Kristin Davis
Hi, I'm Kristin Davis, and I wanna know, are you a Charlotte? So we are back with Molly Price, and we're gonna talk about when she came back to see us on the first season, the first epis, actually, of. And just like that, I think it was the first episode. Yeah. So it was really fun because we got to have her back after all these years with a totally different hair color. Unfortunately, you come to Big's funeral. So for anyone who doesn't know Big Ties, I had a guest on the other day, Molly, who did not know.
Molly Price
Oh, no. Oh, no.
Kristin Davis
I know. I felt like someone who's told a child that there is no Santa Claus.
Molly Price
Oh, no. I bet.
Kristin Davis
Yeah. She was very upset with us. Even though she wasn't necessarily like a Big Stan, she still seemed very upset. Yeah, it was really interesting. I didn't think there was anyone who didn't know, but that's because I live in my own bubble of.
Molly Price
Do you remember shooting that day? Because all of the background workers, they didn't want anybody to know that Big had died. So when they were speaking, when the. When the background workers were in the art studio, which is where we filmed that day, right in Chelsea, they would use her. She. And then when all the background workers were released and they turned around and we were seeing all of the cast speaking about Mr. Big, it was at that point that the script changed and Everybody was referencing Mr. Big. And. But they didn't want anybody to know. So the whole day we had to keep it a secret because the background workers, I mean, not background workers, the background artists, were all under the impression that the person who that they were there to memorialize was a woman. I had a line. My line was, am I the only one that remembers what a he was? And the girl that I had to say it to was sitting next to me at the funeral. And I remember after we finished shooting, she said, why did you ask me if he was an. If the person that died was a woman?
Kristin Davis
Wow.
Molly Price
And I said something like, I didn't write the episode. I don't know. You'd have to ask writers.
Kristin Davis
Good.
Molly Price
Molly, I'm going to craft service. See you later. Bye. Wow.
Katherine Townsend
Wow.
Kristin Davis
I had forgotten all this drama in that day. Yeah, it was a big day. What I do remember is they hadn't gotten the montage together yet of Big that we were supposed to be watching on the wall. So we had puppies and stuff. Do you remember this? Were you there for this part?
Memphis Bleak
Yes.
Molly Price
Yes.
Kristin Davis
There was, like, puppies and kitties and pandas. And at one point, Sarah Jessica never breaks. Like, never, never. Like, not from laughing, not from anything. Do you know what I mean? And she's sitting next to me in the scene, and at one point, they're, you know, they're doing closeup after closeup, and we're watching the puppies and trying to have our feelings. And I think it was just one more angle, and Sarah was just like, ah. Just, like, fell on her knees and put her head in my lap and just started just, like, hysterically laughing, which I had never experienced before in my life. And I did bring that up to her somewhere that we were doing press, and she was like, it was the puppies. The puppies. Cause I had forgotten the crazy. It was like almost like a screensaver montage.
Molly Price
Yes.
Kristin Davis
You know?
Molly Price
Yeah. They were trying to trick everybody, so they didn't know what was going on because it was such a huge storyline, such a huge reveal.
Kristin Davis
Right.
Molly Price
It was. It was beautifully done. I mean, a lot of thought went into keeping that a secret. And, you know, I'm impressed that they did.
Kristin Davis
Me too.
Molly Price
I forgot somebody would have leaked it to some, you know, TMZ would have gotten word or something.
Kristin Davis
That's true. I mean, we have this elaborate thing with our scripts as well, which I'm sure they put you through with the watermark, and you have to, like, sign into the thing to get the.
Molly Price
Yeah.
Kristin Davis
Oh, Lordy, have mercy. It's a lot of drama to go.
Molly Price
Through, but working for the FBI.
Kristin Davis
Yeah, exactly. It is like working for the FBI, yet in the entertainment world. And what else? Was it weird to come back? Was it fun? Was it strange. I mean.
Molly Price
Oh, my God, it was absolutely thrilling because I remember we had the. We had the read through out at what's the beautiful lot out in the Brooklyn Diner yards.
Kristin Davis
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Molly Price
And it was a long day, and we read, and then, you know, there was, like, lunch and just to see everybody and. And to. And to like, you know, I was on the show twice on Sex and the City, so this was the third time that I was in this, you know, zeitgeist. But it just felt like such a huge honor and a privilege to be a part of the launch of, you know, and just like that, because everyone was so excited to see where everybody was going to be, like, that many years later. And I just remember the read through was so funny, and the show was so different, and yet it was so essentially the same at its core. But everybody, you know, had changed so much, and the world had changed, and it was just remarkable to be there and to sit in that room and just listen to everyone, you know, go back into that world again and witness it, you know, because I was more of a witness than a participant. And it was thrilling. And then the day that we shot it was just thrilling because the costumes and it's always so glamorous. They do the best makeup, they do the best hair. Like, you're just your best self when you. When you're on that show.
Kristin Davis
Yeah.
Molly Price
So it was just, you know, it's his. It's television history in terms of your association to that. I mean, you guys really changed the landscape of television. So to be a part of it is just, you know, I've done a lot of things in my life, but no matter where I go, even if I travel, like, out of the country, Susan Sharon is the thing that always. People will recognize me for always. That's so funny.
Kristin Davis
That's so great.
Molly Price
She's the out of everything I've ever done.
Kristin Davis
Wow.
Molly Price
People are like, are you Susan Sharon? And then I'm like, well, not, you know, really. And then they freak out. I mean, you must know, people freak out. Any association, any affiliation to that show.
Kristin Davis
That's lovely.
Molly Price
Like, I was with my son on Mother's Day, and I said, oh, I'm gonna go on this podcast and talk to Kristen Davis about Sex in the City. And he goes, Ma, he's 21, right? He's like, mom. No. And I was like, yeah. He's like, mom, my girlfriend, all their friends. Is it a board game? Is there a board game called Are you a Charlotte?
Kristin Davis
Not that I'm aware of. I mean, I'm not getting paid for it.
Molly Price
All right, well, we should look into this. Have your people.
Kristin Davis
Let's look into it, you guys. Oh, my gosh.
Molly Price
Board game that all of the girls at his college play. And it's a board game where you. All the characters are in it and you figure. You play the board game to figure out which character from Sex and the City.
Kristin Davis
Wow.
Molly Price
You are the most like.
Kristin Davis
I love it. I don't know. I don't know.
Molly Price
You're gonna have to call Mattel and find out if you're missing out on.
Kristin Davis
I will, I will. I think that the original quiz of like, you know, just which character are you? Right.
Molly Price
Okay.
Kristin Davis
Is buzzfeed. I want to say. And then when I was going to do the podcast, I went to work. We were working on this last season, and I asked Michael Patrick about it, and then I asked Sarah Jessica about it because I needed to know that they were going to be supportive, you know, before I said yes, sure. And they were super supportive. And I was maybe three sentences in when he said, I have the title. Are you a Charlotte? You know, his right or mind working, you know, right away.
Molly Price
That's very generous of him.
Kristin Davis
Very generous. Very, very generous. Very funny and generous. When you are ready to take a drive, you think about the direction you are headed and how long it takes you to get there. You rarely think about bumpy roads, motorcyclists weaving through traffic, sluggish trucks, drivers speeding through red lights, and pedestrians crossing at the wrong moment. The truth is, the road can feel unpredictable and sometimes scary. But it doesn't have to be that way. Hyundai's available advanced safety technology is designed to help keep you protected against the many challenges the road throws your way. From forward collision avoidance Assistant to Blind Spot View Monitor, our vehicles offer available features designed to help safeguard you and and your loved ones. I'm Andrea Gunning, host of the podcast Betrayal Police. Lt. Joel Kern used his badge to fool everyone, most of all his wife, Caroline.
Molly Price
He texted, I've ruined our lives.
Katherine Townsend
You're going to want to divorce me.
Kristin Davis
Caroline's husband was living another life behind the scenes. He betrayed his oath to his family and to his community.
Molly Price
She said you left bruises, pulled her.
Kristin Davis
Hair, that type of thing. No. How far would Joel go to cover up what he'd done? You're unable to keep track of all your lies, and quite frankly, I question how many other women may bring forward allegations in the future. This season of Betrayal investigates one officer's decades of deception. Lies that left those closest to him questioning everything they thought they knew. Listen to betrayal on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Podcast Host
Camp Shane, one of America's longest running weight loss camps for kids, promised extraordinary results. Campers who began the summer in heavy bodies were often unrecognizable when they left. In a society obsessed with being thin, it seemed like a miracle solution. But behind Camp Shane's facade of happy, transformed children was a dark underworld of sinister secrets. Kids were being pushed to their physical and emotional limits as the family that owned Shane turned a blind eye.
Kristin Davis
Nothing about that camp was right. It was really actually like a horror movie.
Podcast Host
In this eight episode series, we're unpacking and investigating stories of mistreatment and reexamining the culture of fatphobia that enabled a flag flawed system to continue for so long. You can listen to all episodes of Camp Shame one week early and totally ad free on iheart True Crime plus, so don't wait. Head to Apple podcasts and subscribe today.
Kristin Davis
I have one more question.
Molly Price
Okay.
Kristin Davis
Are you a Charlotte?
Molly Price
No.
Kristin Davis
Tell us what you are.
Molly Price
I would think, hands down, Miranda. Yeah, that's the part that I was supposed to audition for that I didn't go to.
Kristin Davis
Oh, my God. It makes perfect sense.
Molly Price
I was supposed to audition for Miranda and I didn't go to Queens.
Kristin Davis
Wow.
Molly Price
That I would have thought.
Kristin Davis
Nah. I mean, you never know. You never know. You would have been great.
Molly Price
I would have for sure.
Kristin Davis
I love it. Yes. You seem like a Miranda to me as well. Yes.
Molly Price
It was well placed.
Kristin Davis
We love Miranda. Yes. Have you seen that book? We should all be Mirandas.
Molly Price
No.
Kristin Davis
Yeah. It's funny. It's funny. Cause you know how different characters kind of have different heydays or whatever. Like times where people, like, there was a time where Carrie was, you know, everyone loved Carrie. And then there was a time where people wanted to criticize Carrie. And then Miranda was thought of as not being exciting for a while. And then there was a time where everyone was like, no, we should all be Mirandas. Sure. And also Charlotte at one point was thought of as being like the super boring one. And then there was a time when everyone was like, oh, no, Charlotte has had an amazing, you know, trajectory.
Molly Price
Oh, she's like a sage.
Kristin Davis
Thank you. That's so sweet. And I think Samantha maybe has always been celebrated and beloved, I feel like, because of the freedom, you know, the freedom that she encapsulates, you know, and projects into the world for women. But I feel like everyone has had different times where they, you know, rise and fall, which I love, and different times in your life, you'll feel closer to different characters.
Molly Price
Yes. And I. And I would think they are very, essentially probably the most quintessential for archetypes, like archetypes of women.
Kristin Davis
Yeah.
Molly Price
They do represent all the different, you know, chakras of a woman's, you know, the types of women that exist in the world.
Kristin Davis
Yeah.
Molly Price
So it's. It's so well done. It's an orchestra. And it would. Nobody would work without the other one. It's with the synergy. Is really. Is the magic of that show.
Kristin Davis
Definitely. Thank you so much. Thank you.
Molly Price
Thank you.
Kristin Davis
So fun to catch up.
Molly Price
It was an honor to be here. Thank you for being here, for letting me be part of it.
Kristin Davis
Yeah, it's my pleasure. Yay.
Molly Price
All right.
Kristin Davis
All right, we'll see you soon. We'll have to write you back in. Got it. Gotta come back.
Molly Price
From your lips to God's ears. Okay.
Kristin Davis
Okay. Have a great day, Molly. Bye.
Molly Price
Bye.
