Kathy
Welcome back to Golden Hour. I'm Kathy.
Joan
And I'm Joan, filling in this week for Susan again. And Kathy, we're. We are so happy to have you back. We just did a great interview last week with Hakeem and his new fiance, Monica. Not really fiance yet, but I mean,
Kathy
oh yes, they are because of hard launch them.
Joan
Right?
Kathy
He asked her to marry her. He asked her to marry him on our podcast. So they are officially engaged. And I don't know about you, Joan, but, you know, Hakeem has been on our podcast a few times. I've seen him at different times, bachelor events. I know you have. Does it just make your heart warm that he and Monica have gotten back together? They're having this baby. They just seem so happy together.
Joan
They really do. You know, I think that I kind of fell in love with Hakeem when he was just so openly terrified of spiders on his season. He was hilarious. He just has such a great sense of humor. But we see this whole other side of him because we haven't seen him fall in love and now we see him as a boyfriend, as a fiance, as a father to be. And there's this whole Hakeem that we are getting to know right now. And I love this Hakeem. I loved him before. I really love this one.
Kathy
Yeah. And I will tell you, I used to tease him because he and I are both very gregarious and I've never, never met a stranger. And I said, I've said to him before, there's a whole other side to Hakeem. All the bravado, all the jokes, all the laughing, the fast talking. There is a kind, warm side to you. And you can't fool me. And I think we saw it in spades on the podcast, so we really did.
Joan
But I think Monica brings it out, brings it him of him. He. He seemed like, he seems like, he, like he's such a caregiver. And she on like kind of this.
Kathy
That's a dirty word to me right now, Joan.
Joan
I know you're right because we're. We're going to get into that big time. But I just feel like Monica and he, like, have such a natural rapport with each other. Like, it's not like they're not working at it at all. They were like, we're kind of meant to be. I feel like.
Kathy
Yeah, well, she's deer. She is lovely. I think they're gonna be great parents. And their story is so sweet.
Joan
I love it and so true for so many people. I'm glad that they have been so open about sharing it. That takes a lot of maturity and a lot of kind of putting their. Their life out there in the open. And I love that they are brave enough to do that. They. The two of them are brave, too.
Kathy
Yeah. I mean, they're not worried. They weren't. They were very open about how racism has affected their relationship, just how they want a parent, the fact that they're having a child, just all of it. They're very open. And I just think she's a great addition to Bachelor Nation.
Joan
She really is.
Kathy
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Joan
And soon, soon, their little baby girl, Marlee Marie. Marlee Marie. Okay, but I think that we need to get to talk about you. And I know you hate talking about yourself, but you're going to have to tell us about this journey that you were just on. You and I spoke. We spoke a couple times last week. You told me how sick you were. I had no idea, which is unlike us because we talk a lot. And I feel like it was a really scary situation. I know. You said it was. And I felt scared for you. Do you feel comfortable sharing some of the details on, like, what happened?
Kathy
I do. So I'm one of these strange people that when someone else is sick, I am right there. What can I bring you? How can I take care of you? But when it's me, I'm not so good at that. I like to just bury myself into a hole. So basically what happened? I hate saying basically, but here's what happened. I woke up and felt really sick. And I never run a fever. And I was running a fever and felt really ill. And as the day went on, I became more and more ill until. But I didn't realize how ill until I called my daughter and said, I need to go to the hospital.
Joan
And what time was that?
Kathy
I'm not sure. I think I was at nighttime. 5:30 in the. Oh, it was nighttime. I just can't remember. It was eight or ten o' clock at night because by then my fever was so high. Time sort of just. And I didn't realize my daughter came over and I Mean, this part was funny, except I was too sick. She said to me, mom, did you get your lips injected? And I couldn't even talk. By that point, I couldn't talk. And when I got to the hospital, they thought I'd had a stroke, which
Dietz and Watson Brand Representative
I did not have.
Kathy
But my lips. My whole face was inflamed. My lips. So I was admitted. They diagnosed me with having pneumonia.
Joan
So could you hold on one second? So you let yourself. Now, this is so you, Kathy, and I hope you learned a lesson from this, because you let yourself go from morning 5am to it's dark outside, which means it's at least nine, just letting that fever grow and get worse and get worse and get worse to the point where you were hardly able to advocate for yourself.
Kathy
So let me just jump ahead. You're absolutely right. But I went down so quickly, and I couldn't. By the time I couldn't talk, I realized in that minute. And that's what I want people to know. It's no. It's no joke. It is damn right scary. When I got there, you know, my heart rate was dropping. My temperature was 102.7, and that was with Tylenol. I just was. I couldn't talk. And I could hear people talking about me, but I couldn't really respond. And so in that moment, I realized I literally. Not to sound ridiculous, I thought this might be the end of the road for me, but I couldn't talk. I just. And so I think.
Joan
So you were just in their hands. You're like, just do what you need to do. I cannot advocate for myself at all.
Kathy
Well, so I couldn't. But here's the thing. When my. When my parents were sick or my children were sick, I know you'll. You know, this comes as a shock, Joan, but I am very vociferous. I am like, let's talk to me. What are we going to do? I want a game plan. I don't sit back and say, they're the doctors. They know. Uh, but I. In that moment, I was so sick. I couldn't. Couldn't. I couldn't advocate. I couldn't talk. And so, you know, they had me hooked up to heart. My heart rate kept dropping. They didn't know. They didn't know where the swelling came from. They didn't know why I couldn't talk.
Joan
I know. I know there was a point there that you were not giving great care because you didn't go to the hospital at first. You did not go to the hospital. You went to an urgent care.
Kathy
Well, but. But I have to say I thought I had flu or Covid, because I had a fever. I was throwing up, and that's what started. And then I became, you know, semi conscious. So. But I really thought I had flu or Covid. So my daughter, God love her, had I been cognizant when he said it wasn't Covid. I could hear him, but I couldn't respond. Get me out of here and take me straight to an er, to a hospital, which finally my son, who is, you know, an emt, and he. My daughter woke him up and his wife, and they came to this standalone er, which, you know, I can't say enough bad things about it because this guy took advantage of me and kept running testing. Finally, my son said, we're leaving now. Give me the papers. I'm driving. He literally said to me, I heard it. He said, if you drive yourself to the hospital, you could die on the way.
Joan
So this is scary, though. This is really scary. I'm so glad you're telling the story that this doctor chose to keep you there and continued to run tests until you were so sick that he thought you could die on the way to the hospital.
Kathy
Exactly.
Joan
Bad care.
Kathy
Such bad care. And, you know, I'm going to write. I don't typically write nasty things, but I am going to on use my social media platform because that place should be closed down, because when they got me there, they couldn't. They hooked me up. I can't even tell you. I had heart monitors everywhere. I had. They started iv. I don't know, because I was basically not unconscious, but I couldn't do anything, and. And the fever was so high. So, yeah, it was a miserable time at the hospital. The nurses were great. Everyone took great care of me, but I just. I think what I learned was things can go south very quickly.
Joan
Really fast.
Kathy
Yeah, very quickly. And I did not. You know, that's the sad thing about living alone. You know, you. You. And I'll be honest, I hated to bother my kids.
Joan
Yeah, I know. We all feel that way. We don't want to be a burden on them. I don't want to be a burden. It's nighttime. I know. Your daughter has a kid.
Kathy
You didn't want to bother your child.
Joan
Thank God you did.
Kathy
She did say, mom, I wish you'd called me earlier. But, yeah, I didn't know how sick. You know? You don't know what you don't know.
Joan
I know. So tell me. So tell me. So you got to the hospital and you had this really high temperature, but you're, it sounds like you have very odd symptoms. So when you usually have pneumonia, you're short of breath, you, you know, there's other things. You might have a high temperature, but you can normally talk. Did they suspect anything different? I mean, you said they suspected a stroke. What was it? And they asked, obviously you didn't have a stroke.
Kathy
No, but they, I don't know what they did. I can't tell you. But they somehow ruled out a stroke. Yeah, my kids kept saying no. They, My kids kept saying, my mom's really fit. She walks five miles a day. She. Because my heart rate was very low. Although when it dropped to 43, that's not normal. Great athletes, you know, Brady, Brady, whatever. It's like in the 50s. My normal heart rate's about 60, 62. But. So, yeah, I don't know. In retrospect, it was one of the scariest things. And I told you this, Joan, on the phone, but it was the only. I'm nothing if not a dedicated worker. Because I was trying to tell my daughter to reach out to the producers to say I couldn't do my podcast last week, which is why you and Jonathan did it, but I couldn't. Their names are hard to pronounce. And so apparently she figured it out because she did. Even though. But that was my concern. Not that I was dying, but that I couldn't do the podcast.
Joan
I, I have to say when, when I got the message asking if I could do, if I could sub in for you or that I was already subbing in for Susan, they told me Jonathan was going to be subbing in for you. I thought, that is so unlike Kathy. I was like, she must be really, really.
Kathy
I didn't want, you know, I didn't want. I don't. Honestly, as gregarious as I am and as talkative, I'm more of a take care of person. I don't, you know, I don't want to make a big to do about me. And so I didn't want people to know because I didn't want people, you know, what can I do? What can I do? Because I just say to you, it is, it's no joke. First, I have not been, I've been out of the hospital now a few days and I was there for five days and they were going to send me home. My heart rate kept dropping and, you know, it wasn't fun.
Joan
You're a sick girl if they're keeping you for five days. They don't keep you in the hospital for five days. Can I ask you a question about this though? So you said that the fact that you live alone made this maybe a little more scary when you look back on it Does. Did your age also make this scarier? Because I know that things.
Kathy
No, because it should, Joan. Because pneumonia when you're over the age of 60 is a serious people. Oh, that's the other thing people kept saying. I remember they kept asking my kids, did she have the pneumonia vaccine? Which I did have. But this pneumonia was some rare pneumonia, you know, whatever that wasn't affect the shot would not affect it. I am not an anti vaxxer. I know some people out there are, but mazel. Good for you. That's not my thing. But.
Joan
Are you short of breath?
Kathy
I don't know, because I couldn't really. Yeah, I guess I. It was like an out of body experience. I can't explain it to you. I couldn't answer really answer questions very much. And like I remember my son and his wife, my daughter in law came. I thought they were there, but I wasn't sure but. And I couldn't eat. I couldn't. It just. It was very, very strange. They don't know. They call it idiopathic. Which means I don't know, you know. So I guess I can go. I can go to medical school. I can be a doctor. But I can. I will tell you, Joan, I can read every screen. I know what they mean. I know what the monitors. You know. I know, I know. I know when you have to go to the bathroom. I had like four things that had to be disconnected. And I know you'll find this a shock. I said to the nurses, even though I was really sick, once I could talk. I said, look, you guys have sick patients in here. Just teach me how to unplug all this so I can go to the bathroom and not have to bother you. And so they did. They taught me how. But what they didn't tell me. One of the heart monitors I had like. I can't tell you, I had like. What do they call them? Those things that are stuck on your skin?
Joan
Yeah, yeah, the sensor thingies.
Kathy
Sensors, thank you. On my legs, on my chest. So many of them. And the way you unplug it is from this heavy couple of pound device. You just. Well, I thought that's what you did. So I unplugged it and went to the bathroom and got back in bed. And then they came in to check and they said, why is there five minutes like they said, you know you could have been dead. And I said, well, I'm not dead. And no one came running, so you might want to check this.
Joan
I was unhooked for five minutes.
Kathy
I was unhooked. I didn't know. I had no clue what the. So I just unplugged the damn thing. Of course, you know, I am fine. No one need worry. My kids were amazing. I will say to you, I will never mess around if I have a fever the next time I'm going straight. Because by the way, I'm on Medicare and this standalone emergency room does not accept Medicare. So it cost me when I tell you an arm and a leg. A vacation for what they did in there. And I couldn't advocate and say, stop, get me to a hospital.
Joan
Yeah, this isn't. You're not. This isn't working here.

Joan
let me ask you a question about. Okay. You're laying there, you know, you are sick as a dog. You're thinking, this could be it.
Kathy
Yeah.
Joan
Did that.
Kathy
I'm thinking it's my will in order.
Joan
Yeah. But did you. Were you laying there thinking, like, I need to reevaluate some of the priorities in my life? Is there something that you thought when you had this moment that you're bringing, like, you're taking away from it now?
Kathy
I couldn't think that deeply, Joan. Honestly, I just, I couldn't. I was just lying there, coming in and out, like, hearing things. Try. I know I didn't. I.
Joan
Okay, how about now? Like, okay, so now you've now looked back on it a little bit.
Kathy
I look back and I, I am grateful that I have family. You know, my. I have a son and daughter and both married who live here. And, you know, they came running and, and I so appreciate that. It makes me. If I'm being really honest with you, which I always am, it makes me sad that I don't have someone in my life that could have been there for me.
Joan
Right.
Kathy
I will say some people that I thought would reach out didn't very, you know, so. But again, it's just, I, it. That's not the point of this whole thing. The point for me was, you know, I got sick. I don't know why.
Joan
Yeah. Crazy.
Kathy
I just have to.
Joan
Went down quickly.
Kathy
It went down really quickly.
Joan
So fast.
Kathy
And I came back relatively quickly, you know, relative. And now I'm, I'm. I don't have my energy back. Like I said, I haven't been back to the gym yet. I'm taking it slow because, you know, I don't, I don't want to go back to the hospital. I don't want to repeat.
Joan
No, no, no, no, no.
Kathy
Yes.
Joan
When I talked to you last week, you had even lost your appetite. And like, that happens to a lot of people. Is that better? Are you feeling a little better about that? Huh?
Kathy
Not great. I mean, you know, I, I, I, you know, me and my humor. It's like you want to lose a quick £9. Go to.
Joan
There you go.
Kathy
I haven't been this thin, you know, and they, that's the other thing, Joan. They come in and weigh you in the hospital. I'm not kidding. At 2:30 in the morning, wake you up, stand you up on a scale. I guess because I was dropping weight so fast, I don't know. But I'm trying to eat, I'm trying to take care of myself. But I guess I am grateful for family and people who love me. If I'm being honest, I don't like that I don't have someone in my life to, you know, to share the sick, the good times and the bad times.
Joan
Right, right, right. To have a caregiver or person who would have recognized this as you were going down.
Kathy
Right. Who would have said, oh, no, we're not playing this game.
Joan
You're getting worse.
Kathy
Yeah. And you understand in that moment, like I said, when my daughter said, did you get your lips injected? I was like, what? Like I really sounded drunk.
Joan
Yeah.
Kathy
But when I looked at. She goes, have you not looked in the mirror? No, because.
Joan
No, I haven't gone to bed.
Reef Brand Representative
Yeah.
Joan
And you're probably totally dehydrated. I mean, like all those things that you need to be taking care, especially when you have a temperature, you are any of those things. And you just tanked.
Kathy
I was trying to drink. But, you know, you get behind very quickly. And that's. Honestly, I really thought I was going to go to this standalone er. They were going to take COVID test, a flu test. They were going to give me whatever that table flu and, and put a bag of fluid in me to hydrate me and then say, go home and take Tylenol. That's where I thought this was way
Joan
worse than what you were thinking.
Kathy
But you know what? I am grateful I'm here. I'm grateful to be back at my podcast. I'm grateful that you are here subbing in for Susan. I'm grateful for all the people that have sent me well wishes. And those of you who are over 60, please take a lesson from me. If you find yourself ill, it's like being an infant and being ill. It can go bad really quickly.
Joan
So quickly.
Kathy
So don't sit there and play around with it. Get to an er. The worst thing that can happen is they say, you're fine, go home. Whatever. The downside is so much worse. And I was stupid. I. I fully admit it. I was absolutely an idiot. But I didn't know how sick I was. And that's.
Joan
I don't think you were. I think part of the problem is when you're that Sick. You just want to sleep, and so you sleep through you getting worse. So.
Kathy
Yeah, but I should have, you know, I'm a smart girl, Joan. I should have known when I couldn't talk, when I couldn't get up physically, couldn't get out of bed anymore. I should have, you know, I should have just called 91 1. I mean, it could have. And then hearing that guy say that
Joan
you could have died on the way
Kathy
if you didn't take the emergency. And my son stopped him right away and said, my son, who's. I said, who's an emt, Said, let's go get her in the car now. And, you know, just. We're out of here. And thank, you know, I'm thankful to my children.
Joan
Yeah. Thank you. Thank God he's an emt because, I mean, I think he probably felt pretty safe being in a car with him as opposed to somebody that had no medical training, so. So thank goodness your kids were there. Well, I just want to say that we love you. We are so happy you're back. We so happy that you're recovering. Let's move on to some fun stuff. What do you think?
Kathy
Okay. In case you missed it, Bachelor Nation news. Okay. There's so much going on while I was in the hospital and since then. Joan, have you watched Vanderpump Villa? I have not.
Joan
I haven't, but no. I kind of like, see snippets of it. I think the concept is so, so, so fun. And I heard so much about it on Secret Lives of Mormon Wives because there's a whole scandal that occurred. So I know a lot about it. But I did, you know, some of our Bachelor people are there this time. Finally, we have Bachelor was invited to the villa.
Kathy
And I mean, so I gotta say, it wasn't just Charity and Jess, Ariel, Mercedes, Sean, a couple other ones, but Maria, who is gone silent in our world. Right.
Joan
You know what? She always made a really good team for, you know, good tv. So I think she's going to be. I think she's gon star in Vanderbilt Villa. I'm dying to watch it. I certainly am going to. I love that Charity and Daughton are there. I love a strong couple being there because a lot of Vanderpump Villa is a lot of singles. And, you know, these, they, they are, you know, they are such a great representation of Bachelor Nation. A couple that has worked, a couple that's strong and. But still knows how to have fun. So I love that they are there. They celebrated birthday.
Kathy
It was his 33rd birthday, I think. Yeah. And I was like, well, that's one hell of a way to celebrate your birthday, right?
Joan
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think Maria maybe had, from what I understand, had a moment there. So I'm dying to see a Maria moment, because I haven't seen one in
Kathy
a while, and she just love our bachelor people. Don't you love it that they're.
Joan
I love it.
Kathy
And I mean, it should be, when do Golden's. When do Goldens get to go to Vanderpump Villa?
Joan
I. I. I really feel like we know how to, like, attend a dinner party and be entertaining. I remember years ago, someone said to me, when somebody invites you to a party, or especially to a dinner party where it's a smaller group, your job is to be, like, be worthy of being there. Be entertaining. Do something fun. Do you know, be part of the conversation. Make sure that you entertain. So I just want to, like, raise my hand and say, lisa Vanderpump, you and I met. I've met her one time. She sat next to me at an event. Like, we go way back, girl. And you should be inviting some Goldens to Vanderpump.
Kathy
Okay. And, Lisa, I've never met you, but there's no time like the present. And I know how to use a fish fork. I know what silverware is, which knife goes. Oh, yeah. My grandmother, truly, it was always, in case you ever go to the White House for lunch. Darlene, my dear, you must know. And so literally, she taught us all, you know, the forks, which one was which. So I can do it. I will not. I will make Bachelor Nation silverware.
Joan
Me, too. I'll make Bachelor Nation proud. I am. No, I. I did not grow up in a sophisticated home, but I do know which silverware I use. I didn't either. So I am ready. And I love good wine, girls, so I'm ready to come.
Kathy
Oh, by the way, can I just say one more thing about my hospital stay? You just reminded me.
Joan
Yeah, yeah. You didn't have wine.
Kathy
I have not had a drink now in I think it's 12 days. And you know what pisses me off? When they put you on these IV antibiotics. Antibiotics and God knows what else I've been on because I'm still on a bunch of pills. I have no taste for alcohol. Zero.
Joan
That's very sad. And I think we're gonna. I don't know what we're gonna do with you guys.
Kathy
So if I go to Vanderpump Villa, by then, I'll be. I promise you, I'll Be Dr. You know what?
Joan
I'll come in and we'll get you started. We'll take it slow. We'll take it slow because, you know, I'm a totally wimpy drinker, and I can only drink, like, a glass of wine.
Kathy
We'll still have fun. Done. All right. What else is in the news? What else you got?
Joan
Bachelorette. Brandon reveals he's really been talking to Jesse Draper from Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. What do you think about that?
Kathy
But he isn't. Well, he's. If I read it. All right. If I read my news, he's not talking to her. He's got a good friend who wanted to talk to Jeff.
Joan
Yes, the good friend is him.
Kathy
You think it is?
Joan
Yes, because that's like a whole code. Like, I have a friend.
Kathy
I'm old.
Joan
Oh, Kathy, I thought you knew that one. No, it's him. He's just saying, like, I have a friend who wants to meet you, and I have a friend. Do whatever. So. That is hilarious. Kathy, I. I can't believe that you didn't get it.
Kathy
That's what I actually. I love giving everyone a good laugh. I mean, I will say I thought for one second. Is. Is he talking about himself? I thought, no, he's. He's hooking. Because, see, that's what I would do. I'm being honest, Joan, if I knew a guy. Well, you're taken. But you know, I would hook somebody up if I. Hey, Nancy. Hey, Susan. Hey, Leslie. I got this guy. Let me get. And let you start texting. That's how naive I am. I would be like you would be
Joan
trying to do that. Well, for himself.
Kathy
Okay, well, here's what I'm gonna say to old Brandon. I think that it's two things I want to say. Number one, Brandon, if it is you, the fact that you said your friend that is yourself isn't a blonde, brunette, or redhead. Pick one guy. Pick one. Like number one. And number two, she's just coming off a divorce, is she not she.
Joan
Well, I'm not even sure she's divorced yet. I mean, she.
Kathy
That's my point. You want to be the get over guy, or do you want to be the next guy? Or you just want to have great sex? Whatever, Brandon. Whatever floats your boat. You know, you. Your friend and I, we can all get together, check out talk to Jesse.
Joan
Now the foursome.
Kathy
Yeah, now the foursome. Whatever.
Joan
Yeah.

Joan
I think Jesse is adorable. I think Brandon is gonna shoot his shot and do it any way he can figure out how.
Kathy
Is it too early to shoot his shot?
Joan
Yeah, maybe. But you know, we've only seen this kind of play out on tv. This could have happened, you know, months and months and months. Or a year ago, six months ago.
Kathy
Was she?
Joan
So I've watched the whole thing and their marriage has been rocky for a long time. Actually since she went on Vanderpump Villa.
Kathy
I know, I know it was rocky. But I mean, come on. I mean, I've never been divorced either of You. But it just doesn't seem like the. I know I'm gonna take so much heat for this and probably never get to go to Vanderpump Villa for saying this, but you know me. I gotta be honest. I'm sorry. If you just wanna hop in bed and have some great sex, go for it. Brandon. Friend. But if you're looking for a relationship. Blonde, Brunetta. Redhead, maybe give it a beat. You know, take a beat and just see what happens. Let her. Let her be single for a while.
Joan
I bet she has a lot of people that. That are trying to get to be with her. She's beautiful. She actually was really vulnerable on Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. She told her truth. She talked about, you know, kissing the guy at the Vanderpump Villa. I mean, she was super honest. I think that she endeared herself to a lot of people, and she's. And she was very accountable. I think she's a pretty cool girl. I've met her. I met her at jo.
Kathy
You just hobnob with everybody. I'm just a lowly podcaster here. You know, Joan's out there hanging with all the big
Joan
farmer wants a wife interviewer. I don't want to. I want to hear about you. They are adorable. I know. We should talk about that, too.
Kathy
All right, well, now that I've embarrassed myself, we're gonna see what happens with Brandon and Jesse. But I'm. I'm going with take a beat. Unless you just want a quick roll in the hay.
Joan
I say shoot your shot, Brandon. She's a catch.
Kathy
Okay.
Joan
All right.
Kathy
All right. How about now? This one. I have to say, I love Andrew Spencer and Alex so much. I love their relationship. I watched it bloom on Third Eye last summer. I talk with him on the phone. I love them, love them, love them. So the fact that he is DMing Justin Bieber and that he and his wife Hailey think that Andrew's the best thing since sliced bread. I mean, by association, I gotta tell you, by association, I know Justin and Haley because I feel the same way I am.
Joan
My mind is blown that Justin Bieber and Hailey watched the Bachelor. The Bachelor just went from the greatest show on earth to the greatest show in the universe. Because now we know Justin Bieber and Haley Bieber watch the show that we were on. I am like, I was speechless when I read this. I could not.
Kathy
Yeah, I was like, the guys got everything.
Joan
Don't you love that Justin Bieber took the time to DM like a person? That is just.
Kathy
Joan. Joan, there's called voice texting. Like, let's not say that the guy sat down for an hour and composed a love letter. Okay.
Joan
He did it at all. I mean, that. Even thought too, like, hey, I'm gonna send this guy a message. I'm Justin Bieber, and I'm gonna send him a message like. Like, I'm like the guy that lives
Kathy
down the street that, hey, I got a message from Brian Austin Green. You know, you're not the only one who hobnobs with the special people.
Joan
Yeah.
Kathy
Okay.
Joan
I have to ask you this, though.
Kathy
Yeah.
Joan
Do you think the Biebers watched our show?
Kathy
I think they watched my show.
Joan
Why would you say that?
Kathy
I'm just. Because I'm on drugs. I'm on. I'm on all kinds of drugs.
Joan
All right. Thank you, guys.
Kathy
I know.
Joan
I think I'm moving on.
Kathy
I think they probably. I don't know if they watched whose show. I mean, I don't know. I think people were very interested in the Golden Bachelor. I do. So I think the chances, honestly are good that they've watched, if not all of our seasons, portions of the three shows. That's what I think.
Joan
Yeah. I mean, they certainly probably watch the younger shows because they kind of relate to them better, more than ours. So I'm happy that they. They. I. I just love it that they watched Andrew Spencer. I. Because he just, like, had my heart. I re. I'll always remember that last time at. At. On paradise when he was surprised that Alex walked in. He was like, I thought you were going to take the money. Yeah. He just, like, he had my heart then. I don't know if. If Justin Bieber watched that. I don't know if you watched Bachelorette
Kathy
or Bachelor or just if you didn't go back and watch it. But before we leave, this whole thing, you know, because they were at Coachella, I. You know, this is, like, totally going off script. But, Joan, you, who are a fashion maven, I. Not so much.
Joan
Thank you.
Kathy
You are.
Dietz and Watson Brand Representative
See, I said the nice things.
Kathy
But here's my question. I was watching all the Bachelor Nation posts about all the crowds, you know, our friends and love, loved ones at Bachelor Nation at Coachella, and I'm like, is this a. Is this. This New York. Is this, like, Indio, California fashion week, or is this a music concert? Because I think it's all about what they had on. Like, those girls. I. I love their outfits. I almost said costumes. I loved what they had on. But, like, is it a. Is it a thing? I'm asking. I Don't know the answer. Is it a thing where. Who can outdo whom on the fashion plate thing for. For these. Because Stagecoach, I think, is this weekend or next weekend. Like, is that what this is about? Or is it about hearing music? Because the only music I. Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, a couple of the big names. Like, is it. What's it about? Tell me.
Joan
So I think all of the above. You know, I think it started out as a concert, and it became the place to go and be seen. I think that everybody is sending. Like, Bachelor Nation has people going. Secret lives have, you know, all of the shows, all the reality shows, all the. Everybody is sending. There are people there, and it's where you go to be seen. So you are going with your best outfits. And I think people, you know, shop for months deciding what they're wearing. I remember I watched Daisy, and she revealed all of what the outfits that she was bringing to Coachella, and each one was better than the next. And I was like, oh, my gosh. And I was having a hard time picturing them. And then I saw pictures with she and her fiance, and I was like, okay, that outfit so worked. You were so right about that outfit. Like, I mean, she's like, I'm gonna wear these with boots. I think I'm like, oh, really? So you and I do not. This is not our world. If they asked us, it would be. We would be dying, and we wouldn't know what to wear. And we.
Kathy
Yeah, well, it is. It is absolutely, Joan. The influencer Olympics. That is not by my. It is. But I'll tell you what, that is one Olympics I will not be attending. I actually have a friend, you know, you. He lives out there, a friend of mine, and he doesn't go, but if he did, he'd be in flip flops and shorts and a T shirt, and that's probably how I'd go and totally embarrass myself. But I just. I could not believe the incredible outfit.
Joan
So it's the place to be seen. If you are anybody, you are at Coachella these days, and that's. I mean, the music is taking almost a backseat to what they're wearing.
Kathy
I think you're right. You're either. Let me just say, you're either at Coachella or you're in a step down from intensive care in the hospital fighting pneumonia. It's one of the other.
Joan
You would have been there otherwise.
Kathy
I would have been there in my amazement. Exactly.
Joan
All right, everyone, that's it for part one. We're going to be back tomorrow answering some of your questions. See you soon.
