Two senior administration officials gave the summary that you just described. It's broadly speaking, going to address the vulnerability of election machines. And then two countries in particular, China and Venezuela. These same officials cautioned me that the President hasn't signed off on this speech. The President can still make changes. So we really won't know exactly what's going to be in it until he delivers it on Thursday night. There's the White House task force that we've talked about. They're part of drafting this speech. So is Ratcliffe. But that task force is combing through thousands of pages of classified intelligence and law enforcement documents, looking, I would assume, for evidence of, you know, what the President has claimed without proof, without evidence, but looking for evidence that actual votes were changed on the ground somehow or by some foreign country. And so that's what people should look for in this speech, the assessment. That's quote from Radcliffe. What he was saying was that the views of analysts who were saying China was more was very actively trying to influence the election. He's saying that wasn't welcomed by the CIA. And again, I want to point out who ran the CIA in 2020. Gina Haspel. Donald Trump was the President of the United States. John Ratcliffe was the Director of National Intelligence. Gina Haspel, Trump's appointee, was the Director of the CIA. So somehow that the CIA or the Director of National Intelligence is covering up the fact that China stole the election makes no sense. Donald Trump was president in 2020.

You appear to be quite different from your predecessors. How are you different?

[Jerome Powell]

So I've known five of my predecessors. I've learned particular lessons from each of them. I can only be my own man. I served before at the Fed for about five and a half years under Chairman Bernanke, and I learned a lot of things then. But you're right. In six weeks, we have caused, I think, a sea change in new thinking, the beginning of a set of reforms that are going to be put in place across at least five dimensions in monetary policy. And it's a broader discussion about reforms that will be forthcoming in everything we do, including supervision and regulation, where there's already been a good start in payments and the rest. We made a lot of progress in six weeks, but I think it's important to use this opportunity wisely. The 63 months of inflation above target has been an unfair burden and has been a tax on the American people and businesses. We plan on getting rid of that tax if that means we need a regime change in policy and we need new consideration of practices, some of which have been working, some of which haven't. That's what we aim to do. And we're just getting started.

Again, just consider for a moment that we understand the president may be threatening to declare sitting United States senators illegitimate. Legitimate, if that is the course of action he pursues. He is calling Georgia voters illegitimate from the very moment Georgia voters rejected him in 2020. He's been on the warpath because he was humiliated by the rebuke that Georgians dealt him. And he was humiliated and furious, in particular, as a committed, lifelong racist, that it was black voters in Georgia who were instrumental in his defeat.

Has the Senate Intelligence Committee seen any information about election interference in the 2020 elections?

It's also another motivation. This is an attempt to undermine faith in elections generally in advance of an election that he is likely to lose one or both houses of Congress. And as Glenn said, I mean, this is really he is just looking in the mirror. He is just talking to himself. This is actually exhibit number, I don't know, 55,299 of Trump's fundamental mental unfitness, moral unfitness to be president. If he actually, you know, if he doesn't believe this and he's just saying this to be manipulative, that's psychopathic. If he actually believes any of this, he's psychotic. He may well be both. And it's just classic Donald Trump. I mean, just lying, lying, lying without regard to the facts, making new things up even if they don't make any sense. And even if they don't connect up to things in the real world and you have to sit here and wonder, so is he saying that the one election where he was president was the one that he lost because there was election interference and he didn't know that in 2020 he was president in charge of the intelligence apparatus of the United States and he didn't know that and he didn't present the evidence then as it was happening.

And we know from the past year, year and a half that the president, through Kash Patel and Cash Patel's former deputy, Dan Bongino, spent a lot of time scouring the records of the FBI for information that would reflect negatively on their predecessors and upon their political adversaries. There's a reporter, a former reporter for the Washington Post named John Solomon, highly regarded investigative reporter for a long time, who is very, very close to the administration, who recently went into the White House as someone to work on task force to under, you know, to uncover, quote, unquote, weaponization against Republicans. I don't know if any of these, any of these variables are going to come together, but there has been an effort inside the Trump administration to access either classified material or preexisting investigative material and pull out some of that in a way that puts Democrats in a bad light. And the person that has been there, their biggest partner on that is Chuck Grassley, the chairman of the Judiciary Committee who has received this pipeline of so called whistleblowers who only seem to release information that is, that is reflects poorly upon Mr. Trump's adversaries.

Walsh, the new head of the Federal Reserve talked about structural changes, I think hopefully, although he's an institutional guy, is about breaking the deep state of the central bank. The financial complex is inextricably linked in with the Central Intelligence and the other intelligence apparatuses that control the U.S. government. You're going to see how much they control it. Tomorrow night you're going to see about evidence they found. And Glenn Thrush right there at the end is not he talks about John Solomon as a top investigative reporter. And I'm not saying that you should only talk off the record or give backgrounds to people that are friendlies, but in something this sensitive, when you have not briefed conservative media, why would that. That is, you know, highly classified. What would possess you. What would possess you to go brief. And they say right there. And has been any pushback by the White House, see the pushback and say it didn't happen and he's lying. Or if you're not, your silence is saying that it's correct and what he's saying is correct. And it was two administrative officials, senior administration officials that were granted anonymity to have these discussions. Who are they? Can we please have the administration tell us who did it?
