App, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, everyone, we're back. And welcome back to Golden Hour. Thanks so much for joining us again. Boy, do we have a show today for you.
B
How you doing today, Susan? Great.
A
Good. Kathy? Yes.
B
All right, we're here today. We are back to talk about the newest episode of the Golden Bachelor. And there is so much to discuss. I. I gotta start. We don't know where to start. Let's just say Bachelor Nation. Susan and I are not happy today. We are not happy after watch. That might be the understatement of the year, but I gotta say, the intro, when Robin, you know, you see her saying self serving, self promotion, she's not honest. I'm just gonna let you jump in because we are talking about first things first here. Let's talk about what we both think about our friend to be. Nicole.
A
Should we start with her, end with her? Because she might take the podcast.
B
Oh, no, I got other things. You go, go jump in.
A
Let me start with. Oh, my goodness, Nicole. Seriously, she's sitting there whispering about not dating Mel, but she's dating everyone in America. Those that are watching and aren't watching. It's about exposure. Then she sits down and tells the girls everything.
B
And one, she admits to wanting to be an influencer. Don't forget that, obviously.
A
And I am going to confront her when I meet her about how pretty they all are. But we weren't so great looking on our show. Really, Nicole?
B
Okay, so go ahead.
A
Why would you say something like that? I mean, obviously you're. You are there for the wrong reasons.
B
Okay, so bachelor has a phrase, right? Coming, doing these things for being there for the right reasons and being there for the wrong reasons. I have a medal that I want to give to Nicole. It says, you are there for all the wrong reasons. We're going to put it around her neck and. And Nicole, it is the first annual. But we may have to retire it with you. Just retire. It's yours.
A
Kathy. How about when she presented the lemon bars and took all the credit?
B
Okay, but wait. Let's. Let's. Again, here's my problem with Nicole. I'm sure she's lovely, and I'll tell you why I say that women should support women, and that is my problem. As a golden myself and as a golden who was on the Golden Bachelor, I have a real problem with a woman, any woman who's part of our tribe, part of the Bachelor family, saying pejorative, negative things about those of us who were on the show and that all of the comments that came out of her mouth tell me. I'm sure she's a lovely person, but the fact is it is not supportive to women. And that's what I really struggle with. It's like.
A
And to bold face lie everyone. We saw everybody working on the lemon bars in the kitchen. And honestly, she's full of shit.
B
Well, again, I'm gonna give her a.
A
Little bit of grace. That was a lie that she did all the work and it made it with the secret ingredient.
B
Yeah, well, it is good tv. Let's be clear.
A
And I'll give you that.
B
And to the extent that, that she's trying to get Mel's attention, they, you know, all's fair in love and war. I mean, I'm. I'm not. The behavior I have an issue with is being critical of other women and saying we didn't look as good. I think that sends the wrong message to people of. Of our age. And that's what I don't like.
A
And what do you look like? What you're showing America? This is who I am. I don't think that's very attractive. Beauty goes way further than a look.
B
Well, that's what.
A
I just suck in somebody's face. I'm sure I might like you, Nicole, when I meet you, and I might not.
B
Because, Nicole, let me just warn you, Susan's 100 Italian, and if she doesn't like you, you might just want to call in sick.
A
Just all the. And just playing a part to get somewhere is not what the Bachelor franchise stands for. This is supposed to be about love.
B
It's not only about love, Susan. That's where you and I disagree. I don't think. I think it is the framework. We all want people to fall in love. We all. Hopefully there's a wedding at the end, but I think it's about making friendships and connections.
A
But if you're Standing there bullshitting and calling everybody. They didn't do anything. It's all me. She's trying to shine. I think it's not attractive to me.
B
I think you're saying it's disingenuous. She's not being genuine to him. How many.
A
When they walked away together. And she goes, we are going to make good tv. What?
B
Well, and guess what, Susan. She's going to make really good tv. Here's the question. Do you want to make really good TV and maybe make a lot of enemies? Or is, you know, is there no. Is bad press still good press? I mean, whatever. I just have a problem with. With calling out women of a certain age because we don't looked the way they looked. Some of us did, some of us didn't. So I have a problem with that. I want to talk about the photo shoot.
A
I enjoyed that. That photo shoot. I loved when Cindy was rolling and they were all looking. But I couldn't help Debbie's face look so hurt. I mean.
B
Okay, so let's talk about that. I would love nothing more. Cindy and Mel rolling around on that beach. She looked fabulous in the bathing suit. Who wouldn't want to be with their guy rolling on a beach, making out in the, you know, golden hour in the. In the afternoon. What? Of course, it's tv, so of course there's a camera crew watching and filming. I mean, the women watching. Again, it's tv, so of course they're gonna have them watching so they can drool and say, I wish it was me. You know, I get that. But that, to me was like a lovely show of their love is growing and. And I liked seeing that.
A
It was like, not me as much as I like you. And he whispered back, that was so cute. She's just adorable.
B
The other photo shoot was Debbie in the. In as a beach bride. Given the fact that Debbie has never been married, I thought that was very sweet. It brought me back, though, to our season where Nancy was crying because she hadn't been in a wedding gown since her. Her wedding. People really struggled with those wedding gowns. In this case, I was like, oh, bachelor nation, you got this one. So right. First of all, it wasn't really a wedding dress. It was a white slip dress, kind of sexy, very pretty. Debbie's never been married. I thought, this is sweet. You know, it could be. Who knows how it ends up? It could be Debbie and Mel having a beach wedding. I thought that was a sweet, sweet moment. I love that.
A
Let's talk about Armel for a second. First of all, I get it. He wants to kiss every single one of them.
B
I disagree. His mark.
A
Well, I would want to kiss somebody.
B
I don't think he wants to kiss any of them. I don't think he wants.
A
I'm not talking about the kiss, but just the fact that he is kissing. Okay. And some of the things that he says afterward. He really loved that Nicole was all about him.
B
What man doesn't want to have it all about them?
A
Well, this is true. This is true.
B
I mean, that's, you know, men think with. They have two heads and usually they're thinking with the smaller of the two. Sorry.
A
All I know is what I've been told and that to have truth is a whole lie.
C
For almost a decade, the murder of an 18 year old girl from a small town in Graves County, Kentucky went unsolved until a local homemaker, a journalist and a handful of girls came forward with a story.
B
I'm telling you, we know Quincy killed her.
C
We know a story that law enforcement used to convict six people and that got the citizen investigator on national tv.
B
Through sheer persistence and nerve, this Kentucky housewife helped give justice to Jessica Curran.
C
My name is Maggie Freeling. I'm a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist producer, and I wouldn't be here if the truth were that easy to find.
A
I did not know her and I did not kill her or rape or burn or any of that other stuff that y' all said. They literally made me say that I took a match and struck and threw it on her. They made me say that I poured gas on her.
C
From lava for good. This is Graves County, a show about just how far our legal system will go in order to find someone to blame.
B
America, y' all better wake the hell up.
A
Bad things happens to good people and small towns.

We got to talk about. We've. We've the. The group date. When he said, hey girls, I literally threw my straw at the TV and said, hey girls, you know, come on, they're women I want to talk though about. So I think we've covered how we, how we both feel about Nicole. I can't wait to meet her. I'm going to, I'm just going to go with women supporting women. She said it maybe was taken out of context.
A
I loved Robyn, showed a lot of class that she was the one that said to Mel, not everyone's here for the right reason. And she didn't mention any names that kept it.
B
And then she went home.
A
Yes.
B
So you know what was she smart? I don't know.
A
You think that's why he sent her home?
B
Because I have no idea. I was not there. But I just am making a connection.
A
She.
B
She said something she wanted, but here I don't. I just have to be honest. One more thing about Nicole. I don't see them together. I. I think Mel to me looks a little bit like a deer in the headlights.
A
A little?
B
Doesn't. Well, he doesn't seem. I want to get into the date with Peg and this is my preamble for his one on one. Okay, well, here's my preamble on it. I think that for whatever reason, he is uncomfortable. I watch body language when he's hugging them or kissing them, he's sort of looking away, looking out. He doesn't really. Except with Cindy on the surf making out session. He seems to be into that. No pun intended.
A
He sucks face with Nicole real well too.
B
Yeah, but we can't really see his face when he's sucking face with Nicole. But the other women, when he's kissing them, his eyes are open. It. He seems stiff. I don't know what that's about. I'm not condemning him for it. I'm just when a man kisses me, and especially at our age. Come on, we know how to kiss. So I just find a lot. So that brings me to the one on one with Peg at the OC Fair. For those of you who don't know, OC Fair is the Orange county fair.
A
And she loved it.
B
She was so fun. She's so fun.
A
Yes, she's.
B
He talks about her high energy. She says she wants a strong man. I watch that. Peg reminds me of me in.
A
In some ways the words right out of my mouth. Yeah, she does that a lot. You know.
B
Rip them right out. Were you really gonna say you thought.
A
I like she reminded me of me because she was excitable and hyper and she was winning the games though she was a better athlete than I am. That part could be you.
B
Because she better than I.
A
And I love that she said, will you accept this bear or whatever?
B
Yes. And he said, we accept this monkey. Very cute. However, did you notice the awkwardness when she like put her arm that the essay used to call it the pregnant paws. Right. Like you think he's going to lean in and he doesn't. I didn't see I go back and watch Susan. He's. She's kind of encouraging him. We're women. We know how to do that. Right. She sort of puts her arm on him. She's leaning in. He's not leaning in. He says, I love her energy.
A
She loves that. She's Herself. Yes.
B
Yeah, herself. But I don't see him. I see him having a good. To me, it looks like he's having a good time with a Peg. Seems like a lot of fun. A good friend at the.
A
Though she was singing to him when they went to see Casey in the sunshine.
B
I think he. What did you just say?
A
What did you see in the sunshine?
B
She was singing to him.
A
He's looking. She knew the words, Kathy. He didn't.
B
No. My point is he's looking at her like, yeah, you having fun? Like, I don't see him, you know, putting his arms around her, snuggling into her, kissing her during the music.
A
Yeah, he pulled her in. He pulled her in. I think that's Mel. I don't think he's the forward. He's waiting for them to come to him because he's sitting back and he's trying all the flavors until he makes his decision.
B
Yes. We're almost halfway through the show and I don't. Other than Cindy, other than Cindy and that make out session, I'm not. I. I want to see him. I think Peg is a blast. I keep telling you, I want her head of hair, if I'm being honest. I want her head of hair and I want her cleavage. Okay, that's. I've said it. But she seems like a blast. But I just don't see him engaging at the same level she is.
A
Do you. And have you seen him engage at any other. Other woman's level?
B
No. That's why I say to you, I. It may just be him seems a little stiff, almost like he doesn't know how to proceed, which I find interesting given that he was a. An NFL player. So he definitely was in the public eye. Now he's a sports attorney, so he's. He's used to being around people. Yet I feel like he's a little off. I feel like he needs us. Susan, here's the deal. You need Susan and me to come and give you the. Susan and Kathy, the gold men.
A
We really do.
B
I mean, I mean, I guess that's what I'm saying. You know, he. He said that. I don't see him being as vulnerable, I guess is what I would like. And to your point where the show is about finding love. That obviously is one of the main points. I'm not. It should be. I'm not seeing him being as vulnerable as I would like.
A
I don't think he. He got hit with the. The heartache yet he hasn't attached himself. He. I don't see.
B
That's what I'm agreeing.
A
He's not really falling in love yet for us to what we're viewing. Maybe something secret inside and he has a good way of hiding it, but he's just going with the flow. The women are doing everything, but that's also part of the show. You've got to show him. And I noticed a lot of them are starting to open up. They're starting to. I'm getting feelings for you. And so on.
B
Two things that I wrote down that I. About Peg. I agree with everything you just said. Mel Cedra which it's the things that I hear on the tv. And you're right, we don't see it all. But when Mel said to her, I can't get in the way of your fun, I felt like you're going to laugh. I felt like it was two toddlers with parallel play and she was the toddler having fun. It's like he said, I don't want to get in the way of your fun. I thought that was so like it's about a one on one date to see if you have a connection. But he's saying I don't want to get in the way of your fun. Like that's not.
A
Well, Peg was definitely the aggressor and I loved every minute of it. When she was at the concert singing.
B
Well, that's because you come in to.
A
Dance, you know, like, let's go, Mel. Let's go. Show me something, Mel. What do you got?
B
Well, I am. I'm waiting to see it.
A
I mean, but is he boring? Is that it? Maybe he's uncomfortable because he is on national TV and microphones are everywhere. You know, maybe dating like he's.
B
Maybe. But you think he'd be used to it by now. I think it was Peg who said it's another. These overarching themes for me this season. She said she felt safe with him, I believe. And I just keep thinking, I don't know where that's necessarily coming from because I'm just being honest. I haven't met Mel. I want to meet him. I'm sure, you know I'll love him to pieces if I were dating him, if I were on that one on one date. And I have that outgoing personality. I want a guy who puts his arm around me, who tells me how glad he is that we have this time. I want him to kiss me. I want the. I sound like Susan Knowles here. I want those romantic aspects. And I'm getting like. Like I said, two toddlers, sandbox.
A
Romantic aspect on. On the boardwalk. I mean, at the fair. You know what I mean?
B
When they're behind the. At the music, at the.
A
Well, that's.
B
Yes, I'm saying there could have been this romantic. I don't know. I'm not feeling it. I'm not seeing it.
A
Have you seen something that you're feeling with him, with somebody else?
B
Have you seen the only person I am. I mean, I think.
A
Debbie.
B
Cindy, for sure. I just. I just feel that. And seen him make out with her in the. You know, I like you as much as you like me. I think that Carol. I think he's intrigued by Carol's shyness. You know, I think he. Or maybe he just feels, you know, simpatico. Maybe because that's. Maybe that's the way he is.
A
And there are things in common with the sports and such. Yes.
B
I think that he likes Debbie. Just. I think that he thinks she's sweet, you know, I think.
A
And Cheryl.
B
And they had the one Cheryl. I mean, that's the thing. I see four, five, six women, Jerry.
A
Like, I was surprised. Look, should we get to the rose part of this? Did you guess? Did you have a feeling who was gonna leave? Wait, I kind of did last night.
B
Yes, I did. Wait, one other thing that Debbie said to him. And I love. You know, I don't know. Again, I don't know why. Can you just say overarching theme again? Did you find it. I found it extremely interesting. In this day and age where we all see color, let's be clear. We, you and I, walk with that white backpack of privilege. You know, I shouldn't speak for you, but I certainly do. I would date a black man. I, you know, my kids have dated interracially. I don't have a problem with it, but that is certainly something that is newer to generations preceding us. Would you agree?
A
Yes, I do.
B
Okay. So when Debbie brings up the fact that Mel's dad was black, or half black, whatever, and asks him about his mom, I found that I wanted to celebrate that. Like, I, I, I want Bouncer to.
A
Celebrate different because there isn't anything wrong with it. But just having it out loud spoken.
B
Yeah, but as opposed to just sliding into a conversation. I don't. I just I love that. I love the fact that, that, that, that came out.
A
I also love the fact that when he was in some serious conversations that he shared that his wife was about to get married, he wanted to go to the wedding. And yeah, they were. Who was it he was talking to at that point?
B
It was either Debbie Carroll, one of them. But I, that's why I say I. And then, I don't know. But you know, Cindy telling him he wants to be chosen. I just feel like we're hearing the same things over and over again. And I'm feeling.
A
We'Re four weeks now. You got to start telling them how you feel. You know, how it goes. You gotta put yourself out there and let him know I am interested.
B
Yeah. Someone else.
A
And Gary, we, you know, we were becoming friends and we had friendships all over the house. I see some friendships forming there. And as the women left, they were all about that, which was beautiful. But it's totally different than our season.
B
Again, you said it a hundred times. And you're not wrong when I just. There's these one liners that to me, it's like you just hear the one liners and that's. That tells how I feel about this, this show.
A
Do you remember yours? There was a lot of them.
B
Mel says each one of them deserves love. It's almost like he's talking in third person. Like, no, Mel, you're the guy. You're supposed to fall in love with one of them. So I'm glad that each of them deserves. Loves Mel. Find one and pick her.
A
And, and when you come into the room or you say, my future wife is in this room, I want you to feel it when you say it. You're not convincing me at all. Or Kathy, maybe we are so off the chart. Maybe he picks nobody.
B
Maybe, maybe he's not ready. Okay, Susan, here, here's. Here's the primer for Mel. Let's see. Mel, if you're listening, close your eyes. When you kiss a woman, do not look, you know, into the O, to the wild frontier, to the sunset across the lake. Oh, keep your eyes on your girl. Put your arm around her. Bring her in for her face and.
A
Look in her eyes. Feeling meaning. But maybe he's not feeling so okay.
B
But try to, try to find it, Mel. And you know what? If you really are feeling excited, you know, touch her ass, you know, bring her in for a good hug. I mean, come on. Do we really have to teach him?
A
All I know is what I've been told. And that's a half Truth is a whole lie.
C

Let's talk about the women that went home. Jerry, who I love, and I think they had a good relationship. Well, so Robin, you. I. I think he. Robin is a strong woman.
A
She is.
B
She's been on our podcast. She is a strong, independent, successful woman. And Susan, I hate to say it, if, If Mel is quote unquote afraid of her, she's too much for him. You know what I'm gonna say? He's just not enough for her. Yeah, I think Robin's fabulous.
A
I do too.
B
So that didn't surprise me. She went home. Jerry, I think they get along well, but I just don't think he felt any romantic, you know?
A
No. But the good news for Jerry, as you know, we had her on a podcast and has embraced her own life again. Right. Like she's ready and it did that for her. So she's happy.
B
Yes. And in fact, that was in my notes when she said that at the end, she reminds me of you in, in that way. She's embracing her own life. She's a happy girl. So I love that. Robin. Sorry, Roxanne getting cut. My. One of my hometown girls from Austin. I don't know, Roxanne. Obviously I, you know, I've been. Well I met her at the, when we did the pajama party. But I mean, I don't know her, but my guess is from meeting her and seeing her, I don't think Roxanne jumped into the game enough. And by the game, I mean, that's my sense.
A
And that's another personality trait. Like if you're not a forward person and you're uncomfortable, like Carol talks that she's not and she gets, you know, tongue tied and all, but she's up there, she's doing it, you know, she's making herself do it. Where I didn't see a lot from her.
B
That, that's the thing. We didn't see it with Roxanne, but I said, but just Roxanne's demeanor. So, I mean, I think, I think, you know, the train's leaving the station for Mel. Right. He's down to what, six women now.
A
Yes. And Kathy. Alls I could think about last night was Teresa and Leslie.
B
Yeah.
A
After the hometowns and.
B
Yeah.
A
Crying and that, that feeling. And I see I could be wrong. Oh, Debbie and Cindy.
B
What? Crying.
A
Somebody's gonna be crushed.
B
Oh, I, I, I don't know. I, I mean, we're not there yet. We're not there yet. Debbie. I mean, I don't know. I feel like I'm not getting the sense from Mel. Debbie to me is a. We don't know. I mean, again, I look at this as a woman, as a golden woman. Honestly, I have a hard time fitting her into the puzzle of the show. Only because there's very few women. I think on our show we had more widow. We had, I think, one or two that had never been married and, and Debbie never having been married. That is a hard for me, A. Not a hard, not impossible, but a, a hard square peg to put into a round hole. It can be done, but it's gonna, you're gonna have to file off some of those edges.
A
The old saying, when you meet a guy and you hear he's never been married, is a red flag. I run exactly my pool.
B
I told you that I dated. I, I mean, I wouldn't blame Mel for that. Because if you've put your career in your own life first, again, I'm saying this is not a contestant as a person. If you have put yourself first your entire life and you don't have children, you know, you don't have a spouse or a partner or whatever, you're not going to, you're not going to share very well, you're not going to be willing to Compromise. Because you've never had to. I'm not sure. Well, I know I wouldn't. I told you. You know this. I dated one guy who had never been married, and boy, did I learn my lesson. So I wouldn't blame Mel for if. If that doesn't go to the end. I think that is a hard deal to make.
A
But you get to know the person, and she's a beautiful person.
B
Oh, no. It's nothing against Debbie.
A
So you feel like she'll never get anybody because she hadn't tried it because.
B
She said, again, I don't have enough information. I know that she was very career driven, but I know. I know lots of people. My daughter's career driven.
A
She's.
B
She's married. I don't. I don't. I think there's more to the story, is all I'm saying. And I think she's beautiful and lovely and looked damn hot in that white beach.
A
My gosh, babe. And. And I was so happy when he called her name first. It was like, yeah, she breathed.
B
You know what I mean?
A
And Cindy and so on.
B
I think it's. I think it. Like I said, I'm. I am struggling because. More because I want everyone to find love. I want Goldens. I want the world to see that Goldens can meet and fall in love, whether it's on national tv, in the grocery store, on a dating app. And so I want this for Mel, and I want it for one of the women, and I want it for me. So it's, you know, I'm rooting them on as I'm downing ice cream and throwing straws at the tv. Come on, Mel.
A
Can I tell you what I did last night with that comment that Nicole make? I still can't get past it.
B
What were the ugly.
A
I went and looked at our group photo. When our show started, we were all in black. Very sophisticated, classy. And then their group photo is how I really dress. In bright colors. Every single one of them had long hair. They look younger than our crew, but not better.
B
Well, hey, I. I so agree with you. I don't think. Listen, I. You know what I kind of want to do, Susan? I kind of want to lose £15.
A
Please, Kathy, you'll be invisible. That is just disgusting.
B
But you let me finish. Let me finish. Wear a bikini, which means I need a tummy tuck. I need you to put hair extensions in and, I don't know, get stiletto heels and say, hey, can I be one of you now?
A
No. A lot of them, that's their Hair. And some of them had extensions. I give it just a lot of them had extensions. What? They, they cast it. That's what they looked for this time.
B
But see, I'm not against it. Are you?
A
No, I'm not against it at all.
B
I think they look great. And that's what I'm saying. It's not better or worse than us. I mean, I'm making jokes when I say, you know, I want to be one of them. I mean, I, I, I just want our golden groove group and their golden group.
A
I want people to find one big family now.
B
Yeah. And I am and continue to be a hopeful romantic. And so I think that's why, just to close this out. I think that's why you and I are struggling a little bit with this, because you and I really do believe in love. Not for each other, but we love. We love each other. Yes, we know, but you know what I'm saying. And so we want, want, we want the behavior to reflect that. We want positive behavior models. That's what I'm saying.
A
You know how they tease you for next week's episode.
B
Yeah. Keep talking.
A
What are your thoughts, Kath?
B
Well, what specifically are you asking about?
A
I mean, I was just dumbfounded. I couldn't get past Nicole. I'm sorry, I just can't. Nicole, I can't wait to meet you in person.
B
I mean, I think next, I, I, you know, I, I don't want to. I don't want to. I think I'm looking forward to next week. I want to see, but I'm really hoping that Mel really does, that we start to feel it. Show me more. I want to see that kiss where I believe that he's falling in love, that he's not saying you all deserve love. As if there's some guy in the wings that's coming out in 10 minutes and I want to believe it of.
A
Him when he's with each woman and he says the right things. And afterwards in the little interview part, he says positive things, but I just don't feel it right.
B
And I want to see.
A
That's his personality. We might be way off base. Maybe that's just who he is. And he is feeling it. I'm hoping.
B
Yeah. Well, all I can say is next week we're nearing in on halfway. I think we're there, actually.
A
No, after we have one more rose sermon and then it's hometowns. Right?
B
Right. That's what I'm saying. What the season is. Before we know it, it's going to be over. And I can't wait to see what next week brings. I just need to before I watch next week's season. I'm telling you right now, I'm getting rid of every ice cream. I don't eat ice cream. I was so frustrated last night. Literally.
A
What frustrated you? Because his kisses weren't sincere and he was looking around. You don't think it was nerves you you're feeling?
B
I don't know. I'm just telling you I feel like I'm not feeling it. So I ate my feelings. That's what I did last day with ice cream. I ate my feelings. Thanks lot, Mel. I gained five pounds and it's your fault.
A
And Nicole, it's me and you, babe.
B
With that. Can hardly wait for next week.
A
Yep. And thank you all for tuning in. And you know what? I love you people that definitely send me feedback every week. I mean, I have a best friend out there. She details everything we say. Kathy. And it's to both of us, of course, but I love her input. And guess what? 9099 of the time, she agrees with us.
B
I love that. Yes.
A
Right? That never happens.
B
Yeah.
A
But we want to know what you guys think.
B
We really do. Let us know. Till next week.
A
It's Anna Ortiz and I'm Mark and Delicato. You might know us as Hilda and.
B

Podcast: Bachelor Happy Hour (iHeartPodcasts & Warner Bros)
This episode of "Golden Hour" is a candid and passionate post-mortem of the latest "Golden Bachelor" episode, with Kathy and Susan dissecting not only the week’s dramatic moments (especially Nicole’s controversial actions and comments), but also Mel’s progress as the Golden Bachelor. The episode is a mix of critique, humor, and nostalgia, as two franchise veterans highlight evolving dynamics within the show and the franchise's expectations for love, authenticity, and positive female relationships among older contestants.
(Begins ~01:02, continues throughout episode)
(06:19–07:56)
(08:04–23:02, revisited at 32:20)
(Throughout, notably 13:36–14:55, 19:11–27:07)
(25:05–29:50)
(30:30–31:51)
Kathy on Nicole’s intentions:
“I have a medal that I want to give to Nicole. It says, you are there for all the wrong reasons. We’re going to put it around her neck…” (02:33)
Susan on Nicole and beauty:
“Beauty goes way further than a look.” (04:35)
Kathy’s advice for Mel:
“Close your eyes. When you kiss a woman, do not look... into the sunset across the lake. Keep your eyes on your girl.” (22:38)
Kathy on her hopes for the show:
“I want Goldens. I want the world to see that Goldens can meet and fall in love, whether it’s on national tv, in the grocery store, on a dating app.” (29:59)
Kathy and Susan bring warmth, humor, and candor. While pointedly critical of some contestants, they aim for solidarity and encouragement, never shying from personal opinions or colorful advice, but always keeping the discussion engaging and accessible, both for Bachelor Nation fans and newcomers.
