Spencer
I actually drive better when I'm high. It heightens my senses, calms me down. If anything, I'm more careful. Honestly, it just helps me focus.
NHTSA Ad Voice
That's probably what the driver who killed a four year old told himself, and now he's in prison. You see, no matter what you tell yourself, if you feel different, you drive different. So if you're high, just don't drive. Brought to you by NHTSA and the Ad Council.
Heather Dubrow
Almost 30 years together, four kids, and some of reality TV's most unforgettable moments. We're taking you behind the scenes in our podcast between us with me, Heather

Host Susan
But I mean, what's the latest rumor?

And I'm like, who is this person?
Jess
Welcome to the Boys and Girls podcast. Arranged marriage is basically a reality show
Anna Sinfield
and you're auditioning for your soulmate.
Jess
And who's judging? Only your entire family. I sacrificed myself to this ancient tradition, hoping to find love the right way.
Anna Sinfield
And instead I found chaos, comedy, and
Jess
a lot of cringe. Listen to boys and Girls on the

Jess
Hey, everyone, it's Emily Simpson and Shane Simpson from the Legally Brunette podcast.

Jess
Whether you want all the facts on the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie or you still need to wrap your head around the Diddy verdict, we're breaking it all down step by step.

Host Susan
Welcome back to Bachelor Happy Hours Golden Hour. Thanks so much for joining us today. We are so excited to be back because we have very special guests. But first, Susan, tell me, how are you doing, my dear? Are you still freezing to death?
Jess
Excellent.
Susan
I'm getting ready to leave the cold and going to the island.
Host Susan
It's really been cold where you are.
Susan
It was like nine degrees last night.
Host Susan
It's.
Susan
The snow will not melt. It's like a brick.
Host Susan
Can I tell you what my temperature here today is?
Susan
85.
Host Susan
85. All right. We're going to the 80s.
Susan
With that being said, we do have two very special guests. Actually, they were my favorites from Bachelor in Paradise. Jess and Spencer are here with us today. Welcome, guys.
Narrator
Hello.
Susan
We finally get to chat.
Jess
Oh, it's been a long time coming there.
Host Susan
I can't even. First of all, you've matched perfectly your colors, your blue. Was that purposely.
Jess
We did not even.
Spencer
We didn't even coordinate it.
Jess
Yeah, we didn't even plan that. That's just.
Spencer
I'm actually now just noticing how much of a match it is.
Host Susan
I just tell you that they. And you've got your two dogs there. I mean, you guys are just living the life, aren't you?
Jess
We honestly are.
Host Susan
All right.
Susan
There's so many questions we haven't started.
Host Susan
All right, we're going to dive right in. We were going to do some small talk here, but honestly, I, I, you know me, I need answers. Jess and Spencer, I need answers.
Jess
I can't wait for you to just go down that checkl first.
Susan
Start in Dallas proper. Are you in one of the suburbias?
Spencer
It's Dallas proper. Like Greenville Street.
Susan
I lived in Arlington.
Spencer
Oh, nice.
Host Susan
Greenville is a street, right?
Spencer
Yeah. Yeah.
Host Susan
Greenville in Dallas. Okay, wait, I have a question. I want to know about the move. Let's back up. Talk to us about the move. And then we're.
Jess
It was chaos. It was honestly a lot because not only did I have to move all of my things from San Diego, I, like, basically had to double move because his lease wasn't up. So they came and got all of my things, and they were holding it in storage. And then I just loaded up everything I could fit in my car, and it was just kind of chilling in his little apartment for a little bit. And then at the beginning of January, we finally moved into our new place together with all of our things and both of our dogs. So it was. It was a little bit of a double move for me, but.
Host Susan
Are you in an apartment? A house? Where are you actually living?
Spencer
Townhouse.
Jess
Yeah, we're in a little townhouse. Actually, it's not little. It's honestly huge. I get my steps in every single day now. Because we have flights of stairs.
Host Susan
Yeah.
Spencer
And it's really tall ceiling, so that
Host Susan
means buy it or rent it.
Spencer
Ren.
Jess
Okay, our dog is going crazy right now.
Anna Sinfield
I'm so sorry.
Host Susan
We can't hear a thing. But you know what? I do. As I said before you came on, you know, with dogs, you can put them out in the backyard, lock them in a closet. Kids, not so much.
Susan
So you brought a dog to the relationship and he had a dog. Right. So now we have two.
Jess
Now we have two.
Susan
And how is that?
Jess
It's.
Spencer
It's been really good. I mean, she's very talkative right now, so I'm gonna go put her upstairs real quick. He's gonna take over real quick.
Jess
Are you sure?
Spencer
Yeah.
Jess
Okay. Oh, my God. I'm so sorry.
Susan
So did they get along right away?
Jess
It's just the girls now. They do. It was definitely a little bit of a learning curve because my dog Charlie is used to other dogs, like big dogs and.
Host Susan
Okay, wait, wait while he's gone. Wait, while Spencer's gone. Yeah, forget the dogs. We can get back to that when he comes back. What is it like living with him? What's his worst hab on? Give us some good scoopy.
Jess
You know what? That's so funny. He actually is so clean. I will say he has very stinky running shoes. Those downstairs. Those. Those don't go in the upstairs closet. They stay downstairs. And he's so funny. He will, like, I'll do the dishes and then he'll unload them, and then he'll leave the cabinet doors open. Oh, very interesting. It really doesn't bother me, but it's been hilarious because I'll walk in, easy access put up. And I know because the cabinets are open
Spencer
and I'm opening cabinets. I'm putting things away.
Jess
We're a little ADHD around here, but.
Host Susan
Okay, so wait, I want to know what is the most. Cuz when we were on paradise and you know, you talked about movie, that you were wanting to move in together pretty quickly. And I cannot tell everyone how what a fabulous couple you two are. You're just. I've been so excited, but I want to know what is it like now you're living together. You really are integrating your lives. What is it really like, it's so
Spencer
much better than it was. Trying to figure out things apart and having distance is tough. And there was obviously a lot of logistics because two different states and we had to figure out where we were going to meet. Would it be somewhere completely different? Would I go to San Diego? Would she come to Dallas? And it was a lot of logistics. Logistics to figure out, especially with Lisa's then on different dates and everything. So now that we're finally here and we finally have furniture and everything, which was a whole nother.
Jess
So fun to just like. It sounds so boring, but it's been so fun to just be normal.
Susan
She's made it very like playing house.
Spencer
Yeah.
Jess
And also, like, I'm not going to lie, I loved when we were going back and forth because, like, I loved showing him San Diego and he would show me Dallas. But now it's like I have my car here and I have my dog here. So it's like, like, it's just so nice to like, just be normal and like, do normal things together and have our little routine and.
Host Susan
Yeah.
Jess
It's just.
Spencer
Especially with all the travel last year. I do not thrive without a routine.
Jess
He was like, I do not want to travel at all.
Spencer
For the first, like four months. I'm staying here. Whatever you'd like to do, that's totally fine.
Susan
I'll meet you back here.
Spencer
Stay at home.
Susan
Wait, what is Dallas's home for long term? Is that what you're thinking?
Jess
Yes, I definitely think for at least. Well, at least the next year for sure. But I honestly already love it. I think that Spence obviously loves it. He's been here for like a long time, since 2011. So, yeah, so he's been here a while and I mean, I didn't have many doubts. I knew I would miss the beach, but all. Most of my family is in Tennessee, so I'm closer to. To get back home. Now there's. It's only positives for me.
Spencer
You have quite a bit of airline miles burning, so we want to go to the beach. We can fly the beach.
Jess
We can go anytime.
Host Susan
Okay. I'm feeling really ADHD here because I have so many questions. I got it back up for one second. Yeah, Spencer and. And I don't know if you've ever said this or if it even was televised, but I, as you know, I adore both you guys, but can you just tell we're going to get into your wedding plans and all that, but can you just tell everyone? And if you don't, I'm going to what you said about getting engaged to this beautiful woman, about her dad. Do you remember what you said?
Spencer
Yeah. So there were a lot of hoops I had to jump through to be able to speak to both of her parents. And it was really important to me that I talked to both her dad and mom about especially she's their only child. So.
Host Susan
Yeah.
Spencer
And it was really big for me. So I told them if they want an engagement on the show, they've got to let me talk to both parents.
Susan
And I love that.
Jess
I don't know. It. Honestly, it meant so much to me too, that he like, he really wanted to talk to my dad. That was like his number one. But he knows how close I am with my mom too, so. And I'm their baby girl. I'm their only kid. So it just like, it, it melte. Melted my heart a little that it was like he was like, if I don't get to talk to him, then I'm not doing it. Like, sorry, baby, but I'll do it later on.
Spencer
Well, we'll do it somewhere else. Yeah.
Susan
I'm not starting off on the bad foot because.
Host Susan
Because, Spencer, you had said we, we had talked about. You had talked to a couple different people about getting engaged. And the after you said to me, and you were just so forthright, it just warmed my heart. You said, you know, there's no way I can't do it. I had.
Spencer
You.
Host Susan
You told me after you talked to.
Spencer
Well, it was. They. For. I. I mean, for a while it was looking like that wasn't going to be a possibility. There was a ton of logistics going on, filming, and there were the competitions and all these things we had to work around. So it was actually, I, I really appreciate them, production being able to jump through some hoops. So I was able to do that because it really was like, we were busy. There wasn't a lot of downtime.
Jess
Especially even like the night before it happened. We didn't even know. We were like, I don't know if they're gonna like, give us that opportunity to get engaged at this point.
Spencer
Like, we had discussed it, but we're like, I. I don't know where the time's going to be for any of that. So we discussed it, but I don't know.
Host Susan
I will tell you, I was so bummed out. I said to the producers, what do I have to do? Like, I'm going to hide out here because I want to see. I'll hide behind a tree. I want to see them get engaged.
Spencer
I would have told Them. It's not happening unless you were there. If I knew that, Spencer.
Host Susan
Well, listen, as long as I get invited to the wedding, I'll. I'll let it go. But I was dying.
Jess
Don't worry.
Host Susan
Yeah.
Susan
I was the best.
Host Susan
The best.
Susan
And I remember back when you weren't a hundred percent, you go, well, I don't know if I want to move. Remember, Jess?
Jess
And I was like, no, you have to. I think it's great. Yeah. I was letting that little, like, devil on the shoulder.
Susan
Yes.
Jess
Negativity. And then I actually got to talk to both my parents, too, the night before the engagement. And something that they said to me that I, like, always love to tell this story because I was just letting my own. My past, like, really come up and be like, you don't deserve this. It's too good to be true. Like, don't do, like, you're rushing into it, like, something's going to happen. All these things. And I was so scared also that, like, my parents were going to be like, you're insane for this.
Host Susan
You told me that. You told me that.
Spencer
Kind of fair. Which would be kind of fair.
Jess
Yeah, it's fine. But both of them. And, like, I called them separately, too. Like, just so you all know, I. I called them separately. They both said the exact same thing. They were like, it. We trust your instincts and we trust what you feel. You're so in tune with your emotions. And if you feel like this is your man and this is what you want to do, then we support you. 100. Like, they both have exact same response. And that was just like a. Oh, my God. Okay. Yeah, I'm doing this then.
Susan
Okay, we're good.
Jess
That's my man.
Host Susan
And I love that. I love that they said that. You also said that to me when you told me what your parents had said. And I thought they must be amazing people to try. Because I have to be honest, Susan, I don't know what you think. I'm not sure. Well, I'm a little crazy how I would have. What I would have. What would have come out of this mouth if my daughter had called me and said, hey, I met this guy three weeks ago, and I'm not.
Jess
I was scared. I was scared. Honestly, I was like, o. I don't know.
Spencer
I think you have it in you to be supportive of your child there. I think you go the same route.
Host Susan
Hey, listen, if I met the right guy, I'd be engaged tomorrow.
Spencer
I was about to ask you about your man. Man search.
Host Susan
We'll get to that. We'll get to that.

Roald Dahl Podcast Host
You know Roald Dahl, the writer who thought up Willy Wonka, Matilda, and the bfg. But did you know he was also a spy?
Jess
Was this before he wrote his stories? It must have been.
Roald Dahl Podcast Host
Our new podcast series, the Secret World of Roald Dahl is a wild journey through the hidden chapters of his extraordinary, controversial life. His job was literally to seduce the wives of powerful Americans.
Spencer
What?
Roald Dahl Podcast Host
And he was really good at it. You probably won't believe it either.
Jess
Okay, I don't think that's true.
Roald Dahl Podcast Host
I'm telling you, the guy was a spy. Did you know Dahl got cozy with the Roosevelts, played poker with Harry Truman, and had a long affair with a congresswoman? And then he took his talents to Hollywood, where he worked alongside Walt Disney and Alfred Hitchcock before writing a hit James Bond film. How did this secret agent wind up as the most successful children's author ever? And what darkness from his covert past seeped into the stories we read as kids? The true story is stranger than anything he ever wrote. Listen to the Secret World of Roald Dahl on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Susan
While Jess was speaking just now, he couldn't take his eyes off of her. He looked at her just like on the show. I love this.
Host Susan
No, it's so real. And I have to tell you. So you guys, that you live about three hours from me, you're in Dallas, I'm in Austin. And you guys came to Austin and I have to tell you, I makes me cry. It was so nice to see see you guys. And see Susan. You're exactly right. The way they look at each other is.
Susan
It's, it's real.
Host Susan
My, my belief. Susan, you and I have talked about this too. Lots of people get married. Lots of people. But you guys are going to have that relationship for life that people wish they could find thank you so much.
Jess
I love that so much.
Spencer
It was so much fun visiting you too. We need an actual Austin trip. So we. We went for the music festival, but I love Austin so much. Actually, when you guys were talking about staying put in Dallas, I don't know if either of us are like, I have family here, I have friends here. I don't know, super tired.
Jess
You just say the word. We can go wherever. I'm down to experience anywhere. Let's just do it.
Host Susan
Hey, listen, you can come and live in my house and I'll go travel. You could just come and stay in my house. Bring the dogs. I have two cats. It'll be chaos
Susan
meeting all his friends. Jess, you liked everybody.
Jess
Oh my gosh. I love one thing. And like, I never thought of it. Like, I don't know if it was just something that I hadn't noticed, but I was asked a question by someone like, oh, do you like all of Spencer's friends? And I'm like, oh, I love them. He has like these two guy best friends and they just have the most amazing wives and they're so sweet and they brought. They.
Host Susan
Wait, did you say lives or.
Jess
I'm sorry, the southern accent is coming out. Wives. They just welcome me in with open arms and they're so sweet. But something that stood out is like, he is so nice to everyone. Like, this is the kindest man I've ever met. But he is very particular on who he actually calls a friend. Like, he has standards and I honestly love that. Like, of course, be friendly with everyone and be nice to everyone. But it's almost a little questionable. Like, oh, you have all these millions of best friends. Like, what?
Susan
Why?
Jess
Why you can't get super close to anyone.
Spencer
I don't have many best friends. I have like, I don't know, three of my. The people I spend time with. My primary love. Language is folly time. So if I'm spending time with someone, that's my way of showing them I care about them. And there's.
Jess
I just love that he was picky about who he spends his time with. I just like, I don't know.
Host Susan
Wait, Spencer, did you grow up in Dallas? Now I'm confused.
Spencer
No, no, no, no. I grew up in Utah. So I was born in Wyoming, grew up in Utah, was going to actually play football at the University of Utah, and my mom had gotten a new job in Dallas and she brought my football film up to the SMU offices.
Jess
She's a go getter.
Spencer
Got me a. They were like, oh, yeah, we have a Spot on the team forums. Then she flew me here and I was like, wow, Dallas is beautiful. And there's no horses. And I was expecting come here and it'd be like people riding horses around as a mode of transportation. And that wasn't it at all. So they do have the rodeo in Fort Worth. Dallas is very stockyard. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Bougie.
Jess
I feel like that is one thing that I've had to get used to is like, in San Diego, I feel like I could just walk around kind of looking like a bum all the time. Whereas here, like, everyone's always so put together and like, looks great. And I'm like, okay, wow, I need to like, go get some cuter outfits or something. Like, I don't know what's.
Spencer
So she did. So I did put some. That prize money.
Host Susan
I did.
Susan
Of course you did.
Jess
I did.
Host Susan
Well, now that we're talking about prize money, what else are we spending that prize money on?
Spencer
A lot of it went into savings. I hope that, like, student loan debt and stuff.
Susan
Yeah.
Spencer
And then when we moved into the new townhouse, we didn't really have any furniture because all my furniture was for a smaller one bedroom apartment. All of her furniture got left in San Diego, so I gave it away. We had to. We've been, We've been thrifty, though. We've been on Facebook, Marketplace. I love this. The decision to buy the coffee table right there had no idea. The best purchase, £320. And me and my friend had to lift it up a whole flight of stairs. Facebook, Marketplace. It was a deal.
Host Susan
There. There's great deals on that. So when we. You remember when we were doing interviews about Keith and I were asking in paradise, if you won the money, what would you spend it on? And I. Again, everyone needs to hear this. You two unequivocally had the best answer. You said we would put a lot in savings. I mean, as a mom, it spoke to me. You said, we, we'll put some in savings. We want to.
Susan
Student loans.
Host Susan
I. I don't remember you saying that, but I'm sure you did. But the other thing you said is, you know, when we get married, we want to be able to put money down and have a house. And it just. You guys seem definitely for Dr. Yeah,
Susan
let's talk about that.
Spencer
Yeah. Take it away. So let the lady take it away.
Jess
We actually just had this conversation like a few nights ago, so we haven't started any planning yet. I think one thing that we, we, at first we were like, okay. When it's been a year. Maybe we revisit and start planning then. But our biggest thing is, like, we just kind of want to take time and like, live life normally. I think that a lot of people forget we had to be hidden and also live separately for a couple months. So we lost out on a lot of time in hiding and then also waiting to actually move in together.
Spencer
Yeah. We've only been living here for a month.
Jess
Literally one month.
NHTSA Ad Voice
Kidding.
Spencer
So, yeah, a month and a week.
Jess
So we were like, okay, so May's coming up real quick and it's going to be a year. We did say we're like, about planning.
Spencer
We're like, let's. Like, it's still so fresh that we're here. So when May comes around, it could very well be, oh, my gosh. Okay. Yeah, let's start planning.
Host Susan
But guys, there's no rush. Enjoy your time together.
Spencer
And I love. She has made this house so homey and so comfortable.
Susan
The woman's touch. She's got that woman's eyes.
Spencer
Yeah.
Host Susan
Spencer, I'm telling you, where the hell is your uncle? I want him.
Spencer
I got a couple of them.
Host Susan
Send them my way.
Susan
But they might not take after him. Cat.
Host Susan
Oh, that. That went without his family.
Jess
His family's great.
Spencer
Yeah. And we made it through. I think, like, obviously every relationship has stressors and it was a lot of pressure on us individually, us as a couple with the move.
Host Susan
Yeah.
Spencer
Like her literally giving up her whole life that everything on in San Diego, all those ties she had there to come to this brand new place that she's never been before.
Host Susan
Yeah. But you know what, Spencer?
Susan
It's because she came for you.
Host Susan
She loves you. It was nothing to give up. That it was.
Spencer
And we made it through picking furniture.
Jess
We did.
Spencer
That was kidding.
Jess
It's so funny, like, the amount of DMs that I get that are like, do you and Spencer ever argue? I want to be like, yeah. It took us like four weeks to decide on a rug.
Spencer
That rug, that brown rug, that thing took a couple weeks to find.
Host Susan
I.
Jess
We like, made a joke. I think I commented on an Instagram post or something. I'm like, we literally, like, almost broke up over a rug. Not actually. So that's gonna be the next bachelor headlines.
Host Susan
Yeah.
Spencer
With the Facebook pages. No, but it's been like, actually, I'm being so sorry. So many, so many big life hurdles that. That we've gone through and done really, really, really well with. I'm really proud of us and where we are now. And for sure it's like, so nice to actually finally be in our home. We're moved in.
Host Susan
Who found it? I want to know who found this home Was.
Spencer
It
Jess
was definitely me.
Spencer
For sure.
Jess
It was definitely me, Spencer, because I
Spencer
found a realtor that found it, so.
Susan
Oh, okay.
Spencer
Yeah, our realtor found this one. And who found him?
Jess
Found him.
Spencer
I went to go tour a different unit with them.
Jess
Oh, yeah, you did you fight.
Host Susan
Fight.
Susan
She looked at it first or did you go together to look at it?
Jess
We went together.
Spencer
This one, we went together. There was a couple when she was still in San Diego that I went and toured and I would take a video and everything. This one we actually got see together.
Jess
I'm also so weird. There was ones. There was a lot of ones we looked at that were great and he really liked. And then I would walk in and I'm like, the vibe is off. Like, I'm so weird. There's just something.
Host Susan
Okay, so let me real quickly. That is so true. When I bought the house that I'm in and my. My husband was alive, we bought it together. My realtor called me and said, it just came on the market, if you can be over here. I. So I left work. Work, literally, and. And came over here. It was like 15 minutes from work. And I walked in. It was like Miracle on 34th Street. I called my husband and I said. He said, I haven't left yet. I'm in a meeting. I said, you don't have to bother coming. We're buying it. I've already, like, you can come and look at it if you want, but we're buying.
Spencer
I will say, when we walked in this one initially, I was like, I don't think so. I don't like it very much. Okay, we'll move it. And I am so happy that I listened to her on that one because it's been perfect.
Susan
What did you like when you walked in?
Jess
I think that. Honestly, I think that all ceilings.
Host Susan
Yeah.
Jess
He didn't. What didn't you like? I don't remember. It was something like, very. He just. There was one that we fell in love with, but it was, like, way too early to sign a lease when we found it. And so I think we did both. We compared everything to that first one.
Spencer
Yeah.
Jess
And he's like, but I don't know. And I'm like, honey, we have, like, two weeks left before we need a place, so you're stressing me out.
Spencer
We gotta cross the nation.
Host Susan
How many bedrooms do you guys have?
Spencer
Just two. It's two with an office with an office, so.
Host Susan
Well, as long as there's more than one. I'm coming.
Spencer
Oh, you're coming? You have a guest bedroom already.
Jess
Susan, you're coming, too.
Spencer
There we go.
Host Susan
We could share bed.
Spencer
We have many on the couch.
Susan
Yeah, I was there nine years I lived there. And I really love that. The people are so great. They are kind. Then you get off the plane back in Jersey or New York or Philly, it's like, yo.
Spencer
Yeah.
Host Susan
Okay, wait. So who does the cooking? Tell me how you divide the. The. Divide and conquer the. The chores. How's it work over there?
Jess
He actually is both good cooks, but he's a. He's a better cook than me.
Spencer
Honestly, I don't know if it's better or worse. I just cook more. I eat a lot, so I cook a lot.
Jess
He does. He's very particular about his. Like, he weighs all this stuff. He's.
Spencer
Sometimes. Well, I'm. I'm cutting weight right now. I'm gonna cut.
Host Susan
What's that?
Spencer
I get ready for. Gotta get ready for the summer.
Jess
So I'm protein, and I'm like, I don't know. Like, just. Will you just do it?
Host Susan
I don't know.
Jess
I don't know what you need. I don't know.
Host Susan
What's your big thing? What's your favorite meal to cook? Spencer, what's your. What's your. You know, if. What's your meal to impress?
Spencer
So I apparently have now learned that two things. One, I make a lot of the same meals, and two, I make a lot of bowls of just, like, stuff like, just. I just had potatoes and eggs and steak just in a bowl.
Host Susan
Yeah.
Susan
You don't have a nice big steak?
Host Susan
No. You don't have your chicken
Spencer
bowl?
Host Susan
Yeah, I'm with you.
Jess
Let me tell you, the size of bowl that he uses is like what you would use.
Susan
A salad bowl.
Host Susan
Yes.
Jess
Like, I'm not kidding. I'm like, what is happening?
Narrator
He.
Susan
Yeah. As far as finding groceries compared to California.
Jess
Oh, my gosh.
Susan
Different, isn't it?
Jess
Everything here is also so cheap compared to California. I'm like, this is crazy. That much, like, gas is $2 inst. Like, 7.
Spencer
Like, I had so much more in my paycheck.
Host Susan
I was like, yeah, welcome to Texas, y'. All. That is so funny. So you. You guys, we got to get back to wedding talk here. Do you. I know you haven't planned anything, but, Jess, I got to ask you. Do you even have an idea of what you want your dress to be like? You know?
Jess
I do not. I don't have an eye. I. I know that there's specific things that, like, I definitely like, you know, these. This little area right here, I want that hidden. So I don't know what kind of dress does. It's going to be a winter wedding, Susan.
Host Susan
For a winter. Y' all can't see what Jess just did. What she pointed to was, like, the little area by your upper arm and shoulder and I by that stand over the tank top. So by that standard, Susan, you and I need to wear paper bags that started our neck and cover right down
Susan
to our feet for yourself. I'm always hot. I need next to nothing.
Jess
That is just. And also, I will say this, too, so this is very specific as well, that I definitely will be happening at our wedding. So, you know, typically, like, if you're looking at the bride and groom like you're in the audience, the bride is usually on the left. Oh, I can't believe you're saying this. We're switching that. Yeah, we're switching out.
Susan
I do weddings.
Jess
My left side.
Susan
I do weddings, as you know. And one couple said, no, no, no, why would we. We can't see him. I want to see him. The groom side. So they sat on the opposite side. I think it's a brilliant idea.
Jess
No, no, no.
Host Susan
That's not what she's saying. She's going to stand on the right side.
Jess
I'm going to stand on the right side.
Spencer
Is her good side.
Host Susan
Yeah.
Jess
I was like, I am not going to settle for hating every single one of my wedding pictures because my right side is the one loud.
Susan
You're.
Jess
So we're switching it.
Host Susan
Okay.
Susan
What about a bridal party? Do you want a big, huge wedding or, like, really popular right now is not even having anybody.
Spencer
We have talked about that, too. We're like, do we want to do more intimate, like, destination wedding or. They're funer with everyone. We're definitely going to have to do something close to Tennessee.
Jess
Yeah.
Host Susan
For her.
Spencer
Mama.
Jess
Mama. Yeah. She doesn't fly. And she'll. She'll be. She's fine on a longer drive. But also, like, I just think it would be so pretty. I'm from Upper East Tennessee, so it's like mountains and it's beautiful. Yeah. So we'll. We'll most likely do Tennessee, but I don't know. We're still. We're still open.

Roald Dahl Podcast Host
You know Roald Dahl, the writer who thought up Willy Wonka, Matilda and the bfg. But did you know he was also a spy?
Jess
Was this before he wrote his stories? It must have been.
Roald Dahl Podcast Host
Our new podcast series, the Secret World of Roald Dahlia is a wild journey through the hidden chapters of his extraordinary, controversial life.
Did you know Dahl got cozy with the Roosevelts, played poker with Harry Truman, and had a long affair with a congresswoman. And then he took his talents to Hollywood, where he worked alongside Wall Street, Walt Disney, and Alfred Hitchcock before writing a hit James Bond film. How did the Secret Agent wind up as the most successful children's author ever? And what darkness from his covert past seeped into the stories we read as kids? The true story is stranger than anything he ever wrote. Listen to the Secret World of Roald Dahl on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Spencer
I actually drop better when I'm high. It heightens my senses, calms me down. If anything, I'm more careful. Honestly, it just helps me focus.

You'll even get to meet my mum. That one who I can always count on to keep my feet on the ground.
Jess
I'm not too intimidated by her.
Anna Sinfield
What are you talking about? Listen to the girlfriend Spotlight on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
Host Susan
I have a very important question. Two things. You know how wedding parties like the, the new thing is to not have a wedding party. That's, that's a new trend. So, but here's my question. Those two pups of yours have to be in the wedding.
Jess
Oh, they will be.
Spencer
They will.
Host Susan
My daughter had their, her dog.
Spencer
That's also my business. So I'm in the pet business.
Jess
Yeah, that's right.
Spencer
That's bad for business if we don't have pets at the wedding.
Jess
Like I already thought about like we're gonna hire a dog sitter to like it. You gotta be there for the ceremony.
Spencer
Yeah.
Host Susan
Oh yeah. Wait, aren't the dogs gonna be at the ceremony?
Jess
Well, yes, yes, yes.
Host Susan
My son in law's boxer. They have a boxer together. The dog literally walked up the aisle with a handler.
Jess
Oh, that's amazing.
Spencer
I don't know if I could train Rue to do that. She's pretty defined. She's smart.
Susan
I have a wedding coming late August in Northern California. It's two women and their dogs. They each have a dog and they're the ring barriers. The both dogs are bringing up a ring. I go, are you serious? Do you trust them?
Spencer
I see the one thing I am worried about too, her finding enough bridesmaids to match how many brothers who don't have any? Between me, it's me and my three brothers. So there's four of us. Us and then at least three. Three or four friends for sure that are going to.
Jess
And I have no siblings, but that's okay. I have. I have my best friends and I have plenty of cousins, so.
Host Susan
So wait, would you have. Who are your best friends from Bachelor? Would any of those people be in a wedding party?
Jess
Oh, wedding party. Leia for sure will be.
Host Susan
Yeah.
Susan
Yeah. Do you keep in touch with anybody else or.
Spencer
Yeah, we keep in touch with like Alex and Andrew. Yeah, we talk to pretty frequently. I talk to Jonathan.
Jess
Leia is my girl. I talked to Caitlyn from my season. I talked to Lexi from. Also from my season.
Spencer
Katie will talk.
Host Susan
Yeah.
Spencer
Because they're really cool. Actually. That's why we need to visit Austin.
Host Susan
Oh, no, no, no. You need to visit Austin for me
Spencer
and Zach and Katie and then my. One of my. My best friend. So outside of my two best friends that live here, my other best friend was on Hannah Brown season long time ago. So we were friends before he was on the show or I was on the show, but so I guess technically that counts, but. Yeah. Yeah.
Host Susan
Wow, that's amazing.
Susan
So what do you hope 2026 brings?
Spencer
Oh, I have a lot of hopes for 2026. What about you, babe?
Jess
Honestly, just like. Well, when it comes to us together, just like our growth as a couple and I think also like I'm just so excited to spend all the different things together. Like like our first birthdays together and just like I am such a like memory person. Like I love making memories and. Yeah, yeah. New traditions, like old all things. And also like we want to visit a couple new places this year later in the year later.
Spencer
Really lucky with we have some flights we have to use before the end of the year.
Jess
Yes.
Spencer
I think we'll be.
Host Susan
Where are you going?
Spencer
Adventures.
Host Susan
Where are you going? You know.
Spencer
Well, one of them's a surprise because it. We are surprising our moms. Our moms on a trip.
Host Susan
Yeah, I can't Susan.
Spencer
I don't sleep on and then.
Host Susan
But do your moms know that they're being surprised?
Spencer
They know that.
Jess
They know that they're going on a trip.
Spencer
They don't know where they're going.
Host Susan
Moms know each other now.
Jess
They haven't met in person yet, unfortunately, but on FaceTime plenty of times.
Susan
They're gonna know each other. Dad's home. No Dad's allowed.
Jess
Well, both of our parents are divorced.
Susan
Oh, okay.
Jess
You have to do separate.
Susan
Yeah, I was gonna say Spence and three women.
Spencer
It wouldn't be. It'd be awkward with both.
Jess
Yeah.
Susan
Well, never mind.
Spencer
And so we have that. And then we. We've looked at either Greece.
Jess
Yeah.
Spencer
Or Italy.
Jess
Or soul.
Spencer
Or soul.
Jess
We have some big. We just have to sit down and actually plan it. But we're going to go on some
Susan
adventures this year for you.
Spencer
And then we have the Bachelor Nation cruise coming up as well.
Host Susan
Yeah, we're all going to be there. We're all going to be. I know.
Spencer
That's going to be so fun.
Jess
My mom actually is going to be on that. So you'll be.
Susan
And they expect us to work. I don't see how.
Host Susan
Once we start.
Spencer
Wait, so I was telling her that. I was like, yeah, I can't wait for the cruise. I'm gonna like, hang out with the guys. She's like, you're gonna be working. I'm like, I'm gonna be working. I'm gonna be hanging out.
Susan
We're gonna be late for work.
Spencer
Yeah, I'm gonna be calling in to work.
Host Susan
No, Spencer, you're gonna be calling.
Spencer
Here's.
Host Susan
This can be Spencer. Okay, everyone, listen. Guy. He's gonna be calling the big guy.
Spencer
That's gonna be Spencer will be fun because one of the bigger things we have planned is the Chicago marathon.
Jess
Oh, as in he and I'll be there with the sign.
Spencer
Yeah.
Host Susan
Well, I saw. Wait a minute.
Spencer
I saw.
Host Susan
You're running.
Spencer
Yeah. For autism speak. So that'll be really, really fun. Yeah.
Host Susan
Are you a marathon runner, Spencer?
Spencer
Oh, yeah. I've ran for three ultramarathons, so. In Arizona.
Susan
Wow.
Spencer
Yeah.
Susan
I would follow him in the car. Jess. With some water.
Jess
Yeah.
Susan
Yeah.
Jess
I'm gonna be the pig.
Host Susan
But didn't you start running?
Jess
Oh, I did. Okay. So that actually is. So the only time I've ever ran is I cheered in high school. And so we would have to condition in the summer. But like we would run around the track a couple times. Like maybe go a mile. And like we had our first.
Spencer
We had our first track run on Thursday.
Jess
Well, because he Goes all the time. Like, literally, y'. All. On Saturday, he set an alarm for. What was it, 4 or 5? It was 4am he set an alarm because his friends were. Are training for a different race and he wanted to go get some miles in with them. And he just ran a casual 15 miles on Saturday morning for fun, to go hang out with the boys.
Spencer
17, but.
Jess
Oh, 17.
Host Susan
My bad, my bad, my bad. But do you remember at the beach, Spencer, you. I. I was always on the beach working out, and you would.
Spencer
And Spencer, you are in every morning.
Jess
He would run and I'd be the last one.
Spencer
Fun story for all the podcast listeners here. Kathy liked to go on walks and not tell anyone she was leaving. Disappear for like three hours. So. So one morning, production came up to me and goes, we can't find Kathy. We know you like to run. Can you go run and find her, let us know where she is? So I'm running up the beach looking for Kathy. She was five miles.
Susan
Oh, yeah.
Spencer
Down the beach, five miles.
Susan
That's her everyday walker.
Host Susan
I walk five miles every day.
Spencer
And I'm well aware.
Host Susan
I didn't know I was getting into trouble. Trouble. And then. And then you guys would go off and run. And I was like, you know me, like, what's fair? So I was like, wait a minute, Spencer's going out and running. They said, well, you know, they're safe and they. They're training. I was like, what am I doing? Chop liver. I wanted one. So, yeah, you're right. He do you. And you found me.
Spencer
Hey, the thing is, you're much more valuable to the show than me, so they have to keep you safe. So I was yo retrieve Kathy.
Jess
I never knew any of this was going on because I was the last person to show up every single morning.
Host Susan
Like, oh, I know.
Jess
I would be laying in bed until they were like, jess, everyone is out there except you.
Susan
Get off to go.
Jess
And I'm like, damn it.
Host Susan
And let me just say, Jess wakes up, rolls out of bed, and looks as beautiful as she does right now.
Spencer
How lucky am I?
Host Susan
Yeah, how lucky are you? All right, wait, I have to ask. Speaking of paradise, perfect segue here. What's something you'd love to see happen at the beach next season? I would love to know. And is there anyone besides Kathy here who should get another shot at paradise?
Spencer
First off, Kathy and bring Keith back to. We need to bring Keith back as well, I was about to say. And then I would love for my man Jonathan to be able to go on there and find someone Yeah, I, I, Jonathan's a really good guy and I think that it might just not have been the right, you know what I.
Jess
To see happen.
Spencer
She wants drama. What do you want?
Jess
No, no, no, no. Not true. I would like to see us show back up and give some couple advice.
Susan
Yes.
Host Susan
You know what?
Susan
I think that's a great idea.
Host Susan
I think it's a great idea.
Jess
I think it's a great idea.
Host Susan
I think it's a great idea. What do you think?
Susan
With the new twist with all the money and I'm shocked.
Spencer
I will say I don't know how they replicate last season again this season because I think that it was shocked to us.
Jess
He had no clue.
Spencer
And I do think people would go on for a different. It would get to know each other right now.
Host Susan
Yeah.
Spencer
And lie about it and go on it. So I think think it would be hilarious.
Susan
That should be a one and done, huh?
Jess
One and done. Or like, at least like one. And then maybe do it again in a couple years when no one surprises.
Spencer
Yeah, Yeah. I just think it'd be tough. I think that, I think we got really lucky with the cast we had and the people there because with all the money being introduced, it could have gone a totally different direction. Yeah, I think.
Host Susan
Yeah.
Spencer
And yeah, no, I'm just, just. I was really happy to be, obviously.
Host Susan
Yeah. You know, Keith promised me he'd send me a quick 50 if we didn't go for the money, and I'm still waiting. My Becky custom.
Spencer
Pay up, man.
Host Susan
That's a joke. Now that's going to be the headline. That's a joke.
Jess
Yeah, we're all going to be on Facebook after question.
Host Susan
Wait, I have one more question about paradise.
Susan
Okay.
Host Susan
Tell me about Dale and cat breakup.
Susan
You read my mind.
Host Susan
Oh, sorry. Oh, look, all of a sudden they got quiet.
Jess
Well, you know what?
Spencer
I was here. Dallas.
Jess
We got all, we got all the tea just a couple weeks.
Spencer
By we, we mean she did. Yeah.
Jess
And you know what? I think that, like, obviously there's two sides to every story, but I just think at the end of the day, like, like there wasn't time being made for the relationship on Dale's side, and so I think that, you know.
Host Susan
Oh, you mean. Wait, I'm sorry, after paradise, you're talking about.
Jess
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Wait, are you talking about during.
Host Susan
No, no, no. I, I, No, I'm with you. I just. When you said time for the relationship, I didn't know if you meant pre.
Jess
You mean after the fact. I just think that, like, he and there's you know, a lot more of opinions that I have but I'm going to keep them to myself in that matter but because I just, I don't want to be involved in the drama but I want what's best for Kat. She wasn't being treated the way that she deserved and like don't settle.
Host Susan
Yeah.
Susan
No. And she put up with a lot I thought.
Host Susan
Yeah.
Jess
I just think that like yeah, he just, he wasn't putting time and effort in Fair enough. Relationship and like it. It's hard. You have to be able to do that. I mean take it from us, like we were living in two different places. We both have full time jobs like along with like our relationship and doing, trying to do influencing like there's so many different things and like if you're not able to put time into someone, it's not going to work out.
Susan
All right, that does it for today's episode but we'll be back for part two with Jess and Spencer later this week. This is an I heart podcast.
Jess
Guaranteed human.
