Kathy
Welcome back to Bachelor Happy Hour's Golden Hour. Thanks so much for joining us today. As always, we're so excited to be here. How are you today, Susan?
Susan
I am great. I'm ready to end this year, but it was a fabulous one, so I'm not that much in a hurry, but hopefully the year to come is going to be even better. And today we have a very special guest, Kathy. She's special to you and me. I know. Please welcome from Paradise, Leah.
Kathy
Hi, Leia.
Susan
Welcome to Golden Hour.
Kathy
Hey there, beautiful.
Susan
How are you? You look amazing.
Leia
Thank you, Susan. So do you.
Kathy
And we know. We know why you look so beautiful. Where are we speaking to you today? We're going to get into things real quickly. But where are you?
Leia
I'm still here in LA in my cute little apartment.
Susan
And that smile that won't stop is from.
Kathy
Oh, no. So we're going to get into this. So here's the thing. There's. Everyone knows I was in paradise with Leah. Love her to pieces. She taught me how to do makeup. And the proof is if you could see her right now, she looks absolutely gorgeous. Stunning. So we're gonna get started right away. But I have to first say, in paradise, you did not find love. You got a little upset a few times because you were trying to make silk out of a sow's ear, otherwise known as Jonathan. I love Jonathan.
Leia
Jonathan knows better than anyone. She's wiped many a tears.
Kathy
But I love you and I love Jonathan. But I do know how ready you were to meet your man. And so now you are going to please spill the tea. Tell us all about. I want the whole. All the deets, as they say. I wanted all of your boyfriend, Ricky, how did you meet him? Tell us all.
Leia
So Ricky is from la. He's a musician and he's a music director and a drummer. He plays the drums. And I was at a music festival. I'm from Hawaii. I love reggae music. And he plays for a few reggae artists. And I was backstage at a festival because I know another band member shout out to Rebel Wills from Rebel Soulja. But he got me tickets to get backstage. And then while I was backstage, I met Ricky. And then it was actually really funny though, because when I met him, he was with a friend of his who, like, is lesbian and she was like, chopping it up with me. And I think, like, she, like, low key, like, took his, like, mojo and he was like, super quiet. He's definitely More reserved.
Kathy
When you looked.
Susan
At each other, was there a feeling.
Kathy
More reserved? Go ahead.
Susan
No. Was there a feeling, you know, that. That initial chemistry. Is that what you had when you saw him, or did this come in time?
Leia
I think that I definitely thought he was, like, very cute.
Susan
Okay.
Leia
But I think at the time, I wasn't, like, super. Like, this was before paradise, actually. And I think before paradise, I wasn't dating super seriously. I was kind of just like, you know, enjoying my singleness, kind of like figuring out who I was. And also, I kind of knew that paradise was coming up.
Susan
Yeah.
Leia
So it's kind of just like, oh, like, yeah, you know, I didn't want to start anything too crazy, but so we kept in touch. And then I was actually talking on the beach with Keith, and I was like, oh, Keith. Like, I'm so sad that paradise panned out this way. But, like. And we were kind of just like, oh, is there anyone back home that, like, maybe you're interested in? And I was kind of like, well, there's this one guy that, like, I would love to, like, circle back with. And he was like, do it. And then I was like, okay, I'll update you. And he's like. I was like, what about you, Keith? And he's like, yeah, there's this one lady. And I was like, okay, like, let's make a pact. We're going to reach out to these people when we get home.
Kathy
Yeah. Well, I'm going to tell you, I'm going to give a little news flash here. That wasn't intended. It didn't work out for Keith, so carry on. But it did.
Susan
Okay. So did you. What happened after Paradise? Did you go to another concert or.
Leia
I just texted him and I was like, hey, I'm back from that show. I said I was gonna film. And then we got dinner and we've been, like, so inseparable ever since.
Kathy
How is he different, Leah? Tell me. Because I. You and I had lots of talks in paradise about what you were looking for. So tell me. Obviously, it wasn't love at first sight, because you came to paradise. But tell me, right? I mean, hey, there it is. But tell me what. What makes him different?
Leia
Yeah, Well, I think one. I think, like, personally, it was, for me, it was also my stage of readiness. I think he was, like, such a wonderful human being, but one, I think I was finally ready to like, okay, like, I. Paradise is out of the way. I want to find my person. Like, everyone did. All my friends did. Like, let's start dating, seriously. And he is someone who is so family oriented. That's so very special to me. And I've always wanted someone who values family the same way I do. And he's very, like, kind. He's so gentle with me. And Kathy, you know me, I can be a handful. So I've. I've always said, like, I need someone that's very patient. And he's so patient with me, and I think that is, like, the. Like, we align on all of our. Our big things. So, like, he's very family oriented, he's very kind, he's very patient. I think we approach life in very similar ways, and I think we align on so many of the big things in. And I think we approach life in a very similar way. I think the biggest thing, though, is he's very gentle and very patient with me. I know I'm a big personality. I can be a handful.
Kathy
No.
Leia
He'S just someone who has accepted me 100% for who I am and encouraged me and kind of like, he's never dulled my sparkle. I think he's just brought it out even more and more. Yeah.
Kathy
Wait, so let me tell you, since you align on everything and he's made you the person you are and you're sparkling even more. Are you getting engaged?
Susan
Any rings coming in the future?
Leia
I. I mean, that's.
Kathy
Break it here. Leia, Leia, break the news here. Break the news here.
Leia
It's a little soon, guys. It's a little soon, but I think that is the goal. He actually asked me. He was like, so, like, when do you want to, like, get engaged? And I was like, probably you can propose next year. Like early next year or 2026.
Kathy
This 2020?
Leia
No, no, not 2020. Like 2027. Like one more year.
Kathy
How. How old is he, leia?
Leia
He is 30.
Susan
And tell me, how is he different than any other guy you dated?
Kathy
Well, she said he's patient. He's. Well, not.
Susan
Any other guy wasn't patient, I think.
Leia
I mean, I date in la, which is always really rough. I think dating anywhere can be really rough. But I think a lot of the guys that I've dated here have been, like, very superficial sometimes. I think they value things that, you know, are so fleeting. And I honestly, truly have never met a guy in LA who is as family oriented as him.
Susan
Yeah. And that says a lot.
Kathy
And you want kids, right?
Leia
Yes, I want kids. I want them.
Kathy
Okay. Did I give you good advice on Paradise?
Leia
You gave the best advice, Kathy. I wish they aired more of our skin together.
Kathy
Okay. So do I. How old are you, Leia?
Leia
I'm 25. About to be 26. February.
Kathy
Okay. All right. You can wait another year. I was just gonna say, you know, if you get engaged a year plus from now, and then you gotta take a year or two to plan a wedding. You know, I'm. I'm all about love. So is Susan. I say get engaged in 2026 and see where it goes.
Susan
Okay, So I want to know, do you.
Leia
I did tell him to stay for the ring.
Kathy
Hey, listen, have him call me. I have a jeweler.
Susan
Start saving.
Kathy
I got a guy. I'll take care of him.
Susan
Are you sharing this with all your followers?
Leia
Oh, I haven't yet.
Susan
Yes. Are you keeping private about it?
Leia
I think I want to definitely share more, but to be transparent, I just had this, like, really fun brand deal, and I wanted to, like, hard launch him with that, and it just went live, so I'll probably post more of him now. Okay, good, good.
Kathy
Wow. Well, what about your TikTok followers?
Leia
They're definitely more nosy. I think they love. I think they love it. I think they're very curious. I'll probably do, like. I'll probably share a little bit more, but I had to give you guys the. The first dib.
Susan
Yes, we're the hard launch here.
Kathy
Well, listen, here's what I'm saying. Can't you just get engaged for the sake of our podcast? And then you can rethink it next week?
Susan
You can do it on it. We'll have Ricky on as well. Okay. He can propose on the podcast.
Kathy
Oh, come on. What? Maybe the most. That would be so romantic.
Podcast Announcer
What?
Kathy
Getting engaged on our. I can't think of anything more. Leave it.
Susan
He's going to step behind you. We're going to know about it. We can figure out the scene. Did he watch your shows? Has he seen your. Has he seen you on either show that you were on? He has watched it after meeting you. He watched it or prior to meeting you?
Leia
We watched a few. Maybe, like, two episodes of paradise together.
Susan
Okay.
Leia
But nothing before that. He's. I mean, he's. I've shown him, like, little clips that I thought were funny.
Kathy
But what if. What. Wait, what if Ricky had been on the Bachelorette or Paradise? How would that. Tell me how that would.
Leia
I would have swooped him right up. Y' all would have got an engagement out of me, Sue.
Susan
Like, that would have been perfect.
Kathy
Wait, so you're saying you would have swooped right in on him?
Leia
100. That's my husband, Kathy.
Susan
Oh, I love this.
Kathy
I love it. Oh, wait. Excuse me. Could we say that again for a cut? For this? I would like. I would like everyone in Bachelor Nation to know. Leia just said she has met her husband, and we are so happy for you. And I want to come to the wedding.
Susan
What is his greenest green flag? Like, what's the best part? Just one word.
Podcast Announcer
What?
Susan
Do you have.
Leia
One word? Probably, like, just kind. He's very kind.
Susan
I like this. I like it.
Kathy
Tell me, Leia, what was the moment? I mean, women use this term all the time about feeling safe and being seen. I actually need to start using that terminology for myself as soon as I meet the guy, because I hear women say that all the time. That that's why they fell in love. They felt seen, and they feel safe with that person. So was there a moment that that happened for you? I mean, you said he was kind and all that, but what was. Was there a moment? Tell me.
Leia
Yes, I think there was. I think one time he was like, I wanted ice cream. And he was like, perfect, I'll pick you up in a few minutes. Just be ready to go get some ice cream. And I put on a bald cap and a suit, and I was dressed up like Steve Harvey, and he thought it was adorable. Where one might think it's weird. And that's how I knew he was the one, because he kissed me in a belt in a bald cap.
Kathy
You're saying because you didn't look beautiful, glamorous, didn't have your makeup done, you were just kind of hanging loose? Is that what you're saying? You weren't?
Leia
Yeah, I was just like, I think he just.
Susan
I love it when they get you, you know?

Kathy
What about your relationship might surprise your fans?
Leia
Surprise them? Probably just the whole thing. I think that I've been such a man hater online, and now they're like, oh, my gosh, she looks so happy. And so I think, yeah, fans are probably just. Yeah, they're probably just like, whoa, like, who is this guy? I think they're just really curious.
Susan
Leah, if any, what advice would you give to your fans who are still waiting to find their person?
Leia
Definitely, I would say be open. Date them all. Because I think that while you're in that exploratory phase of, like, still finding someone, you're. You need time. Like, I always think about dating as, like, I hate to put it this way, but like a job interview, you're not going to hire the first person that you meet off the street. Sometimes you got to interview a few people. You got to get to know. You gotta put yourself out there. I think just being open and making sure that you're finding the positives in the journey and the experience and not being like, oh, this sucks. Like, I'm not finding anyone. Like, instead, be like, oh, that day was wonderful because I learned this about him or this about myself or I got a nice dinner. Sometimes it's not always like, yay, I found my husband. But, like, you can find, you know, little friends along the way.
Kathy
Yeah. This is a new Leia from the Leia I knew in paradise. What? How do you.
Leia
How do you. Why do you mean that? What do you mean?
Kathy
I love this. Well, no, I just. Listen, I love how happy you are, how happy you seem. I'm so glad you have found your person that you're getting engaged on our podcast that he's calling me to find out what ring you want. I just, I'm so thrilled. But listen, today, not only are we Celebrating your love. But we're going to try something new on our podcast. Okay.
Susan
This is going to be fun.
Kathy
We asked our listeners to submit their confessions to us anonymously online. We're going to read them, speculate, respond, you name it, we're just going to talk about it. Are you ready to join in on that with us?
Leia
Let's do it.
Kathy
It's going to be. I mean, who doesn't want to tell their deepest, darkest secret anonymously? I mean, I know I do. So you ready?
Virgin Voyages Advertiser
Yeah.
Leia
Let's do it.
Kathy
Have you ever done this? Just real quickly, have you ever given a confession, deep, dark confession to anyone anonymously?
Leia
I don't think so. I'm a pretty open book though.
Susan
All three of us, I think.
Kathy
Here's the first one. My husband doesn't know. I hooked up with a colleague on a work trip. What do you think?
Leia
Oh, my gosh. You dirty, dirty girl.
Susan
Whoa. I have questions.
Leia
Yeah, I have a lot of questions.
Susan
We hooked up with a work colleague. Is it continuing or is it just a one time thing?
Kathy
I'm sorry, does it matter?
Susan
I mean, it doesn't.
Leia
It really doesn't.
Susan
It doesn't. But. There's a but.
Kathy
What's the but? I can hardly.
Susan
Like, some people make a huge mistake. They drank too much or whatever and they kiss somebody and they're like, oh, my God, next day.
Kathy
I need to explain to you vernacular. Hooked up does not mean a peck on the cheek. Leia, would you explain to. Because I've tried millions. Yeah. What hooking up means.
Leia
So the penetration was there.
Susan
Yeah, to me.
Leia
You don't like that.
Kathy
I mean, it could happen to anybody. You ate a chocolate bar, you had sex. It just happened.
Susan
Once again, my hooked up still means just kissing.
Kathy
Sorry, it doesn't.
Susan
Hooked up, we're getting late.
Leia
Yeah, I think, yeah, maybe we don't know what it means, but I do think that your spouse deserves to know and maybe like work. Either work through that or.
Kathy
Oh, wait, that was my question. So do we tell your spouse? You. Hey, Ricky, Ricky, Ricky, I gotta tell you something here. Leia hooked up with her boss last night at the Christmas party. How you feeling, Leia?
Leia
First of all, Kathy, I'm unemployed, I'm self employed. But no, that's terrible. I would, I don't, I don't ever condone cheating. And like, if, if that happened to me, I might go to jail. Like, you know what I mean?
Kathy
Not.
Susan
Okay, all right, how about this one? My husband thinks I've only been with one other man besides him. But in reality, it's 10 oh period queen. I mean, everybody has a past. Yeah, I don't think that's that important that he has to know every single person you were with.
Leia
Yeah, I agree.
Kathy
Oh, wait a minute. If Ricky says to you, aren't you glad we know Ricky? Now if Ricky says to you, darling Leia, I'm buying you a five carat emerald and diamond. I'm having it handmade. Kathy's helping me work this out. And I'm so glad to know I'm your first.
Susan
Oh, first.
Leia
Well, but, but here's the thing. I personally, my personal preference. I wouldn't. I don't think I would be with a man who, who is so stuck on the past and is like so like consumed by what happened before we met. You know, I don't think that. I think that's like an ego issue and a confidence issue.
Kathy
So wait, if Ricky. I can't. Poor Ricky. But I keep bringing him in. But if a man that you're dating. Oh wait, that happens to be Ricky asks you, hey, Leah, how many guys have you slept with before? Would you say, well, I need my fingers, my toes and my every strand of hair to count them all, or are you gonn make up some random number?
Leia
No, I would just tell them. And like, if you are. Are being weird about it, then that's an issue that you have because that has nothing to do with where I'm at now, who I am now.
Susan
Right, right. It's a past.
Leia
Exactly. Past. And I don't think there's any like, reason you need to bring it into your current.
Kathy
All right, I like it. All right, here's one for you, girl.
Susan
What she writes.
Kathy
Yeah. How about this one for you? I take, you know that engagement ring you don't have yet.
Podcast Announcer
Okay.
Kathy
I want you to pretend you have it on your hand.
Leia
Okay.
Kathy
I take my engagement ring off when I'm out with my friends. Somebody confessed to this online.
Susan
Not.
Kathy
She takes her engagement ring off when I'm out with my friends. What do you think?
Leia
Well, I think you just probably don't love your fiance maybe. And you're still looking. And that's okay to still be looking.
Kathy
But if you're engaged, that's it, I.
Leia
Think then you just have to unengage yourself because clearly you're not. There's nothing. There's a wife and you're taking it off.
Susan
Somebody better comes along. Is that the idea?
Leia
So curious.
Kathy
Yeah, that's why the divorce rate's so high.
Susan
Oh boy. Okay. I read my Boyfriend's text once a week to see if he's talking about me to his friends or family.
Leia
Oh, okay.
Kathy
So she reads her boyfriend's text once a week. She. She's in that phone. What do you think?
Leia
Okay, I think people need to meditate, and I think people need to be more grounded, and I think people have a lot of hurt that is unhealed because there's no reason I don't. I've never gone through Ricky's phone. He's never gone through mine. I think we're both just healed individuals that trust each other very deeply. And I think that's like, an inside.
Kathy
Issue of control of that answer. I was going to go with a much simpler answer. Have a 24 number password that she can't possibly memorize.
Susan
You know, be careful what you wish for, be careful what you're looking for. Some things you don't want to know, you know?
Podcast Announcer
Yeah.
Susan
That could start a huge problem.
Kathy
I say delete what you don't want known. All right. After I met my future husband at a party, I kissed his best friend later that same night. We never told anyone, and my husband still doesn't know to this day. They weren't engaged yet. They. I mean, they may have been engaged, but they weren't married. No, it says, I met my future husband at a party, so they weren engaged. It was. She ultimately married this guy, but she kissed his best friend that same night. So she meets the guy that night and kisses his best friend. I say this is much ado about nothing, but what do you say?
Leia
Yeah, I think that's kind of funny and, like, iconic.
Susan
Yeah, that's cool.
Leia
It's like. Yeah, that's funny.
Susan
Yeah.
Leia
Who cares? Okay.
Susan
Oh, my gosh. I told my boyfriend I was pregnant so he would be nice to. To me. Wait a minute. Was she making it up that she was pregnant? I'm hoping that she really was pregnant.
Leia
No, I think she wasn't pregnant. She just wanted him to be nicer.
Susan
Oh, my God.
Leia
Then I think you need to leave your boyfriend if he's that much of an asshole.
Susan
Really?
Leia
You shouldn't have to be nice. Yeah, you shouldn't have to trick him into being nice.
Susan
Why would he be nicer if you're pregnant?
Kathy
I mean, I'm thinking if he doesn't want a baby, he's gonna be a dick. He's a dick. I mean, I'm saying he's gonna give you the plan B if he'. What the hell are you thinking? I don't think that's I. I don't even. I don't. That one doesn't even make sense. All right, let's move along. Oh boy.

Kathy
I never told my husband that I'm bisexual.
Leia
I think you should share. If you love that person and you trust them and you should be able to share openly like you're who you are and not be ashamed of it.
Kathy
No, I mean, this is the problem.
Susan
Is are you going to act on it? Do you need it?
Leia
Yeah. But I think it makes me sad that they didn't feel comfortable enough.
Susan
Yeah, okay. I want another baby. And my wife and I agreed to only two kids, but I can't stop thinking about having a third.
Leia
Well, I think that's something you need to mutually agree on. And a child is so much responsibility.
Susan
Oh, baby. You know how people think that's going to save the marriage? They're just going to have a baby and when they're struggling in marriage and it doesn't it really?
Kathy
Well, I wonder do you think he's talked to her about it? He doesn't say. Here. He said, I can't stop thinking about it. I want another baby. They only agreed to having two. I want to know if he's talked to her.
Leia
Yeah, maybe just ask. Yeah, people are so weird. Like, just talk about it. Just ask.
Susan
Because they agreed on only too well.
Kathy
Yeah, but that doesn't mean they've had the conversation.
Susan
Maybe. Yeah.
Leia
Yeah, just chat it up. I think people are too scared to chat with each other, and I don't know why.
Susan
Communication, it's key. Oh, wait. I get butterflies for my assistant at work.
Leia
Oh, my gosh.
Kathy
I mean, you're not supposed to where you sleep, but if you're both single, who cares?
Susan
But just getting butterflies is okay. But are they single?
Kathy
You don't know.
Leia
Oh, I mean, yeah. You just might have to move departments. That's fine.
Kathy
Like. Like, get another job. I mean, I don't think there's anything wrong with having. I don't either. I read some of these things. I'm like, if this is the worst confession you have, go back and live life again.
Leia
I know.
Kathy
Wait, I have to read this one because I think the word is very strong, but I lived it. I lived it. Okay, Now, I wouldn't use the word hate, but close enough. I hate my husband's mom and sister. They were mean to me. So mean. What do you think about that, Leah?
Leia
I think that's so tough because I've definitely experienced some tough, like, in past relationships, like in laws, and once again, like, I'm such a family girl. So that was very, very. That was like, honestly one of the things that ended the relationship. But I think it's tough, and I think you just need to work with your partner and be a unit and be a team and. And kind of unpack that and maybe, like, try to get to the bottom of it, because ultimately, if you marry that person, that's your family, too. You don't marry the person. You marry their whole family. So.
Kathy
Well, Whoa, wait. I'm sorry, since I got interrupt, but look, what if the mom and the sister are just downright mean to you? They're. They're just. They dis. They. They diss you. They're mean to you. They don't care because you took their little boy away.
Susan
Ew.
Leia
Then, like, you have him, like, you date him. Then, like, no, you're married.
Kathy
You love your husband.
Leia
Why did you marry him?
Kathy
Well, because when I married my husband, he loved me and made me his life. But his Mother. Well, his sister. What? He had two sisters. One sister just a mean cow. She still is. The other one is fine because my husband was only son and he was her, you know, he was everything, her gold. I got in the way. It happened.
Leia
Did your husband ever like set boundaries with his family?
Kathy
He tried, I think.
Leia
Then there comes a point. It's his job. What's that, Kath?
Kathy
No, I'm agreeing with you. It was his job. But it's very difficult. And I hope for your sake, Leah, that you never have a mother in law who's like that. Because I can tell you I have friends who are living it right now. And it's not fun and it's not easy and it's hard on holidays and birthdays and other family events.
Susan
It's hard on the marriage.
Kathy
I want to take all these mother in laws, shake them till their teeth or false teeth or dentures rattle and.
Susan
Say, and I want everyone anonymously that wrote in, give us a little more detail so we can really give a good opinion. Some of them I'm guessing, like, right.
Leia
We're assuming things.
Podcast Announcer
Yeah.
Kathy
Yeah.
Susan
Get butterflies for your assistant at work. Are you married and you're having butterflies for the other person.
Kathy
You know, we'd like your name and what Susan saying.
Susan
No, I don't care about the name.
Kathy
And phone number to confirm though.
Podcast Announcer
Just give me a little more.
Leia
I need visuals.
Susan
And keep writing, keep sending them in because I like these confessions.
Kathy
We want even juicier ones. We know those you out there, we know that you've got some juicy confessions to make. It is anonymous. It's not like the irs. We're not tracking your IP number. Do it. Let us know who you. Let us know what you've done and we will talk about and we'll let you know whether you were right or wrong because you really want to know that.
Leia
But I think it's cute that the.
Susan
One girl said, I met my future husband at a party but I kissed his best friend at the same thing. Like that's adorable. She's being honest. Like that's the worst you have. You're fine, babe.
Kathy
That's what I said.
Podcast Announcer
Yeah.
Kathy
That's why I want some juicy ones.
Leia
It will always work out how it needs to because clearly you married your husband.
Susan
Yes. Yes.
Kathy
Look at. She's such an eternal optimist. Okay, well, I say that's gonna do it for today's episode. Leia, thank you for joining us. Thank you for sharing your wisdom, your beauty, your kindness, the fact that you're gonna get engaged on our podcast. All of these things.
