This is an I heart podcast, sir. This is a hospital waiting room. It's one more thing. Armstrong and Getty.
Jack
We had a Michelangelo led podcast, wrote in a week, and now a Katie led podcast.
Michael
And I really do enjoy the long running joke, sir. This is Wendy's drive through. Always amusing. I appreciate you resetting it.
Jack
We have breaking Obama's divorce news.
Michael
Oh, breaking news on the podcast.
Jack
That's.
Michael
That's antithetical to the idea of this podcast.
Jack
Jack. Anathema. Michelle Obama just said in a sit down interview between the two of them, there hasn't been one moment in our marriage where I've thought about quitting on my man. Michelle Obama said, oh, wow.
Michael
Okay.
Jack
I don't know where the divorce rumors came from. I actually like that she came out whenever that was a month or so ago and said there were times when the kids were younger and they were in the White House, that she did not enjoy him very much. I thought more people should say that out loud.
Michael
Oh, yeah.
Jack
Rough patch.
Michael
Sure. Yeah.
Katie
Well, it's real.
Jack
Well, of course it is. More people should say that out loud, though, so that there aren't some people that have unrealistic expectations for how pleasant things should be always.
Katie
Right.
Jack
Anywho. What do you got, Katie?
Katie
Oh, dude. So yesterday was a little bit of an S storm, and Drew went through some stuff, ended up in the emergency room. He's totally fine, everything's good. But. So I went with him. And I was sitting in the waiting area, and it was an active waiting room. I mean, there was a guy who. Who walked by and he had blood coming out of his head.
Jack
There was another blood coming out of his head.
Katie
He. I mean, he had his ear bandaged and he was bleeding down his face. Wow. Another chick was puking into one of those hospital bags. The guy next to me was not well. I don't. I don't know what was going on with him, but I'm suspecting some liver issues because he was a different color. Like, I mean, it was.
Michael
Oh, boy.
Katie
There was a lot going on.
Jack
When you show up to the er, it is a. It is.
Michael
It's a trip to the human zoo.
Jack
Well, you never have any idea. I mean, the most recent time I went to the E.R. just got luck. Time of day, day, whatever. When I went because I had too much coffee. Oh, my God. Most embarrassing ER trip ever. I was there for three hours. There was like, nobody there except one of our babysitters. And that was uncomfortable for both of us. Why are you here? Why are you here? But there was, like, nobody there. But I've gone to the ER before, where it's like what you just described. It's. It's just a sea of unfortunate circumstances.
Michael
Yeah. Yeah. The puking thing. That reminds me, I used to use this. Used to give this as a handy hint if you're in the emergency room. Because it worked for me. At one point as a kid, I. I got too many concussions, but at one point, I was in the emergency room. Yeah, I know. And it. And. And. And it was like, yeah, okay, great. Fill out the paperwork.
Katie
All right.
Michael
Now sit down. We'll let you know when we're ready for you. Some time went by, and I went into shock, and I started to puke everywhere. And it was like, that guy. That's who we're helping get pukey McPuker. That was a good plan to have that.
Katie
Good call. Yeah, good.
Michael
Evidently, they've got bags now.
Katie
Yeah, they've got these bags that have a plastic hole or a plastic, like, ring. So you don't get it anywhere. So I don't.
Michael
The ring sort of innovation that America is known for. That's right.
Jack
But.
Katie
So I'm sitting there, and I'm on my phone, and I'm. I noticed this guy, and he's probably, I'd say, early 60s, long, rugged beard, looks. You know, he looks like a hardened older guy. Walks by, and he walks by again, and then he walks by a third time, and then the fourth time, he stops and he looks up at the television, which at this time is showing the hospital rules in Spanish. So I'm pretty sure he's not obtaining any info from what's going on on the screen. And he finally just comes and sits down in the chair directly next to me.
Jack
Oh, boy.
Michael
Oh, boy.
Katie
And I'm.
Jack
I'm scrolling down next to the cute blonde.
Katie
Oh. And I. In my head, I'm looking at my phone going, come on, dude, this is.
Jack
Not the place to sit next to the cute blonde and start a conversation.
Katie
And sure enough, man, they sure make us wait in here forever, don't they? And I'm all, yeah, yeah, they do. So, man, you know, I just. I just moved here, and I'm taking care of my mom and blah, blah, blah. And I'm like, going, good God, sir. Like I said, sir, this is a waiting room in a hospital. I don't. And he's talking kind of loud, so everybody's kind of looking at us. And I'm. At this point, I'm giving every female nurse I can the Women's like, help eyes. Like, could you like maybe.
Jack
Man, some dudes shoot their shot everywhere. Everywhere. It doesn't matter. Emergency room.
Katie
So the last, the last part of it, he goes, yeah, you know, so, so basically what I'm getting as I, I just, I would like to show you a good time, you know, and.
Jack
My mom, he actually went that far.
Katie
He said, I would like to show you. And also I was sitting there kind of like this, like trying to blatantly flash my wedding ring, hoping maybe, you know, now that didn't work.
Jack
Nothing to him.
Katie
Zero.
Jack
What is it with these dudes? Where do they come from?
Katie
I don't know.
Michael
But you got the generation that is terrified or uninterested in contacting a woman in any way, in any setting. And then you've got that guy. Can we go for something in between.
Katie
Humanity, some middle ground.
Jack
Some of it is generational, but some of it is just the kind of guy. And it's got to be disappointing to women that you've got like now 80% of the population won't approach you at all. But then you still got that 5% of weirdos that are going to approach you even if you got a wedding ring on and you're sitting in the er.
Katie
I felt like I was, I was living in a dream. But so the, the end of it, he goes, yeah, I'd like to show you a good time. And you know, my mom's house, it has a ranch and I've got a horse. She's not a pretty little pony anymore that you could ride, but I've got a horse.
Jack
Oh, boy.
Katie
And thank God, at that moment, Drew came out.
Drew
Katie, I'm sorry, I think you're being narrow minded.
Jack
Oh, shut up. Michael, meet him for coffee once.
Michael
See my.
Katie
Okay, you guys are useless.
Jack
That is something. So you got the wedding ring, you've got the setting of the emergency room, which is ridiculous. Chick puke.
Katie
Chick puking. Six feet to my right.
Jack
Well, and you mentioned he's in his early 60s, so quite the age gap. So I'm going to hit on somebody decades younger than me who's married at the er.
Michael
Woman pukes within arm's reach.
Katie
Yes.
Michael
I mean, that's an optimist. You gotta salute him for that or he's an insane person.
Jack
Maybe try bumble instead of this.
Katie
Have you heard of Tinder?
Michael
Wow.
Jack
Wow.
Katie
I was just, you know, and he was a nice enough guy, you know, if I had met him, let's say we were at the bar and he wanted to talk for me a little while. Undivided attention. Absolutely. But, dude, emergency room, waiting room. No.
Michael
Wow. Yeah. That's just amazing.
Jack
I could show you a good time. You need a better time than this, being at the emergency room, like we.
Michael
Often say when we run into various sorts of people. I want to interview him at length.
Jack
Know more about all the other aspects of his life, which have to also be interesting, right?
Katie
Is your last attempt at a funeral home?
Jack
I was about to say, is there a limit for you while the body's still warm? No.
Michael
At an accident scene. Thank God you survived. Ma'. Am. Say, would you like to while she's giving birth?
Jack
Would that be too much?
Katie
I see your car's a little messed up. I have a horse you can ride.
Jack
The baby's coming out. Would you still hit on that woman?
Michael
Now, clearly you were with somebody like, I don't know, 40 weeks ago. But are you single now?
Jack
I like kids.
Michael
Kid is not a deal breaker for me. Just thought I'd let you know. Oh, I can see the head. Anyway, does Tuesday work?
Drew
I met my wife at an accident scene. She was on the stretcher. She had hit her head, and I asked her out and she said yes. And here we are, married today. You find love anywhere? I kid. Well, I guess that's it.

This is an iHeart podcast.
Armstrong & Getty On Demand: "Sir, This is a Hospital Waiting Room!"
Release Date: July 16, 2025
In the "Sir, This is a Hospital Waiting Room!" episode of Armstrong & Getty On Demand, hosts Jack Armstrong and Michael Getty delve into a blend of current events, personal anecdotes, and humorous observations, all while maintaining their signature wit and camaraderie. Joined by Katie, the trio navigates through light-hearted banter and engaging storytelling that keeps listeners entertained and informed.
The episode kicks off with a lively discussion about the recent divorce rumors surrounding former First Lady Michelle Obama. Jack Armstrong introduces the topic lightheartedly, stating, "We have breaking Obama's divorce news." However, the conversation quickly shifts to clarify the misinformation circulating in the media.
Jack emphasizes the stability of Michelle and Barack Obama's marriage, quoting Michelle directly: “There hasn't been one moment in our marriage where I've thought about quitting on my man” ([00:36]). This statement underscores the genuine strength and commitment in their relationship, dispelling any false narratives about their personal lives.
Michael Getty adds depth to the conversation by reflecting on societal expectations of constant happiness in marriages, saying, "More people should say that out loud, though, so that there aren't some people that have unrealistic expectations for how pleasant things should be always" ([01:10]). This insight fosters a more realistic understanding of marital relationships, highlighting the importance of acknowledging and communicating struggles as they arise.
Transitioning from high-profile figures to personal experiences, Katie shares a vivid account of her recent visit to the emergency room (ER). Amid a strewn atmosphere marked by distress and urgency, Katie recounts witnessing various unsettling scenes: “He had blood coming out of his head... another chick was puking into one of those hospital bags” ([01:23]). This portrayal paints a chaotic and intense picture of the ER environment, setting the stage for the ensuing narrative.
Her description of the environment is further enriched by insights from Michael, who likens the ER to "a trip to the human zoo" ([02:16]), capturing the unpredictability and raw human emotions encountered in such settings.
The heart of the episode lies in Katie's account of an uncomfortable encounter in the waiting room. As she waits with her partner Drew, a man in his early 60s repeatedly approaches her, culminating in a bold proposition: “I would like to show you a good time” ([05:10]). Katie, maintaining her composure, attempts to deflect his advances by subtly displaying her wedding ring, saying, “I was trying to blatantly flash my wedding ring, hoping maybe, you know” ([05:22], [07:05]).
Jack Armstrong humorously critiques the situation, questioning, “What is it with these dudes? Where do they come from?” ([05:23]) and remarking on the inappropriateness of his advances: “Man, some dudes shoot their shot everywhere. Everywhere. It doesn't matter. Emergency room” ([05:00]). This segment highlights the awkwardness and discomfort that can arise from unsolicited attention, especially in sensitive environments like a hospital waiting room.
Throughout Katie's narrative, Jack and Michael interject with humorous observations and relatable commentary. When Katie describes the man’s persistent attempts to engage her, Michael quips, “That's who we're helping get pukey McPuker” ([03:07]), adding levity to the tense situation. Jack further mocks the man’s lack of social awareness by suggesting, “Maybe try bumble instead of this” ([06:54]), juxtaposing traditional ER settings with modern dating platforms.
Michael also reflects on generational differences in social interactions, noting, “But you got the generation that is terrified or uninterested in contacting a woman in any way” ([05:28]). This observation opens a dialogue about evolving social norms and the challenges they present in interpersonal communications.
As Katie grapples with the awkward encounter, her partner Drew offers a personal anecdote that shifts the tone to one of heartfelt reflection. Drew shares, “I met my wife at an accident scene. She was on the stretcher, and I asked her out and she said yes. And here we are, married today” ([07:58]). This story not only adds depth to his character but also underscores the unpredictability of life and love, even in the most unexpected places.
Wrapping up the episode, the hosts collectively reflect on Katie's ER experience, acknowledging the mix of chaos, discomfort, and unexpected human connections that define such settings. Drew's interjection about meeting his wife serves as a poignant reminder of finding love amidst life's turmoil, encapsulating the episode's blend of humor and heartfelt moments.
As usual, the episode concludes with the familiar sign-off, reiterating the podcast's identity: “This is an iHeart podcast.”
