Kathy
Welcome back to Golden Hour. I'm Kathy.
Susan
And I'm Susan. And I'm so happy to be back. How are you, Kathy?
Kathy
I'm great. I missed you. I missed you. I know you were in a foreign land having a great time, but I missed you. I missed someone to disagree with. I missed. I missed us giving advice and. And us arguing over it. So I'm glad you're back and we can get back into life as it were.
Susan
Trust me, I've missed it as well. I'm like. Kept thinking, what am I missing? What am I missing? And where I was. The food was terrible. I'm just telling you.
Kathy
Okay, well, it always comes down to food, food with you.
Susan
Well, I'm a foodie. What can I say?
Kathy
Oh, my God, I enjoy food. No, you, I. You don't enjoy all food. You enjoy the food you prepare.
Susan
No, I like to go out. Oh, no, no, no. I like to go out. I like to try different things, too.
Kathy
Do you like, like Brazilian food? Thai food? Do you like all different cuisines?
Susan
Not all of them.
Kathy
There you go. What's your favorite cuisine? I'm going to go with Italian.
Susan
Not necessarily. I like a good steak.
Dietz and Watson Sponsor
Of course you do.
Susan
I do. Tie to me, I like Thai. It seems mild, boring, like just maybe I haven't had the right Thai. I'd like to be with people that, that will specialize in some food group and show me the best of that.
Kathy
Yeah, I just don't care.
Susan
That I'm willing to do.
Kathy
Yeah, I mean, I don't care. I just. Although, can I tell you, when I was in the hospital while you were gone, the food in the hospital, I
Susan
was like, you're gonna tell me it was good, Kath. I'm gonna cry.
Kathy
It was good. I was like, this is great. Can I come here and eat three meals a day? I mean, the only thing that was a little not so great was the asparagus, you know, but was it mushy? No, it was too big. It was too thick. I like those thin spears. But, you know, I was like, the, the, the chicken was good. The, the eggs. I had an omelet. I was like, you know what? I'm forget going to the Penthouse Ritz. I'm just gonna go hang out in
Susan
the house, you have the hospital food. I'll be the one at the Ritz, at the penthouse, eating. That works for me, girlfriend.
Kathy
All right. You know, while we're eating hospital food, we gotta get into the Hulu Get Real recap. Hulu made a lot of announcements at Get Real House, and we're gonna give a quick recap. But first, Susan, how do you feel? Like I wasn't invited. Were you?
Susan
I was there last year, but I wasn't this year. I wonder what the problem is here.
Kathy
Well, you're one for two. I'm zero for two. And I will say, when I was looking online, there were no Goldens there. It was all the youngins and young influencers. So what are we doing wrong, Susan?
Susan
We got old, but we have wisdom and people like us.
Kathy
That's right. And we get people off the couch. So you know what? We're all living our best lives. Let's start with the Bachelor. The great news. And this I am so excited about that Bachelor and Bachelor in paradise will be back in 2027. What do you think?
Susan
It had to be. I mean, that's a great show. Are you kidding? And I'm just curious, are they going to have golden sets this time on it Paradise. There'll be money at the end of the show.
Kathy
You know, it's funny you say that, because we're going to talk about a lot of other new shows that are coming out on Hulu. And here's my thought in general before we get any further. For me, Bachelor, particularly the franchises, it's always been in my mind telling a great story and hoping that people fall in love. So, like, love is the backbone of it. But now it's like, it might be a lot of money. It takes the focus off of love and the great stories. So I don't know. But if. If. Let's just say it goes back to being about love. Who do you think the Bachelor will be? Because my understanding is the first thing they're going to film is a Bachelor, and then they'll film Bachelor in Paradise. So who do you want? Who do you think will be Bachelor?
Susan
Think it may be somebody from Taylor season.
Kathy
I totally agree with you. There's been talk about Robert Irwin, who won Dance with the Stars, but he's. Which we're going to get into. He's doing another show that we'll get into in a second.
Susan
I think he's a little young to be the Bachelor, but he will be someday, I believe.
Kathy
Well, I think so, too. I mean, I would Love to see one of the guys from Taylor season. First of all, I'd like to see Taylor season shown, but I think it would be great to have one of those guys because they are some good looking, nice guys.
Susan
I know. And also, new news. Dancing with the Stars, the next pro. My dream come true is to be on that show. But Mara Higgins and Sierra Miller announced as new cast members. Okay, here we go. We're getting younger at people with big followings. I think that's a new route that they've taken.
Kathy
Yeah, you and I are toast.
Susan
But they have to have seniors on the show though. Kat, we're not toast. They have to have golden. So mix it up. Maybe they should just have a golden dance with the stars.
Kathy
You know what? A golden dating show, a golden travel show, a golden cooking show. I'll set the table. Anything would be great. Maura Higgins, if I'm right, she is like a 35 year old who is on Love Island. And then the other one, Ciara Miller came from Summer House and Winterhouse. So these are young, not. Not teenagers, but they're young influencers already. Current reality TV stars. And I think that's where it's going. But also, Robert Irwin is going to be the host of this new show of finding the next pro. What they're doing is again, shocker, a competition to see who the next pro is going to be for Dancing with the Stars.
Susan
Dancing with the Stars. Yep. I mean, they're twisting it up. They're changing it up, I guess. I mean, they were successful for 100 years, it feels like. Yeah, but it's modern day. You got to. You got to switch things up.
Kathy
Well, you do, but I do. I do hate to see, just personally, I hate to see everything going to money unless they're handing it to me, in which case I love the idea. The next one though is speaking of money is Million dollar nannies. Okay? What this show's gonna be is eight young nannies. They're influencers. And it's gonna be life changing money. They're gonna be nanning to famous families in my favorite place, Ibiza. I even know how to say it. Ibiza. And one of them is gonna be, I think Leah Barris, who worked for the. They're touting this as lots of personal drama, you know, lots of God knows what else is going on. But apparently nannies who are experienced are going to compete for money in Ibiza. What could possibly go wrong there?
Susan
That's the most beautiful island. Oh, God, I love it.
Kathy
How about having. What do you think about this, Susan. We have raised kids. We have grandchildren. How about they do a golden Million Dollar Grannies?
Susan
Well, that. We could be a nanny.
Kathy
I said Million Dollar Granny Nannies. I love it. We could do it. All right. Okay.
Susan
The next one, the Girls. Now, it's a 2026 Hulu reality series. Wait, it's about the Kardashian. Well, Khloe Kardashian is in it, of course, and she's focusing on her inner circle of real life besties. That's all her friends. Like, can you imagine?
Kathy
You know what we need? We. That's where we went wrong. We're not one of her besties or we'd be on the show.
Susan
I'm telling you, the show is going to follow their lives as moms and moguls. So some of them have been on the show. Like her best friend that always comes on the show. This I will definitely tune into. Yeah.
Kathy
Okay. Well, the next one you're really going to want to tune into, Susan, because this. This show, you know, everything that has any hint of Italy or Italian you're in. This show is called the Mob.
Susan
I should be on it.
Kathy
Kathy, you know what? Get in line. I want to be on it first. This is like. It's trader like. And they're going to be competing in Italy in a villa, I believe. Shocker again. For more money. Do you. There's, you know, these. Are you hearing it? It's there. So it's a variation on a theme. Competition and money in this show. There's. They're going to have a don, you know, of the Mob.
Susan
Once you can change it at any
Kathy
time, he can change it. He can vote people off. So you and I need to go and be the dons and clean house. But, you know, and Shane from Taylor, Frankie, Paul season is on it. And you know who else is on it? Maria Georges, if I'm saying her last name right.
Susan
That's right.
Kathy
She's on it as well.
Susan
She's our.
Kathy
Why are we on these?
Susan
Susan, I've been on something else recently, too, that we're going to talk about.
Kathy
Yeah. Vanderpump Villa. But I want to know, why are you and I not invited to the Hulu Get Real party that everyone was at? We're not on these shows. Give me your best take. Why are we not on these shows?
Susan
Out of sight, out of mind. We need to be in their face showing them, hey, remember us?
Kathy
All right. We're going to have to get.
Susan
We are good tv.
Kathy
That we are. All right. What's the next one.
Susan
You got Secret the New Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Orange County.
Kathy
Okay, wait, can I just say I the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Salt Lake. Like, I get that cuz that's where
Susan
the preponderance live, right?
Kathy
Of Mormons live in Utah. Orange County. What? Like, are we going to see Mormons? Are we going to see Mormons like in, in with their husbands, chained to their arm, surfing in the ocean? Like, I don't get it.
Susan
And wait, everybody asked and no, J. Ben Affleck is not the star. She will not be.
Kathy
So I think that, I think that from what I read about this show, it's going to be a group of, you know, I'm not quoting it, but moms, but traditional Mormon wives with other Mormon wives that are more adaptable to change. And it's going to be, you know, one bumping into the other and, and there's going to be a lot of drama there. Shocker, shocker, shocker. The only thing I'm not sure of is if there's money involved, because it seems to be that money is involved in all these shows. Susan.
Susan
Yes, it seems to be money involved with everything lately. I mean, does that make it more dramatic? Maybe. Does that change one's personality? Like when we know the Bachelor, that's about love.

Do you think this just my question to you. Do you think the days of. Of shows that are. Yes, they're always about a good story that goes without saying. But do you think that it's changing to we don't care about the good story as much as we want competition, the price at the end, and we want to see what people will do to earn the prize money. Do you think that's where we're headed?
Susan
I think that's, that's what I'm saying. I mean, you can't deny it.
Kathy
How do you feel about that?
Susan
Chevelle has the pot of gold at the end, right?
Kathy
How do you exactly. How do you feel about that? For Bachelor?
Susan
I Because we're watching, watching Paradise, I thought it was kind of cool. Like, oh, there's a little twist here, and somebody's going to make some money at that.
Kathy
But here's the difference.
Susan
They question whether that love was real, but they put that in there as well. Very, very good move because when they questioned them singly and they both answered the same that gave me yes.
Kathy
But you got to remember because I was there Bachelor in Paradise the first, what, four episodes, Nobody knew that money was gonna. That it was gonna become a competition. In other words, all the people that matched up, you know, found each other. They were solidified as a couple before they brought money into it. Where going forward it be, I think it takes the love out of it and brings in an alliance. Let's Susan, you and I, come on. We're gonna, we're gonna say we're in
Susan
love just to get the money.
Kathy
Exactly right. It becomes about alliances and so I don't know. I don't know how I feel.
Susan
We shall see. But I'm probably going to tune into most of them. You know, the mob's going to be on front and center.
Kathy
Susan's gonna be sitting with her baseball bat saying, you know, but listen, if you go on the mob, you better bring me with you because you and I will Take baseball bats to everybody. We'll be the dons. Plural. Now, that's a good idea. Wait.
Susan
We could be the dom.
Kathy
You and I could be the dons.
Susan
I don't want to be the don.
Dietz and Watson Sponsor
Why not?
Susan
Heads will roll, Kathy.
Kathy
Heads will roll. That's the point. Will be great tv. We're on it. Producers get us on it. All right. Go.
Susan
All right, we definitely got to do some recap on Vanderpump Villa. So Bachelor Nation was featured on two episodes of Vanderpump Villa, and we watched it. So let's do a little recap.
Kathy
First of all, there were so many. The Bachelor cast on these episodes of Vanderpump Villa included Charity, Dot, Maria, Sean, Mercedes, Ariel, John Xavier, and Jess. And here's the thing. The. The. Not without breaking it for everybody and spoiling it. The. The reason that. That they were all there was to celebrate. This was the reason given to celebrate Dalton's 33rd birthday. So charity and Daughton and all this crowd were there ostensibly to.
Susan
That's why they were invited. That's why they were invited to celebrate. So, Kath, have you seen the show before?
Kathy
Not Vanderpump Villa. I had seen Vanderpump Rules. Yes, Yes.
Susan
I was a little uncertain about the show, so watching it, I realize, again, there's a pot of money at the end.
Kathy
Not. Not. No, no, no. The pot of money is not for the guests.
Susan
Now, I understand that.
Kathy
It's only for the staff.
Susan
She hires for her staff, and who shines the most.
Kathy
Correct.
Susan
Now, I don't see how the butler can shine more than the bartender, because the bartender is going to be the one that they're with all the time because everybody's drinking.
Kathy
Well, every week.
Susan
I didn't realize it was such a. They were supposed to hook up with these people and get crazy. I did, however, notice our bachelor people were very involved. I will say Charity and Dalton, they're together. They weren't involved. They were a class act.
Kathy
So, okay, so Charity and Daughton were not featured as much. They showed them, like, coming into dinner for the birthday celebration for breakfast, and. And they were very circumspect. I wish I could say the same for our bachelor friends. Sean, I want to slap you. I really. I was appalled by your behavior. And Jessica, you and Nick. Come on, girlfriend. You know, Really? I don't know. I. You know what I'm gonna be.
Susan
Statements coming out, like, hung like a horse, like.
Kathy
Well, how about Maria saying you believe that one? Out you with her? I mean, I'm Like I will say, as a Golden, as a. A supporter and lover of all things Bachelor and the Bachelor franchise, I was disappointed in the behavior. And I know that's not going to be a pop. But be honest. You called me and you said, I was shocked. You were shocked, literally. And what did I tell you?
Susan
That's what this show was about. I really did.
Kathy
I didn't either.
Susan
I do now. I do now. Now, once again, we weren't invited. The Golden's. Maybe if they invited the whole golden crew. I wonder if the actions would be quite the same.
Kathy
Well, two things I want to say to me. My immediate. And I called you, so everyone knows. I called Susan right after I watched the two episodes. 5 and 6 are the two episodes. Season 3 episodes 5 and 6 are the ones where the Bachelor folk are there at this castle in England with the. That's where Vanderpump Villa is this season
Dietz and Watson Sponsor
in London or outside of London.
Kathy
I called Susan, I said, have you finished watching? She said, not yet. I said, get ready. It's modern day Sodom and Gomorrah. I was just like the behavior, like truth and dare in the hot tub and making out with multiple people and stripping down clothes and I mean, so here's what I thought it reminded me a little bit of. You asked me what Goldens would do. I would never do that. Because as Goldens, the small platform you and I have, I want to be seen. And as a woman of class, of style, who is compassionate. I mean, it's the same problem I had with paradise with the Golden's making out in the pool. I wouldn't do that. Would you?
Susan
I think it's the young generation, though. It's much more free than we ever was.
Kathy
It's not about being free in my.
Susan
Yeah, it is. They don't care, Cat. They don't care.
Kathy
Well, that's different.
Susan
Two. Two things I want to talk about.
Kathy
Okay.
Susan
One, when Charity was sitting and answering questions about what? Remember when Vanderpump would say, you're not jealous about da da da da da. Remember that conversation?
Kathy
Yes.
Susan
Okay. How she answered it. And the other one saying, I don't know if I'd be okay with that, of him being around all the exes. And Charity laughed and said, well, I'm fine, but if they. If it were reversed, how would the other one act? Right.
Kathy
Yeah.
Susan
Wasn't that the topic of the conversation?
Kathy
Yeah. And you know what? I think she was fair. She was. She said she wouldn't like it. That and I would. And I got to Be honest. I wouldn't either. But so.
Susan
But I think he Chosen one. You need to be comfortable. Yeah, I mean, he obviously did a show with her. She was. You know, it does. That's just what it is. My best part was Nick and Jess, and when she screams at him, Nick. And they stopped the car. Oh, Cat, that's. That's all about love right there.
Kathy
Okay.
Susan
I hope to God that they do continue to see each other. Although I saw the previews.
Kathy
No, no, no, no, no. You stop. You called me and you went, kathy, I really hope that Nick and Jess did get together. And what did I say? Are you out of your mind? Did you see. If anyone wonders, we talk this way off air. On air. I said, susan, are you out of your mind? Did you see the previews? The next crowd were women coming in from Girls coming in from Love Overboard. And. And Nick, they're all going, oh, look at that. Like, they. They can't wait to get their hands all over those bodies. So if I were Jazz and Ariel,
Susan
like, thinking, Charlie's all that plus some. He's just a flirt.
Kathy
Oh, no, I. I know Ariel. I think Ariel was just playing. She's just having fun. Ariel. Charlie's not her guy. In my mind, Charlie's just, you know, he's a flirt. He's a flirt. He. He's with her today and another one tomorrow. I think Nick is the same.
Susan
Shawn ends up with Hannah, of all people.
Kathy
Okay. Shawn and Hannah. Good God.
Susan
Right in front of the Marciano guy. Oh, that girl is all over the place.
Kathy
Well, so, Sean. I love you, Sean, but come on, You. You're. You're. You're a fabulous guy. I know you personally, and your behavior is deplorable.

I mean, she was just going along with it. I think that's what you had to do on that show. You had to be with somebody.
Kathy
I mean, Susan, if you and I. And I'm putting a bid out for us to be on the next season of Vanderpump Villa. Right after we finish the mom, we're going to show them how it should be done. However. However, if this is what. You know, if we are just old and I'm, you know, hearkening back to the Victorian era here, but if that's where it is, okay. But I think, you know, in other podcasts, we. We talked with Demi about raising good men. You know, raising sons to be good men. Well, you know what? I think when you're watching behavior like this, it's not teaching anyone in society to be respectful of others. It's Sodom and Gomorrah. It's lustful.
Susan
And there's jealousy about Tyler. Get really annoyed with Sage for briefly speaking with John. Remember that scene? Yeah, but I'm just where he gets pissed off. Nick tries to go to bed with Jess.
Kathy
I mean, listen to what you're reading. Do you think all this is it? Can you chalk it all up to strict entertainment? Can you?
Susan
Oh, I was entertained, all right. I was, like, in shock half the time.
Kathy
Yeah, but is it the entertainment that you want to spend your time watching? That kind of behavior?
Susan
Not necessarily.
Kathy
No. Okay. You and I.
Susan
It wasn't my thing. It really was.
Kathy
Yeah, no, it was. I was.
Susan
But I was amused watching these kids.
Kathy
Yeah, I was amused, but then I was like, wait a minute. You're part of the Bachelor franchise. You gotta. You gotta behave better. You know, you gotta.
Susan
But they were put on in that situation.
Kathy
Oh, so you're telling me that.
Susan
And then, yuck.
Kathy
And people tell me that Jeff to
Susan
them, and they gave them time and attention. That's how they roll, Cat. They're there to have a good time, and then they walk away and say, oh, that was just a weekend.
Kathy
Well, you know, everybody watching it. Then. Then don't. Okay, Susan. Fair enough. But then don't come to me and say, I hope Nick. Wait, wait. Don't come and say to me, oh, I hope Nick and Jess are together, because it's not real. But it's not real if it's just a weekend.
Susan
Eventually, they really were into each other. And she's so damn cute.
Kathy
Well, let me just say. I know. I know Jess, too. I love her. I'm just saying. Come on, people. Get real. Nick. When Nick tells Jesse wants to come and visit her in the States or have her visit him in Scotland, I'm raising my. To meet his mom. I lived in Scotland. I'm like, hey, can I come meet your mom? Because I'd love to go back to Scotland. Because that's how. How much that's going to last with Jess. Yeah. Just got out.
Susan
Of the whole show, the most drama was all about Hannah and Marciano and how she is with him, like, without the cameras. And then what she does to him in front of the camera. It's like, that's not fair.
Kathy
This.
Susan
This girl sounds a little.
Kathy
I don't know.
Susan
I felt sorry for him.
Kathy
I went back and forth with Marciano. First I thought the guy was okay, then I thought he was crazy. And then you get Stacy trying to, you know, mediate. I'm like, this. It just seemed like, do we need to stretch the show? Is this what we're doing now? Like, we don't have enough content. So let's just have him have a good argument. I mean, really, it was hard to watch.
Susan
And then at night, Alyssa is with John all night, but ends up sleeping with Nick, who tried to go to bed with Jess. I mean, this is a freaking mess.
Kathy
Yeah. This is what I. Listen, The. The. The. The thing that I loved was they. They. When they're doing the, you know, in the moment interviews, and they asked Jess, oh, wait, now I have to think about this. Did they ask Jessica and she. No, they asked Nick, I think, and he couldn't remember her name.
Susan
He's like.
Kathy
And the producer had to say, jess. Oh, yeah, Jess. I'm like, he can't even keep it together long enough to film the show. You know, he's on to the next love Overboard chick. I mean, right? Wow. And then Lisa Vanderpump, let me just say she is RH. She is 65, a little younger, conducts
Susan
herself with nothing but classic.
Kathy
Classic, right? So, Lisa, we loved you. You are smart enough to stay out of the fray.
Susan
And she looked a little shocked a couple times, didn't she? And.
Kathy
But she's still making millions on the show, so good for you, Lisa. I loved it when she brought in Hannah, you know, to say you're not. You're not working up to snuff here. I mean, really, she's. Too bad you came to me. Sodom and Gomorrah. Nobody's worried about being up to snuff here. They're just worried about the next sexual encounter in the hot tub.
Susan
Young lady's name that got in trouble because she's not with the guest enough. And then she does. Then her boyfriend gets all mad. He's not even speaking to her. I'm like, come on, this girl can't win.
Kathy
Yeah, it was. I can't remember who it was, but I don't know. Sage. It was Sage. It was Sage. Yeah, it was Sage. And I don't know, I just, I think, I think you can make a show, like really entertaining without doing such perverse, in some ways, behavior. I was just a little disappointed in that. But I know I'm going to take a lot of heat for this. I think you can have love and romance and interesting, chaotic stories without having some of the behavior that we saw.
Susan
Can we just talk about the settings, the table, the arrangements, the flowers? It was Bridgerton all the way for Dalton's birthday thing. I mean, it was gorgeous.
Kathy
I mean, Susan, next year for your 70th birthday, Lisa, bring Susan and me first. Susan, celebrate.
Susan
There you go. I want to celebrate my 70th on that show. However, Lisa, hire a little older staff. Then what will happen, Kathy?
Kathy
Oh, listen, we could say very easy.
Susan
We're not going to mess around with these kids. But if there's an older, older step, I don't know.
Kathy
So you asked, you asked me when we were talking on the phone, you said, kathy, would you. Do, you know, would you make out with a guy? And what did I tell you? I said, yeah, it. No, I said I would if it was an age appropriate guy that I was attracted to. But you're not gonna see me. You're not gonna see me with a young guy, and you're not gonna see me jumping into bed or taking off my bathing suit in a hot tub. Or you know what. Or using. Dropping the F bomb. Because you and I. Part of the part. And then I'll get off my soapbox. You and I. The best part about what we get to do, I think, is being role models for our generation, for women over
Susan
60, thinking life is over life.
Kathy
So life isn't over. And you don't have to.
Susan
Agreed.
Kathy
You don't have to behave like. Like a. Whatever. Pick a word.
Susan
Well, they. That show got me sucked in. I started from the beginning.
Kathy
I know.
Susan
We had watched episode five, watched it from the get go on season three. Now I finish. Because right away, when they found out Love Overboard girls were coming, it was very clear the men were already over the Bachelor.
Kathy
Wait a minute. Wait a second. That's what I said. They were over them. And you go, no, I want Nick and Jess.
Susan
Not Nick and Jess. I want them together.
Kathy
Did you see Nick's face when he saw the girls coming from Lava?
Susan
Yes, I saw it.
Kathy
But you need to get off your fairy tale princess wings and start looking at reality here, because reality, it is
Susan
one hell of a show, I'll tell you. I can't wait. All these other new shows that are coming out, I wonder if they're going to be similar.
Kathy
Well, I think there's going to be money involved on a lot of them. And you know what? We just got to wait and see. There's two sides to this story, right? One is do what you do the best and you know, know your audience and do what you do in the best way possible. And I think Bachelor has done that on.
Susan
On reality tv.
Kathy
Bachelor is reality tv. I think that all this all. But I think the difference is, Susan, there are so many new shows now about love. Love Overboard Love, act love on the spectrum. My God, love is blind. I can't even think of them all. There's so many of them that people feel the need, rightfully so probably, to come up with a new creative something to make their show stand out. I'm sorry that, you know, that it comes down to money because, you know, not for love nor money. I mean, money's the root of all evil. How many of those old pithy expressions can we say. But I. I get it. There has to be some change with the times. But I'm. I. As part of the Bachelor franchise, I just. I'm going on record. I hope they don't deviate too far from the wonderful stories and the quest for love.
Susan
Now, my. My thing is in reality tv, like on our show, I was who I am. I wasn't acting?
Kathy
No.
Susan
Do you think that some of them are falling into I'm going to act this out because it's good TV or
Kathy
you mean the players, the cast? Yes, without a doubt. You are absolutely right.
Susan
So how is this still reality TV then? Reality TV is being real. Were you somebody different when you were on the show?
Kathy
No, Susan, I'm not going to name names. How many of the Goldens do you know who were not themselves on. On our show, on Joan's season, on Mel's season, We've got to know how many of them.
Susan
Well, it's changed going down the line because we were the first and we were authentic.
Kathy
Yeah, that's right. So, you know, I don't know. Let's get to be interesting. Let's go. We're going to get to the golden hotline because I got to finish up with this so I can set my dvr. There's another old term to. What's it? Dvr. So I can set my whatever to record all these reality TV shows.
Susan
Just talk to the TV now.
Kathy
C. I know. Hit the. Hit the microphone. Play love overboard. Can I just thank God I now
Susan
know what hooking up is. Uhhuh. We've come a long way.
Kathy
I swear to God, if you didn't know after watching V what hooking up is, there is absolutely no hope for you.
Susan
Just somebody get a note to Lisa that we need a golden for my 70th I want my part party, I want the table exactly the same.
Kathy
No, no. We're gonna do something way better for you.
Susan
That's all for today's episode, but Kathy and I will be back with part two very soon. We'll see you then.

Title: Kathy & Susan on Hulu’s ‘Get Real’ and the Future of Reality TV | Golden Hour
Date: May 14, 2026
Hosts: Kathy and Susan (from The Golden Bachelor)
Main Focus:
Kathy and Susan return for a lively discussion reviewing the latest announcements from Hulu’s “Get Real” reality TV showcase, reflect on the evolving nature of reality television (especially the “Bachelor” franchise), and dish out a sharp, often humorous recap of recent Bachelor Nation appearances on “Vanderpump Villa.” The duo grapple with themes of age, authenticity, and the increasing focus on competition and money in reality programming, all while maintaining their signature "golden" perspective.
[03:10–05:22]
[05:22–14:09]
Maura Higgins (Love Island) & Ciara Miller (Summer House/Winterhouse) join as cast members.
Kathy & Susan express concern over the franchise “skewing young.”
Robert Irwin to host a Dancing With the Stars pro competition series.
“The Girls” starring Khloe Kardashian and her besties.
“The Mob” (competition, Italy):
“Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County”:
Consistent theme: Modern reality TV’s focus on competition, alliances, and substantial cash prizes over authentic stories.
[14:09–20:22]
Both hosts voice ambivalence about the shift from love-driven stories to game-like competitions.
They note “Bachelor in Paradise” initially focused on couples, but introducing prize money changes motives.
[20:55–39:09]
[21:11–22:47]
[22:47–38:09]
Guests:
Susan shocked by the party and matchups, raising generational divides in what’s acceptable on TV.
Dissection of love triangles and shifting allegiances:
[38:09–42:34]
Kathy and Susan reflect on their own behavior (“Golden” standards), lamenting the loss of class, authenticity, and respect in much modern reality TV.
Both plan to keep watching (“I can’t wait. All these other new shows…”)
[40:09–42:34]
Shift in Reality TV: Increasing emphasis on cash prizes and competition is altering the core storytelling of shows like “The Bachelor,” leading Kathy and Susan to worry about authenticity and the value of “love” as a central theme.
Generational Divide: The “Golden” hosts often feel out of place (and purposefully so) amid the younger, wilder reality TV culture, yet find humor and wisdom in offering their “granny” perspectives.
Bachelor Nation on Vanderpump Villa: Despite some class act participants, the hosts found much of the behavior wild and, at times, “deplorable,” highlighting both the appeal and the pitfalls of colliding franchise worlds.
Advocating for Realness: Kathy and Susan stress the importance of being oneself on TV, advocating for genuine connection and class, especially for role models in their demographic.
Looking Forward: The duo is curious but cautious about the upcoming wave of reality shows, hoping their beloved Bachelor franchise keeps its heart—and maybe even puts a golden spin on new concepts.
End of recap.
