The big rule: a training aid should give you feedback, not do the work for you. If it restricts you into the right position (rails, arm tubes, swimming pool noodles, butt-band restrictors), your muscles are training to push AGAINST the restriction — which means as soon as you take it off, you've ingrained the exact pattern you were trying to change.
