash Singh
You pull up to clip.
Cam Patterson
That is hilarious.
Akash Singh
I doubt it's available.
Cam Patterson
They got it, I guess. Oh, you got my. You found my jump shot. You can find this clip. If you find my jump shot, you can find. Find the clip. Find that. Please, God, please go Tried.
Akash Singh
We have tried to find it.
Cam Patterson
I'm find this.
Akash Singh
You'll find it.
Cam Patterson
I'm find it. Bring it to the basketball game. Playing on a loop. Get your hands and. Yeah. So go one more time.
Mark
Playing on the jumbo john for your next.
Akash Singh
So crazy.
Cam Patterson
But you don't have to kiss guys. Not with. Fine. No. Respectfully, no. Would you.
Akash Singh
Would you play a gay character that didn't do anything gay. He just was gay.
Cam Patterson
Now I'm cool.
Akash Singh
Really.
Cam Patterson
N. I don't like acting that much. Good acting is fun. But I want to. I'm not gonna go on my way to be a gay. I'm okay. Really. Like, you be gay, suck nigga, have a good time. You feel what I'm saying? I'm just.
Akash Singh
But you just wouldn't do it. Yeah, no, I wouldn't mind playing a gay character. I just wouldn't want to do the kissing. That kind of. But if he was gay. It is what it is. You would care if the character was dope.
Cam Patterson
Okay. Thank you. Okay.
Akash Singh
What if it was like, you get to play Batman, but, you know, why.
Cam Patterson
Would they make Batman gay? Why would they do that?
Akash Singh
Well, they make everybody something different now.
Cam Patterson
You know Snape.
Akash Singh
I think Snape is black. Severus Snape, Harry Potter. I would play black Snape. I would do that. Yeah, I would do that.
Cam Patterson
They did make him black.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
N Couldn't.
Akash Singh
Yeah, but you're early in the game, bro. Don't worry about it. They gonna try you.
Cam Patterson
Hey. See, they better try. I'm not doing it.
Akash Singh
Yeah. I'm just saying they gotta try to.
Cam Patterson
See, you know, they go. They gonna see. That's what they can do, though. Gonna test you a little bit. But I'm not. And go up that. Yeah, I'm okay.
Akash Singh
Yeah. Me, I was like one guy. Well, three is too much, which is one sensual guy. Yeah.
Cam Patterson
And you was getting.
Akash Singh
No. Yeah.
Cam Patterson
You had the hands on the wall.
Akash Singh
You think I was cleaning the wall? I think I was like, this doesn't look like a sterile environment. Consensual.
Cam Patterson
Whoa.
Akash Singh
No, no, no, no, no. Make this better. Cuz you're like, I didn't want this. Took it. But I look like Kim for a jump. Sh. I'm over here, guys. Watch out for Hollywood, man. Where's this movie coming out? Theaters.
Cam Patterson
Netflix.
Akash Singh
I think that's the.
Cam Patterson
That's.
Akash Singh
I think that's the. Yeah, I think theaters are. I think theaters are tricky. I think you could do theaters if it's Superman or, like, something big, but not saying this is not big, but like, existing IP that we were familiar with when we were kids.
Cam Patterson
Yeah.
Akash Singh
But like a new concept. I want it to be at a place where everybody already are, you know, I don't want you to have to get a babysitter, get put on an outfit and go to the theater. See it.
Cam Patterson
I wanted.
Akash Singh
You're at home and then it pops up while you're scrolling Netflix and then you're. Oh, Cam's in that. Oh, Kev's in that. I want to watch that. I think that's where n. I think.
Cam Patterson
It'S going to be, like, I think it's going to be pretty good. I mean, everybody else is great, like I said, but I'm just not. Learning how to act is fun. It's pretty dope.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
Like, I truly, like, enjoy.
Mark
Are they patient with you? Because I remember I did an HBO show, and they were not.
Cam Patterson
They were not patient with me. No, Very. They are.
Akash Singh
Riff. Do they let you have fun?
Cam Patterson
We.
Akash Singh
It's Rift City, though, really. Sometimes the writers and directors are like, yo, I wrote this shit and I want you to deliver it.
Cam Patterson
Tim Story, he's a direct on it. And the whole time it's like, y' all think that's fun? Let's go with it.
Akash Singh
Really?
Cam Patterson
Yeah. So it's a lot of creative. Like, yeah, that's fine.
Akash Singh
That's cool.
Cam Patterson
And I think that's pretty. It's really dope for me to have that as my experience for my first movie because it's not too light, like, but it'll be. It'll be scenes where I have, like, no lines. And it'll come up to me, like, if you feel like saying something funny, jump in. And I've done it a minute. He like, yeah, that's like, we'll keep that. Which is so nice. It's a blessing to be in a position where it's like, oh, like, that's. Is that opening for me, especially as a new.
Akash Singh
Also, you've taken two months out of your life to do a movie, and it's like, you make money on that. I think a lot of people don't realize this. Like, comics. Now we can make money on the road before. We're making, you know, $1500 a week and $2000 a weekend. Like, now we can make real money on the road to where, like, being in a movie makes us lose money. I don't know how much you're making.
Cam Patterson
But compared to what you make on the road.
Akash Singh
So it's like you want to make sure you maximize that experience. Like, if you're there, if I'm in.
Cam Patterson
A scene, yeah, I'm going. I want to be. I want to say some shit. I want to. You know what I'm saying? Let it be known. But it's like NASA. It's a super dope time. I really like, like, just being everybody in there, like, it's so helpful. You know, my son, them on SNL and the Cabbage Cab. And then also, I ain't tell you, I did Mason Gooden Jr. Kubin Gooden Jr. Son is. Is playing like he in it, too. Oh, so he's a. He's a great actor in his own right. Yeah. I'm surrounded by these phenomenal actors. So it's like, it's. It's dope. I really like it.
Mark
Kev drop stand up Gems, y'.
Cam Patterson
All.
Mark
Chop it up. Does he.
Cam Patterson
Yeah, it's a. It's funny, dog. We be talking this, and it's a. It's a. It's a line in the song that I like a lot. It's Jack Harlow with. With Drake Church. Head down.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
We say it's hard to. It's hard to chop jokes when you really just want advice. Like, we joking and like that. It's like, I really just want to be like, tell me everything you do.
Akash Singh
Cuz I look so up the game. He's been there.
Cam Patterson
Yeah. Cuz I. I mean, it's be 100%.
Akash Singh
He's also popped early and then had to start them and then come back and become Kev. So, like, he knows all the.
Cam Patterson
Every. Every step of the way. And it's like, man, I love that nigga my whole life. Yeah. So me to be around that every day is life.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
It's. It's insane to me.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
And it's hard to be like. It's hard on the fan out. Like you.
Mark
What's the best thing he told you? Advice wise. Have a plan.
Cam Patterson
It's not even too much, like, just. I think watching is more anything. Just seeing how he moves more.
Akash Singh
It's caught than taught.
Cam Patterson
He don't, yeah, he don't, he don't stop. So being able to sit there and just watch it because he, he talks and he get us game and like that. But it's more of like just seeing like the work ethic I thought I was going to see and then knowing like, no, this is exactly the same. This is it, this is, this what I, this is what I want to do. You feel what I'm saying?
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
And it's, it's, it's, it's, it's dope, bro. Were you nervous first time you met him? No, I can't say I would. No.
Akash Singh
Who'd you meet at the mothership that you were nervous about?
Cam Patterson
Rogan. But even like, even then it get to a point I just try to tell my brain like man, we all people. Yeah, you feel what I'm saying?
Mark
Had you met him before the Tucker Carlson moment that went viral. Cuz that there's a moment I, I talked to these guys about it and I think I talked to you about it.
Cam Patterson
Yeah, that's what, that's this moment.
Mark
I don't people understood how impressive this moment was with you and Tucker Carlson on Kill Tony.
Cam Patterson
Yeah.
Mark
Had you met Joe Rogan before that? And then we'll talk about the rest of it.
Cam Patterson
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Mark
So you and met Joe. Okay. But Joe Rogan is there. He brings Tucker Carlson. It's Kill Tony. Cam is going up. Here's where I don't think people appreciate how danger of dangerous of a position position you're in. Tucker, you give him five. If you just let it slide, black people are going to look at you and be like, he's corny, he's this, he's that. If you say something like you I don't like you. Everybody in the room and probably Joe Rogan who brought Tucker is going to be like, what are you doing? And so you give him five. You go this crazy. My grandma hates you.
Akash Singh
Oh yeah.
Mark
And I was like, that's the perfect thing to say. Now you, nobody in the room is uncomfortable and any black person watching is like, nah, he addressed it. And then Tucker tries to get you to back backtrack and goes, nah, she doesn't. And you go, yes, the she does. So now you double down, you got two laughs. And I, when I saw that moment I was like, dude, this kid is nice.
Cam Patterson
And I caught him a.
Mark
But it's such a like a non offensive thing to say. It was like, man, you handle that so perfectly.
Cam Patterson
I'll tell you right before you. Right before you play it. The funniest is I didn't know who he was. Oh. So I didn't know who he was. And everybody in the green was freaking out. He's on the podcast. And I called my dad. I said, hey, pops, who. Who is Tucker Carson? My dad go he a. And your grandma hate his ass. Thank you. All I needed. That's it. There you go.
Mark
But this is. Yeah, this is impressive.
Akash Singh
Cam Patterson.
Mark
Tucker Carlson.
Cam Patterson
High five. And this is. Yeah, it's crazy. My grandma hates you. So good.
Akash Singh
Chill. Dying.
Cam Patterson
She doesn't mean it.
Mark
I'd heard your name. I saw your first clip. And then when I saw that, I was like, nah, this kid is nice, dude.
Cam Patterson
Thank you, man.
Mark
Again, that was a position. I don't think people appreciate how well you handled it.
Cam Patterson
I really. I really enjoyed that. That was dope. Yeah, that was a good one. I want you to bring back Cam and the whites. I want to, but it's just a. Did you ever see this? No. This is a series Cam was doing where he was just doing white and trying to experience all this white for the first time time in his life. And he did a couple episodes. I think he put out one when I won. It was rock climbing and people loved it. Yeah, it did. It did good. But I'm like, you need to do more of these. Yeah. Because there's so much more white to do. People tried to make it. The people around me tried to make it a TV show. And I didn't know how to, like, navigate that at the time. What do you mean? Like, they want. I wanted it to be like, just fast paced. Like, put me in a room with people and just show them what I'm doing. And then I just. I just. It. I'll. No, but it seemed I'm gonna do Maverick and Lewis McQuirick and the game. The idea was Maverick was gonna be like my co host the whole time. And then I would always bring another comic on with me to show me the white shit. Yeah. And then today there would be like an expert in the white shit. And then they would show me, like, this is what I enjoy doing. And I would do the thing. The last episode we really shot shot was I went mountain bike riding.
Akash Singh
Okay.
Cam Patterson
I'm pretty good at it. Yeah. By the way, like five. I took my homeboy white cam with me. And that was terrible.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
He kept falling this. But it was like. It just seemed too white cam. Oh, yeah. Yeah. So I moved when I. When I moved to Austin, White cam Was already there.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
You feel what I'm saying? And he started in Gainesville, but he went to Austin early. And then by the grace of God.
Akash Singh
Is this Cam the comic?
Cam Patterson
No, Cam, he's a Florida guy, too. Different Cam. He cool.
Akash Singh
Yeah, that's cool.
Cam Patterson
White Cam and then camp. They tried to go black. Hella, you know, we can't do that.
Akash Singh
Claim it there.
Cam Patterson
Just camp Dog. But so he. White Cam had a job for me to work at and then a place for me to stay.
Akash Singh
Oh, wow. Okay.
Cam Patterson
But when I got there, and so they was like. I started calling the white Cam immediately. So everybody. It was stick in everybody's mind. Like, that's white camp.
Akash Singh
You got ahead of that.
Cam Patterson
Yeah, that is white camp. That's fucked.
Akash Singh
Dude.
Mark
This guy gave you a job, he gave you a place to stay, and.
Cam Patterson
He just gave him the shitty name Tom Cam.
Akash Singh
Keep it on white Cam's couch.
Cam Patterson
White Cam to. Is.
Akash Singh
Is there some white that you want to do? Is there some white that you're curious about?
Cam Patterson
Man, It's.
Akash Singh
You haven't done, like. What is. What is something.
Cam Patterson
Scuba diving.
Akash Singh
You got to go white people is fun. Try it out, bro. Al is all the white, by the way. He's done more white than any of us here.
Cam Patterson
I want to ride a bull.
Akash Singh
What? I want to do that too.
Cam Patterson
Al did say that I want to.
Akash Singh
Easily stay on asex want.
Cam Patterson
Okay, easy. I don't think I can, but I want to try. I want. I want a slow bull, though. I want one of them. Ain't going to buck a lot. Yeah, I don't going to do all the.
Mark
I think they call those horses.
Cam Patterson
You might want to ride a horse. Put Cam on a baby sheep. That's what I want.
Akash Singh
That's just women from San Antonio. Okay, so. So bull riding.
Cam Patterson
What? I. I want to ride a bull. I. I want. I don't want to skydive. Not. I want to do well. I want a fence. Fences sound cool.
Akash Singh
And sing fences sounds fun.
Cam Patterson
Fences sound funny. I fuck somebody up a fence. Believe in that. What else white people do like that. I want to try. I want to experience baking with a old white grandma. I think that'll be fun. I would enjoy that.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Mark
I don't know if she would.
Cam Patterson
Yeah, she might not, but it's fine. It's okay. My house or whatever. So.
Akash Singh
Shouldn't she be out.
Cam Patterson
Of crazy? I want an old cena. Old lady, too, dog.
Akash Singh
She just forgets you're there.
Cam Patterson
Oh, no. Oh, okay. Okay. Cookies. Cookies.
Akash Singh
Oh, my God.
Cam Patterson
How much longer Are we doing this?
Akash Singh
I said chocolate chip.
Cam Patterson
Not chocolate. What are we doing? What's going on?
Akash Singh
All right, what about travel? Any places that you really want to. To go to?
Cam Patterson
Nah, I don't know, man. I'm. I. No, not really. My mother, a flight attendant. No, I'm okay.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Mark
Your mom's a flight attendant? She traveled a lot.
Cam Patterson
N. Not really.
Akash Singh
Okay.
Cam Patterson
I mean, I mean, I traveled enough when I was younger. Like, I went to Hawaii.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
That's why I really knew I could be a thug. I did two things. I knew I couldn't be a thug. I knew I went to Hawaii as a kid and had an allergist lay on my back and picked me with some and made. I couldn't be. I could be really outside for real.
Akash Singh
Falling outside.
Cam Patterson
Careful. Grass. I'm l. Grass. I can't be outside. Not.
Mark
My tour is coming. You're going to get that opportunity within the year if you have.
Cam Patterson
I've been to Canada. I've been, I've been some places, but it's like, I don't know. I feel like Europe, but.
Akash Singh
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Cam Patterson
I mean, yeah.
Mark
When I, When I get that off, though, I'm saying, if it hasn't already, Amsterdam, all those places, you're gonna.
Cam Patterson
I do, I do want to do that, but the weird thing is, like, I want to go around the country, but I don't want to go around the country for fun.
Akash Singh
Yeah, yeah, of course.
Cam Patterson
I want to do it like, like stand up?
Akash Singh
Yeah, yeah.
Cam Patterson
I want, I want to go places and do stand up. But everybody been trying to get me to take a break. I'm like, you insane?
Akash Singh
Run with it.
Cam Patterson
For sure.
Akash Singh
Don't take a break. You're no take a break when you're old.
Cam Patterson
No, no, when I'm dead. I, I, I have some time to chill. Are the women different in New York versus, Versus Bad. They bad out here, boy. It's some out here, boy. I'm tell you something.
Akash Singh
It's a different game.
Cam Patterson
It's some out here. Hey, I ain't crack yet. I'm on. I'm on the way. Beat my meat a lot. I've been locked here.
Mark
I love video.
Cam Patterson
I love that.
Mark
That was great.
Cam Patterson
I've been locked the in. I've been doing stand up. I've been doing this move. I'm beating the out of my man, the dog. I bought a bottle of lotion, not be going to war bottles. That's cool. Oh, out of there, dog. I've been going to war. You hear me? I had to Tell myself, you got to chill out. It's a lot. It's a lot. I'm beat my meat a lot. Do it two days. No.
Akash Singh
Really.
Cam Patterson
Two days. You never did two days when I was young, you know, you hold it. Yeah. Getting a little. Yeah.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
I think by 27, my dick mad at me, boy. My dick upset. But also know, bro, I've been like. I've been leaving, I've been going back, and I've been like. I cracked a bit. I had a girlfriend for a second. So when I first got. I had a girlfriend.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
And even my lady had broke up. So I went back home, cracked my favorite at the crib. Had to go her. That was amazing. You know what I'm saying? It's pretty dope. Then I cracked another bitch.
Akash Singh
How did she become your favorite?
Cam Patterson
She do a lot of shit.
Akash Singh
Really? Yeah. And does she know that? Is she, like, really proud that she's a favorite or she know. Yeah.
Mark
Orlando.
Akash Singh
This Orlando.
Cam Patterson
Yeah. Okay. She know. She know. You know the.
Akash Singh
You at that camera right there.
Cam Patterson
What's that? You know to you off. I love you. Wait, what part of town she. What part of. She doesn't live in Altamont or Longwood or.
Akash Singh
You don't know. Got sister. As long as it's west Orlando, that's fine.
Cam Patterson
West Orlando.
Akash Singh
What you were asking for now, would that be a violation of respect to sleep with one of Mark?
Cam Patterson
Yeah. I would never do that. I won't crack nobody. Respect s. Now, if I don't respect you, then this is the fair game.
Mark
Yeah, that's fair.
Cam Patterson
Yeah. This is to give.
Mark
Miles and Mark are best friends and Miles wants to Mark sister.
Akash Singh
That's not true. What is that?
Cam Patterson
Yeah, what is that about?
Akash Singh
Yes, it is. Why you lying? Can we talk about Disney or something?
Mark
Got a lot of sisters, though.
Akash Singh
That is a good point. That is a good point that we should make. Is that you and him are best friends. And you respectfully have an attraction to one of his sisters or multiple great family. But he don't just want to crack him. He wants to be with her, which.
Cam Patterson
Is almost more respectful. Yeah, that's respectful.
Akash Singh
I don't take her name.
Cam Patterson
That's the closest you want to be in the family. You really gay. You just love Mar and you want a sister to get closer to Mark.
Mark
That's my homie.
Cam Patterson
That's a bro. Mr. Dog. Yeah, he isn't that beautiful. You try to put your hands on the wall or something like that? I'm open. I see. Me too.
Akash Singh
No, I mean, obviously the sister that you were interested in is happily married, Right.
Cam Patterson
Has a child.
Akash Singh
Has a child. So that maybe, you know the cards.
Mark
He have the energy, though, that he would take the child.
Akash Singh
I think you would be a great s. With all due. I think you be a great Miles Gagnon. Miles McCrea Yagna. Maybe you hyphenated.
Cam Patterson
Oh, hyphen is cool.
Akash Singh
Miles McCree Gagnon. Stand with one woman and one woman only. What? Mark. Sm. That's where I'll take the last name.
Cam Patterson
Whoa. Hey, wait a minute. That's kind of crazy. How the do we here. Respect for.
Akash Singh
All due respect. Yeah. I respect her so much, I'd take her last.
Cam Patterson
But be. That would make you my dad. And I accept that. Thought it through.
Akash Singh
Oh, my God.
Cam Patterson
You the. With the. With the producer tags, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I seen that. Yeah.
Akash Singh
Miles, why don't you drop that producer tag that you really like? Oh, with the.
Cam Patterson
He's got.
Akash Singh
He's got a couple bangers. I got a couple.
Cam Patterson
Come on.
Akash Singh
You can warm him up to it if you want.
Cam Patterson
Yeah. Al. I'm sorry.
Akash Singh
Mark's mom. All the respects. Yeah. Mark's mom I respect a lot. I think she's a. A lovely lady. Yeah.
Mark
And you take the last name.
Akash Singh
Yeah. But Mark sisters are just great people. Mark's brothers are cool, too. Yeah. Mark sisters crack the brothers, too. This is ins. No, Miles, come on, bro. If you had to take a brother to whip.
Cam Patterson
Yeah.
Akash Singh
Now if you had to take a brother.
Mark
Mike.
Cam Patterson
Oh, yeah.
Akash Singh
You go, Mike.
Cam Patterson
100, Mike, bro.
Akash Singh
Yeah, 100 big Mike. Mike's way funnier than.
Cam Patterson
He's going.
Akash Singh
Mike's funnier than Mark. In the hierarchy of Mark's siblings, Mark is.
Cam Patterson
You're. I'm like third, fourth.
Akash Singh
Fourth.
Cam Patterson
Funniest. Yeah, not even close. Yeah. Mike is absolutely.
Akash Singh
Mike's so funny. His sisters are funny. Stephanie's funnier. Everyone's funnier.
Cam Patterson
Damn.
Akash Singh
Damn right.
Cam Patterson
You know what they're missing, though.
Akash Singh
Didn't have a plan. Get themselves out of Orlando.
Cam Patterson
But with all due respect, I don't think you would be in anyone in my family. Let me see.
Akash Singh
We saw. We saw a few of his.
Cam Patterson
Get a look, brother. But you described your type. You. You know my type.
Akash Singh
What is your type?
Cam Patterson
I like. Let me get this out and write it. I love black women.
Akash Singh
But.
Cam Patterson
Let'S. I love. I love black women.
Akash Singh
I would also like to say. Me too. I also love black women. And let that be known on this podcast.
Cam Patterson
Oh, yeah.
Akash Singh
I also love black women.
Cam Patterson
That I.
Mark
Have yet to see.
Cam Patterson
Yet to see.
Akash Singh
My grandma hates you.
Cam Patterson
I feel that.
Akash Singh
For going.
Cam Patterson
You love black women, but you know, but I love black. I love all. I like all women though. But like, I like, I like hood.
Akash Singh
White, hood, white, hood, hood, white hose. So like a hand tattoo, I know that feels like.
Cam Patterson
Nah, that shit's fine.
Akash Singh
You like the white girls that like get the hair that feels like splendid.
Mark
That feels like aspartame.
Cam Patterson
Nah, it's not. I fuck with it, dude.
Akash Singh
But watch. Why, why, why, why?
Cam Patterson
I don't know, bro. I just. Something about them. Ho, bro, she make a happy.
Akash Singh
How? How, what is it that they do?
Cam Patterson
I can't even express it to you, dog.
Akash Singh
Really?
Cam Patterson
I just see him like go, yeah, but I also like, I like like light skinned women. Like dark skinned women. I'mma marry a black girl. I'm already got my wife picked out. Wife already picked out.
Mark
She's in Orlando right now.
Cam Patterson
I'm just hoes right now. Now she in Georgia. I'm just hoes right now.
Akash Singh
Right.
Cam Patterson
You know what I'm saying, cuz? Life is good. My wife already picked them.
Akash Singh
Really? Who's your, who's your. Whose wifey?
Cam Patterson
Not her name, her name. Alicia. That's a girl I think I'm gonna marry in my life. Oh, really? Throwing a name out there too. That's, that's.
Akash Singh
Have you guys, have you guys connected already? Have you guys met, you hung out or is this like, is this a person that you, you, you know of and you're like, that's gonna be the perfect girl?
Cam Patterson
Nah, we dated. We dated for three years and then we had broke up. I got a new girlfriend, tried it out, just want for me, great girl. Just wasn't. You know what I'm saying? And then we recently started talking again though, and she just. The thing I really fought with her about is when I want to do. When I started doing stand up, nobody, only my pops was like really like on board with. She was like, you know what I'm saying? And she was going to school that time. She's still going to school. But she was like, she made it a point where like I ain't had no car. She was everything. Everything.
Akash Singh
Wow.
Cam Patterson
Like everything. Like if I. And it was never a question on if. It was always like, let's go, let's rock out, let's do it. You feel what I'm saying?
Akash Singh
What's that Kanye line?
Cam Patterson
What it is?
Akash Singh
Once you get on, you leave her ass for a white.
Cam Patterson
Yeah, no, no, Let me tell you something. I tried that. Oh, hey, listen, I just told You. I had a girlfriend. Hell, no. I tried that.
Akash Singh
I did it.
Cam Patterson
I did it exactly. I did that to a tee. I said, yeah, for sure. I'm gonna try that. Yes.
Akash Singh
And then it was a mistake. You're saying it was a mistake?
Cam Patterson
It was just one. It just wasn't for me.
Akash Singh
It wasn't at the right time for.
Cam Patterson
Shut up. Right.
Akash Singh
But you still love Alicia, and there's still a lot of love there. You think that's gonna be wife?
Cam Patterson
I think so, yeah. I think if I really wanted to, like, I was telling him, I said this shit. I was telling myself yesterday, I could really, like, stop fucking hoes if I, If I want. I don't, I don't.
Akash Singh
But if you did want to.
Cam Patterson
If I did right now, and just. I could have a perfect life with just Alicia. Yeah.
Akash Singh
Is there any fear that Alicia might meet somebody?
Mark
Yeah, that's the fear, dude.
Cam Patterson
I feel bad for that.
Akash Singh
Wait, wait, wait. Why? Why?
Cam Patterson
Because he's.
Mark
Because she's not. Cause that guy's not you.
Cam Patterson
Yeah, he's. Yeah, he don't really have. You don't have a job.
Akash Singh
Wow.
Cam Patterson
You know what I'm saying? Like, she, like, that's, that's like my purse.
Akash Singh
Right?
Cam Patterson
You feel me?
Akash Singh
Yeah, I do, but there's always a concern. But you don't have it.
Cam Patterson
But no, I mean, I told all.
Akash Singh
The time, like, go, go do your thing, please.
Cam Patterson
I don't want you just being out waiting on me. And.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
You feel what I'm saying? But also, it's like, I will feel. Would feel bad for that black real.
Akash Singh
You would feel bad for him because he would.
Cam Patterson
It wouldn't be.
Akash Singh
Because she wouldn't have her whole heart in it.
Cam Patterson
Yeah.
Akash Singh
That's what you're saying. Got it. And then if that. Hypothetically, hopefully, it doesn't happen, but if it did, would you be like, yo, don't make that bad decision. Like, let's. Let's make this happen, you and I.
Mark
She gets engaged, you stepping in before.
Cam Patterson
That and being like, yo, is she happy? I wanted to be happy.
Akash Singh
Wow, that's good.
Cam Patterson
I wanted to be. I wanted to be as happy as possible. And I just know right now I can't. I'm just, I'm just outside, you know, saying, like, I'm just. You feel me? But I, I, I do love that girl.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
Yeah, for sure.
Akash Singh
What about Latinas?
Cam Patterson
Yeah.
Akash Singh
Into it.
Cam Patterson
Hey. Hey, brother.
Akash Singh
Who's showing you the most love?
Mark
Oh, that's interesting.
Akash Singh
Oh, black girl, 100%.
Cam Patterson
And white women love. White women love Me, though.
Akash Singh
Really?
Cam Patterson
White people love me.
Akash Singh
Yeah, yeah.
Cam Patterson
White women scare me, though, dog.
Akash Singh
Why?
Cam Patterson
Cuz they. White women. They're dancers.
Akash Singh
Yes, yes, yes.
Cam Patterson
My woman's scary.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
It's like a. Like a thing pain. It happens.
Akash Singh
What happens? What happens?
Mark
We know. Yeah, we know. We've all heard that Patrice joke at the very least.
Cam Patterson
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Akash Singh
Why did you hurt me?
Mark
Why did you do that to me?
Akash Singh
Yeah, but you in Austin, you don't have that many options out there, I would imagine. Isn't it just all white? There's a lot of Mexicans out there, a lot of Latinos.
Cam Patterson
Right outside of officer, but not really.
Akash Singh
Like, what's the area?
Cam Patterson
Round Rock, I think.
Akash Singh
Round Rock.
Cam Patterson
Okay. Well, but, like, when I go on the weekends, like on Sister, it's black people outside of, like, much like a. But it's like, you know, it's like, it's not Houston.
Akash Singh
It's not Dallas.
Cam Patterson
Yeah, that's a lot more diverse. That's where. Diversity.
Mark
Houston's. Yeah, diverse.
Cam Patterson
Diverse as far.
Akash Singh
I like Houston, man.
Cam Patterson
Houston is great.
Mark
It's fantastic.
Akash Singh
Does Houston have, like. Is there. I know they have clubs or whatever, but do they have a comedy scene that would rival any other place? Or is it mostly just kind of.
Cam Patterson
Houston got good comments, though. Yeah, Houston have. Houston has very good comments. Hell yeah.
Mark
Like, but it's not. The scene. Is not the.
Akash Singh
You got to come to Austin for the scene.
Cam Patterson
But also, like, you know, made out of Houston. Like Ali. From Ali.
Akash Singh
Yeah. 100%.
Cam Patterson
I got to shot that in my house.
Akash Singh
Yeah, he's. He's a legend, bro.
Cam Patterson
Oh, my God. I lied.
Akash Singh
He's awesome. He was on there. He I l. He was phenomenal. Great storyteller. If that's another person. If you're into stories. Attention, bro.
Cam Patterson
Yeah, it's a. It's a different level of, like, he's amazing.
Akash Singh
Yeah. It's cool to see him getting a lot of respect.
Cam Patterson
So long.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
You feel what I'm saying? Yeah, that's why. That's why. That's why I love. I love stand up, bro. As long as you keep going.
Mark
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
Yo, it's gonna happen.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
Yeah. If you got it. If you have it, you work hard enough. You know what I'm saying? You keep going, dog, or you just don't have to drive for it. Some just don't want to. You feel what I'm saying?
Akash Singh
Yeah, they want to. They want to say that they're a comedian, but they don't want to do the work. There's a lot of that.
Cam Patterson
So what's the plan? To lock someone down before you leave New York cracks and shit. Yeah. It's quiet. What do you have game? No, I don't like. How do you solicit a woman? I go look at me. Oh yeah.
Mark
Now you're super charismatic off jump. But then how do you close?
Cam Patterson
I'm not a good closer.
Mark
I could see because you're just a lot of energy.
Cam Patterson
I'm a ball energy. She fuck with it. She doing it. She don't. I don't. I'm sure I'm not really good at.
Akash Singh
They throw themselves at you. Do they have to make the first move or will you make the first move?
Cam Patterson
Women make the first. I'm betting women make the first move because I can kind of me go, I. I might come off too aggressive. I'm excited.
Mark
I'm an excitable misread.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
It's like whoa, what's going on?
Mark
Especially around polite women.
Cam Patterson
They're not gonna be comfortable. Yeah, yeah. My game. Pretty ass.
Akash Singh
But like with white girls, are you like, you make sure they really make the first move?
Cam Patterson
They have to.
Akash Singh
They 100% have to. Oh yeah.
Cam Patterson
I don't even really. Yeah, but you got to. But you why a white got me dead in my face and go I want to suck your dick. And I go oh, sorry. Yeah, of course. Yeah. Yeah. But they got to like, they really got to like make the move.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
So do. Yeah.
Mark
You need verbal. You need like a written confirmation of that.
Cam Patterson
Yes. Yeah. Are you, are you good on dms? No. Not even a. Got a really light shoe. That me first dog. You ever send Dick pck n respect.
Akash Singh
You do any of that Shannon Sharp race play?
Cam Patterson
No.
Akash Singh
How much you think she got in that settlement?
Cam Patterson
I think 5.5mil. Yeah.
Akash Singh
That's enough.
Cam Patterson
What she trying to get?
Akash Singh
I mean she asked for 50 and then they settled and then she immediately posted that she was retiring from Only Fans.
Cam Patterson
Wow. Back secured.
Mark
How much was she making on Only Fans before? Cuz there's a possibility you do that to save face if you didn't get much money.
Cam Patterson
Ah.
Mark
To be like oh I I bag now. Cuz if she's making like 4,000amonth then you could just be like this ain't.
Akash Singh
Even real money anyway.
Cam Patterson
But she's probably going to make crazy money now that she's so famous.
Akash Singh
Well that's the tricky thing. Like she is she though, don't you think? I I didn't know who she was in the second. She's, you know, I kind of Forgot.
Cam Patterson
About it until this moment.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
So it's like.
Akash Singh
That's the problem with them settlements. It's a reminder.
Cam Patterson
Oh, that did do that. I can't even picture her face.
Akash Singh
Yeah, in my mind right now, I can picture it.
Mark
Can you picture other parts of her at all?
Cam Patterson
Nope.
Akash Singh
Nope.
Cam Patterson
Only face. Just. Only the.
Akash Singh
Just the face.
Cam Patterson
You pulling her up. She's not even that bad neither, though.
Akash Singh
I know.
Cam Patterson
That's crazy. That's what. That's what really me up.
Akash Singh
Little boy.
Cam Patterson
Come on. Got any titties? Damn. They.
Mark
They really picked a picture of him that is not like. It's just not a good. Good side by side smile. Yeah. It's just not. They knew what they were doing with that. You know what I mean?
Akash Singh
Have you done his show?
Cam Patterson
No. No, I haven't done for sure. God, will. I still love the video. The video of him on Live. That's my Michelle. Hey, that's my Michelle.
Akash Singh
I don't know if he has enough dream drama to go on.
Cam Patterson
Shannon, y' all don't do.
Akash Singh
Yeah, that's good.
Cam Patterson
Thank God.
Akash Singh
Stay out of the drama, man.
Cam Patterson
Try to. Yeah, I try my hardest, bro.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
I just. Yeah. My life. My life is just to stand up in this movie right now, which I. I love. I'm telling y'. All. But I really like even being on here with y'. All. And I can see y' all my whole. So you. You know, you hometown hero and watching y' all stop before I started stand up. So it's like, real. Like, it's. It's so. It's super dope how far I've gotten. And I really, like. I really am thankful. Yeah. To be in the spaces I'm allowed to be in. Because sometimes it don't feel real.
Akash Singh
Of course.
Cam Patterson
Yeah. Like, even. Just Even this is just. Y' all see how geek that was outside? Like, I'm just.
Mark
I feel like moments where it's not real. And this took me 16, 17, 18 years, however long it's been. So for you at four years.
Cam Patterson
Yeah.
Mark
I mean, you earned it. But it's like, that's a crazy feels.
Cam Patterson
It's like a. Like, damn. Like, yeah. What the light. Cuz, like, you. You. You have a dream and you want to chase it, of course. And then. Then you reach and it's like, oh, that's fire. Like, my. My. My dream is coming true. Like, I prayed about and I. Like, so I thought about in my. In my. At night when I was, like, sitting on couches and. And just like running around trying to get the shows, cuz. Like, don't realize, bro. Like when I. When I first started, man, I was so. My brother told me this shit out of the day, man, that made me want to cry. My older brother, I love that. My whole life I told y' all a story. But I learned that my whole life I wanted to be my older brother. I wanted to be him, dog. And the other day he told me, he was like, you don't even understand. Like you. You showed me how to go out this song. Wow. Like watching you go out to the Stand up, dog. Show me some shit where it was like. He said, I realized. He said, I realized when I. At one point, every time he would come back home to Orlando, where he would come to or Orlando. And he would always see me before I looked him up. He always made sure he saw me and like that he said, I realized when I would come home. Like I would have to like. It was one point where like, I only knew I could see you at an open mic. Like if you wasn't. If I wasn't coming to see you do stand up, I knew I wasn't gonna see you.
Akash Singh
Cause you were just working on.
Cam Patterson
I was just so locked in on. Yeah, like so locked. I was. I mean I would, I would do. But I worked in the public. I worked. I begged in Cleveland to make me work, let me work overnight. So I had time to do shows at night. But I would do. I would work at Publix closing.
Akash Singh
So what would the hours be?
Cam Patterson
So when I first got there, cuz I was. I was brand new at public. I work from like, damn, like the mission, like 5 to 11.
Akash Singh
Okay. So at 5 o', clock, can't do any open mics. Nothing.
Cam Patterson
Well, he would cut out on break. What I would do was I would. I. I would take a. A break late as hell. Like 8, 9 o'. Clock. And then I would go do shows and then I would come back. I'll be in my publishing like my. My khakis. And that was the first time ever met Cam.
Akash Singh
Yeah, it's like he literally ran up.
Cam Patterson
And he was like, hey, can I.
Akash Singh
Go on right now?
Cam Patterson
And everyone was like, yeah, sure.
Akash Singh
And I was like, why?
Cam Patterson
He's like, well, I'm on break.
Akash Singh
And I was like, oh, that's hilarious.
Cam Patterson
I go back to work.
Akash Singh
He's like, no, for real, I'm on break. Did the community appreciate where they're like, okay.
Cam Patterson
He's really was like, oh, smile. My dog, John, he was told me. He was like. I asked him I said, like, he going to rule me. He going to be. While I go. And when I asked him, I said, you. Did you see this? Like, when you met me, you saw any of this? And he said, to be honest, no. Like, I thought you just a fast talking little who was gonna stop in a month. Yeah. When you started coming on your. Your lunch breaks, I was like, at least he cares.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
You know what I'm saying? Like, at least he kept our stand up.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
You know what I'm saying?
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
And so it's. But to be saying with y' all and to be able to like.
Akash Singh
So wait, what happened with the schedule? So then you move your schedule schedule to the nights.
Cam Patterson
Oh, yeah. I got to work in the. No more. So I went from four in the morning. Oh. To two in the afternoon. I'll be off, take a nap, go out. Wow.
Akash Singh
Every day, Go home, sleep until like 3, then go move to my cousin.
Cam Patterson
My cousin was standing like the. I mean the trenches too. I ride my bike to work. But then my. My hate this, Kyle. I get drunk and I tell the story like a. Like a million times where I like, I was like, y' all don't get it, bro. I'll ride my bike. And. And we had. But the best part about that. That bike ride going down through Paramore and like, that was I passed three arenas. You got three big arenas in Orlando. Yeah, we got the. We got the Orange. The Sig bowl, which I'll pass first. Right. Then I passed the. We just got a new soccer arena. I'll pass that. And the very last one, I'll pass with the Amway Center. Yeah, I'll pass that. Every single. On my way to work every single time. So I would always pass it. I would stop and I would go. One day I'm. One day. Yeah, one day for sure. One day for sure. I went every time. And I would tell my. My niggas hate hearing that. I get drunk. I'm like, y' all don't even get in there. I want a bike to work. I want a bike to work for this shit, bro. You feel what I'm saying? And it's. It's just. But that was. That's how like, locked in I was.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
On. On. On this shit. You feel what I'm saying? And it's just to be. To be doing just doesn't feel real. Yeah. You feel me? Yeah. Like. But I. Even the shit you posted when you the made me shit made me cry with the. Taking your pops to. To the Garden to The Garden, man. Cry, bro.
Akash Singh
You know, that wasn't actually my real dad. I hired an actor.
Cam Patterson
That really this some. That was.
Akash Singh
That was one of the coolest moments of my whole life.
Cam Patterson
No. Yeah, that made cry, bro.
Akash Singh
But I relate to what you're saying.
Cam Patterson
And the one when you did. The one you did when you with to the. The Toronto.
Akash Singh
Yeah, that was crazy too. Yeah, it's. It's. It's like, it's a huge competitive advantage to be delusional with your dreams.
Cam Patterson
Gotta be.
Akash Singh
And like, it's cool that your brother said that because I think a lot of people maybe we take for granted that we can dream crazy shit. And a lot of people don't. And they need to see it happen to believe that it's real. And they almost need to see it happen to someone close to them, because it's so easy when it happens to someone.
Mark
You need to watch it happen, see.
Akash Singh
It happen, and then it becomes a tangible attainable and. But yeah, I think that's like my biggest competitive advantage my whole life is just like, I. I would believe 100 did. I could eventually do the craziest. And when people, People ask me, did you believe this was going to happen? And I'm like, yeah, like, I recognize it's crazy, but there was never a question in my mind. So, like seeing the Garden or seeing those, those arenas, like, it's such a. It's like a cheat code in a way.
Cam Patterson
But I was jelly. No, I was too much in the cocktail. Me. Like, I walked jolly in the street because we had. We had an open mic that was right next to Dan Wilson, like, right there.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
And this was like when I was just learning how to do stand up, and I was like, no, this is it. I'mma do this. This is what I'mma do. I walked jolly in the street, like, in the middle of the street, and I said, nigga, we gonna set it out one day. And I was. I don't. I pray to God you alive, nigga. But this is. This is gonna happen, like, for real. And I admit that. Then I stand on it. You know what I'm saying? That was like, situation where it was like, yeah, I mean, but you got to be delusional.
Akash Singh
You have to.
Cam Patterson
You have to be delusional because we've.
Akash Singh
Chosen a delusional career.
Cam Patterson
Yeah, this is insane. I'm going. I'm going to talk to people and be funny. Yeah, that's psychopathic. Yeah, that's psychopathic in its own right.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
So you already got to be A little crazy.
Akash Singh
Everybody's already a little delusional to try to do it. So your only way to get some sort of advantage is to be the most delusional.
Cam Patterson
Yes. I'm just be. I'm out. Delusion you? Yeah.
Akash Singh
And I think there's a lot of people. Like, I didn't even know this was going to happen. I don't fucking believe you for a second.
Cam Patterson
I don't.
Akash Singh
Like, there are some people you can't believe this happens. Like, you knew it. We all knew it. And we were delusional. And we chased after it every single day relentlessly.
Cam Patterson
You got to be delusional. You was a bench player on JV.
Akash Singh
And you think you nice at basketball. That is delusion.
Cam Patterson
Right? Real delusion. I'm. I'mma kick your ass. I don't think you understand. Like, but I'm. I'm like a. I'm. I'm. I was a big player on jv. Yes. But I'm a really good basketball player. I just freeze up. I. I will freeze and clutch moments. Yeah.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
And the game is. I'm. I'm freezing, dog. You couldn't even foul a guy with four seconds. I could do that. I pushed the out that's ready to go home. They do want to do that sometime. They got dinner.
Akash Singh
They want Jack with their families. They don't want no overtime for a bunch of kids.
Cam Patterson
It was tired. Tired of this. Not to mention every big moment you've had is cool cuz your family's there. Oh, yeah. Like, your mom is so proud. Oh my God. Every. Every time I've ever seen Cam do it, like he's about to perform on msg. He's going up at the Cellar, whatever.
Akash Singh
All of a sudden I just see.
Cam Patterson
His mom sitting in the back, just so excited. Yeah. My dad go everywhere, but my mom. Cause she didn't believe. She thought I was crazy. But it's the funniest shit. She's on the movie set the other day and she was talking to people and they was like, did you see this? Like he's been here. Did you see this from your son? My mom, I swear to God, she just goes, no. I thought he was going to be a PE teacher. I was cool with that. I was cool with him being a pe. I just wanted him to be. She always, like. I knew he. He didn't work like a regular job because he was energetic and he just excitable. And I knew he couldn't be in a cubicle. So if he could just have something we can just have a lot of space and just move around, get energized. That's what I think would be great for him. And she was like, but this is. Man, my mom, when she told me, she told me she. Because she was so giddy, like just to be like you. And she. I'd be like, son, I'm so proud. My mom talk like a white lady. Like a real one.
Akash Singh
Yeah, yeah.
Cam Patterson
Like, my mom talked like. But I put her on the phone right now. She sound like a real white lady.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
And she was just like, son, I'm just so. Her being that she. She was just so proud to be like. Cuz she didn't. She didn't see none of this.
Akash Singh
Of course none of this.
Cam Patterson
My dad is also delusional. Yeah, but. But also he's like, delusional where? Like he's a psychopath. My dad is. He was like, I tell. I tell this story a lot on. On pause and shit, but it's like a situation where when I first started doing stand up, my mama kicked me out. Cause she was just nervous. I wasn't doing shit.
Akash Singh
Kicked you out, you said of the house.
Cam Patterson
But it wasn't. It was. I was 22, bro. Yeah, I was 22.
Akash Singh
You were an adult living at home.
Cam Patterson
I was an adult living at home. And I looked at my mom, my face like, I'm gonna do standup comedy. And I've only done it one time when I was 19. That was. I've never done it since.
Mark
Now you're 22, you're starting stand up. Does that interfere with you playing JV.
Cam Patterson
Basketball or like that was probably the hardest part.
Akash Singh
How long? I just graduated high school.
Cam Patterson
Come on, please give me some time. But. And she. So I looked at her, felt like, I wanna do stand up. And she was like, that's insane.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
Like, are you fucking. Are you crazy? And then so she was like, well, you gotta. I'm not gonna just let you live off me while you try to chase this insane drink. And so she slept at my dad house. I was at my dad crib for a minute. I was sleeping on my dad couch. And then she called him and she was like. She was just nervous. She was just scared.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
She was like, I don't know what he wants to do with life. I don't know. I'm just very nervous of what's going on. And he said he wanna do standup. I just don't think that's. That's a good idea. And just please, my parents don't get along. But she was like, please, Kenny. She was on speaker. I heard the whole thing. She's like, if you could just please talk him out of it. If you could talk him out of it, please do that. And my dad said, all right, don't worry about it. See, I talked to him, hung up the phone and looked at me dead in my eyes like, if you want to do this shit, go hard at it.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
And I'm here for you. Whatever you need, I'm here. I remember when I first. In the middle of me.
Akash Singh
Yeah. Remember she didn't believe in you. But I. I do.
Cam Patterson
No, hold on. Okay, so the funny, my first time going back home doing Orlando improv, right? I sold it out. And then my mom walks right by my dad. She didn't say hi. And then she was like. She walked right by my dad, look at me and go, this. All this. Cause of me. All this shit. Cause of. I don't even get a thank you or nothing. All this shit. Cause of me. I did this shit. He was. I did the shit.
Akash Singh
No.
Cam Patterson
What? That is not even going to say thank you or nothing.
Akash Singh
All our dads, yo.
Mark
Oh, my God.
Akash Singh
Oh, that's incredible.
Cam Patterson
I did that. My dad. But my dad, the funny Nick would go to shows and stuff and see, like, my. He'll see, like, my name or like a marquis or something. Cuz, like, he lived the dream. Like, he lived the dream with me. So he. Like, I'm telling him all the. He learned a lot about Stand up cuz of me. Like, my dad thinks. My dad thinks, well, Kiltoni is huge, but he don't. If you. Not if you haven't been on Kid Tony, you know who you are, right?
Akash Singh
He's like, that is the only thing that exists in stuff.
Cam Patterson
That's it. That's all it is.
Mark
That's actually awesome.
Cam Patterson
Yeah. He has no idea.
Mark
My dad's a great dad, honestly.
Cam Patterson
You feel me? And so. But he. I told him our story about the comic store and all about the selling shit. My first time being on Marquee at the Comedy Store, he walked up and he seen it. He said, man, that. That's my boy up there. We said, that's amazing. Plus, you know what's better? That shit say Patterson. That's me. Oh, yeah.
Akash Singh
That is hilarious. You gotta do a show once and just put Cam.
Cam Patterson
But my dad. But he's so, like. He's super. Like, he's in. He just coming. When I. When I crashed my car, bro, I was like, yo, Pops. Like, I ain't got no card. I don't know how I get. I. I was just doing the mics every night.
Akash Singh
Yeah.
Cam Patterson
I don't know how many get to these mic spots. He was like, I got. We got a car.
Akash Singh
Yeah, I got a car.
Cam Patterson
That mean you got a car?
Akash Singh
Yeah, like, we.
Cam Patterson
We good. We ran that car to the ground, K. I wasn't good at driving. And then my uncle. My uncle was a cracker. He stole it.
Mark
How you were on so much crack, yo.
Cam Patterson
Oh, it's insane. I know.
Mark
I had such a crack problem.
Cam Patterson
This is where we grew up.
Akash Singh
This is where we went to, like. This is like.
Cam Patterson
The fact that we're even here is just crazy. It's my boggling. Yeah, he passed away to RP uncle hurt. But he. He got hit by a car.
Akash Singh
Oh, no. But he stole your car?
Cam Patterson
Yeah.
Akash Singh
Or your dad's car?
Cam Patterson
My dad car.
Akash Singh
So you guys get the car back and you're still able to do the mics and everything like that?
Cam Patterson
No, no, that's going. That bought that. What, he sold it? Yeah. You know, crackhead don't really sell cars for crack. It's kind of a situation where they, like. It's like a rental. Like, you can hold this car for like a couple hours if you give me this rock. But then the car go missing. Yeah. You feel what I'm saying? So. But it was. It was funny too. Cause he was so, like, fucked up on crack, dog, that my dad. My dad called him. My dad's a very trusting and like, he just loyal guy to his core. This whole situation.
Akash Singh
