Sydney LaRue
I never asked this. Are you ever gonna take Lucas's name on your jersey?
Ally Riley
Absolutely not. Absolutely not.
Sydney LaRue
I'm not doing it.
Ally Riley
Do whatever you want. Woo woo larue.
Sydney LaRue
Woo woo larou.
Ally Riley

Ally Riley
It will probably be me. DM me.
Sydney LaRue
You.
Ally Riley
Sid, how was your week? How are you doing? Let us in. Bffr.
Sydney LaRue
Bffr. It's been a good week. I have, like, no complaints.
Ally Riley
Did you do anything out of the ordinary? Anything for your body? Anything for your mind? Shopping.
Sydney LaRue
Shopping is for the mind and the body.
Ally Riley
Yeah, exactly.
Sydney LaRue
No, I actually didn't shop this week. I mean, the week is not over.
Ally Riley
But you know I have your location, right?
Sydney LaRue
Yeah, I know, I know, I know. I just needed a car wash. Oh, right.
Ally Riley
My bad.
Sydney LaRue
No, this week has been really good. Kids are out of school, which is insane. Kindergarten in grade two. Done. And I'm like, where has the time gone? I get so sad when I, like, see you know, how much they've grown and like you can have a full blown conversation with them even though they don't listen. But it was a good, it was a good week. What about you?
Ally Riley
Well, I have been really prioritizing my recovery and taking care of the body as I get closer to returning to training. And I have the best healer on this planet. Her name is Carly. Carly Bindon.
Sydney LaRue
What up?
Ally Riley
You're the best. I love you. You're saving me. She, she finds like my emotional congestion. She clears the heart space. We are breathing, we are yelling, we are crying. The bad energy out the window. Like, it's like, like we do the works. I see her for about two and a half hours. She's like fascia massage, digs in, like, unwinds all of my tension and I I get out of there and, like, have blacked out, but she makes me feel really, really good. You would love it.
Sydney LaRue
No, you know, I'm not into that. You know, I'm not into the woo woo. It ain't for me.
Ally Riley
If you are calling that woo woo, then I am in my woo.
Sydney LaRue
Scream it out. I'm not going to do that.
Ally Riley
What?
Sydney LaRue
No, I don't have anything to scream out.
Ally Riley
I saw you in the bathroom with your cuss words. I think you got a lot in there. You just let it go.
Sydney LaRue
Is that what you do?
Ally Riley
You're like, yes.
Sydney LaRue
Wow. I could do that.
Ally Riley
Yes.
Sydney LaRue
Only for that.
Ally Riley
That's woo true right there. Okay. Woo Woo.
Sydney LaRue
Larue.
Ally Riley
Yes, she's here. Okay, well, we're gonna try something a little bit different. We are going to share our BFFR moments that we've had recently. Because this show is called BFFR for a reason. And these are things just that make us for real. Like, you're like, did that really just happen?
Sydney LaRue
Yes. Yes.
Ally Riley
So I. I know you had a good one from Cash's game this weekend.
Sydney LaRue
Okay, so Cashes had a game this past weekend and we were playing against, like a really big team. Cashus is, you know, he's my little guy, but he's strong and he's feisty. And they were just like, fouling like crazy. The ref, like, stopped the game and, like, was talking to the kids and the kid was laughing and like throwing the ball and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And I'm like, cassius, it's time. I said, get in there. So he got like four fouls towards the end, which I'm proud of him for. But no, it was like the parents almost got in a fight. One of our parents almost got, like kicked off the field. And it was just like, so crazy because, like, if I. If I. If Cash has hurt somebody on the field and he wasn't like, you know, apologetic and like there making sure he's okay, and he turns around and laughs. I'm going on that field and I'm ripping him off of that field and I'm embarrassing the out of him because you don't do that. You don't act like that. That's not how, like, I raise my children. That's not how it goes. And so I was really upset with that because it was like an entire team of that. And the parents are yelling and.
Ally Riley
Oh, so they were fouling all of Cash's teammates.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah, and Cash's.
Ally Riley
And then the parents from his team were like, were talking to the parents.
Sydney LaRue
Of the other team, and it was like they were elbowing kids, and, like, it was insane.
Ally Riley
What did the coach of the other team have to say?
Sydney LaRue
Nothing. He was just sitting there. And then, like, we didn't have any subs, and, like, we were getting crushed in the first half. It was like, four nothing, and we didn't have any subs. And someone went off injured, and the guy kept playing his, like, six. Four players in this 2016 group where I'm like, I don't know about that, but I went up to the mom after the game, and I said, I think your son is really good, but that attitude is so bad. And. And she was like, you know what? I'm so embarrassed. And I was like, no. I felt like I was about to get in a fight. You hate confrontation, and I don't like confrontation. But it was so bad that, like, I couldn't believe that this little boy was acting like this, like, in front of everybody. And she was like, I am so embarrassed. I've never seen him this way. I was speaking to him in Spanish, and I was telling him, like, if you don't stop, like, I'm gonna pull you off the field. She never did, but it's okay. But she goes, I don't know how many times he pushed one of your players, like, in the back and just, like, shoved him down. And I was like, yeah. And then one of the little was telling one of Cassius's teammates, because Cassius ran up to me and was like, mommy, they said the F word to Nino. The kid told him to off what? And that he was a little bitch. And I was like, I'm looking for this number seven.
Ally Riley
Like, I'm eight and nine years old. Yes.
Sydney LaRue
Yes. And I'm like, you should have told me right then and there, because I would have got. Wow. I was. My mother. I was just my mother. Sorry. But, yeah, it was so bad. And I'm like, these kids like, what are you doing? This is supposed to be, like, fun, obviously competitive, but you're doing a little too much. So I was able to talk to the mom. I said, you know, I. I think I know what I'm talking about with. With this game.
Ally Riley
And imagine Sydney LaRue just coming up.
Sydney LaRue
To you, and that's just not how you play it. And that was that.
Ally Riley
Wow.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah, she thanked me, and she apologized, and she apologized to the other parents. It was really like, at least she. She took it on the chest, you know? But, yeah, I would love to hear some, like, crazy stories about that about.
Ally Riley
Like just a soccer parent.
Sydney LaRue
Just. Just a sports parent. I want to hear your most insane stories so we can talk about this next week because I don't know next time if I'm going to handle myself the way that I did, because I was pretty chill, but I was pacing. I was pacing. So that's before. For real, what are we doing?
Ally Riley
Well, speaking of parents, but another generation. My dad and his phone. This is my bffr. I feel like your mom, she knows what she's doing. I see her commenting on stuff. I think so does she.
Sydney LaRue
Because when she posted for my birthday, remember the zoomed in photo of my eye?
Ally Riley
I think that was intentional. And. And Bevlo is. I think she. I think. I think they get it a little bit. My dad doesn't charge his cell phone and then wonders why it won't turn on. And so I'm supposed to take him this week to get him a new phone because his phone never has battery. And I'm trying to explain to both my parents that it is because he does not charge it. He has 1500 apps. He has 15,000 unread emails and about 3,000 unread text messages. So it's a little more of like a junior problem.
Sydney LaRue
So me and John, are.
Ally Riley
You guys have. Between the two of you with your unread messages, he will just always have his phone off. Right. So it's not charged.
Sydney LaRue
Annoying.
Ally Riley
Yeah. And so I can never get through to him. But I have been really trying to connect with him. You know, I always go through my mom. And so I did call him out of the blue and I figured his phone will definitely not be on. And the one time it was on, I call him and it is right in the middle of his choir concert.
Sydney LaRue
Oh, wow.
Ally Riley
And the phone rings. And so then he says, well, this is why I always have my phone off and I don't have the ringer on. So now it's my fault.
Sydney LaRue
Oh, yeah. For sure it is.
Ally Riley
Yes.
Sydney LaRue
How could you. How could you interrupt him in his.
Ally Riley
Right. I know, I know. In his glory. So, yeah, I'm just having a little bit of a frustration about parents and technology. So I have to decide.
Sydney LaRue
Come on. I understand. Your other daughter, she understands.
Ally Riley
Yeah. He's gonna love you for this. But I'm so. I have to really think about if I. If I really want to go and get him a new phone knowing that the same problem.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah. But maybe he just needs to charge it and delete all the apps that he doesn't use.
Ally Riley
I'm so I think I might take him in to. What do they call it?
Sydney LaRue
Genius bar.
Ally Riley
The genius bar. So. And just clear it out. And we also got him a portable battery. But you know what you have to do with that?
Sydney LaRue
You have to bring it and you have to charge it.
Ally Riley
Exactly.
Sydney LaRue
I have about 19 portable batteries.
Ally Riley
Yeah, you do, don't you? Okay.
Sydney LaRue
They're never charged.
Ally Riley
That's. That's it for our BFFR moments of the week. And we would really like to hear yours. So send them in, call them in, email us, DM us, do it all. What's that hotline number, Sid?
Sydney LaRue
1833-898-2337.
Ally Riley
Which is 833 TXT BFFR. Send us your BFFR moments. We'll dissect them and unpack them just.
Sydney LaRue
Like we did today. All right, before we get into the rest of the show, we need to talk about Cachava real quick.
Ally Riley
Oh, my gosh. You know those players who, like, play for 90 minutes, full sprint, tackling everybody, and then after the game, still, somehow still have energy. And I don't mean the teenagers. I want what they're having.
Sydney LaRue
It's not just vibes and talent. It's nutrition. You can't just live off coffee and chaos. Come on.
Ally Riley
Trust me, I've tried. But cachava is a legit game changer. It's giving full body meal shake and it's 25 grams of plant based protein, but without the chalky aftertaste.
Sydney LaRue
I hate the chalky so bad. I'm on the matcha kick right now. Frozen banana, a little. A little almond milk. 30 seconds, you're good to go. You know I don't have that kind of time.
Ally Riley
I know you don't, Sid.
Sydney LaRue
If you're trying to eat better, feel better, and not crash by noon, try one.
Ally Riley
Fuel your game with Kachava. Go to kachava.com and use code BFFR for 15% off.
Sydney LaRue
Your next order. That's K-A C-H-A-A dot com. And use code BFFR for 15 percent off.
Ally Riley
Okay, shifting gears a little bit. It's wedding season for everyone except professional athletes. Because we're in season. But I did have my wedding somewhat recently. And it just made me wonder, Sid, if you could have changed anything about your wedding.
Sydney LaRue
Oh, wow.
Ally Riley
What would it be?
Sydney LaRue
I wouldn't have it, period. Simple.
Ally Riley
Okay.
Sydney LaRue
I wouldn't have it.
Ally Riley
Okay.
Sydney LaRue
Ten toes down. Yeah. What would you change about yours? I mean, it was so beautiful. Aside from the fact that everything California was burning at that time.
Ally Riley
Right. I would have. I would have definitely changed that. But I. You know what is funny is that Lucas and I went from that wedding thinking that everything went totally perfectly.
Sydney LaRue
I knew that it didn't.
Ally Riley
The only hiccup I thought was the pollen, which Sid obviously fixed the pollen.
Sydney LaRue
The bouquet, the bartenders, the drinks.
Ally Riley
We didn't know any of this. And then everyone else is like, it was great, great, great. I think my mom was like, we had an issue with the bartender.
Sydney LaRue
Bartender was busy.
Ally Riley
Yeah. She didn't know what wine was. Had a meltdown. All of this is what we're finding out later. And, yeah, we didn't get the wine out to the tables. The line for the bar was super long. And we had Sid drunk throughout the entire day. And of course, people are handing us drinks, so we had no idea that any of this.
Sydney LaRue
And honestly, I would just go up to the front of the line and just. Sorry rides my story. I gotta. Gotta get drinks for the. For the bride.
Ally Riley
Well, I think besides the circumstances and everyone was very determined to have a joyous occasion. People got really, really drunk because they weren't making the actual signature cocktails.
Sydney LaRue
There was no signature.
Ally Riley
It was just, can you pour some hard liquor into this cup? And so things escalated quite quickly.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah, it really did.
Ally Riley
It really did.
Sydney LaRue
It really did.
Ally Riley
And we found out again, this is. This is. Okay. This isn't something I would do differently.
Sydney LaRue
No, this is like the best story.
Ally Riley
This is just that I was speaking to my aunt and uncle about the wedding, and they were saying, yeah, just maybe you could feed back that the bartender, she really didn't know what she was doing. And we found her just sitting behind the bar during the middle of the reception. And then we found her at the end of the reception making out with your cousin on the basketball court.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah. Hey, love and basketball.
Ally Riley
Love and basketball at the Riley war Nelson wedding.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah, she was too busy to understand how to make the. Make the drinks because she didn't make one. Yeah, it's okay. Yeah, it's okay. So I also think you dealt with, like, every, like, shitty part that happened, every little hiccup. So. Well, and it was me who was pissed off. Like, I was angry, and she was just like, it's fine. It's fine. I'm like, don't worry. I'll deal with it.
Ally Riley
Well, I couldn't find you twice. Just dropping the kids off in the pool, if you know what I mean.
Sydney LaRue
Well, my stomach hurt from all that. Got me a salad, you know, I'm not a salad girl.
Ally Riley
It Wasn't the nine shots.
Sydney LaRue
Could have been with the salad.
Ally Riley
But you also.
Sydney LaRue
I missed out on the entire, like, the entrance to you coming into the reception, because I was taking a. Yeah, I know.
Ally Riley
But I forgive you that.
Sydney LaRue
Love you. And you know, my stomach gets.
Ally Riley
You also took quite a while to get your dress, which was fine. Which was fine. But found the perfect dress. Okay, so she looks amazing. We're all ready to go. We're all squeezed into our. Our dresses. And Sid brought skims for the whole crew. We had just had skims galore. Everyone was trying these little. And I had just. Just had my egg retrieval, so I was worried about you. Every single, every style up to here. Like, I. I had like a low cut dress, so I couldn't wear anything in the back, the high ones. But Sid has this stunning dress. And then we are inside the house about to go down the aisle, starting with the bridesmaids, and a box is delivered to the house by an Uber driver. Who was that?
Sydney LaRue
It was just a box of different dresses in case I didn't like the one because I was questioning it. I'm like, you know, do I love this? And then you're like, it's so pretty. It's so pretty. And I'm like, let me try on some other ones. And then there was a couple pairs of shoes because I didn't know if I like my heels, but I ended up staying in what I was in.
Ally Riley
And how did the Uber driver get your package?
Sydney LaRue
He went to my house, picked up the box that was outside of my door.
Ally Riley
I didn't even know Uber could do this.
Sydney LaRue
And drove 45 minutes to the wedding and dropped it off to me. Bless.
Ally Riley
And then I got that box weeks later.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah, it was still at the venue. I forgot it there. Plus all my clothes.
Ally Riley
Yes.
Sydney LaRue
And my bag. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ally Riley
Other than that, I would say it was the best. It was the best.
Sydney LaRue
It was the best. We were all, like, super depressed afterwards because we just had, like, the time of our life, and we're like, can we not do this every single day? What do you mean?
Ally Riley
We decided to be a little bit less traditional with our wedding. How do you feel about certain traditions? Like a bouquet toss, you know, if you were to do it again, would you toss the bouquet?
Sydney LaRue
I think the bouquet toss is fun. Actually, Sam mus caught mine. It wasn't Tower of Power. No. Like, of course you're gonna get it. You're six' five. But no, I think that that's fun. The, like, Mother, Father, bride dance. I don't really care for. I'm like, doesn't really work for me. So.
Ally Riley
Yeah. So what did you do in your wedding?
Sydney LaRue
I think me and my mom just danced.
Ally Riley
That's really sweet.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah. My mom walked me down the aisle, too.
Ally Riley
Yeah.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah.
Ally Riley
Well, that's another thing. I had both of my parents walk me down the aisle, which I'm seeing more and more for sure. And again, this is our personal preferences. Everyone do whatever you want on your wedding. Like, that is literally do whatever you want. Don't listen to anyone else. But with the father daughter dance, I think at first my dad was a little bit surprised that I didn't want to do it. But I gave that dance to my mom and dad and they were able to just have their moment. And they helped us so much with the wedding. They had been through so much, and to have everyone just standing and cheering them on was so special. And Lucas's mom also passed away when he was younger and didn't want to, like, bring more attention to that. And so that was one tradition that we. We decided not to do.
Sydney LaRue
But it was really cool that it was really.
Ally Riley
That Bev and John got to like.
Sydney LaRue
They had their moment. They wanted that they.
Ally Riley
We didn't know my dad was going to take another moment and sing.
Sydney LaRue
Oh, yeah.
Ally Riley
Get on stage and sing.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah. Yeah. That was good.
Ally Riley
That was an interesting rendition, but it was powerful.
Sydney LaRue
It was coming from John.
Ally Riley
Yeah. Yeah. He held that last note for five minutes. Yes, He. He sure did.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah.
Ally Riley
I also had, like, a very low key bachelorette situation. How do you. What do you think about bachelorette parties? Trips? Like, are we. Are we over it now?
Sydney LaRue
Are we. I don't know. I love a trip.
Ally Riley
I mean, I'd be down. Invite me on it.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah.
Ally Riley
On a basketball.
Sydney LaRue
We're going on a trip.
Ally Riley
Yeah.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah. Vegas, though. No, no, Nothing good happens in Vegas. And that's where I had mine.
Ally Riley
Right. We're not doing anything this.
Sydney LaRue
We're not doing anything in Vegas, but like a nice little Cabo trip with the girlies. Come on. Yeah, Perfect.
Ally Riley
Yeah. Lucas loves to be included in everything. Like, if I'm going on a trip, he's like, but I want to go on a trip.
Sydney LaRue
But aren't you ever, like, okay, yeah, come along.
Ally Riley
Exactly.
Sydney LaRue
I know, I know. It's nice.
Ally Riley
Yeah. I think we would have liked doing something joint.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah.
Ally Riley
All of his friends were in Sweden.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah.
Ally Riley
So they did a little. Yeah, yeah, we're staying with you. Yes, yes. So they did a little something something. And we made rings and. Oh, had drinks.
Sydney LaRue
Wow.
Ally Riley
And I remember that someone sat on my cake and there were penis straws and Lucas.
Sydney LaRue
Lucas.
Ally Riley
Penis and all the things. But it was. It was really sweet to be able to do something last minute at the end of the season because everyone goes off.
Sydney LaRue
Yes.
Ally Riley
Their separate ways. And so.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah.
Ally Riley
The ring making. Sid did not make a ring.
Sydney LaRue
First of all. My ring was the best one there. Until it had to cook.
Ally Riley
Yeah.
Sydney LaRue
Like, it was so nice. I had the C, the R. Cash's rule, you know, and a little diamond. I did the diamonds for their birthstone and then it crumbled.
Ally Riley
It did.
Sydney LaRue
I don't know how, but I was doing it right. So the lady calls Ali.
Ally Riley
Yeah. Yeah. She. She told me that Sid had agreed to do earrings.
Sydney LaRue
I didn't agree to that.
Ally Riley
Instead of a ring.
Sydney LaRue
I didn't agree to that.
Ally Riley
And they look like fillings from a tooth.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah.
Ally Riley
With a little C and a little R and just a little chunk of metal. I. I actually. I still have them because I'll never, never forget. We all have our rings because everyone.
Sydney LaRue
Else has crying so hard and it just went into powder. Just cracked everywhere. I don't think I did it wrong, but maybe she put the heater a little too hot for me.
Ally Riley
Yeah, maybe something like that.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah. You know, what's your thoughts on, like, the matching shirts on bachelorette parties?
Ally Riley
I'm a cheesy gal.
Sydney LaRue
We're both a cheesy gal.
Ally Riley
Bring the cheese.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah.
Ally Riley
I am cheesy.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah.
Ally Riley
And if you want to do something, I will go all in. Full sense.
Sydney LaRue
We both do that. Like, we love a dress up time.
Ally Riley
Yes. And a costume.
Sydney LaRue
Costume. Yeah.
Ally Riley
I really like the idea of finding an ugly T shirt. I was just gonna say one person.
Sydney LaRue
And then the person has to wear it the whole time. And it's like, so bad.
Ally Riley
Yeah. I don't know if we'd get through security because you and I would go real hard on these T shirts.
Sydney LaRue
So bad. Yeah.
Ally Riley
But I think that would be really fun. And I do think it's sweet. Lucas and I love an all inclusive resort. And so we're there with like all these families and people doing big trips or. Or weddings or anniversaries, family reunions. And we love it when a group comes around with their T shirt. Especially now when you can have swim trunks with someone's face on it. The one piece with the, like, the hair. Everything. Everything. We love it. So. No, I'm down. Anything cheesy.
Sydney LaRue
I'm down too. I like a little cheese.
Ally Riley
Yeah. Nothing is too Cheesy and cheese is one of my favorite foods, which is why I could never fully go vegan.
Sydney LaRue
First of all, I never asked this. Are you ever gonna take Lucas's name on your jersey?
Ally Riley
Absolutely not. Absolutely not.
Sydney LaRue
But again, don't come at us because you chose something different that's good for you. Yeah. Me personally, I'm not doing it.
Ally Riley
Do whatever you want. But you did change your last name, but kept Luru on your jersey.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah.
Ally Riley
Explain that.
Sydney LaRue
Well, that was a mistake as well. No, I just was like, yeah, you're not. You're not like, on the back of my jersey. You don't deserve that. But maybe if he was nice, who knows?
Ally Riley
Oh, my God. Okay. But the kids had the last name. You guys all had the last name.
Sydney LaRue
We all had the last name. But guess what? We all have LaRue. Now Rue is Roux. Larue wasn't supposed to be like that, but it's iconic.
Ally Riley
It is very.
Sydney LaRue
So cool.
Ally Riley
And then the dog is Lou. And now you are Woo, woo, woo, woo.
Sydney LaRue
LaRue.
Ally Riley
Yeah. I think in general, I was never planning on taking my husband's name.
Sydney LaRue
Even if he was nice, I would never have.
Ally Riley
I. And with soccer, too. And I. Lucas is opening. Lucas is open to changing his last name. And in Sweden, it's. It's very different. That's not like a. The women always take the man's last name. It's like, who has the cooler last name? Which one do we like? And that's the one we take. Which I think makes a lot more.
Sydney LaRue
Sense why we didn't do Larue from the get go.
Ally Riley
Exactly. Exactly. And so I think that. Well, vulgar, which is really special. And that's Lucas's mom's side. But, I mean, it's like you have a potato in your mouth. V. Exactly.
Sydney LaRue
I kind of like it.
Ally Riley
So you can't really say it. And then Nilsen is. Everyone has last name Nelson. It's super common.
Sydney LaRue
I love Riley. Come on, Ali. Riley. That's just what it is.
Ally Riley
And Lucas. Riley sounds nice, too.
Sydney LaRue
It does. It does.
Ally Riley
So, yeah, I think it is whatever you want to do. And it's.
Sydney LaRue
It's funny hearing personal.
Ally Riley
Yeah.
Sydney LaRue
Decision and the commentators.
Ally Riley
It's funny hearing the commentators when there was this huge shift after the last season because we all have to get married in the off season.
Sydney LaRue
Even me. I'm like, who is that?
Ally Riley
Yes.
Sydney LaRue
And I'm like, oh, she got married.
Ally Riley
It takes an adjustment. I feel like we're like six months into the year, and finally it's like starting to roll off the tongue for people older than a lot of Sophia Wilson.
Sydney LaRue
So. Yeah, different generation.
Ally Riley
Yeah, I know, but. So you're not changing your name ever again. And there you had it.
Sydney LaRue
No, I mean, take mine because mine is a cool last name.
Ally Riley
You, I think you might have the coolest last name.
Sydney LaRue
I really like my last name. I really like my name. Do you like your name?
Ally Riley
I do.
Sydney LaRue
Same.
Ally Riley
I have one of those names that I don't know if anyone notices this out there, but when you say my name, you say my first name and last name, which I think is just a funny thing. Everyone says Ali Riley.
Sydney LaRue
Ali Riley.
Ally Riley
And I've been on a lot of teams where I was only Ali.
Sydney LaRue
But they still call you, but they say Ali Riley.
Ally Riley
And I think it's kind of nice. And it is cute. It kind of rhymes. Ish. Yeah, but that's something. Just a random little thing.
Sydney LaRue
It doesn't rhyme as much as Cindy LaRue number two, but it does.
Ally Riley
Yeah, that's. I just can't compete.
Sydney LaRue
You know that.
Ally Riley
Well, that is enough wedding talk for one day. We probably have to do a divorce episode.
Sydney LaRue
We will soon. Divorce. There's.
Ally Riley
There's a lot there. Well, we're going to pour one out and take it to happy hour. And if you check out our behind the scenes content, Sydney LaRue finally is sharing her recipe for her lychee martini.
Sydney LaRue
What do they call me?
Ally Riley
Lychee Larue. So make sure you check that out and join us for happy hour. We're going to serve up our L's and dubs answer your burning questions as always. So let's start with the high. Sid, what's your win of the week? As she swirls her martini around in her mouth.
Sydney LaRue
Speaking of, this is a first date disaster that I had before.
Ally Riley
Oh.
Sydney LaRue
Me and this guy went to dinner and he. It was like a. We got a coconut margarita and there were coconut chips in the, in the drink. And we're drinking, eating, blah, blah, and all of a sudden he starts going.
Ally Riley
He was really not expecting spitting the.
Sydney LaRue
Coconut pieces out anywhere. And I'm like, what? Imagine on my burrito, first and last date. Yeah. Yeah.
Ally Riley
Oh, my God.
Sydney LaRue
He knows who he is.
Ally Riley
Oh. If you're listening, hope you stop doing that.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah, I hope you've stopped doing that because that was crazy.
Ally Riley
Whoa.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah. But my win of the week is that the kids have finished school.
Ally Riley
Another year of education for the LaRue family.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah. Barely got through a kindergarten. But cashes our little honor roll student oh, yeah.
Ally Riley
Mom, that's amazing.
Sydney LaRue
He's a lot smarter than me, actually. I don't know where he gets it from.
Ally Riley
Yeah, well, do you have a loss then? Because.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah, I do have a loss. The kids are out of school, so it's. It's the same.
Ally Riley
Ah. All day, every day. Huh?
Sydney LaRue
You gotta figure out what to do for the rest of the summer. Yeah. Okay, well, should be your loss too, because I'm gonna drop them off.
Ally Riley
Yeah, yeah, bring him to training.
Sydney LaRue
No, no, at your house. Oh, okay.
Ally Riley
Okay.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah, test it out.
Ally Riley
Yeah, Uncle Lucas, Coach Lucas. He would love that. He's great with kids.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah, he is.
Ally Riley
He'll be a sissy.
Sydney LaRue
Loves him. He's.
Ally Riley
He's down to be a stay at home parent. I think that would be really cool because I like to work.
Sydney LaRue
What about your loss?
Ally Riley
So I was thinking about this story because it didn't happen this week, but since we were talking about the wedding.
Sydney LaRue
Oh, we're going back to the weddings.
Ally Riley
I just. I just have to. This was a. A moment that. It was a BFFR moment and also could have been a pretty funny loss because my dad, again, who never has his phone on, he had his not only his phone on, but GPS on with the audio. As we were leaving the house to walk down the aisle, I'm hearing this voice, left on, turn left on. And I'm looking around. No, you guys are all gone. The wedding planner, everyone.
Sydney LaRue
I'm already crying.
Ally Riley
You're already crying having run down the aisle. And it's just us in the house. No one is there. And then I hear, turn right on Moore Park Road. And I said, dad, is that your phone? And my mom starts swatting at him and just grabbing him and looking in all his pockets. And sure enough, the phone was just.
Sydney LaRue
Like, still trying to get there.
Ally Riley
The GPS was like swirling around going like, turn right on. Like, full volume. So she took that phone and she just chucked it across the room. And then we're going to. Yeah. So that was just a little. A little bonus.
Sydney LaRue
It's a bonus for sure.
Ally Riley
Yes.
Sydney LaRue
John.
Ally Riley
John Riley and his phone. The unintentional theme of this episode. I am loving Thunderbolts. Lucas and I went to see it. It's like, they're the Avengers. They're the new Avengers. Or we love those movies. We haven't been super impressed with the latest Marvel movies, and this one felt like getting back to what we knew and loved about Marvel. So we were really, really into it. Like, I would go see it again, mostly for Bucky. Oh, but also Sebastian, Stan, Jenna.
Sydney LaRue
Have you seen Sinners?
Ally Riley
I know you love Michael B. Jordan. We're fanning ourselves.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah. There's two of them.
Ally Riley
I've heard. I. I've heard. Not my type of movie, but it would feel like I could.
Sydney LaRue
Okay. Oh, it would be.
Ally Riley
That would overcome the kind of, like, gore scary part.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah. Yeah.
Ally Riley
Okay. Must have been a really brilliant performance, Michael.
Sydney LaRue
I stopped by myself.
Ally Riley
Really?
Sydney LaRue
Thank God.
Ally Riley
Okay.
Sydney LaRue
Wow.
Ally Riley
Is there a trend, Sid, that you've been seeing, that you feel needs to go straight to jail?
Sydney LaRue
Oh, okay. So pajamas in, like, the pajama bottoms.
Ally Riley
In public, that's finally gotten to you?
Sydney LaRue
It's been. It's been there since I was in high school, and I'm like, I was just. I couldn't do it. Like, there's just no way you're wearing pajamas outside.
Ally Riley
Do you think they're wearing the same pajamas that they wore to bed? Percent but, like, are you changing the undies? Like, are then. Are you going home and then wearing those to bed again? I have so many questions that would have never allowed.
Sydney LaRue
I am like, you know how I am with. With my bed. No one. Yeah.
Ally Riley
No outdoor clothes.
Sydney LaRue
No outdoor clothes. You need to shower if you ever get on my bed.
Ally Riley
And I respect that. I. I get it.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah.
Ally Riley
So we have questions about the pajamas. Okay. What do you think about this? I couldn't believe this when I saw this. Instead of charcuterie, it's sea couterie, and it's like, assorted seafood and sauces.
Sydney LaRue
Oh, well, it depends. I. I just. All the seafood together, mixing up. I don't know.
Ally Riley
Okay. I'm like, I could do, like, if it's lobster and. And butter.
Sydney LaRue
Lobster, Shrimp.
Ally Riley
But that's a shrimp cocktail, right? Yeah, but I'm thinking, like, fish. Some smoked fish.
Sydney LaRue
And my issue with maybe smoked salmon, but the.
Ally Riley
The fingers and is it, like, with. And the smell and, like, I. I just. I can't. I love cheese, so when I charcuterie, I want the cheese.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah.
Ally Riley
I want, like, a little bit of jam.
Sydney LaRue
I could do a. You know, I love lobster.
Ally Riley
If it is a lobster coutery.
Sydney LaRue
Lobster coutery, yes. Yeah. But sea cootery with all the different things. No.
Ally Riley
Yeah. Not for me.
Sydney LaRue
It's not for me.
Ally Riley
I don't know if it's jail status, but it's. It's not for me.
Sydney LaRue
No.
Ally Riley
And if I just, like, also, it's.
Sydney LaRue
Gonna be, like, sitting out for a while. Not gross.
Ally Riley
Right. Exactly. So let's stick with the charcoe boards, please.
Sydney LaRue
Love A star. Love a star. Sarkucci.
Ally Riley
Love a Sarkucci. The Sharkuchi. Okay, well, you know what we have to do before this is last call, baby.
Sydney LaRue
Last call. Let's listen to these questions.
Ally Riley
Okay.
Sydney LaRue
Because I heard they're good, so.
Ally Riley
I love this part.
Sydney LaRue
So do I. It's my favorite part of the show, actually.
Ally Riley
Your voicemails, your DMs, just unhinged confessions. Please hit us. What have we got this week?
Sydney LaRue
Hit us. Hi, guys, it's Ariah. And my question is, what is, like, the best piece of advice you've gotten from a teammate or a coach or even like a quote that you've gotten when you were younger that stuck with you today and that you still use today? Thanks, bye.
Ally Riley
I wish I had something super profound, but I just wish that I had been willing to make more mistakes when I was younger. I was really, really afraid of to mess up. That's probably some other trauma that I need to unpack. But I just think for a young player, a young person in general, if I had reshaped the act of making a mistake, to be willing to try something new, willing to push myself and challenge myself. And I do think that coaches and teachers, they do recognize that and parents do as well. But I think if you just get stuck in this kind of. Yeah, you have to be perfect all the time. So this isn't something that anyone said to me, but it's something that I wish that had been ingrained in me or I wish that someone had told me more. Like, it is okay to make mistakes and that it's how you react to the mistake, learning from it and how it impacts you moving forward. I think is. Is the key.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah. Yeah, I like that. I think we were all terrified of making mistakes when we were younger, and that probably like, seeps into how we are now.
Ally Riley
Yeah.
Sydney LaRue
You know, it's like this level of perfectionism that you have to, like, be at at all times. It's funny because, like, that is how this is how I used to play. And like, I guess I still do because I'll always have that. But one of my coaches was like, you play better with a chip on your shoulder. And I'm like, because I have to fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for everything. And I just, like, got to the point where I'm like, I don't want to play with a chip on my shoulder. Yeah, I want to play free.
Ally Riley
Yeah.
Sydney LaRue
I want to play just because I love it, not because I have to prove myself.
Ally Riley
Yeah, that's exhausting.
Sydney LaRue
35 years sis 35 years. And I just think, like, just being able to be me and, like, do the things that I'm good at without, like, feeling like, oh, you have to prove yourself that. You have to prove to everyone that you're this person, you're the player that everyone says you are. So you got to prove that at all times. I don't think that I play like that anymore, and I don't ever want to play like that again. I just want to play free. So I think playing free and, like, like Ali said, make mistakes. Mistakes are the best. Like our best teachers. So, yeah, play free, make mistakes, screw up every now and then, but also when you screw up, like, like you said, how do you react? Yeah. Because if I do a bad pass or. Or if I, like, screw up in a game, like, I am hustling and I'm, like, trying to get the ball back if I lose it.
Ally Riley
And that's, I think, what your teammates notice and remember, especially as a forward, I think you've made a huge impact on all the teams you've played on because of how you work back. And I don't remember if it's because you lost the ball. I just remember that you fought your slack to go and get it again. Yeah.
Sydney LaRue
Yeah. Because I think you trust me with the ball. If I. If I lose it, then I need to get it back.
Ally Riley
And we're all gonna lose the ball sometimes.
Sydney LaRue
We are.
Ally Riley
