This is Scott Becker with the Becker Business Podcast and the Becker Private Equity Podcast. Today's discussion is the five big stories this week. First, the murder assassination of Charlie Kirk. This is the most high profile political assassination in a long time here in the United States. Second, the increasing softness in the job market. Only 22,000 jobs created in August in increased filings for unemployment. 263,000 new jobless filings this past week. Also the lowest number of open jobs in years. Anecdotally, all of us are no people that are losing jobs. It's a little scary out there. Third, the rise of Oracle. It's on fire and it's propelled Larry Ellison to be neck and neck with Elon Musk is the richest man in the world. I don't think anybody saw that coming. The stock is up nearly 80 80% year to date. Ellison is closing on a net worth of $400 billion. Simply remarkable. Fourth, the release of the Apple iPhone ear in the hope that this creates some excitement at Apple can tip cook get Apple thriving again. Apple remains down about 6% year to date. Finally. Fifth, Tesla and Elon Musk are on a tear again. The stock at Tesla's backed almost even year to date. It's up again today and down 3% year to date. The focus there is on robots and robotaxis.
