Breakdowns and breakups are inevitable. You know, it's the same with appliances and home systems. Breakdowns are going to happen and those breakdowns can be costly. However, you can help protect your budget with an American Home Shield home warranty. AHS offers plans that cover parts of the kitchen and laundry, appliances, H Vac, plumbing and electrical systems that will inevitably break down.

Welcome back to Bachelor Happy Hour, everyone. And today with us we have our 30 year old Matthew, mechanical engineer from Nashville. Everyone, welcome. Casey. Hi, Casey. Oh, now we can't hear you.
Casey Hux
Hey, how y' all doing? I. I brought something with me today. My three microphone wasn't working at first, so I had to get it working. My bad.
Charity
Incredible. Wait, you made that?
Casey Hux
I did. I did very late last night. Got this thing all done and made it in spins and everything like that. So this is probably like the fanciest thing I've ever made.
Charity
I know. He's like no big deal last night.
Casey Hux
Yeah, I know, right? I got done just in time. I was very excited when I like woke up this morning and it was ready. It took 19 hours.
Charity
Oh.
Casey Hux
So it's not like I'm there the whole time. You know, you just sit here going like for a little bit. So you guys sleep in headphones. But other than that, like it's, it's very Easy work. You just hit a button, and it does all the work.
Kathy
Wow.
Charity
Oh, my gosh. I'm. I'm very curious about your job, and we'll get into that, but obviously. Welcome to back to the happy hour. I want to get into really just how you're feeling. We're so happy to have you here, and honestly, just to get to know you a little bit better. But I do know and understand that, you know, the past week has probably been very up and down and all over the place for you guys. So how are you?
Casey Hux
Definitely. Definitely. And I have to say before I say that this is my first ever podcast, so thank you guys so much for having me. This is such a cool experience. I couldn't think of a better place to start.
Charity
Oh, I love that.
Casey Hux
Yeah. Awesome.
Kathy
It's easy.
Casey Hux
Yeah. I mean. I mean, I have the two best hosts here, so it's. It should be very easy. It's. I don't. I don't really know how to feel about a lot of things. I mean, we've been playing a waiting game for a while, as I'm sure y' all remember. Like, the. It's. It's been a few months since things have wrapped, and we've been waiting for a few months for the premiere. And, gosh, we were waiting for the announcement. We were waiting for the premiere. I know after the premiere came out, we'd be waiting for episode two. So, like, I'm used to this waiting game. What I'm not used to is not knowing what comes next.
Kathy
Yeah.
Casey Hux
And as. As a planner, like, I think if I focused on that too much, I'd. I'd drive myself crazy a little bit. So I've tried to take a backseat approach to everything and just know that, like, the people that are. That are looking into things are looking into things, and there's a lot more that has to happen. And I. I can be patient. Like, I mean, I. Looking on the bright side of things, the. The. My experience on the Bachelorette was, like, the most transformative internal experience that I've ever had in my entire life, and it's crazy that it happened in such a short amount of time. So, like, I'll have that with me, and I can take that with me, and I have been able to take that with me, like, wherever I've gone. And that's. That's incredible. I think the thing. Obviously, I'm disappointed in that. I think the thing that I'm disappointed about the most is like. Like, we had this watch party plane, and I had Like, a lot of people come. I had 60 people signed up, and it was friends, family. It was all these people that have just, like, seen this journey that I've been on for the last couple years. And it was going to be really cool to share, like, that internal journey that I took, like, on. On, like, on TV with cameras, like, in a wild way, doing the coolest things that I've ever done in my entire life. And I was really excited to share that with him because, like, it was my family and friends that got me to where I'm at, and, like, I just think they've. They've seen me at low points and it would be really cool to show them, like, how. How high, like, me and everybody else got, like, yeah, through this experience.
Kathy
How did you come to the Bachelor case?
Casey Hux
It's a long one. Do we have. Do we have a minute? Do you mind?
Charity
Oh, we have time. This is all for you. This is all for you.
Casey Hux
Beautiful. So I'm a bit of a rambler with this, but it's also like a two year journey. Actually could be like more of like a seven year journey, but, like, I base my life around relationships. Like, I don't think I've ever had, like, any sort of work dream or just like, personal dream. To me, that's more important than, like, finding my person. So I met a girl in Nashville, and, like, the second I met her, I, like, knew I was going to spend the rest of my life with her. And I had never felt that way before. And to make a long story short, we dated for five years, lived together for three, and things were good at the beginning, and then as time went on, like, she had past experiences that she wasn't able to sort of get over, and a lot of her trying to get over them was kind of taking them out on me. So we had to thank you. We broke up a few times, and then there was finally, like, a really bad event that happened. And we both kind of know that, like, things, like, this was different and things were. Were ending. And it was, you know, I was strong for, like, two months. And. And I say all this, like, kind of understanding, like, everything that Taylor's going through. Like, I was strong for a couple months, but, like, and I knew it wasn't right to get with her, and I knew all my friends and family told me not to go back, but, like, I loved her, and she told me that I was her person, and I never heard that before. And, you know, part of me thought, like, I. Like, I. I think the. The way that I'm crazy is like, I believe that people can change. And for sure, you know, I don't know if. If I've been shown that before and I was stupid and I tried to reach back out to her and explain how I felt, and by that time, she'd already moved on. And it absolutely broke me when this girl that I loved and knew me for five years and better than anyone else in the entire world chose a stranger over me. And like, this is the lowest point of my life. Like, I remember being at a football game and like, like crying to my little sister about like, oh, like, you know, like, yeah, you feel like you're nothing. So, yeah, I, I'm not gonna. Like, I feel like the normal thing that like, would happen in Nashville and country music is like, you go hit the bar and just drink whiskey. And so until I forget everything, it was like a big country music fan. It's like, you know, that that's the first thing felt across my mind. But like, you know, after a day or two thinking about it, it's like, no, like, I'm gonna be the best version of me that I can be and I am going to do everything. You know, like, maybe it was a little unhealthy because like, I saw myself as, like, definitely had some self esteem issues and didn't see myself as someone that was like, worthy of being a boyfriend for someone. And so I went out and tried to do everything I could to make myself the best version of myself. Yeah, like, tried joined a new gym, started working out every day. Like, tried to put myself in new social situations that would make me uncomfortable at first. Like, my favorite is like, I learned how to two step, which is like the funnest thing that I've learned how to do. You know, like, became a big brother and like, I mentor like a 12 year old kid who was just like the coolest kid ever. And like, because I, I'm 30 or 29 at the time and like, I, I should know how to be a parent and like, try to do all these things to make me a better person. And got a lot of validation from family and friends at the time, but it's like, they're biased. They know me. What is a way that like, I can know for myself if like, I'm truly like a good enough guy and a good enough boyfriend and can make like, when I find my person, if I can really make her happy this time. And like, for whatever reason, my mind was like the Bachelor and like, I had watched it with like My middle school girlfriend. I've probably seen two episodes before I went off. I watched it. But like, I remember these guys that were just like, like had their lives together, were in great shape, were, were funny, were attractive, like, had everything going for themselves. Like we're literally the most like eligible bachelors in, in like the country. And I was like, that would be a good litmus test if like I'm, I'm good enough and like I want my, like I, I think my last relationship was very much like a movie esque meeting. Like, I want to go bold when I meet my person. Like I, I want to have a story that like you could make a movie out of.
Charity
Exactly.
Casey Hux
This is everything. This would be perfect.
Kathy
And why not? You tried. You know, I said the same thing going on Golden Bachelor. You've done the dating sides, you've had the girlfriend. It didn't work out. What. Why not try national tv?
Charity
Take a risk.
Casey Hux
And like I knew the reputation that the show had where it's like, yeah, like I've met a lot of amazing people in Nashville. And like, I feel like a fair question to me is like, why wouldn't you just date in Nashville? Like it's a very popular dating scene there. It's like that is true. I feel like I've met a lot of people that have one or the other where they're like, I really like them as, as people and they're very physically attractive. But then like they are still figuring out a lot in their life. And I knew like on this show, like it has reputation of like there are people that have it all. There are people that have figured out who they want to be in life and are ready for marriage. And like I, I've been ring shopping. Like I'm mentally prepared for a marriage in kids. Like I understand this and it's like it's the perfect time. I just need to find the perfect girl sort of thing.
Charity
Yeah.
Casey Hux
So I applied. Like, I feel like I may be the one person that applied, but like
Charity
we never hear the I. I applied,
Casey Hux
but I love that.
Kathy
I did too. I did too.
Casey Hux
How about that application? Oh my gosh, that was a lot. I don't know if the guys that like were reached out to had to do this application, but like, oh my. Kathy, was that the longest application?
Kathy
It was, it was. Yeah, it was. I thought they know me better than my kids know me at this point.
Casey Hux
Exactly. I, I know and I was so scared. Like it was one of those ones where like if you close out of the web page like, it doesn't save it. I was so scared that I was gonna just, like, my computer was gonna reset when I was gone, and then just, like, weeks of work and typing up these novels about my emotional trauma for these paragraph essays. Like, wouldn't have been in there. But, yeah, I did. And was. It was so cool when I got accepted. It was such, like, a whirlwind because I got accepted, like, the Wednesday before we flew out, and, like, yeah, yeah, yeah, maybe I was the last dude. But, like, it's funny. I will. I will always remember Charity, you giving me some love for having a real job on your first podcast. But, like, yeah, I. I told my boss on Friday that I was leaving for an undisclosed amount of time on Monday.
Charity
That's crazy. So how was your obviously segueing from, like, how you got on the show and then, I'm sure, like, preparing for this journey, you probably also were still, like, navigating your feelings, because it is hard to pinpoint. Like, okay, you're going into this insane experience. It can either work or it cannot work. But, like, did your brain start to, like, prepare fears for you? How did you navigate that? Like, how did you work through that? And honestly, how was it like, I guess, when you, you know, got in the limo and meeting all the guys for the first time? Like, what were you feeling?
Casey Hux
What a good memory. So when I got the call on Wednesday, happiness, excitement, like, this is a dream. And then. So my twin flew down from New York and. Yes, yes, exactly. He's. He's in Greenwich if you're. If you're ever in the area.
Charity
Okay.
Casey Hux
So he flew down, and he is, like, the one of us that actually has a sense of style. So he took me out around and, like, helped me buy suits, and, like, we went to the boot barn. Spent way too much money to show off, you know, the Nashville personality a little bit.
Kathy
You know, there's a. A lot of Bachelor people who live in Nashville. Are you friends with any of them?
Casey Hux
I think so. I. I think I'd consider myself friends with them, but it's still new. I feel like I'm in limbo on if I'm a part of Bachelor Nation.
Kathy
Oh, you definitely are. Oh, you are?
Casey Hux
Are y' all bringing me in? Okay. Okay.
Charity
You are officially beneficial. Yes.
Casey Hux
Beautiful. So I've hung out with Jason Tardick, who's super cool. I have talked to Christina Mandrell and Braden Bowers.
Podcast Host 1
Okay.
Casey Hux
Yeah. Who know. I know it was on your season.
Charity
Yeah, yeah.
Casey Hux
And just heard, like, super cool things about, like, all of them. When I got back, I was like, I. I know Bachelor Nation is, like, super close, and everybody seems to be friends, so it's like, who. Who are some people that live here? Let's just, like, ask them.
Charity
Yeah.
Casey Hux
Whatnot. And then I know they said, Hannah Brown lives here, too. And I was like, it's always weird, just, like, reaching out to these people where you're just, like, kind of, like, sliding into these, like, women's dms.
Kathy
I really am.
Grainger Sponsor Voice
Yeah.
Casey Hux
I'm like, I'm not trying to do anything. I just heard y' all were super cool, and, like, you never have enough friends in Nashville, and I would love to talk to people that have gone through this before. Yeah. And I was like, you know, so I started following people. I was like, so Hannah Brown was, like, redoing her house. It's like, I'll come to manual labor if you just, like. Like, if you want to just.
Charity
Man is built by a woman. I. You were like, everything.
Casey Hux
I'm so ceiling fan. If you just, like, tell me how I should be navigating this new world that I'm in. But it's like, that just seems such of, like, a weird DM to send people.
Charity
Yeah.
Casey Hux
And these people are all, like, super famous, and I feel like it's just gonna, like, I'm overwhelmed by, like, the amount of new followers I have, and it's, like, 0.01% of what they deal with. So I don't know how that would happen, but, like, yeah, it seems like there is an awesome community here, and Christina and Braden were going to come to the watch party that I was going to have last Sunday, and I made them.
Kathy
Hey, Casey, can I just say, don't put it in the past. You know, the. The show is not canceled. It is on a pause. There may well come the day where you say, everybody, come on over. Giddy up and come on over, because we're having our watch party, our premiere party.
Casey Hux
Oh, yeah. So.
Charity
And we're getting to meet you. That's what this is for, too. So we're like, you were. This is all a part of it.
Casey Hux
Oh, I'm. I'm still very optimistic. I am always, like, the most optimistic to. To a. To a flaw. But I, like, my kind of shtick is, like, I always like to make people, like, personalized, like, 3D printed things. So I have, like, this personalized. Like, they're right next to me right here, but, like, these little gifts for Christina and Braden that they were coming because, like,
Charity
like, you were literally Like, I'm like, why are you so nice?
Casey Hux
Yeah, you. I mean, I don't want to spoil it, but maybe Braden wouldn't watch. But since you were, you know, got to know him very well. The little rose earrings that say 20 on them.
Charity
Oh, my God. Is it crazy? I'm like, I want to parent.
Casey Hux
Yeah. Yes. Yes, I can. I can. I can very easily do that. Well, I made you guys something too, so this is probably perfect. But I made two of these for.
Charity
I'm putting it on my desk.
Casey Hux
The first podcast. Yeah. Right. That's what I was hoping. They can just sit up here.
Kathy
That is so.
Charity
I actually will start crying. Like, that is so sweet. Like, I. Thank you.
Casey Hux
Of course. Yeah. I always feel weird. Like, the other weird thing that I have to do is be like, yo, what's your address? And it's like, I will give you my address.
Kathy
I am guest hosting on this because Rachel is out of town at a family funeral. But I'm telling you, I'm coming. I'm gonna have you come on. I'm gonna talk to the producers, have you on golden hour, and Then you can 3D print me one of those.
Casey Hux
Bingo. Yeah. I mean, you guys are. You guys are my first podcast, so I was. I was figuring both of you.
Charity
I'll get one of these. Wow, that is so sweet. Thank you so much.
Casey Hux
Truly, I enjoy this. Like, there's nothing better than getting, like, a one of one gift. And, yeah, it feels so. I. I do that. And, like, now's a good time to just be kind of like a hermit. So me and my 3D printers have been hanging out a. Yeah.

Charity
Okay, I want to, like, get into a little bit of, like, the season without giving too much. Like, obviously we talked a little bit about, like, how close you, you know, the guys and, you know, that dynamic was. There's been some articles about Taylor specifically storming off on one of the, the dates and obviously we can't really go into super details, but maybe you can confirm, deny, tease a little bit. Like, what was. What was that like?
Casey Hux
Yeah, I'll deny and tease a little bit. Okay, so I don't know where that came from. We were hanging out at an undisclosed place at an undisclosed time, and she brought up what happened and went into it in very intensive detail. So just, just like with, with the incident with her kid. And so when, when that video came out, like, she had already very fully described it to me. Like, I had a mental image of, of that same scene. So it's not something she shied away from. And like, the whole entire time on the show, she is like. Because she was asking us these same questions. She's like, like she would ask the tough questions and needed to know these. And like, as someone that's here with intentionality and someone that's like, I'm making a lifetime decision, like, you should know these things and should ask these questions. So she was the one that Brought it up originally, and when she did like, it, it took me a little while to process it, so she brought that up, and we were having a really good night at that time, and it just wasn't the time or the place, and I didn't really know how I was feeling. I brought it up the next time, and she was super cool, calm, and collected about it. There was no storming off. There was no, like, there was no anger.
Charity
Yeah.
Casey Hux
There was sadness. And it's like, the only thing that I could imagine is, like, being worse than, like, the person on the receiving end of that is, like, the person that knows they did that and has to live with that for the rest of their lives.
Sponsor Voice 2
Right.
Casey Hux
Like, if it was me, I would be beating myself up over that every day, and it would make it so hard, like, not to go back to that and not to lose control again because you're just, like, on edge all the time. But I brought it up and explained, like, hey, like, this is why I end my relationship. Like, this is. This is kind of a sore subject for me. This is probably something that, like, is, like, I don't know, it's close to me. And she was like, yeah, it was the worst day of my life, and I did something about it. Like, I gave up drinking after that. And it's like, to me, that that was enough. Like, I didn't need some. Some long, like, sob story about what happened. It was like she took an actionable change about what happened and showed intention and, like, has followed through on that and was accountable for it. Like, yeah, that meant the world. I. I thought it was a really powerful moment between us two, and I'm really glad we have the opportunity to just like, sit down one on one and. And talk about it like that, because, you know, like, if it was me, like, reading a news article and coming up with my own opinions on what happened with limited information and, like, not being able to talk to her, like, in a vulnerable state, like, who knows what I would have thought.
Kathy
Yeah.
Casey Hux
And. And I think that was one of the good things about, like, kind of coming into this experience kind of blind was like, I did as little research as I could on. On anything because I felt like it would be disingenuous for me to do, like, all my homework on Taylor.
Charity
Yeah. Yeah.
Casey Hux
That's not how you meet someone in the wild. Like, I don't walk up and, like, find some girl at the grocery store and list off 10 facts about her and her most, like, traumatizing experience in life with that being Said, like, I do think that there is a place to do, like, a little bit of, like, background research on people just to know, like, where you all relate.
Charity
Right.
Casey Hux
So especially with, like, such limited time that we have in this world, like, in, like, in the bastard world. I'm not having some existential crisis here.
Kathy
I just love that I'm hearing you've obviously had tremendous heartbreak in your life, and yet you, through all these experiences, it doesn't matter what the age is, your age, my age, you have been able to turn these. Some of these negative experiences and celebrate your life and be so excited about the next chapter of your life. And I love hearing it because that is something that doesn't matter what your age is. If you have the right attitude and you take advantage of great opportunities to come your way, great things come into your life, and you are a walking card carrying a testimony.
Casey Hux
Truly.
Charity
Yes. No, it. It's so admirable. Like, I'm. I mean, I don't know if I'm allowed to say it, but I have my own opinion, so my opinions do matter. I'm like, I don't know how the season unfolds, but I'm like, if it's not you and Taylor at the end, I'm like, he's my candidate. He's my candidate for next Bachelor. I'm like, he's perfect. No, like, you really are. Like, it's just like, you're so emotionally, like, aware. You're intelligent. I mean, your job, your career, and it's like, all those things. But it's also. I'm like, just intentionality. I think it's so important when you're coming again with love. Like, love is so vulnerable, and it's a vulnerable experience. But I'm like, people who are intentional about that. It's, you know, it's very rare that you miss the mark. Like, not saying, like, the people that come into our lives, like, obviously it's a trial and error there, but, like, when your intentions are pure and your intentions are, like, you know what it is that you want, like, it inevitably works out. And I'm just. I'm like, now your biggest fan. I really am.
Kathy
It radiates from you. I mean. Yeah, it just. It just. It's so apparent that that's who you are. Only good things are going to come your way, you know? Yeah, I said firm. Believe the other end of. The other end of the spectrum here. But great things are coming for you. You just get a little more patient.
Charity
Yeah.
Casey Hux
Yeah. I mean, if you learn anything from this experience is patience. And, yeah, good things have come to me. Look at the podcast that I'm on right now.
Charity
Come on now.
Casey Hux
This is getting better than this.
Charity
I love this man. He's perfect.
Casey Hux
But I. I will say with all that, like, I think that that's my probably biggest disappointment with, like, this stuff not airing is like, I think there's a million dudes out there that are probably going through the same thing. They're going through. They say the. The quote I've heard, which I don't think is true, but it's kind of true. It's like everybody's either in a relationship or getting over one. I think there's a lot of people out there, a lot of guys out there. I know there were other guys on the show that were experiencing, like, some of the lowest points of their life because of their last relationships. And it's cool. Like, there's so many stories that happened over the season that are so triumphant of people coming in, like, looking for something more than just a wife that they find through, like, the most ridiculous group dates or most ridiculous settings. You see the story of growth, and it's like, I. I would have never expected that. Like, I would have found so many just, like, life fulfilling experiences where you're challenged and learn to overcome than, like, like on this. On the show, on reality TV. Well, you do. And, like, 21 other guys did the same thing, and it's just like, incredible to see the growth. Yeah, that happened.
Kathy
Terry, this guy is so perfect. I mean, listen, I could be your mother, and I am telling you, I have rarely met a guy other than maybe my son in law. I mean, you are an amazing God.
Charity
Yes. Spectacular. So please, like, never forget.
Casey Hux
Thank you, guys.
Charity
Yeah.
Casey Hux
Yeah. I thought you guys were supposed to be a lot more intense and grilling me on these podcasts. Nothing but nice.
Charity
I'm like, who told you that? Tell me afterwards. But before we leave, is there anything that you want to share with Bachelor Nation? Whether that's words of wisdom, anything that's like, up and coming, that's special for you, like a project that you just want us to know about? And where can we keep up with you on social media?
Casey Hux
Ooh, let's see. I mean, I. I guess it's just. I mean, I. I feel like everybody else will wait and see what happens. Like, yeah, I. I want everybody to know that, like, there was an incredible internal journey from. From all the guys there. Like, if, if for whatever reason this doesn't see the light of day, like, we're different people now because when we went on there. Exactly. And I, I think the thing that, that maybe missed the most is like, I don't know how many guys watch this show. I know there's a couple hundred manufacturing dudes are going to be watching it
Charity
for the first time.
Casey Hux
But like, I think the journeys that a lot of us were, were able to go on, like, I, I think if I was watching the show and it like a year ago and I was able to see someone in my shoes go through this experience, like, it would have been inspiring and I needed to see that. Like a year ago, I had no idea what I was doing. I didn't know if I was doing the right thing at all. And it's weird to say, like, I don't know. If you feel down on your luck, then maybe just like try to go on a reality TV dating show and you may find like what you're looking for. I, I don't know. It's, it's really cool to be someone that is just like, that feels so normal to just have like the most amazing experience of a lifetime and then go through like an even more amazing experience. So there, there's, there's my word to all the fellows out there to that may be going through the same thing,
Kathy
but you are a special guy. You are.
Casey Hux
Thank you. Thank you. Other than that, all I'm working on is I'm 3D printing things. I'm still, I can give you, I can give you a preview of one other thing that I'm making, but I don't know if you saw in the trailer. There are a lot of cowboys out there, so making everybody season 22 belt buckle. So for the tell all, I don't know if anyone will want to wear them, but the boys are going to be looking good for that.
Charity
Oh my God. Wait.
Casey Hux
It was so funny. Like.
Kathy
Yeah, well, you, you got to come to Austin and you can give me a two step lesson.
Casey Hux
Yes, I would love to. I would love to.
Charity
That's actually lovely.
Casey Hux
Yeah.
Charity
A lovely date.
Casey Hux
Exactly. I've learned a lot about the differences between Texas two step and Tennessee, so I'll choose Texas for you.
Kathy
Okay. Well, I appreciate it. I have two left feet. Fair warning,
Casey Hux
I'm not the best either. I still, I'm still a mechanical engineer at heart. I'm not amazing.
Charity
Oh, and don't forget, what are your socials? We, we need to have this so we can keep up.
Casey Hux
I have an Instagram and I created Tick Tock about a month ago. So amazing.
Charity
Right? On track.
Casey Hux
Yeah. Right. I'm what the Hux on Instagram.
Charity
Okay.
Casey Hux
And I think I'm just Casey Hux on Tick Tock.
Charity
Perfect. Okay. We are so happy to have spent today talking and getting to just know a little bit more about you. So thank you again, Casey Charity Kathy.
Casey Hux
Thank you guys so much. This was incredible.

I just received my order from Dietz and Watson. I am so excited. I got chicken sausages and flavored cheddar cheeses. You know I'm from New England and I know a genuine New York State cheddar when I see it. They are infused with real ingredients, iconic flavors and a smooth, creamy finish. I think my favorite one was the champagne cheddar. It just is delicious. And the chicken sausage, they never have antibiotics, no nitrates are added, they're gluten free and they have bold, authentic recipes. Dietz and Watson has been handcrafting premium meats and artisan cheeses for over 85 years. They're family owned and operated and they've never cut corners. Ever. They're transparent about what goes into their food and what doesn't and they know good taste doesn't need a long list of ingredients. Dietz Watson is simply made. It's as simple as that. charity I'm so excited to introduce today's 30 year old baseball player from Massapequa, New York. Johnny. How are you?
Johnny LaRosa
Good. How are you guys?
Charity
Great. I'm doing good. We're happy to have you.
Johnny LaRosa
We are to be on. I'm so glad. I'm happy.
Kathy
I know. Yeah. Really. How have you been these last few weeks, Johnny? How are things going?
Johnny LaRosa
Things have been crazy, but, you know, I've been playing baseball, so keeping my mind off things, just having fun, but I'm just excited to, to be on this right now.
Charity
Are you coming from baseball? Are you headed to baseball?
Johnny LaRosa
I'm. I'm heading to baseball. I might be missing some things right now, but they said it was fine.
Kathy
I want to hear about your experience as a professional baseball player.
Johnny LaRosa
Oh, I mean, I'm doing something a little bit different right now. It's cosmic baseball, which is Glow in the Dark baseball, which is like, similar to the Savannah Bananas, but better. We. We play. We play Glow in the Dark, which is. We played in our first weekend last week in Jacksonville, Florida, and now we're in Birmingham, Alabama. And I'm not going to lie, last weekend was the most fun I had playing baseball since I was like 8 years old. So much fun.
Charity
Wait, how does that work? Is it like night? Like, no lights? Like. I'm confused. Tell me more.
Johnny LaRosa
So crazy.
Casey Hux
We.
Johnny LaRosa
So there's. There's black lights. They put them up all over the stadium. And then our jerseys grow, the baseballs glow, the bases glow, and the stadiums are packed with like. They're packed.
Charity
That's so cool.
Nature's Sunshine Sponsor Voice
Yeah.
Johnny LaRosa
Oh, my gosh.
Charity
How fun.
Johnny LaRosa
So much.
Kathy
You got to come to Austin. We don't have a professional baseball team there, so. You need to bring this to Austin. It'd be very cool.
Johnny LaRosa
I think. I think we actually go to Frisco. I don't know if that's close to Austin.
Casey Hux
Not really.
Kathy
That's Dallas, but, you know, it's Texas.
Johnny LaRosa
There might be another place in Texas. Oh, we go to Sugar Land.
Kathy
Oh, that's Houston.
Johnny LaRosa
Okay.
Casey Hux
I. I don't know.
Johnny LaRosa
I'm not familiar with Texas.
Charity
Okay. I am so curious to talk about how you got on the show. That's always my first question when I'm meeting new people and then bachelor family. So tell us how you got on the show.
Johnny LaRosa
So I'm not too sure, but I think I applied. I think I. I think I applied a while ago, and then someone reached out to me through social media, and then I got a call. They're like, are you interested? And I didn't really know much about her, but I was like, yeah. I mean, she seems. She's beautiful, so.
Charity
Yeah.
Johnny LaRosa
Why not? Yeah.
Charity
Oh, my gosh. Wow. So crazy.
Johnny LaRosa
Yes, Very crazy.
Kathy
Wow.
Charity
Did you have, like, what was your biggest fear? I guess going into all of this?
Johnny LaRosa
I think my biggest fear. I had a lot of fears, maybe.
Charity
I know I was like, it's hard to narrow down.
Johnny LaRosa
I'm sure one was. So there's all the guys going after. I'm getting heartbroken was definitely top of my priority. The next one was all the guys being a holes, which none of them were. Then. I was very surprised when I got there. Every. All the guys were amazing. It was unbelievable. But, yeah, the number one was getting heartbroken because I did get broken up with earlier that year, and it was tough. I was going through a tough time.
Charity
But, yeah. Wow.
Kathy
How is it living with the guys compared to being on a, you know, pro baseball team? Like, traveling with the guys. Living with guys. How. How. What was that like?
Johnny LaRosa
I mean, it literally brought me back to memories. Like, just the camaraderie of all the guys was amazing, and it was just awesome. Like, it was probably one of the best times of my life, I'm not gonna lie. And I had so much fun with the guys, and I still have friendships with a lot of them, and I'm close with a lot of them. They're. They're just such cool guys, and they deserve everything and more.
Charity
Yeah. I always say that's, like, the best part, obviously. It's like, we're all. We go on this show seeking for love, or at least we should be seeking love. So if it doesn't work out, it's like the friendships and like, being able to still be so close with, you know, who you really, truly, I feel like, spend probably more time than you do with the lead. It's like, that's something that's so, you
Kathy
know, it's always the friendship away.
Charity
Yeah.
Kathy
Yeah.
Charity
The friendships taking that away.
Podcast Host 1
So I really.
Charity
I love that you guys are still very close, and it was a really good dynamic for you all.
Johnny LaRosa
Yeah, it was amazing. Best time alive.
Charity
Yeah. Love. Oh, my gosh.
Podcast Host 1
Okay.
Charity
So I'm curious to know again, we're gonna get, like, probably nitty gritty and whatever you don't feel comfortable sharing, you don't have to. But you mentioned, obviously, before you came on the show that you were going through a little bit of a breakup. So what really, was your dating history like? We'll start there. Had you have a lot of, you know, serious relationships or was it just a few? How was that?
Johnny LaRosa
So I've had three, I guess maybe two. Almost a high school relationship, but I've had two.
Podcast Host 1
Yeah.
Johnny LaRosa
Serious relationships after that, and the most previous one where I got dumped. I thought that was going to be it. Like, we're going to get married. But, yeah, I mean, it's. It takes a lot for me to get into a relationship, and it's hard for me to open up. And I think that's always been my problem because I really have a hard time trusting people, which is probably not a good thing. But I keep myself closed a lot. But I think that breakup was the best thing that ever happened to me. I didn't know at the time, but now, yeah, I'm a big believer in God, and ever since that day, I've been praying every day, and. And he really does have a plan, and I think that was part of the plan. And it's just, honestly, a blessing.
Charity
Yeah.
Kathy
How long were you single before going on the show? How long had that breakup been?
Johnny LaRosa
So that was. I broke it up on my birthday. February 24th.
Podcast Host 1
Oh, my God.
Charity
No, I'm so sorry.
Johnny LaRosa
Yeah. February 24th. And then.
Charity
Oh, my God, I'm so sorry. No, I hate that.
Johnny LaRosa
It was a whole long story, but not. Yeah. And then the show was end of October, so I guess six, seven months.
Charity
Yeah.
Kathy
Okay.
Johnny LaRosa
Yeah.
Charity
Were you. And it's okay. You don't have to say this. Like, I'm so nosy. I, like, I need to know everything. Were you dating around before? Were you just, like. I just need, like, just time to myself.
Johnny LaRosa
I know. I really wasn't dating around at all.
Casey Hux
Just.
Charity
Yeah.
Johnny LaRosa
Time to focus on me and. And Just be a better version of me because I was also done playing professional baseball at that time, and I was, like, transitioning into, I guess, the real world. And I was going on job interviews. I was just kind of lost. I was lost in life. So I was trying to really find myself. And just that whole year was. It was bad. I did try out for the Savannah Bananas. The whole year.
Charity
Yeah.
Johnny LaRosa
They didn't want me, so that was another emotional thing. That was their loss. Yeah. For real
Kathy
now you literally. Now, Johnny, you literally light up people's lives.
Johnny LaRosa
Yeah, that's. That's so nice. Yeah, you're right. You guys are making me blush over here.
Casey Hux
You guys are awesome.
Kathy
Wait, I've heard. Are you stubborn, Johnny?
Johnny LaRosa
I might be a little bit.
Charity
Who told you that? Kathy, I.
Kathy
You know, I do my research. I heard you're a little on the stubborn side.
Johnny LaRosa
I might be a little bit stubborn. I don't like. I honestly don't like being told what to do. And I. And I don't like being wrong, which is probably not good.
Kathy
I mean, I'm just gonna say I could be your mother here. That might be just a ditch of a problem when you're dating.
Charity
I was like that second one. You don't like being wrong. You will be wrong.
Johnny LaRosa
No, I know. I don't. I'll admit when I'm wrong. Like, yeah, a couple days after, but not in the moment.
Kathy
Repeat after me, Johnny. Darlene, I'm so sorry. You were right and I am wrong.
Johnny LaRosa
Yeah, darling, I'm so sorry. You were right and I was wrong.
Charity
Yeah.
Kathy
You'll be married within six months.
Charity
Exactly.
Johnny LaRosa
You fixed me. There we go.
Charity
Oh, my God. That's all a girl ever wants to hear. That's all it takes. Truly. I do want to ask. So when you found out that Taylor was going to be the Bachelorette, were you already, like, solidified in casting, or did you have, like, an opportunity to kind of decide? Like, I guess where I'm asking this question is her being a mom. Was that something that you were like, oh, I'm totally open to, or were you, like, a little hesitant about.
Johnny LaRosa
Definitely a little hesitant, but I was open to it because I feel like if it's the right person, then I think it would all work out in the end. So I was open to being possibly, I guess, a stepfather or father. Father figure to her children.
Charity
Have you dated? Well, yeah, I think you already answered that. Probably not anyone that was a mom before?
Johnny LaRosa
No, I never. I've never been in a relationship with anybody that had Kids.
Charity
Yeah.
Kathy
But you. I'm assuming you want children.
Johnny LaRosa
Yeah, I do. I do want a Johnny Jr. Really bad. Yes.
Kathy
How about. How about. How about a Johnny at.
Johnny LaRosa
Yes, a Johnny Jr? I do want kids. I want to. I have a big, crazy Italian family, so I do want kids.
Charity
Do you have any siblings?
Johnny LaRosa
I do. I have two sisters and one brother. They're a lot older. And then I have three nieces and three nephews.
Charity
Wow.
Kathy
Uncle Johnny's popular among the kids.
Charity
That's experience already.
Johnny LaRosa
Yeah, I've been an uncle since third grade. Third grade.
Kathy
Oh, wow.
Charity
Wait, is there a big gap between.
Johnny LaRosa
So I'm my dad's only. I'm my dad's only kid, and they have a different dad, but I consider them all real siblings. So, okay, my brother and sister in their 50s. My other sisters.
Charity
Oh, wow.
Johnny LaRosa
39. Then my nieces and nephews. A couple of them are in their 20s. Two play lacrosse at Penn State. One just graduated from U. Miami. Another one just graduated from Adelphi. And then a nephew that's two and another niece that's 13.
Kathy
Wow.
Charity
Wow. I'm like, you guys are literally all, like, every, like, age category.
Kathy
They got every generation covered.
Charity
No, truly. Oh, my God. Gosh.
Johnny LaRosa
Yes. But I love them so much.
Charity
Well, I am so, like, this is so fun. I love, like, getting to meet all of you guys and, like, just always welcoming new people to the Bachelor fam.
Casey Hux
It's.
Johnny LaRosa
I love it.
Charity
We're living in unprecedented times, but we're hopeful and optimistic for, you know, you guys, stories to be told and shared.
Kathy
Johnny, before we let you go, we're going to play a quick game of hot seat with some rapid fire prompts to help us get to know you just a little bit better. Let's get into it.
Johnny LaRosa
Okay. Whatever comes to mind, just say it.
Charity
Yeah. Just answer honestly. Quick.
Kathy
Yeah, it's rapid fire.
Charity
Johnny, you make a mean steak. How do you like yours cooked? And is steak the ultimate date food?
Johnny LaRosa
Medium rare. Yes.
Charity
Okay, good job.
Kathy
Okay, talk to us about your viral dance moves on TikTok. And can you give us a second sample?
Casey Hux
There you go.
Charity
Okay. Period. Oh, not. Not us. Clearing out. Come on now.
Johnny LaRosa
All right, all right, hold up, hold up. So it was to the song Call on Me. It's like, call on me. So I was like, call on me.
Charity
Uhhuh.
Johnny LaRosa
And then I do, like, a little. A little walk back. And then. And then I do, like, maybe a little seducing, all that stuff. And then. And then the beat drops and I'm
Charity
like, no, this is why he's on the cos.
Johnny LaRosa
I was doing that dance a lot, and a lot of people started doing it and. And they started tagging me. And, like, this just makes me happy. And it just made me feel good, so I started doing it.
Charity
I'm like, him and Clayton should do a dance off.
Johnny LaRosa
Yes. I'm not really good at dancing, but I love putting myself out there.
Charity
And that's. And that's Clayton. So I think you guys should do a dance off, and I support it. Okay. You said that you hate wet laundry. Explain the trauma with that.
Kathy
I.
Johnny LaRosa
There's something about wet laundry. Like, it comes out of the dryer and it's wet and, like, gives me the irk. It's kind of like if you're scratching the chalkboard.
Casey Hux
Oh, no.
Johnny LaRosa
That's what it feels like. It just really gets to me. I don't know why. It's like.
Charity
Yeah. Is it like. I'm assuming, like, just. It's sensory. It's texture for you.
Johnny LaRosa
Yeah.
Charity
Yeah.
Johnny LaRosa
Like, why is it less?
Kathy
Well, I hope you do your laundry. I hope that's not an excuse not to do the laundry.
Johnny LaRosa
No, I definitely do my laundry. I just. I've learned to put it back in the dryer or wear rubber gloves.
Kathy
All right.
Charity
Yeah. You don't want wet laundry.
Kathy
That is the end. Yeah. Okay. What's one moment you'd go back to in your life instantly since you said you wish you could relive memories?
Johnny LaRosa
I would go back to college. I would go back to college and just relive in just being with the boys, coming back from class and just hanging out on the couch and just kicking it. Not to worry about.
Kathy
And. Hey, Charity, who says men never grow up?
Charity
You did.
Kathy
Where did you go to school, Johnny? Where did you go to school?
Johnny LaRosa
The University of Hartford in Connecticut.
Kathy
Yeah, I'm head. I'm heading to Hartford next week.
Johnny LaRosa
Oh, nice.
Kathy
Say hello for you.
Johnny LaRosa
Yeah, say hello to them for me.
Charity
Oh, my God. Okay, well, before we leave, Johnny, is there anything you want to say or share with us? Bachelor nation? And also make sure you tag or drop your ig or tik tok. I'm assuming, since you're over there dancing on it. Drop your hands for us so that we can keep up with you.
Johnny LaRosa
Yes. Bachelor nation. I love you guys. You guys are the best. Team Johnny all the way. My Instagram is Johnny J O H N N I E LaRosa L A R o S S A and my TikTok, I think, is the same thing. Or you can look up, Johnny biceps. Because that's what I. I go by in classic basics.
Charity
Literally can't even die right now.
Kathy
Can't you see it, Charity? They're on the sofa in the frat house. Hey, Johnny bicep, How's it going?
Charity
I cannot. But honestly, I get it. Iconic. And I'm here. I'm here for it. Not going to lie.
Johnny LaRosa
It wasn't so full cream. Someone gave it to me, so I went along with it.
Charity
And we take it and we run with it exactly how it should be. Oh, my God. Thank you so much, Johnny, for joining us.
Kathy
