Do you guys clap back?
Sydney LaRue
I do not clap back. I don't even think you see it anymore. No, I don't really. I don't really clap back a lot because I'm not even really in the comments. I'm so above it. I don't know. I'm busy. Like, I spent two hours power washing the deck today. That's what we're calling it now. That's what we're calling it now. I see it every time. There's like a collab post where it's me and Megan. That's when I really see it. Yeah, your haters come in hard. Hello.
Ally
What?
Megan Rapinoe
Another week, another episode of BFFR with my dear, dear friend Ally and me, Sid.
Ally
Follow BFFR show everywhere on socials and wherever you get your podcasts.
Megan Rapinoe
Keep calling us at 1 833-txt-BFFR, 833-898-2337 period.
Ally
We have such a fun show today. We have our good friends Megan Rapinoe and Sue. Bird of A Touch More and millions of medals and a bird's eye View. Bird's Eye View.
Megan Rapinoe
Somehow doing two podcasts, I have no idea.
Ally
So we have them on. It gets quite unhinged. We owed them for what they did to us on A Touch More a.
Megan Rapinoe
Few weeks back and a few years ago, to be honest.
Ally
And a few years ago to Sid. But before we get into that, we have to discuss the sbs. Not for the reason you think. Yes, the host was maybe not what we are expecting or hoping for, but because my gorgeous co host, Sydney LaRue texts me hours before the event. She's being a bit secretive. She got to stay downtown because we had the US National Team Players association ball the night before. That was a whole nother thing.
Megan Rapinoe
Sid.
Ally
Sid didn't have the perfect dress for either of these events, but she showed up in a beautiful one for the players ball. And then she told me, she said, this is the most beautiful dress I've ever seen. I can't send you a photo. Don't go too early to the ESPYs because it's hot outside and you don't want to be waiting around. See you soon. Last I heard from her. So I am at the red carpet. We were at the end. It was me, Katie Zelum and Alana Kennedy. We barely got our photos taken. It was a mad rush and people are coming. They start closing the gate. They start actually physically rolling up this red carpet. You know who hasn't showed up yet?
Megan Rapinoe
Sydney.
Ally
Laila. What happens? There's not being too Early. And then there's. Missing the entire red carpet.
Megan Rapinoe
I missed two entire red carpets. I have no photos of the SBS or the US Women's National Team players ball. I missed out on the 2015 super cool thing. And everyone was like, where the fuck are you? And I'm like, yes.
Ally
Honored the players 10 year anniversary of the US winning the 2015 Women's World Cup. The players who were present all went on stage. Who wasn't there? Sydney Larue. I'm just. I'm still not actually quite sure what, what happened those days. Like, I know you are sure, but.
Megan Rapinoe
Like, I'm sad because I wanted the. I wanted the red carpet photos because the dresses were bomb. But where were you? I was just in my room and I lost track of time. And then I was like, oh, we'll just leave at this time. And then I didn't even take into account traffic. And then I came there and I was like, oh, they're like, no, no, no, the show's about to start. And I was like, great, so I'm gonna wear that dress next year. Because no one saw it and it was really pretty.
Ally
Was it expensive?
Megan Rapinoe
We don't have to talk about. Right. We don't have to talk about that. It was. I got it from secondhand.
Sydney LaRue
Aha.
Megan Rapinoe
Because remember, we talked about being a sustainable girl.
Ally
You know, I had your location.
Sydney LaRue
Right.
Megan Rapinoe
Okay. So anyways, we had a really good time when I came and then we still wanted to take a picture, but I hadn't eaten because I was so hungry and I was just scarfing this.
Ally
The food was really good at that. Thank you to whoever.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah.
Ally
Got the catering.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah, for sure. Yeah.
Ally
So I didn't see Sid. I'm worried. I'm at the end and they're forcing physically saying, you need to go. The show is starting, you need to go. And I'm looking and I hear our, our PR people. Like, Sydney's still on her way.
Sydney LaRue
Sydney.
Ally
We just got a message from Sydney and they're, they're, they're shutting the gates.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah.
Ally
So I don't even know if she makes it. And then Sid isn't sitting with, like, the Muggles, who are up in the back. She is vip, front row. Which I find out when they start doing the Snapchat filter on people, like between TV segments. And there she is with a. I think it was like, first crying and then like, the man.
Megan Rapinoe
And then I was the man.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah.
Ally
But I was like, you know what? She looks hot and she's here. Didn't see the dress.
Megan Rapinoe
But, yeah, no one saw the dress. You'll see it next year. On time. Will you? Probably not. Probably not. I have a really hard time with, like, time. What is it? Time perception?
Ally
I don't know.
Megan Rapinoe
The understanding of time.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah.
Ally
Being on time.
Megan Rapinoe
Being on time. But I'm working on it, so.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah.
Megan Rapinoe
Bffr. Yeah, sure.
Ally
Just another day in the life I saw you at.
Megan Rapinoe
We did take some photos at the us thing. We did, but it was over, like, 30 minutes after I got there, so it was. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We had.
Ally
So I've actually missed you.
Sydney LaRue
We.
Ally
We really barely saw each other.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah.
Ally
Considering that we went to two. Yeah, we're supposed to go to two events.
Megan Rapinoe
You know, there was a couple people that I saw that I was so excited to see. Buster Rhymes was one of the performers. And we were in, like, the same little section, and so I was like, I fucking loved Pimp My Ride.
Ally
We're very lucky that Sid announces what she's going to do before she does anything, because Sid is going on and on about how much she liked Pimp My Ride. She's explaining the show to our friends.
Megan Rapinoe
Explain the whole thing. Who was next to me as. As Busta Ryan?
Ally
Our young friends, our foreign friends.
Megan Rapinoe
And I'm like, it's just so funny. It was, like, so. It was absolutely chaotic because it would be, like, you know, be, like, a really sad story of, like, someone dying in, like, fire, and then they're like, let's put a flame in the back. You know, it's, like, so unhinged that now it's funny. But at the time, we thought, like, oh, that's, like, super meaningful. But now you're like, okay, that's a little crazy.
Ally
Which, again, is completely irrelevant because Busta Rhymes was not the host.
Sydney LaRue
No.
Ally
Of Pimp My Ride.
Megan Rapinoe
It was exhibit.
Ally
So let's get to our conversation with Megan and Sue.
Megan Rapinoe
This episode is brought to you by PNC Bank.
Ally
A lot of people think that a podcast where soccer players talk about their daily life would be boring.
Megan Rapinoe
And yeah, some of the grind can be boring, but it is our daily rituals and our preparation and. And doing it together that makes the wins even bigger.
Ally
It's like banking with PNC Bank. It might seem boring to plan, save, and make calculated decisions with your bank. Keeping your money boring is what helps you live a more happily fulfilled life.
Megan Rapinoe
PNC bank, Brilliantly boring since 1865 brilliantly.
Ally
Boring since 1865 is a service mark of the PNC Financial Services Group Incorporated. PNC Bank National Association Member, FDIC all.
Megan Rapinoe
Right, before we get into the rest of the show, we need to talk about cachava real quick.
Ally
Oh, my gosh. You know those players who like, play for 90 minutes full sprint, tackling everybody and then after the game, still somehow still have energy. And I don't mean the teenagers. I want what they're having.
Megan Rapinoe
It's not just vibes and talent. It's nutrition. You can't just live off coffee and chaos. Come on.
Ally
Trust me, I've tried. But Kachava is a legit game changer. It's giving full body meal shake and it's 25 grams of plant based protein, but without the chalky aftertaste.
Megan Rapinoe
I hate the chalky so bad. I'm on the matcha kick right now. Frozen banana, a little almond milk. 30 seconds, you're good to go. You know I don't have that kind of time.
Ally
I know you don't, Sid.
Megan Rapinoe
If you're trying to eat better, feel better, and not crash by noon, try one.
Ally
Fuel your game with Kachava. Go to kachava.com and use code BFFR for 15% off. Your next order.
Megan Rapinoe
That's K-A C-H-A-A.com and use code BFFr for 15% off.
Ally
All right, Sid, we have some fellow podcasters on the show today. They. They owed us a favor here since we were on a Touch more a couple weeks back.
Megan Rapinoe
I was also on a touch More a couple years back, so don't think. I don't think I forgot about that.
Ally
Just a casual seven Olympic medals between them, 1 million championships and, oh, presidential medal of freedom. Oh, you don't see those every day.
Megan Rapinoe
Please welcome the legends themselves. Themselves. Themselves? Is that plural? You're right. Okay. Please welcome the legends themselves. Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird.
Sydney LaRue
Hey.
Ally
So we do want to know. We've talked about how it's like working together. We are not in a relationship. How is it like working together on A Touch More for you guys? Who's the ally and who's the Sid?
Sydney LaRue
Well, judging by Sid's intro, I'm a SID.
Megan Rapinoe
100%. I already knew that. I already knew that.
Sydney LaRue
I'm like preparing. I'm ready. I'm doing it. I get into the intro, it's like I've never spoken a word before.
Megan Rapinoe
100 how to read.
Sydney LaRue
Every time and I'm saying something else and I'm. I really. I've learned how to like, speak without moving my mouth. I'm like, it's your turn, go. Is it turned? Say it.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah. Yeah.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah. She's just like, you're not. That's not it. And I'm like, you're right.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah. I'll let you take over.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah.
Megan Rapinoe
That's what I always.
Sydney LaRue
You know. What, on your team.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah, 100%.
Ally
Okay. So, sue, are you finding yourself, you know, keeping things on track? Are you. You remember. Remember the things that we're supposed to talk about? Is either of you ever at risk of being late anytime?
Sydney LaRue
No, that's the. I guess that's the beauty of living together. There's really no late.
Ally
Well, we are at Sid's house, yet I am late.
Sydney LaRue
But you're late. Oh, that's.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah.
Sydney LaRue
You've never done that. No, I'm. I. I have. I still have the athlete thing. Like, I just am, like, early everywhere.
Megan Rapinoe
But don't I ever have this? Yeah. Not sure I ever had that.
Sydney LaRue
No, I don't think you did. It was just. There's always, you know, a couple. You can tolerate a couple people on the team in the group being the late ones. We would just never were. And it was just me being me.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah, it was just.
Ally
It was just Sid, so.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah. Yeah.
Sydney LaRue
You were the one.
Megan Rapinoe
Okay.
Ally
Is anyone the Sid when it comes to clapping back? I know. We all adore you. Do you ever get trolls in the comments? I know, I know. Pino has definitely some trolls out there. Heard that at the ESPYs. We'll get to that later. But, yeah. Do you guys clap back?
Sydney LaRue
I do not clap back. I don't even think you see it anymore. No, I don't really. I don't really clap back a lot because I'm not even really in the comments. I'm like. I'm so above it. No, I definitely, like, sort of hear and see. But then I'm like, I don't know. I'm busy. Like, I spent two hours power washing the deck today. Like, I have.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah. Yes.
Sydney LaRue
That's what we're calling it now. That's what we're calling it now. I. I see it every time we. There's like a. A collab post where it's me and Megan. That's when I really see it. Your haters come in hard right now. Honestly, my haters are just like. They're so basic, too. So I'm just like, really? Guys? We're back here again with like, leave the country. Leave the country and gay. I'm like, I'm a big gay guy.
Megan Rapinoe
You're tired. You're tired. We're all tired. Except I'm not. So if you ever need help with that? You know, she always has time. You know I have time.
Sydney LaRue
I know. I should. I should start doing that.
Ally
Maybe we should be good at it. Clap back just the next off day.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah, I will dive in. Suzy girl, you're also doing Bird's eye View, and I just want to know how the you have time to do two podcasts.
Sydney LaRue
I don't know. It's a real. I really did it this time. I really did it to myself this time. While Megan is power watching and she bought a film camera, she's taking up cooking. She goes on long walks in the park. I'm in deep in wnba, Wikipedia. I am researching. I'm like, where are they from? What's their favorite dessert? Yeah, it's. You know what, though? It's going great. I'm really enjoying it. Good. I have no time.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah, who needs time? Who needs time?
Ally
Well, you're damn good at it. And you also mentioned the W. And we had so much fomo. Tell us about this All Star weekend.
Sydney LaRue
Just Ken, it was so fun. So big. The stud buds absolutely over stole the show, dominated the whole thing. It was like the best piece of content, like, I've seen in a really long time. Like, actually genuinely, like, from a. Like, I don't know, like an authenticity standpoint. They're funny. Everyone loves them. They have the pink hair, obviously impartial. They're just, like, hilarious. The games were great. Everyone watched. Everyone had a great time. It just was like, you know how you get, like, around a women's sports environment? Like, it's just cool. It's fun. It's like, so much less riff raffle. Wait, did you see her on Sub Buds? See Megan on subbuds?
Ally
Tell us. Tell us what you were doing.
Sydney LaRue
Tell the people had to get down to the bottom of one of one moment on their stream. This is a while back. And obviously they're, you know, they're both studs. And Courtney was talking about never getting strapped down and.
Megan Rapinoe
Oh, wow.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah. And she was talking about. And Natisha was like, no. And it was kind of like, no, that's. Come on. That's not possible. I mean, that's not possible. So I had to go right to the source and I had to. I. I was like, never prove it. Yeah. So she. She brings it up. The best part. She brings it up and they're cut. They kind of like, don't remember or. Or can't hear you. It was some, like, weird thing happening where they were, like, looking at her like, what is she talking about what does she mean? And so Megan. They're like, wait, what? So Megan goes to Courtney Williams and whispers it in her ear. But Courtney's mic was like, right here.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah.
Sydney LaRue
So then, you know, it's like normal conversation. And then what's meant to be a whisper is Megan going, the time when you guys were talking about the strap on. Just like super loud.
Megan Rapinoe
Too much. Too much whiskey or.
Sydney LaRue
No, you know, I stay away from the brown liquor.
Megan Rapinoe
Oh, but okay, that's news to me.
Ally
But there was a lot of clear stuff.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah, clear stuff. Totally fine. Doesn't affect me at all.
Megan Rapinoe
You were good. You were good.
Ally
So do you, Pino, do you think we will ever be able to have an NWSL all Star weekend that could even hold a candle to this?
Sydney LaRue
You guys, finals weekend is not too far away. Yeah. I think it's the final that we'll start. Game for soccer champions. I know MLS does it, but I'm like. I don't know. It's like a soccer all star game is just hard to pull off.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah. Especially because it's like all U18.
Ally
So there'd be no drinking.
Sydney LaRue
There's no drinking allowed. There's gonna be one party. 20 people there. Those are the only 20 people. Yeah.
Ally
And Shirley Temples on the Shirley Temples.
Megan Rapinoe
And you know what? What we've been doing with. What I've been doing with the kids is the apple cider. Oh, the sparkling apple cider.
Sydney LaRue
The sparkles. That's right. The Martinelli's.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah. There you go. Yes. Very festive.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah. I think it's NWL final, though. I think that like going last year. You can just feel it getting bigger every year. Obviously the W has like, you know, 15 years or. Or longer on 30. Yeah, 30 years on the NWSL. But like just having the. The one gathering place. And I think the final is the place to do it. So you can break brands, can activate people, can have parties. You can do different stuff. Like you can have an award show, whatever it may be. Like you guys can host it. Hello. Putting it out in the atmosphere. Get the BFFRs on there. I actually think it's even the championship's even better because then the game actually matters.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah.
Sydney LaRue
So it's like you're going to. True.
Megan Rapinoe
That's fair.
Sydney LaRue
Super Bowl.
Ally
We definitely need to dial it up.
Megan Rapinoe
Though, because last year, needing to dial up the end itself. For how long, Pete? The 13 years. Yeah, we go.
Ally
Lucas, Kelly O' Hare and I were the only ones on the dance floor last year.
Megan Rapinoe
Was I there last year?
Ally
No.
Megan Rapinoe
Oh.
Ally
And where was it last year? And it was in Kansas City.
Megan Rapinoe
Oh, I thought about going.
Ally
Yeah, Kelly was doing the Worm in a mini skirt, so that was exciting. But, yeah, it was. It was just a little bit. It died down a little bit at the end.
Sydney LaRue
So, yeah, we need the group chat to get going. We're going to be doing a live show there. I know Sam. And the women's game podcast is doing Watch for Kelly is like, you guys gotta be there.
Megan Rapinoe
Well, you know, we might be in the finals. We might be in the final.
Ally
Yeah, we're gonna be in the finals.
Megan Rapinoe
We're gonna be in the finals.
Sydney LaRue
So unless you're in the finals. Yeah, that's an automatic disclaimer.
Ally
And we'll invite the stud buds.
Megan Rapinoe
You know, why not? Yeah, yeah, that's a good time. Okay. Well, P. I have actually. Sue, I don't know if you know this, but.
Ally
You should know. You need to know.
Megan Rapinoe
You need to know this, but Megan. Sweet, sweet, sweet Megan was my first roommate on the national team.
Sydney LaRue
Okay. Yeah.
Ally
The story does not end there.
Megan Rapinoe
Look at her. Look at her. You know that. The story doesn't end there.
Sydney LaRue
What'd you do?
Megan Rapinoe
Okay, first of all, weird park story. I'm like, I was always just. I was pretty chill.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah.
Megan Rapinoe
Until I heard because I had to wait to take a shower. Of course, I'm a rookie. I'm not taking the shower first. And I'm like, she's in the shower. And I'm like, I didn't see another fucking Sonicare, another face washer in there. And I'm thinking to myself, this is using my face scrubber to get the dead skin cells off my face. And I'm not gonna say anything because this is Megan Rapinoe. So I. You know what? I'm just.
Ally
Why did you think her skin looked so good? Always borrowing face scrubbers.
Megan Rapinoe
Borrowing my sonic hair. I obviously ordered another one to the hotel because I'm like, you can't actually get your. On my ship. But that's how we became friends. We became fast friends.
Sydney LaRue
We were locked in. Locked in. Day one version of this. These are a sign. No, there's no other. An accurate story.
Megan Rapinoe
Yes, this is. This is exactly how it happened.
Sydney LaRue
I have not. Yeah, she's got nothing. I got nothing. Honestly. You were like, did you use my face thing? And I was like, yeah, yeah, it's amazing.
Megan Rapinoe
So.
Sydney LaRue
And you're like, well, you can have that one because I ordered another. Thank you. Thank you.
Megan Rapinoe
Wow. Yeah. After that, we were locked in. We were locked in after that. Yeah, I know. I heard the whole minute situation. And when it goes. And you need to switch to another part of your face, to the cheek. I already knew that was happening. Yeah, yeah.
Sydney LaRue
Three, two, one. She's on the.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah, yeah. Thought she would leave it on the forehead. No, she went the whole face. It's fine. But that's why you look so good.
Ally
Besides sharing face scrubbers, do you remember anything about Sid? Her first camp? What other stories do you have?
Sydney LaRue
You go.
Ally
You go way back.
Megan Rapinoe
We go way back.
Sydney LaRue
This is when. When you were being a vegetarian or vegan or whatever.
Megan Rapinoe
Oh, yeah.
Ally
What?
Megan Rapinoe
I was a vegetarian for five years. I don't know if anyone knows that. Pete, tell the story.
Sydney LaRue
It was like in this order. Things that you would like, even eat, like red onions, which have like almost no nutritional value.
Megan Rapinoe
All the nutritional value you need.
Sydney LaRue
Love them. Pasta. I was waiting for the pasta.
Megan Rapinoe
You're missing out on a huge one. Asparagus.
Sydney LaRue
And asparagus. That's right. And asparagus. Yeah, yeah, that's like it. So that was nuts. I think you, like went to the mall and bought like seven pairs of seven jeans or True Religion jeans or something.
Megan Rapinoe
Like, when I like one pair, I need to get them in all of the colors same, you know, that's me.
Sydney LaRue
I have this T shirt and four colors. Yeah, exactly.
Megan Rapinoe
If you like something, you like something.
Sydney LaRue
And then like, it was just banter. I was just like. I'm like, oh, she's funny. That's. This is a lover. I'm like, she's got. Boy, she's doing a bunch of wild shit, but she's got a bunch of doodads everywhere. And I'm gonna use them. You're using them and I'm using them. And I'm like, this is great. I love this girl. She's wild and she's like. She scores all these goals. This great double thumbs up.
Megan Rapinoe
I think one of my favorite stories, and I think this is something we've never talked about before, like on anything, is the three hop test. Yeah, the three hop knee test that we would do before every game said, okay, see how the knee is? Let's see how the knee is.
Sydney LaRue
If you can hop three times in a row on your knee, you're fine.
Megan Rapinoe
You're ready.
Ally
That's about all I can do.
Megan Rapinoe
We discovered that you're. You're gonna be fine.
Sydney LaRue
You fine. You'll be like, oh, I think I. My knee. Up on your knees. Oh, my ankle. No, no, no. Like. Like, it's just like A bound? Yeah. Show it like a single leg jump. Boom, boom, boom. Why is it called the knee hop?
Megan Rapinoe
You're good because you're just hopping and you're seeing if your knee is. Is stable.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah, it's a me. So it's just the hop to check your knee hop.
Megan Rapinoe
Ronaldo did it first, and then I brought it on to me and Pino's team, and I said, just do the.
Ally
Three hop test and look at her career.
Megan Rapinoe
Exactly. It's all thanks to you. You're welcome, P.
Sydney LaRue
The science speaks for itself.
Ally
Sue, I want to hear about the statue. Tell us about this statue. Do you get a sneak peek? I always think about when they punked David Beckham with the.
Megan Rapinoe
To be honest, I think every statue is a little, like.
Ally
Right. Well, that's why I want to. There's been some better ones in recent times, but first, congratulations.
Sydney LaRue
But thank you. Thank you. I have seen it. I was a part of the process.
Megan Rapinoe
Okay. Thank God.
Ally
That was a demand. Non negotiable.
Sydney LaRue
But I've only. I've only seen the clay version. So they have to, like. They make it clay first. It's like the big whole thing, and then they bronze it. So I haven't seen the bronze version.
Ally
There's still some margin for error.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah. The bronze part is the hardest part.
Sydney LaRue
I heard, but they make me look like snow ripped. I don't care.
Ally
You are. You are.
Megan Rapinoe
Okay.
Sydney LaRue
This is. This is on another level. No, I don't take it. It looks good. The best part is I got to.
Megan Rapinoe
I trust you. I trust you.
Ally
What's. What's the pose?
Sydney LaRue
It's just like a layup.
Megan Rapinoe
Oh, okay.
Sydney LaRue
One of these. Yep. So there's a lot of that. Yeah, yeah.
Megan Rapinoe
Oh, remember, P, we used to do this to show our leg muscle.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah. You guys see what's up with the legs?
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah, yeah, yeah. 100.
Sydney LaRue
I was doing that yesterday. She was like 10 times in a row. I was watching the Euros being like, I still got it. 100.
Megan Rapinoe
Also, can we talk about the PKS?
Sydney LaRue
It's been wild. It's been giving me helps. It's been so good. Yeah. I love it.
Ally
Will you be locked in on Sunday?
Sydney LaRue
We're going. Going. We're going.
Ally
Make sure you show off the.
Megan Rapinoe
Of course you are.
Ally
Show them. Show them in live.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah. Where I need you to wear short shorts. A couple of these on the sideline. Okay. Okay.
Sydney LaRue
I'm gonna. I'm gonna oil my leg up and get it ready.
Megan Rapinoe
Perfect.
Sydney LaRue
Oh, yeah. Tag us. Wait. As soccer players, are you guys Just freaking out watching pks, or there's more of like a. I've been there. Calm to it.
Ally
Hate them. No, it's awful screaming either.
Sydney LaRue
I just want to make sure.
Ally
It's terrible.
Sydney LaRue
Okay.
Megan Rapinoe
I'm like, I've ever taken a pk, ever since I knocked us out of PKS against Nigeria for the U20s.
Ally
Really?
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah. But I take them in practice 15 years ago, many, many moons ago. It's. It's. It's tough.
Ally
Oh, yeah. I. With New Zealand. We went through the whole 11. Oh, no, it was Cypress Cup. So it was kind of. It ended in a tie, and you go straight to penalties. And it went through everyone, and there was, like, a few of us left, and it was like, one of you guys has to do it. I was like, fine. I shot it. I shot it with all I had. It bounced twice.
Megan Rapinoe
Oh.
Ally
And we were playing France, and it was like, we could beat France. It bounced twice. She just scooped it up and we lost. So I also have not since then.
Sydney LaRue
So can I tell a PK story? Yeah. I was in probably, like, eighth or ninth grade. I was a midfielder, point guard. Zero surprise, obviously. And. But I was, like, athletic on my team. The most athletic. And so we were playing in wags. This is, like, a big to do. Everybody knows wags, right? I'm like, yes, dc. Oh, you're Canadian.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah, I'm Canadian.
Ally
I don't know.
Sydney LaRue
So, anyways, it's a big tournament, and so we go to PKs, and my coach is like, hey, we're gonna put you in goal. And I was like, okay. I had no idea what I was doing. I did save one, but we lost, and I never played soccer again.
Megan Rapinoe
It is. It's traumatizing. People think that, like, PKS are so easy. They're not.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah, they're hard.
Megan Rapinoe
I mean, limited. We all know this. We all know this. It's the worst because at any given time, anyone can win. Like, even if you had 42 shots to zero and somehow you tied, the other team will win.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah. You just never want to get there. You don't want to put it down, too. Like, especially at the end. Like, the us, like, we were good at them. I would take us every time, but I would, like, never want to be there.
Megan Rapinoe
You don't ever want to be there. You don't ever want to be there. It's a free for all. Yeah.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah.
Megan Rapinoe
And it, like, speaks nothing about what happened in the actual game. That's why I think that instead of PKs, we should be like, you Know what? Take a player off.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah, take a player off.
Megan Rapinoe
10V10.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah.
Ally
Take a player off to the death.
Megan Rapinoe
9V9. Until it's 1v1, the game's not called.
Ally
I'd be good at the 1v1 part, but the coverage around the Euros has been great. You just feel the excitement and a lot of, I think the, the punditry. I mean, even seeing the scenes yesterday when England won with Ian Wright and all these things posted, it's so awesome. And I'm not sure that was a pk, but.
Megan Rapinoe
Oh, we move on.
Ally
We. We've been around a while and I. I just wanted to hear from you, like, how it feels you're going to the final, Seeing the coverage and the excitement with the All Star Game, with the Euros. How different is it? How exciting is it? Give people some perspective from where we've been to where we are now.
Sydney LaRue
To be honest, it's like, so emotional and so amazing. And there's also a part of me that's like, I'm so mad.
Megan Rapinoe
We're all a little bitter, for sure.
Sydney LaRue
It's all like. It's like jealousy, which is a normal emotion, but it's like, I just. I just would have loved to, like, be in this era. Yeah, it's just incredible. I was thinking when we got back here after, you know, the All Star Game and the Euros are going on and it's incredible. And just every time any, you know, women's sports event happens, it breaks every record, whatever. And it's always like, yeah, we're here, we're up, or whatever. And it's like, we did it. Like, we took it, we won it, we're doing it. Like it's it. Now we're in the era where it's just, like, gonna get really, like, what it deserves in terms of funding and investment and like, all the money necessary because, like, the fans are already there. The fandom is already there. All of us have been doing it for 100 years. The fans have been doing it for 100 years. And it's just like, so incredible to see it given the platform it has always deserved. Like, I felt like being at WNBA All Star, it was like the platform was finally built big enough.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah.
Sydney LaRue
To, like, house the players in their full selves. And obviously it's like growing, like, whether it was just like the stud buds or all the shows or the. Or the, you know, the three point whatever it was. And I feel the same way about the Euros. Like, the games have basically, like, all been sold out. The product on the field has been absolutely, like, unbelievable. And so it's just really, honestly, validating. Validating is one way to say it. I'm petty, so I'm going to be like, I fucking told you so. We told you so. We told you so. We told you so. But it's, like, it's so validating, and I just am, like, so happy for all of these players that are getting to be in this era and play in this era and, like, for all of us that just have dedicated our lives to it and, like, our creativity, even what you guys are doing, what we're doing off the field, what so many of us are doing, like, we love it here, and it's, like, finally able to give us the platform to really, like, house us all in our full selves. And so it's just incredible to see a really special time. Yeah, I mean, same. I think I used to joke, like, five, 10 years ago because I was, as a player, a part in CVA negotiations, even though now I'm on the other side, so, you know, we can't talk.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah. We're not. We're not allowed to ask Susie any questions.
Sydney LaRue
I see. But I remember, Yeah, I remember, like, legit saying, like, a lot of what Megan just said. Like, believe us, we're trying to tell you something like, this needs to grow. We just need this. We just need that. So, yeah, there is a lot of, like, I told you so, but in those CBA negotiations, I remember I would say things like, you know, I just hope that in five, 10 years, I'm like that older player who they interview, and I'm like, well, I wasn't making a million dollars back when I played. I'm like, that petty, like, fucking mad older player. Like, I didn't get to charter planes. And I was. I was kind of kidding because I was kind of just trying to make the point that I hope all of this work leads to a place where the players do get paid their worth and all the good things. And, you know, I just didn't expect it to happen this fast.
Ally
Yeah.
Sydney LaRue
So here we are. We're all that petty, older player, but it's also, like, so incredible, and it makes me feel so proud. Of course I would love to be playing in it, but this is just it. This is when Nancy Bird and Herschel bird met was 1980. You know, it wasn't 1985 or 1990 or so on. So it is what it is, and it's so great to still be a part of it in ways and get to experience it ways. And I think ultimately it's a big, fat I told you so. And that's the best part.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah, for sure. P. I have a question for you. We talked about this last episode, but I want to know how important college was to you guys.
Sydney LaRue
Oh, interesting. I mean, for me, really important. I played, I think, just to, like, to grow and, like, become who I was and get out of a. A small town and see, like, a different part of the world and a different way of being. My team was amazing. I feel like we're really successful. Successful. I feel like I, like, grew into myself as a player there, and it was, like, the best place at that time.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah, Portland was really successful until UCLA came to town. Yeah. As a freshman.
Ally
And Stanford as a freshman.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah, as a freshman. Yeah. Because the national championship that I have was nasty.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah, I think that was. That was before my time.
Sydney LaRue
That was before. That was before your time. That was before your time. But, yeah, it was. It was important because it was like, gave me the, like, place to, like, not be the best player. Obviously, when you're in high school, when you're on your club team, you are. And then I. Clara was like, our forward, and I was like, well, that's what grade is. Like, that's the. That's the level now. Yeah. Super important for me. I mean, I don't know if you're talking about basketball, but.
Megan Rapinoe
No, I'm talking about, like, across the board. We talked about this last week, and I would never give up my college experience for anything.
Sydney LaRue
I love absolutely not everything from, like, a person, a player, the growth. It's like the foundation is set.
Megan Rapinoe
Yes. And like Pino said, and I said last week, like, you're allowed to make mistakes when you get here. The mistakes aren't as, like, tolerable, forgiving now. They're not forgiving.
Sydney LaRue
It kind of like, teaches training wheels, teaches you how to be an adult and have to, like, set your alarm and get your food and, like, you know. You know, show up and you can make mistakes and you can have fun and. And it's like a little bit of a precursor into, you know, I'm assuming you're talking a little bit about college system and young players now. And it's like, it's hard for these young players to just come in and be a professional where you have to show up and take care of your body and not make mistakes. And know the scouting report and know that, like. And it's. It's like, if you don't perform, you don't play. That's the game. So then it's like, how do you develop when you're not really good enough or mature enough to play quite yet? And, like, what's the. What's the kind of in between?
Ally
Well, this is a perfect time to go into start, bench, cut.
Megan Rapinoe
You did this to us.
Sydney LaRue
So, yeah, usually we don't get it back.
Ally
So we promised you you were going to get it back, and we're going to up the ante a little bit.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah, but we'll.
Ally
We'll start super easy.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah, we'll. We'll start super easy.
Ally
Take it away.
Megan Rapinoe
Say we're gonna start. Sweet. All right. P. In their prime. Mia, Ham, Abby Wambach, or Marta. Yeah, this is easy for us.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah, this is the enum.
Megan Rapinoe
This is so interest.
Sydney LaRue
Man. It's gonna be tough. Based on this picture or based on all time?
Megan Rapinoe
Prime.
Sydney LaRue
Based on picture. Marta is starting. Martha is a little time.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah, that's what. That's our qu. That's our answer as well. That was easy for.
Sydney LaRue
Usually. Usually I would say winning has a huge weight in, like, who's great and who's not, but I think Marta is just outside of that category. Like, she's so good that she's like, whatever. It doesn't matter if she's one or not. And it's like, I'm so happy she won last year.
Ally
I feel like you're stalling.
Sydney LaRue
I am gonna.
Ally
She's stalling.
Sydney LaRue
I'm gonna fence Mia, and I'm gonna cut Abby. I think while Abby was totally dominant, I think Mia was better all around. Can I go? Yeah, because I'm going straight. America. March is out. March is out.
Megan Rapinoe
I'm doing the same.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah. And then I was starting Mia.
Megan Rapinoe
What?
Sydney LaRue
And I'm benching. Wow. That was better. That was a better. I'm supposed to start out.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah. You're a basketball. You're a basketball, though, Susie.
Sydney LaRue
I grew up with the mini hand. You know, Abby's like, my age. Can I change?
Megan Rapinoe
That's so did. No, I. I'm going with Pinot's answer. What are you going with?
Sydney LaRue
No.
Ally
There's a reason why I'm asking them. I'm not going.
Megan Rapinoe
Okay. She doesn't want to make. She doesn't want to make enemies.
Ally
I already had to answer about Sophia, Trin, and Mao. Like, okay, it's my turn now. Okay, now. Now the most important one here. Okay. Now we can p. Okay, what are we rated?
Megan Rapinoe
Sue's style.
Ally
Which one are you cutting?
Sydney LaRue
Why am I leaning?
Megan Rapinoe
Which one are you bringing Home.
Sydney LaRue
Honestly, guys, it might be the middle one because the. The one all the way on the left with the. With the gray.
Ally
With the knee pads.
Megan Rapinoe
With the knee pads. You never know. You never know what's like gonna go down. So when you might need them that time with the knee pads coming in.
Sydney LaRue
Appreciate it. No, I think I'm bringing home. That's a. That's an animal print skirt. Like spice outfits are from. No, the two on the. Not the. The knee pad joint. The other two are definitely Banana Republic's finest.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah, absolutely.
Sydney LaRue
We love a Banana Republic. It's a banana moment.
Megan Rapinoe
What was. What was on the left?
Sydney LaRue
I had a stylist, believe it or not.
Megan Rapinoe
Wow, Was she fired?
Sydney LaRue
Yeah. I already did a really tough bench start cut, not naming names.
Megan Rapinoe
Okay.
Ally
We didn't tell you, though, that there is like a fourth. A little wild card here at the bottom in case. In case you want to maybe wait until the end of the night and see who you could take home, like, after dark. Do you want to see what's behind door number four?
Sydney LaRue
I've googled myself so much I don't like. I'm not going to be surprised by this.
Megan Rapinoe
Okay, Okay.
Ally
I mean.
Sydney LaRue
Oh, what do you mean?
Ally
London.
Sydney LaRue
Sue, where are you on London Patriotic.
Ally
She looks fun.
Megan Rapinoe
I know she's having very patriotic.
Sydney LaRue
She's a good 10, that middle one. She's like, hey, look, this. This something made you do before the Olympics. What's.
Ally
What's on the bottom?
Sydney LaRue
Nothing.
Megan Rapinoe
Oh, when you like nothing.
Ally
See, you don't know.
Sydney LaRue
You don't know.
Ally
You don't know.
Megan Rapinoe
That's the best part.
Sydney LaRue
Hopefully not knee pads, you know. Oh, that's amazing. Those are good ones. Those are good ones.
Ally
Okay, sue, your turn.
Sydney LaRue
I know exactly where I was on all of these pictures. Okay.
Megan Rapinoe
I love the. I love the first. First row middle. It's my favorite.
Ally
Yeah, that one's zebra because she's a pendant.
Megan Rapinoe
She's like.
Ally
She's like. I could. I could take you on right now.
Megan Rapinoe
I'm really good. But you just, like, may not know it from this picture.
Sydney LaRue
Logo's up.
Megan Rapinoe
But I'm really good.
Sydney LaRue
You notice. Gotta put those logos in the front.
Megan Rapinoe
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Ally
Turn the ball. Okay, let's see these looks and which your favorite was?
Sydney LaRue
Oh, you guys went. Thanks, guys. Timeless.
Megan Rapinoe
Easy for me.
Ally
She's timeless.
Sydney LaRue
You lobbed it in on this one. I seen zero embarrassment. The middle is out.
Megan Rapinoe
Middle's out. For me. It's the side chop with no fade that I was just confused a little bit about. Here, but still love the color.
Sydney LaRue
I think our left, which is. She's got the necklace with the sunglasses. I would start this look 100%.
Megan Rapinoe
Me too.
Sydney LaRue
Okay. And then the other one best. We're good. You do you like. I like the purple. Yeah.
Megan Rapinoe
P. What do you feel about these? What would you go back to and what would you say? You're not coming back?
Sydney LaRue
Well, the middle one obviously was bad luck, so.
Ally
I told you that.
Megan Rapinoe
I told you that.
Sydney LaRue
Speaking of putting all your might into your penalty, mine did not bounce twice. Maybe outside the stadium. So we're gonna. We're gonna have to bench that bluey. Bluey of a shave. I'm not really sure what was going on there. I just. It was. I'm not really sure. Gosh, I really like them. I'm gonna go. I don't know. I like them both. You know, I feel like the. The original was pink. That was the splat. Hair dye from Walmart. That was like the OG chaos. Like, I'm gonna do my own hair in my own hotel room. So I'm going pink and then I'm benching. Benching purple, girl.
Megan Rapinoe
I love purple.
Sydney LaRue
I love purple too.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah, I do purple. It was like, you know what? I'm not. I'm not trying, but I'm her. I'm her, you know, I'm not doing too much, but I'm here and you're gonna know I'm here.
Sydney LaRue
That's right.
Ally
Okay, well, you guys are booked and busy, so we have one final bring it home that Sid said this is a must do to end this segment of the show.
Megan Rapinoe
I'm not sure if you two girlies remember that I had to do fuck, marry, kill. Do you remember that?
Sydney LaRue
I think we had to change it.
Megan Rapinoe
No, no.
Ally
Well, we're not changing it.
Megan Rapinoe
We're not changing it. Okay. We're not changing it. Okay.
Ally
This one's for up.
Megan Rapinoe
This one's for up. Mary Kill. Laura Harvey, I love you. I'm so. I'm so sorry you're a part of this. Jill Ellis, Laura Harvey and Pia Sunaga.
Sydney LaRue
I just saw beyond TV today. Same.
Megan Rapinoe
I'm like the same. She's the same.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah.
Sydney LaRue
How. Talk about, like, stalling. Yeah, she's like not aging at all, but, like, you know why?
Megan Rapinoe
She has no stress. No stress.
Sydney LaRue
Laura. Laura is my wife. Laura. We're good. I'm moving to West Seattle. Cuz you like that view with the whales? We're good. I'm gonna kill Jill.
Megan Rapinoe
Y. I think both of us, unfortunately, but not unfortunately.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah, no, we're not. Because I'm not her.
Megan Rapinoe
You know, could we.
Sydney LaRue
So I'm going to pia. I mean, it feels a little same. Same on the energy, but, you know, we can make it work for one time.
Megan Rapinoe
We can make it work.
Sydney LaRue
Oh, I think then I get to go home to Laura and tell her all about.
Megan Rapinoe
I just remember when I was the youngest player, like, when I was the last player to be told by Pia that I was going to the Olympics. I don't know if I ever told you this, but I was, like, starting to, like, get emotional, and she goes, stop crying. And I was like, yeah, yeah, all good. You're right. You're right. Nothing to cry about here, you know, Just a little girl from Surrey, Canada, who. Who made this entire trek to the usa. You're right.
Sydney LaRue
No, stop crying.
Megan Rapinoe
There's nothing to cry about. So. You're right.
Sydney LaRue
You're right.
Megan Rapinoe
I'm wrong. I did love Pia, though.
Sydney LaRue
I love.
Megan Rapinoe
I love p. I loved Pia. I loved Laura. We had the best time. Yeah, she was a hoot. The. The singing with the guitar.
Sydney LaRue
My favorite part about Pia was her belt buckle had a bottle opener on it. And I was like, genius. That's genius. Yeah. I'm like, we loved her. Can you open?
Megan Rapinoe
She loved a beer, too. She loved a beer.
Sydney LaRue
Oh, she loved a beer. She literally loved a beer.
Megan Rapinoe
She was the best.
Sydney LaRue
Cracking it opened right there.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah. Great. We love you, Laura. We love you, Bia.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah, we love you the most. Oh, the best. Oh, my gosh.
Megan Rapinoe
Good times.
Ally
What a perfect way to end this part of bffr.
Sydney LaRue
That was the most brutal version of Bench. Start cutting. I love it ever.
Megan Rapinoe
No.
Sydney LaRue
You guys.
Megan Rapinoe
Me bench or you guys gave me, like, fuck, marry, kill. Jill Ellis and Mark.
Sydney LaRue
It was during the pandemic. The rules were different.
Megan Rapinoe
Was it? I remember clearly. I was still going through trauma at that time.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah.
Megan Rapinoe
Who's Mark Danner Skinner. Who is the other one? Who is the other one?
Sydney LaRue
Hard at me. She did it.
Megan Rapinoe
There might have been two Jills.
Sydney LaRue
Who knows?
Megan Rapinoe
There might have been. We'll. We'll have to bring that one up.
Ally
Okay, everyone go and listen to A Touch more and Bird's eye view. Please don't make all of Sue's work be in vain because she's hustling out there.
Megan Rapinoe
100.
Ally
You should be relaxing, but I know.
Megan Rapinoe
You should definitely be relaxing.
Ally
Thank you for everything. You do have fun at the final. Show off your legs, get oiled up.
Megan Rapinoe
I'll. I'll give you the best cream that I have. That you would steal from me. So. Yeah, don't worry about that.
Sydney LaRue
Send it.
Ally
See you soon. Thanks for b effing effing r with us. Bfr.
Megan Rapinoe
For real bffing with us. Be for realing with us.
Sydney LaRue
We'll be for realing with you anytime.
Megan Rapinoe
Hello. Huge thanks to Pino and Sue. We could have talked for hours per usual with every one we have here. But we need to keep it short. So now we're going on to my favorite time.
Ally
Happy hour at bar bffr. Grab a drink, take a load off, get a snack, and let's get into it because. Whoa.
Megan Rapinoe
We are going to get into it. Whoa. Okay.
Ally
Funny that we talked about work wives and work husbands and Sid was obviously very against it. And now I think we know for good reason. Because what I tell you, Chris Martin just accidentally revealed the messiest affair wife work husband combo.
Megan Rapinoe
And I warned you guys about this. I warned you. That's why when you're. When you're the real wife or you're the real husband. No, I'm the work husband and the work wife. Sid's coming to work, cuz I'm coming to work. Coldplay. I'll be there.
Ally
But like, this is everywhere. Like, this is to the point where even people who don't have social media, like, someone has somehow shared it with them because. Okay, if you live under a rock.
Megan Rapinoe
Okay. Which you don't.
Ally
This might be for my mom, but Coldplay. It must have been between songs. They have like the.
Megan Rapinoe
The showing. Everyone just like.
Ally
Yeah, there was a couple people in like banana costumes. Like they're just showing the crowd.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah.
Ally
And happened to catch this beaut.
Megan Rapinoe
What we. What you would think is this beautiful moment. Just this moment.
Ally
His hands are kind of like on.
Megan Rapinoe
Her boobs and shoes. Smiling. Smiling.
Ally
And then when they realize they're on the Jumbotron.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah. They see themselves spooked.
Ally
Like he. They duck down. The friend is cracking up, and he basically throws her.
Megan Rapinoe
Yes.
Ally
And they disappear. And so Chris Martin says, oh, they're either either really shy or having an affair. Turns out these. This is a really public figure. This is the CEO of Astronomer and his head of hr. Ironic. And they were. They were.
Megan Rapinoe
What am I gonna say?
Ally
They're having an affair and it got caught publicly.
Megan Rapinoe
I do feel awful for the actual wife who's staying at home with his three children. And like, let me just. You know, I. I'm not biased or anything, but take him for all he has. Take him for all he asks. Because he embarrassed you. And what he did in Public thinking that he could go and take little HR to a huge concert while you're at home. No. Bye. I'm very proud of you. Do it.
Ally
I can't get over the woman who was with them. I think she also works there.
Megan Rapinoe
But she also get fired because she was crying. I think she was crying on something. Like. But I'm like, girl, you thought it was the best time of your life.
Ally
Well, I just. Yeah, I can't.
Megan Rapinoe
But is it her business?
Ally
That's what I don't know. Like, has she had dinner with the CEO and his wife? Like, does she like. I don't know. A lot of people's lives really got put on blast.
Megan Rapinoe
Crazy. Because I'd be like, Mrs. Yeah. I just want to tell you that your husband is here. Here at the Coldplay concert. If you could show up like anywhere between the next 30 minutes, that would be great. Thank you.
Ally
You're a girl's girl.
Megan Rapinoe
I'm a girl's girl through and through.
Ally
What would you do if I was the. That's what I don't know. Who is this woman? Was she friends with the wife? Like, I don't. This situation and also the fact that we know so much about it because of the Internet be also because they reacted that way. If he had just kind of laughed.
Megan Rapinoe
No one would have thought.
Ally
If he put his arm around the other woman too and they just.
Megan Rapinoe
Whatever.
Ally
Never, never, never would have.
Megan Rapinoe
Hey, no, no. They were cuddled up.
Ally
Never would have gone viral.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah.
Ally
Do you think they left right away or did they, like stay for the.
Megan Rapinoe
Rest of the country? They left. They were like embarrassing themselves.
Ally
Calling legal.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah.
Ally
They're like, Uber.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah.
Megan Rapinoe
Uber X.
Ally
Please pick us up. Have you seen.
Megan Rapinoe
We're in trouble.
Ally
Have you seen. Now that they are reenacting.
Megan Rapinoe
Okay. Everywhere. Everywhere. They're reenacting.
Ally
It is a really funny. Now instead of just the kiss cam Jumbo. It's like the Coldplay Hidden Affair Jumbotron.
Sydney LaRue
I know.
Megan Rapinoe
And they're going around full blown family. That's the only thing. I'm like, girl.
Ally
They'Ve done it in the mls. They're doing like it is now.
Megan Rapinoe
It's everywhere.
Ally
It's every reenactment.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah, yeah.
Ally
That now has gone viral.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah.
Ally
The Internet is wild. It's a wild place. People are on her Facebook account.
Megan Rapinoe
She deleted everything, which I'm like, I would girl pop out because she was hot.
Ally
She's really hot.
Megan Rapinoe
She is so hot. And this is what reminds me. Always be weary of your surroundings. Okay. You can be successful Hot. Do all the things. But some little HR girl, some little work wife could be clocking. Clocking your stuff. Just want you to be aware.
Sydney LaRue
Ah.
Ally
Is Coldplay, like, the worst concert this could have happened at?
Megan Rapinoe
Like, what would be. Like, it was all yellow. Like, it's like a really. Like, it's a moment. It's a moment. There's so many songs that you're like, wow, wow, wow. I really feel this in my soul. And then you're doing that.
Ally
Yeah. I don't. I don't think I'll ever kind of be able to listen to Coldplay in the same way.
Megan Rapinoe
You know, I've been. The only thing that's funny to me is that, like, there's been so many, like, memes and videos about, like, you know, my husband doesn't pick up his shit from the ground, but I know he's not at a Coldplay concert. I'm like, okay, that's fun. That's funny. That's funny.
Ally
This is with AI and there was, like, an apology letter that I guess was fake. Like, I just.
Megan Rapinoe
I can't see that.
Sydney LaRue
I can't. No.
Ally
But I don't think he.
Megan Rapinoe
Any apology that's sent out in the universe. Chat GPT.
Ally
I think some random person made this up and it went viral as being from him, but it wasn't. But just, like, you can't trust anyone.
Megan Rapinoe
Can we trust?
Ally
Exactly. To me, it's definitely not men.
Megan Rapinoe
To me, it's from him.
Ally
You're like, that tracks the tracks.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah, but I mean, I'm like, both of you should be embarrassed. First of all, I'm going after the man. And then second of all, I'm like, you are definitely not a girl's girl, and you are actually disgusting, and you should be ashamed of yourself. But more importantly, the man who's actually married with the kids, what I can tell the woman is glow up and be more successful than him. That's the best way to do it. You heard it here first, so that.
Ally
Was quite the BFFR moment with Coldplay. I. I'm not even actually sure how. How to categorize that, but that does mean it's time to hear from you. We got amazing messages and voicemails. This is the BFFR we wanted to.
Megan Rapinoe
Hear from you for.
Ally
And, man, people get way too serious when it comes to children's sports. It's time for Last Call.
Sue Bird
Hi, Sydney and Allie. This is Carlisle. I'm with Mosaic. I think you guys know me.
Megan Rapinoe
Of course we do.
Sue Bird
Describe one of the soccer brawls that I experienced with my daughter's team. The game was, you know, it was intense. Some girls had been talking, you know, smack to each other, and then all of a sudden, one girl pulls the other girl's hair down. Those girls are actually fist fighting. And some of the team, you know, the girls got into it, too. Then half of each of the parents from both teams go into the field. They have verbal brawl and even physical brawl. And eventually the police had to be called. Both teams were fined and half of the team, of my daughter's team, the other team, were suspended. In all my years of soccer with both my son and my daughter, I have never seen this happen where the girls got into a physical and verbal altercation on both teams. And then the parents went in. It was amen.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah.
Sue Bird
I just wanted to share that story, and I love your shows. Bye.
Megan Rapinoe
First of all, I am coming straight to Mosaic and I am going to see you and we're going to talk about this because. Whoa. Also. Yeah.
Ally
And do you hear how old these.
Megan Rapinoe
Girls are also now that, like I was going to say, I'm older. Pull my hair. I will get in a fight.
Sydney LaRue
I would love.
Megan Rapinoe
Usually how it starts. I would love to, though.
Ally
This isn't the first time.
Megan Rapinoe
And you know, there's been a couple. A couple hits that I've taken that I. I calmed down because of this. This one and the one downstairs. But no, I'm taking her out and also taking her out. But I'm also. We're in a professional league. I think it's a little too much for. For kids.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah.
Ally
And I will say, a lot of the messages we got were about girls sports. And this one, this person wanted to remain anonymous.
Megan Rapinoe
Okay.
Ally
So she said, talking about soccer, parents, I was aging out of comp soccer. So it was years ago. We were beating a team. We had a constant rivalry with A parent yelled, I'll give you $100 if you take her out. And next time I got the ball, I got taken out from the left side straight to my knee and blew it out. The girl got a red card and celebrated getting a hundred dollars. This is the parents fault to me. Like, kids are only going to do this if parents like, this doesn't just come from nowhere.
Megan Rapinoe
That's tough. It's tough because it's always those parents who are so intense and so crazy that their kids never do anything because they can't stand you. That's. That's what it is. Because you push your kids, you take it way more seriously than they do. And you've completely ruined their fun. And because you can't do it, you're putting all this on your kid, and your kid will resent you. I think we've both seen that. Yeah. Many times. But if. I mean, I'm talking about my family and my family only if that was me and I was a kid and I heard that, or my mom heard that, you don't want to be a part of that. You don't want to be a part of that. I. I do think I'm tough. I do think I could put up a fight. But my mom. Queen bitch. Queen bitch. Yeah. 100%. And if it was me and I was. I was a parent and I heard that about one of my kids. No, I am fighting you, and I will go to jail. But I think that's. I think it's disgusting. Yeah. There's no. No place for that. But there is a place in my backyard for you.
Ally
Oh, my gosh. Wait, this person said she's a mom of a 13 and 9 year old. This year, a parent in my son's hockey league got on the ice and shoved two teenage referees to the ground. What is going on?
Megan Rapinoe
Are you not embarrassed? Are you not embarrassed?
Ally
Oh, my gosh.
Megan Rapinoe
It's. That's the thing. That's like what I just said. You are taking it so much more seriously than your kids. This is supposed to be for fun.
Sydney LaRue
This is not gonna be fun for them.
Megan Rapinoe
This is supposed to be for fun. This is kids sports. Okay. I know that this is really hard to hear, but it's like 1% is gonna make it, you know, here. Okay. And you think that beating up two teenagers to be a ref is going to be your moment? No. Because also, people don't know you just screwed it for your kids, too. Yeah. Because. Yeah. People don't realize that.
Ally
Well, send them to us. And we will embarrass.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah, yeah, we'll embarrass.
Megan Rapinoe
Just like, give me the. Give me the number. Give me the name, full name, Social Security day.
Ally
If you have a photo, we'll put it up.
Megan Rapinoe
We will put it up. And I will find out who they are, per usual, and I will.
Ally
You'll do what needs to be done. Yeah, We. We have more stories about this, but thank you to everyone who sent in these. Very unhinged. I mean, pushing down umpires, referees, parents on the sideline. Sid is clearly experiencing all of this herself, as well as a soccer mom.
Megan Rapinoe
Yeah. As we're going through it. Yeah. And I'm also dealing with this.
Sydney LaRue
Yes.
Megan Rapinoe
24, 7. Yeah, 24 7. What do you have to say?
Sydney LaRue
I can take chicken.
Megan Rapinoe
Okay, you take chicken and you put chicken on your lap over there until mommy's done the show.
Ally
Are you going to close this out, Rue? If you're going to be here, you got to, you got to work.
