How do I build more energy? How do I get more money? That's not the first question.

If you've ever felt like your attention is scattered, like your energy is depleted, like you're reacting to your life instead of creating it intentionally, this episode is going to be a game changer for you and me. Today's guest is Dandapani, a Hindu priest, entrepreneur, and former monk who left a career in engineering to spend a decade in a monastery. Now he teaches global leaders and some of the biggest athletes in the world how to use your mind to change your life.

What's the most powerful thing you've ever seen happen from someone who truly obsesses on focus? Welcome back to the Big Deal podcast. I'm Cody Sanchez. We are growing like crazy, you guys, and we realized over the past few weeks that most of you don't actually subscribe to the show show, which is crazy. So if you could do me a favor and double check that you're subscribed, that would mean so much to me. I've been obsessed with making this show something that makes your life better, and this helps us do exactly that. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you. All right, let's jump in. What is the three stripes?
Dandapani (1:17)
It's monk wi fi. Good signal to God. Three lines, one line. Not so good.
Cody Sanchez (1:24)
Really?
Dandapani (1:24)
No.
Cody Sanchez (1:25)
Just kidding.
Dandapani (1:26)
So in Hinduism, there are four sects, and I belong to the oldest one. And we wear ash representing the three line. First line represents ego. So a lot of times in spirituality, they say you should not have an ego. In the philosophy we subscribe to, we believe everyone has an ego, and the goal is to cultivate a positive ego. So someone who's kind, who's compassionate, who has empathy, industrious, charitable. So that's the first one. It's not get rid of ego, but cultivate a positive ego. And the second one has to do with karma, which is the law of cause and effect, that every thought, word, and deed has a repercussion. So that's 50% of karma. And if you can control your thoughts, your words, your actions, you can control a lot of the outcomes. The second half of karma is your reactions. So if you came up to me and said, you know, Dandapani, your shawl is ugly, I could choose to pinch you or say, what a great opportunity to go shopping. And how I respond also determines my outcome. So by Controlling how we act and react. We determine so much of our outcomes in life. And then the third one is delusion, meaning that quite often in life we get distracted with the things and people that are unaligned with our priorities. So always bringing our focus back to who and what matters. Understanding that life is finite and, you know, it's easy to get distracted with things.
