Joe
Hey, everyone. Welcome back to Bet yout Happy Hour. I'm Joe.
Serena
And I'm Serena.
Joe
And we are here with you guys one last time. How'd that sound?
Serena
Sounded great.
Joe
Did we get the sound bite out of that? I think so.
Serena
Sounded crazy to hear you say that.
Joe
I know. For all our listeners, we're kicking off 20, 26 saying, see you guys later. We're leaving.
Serena
See you soon. Sayonara.
Joe
See you. It's been a while, but we've decided to stop doing happy hour as the host. And we're an intro the new house. Pretty soon. Pretty soon.
Serena
Yeah. Hold your horses. You're not done with us quite yet. We got a few more. Few more minutes of this episode to milk, but it's been a crazy two and a half years on Bachelor Happy Hour. Joe and I are obviously married. We've been working together, and I mean, a great ride.
Joe
We were married when we started this podcast. Obviously, we were married.
Serena
No, no. Yes. I can't keep track, but when I.
Joe
Started the Bachelor Nation podcast, which the first one was Clickbait, we didn't know each other.
Serena
We didn't. Jo.
Joe
That was 2020.
Serena
Yeah. And I was in quarantine to go on the Bachelor. That's how long ago it was. Quarantine was still like an active part of our lives.
Joe
Okay, correction. We weren't married when we started this podcast, but we are married.
Serena
Our producer just jumped in and was like, no, guys, you weren't married yet, so solely engaged. So since being on this podcast, we got married. We had a wedding.
Joe
Two.
Serena
Two weddings, basically.
Joe
Yeah.
Serena
And so many other amazing memories together.
Joe
Yeah. Yeah. What, man? Yeah, we're not going to be doing Taylor, Frankie, Paul season. What was your favorite season?
Serena
My favorite season to reclap. To recap.
Joe
That we covered. Do you have one?
Serena
I mean, this past season of paradise was fun just because it's nostalgic, and they did try so many new things with it that it was fun to kind of break down and give our opinions on what was wor working, what wasn't working, who we were rooting for, what we liked, all the things. What about you?
Joe
Oh, my least favorite was probably charities. I did not enjoy. I did not enjoy that season. No, no joking. I actually, I have probably charities. I did enjoy her season.
Serena
Well, I think that that's a great way to tee up what's next? Which is, you know, as much as this is sad, we're saying goodbye to you guys. This feels so right for Joe and I to part ways with this chapter of our lives, and we're excited for whatever comes next. But we know what comes next on this podcast, and that is two new hosts that we are going to announce today, and we are beyond excited to be passing the torches off to them.
Joe
Yes. So everyone please welcome your new hosts of Bachelor Happy Hour, Charity and Rachel.
Charity
Hello.
Joe
I'm like, everybody welcome. But, you know, there's only us on this podcast.
Serena
Hi, guys.
Rachel
Excited?
Charity
Hi. Thank you, guys. We are splendid. Spectacular, Truly.
Serena
Okay, so we have not chatted with you guys prior to, like, basically this moment. So walk us through. We've known for a bit that we were parting ways, but tell us about when you guys found out you were gonna be hosting the podcast. When they approached you, what did you think?
Charity
I mean, I'll start off. I just remember, like, being approached and asking to do a little mock interview with Rachel, and I was like, oh, I'm so ready for this. Because I was like, rachel's my girl. We obviously have, like, a friendship outside of the show, but, like, to be doing podcasting and hosting together, incredible. So I was definitely excited. I obviously did not know how it was gonna go, but because like I said, we already had this built in, like, friends and just, like, already, like, off the rip banter, I was like, I'm fine. We're gonna be great.
Rachel
No, I'm so excited. And I was actually shocked because for a little bit, I thought I was, like, blacklisted by the Bachelor because I did another show. I'm like, oh, my God, they're never gonna ask me to do anything again. And when I got the call, I was so excited and even more excited that it's with Charity, but a little scared.
Serena
A little scared.
Joe
What are you worried about?
Serena
I know.
Charity
Charity talk.
Joe
I mean, if I. If I were you guys, I would be really excited for the upcoming season because that's going to be. You're going to have, like. I feel like you're going to have so much to talk about with that season.
Rachel
No, so much.
Charity
Without a doubt. That's. I think that's what I'm most excited for. I'm like, we're coming in really at, like, the perfect timing, because there's going to be so much. Yeah, it's going to make it easy. Exactly.
Serena
Well, and I don't know if you guys know this. You might, but prior to Joe and I being on Happy Hour, it was always two bachelorettes that hosted this podcast. So I feel like with you guys, we're like, really going back to the roots of that and you'll have so much personal experience to share when covering her season.
Charity
For sure.
Katie Couric
We do.
Rachel
It's funny. Wait, I have to say something, Joe. My very first podcast I ever did was on clickbait and I wasn't there. Were you not there?
Joe
Yeah. I'm pretty sure the only person I.
Rachel
Remember being there was Natasha because she was like calling me out left and right and I was like, so terrified. So it's crazy.
Charity
You only interviewed with Natasha.
Rachel
That's the only person I remember talking to me because she just had so many points that she wanted to say. I was like, oh my God, I remember.
Joe
Yeah, I remember you because I remember you were getting a lot of screen time on your season. You were one of the. More like you were one of the bigger gets one of the bigger interviews. And I remember just. I wasn't there.
Charity
Where were you?
Serena
A sec?
Joe
No, I think I was gone.
Charity
Gone where?
Joe
I don't know. I think I was like doing something. Like, I had to take. I had to take the podcast off for like a couple weeks. And I think Rachel ended up being there like a week. I wasn't there.
Katie Couric
I got you.
Rachel
I swear. You were there. Maybe it's because I listened to clickbait so much that season. I just like assumed you were there.
Serena
Yeah.
Joe
Ever been at a pharmacy counter and the pharmacist asks, do you have any questions? And suddenly your mind goes blank? That's exactly why you need to listen to beyond the Script from CVS Pharmacy and iHeartMedia. Starting January 14th. Hosted by Dr. Jake Goodman, this podcast brings you real conversations with CVS pharmacists, the health experts you you see most answering the questions you wish you'd asked, like which medications might not mix well, what vaccines you should consider before a big trip, and even those questions you are too embarrassed to say out loud. As we head into 2026, it's safe to say that 2025 was a year like no other. So much news, so much disruption and yes, so much division. That's why we're wrapping up this season of Next Question with a look back at everything that's happened. Things are coming at us with such a velocity, we thought it was important to take a moment, connect the dots and and explore what it all means. We're summing up the first year of Trump's second term with David Graham on Project 2025 and how many of the goals have been implemented. Richard Haass on foreign policy and the changing world order. Jessica Valenti on reproductive rights and the terrifying consequences of abortion bans. Tina Brown on the year scandals here and across the pond. The President has upended everything from pardons to the press, so we're covering it all. Listen to Next Question with me, Katie Couric on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Serena
You guys are such a good pairing. You were In a lot of ways. Like, for us, when we were thinking about who would replace us, I said, you two. You were our obvious.
Joe
And I didn't even know you guys were friends.
Serena
You were exactly who we thought they would go with. Like, when we were speculating, it was like, I. We were both just like, it's going to be Rachel and Charity, like, I guarantee.
Charity
Oh, I love that.
Serena
You were, like, top of mind right away. And Charity, you've been on this podcast a lot. You're always such, like, a fun guest. You've also co hosted with Joe. So, like, it's so amazing.
Joe
That one episode, that was actually amazing.
Charity
That was insane.
Joe
That was like. I don't even know how we aired that.
Charity
No, it was insane.
Serena
What was it?
Rachel
What was the episode?
Charity
Oh, wait, now Jeremy were on and they just had no, it was just.
Joe
I think, like, Spencer or someone else was. I think we had, like, three people on. Don just kept, like, chiming in with, like, jokes that weren't, like, didn't land and they were inappropriate.
Charity
They were inappropriate. I was like, we can't talk about this.
Joe
Like, all right, we can't.
Serena
Didn't Jeremy have some, like, funky background, too?
Joe
Yeah, he, like, came out with, like, a shirt off or something. Like, I don't know.
Charity
It was like he was, like, teeing up paradise. He had, like, a little pair that, like, pull palm tree setting. I was like, okay, like, we get it. You want to go to the beach? No way.
Serena
Well, he would come on with no shirt and a paradise background to tell us, like, he didn't want to go to paradise.
Charity
Exactly. He's like, no, no, I'm not going. I'm just, you know, I'm just seeing what happens. I'm like, okay.
Rachel
Classic last words. I said the same thing, too.
Serena
We're glad he went, and we're glad that you went. Rachel. Rachel, I don't know if you can't talk about that. You are always one of our most chaotic interviews. Like, when you come on, trying to reign you in to say that we can air is so hard. You'll be out here being like, my season was a failure. Okay, Everyone knows it was.
Rachel
We could go into that, but, like, hopefully I could do this a little bit better, and hopefully I can bring.
Joe
In a little bit.
Serena
That's why you guys are a part of.
Katie Couric
Stay that.
Serena
Stay that way because keep it authentic. Keep it yourselves.
Joe
Those attributes are great for a podcast. They stay unhinged.
Serena
Stay.
Joe
It's. It's good for everyone.
Charity
Perfect.
Serena
That was a game plan before we Part ways. Is there anything you guys want to ask us? Any questions you have?
Charity
Oh, I feel like I have a list. Like, hello, where should we start?
Serena
Charity.
Joe
One question each?
Rachel
Not one question each.
Charity
No, I have, like. I have, like, four. But, like, okay, I do want to ask because obviously, like, this episode is about, like, as much as it is about you guys introducing us. It's about you guys, too. And, like, I'm so curious because you guys have done this for so long. How do you guys feel? Like podcasting together has, like, I guess, changed. If it's changed for the better Yalls dynamic as, like, in relationship. Like, I'm very curious.
Serena
I feel like. So when Joe and I got off the show, we were pretty intentional about keeping our businesses separate as much as possible. Like, we had a conversation about it. I was like, I don't want to be up in your stuff. I want you out of my stuff. So it was kind of the first time we really, like, merged in a big way. I feel like it kind of honed our skill on how to work together. Like, I don't think it changed our relationship, but I would say it changed that facet of our relationship in, like, how we communicate and how we take, like, criticism from each other in a business capacity. Because we do have very different styles. I think, like, people may be surprised. Like, I'm a little bit more intense than Joe is when it comes to business stuff, I think I'm not surprised at all.
Josh Zieman
At all.
Joe
But we. I think we just. I think it's just. We kind of just gel well, and it's just. It's pretty easy. And also, like, we both, for the most part, when it comes to work, we have thick skin. Like, like, we can get done with the podcast. And I'll. And I will critique, like, something Serena did.
Serena
Yeah. X, Y, Z today. Yeah.
Joe
Or like. Or vice versa. Where I think with a lot of couples, like, if you start doing that, like, that could be an issue for people.
Serena
And we're pretty good about keeping, like, podcast bucket. Podcast bucket. And then, like, personal. I do think, like, you can be married and in a happy, healthy relationship and not be able to work with your partner. I think that's, like, totally possible. We're just blessed. We also can work, but we're not.
Joe
Gonna, like, we're not gonna get into, like, you know, a fight about, you know, whatever. Some. Something that we fight about. And I'm not going to be like, well, you know, two weeks ago, you sucked on that podcast. Like, we keep it separate.
Charity
Yeah. So that's I think that's really, like, honestly really beautiful, because I do feel like that's rare. Like, not everyone can do that. But I'm like, you guys obviously have managed and done it so beautifully, so.
Joe
Oh, thank you.
Charity
Thank you.
Rachel
I can't believe you guys are leaving. Like, it's crazy. Whenever I think about Happy Hour, I just like, picture you guys.
Charity
I know What's.
Rachel
What's next, though. Actually, you guys can have your own.
Serena
Podcast because right now we're just like, starting off 20, 26 parting ways with this. You know what I mean? Like, it just felt like more than like, anything. It just felt like the right time for us to close the door on this chapter.
Joe
I just could. You know what? I. I couldn't do one more. So how'd you get on the show? You know, I probably. I've probably done like 85 of those.
Josh Zieman
Maybe more.
Joe
Maybe a hundred.
Serena
So tell us, how'd you get on the Bachelor? How'd you get out of the Bachelorette?
Charity
So tell us.
Joe
And then the answer. The answer is always this. Well, I didn't. Like, I never even heard of the show.
Charity
That's a lie. A lie. It's classic. Yeah.
Serena
Yeah. So it was really less about what's next and more just about, like, it was the right time for us to like, close the door on this season of life and this opportunity, which we were so grateful for. But yeah, we were just ready to part ways with it. You're the snake is ending. So, like, we're leaving. We're leaving this in year the snake.
Joe
And what is it? What is it?
Serena
You're the fire horse. It's coming up.
Charity
Come on now.
Joe
I'm excited about that.
Serena
Yeah.
Rachel
Oh, my gosh.
Charity
Okay, I do have another. I have like two more, but just bear with me. Okay. So obviously, I think Yalls first season was my season, was it not?
Serena
You know what's crazy? So the first episode of Happy hour we ever did prior to doing your season, Charity, which was our first season of recapping, we filmed at like 6:30 in the morning because Joe was flying back from something and we were supposed to record it like that night. Do you remember this?
Rachel
Yeah.
Joe
I didn't even sleep.
Serena
You got stuck somewhere. Oh, all the way. Overnight. He got in a cab with like three random guys, drove like four hours back to New York and then jumped on and recorded.
Joe
I was on a flight. I was on a flight home from Vegas and.
Rachel
Oh, my God, not Vegas.
Charity
I know.
Joe
My bachelor. My bachelor party on top of it. And the weather Was really bad.
Charity
Oh, I'm so sorry. What?
Joe
Yeah, the weather was really bad, so we couldn't land. So then they rerouted us to Baltimore and we didn't get. They didn't give us our bags. 12:30 at night. And then me and like four random guys, they're like, you guys want to just take an Uber back?
Serena
I was like, something like a girl could just never do.
Charity
I got like, I'm dedication. I would have never. You would have never seen me that day.
Serena
Like, that's a bus.
Charity
Correct, Correct.
Joe
So to recorrect our producer. To recorrect her. We actually were married when we started this podcast.
Serena
Yes, we were married officially.
Joe
We were legally, legally married.
Serena
We didn't have our wedding.
Joe
We didn't have our. Our. Our South Carolina wedding.
Serena
And our first season was charity, so we got all the facts in line. Now.
Charity
Wait. Okay. I actually love that because this is like incredibly full circle moment. Like, you guys are patching the torch off today.
Serena
That actually is very.
Charity
It is crazy. Yeah. But okay. My season wasn't really controversial. I don't think. I'm trying to think who really was. I don't maybe like, not even, like, I feel like it's kind of been very mellow the past few seasons. But I do have a feeling that Taylor season is going to give us a lot of great things. So my question is, as hosts, whenever you guys are interviewing, maybe contestants, whoever leads, how do you guys, like, handle maybe something that might be incredibly polarizing or if it's controversial and you guys, like, decide you guys want to talk about it, how do you guys navigate conversations like that?
Serena
I think for us, it's kind of.
Joe
We're just here to ask questions.
Serena
Remembering. It's not. Yeah, it's not a conversation in a way. Like, it's just. We're just here to ask questions, to allow people to share whatever parts of their story they want and then pulling on the threads that they give us. Because usually people want to come on, they want to clear the air. They want to talk about the controversial moments because they want to share their side and their perspective. So people are usually willing. And it's just.
Joe
Yeah, the thing is. Here's the thing. If they want to share, they will, and if they don't, it's not really, you know, it's not. It's not our job to.
Charity
Correct.
Joe
Pull it out of them.
Charity
Correct.
Joe
If you're uncomfortable, you're uncomfortable, so you're just not going to share. But usually, usually people say yes to a podcast because they want to talk, and they want to talk about what happened.
Serena
Yeah. And if they don't want to talk, good luck. Because that's hard.
Joe
That happens.
Rachel
You've had people not want to talk at all.
Joe
Well, you get people that are. And I have a lot of sympathy for this because I used to be like this. But you do get people that are nervous and.
Serena
Or more short with their answers.
Joe
Yeah, yeah. Like the. So how'd it go? Good. You get. And I used to do that. That could be tough.
Serena
Plus, plus, plus.
Charity
But see, I also think. And not that you guys did a bad job. I could feel like, if anything, Serena, you're really good at this. Like, it's the type of questions you also ask. Like, not close ended questions. Like open ended. Yeah.
Serena
Yeah. Sometimes if we ask a question and you get a good. Sometimes it's on you to be like, okay, how can I think of a more dynamic question? How can I think of something that they have to expand on or just like a follow up? Like, yeah, okay. Why? Yeah, why was it good?
Charity
Like, why was it. Tell us more.
Serena
Tell me more. Tell me everything.
Rachel
Who is your favorite interview that you guys have done?
Serena
That's so hard. We're actually talking about this today.
Rachel
Like, don't say me and Charity, because.
Charity
Yeah, I wasn't.
Joe
No joking. I. Honestly, I. I don't know. Like, it's too hard when you. When you really think about it. It's just like, there's just been so many. Yeah.
Serena
The happy couples are always fun. Charity, you were our first happy couple and you're our first in person interview ever.
Charity
Remember we were. Wait, I do remember. Was that like my. Yeah. After my finale?
Serena
No, it's the day before you came.
Rachel
Wait, really?
Serena
Yeah. Remember we set up, like, a studio at our producer's house.
Charity
Oh, my gosh. It was the day before. Please, enough.
Serena
Yes. And that was my.
Charity
Memories fail.
Serena
The happy couples are fun because you really get to see and know the couple in a way. Even just like chatting before and after. Especially, like, you feel like you're getting an inside look into a relationship that you've only seen, like, parts of on tv. And you kind of leave being like, oh, I feel like I know this couple and I want to go back.
Charity
I wish I want to go back to happy couples.
Rachel
I don't.
Joe
But any chance you get to record in person, do it. That's the best. In my opinion. That's the best. Because you could actually get, like, a feel. Like you could get a better feel for someone even, like, just going Back to, like, me saying people get nervous. Like. Yeah, people ease more into it when you're. When you're, like, sitting next to each other.
Serena
Yeah. It's just more intimate.
Joe
Yeah.
Serena
Yeah. But we've been so happy to come on and chat with you guys. And honestly, the best part about leaving is just, like, passing this off to you guys and being excited for you guys to take over and be the new host. Like, we know without a doubt you're going to kill it. The listeners are going to be so excited listening to this and hearing this announcement that you guys are taking over. So, yeah, we just want to wish you guys the best and you ever need us. You have our numbers.
Charity
Oh, for sure. You will get a ring.
Katie Couric
Ring.
Rachel
I say you will be helping me out. Absolutely, you guys, so much. Oh, no, we're sad, but exciting.
Serena
It's bittersweet.
Charity
Bittersweet. No, we're so happy for you guys.
Joe
And to all our listeners over the past years and people that crossed over from clickbait, love you guys. Thank you so much. This podcast wouldn't even be around if it wasn't for you, so thank you.
Serena
Yes. Thank you guys so much for listening. This is Joe and Serena signing off for the last time, and we're wishing you guys all the best.
Joe
Peace.
Serena
Bye.
Rachel
Oh, my gosh.
Charity
Okay. Why am I so emotional right now? Rachel, give us a tear.
Serena
No.
Rachel
And I, I. If anything, I can give a tear. This is just so sad. I feel like, I don't know, happy hour without Joe and Serena.
Charity
I know. Maybe we'll have to have them back on for sure, because they have so much great things in store for this year, so I would love to catch back up with them, but it's officially ours now. I know. Let's do this.
Rachel
Crazy. Going into Taylor Season 2, there's gonna be so much drama. It's gonna be so polarizing. We are so excited to be your new host. Make sure you subscribe. We're gonna have new episodes dropping each week, including our very first episode together, which will be coming out this Thursday.
Charity
We are so excited. And that's it. So we will see you guys next.
Rachel
Time and the time after that and.
Charity
The one after that and the week.
Rachel
After that and forever. And good luck getting rid of us.
Charity
Because we're not going anywhere. All right, bye. This is an iHeart podcast. Guaranteed Human.
