Scott Becker (0:00)
This is Scott Becker with the Becker Business and Becker Private Equity Podcast. Today's discussion is four quick rules of life that are worth thinking about. And I'll just go through a few of these very quickly. So the first thing is every time that I'm not in the mood to do something, I have to constantly reframe it to I get to do this versus I have to do it. This again came up yesterday. I was on a plane going to give a talk in Denver. The plane is delayed an hour or two and it just constantly have to reframe and get out of the negative mood, the negative spot to like. I'm so privileged to be asked to go speak that I'm excited to go speak versus I have to do this, that I want to do this, and I'm excited to have the chance to do it. And that's just a constant reframing that you have to do in life around so many different things. Second, there's the concept of no good deed goes unpunished. And I'm always mindful of this as well and thought about this yesterday, you know, said yes to giving a talk I didn't have to give. And then there's so many challenges in doing it and so many challenges of getting there. It's so many different problems and the speech is at a different time than I was originally told by mistake, booked a flight at the wrong time. It just constantly this concept of no good deeds goes unpunished, which is sort of that, that the converse of the first one we talk about. You know, I get to do it first I have to do it. But but no good deed goes unpunished. The third thing is, and this is a story for life and business and everything you do is to be constantly intentional about your energy and your time. My concept is that in the highest level of living, you have purpose. You're busy with purpose and intent. So you're saying yes to the right things, no to the wrong things. You've got clarity about what you're trying to do. And that's this concept of busy with intention and purpose. And if you've got clarity about what you want to do, it's far easy to learn to say no and be intentional about what you're not going to do. So. So again, we're going to frame this as three key rules for for business and life. The PS I'll give here is that we're always looking to feature early stage founders and growth founders on the Becker Business Podcast. The Becker Private Equity Podcast.
