This is Scott Becker with the Becker Private Equity and Business Podcast. Today's discussion is the best CEOs know their own business really well. So here's the issue we see with so many business leaders. So many business leaders are prone to external distraction, doing everything they can to look at the world around them to see what myrated factors could impact them. And I think there's a lot to be said for that, particularly in a dynamic political environment. At the same time, I find almost every leader would benefit from knowing their own business really well. So at the end of the day, when I see the best readers in action, they know who their best customers are, their best people are, their best areas are. And they really apply the 8020 rule is that they really focus a lot of their intention on that 20% of the business. The people, the customers, the service areas that drive 80% of their revenues and profits. The other thing about great business leaders is they are not easily distracted. I know over the time I've watched everything Jamie Dimon has stuck to running his business. He's the CEO of JP Morgan Chase, one of the great CEOs of our time. There's another person I worked with 100 years ago, Bruce St. John. And the greatest compliment I heard from him. And it's not that I'm embracing micromanaging. That's not the point at all. But one of his leaders once said, if a 2x4 drops in San Antonio, Bruce knows it happened before the rest of us do. And he was a really good guy. He wasn't a micromanager. He wasn't somebody that was like watching everybody's every move. But the point is he knew his business extremely well. So today's adage is the best leaders know their businesses very well. Again, thank you for listening to the Becker Private Equity and Business Podcast. Thank you very, very much.
