This is Scott Becker with the Becker Business and the Becker Private Equity Podcast. Today's discussion is five miscellaneous notes. So the first one is this. I recently finished the most recent book by Dan Sullivan, the founder of Strategic Coach. His books always leave me with at least one great idea, one inspirational thought, one motivational concept. His recent book, the Greater Game. It's excellent. It speaks a lot to trying to find our motivation, that second level of motivation. Deanna's 82 and still at it. I've never met Dan in person, but really amazing. The sort of constant effort to keep on moving forward and so forth. The second note I'll have today is about a book by David Epstein called Inside the Box. In this book again, I think it's just great. It really goes to the spot of how important it is not just have utter creativity but structure and consistency in what you do and how helpful that is in sort of sticking with things and coming up with solutions. That even though there's this idea of broad creativity and lack of structure, at the end of the day most of us really thrive by doing things closer to in the wines and more at it. The third note today I'll talk about something we talked about earlier this week is the 10 minute coffee order. To me, there's almost nothing worse than then the person in line in front of you that sends 10 minutes on the coffee order thinks they are so cool or so cute while the rest of the line behind them is fuming. We see this periodically in our culture and to me I find it utterly despicable. Drives me crazy. It is what it is. I think I'm not alone in this. That's our third note. Our fourth note of the day is a shout out to Maui Gamble, the co author of our latest business book Building Great Businesses. Molly's really spectacular. Great co author, great person, great leader we have gotten and we are so thankful for this Literally very, very nice reviews on the book for people that have made the effort to read it again. We're so thankful to anybody that bought it. We've been more thankful with time being the hottest, toughest commodity in our world for those that made the efforts sit down and read it. We are so thankful for all of you that did so. We're so thankful for Maui's tremendous efforts on this book. The fifth thing I'll note is is a quote that I got this weekend from Cindy Warren and Cindy's a brilliant Stanford educated lawyer who has some executive coaching. She asked you to ask the question is this the place where I want to place my time, energy and attention right now. And I think that question, and you can't answer to every single moment, but I love that question, is this where I want to place my time, energy and attention right now, at the moment I'm spending it recording with Chanel, our magnificent producer. So, yes, this is where I want to place my time, energy, attention right there, this moment. But then, of course, when I'm done with that, I got to figure out the next moment. And that's why this coming back to this idea of structure from Inside the Box by David Epstein, I think is so, so helpful. In any event, thank you for listening to the Becker Business, the Becker Private Equity podcast. We hope you have a wonderful week. Thank you so much for joining us.
