And I think that kind of stirred up a little beef. That's when I went to a movie by myself.

Well, your family's one of your relatives. Your brother lives in Italy, your sister lives in California, your mom lives and dad live in D.C. so basically, we

I have every family member that lives within 20 minutes of this.

So, yeah, that was a big fight. I totally remember we were living on Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica in that apartment, and we weren't talking. And then Bill came home, and from the movie, he went by himself. You know, it's bad when you go to a movie by yourself.

First time I've ever done that.

[Juliana Rancic]

Yeah. Cause I wouldn't, you know, the significant other won't go. And I remember you came in and I was, like, looking out the window, like, at the ocean, all, like, mad. And you go, so you're just not going to talk to me? And I wouldn't answer. And you asked a few things, and then I didn't say anything. And you go, well, you're going to have to start talking to me because you're stuck with me the rest of your life.

That's right.

You don't seem happy about that.

No, I mean, that's just fact. I mean, it was pointless. You know, you're going to.

And now here we are, 20 years later, and I always feel like no matter how crazy things get, we'll always work it out. Like, even right now. I'm not gonna lie. Things are tense in our household.

We've been going through some shit.

Well, we were half an hour late. I'm like, we gotta go. We gotta go. And you're on the phone talking to your sister about something that's happening in a month and a half. So, like, we have the whole team in la. We've got everyone waiting for us. So, yeah, I am a little. I find it disrespectful to be 30 minutes late. And you're talking about something that could wait till later today to talk about. So personally, it reflects me when we're both late, because then I look like their time isn't as important as mine.

All right, I'm not making excuses. We would have been 10 minutes late, which is still not acceptable, but better than 30 minutes late, if we hadn't run into a couple of old friends on the street. Two different groups we saw. And it wasn't the type of friends that you can be like, oh, my God, like, we're so late to something. We'll see you later, though. One person is a family we used to be friends with that we haven't seen in years. They now live in Nashville. And then the other one was my hairstylist. And of course, I got. You know, we always got to chat for a few minutes, but I did try to cut that one short. And you actually said, we gotta go. So, yes, that was my bad. You're right. And I was talking to my sister.

There were other people maybe that could have done well. Definitely there were other reporters that could have done the interview. And I was like, no, no, I got to do this.

Could have been married to Jason Kennedy.

You could have been Ryan Seacrest.

I know. I'm trying to think of, I don't

know any of the girls who were on with you at that time.

Well, back then. Yeah, I know. There weren't a lot.

It was all you and Jason and Ryan Right.

I know it was a lot of guys. And so I said to Maureen Heaton, God rest her soul, remember Maureen?

I love Maureen.

[Juliana Rancic]

Maureen, great lady, was our assignment editor at E. News for years. She was the most amazing. Like, literally kept that newsroom running, honestly, was a huge.

[Bill Rancic]

She was so hardworking.

[Juliana Rancic]

Factor in the success of E. News, especially the glory years back then. That was Maureen. She was an amazing. She ran the whole newsroom. And unfortunately, she died young of cancer, which was devastating. But Maureen loved you, too.

[Bill Rancic]

Yeah.

[Juliana Rancic]

And she and I loved the Apprentice, and we loved you. We had the same taste in guys, Maureen and I, truly. And so she goes. I go, maureen, you know, Bill Rancic just won the Apprentice. I think I should go interview him. I'm a fan of the show. And she goes, I think he's cute, too. And she said, go get him, G. And that was it. Yeah. And so she and I used to joke when we got together that she made it happen. Cause she gave me that assignment. But anyway, so yes, to answer the story, to answer this question, I definitely pursued G. You. Because you did not know he knews, right? Or are you. Were you lying back then?

And I think that's important because you can't do it alone. You gotta surrender at times and hand it over to the big man.
