Unnamed Speaker 3
Just saw the headline. We've got a clip about this new Instagram feature. Raises privacy concerns. We'll have to do that after Clips of the Week. I want to hear about that.
Unnamed Speaker 1
You know me, I'm big on the gram. Lot of cheesecake, a lot of bikini shots. None of the hardcore stuff.
Unnamed Speaker 3
I gotta get on the gram. We gotta get on the gram. We're on the gram, but I don't know how to post on it because it has way more reach than Twitter.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Yeah, we are on the gram.
Unnamed Speaker 3
I just don't know how to post on it.
Unnamed Speaker 1
I'll. I'll share the info.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Somebody can start ramming away. Oh, I'll grab my ass.
Unnamed Speaker 1
You'll be Graham Bell. Practically. I mean, you'll be. I was trying to think of another Graham Parsons place.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Why tweet out to dozens or hundreds when you can gram out to thousands?
Unnamed Speaker 1
You'll be Grandpa. Are you kidding? You'll be the king of the gram. Anyway. Oh, a lot of good stuff to squeeze into the final hour of the week. It's gonna be a frant race to the finish. But first, let's pause and take a fond look back at the week that was. It's Cow Clips of the Week. This here's your Range Fed USDA Prime Cow Glitz of the Week.
Unnamed Speaker 3
The grand experiment has begun. No messages? Nope, ma'. Am. None.
Unnamed Speaker 1
How about lunch?
Christina Quinn
No lunch either.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Dinner?
Christina Quinn
Busy.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Okay.
Unnamed Speaker 1
How about later at my place?
Unnamed Speaker 3
You're married, Herb.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Oh, yeah. Michelle Obama wished her husband Barack, a happy 64th birthday and said, he's, quote, the coolest guy I know. Right back at you. He said, a landmark moment for Major League Baseball.
Unnamed Speaker 3
For the first time in league history.
Unnamed Speaker 1
There will be a woman umpire for.
Unnamed Speaker 3

Christina Quinn
They understand that we have Atemu Hitler in the White House right now and.
Unnamed Speaker 3
That'S just a way of trying to divert attention to something that's total bull.
Unnamed Speaker 1
I'm told the Trump Putin summit is.
Joe Getty
Tentatively scheduled for the end of next week.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Yeah, people here are highly skeptical that.
Unnamed Speaker 5
Anything tangible is really going to come out of this.
Unnamed Speaker 4

Of State Hillary Clinton are facing congressional subpoenas. They face a possibility of facing bribery charges, which is a second degree felony in the state of Texas. We will not let power go unchecked.
Unnamed Speaker 1
We have the opportunity to de facto end the Trump presidency.
Christina Quinn
Not only are we gonna punch back.
Unnamed Speaker 1
But we about to beat you down.
Unnamed Speaker 3
So I'd say to the Republicans, you're fighting fire with fire. That's okay. I want to thank Tim Cook. He's a great, great man. A visionary, a businessman. Just about every quality he can have other than athleticism, I don't know. Oh, look out.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Something just came to the floor. Got an object that just flew. It look like that hit a player too.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Clips of the week. Wait a second, I hadn't heard that. So when Tim Cook shows up at the White House, gives Donald Trump a big chunk of gold, like a cheap looking trophy or something like that, in.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Return for better tariff rates.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Much better tariff rates.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Wait a minute.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Yeah, it's a little troubling. Then Trump had to throw in a you're a gay dude kind of shot at the end. Is that what that was?
Unnamed Speaker 1
I don't necessarily. It's funny, I didn't go there, but you're not necessarily wrong.
Unnamed Speaker 3
I guess. We have a couple of clips of this. Let's hear a little more.
Unnamed Speaker 1
This box was made here in the U.S. california. And this glass comes off the horning.
Unnamed Speaker 3
One arm.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Engraved for President Trump. It's a unique unit of one. It was designed by a US Marine Corps corporal that works at Apple.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Now he's done well, designed it for you.
Unnamed Speaker 1
And the base comes from Utah and.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Is 24 karat gold.
Jack Armstrong
Wow.
Unnamed Speaker 3
It's actually gold. The bent.
Unnamed Speaker 1
No, I'm wearing expensive headphones and that was hard to understand, folks.
Unnamed Speaker 3
I apologize. Yeah, yeah. I barely could either, but. So that's Tim Cook giving him an actual 24 karat gold. Chunk of, well, chunk of gold in return for a break on the tariffs. Is that what just happened there? But then. So when Trump says, is this next clip worth playing? Because that one's really hard to understand. Okay, go ahead. I want to thank Tim Cook. He's a great, great man, A visionary, a businessman. Just about every quality he can have other than athleticism. I don't know. I'm looking at him. I'm not. I'm not 100% sure about you a good athlet. I'll bet you're pretty good.
Unnamed Speaker 1
I think he's good at everything.
Unnamed Speaker 3
But I want to thank you very much, Tim. Congratulations.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Thank you all very much. Thank you, Mr. President. I'm the CEO of the most valuable company on earth. The hell does it matter? Seriously? I can't paint either. In case you're curious, I'm not a very good painter.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Oh, boy. We live in weird times, man.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Trump's a strange dude.
Unnamed Speaker 3
That is. That is. I'm. I learned about tariffs in the last six months from listening to podcasts. I'd never thought about a tariff in my entire life, but one of the knocks on tariffs by conservatives historically is that it just. It just begs for corruption and special carve outs for people that get favors for a variety of reasons.
Unnamed Speaker 1
It grows and enriches the swamp. In short, it's like the best thing you could do for the swamp because there's so much money at stake. Zillions of dollars have flown into Washington D.C. to K Street, to the lobbyists.
Unnamed Speaker 3
And really only the big guys can, you know, bribe their way to better tariff rates. The mom and pop has no shot at that.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Right? Exactly. Yeah. Getting their inputs, for instance, that they get from over the border, exempted. Yeah, it's. It's terrible. It's crony capitalism at its worst. That's one of the reasons I'm against it. But it so discourages me that Trump doing the crazy stuff gets in the way of doing the good stuff.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Yeah, we've got to isolate that. The grand experiment has begun. For every time we talk about tariffs, because that is true, the grand experiment has begun. Grand. How this all turns out, I do not know. Neither do you. Don't claim you.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Quick, let's take a shot at a lefty. This is a reporter asking Nancy Pelosi about gender affirming care, number 80.
Joe Getty
Michael, how is your office responding to the pauses in gender affirming care here in California.
Unnamed Speaker 4
Well, that is something that I'm working for at the national level. And we have. How can I say, are hoping that we can have gender affirming here for our.
Unnamed Speaker 3
For our trans kids.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Okay.
Unnamed Speaker 3
She just didn't want to step in that story.
Unnamed Speaker 1
She's old as hell.
Unnamed Speaker 3
She is old as hell. But I think she realizes this is not a winner. This is not a winner of a story.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Yeah.
Unnamed Speaker 3
How do I not anger the crazies while not also angering the vast majority of people, including Democrats, who do not agree with the craziest.
Unnamed Speaker 1
I have only a hint of it, doing what we do for a living, but the addictive quality of being part of the national conversation. Slash, in Nancy's case, the power structure. Very close to the center of the power structure of the massive federal government. Obviously, people cannot give that up.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Up.
Unnamed Speaker 1
I'm a wealthy 77 year old and I'm running for another term. The senator, the House. Why?
Unnamed Speaker 3
I don't know. I think I get it. I. I will. I will really hate it when I no longer feel like I have any role in the national conversation. Even though our role is pretty small as it is.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Yeah.
Unnamed Speaker 3
I will not like it when I don't have a voice for that.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Yeah, I know.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Know.
Unnamed Speaker 1
I know. We try to be your voice friends. We actually do. Yeah. For some reason, I apologize for my slightly jivey. I'm putting you on tone of voice. It was misplaced. It was inappropriate. It was disgusting. It was regrettable.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Okay, I'm gonna do something serious here right before the commercials. That's the best place to put the super serious stuff. So you can take a break and cleanse the palate before we come back. Maybe we'll talk about the Instagram thing when we come back. But. But Fox is running on like a loop, practically. That horrible beatdown that happened in Cincinnati, is that where it happened?
Unnamed Speaker 1
Yeah.
Unnamed Speaker 3
And I had seen the woman get knocked out. I hadn't seen the dude and.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Oh, really?
Unnamed Speaker 3
I hadn't seen that. I don't. I don't watch this stuff. I feel like I can fully understand the story without. But they're just running over and over again and I can't decide, is this a good thing or a bad thing? Honestly, is it a good thing to point out, hey, look, this sort of thing happens when the races are reversed and nobody covers it, or is it a bad thing that it's making me, like, really feel like society is completely breaking down? It's broken down. My kids are going on out into this world. Holy crap.
Unnamed Speaker 1
How Do I?
Unnamed Speaker 3
I mean, so I, you know, making me paranoid.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Well, I would. It's funny because those were not like two opposing choices. I, I would. You could certainly consider the racial angle of it and the media angle of it. That's legitimate. I've talked about it before. But you could absolutely make the case that, look, this is the sort of thing that happens in blue cities when you turn known criminals loose again and again with the. The unspoken agreement that we will just keep turning you loose until you kill somebody or you hurt them really bad on camera.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Okay. There's that angle of it, which is definitely worth reporting. And then there's just the racial angle of it that. Just the who's doing the beating and who's getting beaten. Has the. Is the mainstream news covered this at all? No, not at all.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Like, I haven't seen it. I have not seen it once. And look, I'm not omnipresent. I may have missed it, but speaking for myself as a voracious consumer of.
Unnamed Speaker 3
The news, if you're omnipresent, wouldn't that be cool?
Unnamed Speaker 1
For who?
Unnamed Speaker 2
For me.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Hell, my, my wife and I love each other. She doesn't want me omnipresent.
Unnamed Speaker 3
That's true. And I, you know, if I'm having some sort of private moment, I don't need you there.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Sorry, that's. That's my business partner. He's omnipresent.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Yeah, he's got, you know, there's ups or downs. The downside is he's omnipresent.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Can you excuse us for like, say.
Unnamed Speaker 3
I can't.
Unnamed Speaker 1
I'm omnipresent. No, he's omnipresent. No, I can't leave. I'm sorry. I'd like to, but no.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Oh my God. Instagram's new rules. Should we be afraid? Among other things. On the way.
Unnamed Speaker 4

We got this text on the text line. My favorite place to get text Let Jack bring back fry. Yay. I understand some listeners didn't like it, but it was the irony that gave me joy every Friday. A subtle jab at those who actually say that kind of nonsense and mean it. That's the problem with me saying, hey, it's Friday. Is that if you took it seriously, I look like a db. It's kind of like my mocking the jeans commercial thing I did on the Twitter feed in the jeans, which I thought was obviously mockery, but people thought it was a. Some people thought it was a serious attempt to look sexy, which is hilarious.
Unnamed Speaker 1
That's funny. I was just thinking the other day about when a big national radio show at the time, they're now defunct and unemployed, but they got a hold of audio of our show in which I think I was mockingly portraying a particular attitude, and they took it seriously and we're like, these guys are a hole. Blah blah blah. No, you're missing the joke there. But anyway, bring back Friday if you must. It's stupid and jivey and childish and annoying. But ironically clever.
Unnamed Speaker 3
New rules with Instagram let's hear it. The huge update to the Instagram app. The company unveiling a new feature that lets you share your real time location with friends on a map. You can see it in the direct message part of the app when someone slides into your dms. Some critics of the move are raising.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Privacy concerns about tracking, but Instagram's parent.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Company Meta, says that sharing your location.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Is optional and that the feature is off unless you opt in.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Well, okay, then it's fine if it's optional. It's fine if you want to share your location with friends. I know people who do this. Like, I don't. I don't have a social life, but back when I did, if me and all my friends could have like looked at Our phone and seen where everybody was in town at any given time that have been cool especially do it.
Unnamed Speaker 1
My wife and I do it. Our daughter shares her location with us and a number of her friends for safety reasons. I think it's perfectly reasonable.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Yeah, I think it's just the social stuff. Like you're on a Friday. Oh, look, they're over. They're right across the street at that bar. Let's walk over there. Be awesome. Yes. Katie.
Unnamed Speaker 1
No, it's definitely Joe's. Nailed it. It's a huge safety thing as well among women.
Unnamed Speaker 3
That was an attempt to portray the feature as something nefarious. The fact that you can opt in or out is, you know, nothing to worry about.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Zuckerberg is Satan and spreading electro addiction to our children, which will ruin their souls. But this one seems fine to me.
Unnamed Speaker 3
So I'm not really on Instagram or Facebook. I use them, but I'm not really on there. And I noticed on the Facebook when I'm on there, it feeds me people I know sometimes and whenever I click on their account, like 90% of the time they haven't posted in a decade. Made. It's so interesting to me that so many people have just given up on Facebook. I don't know, does it just not have the. The. It's.
Unnamed Speaker 1
The younger generation thinks it's for. For old people.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Right. But Instagram is. All the young people are on Instagram.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Right. Instagram is popular and also because it offers the cross platform posting as well. So you can put a picture on Instagram and it'll pop up.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Facebook, Twitter.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Our last Instagram post was December 10th of last year.
Unnamed Speaker 3
I would post weekly or if not daily if I knew how, but I don't know how.
Unnamed Speaker 1

Well, that's nice. Oh, the sp.

Unnamed Speaker 3

Unnamed Speaker 1
Oh, millions of them. I don't. I don't.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Well, we can't have many if we never post.
Unnamed Speaker 1

Actually a big part of the show. That is right. Her job was to watch Fox News. She would watch Fox News and tell me what was going on during the day. You know when you're growing up, you don't want your friends to meet your parents. You're always embarrassed about it. I brought friends over and they loved her. And then there were times when I would Come home and my friends would already be there. Yes. They'd be in the back in the backyard with my mom. I had that too.

Yes.

Cool. Greg Gutfeld has got a very popular late night show on Jimmy Fallon last night.

That was fun to see those two coming together. I. I get the idea. They're both pretty decent guys. Gutfeld is mean as hell. Fallon doesn't seem to be, but funny. So a couple of things. Oh, that's one. I had one and it flitted out of my mind. Oh, that's right. Michael, play US Clip number 11, would you? This is rotund country sensation Jelly Roll talking to the Tennessee Titans before their road trip today.
Unnamed Speaker 3
I want to talk to y' all about road life. Buses, planes, trains, automobiles, walking. You name it, we've done it. We've slept in vans. And I learned early that's where the magic was. See what was happening on that road between me and the boys started translating to the stage. Finding a partner, finding a friend, building relationship. That stuff will transfer to the field. That's something else I learned. I started becoming a better songwriter when I started becoming a better husband. I started becoming a better performer when I started becoming a better human. Think about them relationships outside of here, man. That's good stuff.
Unnamed Speaker 1
And take off your damn headphones. Ah. I wonder if that was the subtext.
Unnamed Speaker 3
You're not going to be able to do that.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Talk to each other. You know what? That as a musician, the first part was absolutely rings true through Hundred percent.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Yeah, yeah.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Connection you have with people you're close with.
Unnamed Speaker 3
I've talked to my sons about that, particularly my oldest, who will start working here pretty soon. About you work at some place where there's a whole bunch of other people your age and everything like that. You have the best freaking time. Even if the job sucks. You get to know them and you become friends and you hang out afterwards and stuff. It's awesome.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Yeah, yeah. Don't close yourself off to that kids.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Yeah.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Unless they Tennessee Titans.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Unless they'll all get whatever job he's gonna get. And they all have ear pods in and they never talk to each other. Like I keep talking about going to the gym. I've been going to the gym. Like I go every single day for months now. I've never said a word to anybody. Nobody said a word to me. Everybody has an earbud in.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Yeah, we got an email after you said that and somebody said and I do the same thing too now anyway. But they said yeah, I don't and there are other guys who don't and we're friends now. I may try that once or twice. Yeah. Oh, interesting. Oh, part of the reason I wanted to hear that and that was a much more impressive and, and, and insightful clip than I expected.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Oh no, then you don't know him. I, I, his, his act is everybody loves his motivational stuff. Just loves about his experience of being in jail and the various things he's overcome in his life. He's like hugely popular for that. That.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Yeah, I thought it would be more of a rah rah thing. But I'm impressed. That's great stuff and I, I'm inspired to go look into more of it. Part of the reason I was attracted to that he was talking to professional the NFL team, the Tennessee Titans is weasel communist jackass. David Muir's newscast last night. Weasel communist jackass did end with a little featurette about a make a wish kid. Kid who dreamed of being the quarterback for his beloved Carolina Panthers and the day they had and I'm getting choked up even talking about it and the way the Panthers, God bless them, rolled out the red carpet and did it right and custom did him a helmet and he, he actually ran a play during their big. In front of the, the stadium fans under the lights inner squad scrimmage. The big scrimmage before the preseason begins. And it was, it was, it was beautiful. Cool. It was beautiful. Yeah. Yeah. Needs to be more of that, not less. Anyway, moving along.
Unnamed Speaker 3
How touching that story was. You still called the host of the show a weasel communist jackass. Okay.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Oh yeah. I stand by those words. Yes indeed. If he was a 12 year old boy, I would not. He's a grown ass man. Ought to quit being such a cwj. So I, I thought I would mention that. Do I even want to mention this? I don't know, it's kind of negative. Ish. I'd rather, I'd rather build Jack build.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Than tear down man's triumphs, not his failures.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Exactly. All right, here's a story for you and it's from the Miami New Times. As in Miami, Florida, where you were just vacationing recently till it was so freaking hot in the summertime you fled for your life. But it went viral. This visitor who showed up to the La Quinta Inn there at Miami and checked in and there wasn't a plucky youngster or surly oldster or half asleep, ne' er do. Well, behind the counter there was a kiosk with some third worlder on the video screen to check them in.
Jack Armstrong
Wow.
Unnamed Speaker 1
And a credit card slot and the rest of it.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Is that the future? So it makes me so angry when I try to call a hotel and you can't get the actual place you're going to. You can just get their 1-800-number and talk to somebody, you know, and wherever. It drives me nuts. No, I want to talk to somebody there, like actually there at the hotel and ask them is, does the pool work and what time does it close or whatever. My question is. So now we're going to take it the next step. There'll be one really busy person in the Caribbean checking people into Super Eights all across the country.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Right, right. Couple of good points. First of all, the laziest sort of journalism. Repeating a single online comment. Damn, that's wild. Gotta keep it local fam, one user wrote.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Good luck with that.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Beyond ridiculous, wrote another. Then this point, this is a pretty good one. The reason for a desk is like having a doorman, an apartment building. It's security. I wouldn't feel safe in a hotel with staff this lean. There's no authority. It's like a bus stop. Well, never mind authority. There isn't even an observer.
Unnamed Speaker 3
I guarantee there'd just be lots of cameras and I'll just keep an eye on you that way.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Being watched by whom?
Unnamed Speaker 3
I don't know. If something happens, then they'll go back to the camera, but it's not going to help you in the moment.
Unnamed Speaker 1
So speaking of labor issues, I thought this was interesting and we talked about this a couple of times, the fact that the United Auto Workers Union is now mostly not auto workers at all. In fact, the biggest, fastest growing growing group is academics, a hodgepodge of white collar defense attorneys, librarians, and roughly 100,000 people who work in higher education.
Unnamed Speaker 3
I remember we talked about this when the autoworker strike was going on and it was news to me, but I don't remember. How do you end up part of the auto workers union? As a librarian, you just.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Well, the UAW is desperate for to organize any group, but. So they needed people in their dues, but.
Unnamed Speaker 3
So if I agree with their politics and pay their dues, I can be a member of the auto workers union?
Unnamed Speaker 1
Yeah, essentially. I mean, if you've got like a dozen cucumber picklers working in eastern Washington with a labor Gripe and Sean McFain is that his name? Sean Fain? If he gets word of it, he's going to say, hey, you ought to organize and come under the UAW umbrella, umbrella as a, you know, cucumber pickler. And it worked for a while because they were desperate for people that the smallest percentage of Americans are in unions. That has been true in a century or whatever it is, but, but now there is a growing chasm between the union's traditional auto workers who are any know, any auto workers, or people who might as well be auto workers. They are moving quickly toward the political right. They are, generally speaking, patriotic Americans. They're realists. They value family, they like to have a couple of beers on the weekend, they go to hockey games. You know, you get the idea. But the union's being taken over by a bunch of woke 20 something academics and pushing the union hard to the left. In fact, recent advocacy by the UAW includes campaign ads supporting Mamdani the Commie in New York, advocating for the release of pro Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil, and calling for a ceasefire and an end to the siege of Gaza. And the actual uaw. UAW guys are like, what the hell is this? What are you doing in my name? It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. God, I'd say, yeah, that's an unholy and unnatural marriage. Marriage. And then finally, this is particularly.
Unnamed Speaker 3
And.
Unnamed Speaker 1
This is kind of a criticism of Trump, I guess. But it's funny, there are some topics that I think Trump doesn't care about, like constitutional limits or the institutions or traditions, because he just doesn't care. There are other times, there are other areas that I think, you know, he gets it, but he's going to get elected because you gotta get elected first. And he'll figure out how to hash it out once he gets in office. To wit, the no tax on overtime policy, which combined with the no tax on tips policy is extremely complicated. It has added layers upon layers to the already bizarre tax code when we ought to be going in the other direction. But he felt like he had to win the election, so he promised no tax on overtime. But the law is full of fine print and potential confusion over who's eligible for the new savings. Under the law, the only overtime compensation that qualifies is the extra wages, the half of time and a half, for instance, required under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act. That definition excludes overtime paid to airline employees, railroad workers and other transportation workers covered by separate overtime loans. It does not include some payments under agreements outside the fulsaw law or workers specifically exempted from folsa. And it excludes payments required under state laws like California's, where overtime starts after eight hours daily instead of 40 hours weekly. The upshot? The break will cut taxes by thousands of dollars for many overtime workers, but some might not necessarily get the tax break. And figuring out who qualifies will be tricky and expensive because you probably have to hire an accountant to figure it out. Or a tax attorney.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Which you might do if you're a person that regularly gets overtime. But on tips? Probably not. You're probably not a person that's hiring someone to do your taxes right? Probably doing a 1040 easy. And now you got to get an accountant to deal with your how do I get my the whole tips thing?
Unnamed Speaker 1
Well, and not to belabor the point, but 30 more seconds on this. The overtime pay deduction is capped at 12,500 for individuals and for 25,000 for married couples. That could lower some households tax bills by $6,000 and it's available whether or not taxpayers itemize deductions. The break starts shrinking on income Once income reaches $150,000 for individual blah blah blah. And because it is an income tax deduction, workers still owe payroll taxes for Social Security and Medicare on overtime pay. I freaking caramba. Flat tax now or the fair tax? One or the other. Either way, just get it done. No more complexity to the tax code.
Unnamed Speaker 3
We will finish strong next Armstrong and.

Oh my gosh. I just saw something that is shocking. It turns out that in a lot of companies that have decided to have return to work policies after Covid, some employees just show up long enough to be seen and then leave. And it's shocking to find out. I would have never guessed that that would occur. About to play a clip. Let me set the scene for you. There's a patient in a doctor's office sitting on the butcher's block paper and a doctor talking to that patient.
Unnamed Speaker 1
An unfortunate metaphor, right?
Unnamed Speaker 3
And then the doctor talking to the person sitting there.
Unnamed Speaker 1
So how much do you drink?
Jack Armstrong
I'd say I'm good for about 10 or 12.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Okay, 10 or 12 a week, that's not bad.
Jack Armstrong
But weeks?
Unnamed Speaker 1
Well, you drink 10 or 12 beers a day.
Unnamed Speaker 3
You count beers too, so I thought that was pretty funny. Then he starts counting his drinks with his fingers, like 1, 2, 3. He said, I'd be faster to do this than he does by fives. 5, 10. Anyway, on the heels of me talking yesterday about how I haven't had a drink in 19 years and one day, Joe Rogan announced the other day on his show that he quit drinking and he hasn't had a drink in two months. And he's. He. He says he's not an alcoholic, but he just decided what good is this doing doing me? He just said it's stupid to continue doing this. I feel horrible afterwards. It costs a lot of money. I stay up later than I want to. I just decided this is stupid so I'm not going to do it anymore ever again. He said, I Don't know if he'll stick with it or not, but I thought that was interesting.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Yeah. Yeah. Well, I get it. I get. Even if you're not quote, unquote, an alcoholic, it can become a habit.
Unnamed Speaker 3
And just the general. There's. I don't know if the amount of booze consumption has. Has gone down or not. I haven't seen the numbers on that, but I.
Unnamed Speaker 1
It has definitely.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Has it gone down since the pen? Is it just since the pandemic or is it lower than it was pre pandemic? Because I think. Weren't most people who drink drinking more during the pandemic? Pandemic.
Unnamed Speaker 1
I had heard that. Yeah. But the younger generations are drinking significantly less.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Are they smoking or taking fentanyl or whatever they're doing?
Unnamed Speaker 1
Oh, maybe. I don't know. They're definitely smoking more pot than previous generations.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Why is that?
Unnamed Speaker 1
It's available.
Unnamed Speaker 3
No, no, no. Why are they drinking less?
Unnamed Speaker 1
I don't know. That's an excellent question. And we don't have nearly the time to even scratch the surface.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Yeah, I don't know if anybody knows.
Jack Armstrong
Hey, kids, it's that time again.
Unnamed Speaker 1
With Armstrong and Getty.
Unnamed Speaker 3
I thought that was funny to. Oh, we're counting beers too.
Unnamed Speaker 1
So it's commonly thought by some of my favorite thinkers that part of it is the younger generations have desperate need not to lose any control.
Unnamed Speaker 3
No.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Is that good or bad? Maybe have not lived adventurous lives.
Unnamed Speaker 2
Lives.
Unnamed Speaker 1
And they're afraid.
Unnamed Speaker 3
I'll be darned. Here's your host for final thoughts, Joe Getty.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Let's get a final thought from everybody on the crew, beginning with our technical director, Michael. Hit it, Michael. My favorite clip of the day was Trump pointing out to Tim Cook. Very smart guy, but he's not athletic. I just, I like the trend of, you know, you invite the Ford CEO and say he's very smart but not good at sit ups and probably could floss more. Wow, brown teeth. Who? Katie Green has a final thought. Katie, my favorite clip of the day was the grand experiment. I think I'm gonna start talking like that.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Right.
Unnamed Speaker 1
You gotta roll your R's though.
Unnamed Speaker 3
The grand experiment has begun. Experiment has begun.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Jack, a final thought for us, I.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Would say, though I prefer people who drink or did drink, people that have never drank. I still don't quite on with very often.
Unnamed Speaker 1
How interesting.
Unnamed Speaker 3
Yeah, my final thought.
Unnamed Speaker 1
Earlier in the show, I did a big thing on the Scopes monkey trial. Grab it via podcast if you want. One thing we didn't have time to get to is that the eugenics that the progressives of the time in the 1920s were so into directly influenced the Nazis in Germany and in fact some of the US progressive leaders got awards from the Nazi uniform universities before the war proper began.
