Consider a very powerful message from our 16th president, Abraham Lincoln. Our next guest, historian Jon Meacham, picked this quote for us from Lincoln's annual address to Congress back in 1862. Quote, Fellow citizens, we cannot escape history. We of this Congress and this administration will be remembered in spite of ourselves. The fiery trial through which we pass will light us down in honor or dishonor to the latest generation. Lincoln gave that address one month before he signed the Emancipation Proclamation, operating more like the head of a banana republic than the leader of so called big business party. Earlier today, in an extraordinary intervention into a private sector company, Donald Trump demanded that the CEO of the company, intel, resigned over his personal investments in China, writing, quote, the CEO of Intel is highly conflicted and must resign immediately. There is no other solution to this problem. Thank you for your attention to this problem, but I wanted you to join us tonight and think about President Trump's first 200 days, because that's where we are tonight. And I want you to think about Abraham Lincoln, someone who I know you have studied, written about, and consider to be one of our greatest presidents. What made you pick that particular quote, those words?
Jon Meacham
Because Lincoln puts us, us on the spot. People like me spend a lot of time understandably describing, studying, articulating, trying to find something new to say about the great leaders of the past. But what Lincoln understood and what I think all of us have to understand anew, is that democracies are not just about the leaders, it's about the lead. And that's all of us. Democracy is the fullest manifestation of all of us, of our hearts and minds, our habits, our appetites, our ambitions, our hopes and our fears. And somehow, over the last 250 years, the American Republican lowercase R experiment has endured. But it has endured with our being out of compliance for more years with the Declaration of Independence than we have been in compliance with it. Now, that is not to say that because we have made progress in the past, we have pursued a more perfect union, that does not mean we will continue to do so simply because we've done it in the past. But if we realize that we can't escape history as Lincoln said, and that as he said later in that same paragraph, we're either going to meanly lose or nobly save the last best hope of Earth. And he saw the Civil War not only about the abolition of slavery and the durability of union, but also it was a test for democracy. He said that at Gettysburg, right? Will this. Can this form of government, so conceived, long endure? And that's what we're facing.

So Israel's security cabinet held this marathon meeting last night. They voted in the early hours of the morning. Israel time to approve a plan to send the Israeli military in to seize control of Gaza City. Now that on its face is a little more limited than what Prime Minister Netanyahu said said to Fox News yesterday, which is that Israel plans to militarily occupy the entire Gaza Strip. It isn't clear at this point if taking Gaza City would be a first step towards eventually taking control of the entire Strip. There is deep opposition among Israel's military leadership. Nearly two years into this war, there is a feeling that Israel has achieved militarily all it can. And yet the politicians are sending the generals in now to ramp up this military offensive. There is deep concern, Willy, among the families of Israeli hostages we have seen in the past Hamas executing Israeli hostages. When IDF troops draw near. They are deeply, deeply frightened. The families of these roughly 20 or so surviving Israeli hostages. That you could see something similar as Israeli forces sweep in again on the ground. And then as you say, there is this major question about who controls Gaza. On the other side of this war, Netanyahu saying there that he wants to see an Arab force governing it. He is not saying who that is. We heard a unanimous statement from the Arab League last week saying that they believe Hamas should give up control in Gaza, that they should lay down their weapons and that they should hand over control to the Palestinian Authority, the internationally recognized Palestinian semi government. But in that security cabinet vote overnight, the Israeli government government explicitly saying they will not allow the Palestinian Authority to take control of Gaza. So at this point, despite fighting for nearly two years, it remains deeply, deeply unclear whether Netanyahu has any kind of long term plan for Gaza. He does say Israel doesn't want to stay there long term. It's worth saying that is not necessarily a consensus position inside the Israeli government. Some of the far right members of his cabinet would like to see Israeli settlements reestablished in Gaza. On the other side of us, in.
Stephen K. Bannon
The first Trump administration when the Muslim ban was put in place, think about all the leaders right in business and culture and society who stood up and said this is not who we are. After Charlottesville, they said this is not who we are. Fast forward to where we are right now and you think about all the business leaders who say, man, I have a fiduciary responsibility. I just have to play ball with this president no matter what. I can't get in the way. I can't be his adversary. Even if it's the right thing to do, because I've got bills to pay. What will that mean for us? Long term, big picture?
Jon Meacham
Long term, big picture, Democratic institutions, lowercase D in this case. I'm doing a lot of alphabetizing here, is that we may or may not have the same institutional norms and customs that you and I grew up with and that we're accustomed to. And when we say norms, I think people look at people who look like me and think, okay, old white man says norms. You know, that's sweet. That's the deep state. Blah, blah, blah. Not really. Because as a fundamental reality, no law can cover everything. No statute can cover everything. There's something about the spirit of the laws. There are certain norms. There are certain expectations you raise. You know, is this who we are? Yeah, it is who a lot of us are. And I throw myself in the, you know, the top of the top of the guilty pile there. However, the point of the United States of America is that because that's who we are on our less good days does not mean that's who we have to be all the time. This is a democracy, is aspirational. It is about somehow calling on what Lincoln called in other contexts, our better angels. And look, if we do the right thing 51% of the time, that's going to be a hell of a good era and we'll be okay. But right now, we're not exactly scraping. We're not exactly hitting that target.
Brian Harrison
Republicans, like you mentioned there, Senator Cornyn, Governor Abbott, are all trying to make this as painful as possible for Democrats. Now, about five days into this quorum break, work here at the Texas Capitol is stalled as they wait for Democrats to and give Republicans a quorum. Republicans are pulling out all the stops to try and force them home, including arresting them outside of the states. Up until this point, the narrative was, if you're outside of Texas, you're outside the jurisdiction of the Texas state troopers. That could compel you to the Capitol. Now they are trying to get an Illinois court to recognize the arrest warrant that is valid for them in Texas. I spoke with Senator Cornyn yesterday as well. He said that the FBI could investigate possible federal felony bribery charges to. To escalate this from not just a civil arrest warrant in Texas, but to. To real felony charges that could land some of these Democrats in. In jail. I spoke to the governor yesterday at. At his residence about how all of this plays into the larger political picture, especially Willie, the urgent need for flood relief in Texas. That is a priority of this special Session as well, but up until now has really taken the back seat to the legislative progress on redistricting. Take a listen to some of our interview. When President Trump says, though, that he is entitled to five more Republican seats, that's been the stated goal of all of this, is to create five more red districts.
Alex DeGrasse
Right.
Brian Harrison
He feels entitled to that. Should that not be a decision for the voters?
Governor Abbott
Well, my job as governor is to be able to ensure that we have congressional lines that align to ensure that voters are going to be able to vote for their candidate of choice. And the way these lines are drawn ensures that voters who chose President Trump are not going to be trapped in a Democrat district, but instead they're going to be able to vote in a congressional district that aligns with their philosophy.
Brian Harrison
I'm sure you, you expected redistricting would, would be an intense political fight. Why not do flood relief first and, and get that urgent need out there and then have this political fight?
Governor Abbott
Let's be clear about something. When I issued the special session agenda, which lasts only 30 days, the first items that I put on there were relief for all the victims of the deadly floods that we've had in the state of Texas. There's only one thing that's denying our ability to get legislation passed and it's these Democrats who have fled the state turn their backs on their fellow constituents.
Brian Harrison
We appreciate the governor's time there, Willie. I also asked him if he thinks it's appropriate for the FBI to get involved in this state political standoff. He said he's not going to get into the specifics of who may or may not be involved in this from the federal level. But he said that they are using every tool that they can to, quote, hold these Democrats accountable. The Texas House convenes again today and, and all eyes are on the House to see if there will be a quorum. But Democrats are showing no signs of letting up. They continue to be defiant. Today. Some of them are heading to California to stand with Governor Newsom and former Speaker Pelosi as they continue this standoff.

Friday, the 8th of August, the year of alert 2025. Welcome to the morning edition of the War Room. We are packed today. We're so packed. We came into our long open because the cold open was so jammed with news of things that are happening and much, much, much more. I have Dave brat and Alex DeGrasse to kick things off. Dave Bratt, you're the philosopher. You're the resident philosopher around here. It's the 200th day of President Trump's administration. I think that the greatest 200 days in modern American politics. And when I say modern, I go back to the beginning of the 20th century. Just absolutely incredible of what this individual has done with his leadership and a great team around him. Give me your perspective. The left is in now. They're calling up Lincoln. It's, you know, he's an authoritarian, Trump's an authoritarian, he's a fascist. The country's going to hell in the hand basket. Your perspective, please, sir.
Dave Brat
Yeah, My perspective is he is the greatest president in modern history. And we'll go through the punch list of why that is. But Meacham, you know, always has it exactly backwards when it comes to leadership. He says what matters is not the leaders. It matters what these little peons called followers do. That tells you what he thinks of us, what he thinks of the American people, the Americans. And then he mentions Republic and all this stuff. Meacham, you got it all wrong. Trump is a political genius and a great leader precisely because he listens to the heart and soul of the American people, and he loves the American people and he trusts the American people. And so, you know, let's. That's what makes a great leader. He listens. And when he gets off course and once in a while he gets off course, the American people thump them. The base thumps him a little bit, and he is responsive. He goes, what? Sometimes he's getting bad counsel and he corrects it and does an executive order the next day. But let's just go through a punch list briefly, right? What does he come in with? What's he faced with? He's faced with, you know, 37 trillion in debt, an anemic economy, the border invasion, wars in the Middle east brewing, the Ukraine boondoggle, where we're bl. In massive cash and people are dying like crazy. And then what's he do? He abandons free trade, upends relations with American allies, eviscerates his own government bureaucracy, and bombs Iran. Not bad, for starters. But it's more than that. And just contrast that, right, with other executives, other presidents or congressional leaders, speakers the Senate. They pick one issue per term or for a couple of years to run on, and that's been good enough in the past. And then they don't execute. What. What's striking about Trump is he executes. So he's got the big, beautiful bill. Tax cuts done by July 4th reshape Naito. Ukraine deal will put an end to that. I think that's looking promising right now. I'm reading the tea leaves too far out. But if Putin ever says, hey, the terms of this deal are looking okay, and you know that's going to end with a keyword that's to going never mentioned by the mainstream media. And that's naito. There will be no more Naito. Encroachment.
Unknown Speaker
Right.
Dave Brat
The deal we made in 91 and we lied. We got to quit lying because we're setting up part of these tensions. And Trump, Trump knows this. He wants out of this. He mentions death every five seconds. And that's just a glimpse, right? That's just a glimpse of granted. 200 days.
Alex DeGrasse
Hang on one second. We're taking a short commercial break. Alex DeGrasse. Dave. Brett Deeds not words. He destroyed two political dynasties in 2016, the Bush and the Clinton, and became the greatest president in modern times. This July there is a global summit of BRICS nations in Rio de Janeiro. The block of emerging superpowers including China, Russia, India and Persia are meeting with the goal of displacing the United States dollar as the global currency. They're calling this the Rio Reset. As BRICS nations push forward with their plans, global demand for US dollars will decrease, bringing down the value of the dollar in your savings. While this transition won't not happen overnight, but trust me, it's going to start in Rio. The Rio Reset in July marks a pivotal moment when BRICS objectives move decisively from a theoretical possibility towards inevitable reality. Okay. There's a packed day today. There's going to be a peace conference at an assigning this afternoon at the White House. We're going to cover that nonstop. I'll be doing the six o' clock show, the five, maybe a little truncated. Natalie's going to do that. She's got a lot to report, particularly on the, I think some updates on sticking the landing on this situation with seditious conspiracy, the treasonous conspiracy. So the afternoon shows are going to be packed, although President Trump's going to be in the Oval, I think, starting at 4. That may get obviously, it's quite a big event. We're going to actually have some expert here later in the hour. Also, we're going to talk about transgender later and the bio industry. There's a huge movement to take ads off TV that we'll get into. Alex De Grasse joins us. Alex, of course, the most important story in the world politically right now is still this redistricting, which is really about a fundamental realignment of modern American politics. And I think the audience knows, since you've been laboring at this for years, that you're one of the leaders of this movement. I want to pull the camera back just for a second, though, because you're one of the rising young leaders in the conservative movement, Republican Party and particularly maga. What's your perspective on President Trump and particularly this younger generation? The perspective on President Trump on the 200th day, sir?
I
Well, thanks, Steve. Those are really kind words. It's an honor to be, you know, hammering on the show and working with the posse on multiple fronts on all these important issues. But, you know, I think it gives a lot of hope, I think, for young conservatives in their 30s, 20s. And now we've got this growing population of really MAGA conservatives in their teens and in their early 20s in college. And I think it's because the woke, I don't really want to use the word woke, but this just vicious Marxist that's just been pushed, pushed, pushed, pushed. President Trump is really the first leader to really see stand in the breach, push back on an unprecedented level and really, I think, change the calculus and outlook on the American culture and how we really had almost lost it, Steve, I would argue, I mean, we were really on the brink. I think if Harris had won, I think with another four years, they would have really chased out American history and culture. And I think how President Trump has stood in the breach and pushed back, whether it be on education and what we're seeing on these college campuses and schools. I think it's a huge thing and I think it's really just the beginning. I see now he's subpoenaing or they're asking for admission information. Obviously the show has talked about how much foreign Chinese, Communists, I mean they're gutting our schools and they're taking up all the slots. And we really have a crisis in this country where the American dream has been slipping away. We have the housing ownership crisis. It's not something that people are going to fix overnight. But I think President Trump's policies are taking the steps to, you know, it's a long slog, you know, with the Fed and all of these multi front war he's fighting. I mean it gives hope to us younger conservatives that hey, we have to stay in the fight. It's going to be a long term effort. But you know, this is just the beginning of sort of culling the curve, I think of this sort of push towards obviously Marxism in this country.
Alex DeGrasse
I want to, I want to talk about, I want to talk about that because you have, in New York City, you do have a young generation of these Marxist jihadists and they've got a political movement. They've got. And people better not deny it because it's going to come rolling through November. In New York City, you've got the Working People's Party and the DSA and they have a ground game, I keep telling folks like the posse and the precinct strategy and the Trump movement has a ground game and activists, et cetera, that knock on doors and canvas do all the unsung work out there. But I would argue that the generation of young men, 17 to 30 or 18 to 30 are the most based generation, I would argue, in American history. Why is that because of Trump or is that some cultural thing that's driving, that's helping Trump go forward or is it some combination, sir?
I
I would argue it's a combination. And I agree. I think the mom dummy, I think the sort of, they're kind of ripping the band aid off and now being open about. I think they are in response to us, I would argue. Right. And the achievements that MAGA has done, I think they are the response to, you know, they're sort of now spiraling in that direction where before it was sort of a hidden game. Right. I mean they were kind of pushing that type of stuff to an extent. Quietly, maybe not as much more corporatists, of course. And now it's sort of out in the open, I think, and they're spiraling. But no, I would agree. I think it's a combination. I think President Trump has inspired a lot of people I know, and they've sort of engaged in the political process and I think starting from 2016, and it's been a long road for people, I think, you know, geez, that was quite some time ago when he came down the escalator. And I, I know a lot of young men at the time, and they sort of started asking questions, you know, the welfare state and about illegal immigration and job prospects. And I would say on top of that, you have just the external factors. And how when I was in college, I mean, you're hammered, Steve. I mean, just vicious left. And a lot of the, you know, far left, women, more so right. I mean, they're socially very, you know, they exclude. And you're always under attack. Under attack, under attack on all front, on your values. And it makes you think, hey, I don't want to say swear words on the show, but kind of f this, we have to fight back. And then here comes Trump, right? He's out here holding the banner sword in one hand and he's out in the front. And it gives people a lot of hope that, hey, we could push back, we can get things done, we can achieve things for the country, we can achieve the American dream. There's still hope to advance this republic further because, I mean, it really was on the brink. You look at the weaponization. I mean, if President Trump can get to the bottom of Russiagate, which us as young conservatives, we dealt with, hey, I had people sit me down, you know, say, hey, Trump's a Russian agent. What are you doing? I mean, just crazy people I've, like, grown up with that won't even talk to me, you know, so the social, the societal pressures, I think are breaking because they can't answer to the facts that Trump is putting forward on just the weaponization, just the corruption, the FBI and everything that had gone on. And now it's all getting exposed. And that's why, obviously, they're panicking out of control. But the Mamdani stuff, the jihadist stuff, that is the new focal point. And that will be the fight for us to handle the next generation. And it's going to be a major throwdown. This is just the beginning of that culmination, I would argue. And it's not just in New York City. It's all over the country, actually. And I find some articles and send you there. They're picking off these mayor races. You look at Minnesota now they've got that crazy guy and it's bigger than I think people realize. I think the posse understands. When I did that deep dive show, I think a month ago or so, I still have people talking to me about that. So people are very locked in on that.
Alex DeGrasse
No, it's the next generation. That's what I'm saying. On our side, the most based generation in history of these young men. You're going to have a fight for the direction of this country. This fight's not going to be over with. President Trump's, even his next term. Hang on for one second. I'm going to get to redistricting, the big picture and how important this is, why it's driving the global narrative right now. But I want to get in. Brian Harrison. I think we've got him by phone. Brian, going across Texas. Brian, can you give us an update? Are we getting any action? The action items. Have we taken parking spots? Have we taken away seniority? We, we hear a lot of, we hear a lot of, we hear a lot of the rhetoric, but we're not seeing actions. Where do we stand on this Friday morning?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, so I'm driving to the Capitol, so I couldn't be on video. I'm, I'm driving to the Capitol in Austin, Texas, for what will likely be, by the official count, day five of the quorum break. Although, as the posse knows, because the posse is more educated than on just about any other media consumer out there, the real quorum break started last Wednesday when our rhino speaker released the Democrats to go huddle up with Hakeem Jeffries in the Capitol here in the state of Texas. So on day five, my checklist for this morning, just to get everybody updated on the statistics, the number of seats that have been vacated, still, zero charges filed against these Democrats. Zero arrests, zero chairmanships revoked, zero committee assignments stripped, zero budgets cut, zero. Parking spots removed, zero Seniority strip, zero offices defunded, zero. However, our speaker did put out another strongly worded memo late yesterday. And in this strongly worded memo, he told these Democrats he's done messing around. It's time to get tough. And to you Democrats, this is what the speaker said. He said, we and you get back to Texas, we will pay you in full, but you're gonna have to come to my office to pick up the check. We're not gonna direct deposit, so we'll pay you in full. But you gotta come to my office to get the check whenever you return. So, yeah, that is the, that is the exception sense of the action. But let me tell you something. Let me give you a little bit of glimmer of hope, guys. The pressure is working. We're seeing online from the governor, Lieutenant, Governor, speaker, they are hearing from the posse and oh boy, they don't like it, but it's making a difference, at least in their rhetoric. And just late last night, Steve, you and I and the posse been talking for days about the Harrison proposal, which is my hardball plan that for every week the Democrats are gone, add one more Republican seat. Well, well, guess who went on TV and acted like they came up with that idea yesterday. None other than the Governor of the state of Texas is now, at least, at least with words, sort of endorsing the Harrison proposal. Although he, he won't call it that. So I just got to say the, the posse is making a difference in terms of. These guys are feeling the heat, so their rhetoric is getting stronger. But unfortunately, as we're into officially day five, really day nine or ten, it is nothing more than empty words, hot air and rhetoric. And Texans deserve better. We need action, we need results. These Democrats need to feel the pain.
Alex DeGrasse
Is this going to be a two minute session today or are you really going to try to have a session since you don't have a quorum? I mean, are the Republicans at least going to conference and talk about this?
Unknown Speaker
Well, here's the sad reality for the last. I mean, our RINO speaker, keep in mind, our RINO speaker that was elected by these very Democrats that fled the state, okay, he gave the Democrats basically a three day reprieve. He didn't even, he didn't even try to gave us in yesterday or the day before. The last time we even made an attempt was Tuesday. So that's the bot like the lowest hanging fruit. Why the hell are we not forcing a roll call every day? I mean, that's just not been happening for two days. So today will be our first chance since Tuesday to even in theory require people to show up and register that they're here. So most likely, again, anything's possible. Okay, anything's possible. But most likely we will show up, we will not have a quorum and then we will adjourn. I'm unaware of any serious strategy sessions happening anywhere.
Alex DeGrasse
Brian, Brian, Brian, hang on one second. We're just gonna take a short commercial break. Brian Harrison, Alex Degrasse, Dave Bratz, my wingman for the entire show short commercial break. It's a good homework assignment for you all over the weekend in a beautiful month of August. Brian harrison, so then therefore, can we put up the numbers, the numbers we have for Texas? And I get feedback from the audience all the time and from the engine room. People are really feeling this. They feel like they're driving something that's important throughout the whole country. But as always, as goes Texas, so goes America. Give us some guidance here what we need to do because I'm kind of shocked, particularly see Abbott trying to draft off your idea and these guys, you know, everybody there's talking big talk, but still there's no action when these actions are pretty definable, you know? What is your recommended next step for the War Room Posse? To make sure that we can continue to drive this narrative, sir?
Unknown Speaker
Well, a couple things on that. Number one, don't be discouraged. You are making a difference. If it were not for the War Room Posse, okay, being out, out ahead of this, in front.
Alex DeGrasse
It was.
Unknown Speaker
It was the War Room Posse before this became the biggest story, not just in America, but the biggest story, one of the biggest stories on the planet right now. You guys were ahead of the curve. And if it weren't for the early pressure from the posse, I can guarantee you the liberal Austin uniparty establishment would have 100% been able to get away with their usual, you know, song and dance games and theater where they be like, okay, President Trump. Okay, Texas Republicans will. We'll add redistricting to the agenda. And, you know, we'll try and, oh, it didn't work out. But you know what? We. We tried because that's their usual stunt. You know, look like you're doing something while you're doing nothing and then blame the Democrats. So I assure you, the posse is making a difference. Number two, full spectrum. Keep the pressure up. The governor of Texas, I promise you, would never be out there, you know, as you say, drafting off my idea, you know, copy and pasting the Harrison proposal to add more Republican seats if we weren't out there demanding it, if the posse wasn't calling his office and saying, hey, we know you can do this. Why aren't you doing it? And number three, full spectrum. The governor's got the tools he needs to keep hearing it. Here's something I just tweeted, okay? I haven't done much of this. Here's a big new one for the posse. Just a little more color when you're making your phone calls. The lieutenant governor, the Texas Senate, all the ayes have been in the Texas House with our RINO speaker, who released the Democrats. But why? Here's the story no one's talking about. Why the hell has the Texas Senate, which has not had a quorum break, not passed the redistricting maps? Okay? I mean, there's no excuse for this not to have already sailed through the Texas Senate. I mean, I can tell you they've had enough time over the last three weeks to pass their ridiculous ban on hemp. You know, the stuff that President Trump legalized six years ago. So they've been able to pass bills over there, but they have not passed the redistricting Map. So this is a full spectrum of salt that the posse needs to keep up on the weak establishment leadership of the state of Texas. That reminds them, we know you could have stopped it. You didn't, but we know you have the power to stop it at any time. Get it done now. And just for folks who are keeping score at home, the governor's threat to vacate Democrats that flew, that fled the state. That deadline was 3pm on Monday. So at 3pm today, it will be the five day anniversary of the empty threat to vacate House Democrats to those who celebrate. So keep it up. We've got, we need action. Because I'm becoming more convinced, I've been down here 40 years since I finished working for President Trump in his first term. I'm becoming convinced that there are no creatures on earth more feckless than Texas elected Republicans. And it's past time we change that. Texas must lead. As goes Texas, so goes the nation. As goes America, so goes the world. Texas is the line in the sand for the future of our country. The posse is playing a role. They're making a difference. Keep the pressure up.
Alex DeGrasse
Brian Harrison, where do we go? Where do people go to get your social media, particularly Twitter feed, sir?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, please go to the Twitter feed on X because I can tell you guys, it is the most hated Twitter feed in the entire city of Austin, maybe the state of Texas for the, for the rhinos and the liberal media. Brian E. Harrison on X. Brian E. Harrison. Brian E. Harrison. We post 10, 20, 30, 50 times, live updates. But Steve, you and the posse man, thank you for spreading the word across the country. Y' all been ahead of this the whole time. We got to keep it up. You're a warrior.
Alex DeGrasse
Thank you, sir. Appreciate the update. If Grace, I think Mo's traveling today back from Poland with posts on that crowd. Grace, if you can, please take those numbers. Let's get them up on getter. Let's get them up on all the different sites right there. And let's particularly this morning, let's put a blast into Lt. Governor Patrick and say where is the Senate? Why has the Senate not passed this already? You got a quorum, so you got the numbers right there. Let them have it. Both barrels. Alex DeGrasse. I don't have time. We're so packed today. I don't have time because I had a cold open for you. I've got Karl Rove. I get the editor board, you know, Paul Gigot and the editorial board of the Wall Street Journal. I've got Mitch Daniels and You know, got all, you know, the Bush highlight reel, Mitch Daniels in Indiana, remember little Mitch was going to be president of the United States. That didn't work out too well. You got Karl Rove. I get Everybody lecturing Alex DeGrasse, all these Republicans on national television about how the plan that you and a handful of others have concocted to basically change modern American politics and diffuse power back to where the, to where the founders wanted it. And now President Trump coming in and dropping the big hammer and say, you know what, I'm seeing this reduction, I like it, but I want to middle mid decade census to get all the illegal aliens out of here. What's your response then? What's your response to Karl Rove and Paul Gigio, the Wall Street Journal editor, saying, oh no, this is terrible, you shouldn't do this. This is going to be awful. The Democrats are going to think and it's un American. Alex DeGrasse so I would just say.
I
We really have one chance in front of us to save the country. And many of these people you mentioned, they haven't been with us along the way for the fight, Steve. So I would recommend people not pay attention to what they have to say. Of course, of course they're out there making a lot of noise. But where were any of these people during the weaponization, this, that and they were obviously nowhere to be found because I believe many of them were probably supporting it because I think what many Republicans in the establishment fear is the sort of magnification of the party down the road. Right? It's not that this will be packed past President Trump, which of course is what the war room posse is fighting for. And if we get the things that we spoke about right, on the redistricting, on the census, on Supreme Court cases, you will see certainly the national populace and sort of magnification of the Republican Party will be cemented, Steve. It will be the dominant force not just within the Republican Party and the conservative movement, but the across but for the country in the foreseeable future. And there's literally no spin about that. And so a lot of people's power and money will be upset by this. And so as I've spoken to people since then, people are like, there's no way this can happen because there's so much at stake for so many people, Steve, that I think this will be, as I said, the fight of our lifetime politically. Because if we can achieve this, which nothing is guaranteed, of course, on the Supreme Court, on the census, there's going to be all types of legal burdens and challenges throughout this process. But if we can even get half of what we're talking about, it still would protect our republic to continue to make the positive MAGA changes over the next 10 years.
Alex DeGrasse
But if our target and our target remains to get it all and my thing is it's all or not. We got to get it all. And here's why. You've got a convergence of these forces that happen every now again, you've got the voting rights situation in Louisiana, which I think is and people waited for a long time to bring these cases. It's a quite brilliant case. You've got the voting rights situation. You have the demographic shifts in the country. You got President Trump asking for a mid decade and he's going to get it. He ain't asking for it by the way. He's telling commerce we're going to do this. Okay, you've got then you've got these states who's had these demographic changes coming into the states and then where people are living in the states. Jake Sherman, who's about as savvy as anybody on Capitol Hill. Very conventional savvy. Today's punch bowl. And if Grace can cut this part out and I think Jake would would appreciate because he'll get him more subscribers. He goes through the whole thing. He's a little late to the party on this, but he walks through the whole thing, including Florida, Indiana, where else of this is going? DeSantis is on board here because DeSantis wants to run for presidentis wants to run for run for president in 2028. I understand he's not Maga's favorite because of what happened, but he understands just like Abbott, if you want to have a hand in this, if you want to have even an entry stake into that, you got to get on this train right now. If you're not in this fight, then that'll be remembered forever because this is the fight. This is a realignment right now that will be will echo. They talked about the fiery trial of what Lincoln said at the beginning. This will echo down through the ages right now because you will not reverse this for decades and decades and decades. Alex DeGrasse yeah, that's right.
I
I mean this is it. I mean this really has I mean Stephen Miller went on TV I think about the same time we were talking about this on War Room and he said on Fox just The census is 2030 seats based off his numbers of illegal immigrants in the cities and whatnot that are counted in the census, which then apportions the congressional districts. And so, I mean, this really is. I mean, this is the ball game, Steve, when you look at how we're able to put together, because I don't think anyone's gonna say that, hey, we're able to. I mean, President Trump has done so much in such a short time. It's unbelievable. But I think the bigger problems facing the country on affordability, on housing and all that stuff is going to take a very sustained process. And I think we need more time that we can to really change and alter the course of this country. And I think we will do it, of course. And we have to stand firm because, yeah, Punchbowl is great. And they are the most plugged in reporters on the Hill, of course. And they've got that rundown that shows, hey, we win in this fight. And so that is why Democrats are spiraling and that is why Rhinos are.
Alex DeGrasse
Out there freaking out. Jake Sherman is not maga and he said, hey, I'll be blunt. They don't have a lot of defenses here and these guys have got weapons and they're coming. I mean, it's an amazing piece. That's why I want people to read it. The Target is about 40 to 42 seats. Right? This is a 40 seat thing. This. So this is. And Texas is the lead. This is why we got to deliver Texas. When do you think it's going to heat up in Florida? I understand they're talking about map and people are going to love the map in Florida even more because it's going to take out. It's going to take out some of the most obnoxious people in the House. I know that's random, but what do you think is going to heat up in Florida?
I
Well, I think, I think everything's looking at Texas like Brian saying. I think it's a little of a logjam now. So I think when that gets pushed through, I think things will start shifting. I would assume DeSantis wouldn't wait. I'm not. I got to check on that. I'm assuming sooner than later. But I think everyone's kind of waiting on Texas because once that happens, that I think you'll see a chain reaction, obviously on both sides. But the reality is that we have more firepower on this fight and, you know, they'll draw some seats and that will be tougher for some people, of course, but we will get more. And so that's why they're freaking out. That's the issue.
Alex DeGrasse
I want everybody to read this. I want everybody to read Jake Sherman's dispassionate analysis of this because it's quite. Folks, it'll give you. If you think you're jacked up now, you'll really get jacked up when you see the ass establishment. What they're saying about this. Degrasse social media people want to follow you because every moment of every day now we're engaged in this combat on reshaping the structure of modern American politics by a representation. Where do people go? Sir?
I
Thanks, Steve. I'm at Degrasse 81 on X, at De Grasse, on getter and truth. Thank you, Steve. We got to keep pushing on Texas. The rest will start coming online, but good job, Brian and everyone. But let's just keep pressure on that. Work the phones.

Here's your host, Stephen K. Bannon.
Alex DeGrasse
I want to reiterate the importance of this audience. I mean, you were there. You've been there since the beginning. Many of you have. From worm impeachment, worm and pandemic in the election, the election fraud, all of it. And President Trump being exiled to Mar a Lago in January 2021. Many of you veterans are combat hardened. But every fight here, every day is for the future, right? For the present and for the future. That's why we in thinking through with Alex De Grasse and other people and meeting Brian Harrison, knowing Brian coming on the show a couple times before, but understanding the importance of this and meeting with Texas Grassroots and really walking through the fact that this is everything because this is grassroots muscle versus the establishment. Maybe I'll do it at 6 or maybe I'll do it tomorrow. I'll show you the resistance. Karl Rove. Well, Brad, I'll bring you in because you had to deal with this when you were in the House and when you ran because you were ultra conservative at the time and you're MAGA now, you were a tea party. That's what got you in. And you saw this up there. But when you have Carl Rove on fox, Mitch Daniels meeting with the vice president, his team, right. Mitch Daniels and the editorial page of the Wall Street Journal, Paul Gigothat's it. I mean that's the Republican Chamber of Commerce elitist business community mentality. And they hate this. One of the reasons they hate this is they want Trump impeached. They got their tax cuts, they got their goodies. They're all around there. They got it. They would love Trump to get crushed in the second part of this and to kill the MAGA movement. They hate it. Mitch Daniels and Karl Rove hate you, this audience. They hate you more than they disagree with the Democrats. Look down in Texas. Look in Texas, folks, if you didn't go fix bayonets on this, nothing would have happened. The grassroots in Texas have risen up and they've risen up in their righteous indignation say no way we're getting this done and we don't care who's going to stand on our way here, particularly a bunch of do nothing people like, like Abbott, right. And now Abbott sitting there taking the Harrison plan. Yeah, I think for every week they're out there, put another dude. Don't worry about the other ones. Get the five we got on the table. Dave, Brat thoughts? Observations, sir?
Dave Brat
Yeah, well, you've had it, right? I mean the deep state is the key, right? That the deep state has to be taken down. In the opening you had reference to Charlottesville again, but the Ukraine war and ending the war, Trump can do huge damage to that crowd if he shuts down. You know, all of these things are just funding sources for the Democrat Party Actblue and all these kind of things. When I ran, the Dems were getting money, just falling out of the heavens, I mean, just constantly. And I was like, how does this happen? And then Charlottesville comes. You know, officers died at Charlottesville. And they're still using that meme. That is grotesque morally to be using that. That's been debunked thoroughly. But you heard it just this morning from the top, top shelf news folks. The Washington Post, of course, nuked me for plagiarism. They were in all the big tech just a couple years ago, were censoring all of us and now we're supposed to believe they're our buddies. And so you've had it right on the deep state and then on the ending the wars, which of course is a part of that. But then the Republican Party, I got no money, right? So Virginia politics, just the same as Texas, maybe not quite as bad, but the speaker of the House of Virginia, I think I've been told had the authority in my redistricting case that didn't have to happen. But somehow he didn't put in the lines and he let some independent party and that's the unit party. And then my leadership, Paul Ryan sent me no money, no money. So that's the way the Karl rose and all. They're very sophisticated. And you know, you said Jake Sherman is, you know, savvy. He is savvy. But they just nick you with 1000 million wounds, right? They just. Today, Politico, look at Politico today. They're getting in the weeds on the size of our tax cuts. They never get in the weeds on Democrat forgeries. The Democrats are involved in so many obscenities. You know, $30 million to the big guys, right? And not, not a word, no interest. The Hunter Biden laptop, that piece, that's a huge receipt. That's never covered. They never mentioned Tulsi's thousands of documents she's turned over as evidence. They just say she's put forward a conspiracy. Well, now Bondi's reference that to a grand jury, that is all huge news. So the deep state, they're getting nervous. The Republicans are part of it. They make deals, right? It's very interesting how governors are chosen. And you can almost see there's a trade off from year to year. We'll put a Republican in as long as they don't do anything. Then the Democrats come in for a term or two and then the Republicans get the crumbs. But we never move the football until Trump. Now we're finally moving the football down the field full speed because he has the vision and he's a master CEO negotiator. Right. I was with some business friends the other day up in Michigan and the business guys were all just I've never seen a negotiator like this. I never seen a deal maker like this. And they're all just business guys and they just I never thought of it that way. But they're just going I never seen anybody make deals. And now with India, I just want to bring that's in the news right now. And you know, it's a little curious. I looked it up this morning. India's only spending 1.9% of GDP on defense. That's inexcusable. India's successful. They're huge. We're doing more on the South China Sea, etc. Than they are. They need to step up to the plate and take on their share of global responsibilities, not to mention just the terms of the tariff deal. And I think that's why Trump's ticked off. It's like, why are we doing everything they need to take up their share of global financing, et cetera. And that's why I think Trump has ticked off.
Alex DeGrasse
And if he didn't have his leadership and here's the thing, now that we've proven this reductioning fight is not just one of them must be won. The president's come in with something so powerful to order. The Commerce Department is this is not like the first term. Yeah, we playing you know these guys. He's telling the Commerce for Hey, you're this is what you're going to do. And Stephen Miller is absolutely correct. It's 20, 30 additional seats than what we're getting because you can take all those illegal aliens out of which ought to be. It's ridiculous. Dave, Brett, hang on. You're riding shotgun here this morning, second hour. We're going to talk about this Armenia situation, this peace deal, also this corridor. What it all means. Is it America first. John Lott's going to join us. What the hell is going on in Washington D.C. looks like President Trump may federalize the police enforcement there because the city's out of control with crime. Podcast Summary: Bannon's War Room
Episode 4692: Realignment Of Modern American Politics And Trump's 200th Day
Release Date: August 8, 2025
In Episode 4692 of Bannon's War Room, host Stephen K. Bannon delves into the significant realignment occurring within modern American politics, marking President Donald Trump's 200th day in office. The episode features a range of guests, including historian Jon Meacham, political strategist Brian Harrison, conservative commentator Alex DeGrasse, and former Congressman Dave Brat. Throughout the discussion, the focus is on Trump's impact, redistricting efforts in Texas, international affairs, and the broader implications for democracy in the United States.
[00:00] Stephen K. Bannon opens the episode by quoting Abraham Lincoln:
"Fellow citizens, we cannot escape history. We of this Congress and this administration will be remembered in spite of ourselves. The fiery trial through which we pass will light us down in honor or dishonor to the latest generation."
Bannon draws a parallel between Lincoln's pivotal moment before the Emancipation Proclamation and Trump's actions in his early tenure, highlighting a recent incident where Trump demanded the resignation of Intel's CEO over conflicts of interest with China investments.
[01:25] Jon Meacham responds to the Lincoln quote, emphasizing that:
"Democracies are not just about the leaders, it's about the lead. And that's all of us. Democracy is the fullest manifestation of all of us, of our hearts and minds..."
(01:25)
Meacham underscores the enduring nature of American republicanism despite periodic non-compliance with foundational ideals. He likens the current political climate to Lincoln's Civil War era, framing it as a test for democracy's resilience.
[03:18] Host Willy & Guest Discussion
The episode shifts to international affairs, focusing on Israel's recent security cabinet decision to potentially militarily occupy Gaza City. The urgency stems from concerns over Israeli hostages held by Hamas and the lack of a clear long-term plan for Gaza's governance. The discussion highlights the internal conflict within Israel's military leadership and political factions regarding the extent of occupation.
[05:33] Stephen K. Bannon reflects on the shift from past administrations, noting how business leaders previously resisted policies like the Muslim ban and Charlottesville's aftermath. He contrasts this with the current trend where business leaders feel compelled to align with Trump due to fiduciary responsibilities, even when it conflicts with their personal convictions.
[06:06] Jon Meacham elaborates on the erosion of democratic norms, stating:
"No law can cover everything. No statute can cover everything. There's something about the spirit of the laws... Democracy is aspirational."
(06:06)
He warns that current Republican adherence to outdated norms poses a threat to the nation's democratic fabric.
[07:43] Brian Harrison provides a detailed update on the Republican efforts in Texas to gain additional congressional seats through redistricting. He criticizes the Texas Senate for failing to pass redistricting maps despite having ample time, attributing this to weak establishment leadership. Harrison emphasizes the importance of grassroots pressure to compel action, stating:
"Texas must lead. As goes Texas, so goes the nation."
(31:17)
[09:14] Alex DeGrasse and Brian Harrison discuss the implications of redistricting, highlighting Governor Abbott's alignment with the Harrison proposal to add Republican seats. They stress the necessity of a unified effort from the War Room Posse to maintain momentum and apply pressure on Texas lawmakers.
Notable Quote:
"The Texas House convenes again today and, and all eyes are on the House to see if there will be a quorum."
(Brian Harrison, 10:26)
[12:06] Dave Brat praises Trump as "the greatest president in modern history," attributing Trump's success to his ability to connect with and execute the will of the American people. He contrasts this with traditional political leaders who, in his view, lack the same level of effectiveness and commitment.
[18:20] Alex DeGrasse discusses the surge of young conservatives inspired by Trump's leadership, arguing that the younger generation is pivotal in resisting Marxist influences and preserving American culture. He states:
"President Trump is really the first leader to really stand in the breach, push back on an unprecedented level and really change the calculus and outlook on the American culture."
(18:20)
[27:08] Alex DeGrasse and Brian Harrison lament the lack of concrete actions from Texas Republicans despite strong rhetoric. Harrison criticizes the inaction and calls for the posse to intensify efforts to achieve tangible results, such as passing redistricting maps.
[31:17] Brian Harrison outlines strategic steps for the War Room Posse:
[34:31] Alex DeGrasse urges listeners to follow Brian Harrison on social media to stay updated and engaged in the fight for political realignment.
Notable Quote:
"The posse is making a difference. Keep the pressure up."
(Brian Harrison, 31:26)
As the episode nears its end, Jon Meacham and other guests reiterate the critical nature of the ongoing political battles, particularly redistricting and combating internal party corruption. They emphasize that the actions taken in Texas will have nationwide repercussions, further shaping the future of American politics.
[40:13] Jon Meacham concludes by highlighting the collective effort required to sustain the Republican momentum and safeguard democratic principles:
"If we can achieve this, which nothing is guaranteed, of course, on the Supreme Court, on the census, there's going to be all types of legal burdens and challenges throughout this process. But if we can even get half of what we're talking about, it still would protect our republic to continue to make the positive MAGA changes over the next 10 years."
(40:13)
