New York, NY My new obsession is this romance story I read about a cowboy who wants to start a family with a city girl. She's not ready for that yet, but that doesn't mean she's not ready to roll around in the hay. She has Nexplanon Etonogestrel Implant 68 milligram Radiopaque Prevent pregnancy Nexplanon is a non daily prescription birth control for women that goes in your arm. It lasts for three years and can be removed by your doctor at any time. If your plans change, nexplanon must be removed by the end of the third year. Don't use nexplanon if you're pregnant or maybe pregnant, have or had blood clots or certain cancers, have liver disease, liver tumor or unexplained vaginal bleeding. Once the implant is placed, you and your doctor should feel for it and if at any time you can't feel the implant, contact your doctor right away and use a non hormonal birth control method such as condoms. Removal of the implant may be difficult or impossible if it isn't where it should be. While uncommon ectopic pregnancy, pregnancy that occurs outside the womb can occur which can cause serious internal bleeding, infertility and even death. You are likely to experience changes to your period. Ovarian cysts may occur and usually disappear. Nexplanon may raise the chance of serious blood clots which which can cause heart attack, stroke or death, especially if you smoke or have other risk factors. Nexplanon doesn't protect against HIV or STDs. With less than one pregnancy per 100 women who use Nexplanon for one year, Nexplanon is over 99% effective. No matter the fantasy, talk to your doctor. Call 1-877-467-5266 or visit nesplanon.com for more information. Ask your doctor about Nexplanon.

Welcome back to Bachelor Happy Hours Golden Hour. Thank you all for joining us. We're so excited to be back.
Susan
And make sure to check out our latest episodes because we've been having so much fun, not only answering your questions and chatting with your Bachelor Nation favorites, but giving our advice and our opinions on what you write in.
Kathy
Okay, so today we have a very special guest. Please welcome my very good friend, our very good friend from our season of Golden Bachelor, Leslie. Hey Leslie, how are you doing? Welcome, welcome.
Leslie
So good to see you.
Susan
Long Time, though. See, I was. I had FOMO so bad when you guys were there.
Kathy
I almost don't recognize you. Leslie, you're not in a bathing suit, in a cover up.
Leslie
Oh, wait, wait, wait. You want to know something? It's funny that you said it. As soon as we're done here, my pool is still open. It's 90° in Minneapolis today.
Susan
Oh, my God.
Leslie
And I do have my bathing suit.
Kathy
Look, she's ready to go.
Susan
All right, we have so much we want to dive into today and a short amount of time, so let's get things started.
Kathy
Okay, we're going to question you.
Susan
First of all, what word would you use to describe your paradise experience?
Leslie
One word. Oh, my God. Okay, that's three. I. I know, I'm. There's not one. Fabulous.
Susan
That's a good thing.
Kathy
I mean, it was, it was. Okay, listen, this is my. My question for you is very self serving. How did it feel reuniting your friendships with the other golden ladies? Hi.
Leslie
Well, it was really funny because when I got in the van that first day and you guys are waiting for me because I kind of goofed up on the time, whatever, but you were waiting for me and you're all waiting for me. And I got in and it was like at first I was. You know, we hadn't seen each other in so long and. And it was just like. It was like a beat where I had to go, wait a minute, here are my girls. Okay. Hi, guys. Yeah, it was really. And then it was like we. It was like we had never been without.
Susan
Yeah, it was because we had.
Leslie
You would have been there. Right there.
Susan
That's a well crazy place.
Leslie
We never missed a beat.
Kathy
And we, Leslie, you and I shared a room in Paradise. And I have to say, sharing a room with you was so much fun. Watching Leslie do her makeup and her clothes, I mean, it was just fun. It was fun to get to know you.
Leslie
We did have fun. I mean, my whole bedtime thing, routine. Kathy's sitting there going, what's that now? What's that? What are you doing there? What are you. That's funny.
Kathy
Routine of face stuffing.
Leslie
I did.
Susan
And you don't. Kathy, you do the same thing.
Leslie
Yeah.
Kathy
Different style.
Susan
Leslie, is there anything you would have done differently in paradise had you had the opportunity to do it again?
Leslie
You know, I don't think so, Susan. I mean, I kind of just, you know, I'm that kind of girl where I go along to get along. I mean, I just was there. I. I felt really good about experiencing the Whole thing, I felt like Gary.
Susan
I thought you guys were.
Leslie
Yeah. I mean, right. Wrong.
Susan
In the beginning there.
Leslie
Yeah, We. You know, again, they didn't. They didn't have a lot of guys for us. So, I mean, it was. It was kind of what it was. But, you know, I felt like we were just kind of. I felt like we were kind of like one big happy family. To be honest, I didn't feel that there was.
Kathy
But, Leslie, let me ask you something. So. And actually, to be fair, you and I've sort of touched on this before with Gary Turner. That is the Gary from our season. You were. Obviously, everyone knows you were very emotionally invested and had your heart broken at the time. But now let's fast forward to paradise, what you just said. None of the guys you knew, we all knew. We were all friends. The guys knew we were friends. The gals knew we were friends. Friends, friends, friends. But in a way, didn't it make you for me? I mean, Gary was never interested in me, and I was never interested in him or Gary. But didn't it make it fun for you knowing when you came to paradise, that we were just gonna be there for the youngins? We were gonna have fun together? Wasn't that sort of freeing, in a way?
Leslie
How do you feel? It was so freeing. I felt like a big weight was off, you know? And I mean, you know, we had talked about it if our guy walked down the beach, and we would be like, you know, this is our guy.
Kathy
Leslie and I kept walking. Leslie, we kept walking down the beach, remember, in the mornings, going down. Where is he? Is he coming? Are they bringing him this morning?
Leslie
But, you know. But other than that, I felt it was just, like, so much pressure when people say, did you have a better experience than a golden. It wasn't like a better experience. It was just different and different. It was just. It was just. I. I guess maybe a little more fun in a way, because I felt.
Susan
It was more freeing. You had more time, and you got to know. Yeah, couples, too.
Leslie
It wasn't just not in competition and not like, is he gonna talk to me? Is he not? You know, that whole thing and.
Kathy
Right.
Leslie
So it was just different. And maybe I'm different, too. So I don't.
Susan
Okay. Tell me about your dating life. Are you out there? Are you dating yet? Anybody special?
Leslie
No, no, no to all those. I. I mean, people don't get it, Leslie.
Kathy
People don't understand. And I've said this to you when you and I've talked, Leslie, you're a beautiful person. Inside and out.
Leslie
Thank you.
Kathy
Why men do not, you know, are not. I talk to CK A lot. CK is always saying to me, kathy, why don't you have a guy? Why doesn't Leslie have a guy? Why doesn't Nancy have a guy? And I'm always saying, ck, you know, get your buddies and line them up and send them. Because they don't reach out to us.
Susan
I wish you could just answer that. I mean, really, why do you.
Leslie
I can't answer. I don't. I mean, you know, part of it, you know, living in a. Living. I'm not a small town. Minneapolis. Not a small town, but I've lived here my whole life. And so I know people. I knew. I knew people before I got on the show, you know, because I was teaching all the time, and I had tons of people in my classes. So. And it's just, you know, it's like a small, big town, so you just know everybody.
Susan
If you met the right person, would you leave that town?
Leslie
You know, I. I don't know.
Kathy
Leslie, come on. We've talked about this. Come on.
Leslie
I'm not leaving my grandkids. I'm not leaving my grandkids. No.
Kathy
But. But I.
Leslie
Would you definite go back and forth. I mean, who wants to be here in the winter? It's. But, you know, but. But I love summers, and I love, like, October is my favorite month. But I. My grandkids are here. But, yes, I would definitely travel. I would go, I would come back. I would keep my condo here all the time.
Susan
And I mean, never give up your base. Right? Home base. But you would go, stay with them for a few months and then come back.
Leslie
Yes, exactly.
Susan
And both parties would have to be willing. Correct?
Leslie
Exactly.
Kathy
And the reason I pushed you is because you and I've talked, Leslie, and you. You always initially say, I will leave my grandchildren. But you would. You would just like. I would, if, for the right guy, go back and forth.
Leslie
If I. If I'm cuckoo, crazy about him, I will follow him to the ends of the earth. You know, that's just. I'm like that. I'm hopeless romantic. But he's got to come to Minneapolis, too.
Susan
I've been. I've been. I say that all my life. And somebody corrected me and said, that was me. Hopeful.
Kathy
It was me. Hopeful, hope, romantic.
Leslie
Oh, okay.
Kathy
Susie kept saying, I'm a hopeless romantic. Susan, full romantics. But Leslie, you better.
Leslie
Yeah.
Kathy
Would you date a lot? Because, Leslie, you look young, you act young. You know, we're going to talk about your dancing In a minute. How young would you date? And I'm serious when I asked this.
Leslie
Yeah, I know. Well, I joke about I would never date anyone that's 39, because that's my oldest child, but. And I wouldn't date anyone 49. I don't think I would maybe go 55, 56, because that's 10 years younger. I mean, I don't know. You know, dating. Dating young for me is like 60. I know. I know.
Kathy
Like, dating young for you. What, Leslie? Yeah.
Leslie
Dating young for me is 60, you know, and I say, I, you know, I'd go younger. 60, you know.
Kathy
Yeah.
Susan
But it's not like we're out looking for an age. You know what I mean?
Leslie
It depends on the person. I'm not looking for an age. I'm not looking for an age at all. But I, you know, I just. I gotta keep it real, you know?
Kathy
Well, also, you know, you work, you teach dance, which I want to know. What's your favorite dance? What is your favorite style of dance?
Leslie
Well, it's hip hop.
Kathy
But do you dance other dances, though?
Leslie
I don't. I've never ballroom danced in my life.
Susan
I like Latin.
Leslie
Yeah. I mean, I can do it.
Kathy
You have never ballroom dance, Leslie.
Leslie
Never.
Kathy
You'd be good at it.
Leslie
Salsa, I mean. Well, when Gary and I went on our date, it was salsa, I guess. I guess. You call that salsa. I was just following his lead. I don't dance like that.
Susan
Yeah.
Leslie
You know, so.
Kathy
So, okay, so.
Leslie
But I, you know, I dance. I teach. I teach hip hop. I teach kids hip hop. My dance class is called Dance Jam. It's like follow along dancing. And I choreograph every song. So, you know, I mean, when I want to come, I know you. It's so much fun.
Kathy
I want to come to a class.
Leslie
When people say, oh, you're a dancer? I'm like, I don't really call myself a dancer. I call myself a fitness dancer.
Susan
Fitness, exactly.
Leslie
Yeah.
Susan
And like a fun way to exercise.
Leslie
Yeah, exactly. And I mean, of course I can dance, and I've taken dance my whole life in skating, but. And I'm choreographing a bride and her groom dance on Saturday. I do things like that, you know, so. And I've done flash mobs and I've done all that stuff, but, you know, I'm not any. I'm not like Tate McCray or anything like that, you know, so the dancer, who do you.
Kathy
Who do you. What are the qualities? Like, I feel like, you know, you've been married before and you've dated. What if you could find the guy? What are the really important characteristics for him to have?
Leslie
They have to be funny. They have to make me laugh. I mean, we all love to laugh, all of us. I feel like they. Yeah. Sense of humor. They have to align with my moral compass with. That's a few things. We don't need to talk about that. But they have to align with that. They have to be fit.
Kathy
Oh, no, no, no. Wait, wait, wait. Morally, what is a moral compass? Exactly. I think really you're saying. And we don't have to say which side of the aisle you're on. But. But I know for a fact, Leslie, that you want someone who you can. Who shares your political ideology. And that's really important. And there's nothing wrong with that.
Leslie
It's important to me. It's important to me. It's more important to me than religion, to be honest. I don't need someone Jewish. You know, I just don't want someone uber religious on whether a Jew or a non Jew. You know, like, I don't want someone. I'm very more traditional Jewish. I'm not like, you know, I don't celebrate.
Kathy
Would you live with a guy if you weren't married? Really? Can I tell you a very funny story? You'll laugh at this. You know, I grew up in a very Jewish neighborhood and all my friends were Jewish. And what is the. What is the. Is it Passover when you have to have the separate. In the kosher household? You have to have the separate spoon, separate silverware for milk and dairy? For dairy and milk, yes.
Leslie
If you keep kosher.
Kathy
Yeah, well, they kept kosher. Yeah, they kept kosher.
Leslie
That's nanahe.
Kathy
They kept kosher, Right? You're right. They kept kosher. And what did I know? They had to bury the silverware in the backyard. Yeah, I mean, yeah, they did. Moving right along.
Leslie
Did you bring a cheeseburger in or something?
Kathy
I don't know. I think I dipped my fork and the steak and then dipped it in the yogurt. I don't know. Whatever I did, I screwed up.

Susan
Who would you say you're closest to in Bachelor Nation?
Leslie
Well, I mean I'm gonna be honest with you, Theresa and I are very close but I have to say since paradise I feel like I'm really close to Kathy.
Kathy
Oh, thank you, I do.
Susan
Have you spent time you slept in the same room?
Leslie
That's what happens.
Kathy
But Leslie, I love you for saying that. I feel the same way, but we've also had some, you know, hard conversations, and I love that. That we can share, because that, to me, is what a really good friendship. Be honest, Whether we're talking about a man. You know, a relationship with a. A man or a. A female friendship, I think those are important, when those are important qualities to have. And you. And I've been able to do that, and I really appreciate that. So thank you.
Leslie
Thank you. I mean, you know, Teresa and Ellen and Sandra. I mean, you guys, I. You know, I love all of you guys. I just feel like Kathy, you know, I'm sure you understand the. Susan. She says what. She says what is in her head. There's no filter. And sometimes she says it over and over and over again. And then sometimes. And then sometimes I have to. You have. You stop. You have to stop saying that to me. You know, like, I feel like I could say anything to her.
Kathy
Yeah.
Leslie
And not hurt her feelings.
Kathy
And I think that I'm gonna take that as a compliment because I. And I do try to not repeat myself, but. You're right, Leslie. I'm. I am guilty of that sometimes, but, you know, when I go on my next date, I'm not doing it.
Susan
Do you stay in contact with anybody else from paradise?
Leslie
Yeah. Oh, from paradise. Well, you know what I do? I text those. Those young girls. I. You know, Leigh and I are texting a lot. Kat. You know, Paris. You know, I got really close with Parisa. I just love them so much. I say, you know, I'm sure that Kathy feels like this, too. She stayed on longer, but I feel like I came home with, like, six daughters.
Susan
Yeah. You know, and how did you watch the end of the show, obviously? And how did you feel about the end?
Leslie
I. It was perfect.
Susan
The ending was so happy for them.
Leslie
Couldn't be. It was exactly what I thought of how I was going to end, to be honest. So I just.
Kathy
Can I just say, Leslie, you and I are doing something wrong because Alex and Andrew are in Tokyo, Japan, with Greg. Wait, I don't know what's going on over there, but they're traveling there. Bailey's getting ready to go to China and somewhere else. They were in Portugal this summer. Like, what are you and I doing wrong?
Leslie
All right, well, you guys went on.
Susan
We go to St. Martin. We go every year, Leslie. The door is always open.
Leslie
Well, I want to, but I have my retreat, and I don't know. I'm just. I feel like it's already, like, Piling on.
Kathy
Well, you know, sometimes, Leslie, sometimes if you want your life to be different, you gotta do something different.
Leslie
I'm going to LA in a week. Then I'm going to New York. And, you know, I am making my own way.
Kathy
Wait, what do you want LA for New York?
Leslie
Well, I'm going to. I told you I was going to la because I'm going to the kind of. I'm. I'm the smoke spokesperson for the, for the suicide prevention. The, you know, the Katie Hirsch suicide prevention. And they're doing a walk run at UCLA on Sunday the 28th, and I'm going to be there and people can walk with me and God, I would.
Kathy
Have loved to have done that.
Leslie
Sorry. New York, New York. I'm doing a few things. I'm doing podcast. The timing was never right, but it's right this time. So I'm going to do that and then I'm going to see Stephen Colbert. I cannot wait. It's kind of on my bucket list. I'm taking April. I know, the percussionist, and she's getting me tickets. And so that's great. What date?
Susan
When is this?
Leslie
That's October 14th or something like that. And Theresa's coming and she's meeting me in New York and I'm going to be teaching a class at Lifetime in Long Island. Oh, you should come to my class at lifetime.
Susan
October 10th.
Kathy
We'll do this later. We can do this later. You can do that.
Susan
We're going to move into our advice portion of the episode. We're going to kick things off with our question of the day. So, Leslie, we definitely would love your thoughts on this. Okay, the question of the day. So many young people fear getting older. What advice do you have to anyone that's afraid of aging?
Leslie
That's a good question. But that is an easy one for me to answer because people, the young people, I'm sure they. Same thing with you guys. They come up to me all the time and they said, you make looking older so, like, easy and great. And I don't fear it when I look at you guys and, you know, the golden Bachelor girls. So basically I just say, you know, the other day I did like a Talk with like 15, 22 year olds and they asked me all these questions and I said. And they said, which? You know, they. Same question. I said, you know what, you guys, this is what I say. Just live life. Never say no to anything. You know, always, you know, think first before you say some things, but be free. Just be free and open to things. And just experience, you know, experience life because that's really all we've got. We've got our family, we've got our, our experiences. And you know, I did say you got to take care of yourself because when you get older, your body is your temple and it's really your only thing, you know, that you've got to be strong.
Susan
Qualities about aging, like what we know, what we've learned throughout life and you don't worry about the small things so much.
Leslie
I know I feel bad for them because they're always worrying about things and I'm like just so hard for us to say that to them when they're so.
Kathy
So Leslie, you must be reading our mind because the, the question of the day actually leads into our advice portion of the episode. And so I'm going to ask you a couple of questions and it actually is just a follow on of what you just started to talk about. What advice do you have to Goldens or other adults that are past their 30s? You know that we still struggle with body image and fitness. We, Susan and I get so many write ins asking for advice about dealing with body changes, you know, especially during pregnancy. What advice do you have for anyone struggling with maintaining fitness or finding a place for it in their lives? So it's, it's not just, you know, the 30 year olds. We all. So I'm curious what you think.
Leslie
Yeah, I mean I have actually my book club, they're younger than me and they are going through menopause right now and I was just with them last night and I said the best thing you guys can do for your bodies when you're getting older is do weight bearing exercises. I mean we all need to lift weights when we get older because that is what's going to keep our bones healthy. And you know, as far as just, you know, even if you have a small set of weights in your house and just do, you know, you can go online and find any exercise and 10 minute workout, you know, you don't have to. If you don't want to go to a gym, you don't have to. But I would just say, you know, got to keep moving. I mean really, you got to get off the couch. You got to keep moving.
Kathy
You and I, Leslie, we've talked about this. You and I in paradise. We were doing our push ups on the beach, lifting weights. We were, yeah, we, we are as fit as any of those youngins.
Leslie
Probably I was lifting Kathy over my head.
Susan
Yeah.
Kathy
But probably more fit than some of them.
Susan
But here's I'll pay to see that.
Kathy
Yeah, no, that's overstated the case. Just a tit, but one. I train with weights. I have a trainer. I train. I'm in the gym three days a week. I power walk. You know, we talked about it last year.
Leslie
Yeah.
Kathy
But one thing that I think goldens, really, anyone over the age of between 40 and 50 and onwards, it's all about fitness, keeping your bones strong, all of that, being able to move. But it's also about not breaking bones, right. And having balance and having strength. Because as we get older.
Leslie
I broke my elbow, you broke your wrist.
Kathy
I mean, and it's because freak accidents are going to happen. But when we, you and I and people who work out a lot, if we tend to, you know, jostle and lose, we can regain our balance because we've done. We spend a lot of time doing.
Leslie
Except when you're walking in heels and water, then you fall and break your elbow.
Susan
But take it for me, one that didn't work out ever. And it's never too late because I've just begun and I am lifting. And it's a struggle. It really is. But to me, it's like a challenge.
Kathy
But it becomes a part of your life, Susan, if you do it long enough.
Leslie
Yeah, you know what, you guys, It's a habit. A habit. It takes 30 days to get into a habit. I think it takes 30 days to break a habit. Whatever.
Susan
But there's people that are struggling saying, well, I never worked out.
Kathy
I'm going to do this.
Susan
I can't do that. You can do it. You can.
Leslie
Yeah, you can.
Susan
It's important. And just put one foot in front of the other.
Leslie
I mean, it's easy for me to say because it's always been a part of my life. Well, yes, I never had to start somehow, you know, but I would just, you know, I'm a motivator. I just want people to get healthy and be healthy and strong. And, you know, some young people need to get up and move, too. It's like, you know, the good thing about, like, the Pilates craze with, like, I teach up every former class, but that is helping younger people exercise because they really like that class and they're, like, in there all the time.
Susan
I love the reformer.
Leslie
So. Yeah. So it's hard. Kind of a movement. It is hard. I know.
Kathy
What do you tell women, Leslie? Cause I'm sure you teach them in your dance classes, women who've just had babies, pregnancy. Because for me, that was a struggle to get fit again. After having babies, you know, do you have those ladies in your class?
Leslie
Well, I do have people coming in, but I just always say take it slow. You know, even in my reformer class today, I had somebody that just had a baby, and she just did what she could. I mean, you. You're showing up. You're. That's the first. That's the hardest part. You're showing up, you're there, you're ready to go. Whether you do half the class or a few exercises, Take a break. I don't care. And I always say that to people. Don't worry if you can't follow me. I mean, just go at your own pace.
Kathy
It's funny when people talk about finding time, finding a place in their lives for fitness. I've said this to Susan, like, put down your games on your computer. Everyone has 24 hours in their day. Anybody can find starting out 10 minutes for fitness. And you don't start out like you and I do, lifting weights and working out the way we do. But we didn't start. You know, we didn't start this yesterday. And so that's my advice to people.
Leslie
Is I would say start with, you know what the best exercise is? Push ups. You start on your knees, you do five, you add the next day, you.
Kathy
Add a couple more or against the kitchen counter. It doesn't.
Leslie
My bureau.
Susan
I did the 50 challenge. 50 squats, 50 pushups. Yeah.
Leslie
Yes.
Susan
It's not.
Leslie
And sometimes When I turned 50, I did 50 in a row on my toes. Then only once. And that was. That was a long time ago.
Susan
But only once.
Leslie
I'm doing it.
Kathy
And then you And I did 100 in Paradise.
Leslie
Oh, I. I do 100. But I did was 20 at a time. Yeah, well, that's what I'm saying.
Susan
You can't do it all at once. If you can only do 10, and then an hour later do 10, 10 or 15 more.
Leslie
You should have seen me in the hotel room. I probably 200.
Kathy
You and the.
Leslie
Every. Every five minutes. Okay. I might as well do another.
Kathy
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Susan
That's healthy. That's healthy.
Leslie
All right.
Kathy
Well, we. Your advice is great. I mean, everyone knows Leslie is synonymous with dance and fitness, so we appreciate your advice on that.

We've got to ask you some questions Leslie.
Leslie
Okay. Sorry, my dog is bothering me right now. Okay, go ahead.
Susan
We're going to let you ask us anything you want.
Leslie
Oh, I get to.
Susan
Instead of us quizzing you, you get to. The floor is yours.
Kathy
Be careful. I have your Number.
Leslie
Be careful.
Kathy
I have your number.
Leslie
I know. Do I ask you separately things?
Kathy
Whatever you like.
Leslie
Okay. Susan, tell me about your boyfriend.
Susan
So are you in love? Yes. Kathy and I were on vacation and I had an espresso.
Leslie
I know how you met him. Yep. Yes.
Susan
And communication was difficult in the beginning, but he's a charming gentleman.
Leslie
Are you learning French?
Susan
So I've taken every course. I'm starting to be able to read it and understand it. But when I speak, I sound like I have a Spanish accent.
Kathy
She sounds like she's from bronze.
Susan
Or I could do. That is funny. I could say, but that is funny. I'm not good at it at all. He however, has a heavy accent when he speaks his English words. And we could crack up because he'll repeat the same word 12 times. And he gets louder. And I go, I don't know what you're saying. And then finally it'll dawn on me, Kathy, remember Fort Knox? And I find I go, fort Knox. I say this, I go, no, you didn't say.
Leslie
You thought you were saying things like that. But when it's reading. My ex husband is French, but he does. I mean he speaks English, but he does have a heavy accent in it. Yes.
Susan
If it's really, really important, he'll say this is important. And we both run and we get the translator so that we can speak freely.
Kathy
Wait, Leslie, did you speak French?
Leslie
No. I mean I took French in school, but I mean I understand it way better than I can speak it.
Susan
You do?
Leslie
See, I don't understand. And he speaks French to my grandson. And so my grandson, my daughter in law is Mexican, so she speaks Spanish to him. And then David speaks French to him. And then Eli speaks. He's teaching him Hebrew, so he's got.
Susan
He's good.
Leslie
Four languages.
Susan
That's how it should be.
Leslie
I know, I know. I wish they would have done that for me. But there. Okay, Susan, I don't know if you know this. That new iPods, AirPods that have a translator built in.
Susan
I have them. I have them. We have glasses, we have the ear. But you always need this.
Leslie
Always.
Susan
You have to have. And that's annoying. And he says, darling, how are we going to learn? And I get you right.
Kathy
Wait, can I just tell you, Susan, I don't know if I've told you the story, but Liz, you'll get a crack out of it. I noticed, Liz, you had no questions for me. We'll take that up later.
Leslie
I do have a question for you.
Susan
Curious about.
Kathy
What is a code for.
Leslie
Text what am I supposed to do? I asked Susan. Now I'm going to take. I was going to ask you, do you miss paradise as much as I do?
Kathy
Yes, I do. I. You. When you said earlier in this podcast that, you know, you enjoyed paradise, but. But it was different. Oh, comparing paradise to golden. For me, I know. I loved paradise. I loved being like you said, having these young adults that actually cared what you and I thought and wanted to be around us and, And. And spending time with you and. Yeah, I like when I came home, it was rough.
Leslie
When I came home from. From Golden Bachelor, I missed you guys. I just didn't miss. Yeah.
Susan
When you went through something we didn't.
Leslie
Yeah, that's true. I was dead.
Susan
Always.
Leslie
This I miss. This I miss. I do miss the Youngins, you know, I just. I love them so much. But that was my question.
Kathy
Yes, I do. Okay, but I just have to tell you a very funny story. I haven't met this guy yet, but I'm probably gonna meet him. But he called me on the phone to chat with him and very funny, very nice guy. Haven't met him yet. No. No phone calls in, no emails. I don't know anything very little about him. But the reason he wanted to call and talk to me first was he was on a dating site and he drove an hour and a half to meet this woman, and they sat down for dinner, and he said, she was very pretty on the dating app. And he said, we sat down and she had three words of English. And I burst out laughing. I said, well, hell, I'm ahead of the race here. I have way more than three words. And he started laughing and I said, I have to ask you because you know me a million questions. How did that go? He said, we spent a lot of time staring at our phones, translating, and I thought to myself, oh, my God. And he said, but I learned a very important lesson. I said, what did you learn? He said, at least have a short phone conversation with the person before you invite them out for dinner. Can you imagine?
Leslie
I have to hear the person's voice. You would want to check.
Susan
Share that with someone, wouldn't you?
Leslie
By the way, I don't speak all that way. I'd have to hear the voice. The voice is important to me. The way they talk, if they have good grammar.
Kathy
Well, you heard what happened to me when I corrected Brian's grammar, so I'm out of that game.
Susan
Well, Fred, our first date, he said, I hope you speak French better than my English. Do you have ear pods and do you like to dance? And the earpods. As soon as we met, he took my phone, he downloaded the app. Kathy did a little bit of French. She stayed one drink and left. And then for three hours, I was looking at a phone, and at one point I said, you know, where I come from, when I go on a date or meet somebody, I usually make eye contact, and I can't even tell you what color your eyes are. And we start cracking up.
Kathy
But wait, Leslie, I want to know. Have you ever met a guy where. Like, I've talked to guys on the phone and I'm in love with their voice, and then I meet them. Like, where is this for? Where's the closest exit?
Leslie
Well, that happened to me, but it was even worse. I spent two hours on a zoom.
Susan
With them, and you couldn't. Wait, what was different?
Kathy
Wait a second. Oh, wait, you're in now, Leslie.
Susan
I know.
Leslie
Okay, so this. So my friend worked for this talk if I. It's called talkify. They match you up. And she. She was. And she knew I was going to New York for something. This was a year ago or so, maybe. Yeah, a year ago. And so she said, I have a guy. He's Jewish. He. Blah, blah. He said, okay. All right. So I spent two hours on a zoom with them, and he was really nice and cute, and we had so much.
Susan
You were looking forward to it, right?
Leslie
Yes. And we just met for coffee again, I happened to be in New York. I didn't go to New York to meet him, but he met. But it was as soon as we met in person. Done.
Susan
None.
Leslie
It was.
Susan
Why? What do you think it was done.
Kathy
For you or for him or both?
Leslie
I don't know. For him, it was. For me, the vibe wasn't there. He. He had a little bit of a.
Kathy
A little bit of a what?
Susan
Cross eye. I'd be staring at it. I'm such an ass.
Leslie
But on the zoom, he was looking at scream. But not like this way, but kind of like this way. So I couldn't see. I did not. I don't know. I'm sorry. He was so nice. I'm sorry. That's not nice. But I'm just saying, I think you just. When you meet somebody in person, it's just a completely different thing. I don't know.
Susan
I thought you would have helped, though. I really did.
Leslie
Me too.
Kathy
I don't know. I've never zoomed with a guy and then met him, but I. I have talked to so many guys on the phone that have the best voice, and then I meet them and I'm like, I'm so out. I'm so. Because it doesn't take me long. Like, how long does it take you, Leslie, when you meet a guy to know if you're interested?
Leslie
I'd say 15 seconds, three to five.
Kathy
You're saying 15 is giving.
Leslie
That's a lot. I know.
Kathy
I don't know. So here's the thing with me now, and I say this earlier, but, Leslie, beyond. Of course, you're younger than I am, but I. In my mind, I have this image of the man, the look that I would like, but I'm trying to get over that.
Leslie
I do.
Kathy
I'm trying to just be open to whatever they bring.
Susan
And should that be settling, Kathy?
Kathy
No, actually, I'll tell you why. Because I'm changing what I want.
Leslie
If I feel that I feel that way.
Kathy
Yes.
Leslie
I feel like after the show, and me. And me being very invested in Gary, our Gary, I feel like, you know, that's not the typical person that I would normally go.
Susan
Right.
Leslie
And I actually like the fact that.
Susan
I was open to something different.
Leslie
Exactly. So I was like, oh, okay, I'm growing up.
Susan
You know, I mean, being a big girl.
Leslie
Yeah, exactly. I'm like, okay, this is. Is good. You know, this is what I'm supposed to do. I'm supposed to be open. My daughter's last words to me, be open, mom, don't. You know.
Susan
Yes.
Leslie
So I was. And then, you know, so. And so that was good.
Kathy
I'm glad that you gave it the old college. Right. To be clear, Leslie, you gave the old college try. I thought very appropriately, with Gary, you know, you went to see if there was something there. You came, you saw, you didn't. You know, it was what it was. But I'm saying it. When we. When I was younger, I would meet a guy, he didn't have to open his mouth. I would just look at him. And if I wasn't thinking he was attractive.
Susan
Yeah.
Kathy
And now that's not settling, Susan, to answer your question, because I'm now realizing that, look, I don't look great compared to what I look like when I was 30 either.
Leslie
Well, I mean, we're getting older, right?
Kathy
And so now I want to give men a chance to see what their personality is like. Are we compatible? You know, those things, to me, are becoming more important. Like, we. We had talked to April. We had her on a podcast, and she was talking about, you know, the look that she likes. And. And, you know, April, that's. That's her world. But I sat there listening to her thinking, I have. I guess I really am changing because, you know, if I.
Susan
It's like a body type too and forever. They had to be built and I don't care a few extra pounds. I don't care about that. It's who you are and how I feel when I'm with you.
Leslie
You know, I want someone that has. That takes care of himself, because I do. So I want someone that does that as well.
Kathy
Right. But the point is, Leslie, you don't care. Or maybe I'm putting words in your mouth. You don't seem that you care if the guy is Adonis fitness level. Just a guy who goes to the gym, rides a bike, takes care of himself, takes care of. May not be as thin as ever.
Leslie
I mean, they don't have to do all the things that I do. I mean, you know, if they ski and snowboard, that's bonus. But if they don't, that's fine. If, you know, you know, I. I'm fine with that. I just want someone that takes care of themselves. That's all, you know.
Kathy
Oh, gosh.
Susan
Well, I hate to burst this bubble, but you know what time it is.
Kathy
It's time for you to go out and find a guy for Kathy and Leslie.
Susan
