Foreign here. Welcome to the latest edition of Looking out for you. Let's get started. Now, I know a lot of you don't care about the media, and a lot of you hate it. Very few people love it, that's for sure. You know, you're walking around, oh, I love the media. No, Maybe the local weatherman or sportscaster or something, but the media has really destroyed itself hating Trump. It's a very simple equation. But what's very striking about what's happening now, and we're going to start off with Howard Stern, is that this is self imposed. Yeah. Trump doesn't like the media, and he goes out of his way to sue it and browbeat it and diminish it. Yeah, but if the media were fair and had a lot of allies, that wouldn't work. So Howard Stern and I go back to Boston university in the 1970s, and we're at the School of Communication Comm. At the same time. And I didn't know him socially. I was a master's degree student. He was an undergrad. But I knew him because he was the only guy in school taller than me. And he had this fro. And he walked around and, you know, but he and I didn't really cross paths there very much. I was on the newspaper. He did a little radio work, that kind of thing. But we're both terriers. That's Boston University terriers. He was also brought up on Long island, as was I. I was in Levittown. He was in, I think, the South Shore, kind of a tough neighborhood. And Howard was roughed up and had a, as he describes himself, a pretty tough childhood. And he became, along with Rush Limbaugh, the biggest radio stars in the history of this country. Dwarf everybody. There's nobody close to Stern and Limbaugh about success. Money generated. And they did it by being bombastic, both of them. Different styles. Stern was a satirist and Limbaugh was an activist. Conservative activist. Different styles, but they both appealed to the working person, the person listening to the radio in a car, commuting into work or whatever, both guys had appeal in those areas. Okay, so Howard Stern was basically very entertaining, and that's why he succeeded. Where a guy like Al Franken who tried to do Radio Air America, he was boring, not entertaining, a doofus, whatever you want to say. And he failed dismally. Stern was funny, and he poked power. Poked power. Poked power. Limbaugh poked left wing power, not right wing power. Stern poked everybody. But you could tell that Stern was on the side of the Working people and against the elitist, the wealthy. That changed, okay? And he became a Hillary Clinton supporter. Donald Trump was on his show a lot, and I guess they were friendly at one time. And he turned against Trump. Stern did. And a lot of people went, whoa. And he said bad things about me, Howard Stern. So I don't even know this O'Reilly. Was he turning around and telling everybody we went to college and. Okay, a lot of people don't want to own up. Knowing me, I understand. But it got to the point where it was just not true. So I did an interview with him on December 8, 2005, which I used on my current television broadcast, the no Spin News. Rollette. We're both raised in working class families on Long island. Okay? Stern and O'Reilly, we both wind up at Boston University at the same time. That's right. We're terriers together, okay? We both reached the top of our professions. 10 million in one shot for me. 800 billion in one shot to me. And we had a nice conversation about it. But now his ratings on Sirius have gone into decline and it's not hard to figure out why. So when you go against the MAGA hordes. Millions, millions. What? Almost 80 million people voted for Donald Trump. Big audience to alienate. And you're hanging around with the swells. Jennifer Aniston, these people. So I'm pretty consistent. I go for working people. I always have. I don't strut around like I'm some big shot hanging around, even though I know all the famous people. And my audience has stayed with me. But Stearns has not. And it's because of his leftist movement. He went left and there aren't enough of them, not enough progressives. And that's what happened to them. Now, there was another interview that backs up this theory that if you go ideological, it's bad for business. So the Washington Post. I got into journalism because of Woodward and Bernstein and Watergate. I was just enthralled by that, and that's why I got into being a reporter. Now, the Washington Post is a left wing magazine and it has lost an enormous amount of readership. The stats are unbelievable. So it's a 61%, 6 1% decline in subscriptions, print subscriptions in four years because they hate Trump. And that was the subject of their fact checker going on a podcast. Roll it.
Washington Post Fact Checker
There was a lot of effort to produce a story that would look very carefully at what seemed to be a cognitive decline. It never came together because we couldn't get enough people on the Record.
Interviewer or Commentator
Glenn, Glenn, do you know that. Do you know the moment where Joe Biden spoke to a dead congresswoman at a public event? You familiar with that moment?
Bill O'Reilly
Yes. Yes. Yes.
Interviewer or Commentator
Okay. What kind of sourcing did you need to say? Joe Biden was suffering cognitive decline? Did you see him trailing off regularly? What kind of sourcing was needed?
Washington Post Fact Checker
I can't get too deep in the weeds of what happened at my former news reporter.
Interviewer or Commentator
You weren't in all the meetings, but you read the coverage. You read the coverage.
Washington Post Fact Checker
I'm telling you, there was a lot of effort to produce the story.
Bill O'Reilly
That.
Washington Post Fact Checker
You are asking for and it didn't come together.
Bill O'Reilly
Embarrassing. Man won't tell the truth. Everybody in the Washington Post newsroom, including him, knew that Biden was in decline and couldn't run the country. Everybody. And he's the fact checker. We need sources. We need sources, okay? So that kind of deceit is not good business. You're not going to make money throwing that kind of garbage gibberish out there. Just admit it, you hated Trump. The Post wanted the Democrat to win and didn't care who the Democrat was. Just admit it. Maybe you have some respect. It's unbelievable. And just so you know, this went to the highest levels. Bob Woodward, I just mentioned no Watergate guy. He's written five anti Trump books and Trump cooperated with him on. So I used to, I said to the president, why, you know that Woodward is going in to cut your throat? Why are you talking to him? Why are you giving him ammo? He goes, oh, I think I can persuade him. I said, look, he's got to put a book proposal forth to get the money, the advance money. He's got to tell the publisher, I'm going to get Trump on X, Y and Z. He's not going in saying, oh, I'll be fair sign how you get book contracts. You don't have to be unfair, but you got to tell them what you're going to do. Here's Woodward, go.
Caller or Guest
What do you think Trump's end goal is in all of this? In the sledgehammering the government tariff, putting tariffs on our allies like Canada. Like, what is the, what is his big end goal as president?
Bill O'Reilly
Well, his end goal is, and it looks like he wants to destroy the economy. And that is a very dangerous undertaking. Yeah. So Trump was to destroy the economy. He gets elected, he goes, you know what? First thing I'm going to do is destroy the American economy. Why? Why would he do that? He wants to go down in history as one of the Great presidents. So this is just you talk about dementia. Okay? When the press gets dementia, it loses everything it does. You can't sell a product that is that flawed. You can't sell French fries if they taste like liver. And Stern had an audience, a big audience turn way away from. Didn't explain it. And then Bob Woodward in the Washington Post. Oh, yeah. Trump wants to destroy the economy. Come on, are you 8 years old? You know, I give credit to the American people. When you see a phony, you know a phony. When you see a bad product, you walk away. And that's exactly what has happened with the American media. So New York City's debt, $104 billion, and you pay tax. I pay tax on everything. Admission to New York City, 25 bucks. You got the congestion pricing, got tolls. You got everything you want to park. 50 bucks an hour, whatever it may be, crazy tax on that. Tax on everything. Okay, so how can we be a hundred and four billion dollars in debt? Well, because we have incompetent administrations that don't care about the money. So the New York City Debt has increased 50% from the year 2010. 50%. Okay. That's almost all under progressive leadership. De Blasio, Adams, you can't do it, guys. You can't keep doing this. You're gouging everybody because you don't pay attention. You don't care about taxing, you don't care about costs at all. You can't tax anything else. There's nothing else left. Okay, so now we hear that a hotel in New York City called the Row R O W was used to house migrants who came to New York City illegally. Okay? And then they were bused here by the Biden administration. And New York City paid The Row Hotel $170 million to shelter these illegal migrants. That's our money, you and me. Did anybody care? No, they didn't care. Those undocumented folks should not have been allowed here in the first place. But New York is a sanctuary city and has been for I don't know what Bloomberg. I don't think Bloomberg cared about it, but I got to check it. But certainly de Blasio and Adams. Hey, come on. Come on in. We'll give you everything because we don't care about it. We have $104 billion debt, and you're never going to pay it off in a million years. And anybody buying New York State paper, bonds, things like you are out of your blanket mind to do that. And under Trump, the city's not going to get federal money much at all. And Hochul have no idea up in Albany what to do or how to do it. States in debt as well. Now, we all know about the violence and it's not fair because most of the undocumented migrants are not violent criminals. They're not doing things to harm other human beings. That is true. And it's wrong, morally wrong for people to brand them as criminals as far as dangerous actions are concerned. I mean, it is a crime to cross illegally into this country. I've heard it a million times. But it's a civil crime. If they made it a criminal crime, you would have, you wouldn't have this, what we have now, because then people would be detained and sentenced to a number of months or years in the penitentiary. It's the federal system, but they don't. And then the Biden people, you know what they did, which was one of the worst, probably the worst, presidential policy in the history of this country. I can't think of anything worse than that. But anyway, the row hotel, they got all that money. They're closing it now. They're throwing the migrants out. They're not there anymore. I don't know where they all are, but Adams says they're in shelters or this. They're that. You can assume that the city is still paying for their welfare and the state of New York as well, you'd assume that it'd be really hard to track it down. A lot of undocumented migrants live with relatives who are here and all of that. Now, I am not one of those restrictionists and I don't want to punish everybody. I want to be fair. Biden made the mistake. You can't undo the mistake he made. But I would be very aggressive in deporting anybody that has a civil or criminal violation on the sheet, like drunk driving, anything like that. The others are just going to have to adjudicate them in a fair way. That's up to Congress to spell it out. So that's where we are. And, you know, I hope we get a decent mayor next time around. I guess Curtis. Curtis would be the guy that I'd have to vote for. I don't live in New York City. But the others, they just don't rise for me. New poll about politics pretty early. The mayoral polling is not going to matter until the end of September. This is Siena College, up by Albany. Decent poll, but Hochul, the governor is up for re election in 26 and a lot about her. So do you approve or disprove of the job? Kathy Hochul is doing as governor. Approve. 53, disprove. 42. I do not believe that is true. I don't believe 53% of New Yorkers approve of the job she's doing. And I'll back it up. Okay? The backup is, if Kathy Hogle runs for reelection in 26, would you vote for her or someone else for her? 35. Someone else. 53. So come on. Come on, Siena. If 53% approve of governor, why would only 35% vote for her again? How? Hello, how are you? No sense. State is the highest taxes in the union. Everybody knows that crazy mayoral candidate Mandani in New York will collapse the city. Hogle hasn't endorsed him, but Hogle hasn't condemned him. We have traffic like no one else on earth has. Traffic can't get a handle on is a hard state in which to live. And we don't see any criminal justice reform from Kathy Hogle. All right? We have violent people running around all over the place. Does she care? Doesn't seem so. Now, there is one thing here, there's another question. Do you have a favorable or unfavorable opinion of Hochul? Favorable, 42. Unfavorable, 44. I think that's because she comes across as nice, at least, you know, compared to Andrew Cuomo's Darth Vader, you know, with the big black hat on. Darth Vader. Then Ogle comes across and say, look, I'm just a regular person. And I think she is. I've spoken to her a few times. I don't think she's some dastardly politician. I don't think she's miscourageous. But I think she, you know, sees herself as a progressive who's doing good, you know, all of that kind of stuff. Final question. Elise Stefanik, Congresswoman, Republican, coming up, got 31%. A Hokul 45, year and a half away. She could make some noise, Stefanik. She could. Decent debater. Pretty sharp view of life, in my opinion. So she could do some damage, I think. Remember Lee Zelda? Not exactly. Mr. Charisma almost beat Hochul. And the only reason he didn't was African Americans in New York City came out. I think it was 8 to 1, 9 to 1 for Hochul. And if that, you take that vote away. Hochul, Zeldin, Baxer. Now, you got the same thing with Elise Stefanik. She'd have to go into those precincts. The way to do that is through the churches, the black churches in New York City and convince these People that she's not trying to hurt them, that she wants to help them. If you're a Republican running a so called, you got to do that. Because New York City is primarily where the votes are. So Long island and upstate New York, most of it not Buffalo or Rochester, but the rest of it, as they're red, they don't want this progressive madness anymore. But New York City's minority vote overwhelms that. And that's what we're seeing in the mayoral race too. And I think that something's got to happen between Adams and Cuomo. And you would think with the polling that Adams would hang it up, that drop out, and then the people that support him that are between 15 and 20% would go to Cuomo and he beat Mandami. That's what I think is possible. I'm not predicting it, but it's possible. Because at this point, Adams has no hope. Even with good improving crime statistics, he doesn't have a lot of hope. People aren't buying him. And there's a number of reasons for that. There's hysteria in New York City on this new poll from Siena. We did it yesterday, a little bit. We did a little more tonight, but the hysteria is mounting because of Zoran Mamdani. And in this poll, he has 44% will vote for him, 25 for Cuomo. Curtis Lee with 12 Adam 7. Okay, do I believe that? No. Could I be wrong? Yes. But I don't believe the poll. The people backing Mandani are activists. They're jazzed. They want to destroy the structure of New York City. They can't afford to live here. They don't want to compete, whatever it may be. Okay? They want somebody to come in and blow it all up. And that's what Mandani is promising to do, blow it up. 44% of New York City voters want that. No, I don't believe that. The problem that Mandani has is that if Adams drops out, and I believe he will. All right, because you can't sustain a 7% number. He's not even getting matching funds. I mean, people don't want him back. That'll go to Cuomo and that'll tighten it. But according to this poll, not enough. Sliwa is doing pretty well. Okay. And he's the Republican, but it's six to one, registration Democrats over Republicans, something like that. So Curtis has got a really, you know, last six weeks got to be everywhere. Like Paul Revere is saying, hey, there's danger ahead here. But anyway, I don't think that half, almost half of voters in New York City want to blow up the system. And that means policing, transportation, everything. Total anarchy on the street. If Mandami gets in, 33 years old, can't run the city, can't run his own life. Okay. I mean, it would be a catastrophe. Maybe that's what it's going to take. It hit rock bottom so that New York straightens itself out, both city and state. I mean, just today the idiots in Albany said, oh no, we're going to push back a little bit on this crazy stuff that gives criminals a tremendous advantage in their cases. So they modified a little bit of this stuff because so many cases are being thrown out because the prosecutors couldn't get it together to present the evidence. And boom, they were gone. It's like the guys who jumped the two cops in the Bronx. Was that now closing on two years, they're not even in court yet. It's. Come on. So anyway, look, I'm going to tell you now the truth about New York City. And maybe you're not going to like to hear this. The only way this city can be run is with discipline. And that means a strong man as mayor. That is the only way. A Trump esque person doesn't have to be. Trump doesn't have to believe what Trump believes, doesn't have to do that. But it has to be decisive. It has to be, here's the problem and here's how we're going to fix it. And we're not going to feel sorry for violent people. We're not feeling sorry for drug addicts who are going to be on your property ruining quality of life. We're not feeling sorry for turnstile jumpers. We're not feeling sorry for everybody who is cratering this city. They are going to be held responsible. We're not going to accept foreign nationals in the country illegally. That costs the city hundreds of millions of dollars. All of that's going to stop. And the police department is, we're going to add to it. It's going to be a disciplined department. It's not going to be out there brutalizing anybody. But they're going to make arrests. And if the DA doesn't want to prosecute the arrest, then the police union is going to step up every week and say, here is who is not prosecuted. Exposure is the best example. You need a strong man or woman to run this city, not these ideological goons in it for themselves. My God, I hope the city survives. But it's even money right now. Many People know, but not all that. The Trump haters, mostly progressives, but some on the right, like Ambassador John Bolton, people like that. They are trying to link President Trump to Jeffrey Epstein in a criminal sense that has been going on now for more than a month. Okay, maybe two. And everything that Trump does, these people say, oh, he's trying to divert away from Epstein. Well, if you look at a factor case as I have, there's really nothing to divert away from. And this story is going to roar back into action in September when the House Oversight Committee has subpoenaed a lot of people involved with Epstein, including Bill Clinton, who has a lot of risk. And Clinton's not a well man. That's a tough one. Anyway, Americans themselves are tired of this drumbeat. And how do I know that? Well, CNN has a guy named Harry Enten, all right, he's their data analyst. And here's what he said about the Epstein story a few days ago.
Harry Enten
I would say that this is from at least a political point of view, quickly turning into a dud of a story. What am I talking about here?
Bill O'Reilly
Which is wild, which is wild. Which is. This has been for three weeks.
Harry Enten
Exactly. Take a look here. Google searches for Epstein down 89% versus just three weeks ago, falling through the floor. It is no longer the top term searched alongside Donald Trump's Nate. That's been trading off between Taros and Vladimir Putin with obviously the meeting coming up later this week. But at this particular point, the American people's interest in this story, it's quickly becoming something of a nothing burger.
Bill O'Reilly
Okay, I don't know about nothing burgers, but I know people are sick of it. Now, some facts, those are always good, right? Facts. So Epstein was a heinous criminal, there is no doubt about it. And what he did was exploit minors in a sexual way. Now, he was convicted of that 2008 and he got a sweetheart deal in Florida because he was a rich guy. He bought his way out and that's disgraceful. On 2019, July 6, he was arrested by the FBI in New York City and charged with a federal sex trafficking chart. Okay, so this is number two beef on him and he's guilty. I mean, people lined up to testify against him and he knew he was going to get life probably in prison, so he killed himself. And that happened A month later, August 10, 2019, he hang himself in his jail cell. All kinds of conspiracies, we don't do that here. I will tell you that. The prison, federal prison guards knew he was a high risk guy. They didn't care, I'll tell you that for sure. Did they help? No, I don't think so. They didn't care. All right? A year later, his girlfriend, whatever you want to call it, Ghislaine Maxwell was arrested and convicted in 2021 on federal charges trafficking a minor. She got 20 years. Now, this is what's in play now, okay? And she should have gotten 20 years. 20 years is fine. And I don't think President Trump will pardon her. I hope he does not, because that will really hurt his legacy if he does. There's no doubt about it. This is a heinous woman. This is a terrible woman. This woman deserves to be in prison. We're all clear on that. Okay? So the problem blew up when Donald Trump was elected for a second time. He came in, he said, we're going to be transparent. We're going to release Kennedy files, which they did. Martin Luther King Jr. Files, which they did not, and Epstein files, which they have not. And then the Attorney general, the new one, Pam Bonding, says, oh, I'm looking at it on my desk right now, but I haven't seen anything that I didn't know about. But that opened the door, okay? And the door was, oh, we want to see all these files and we want to link the Donald Trump to Epstein. So while Clinton took about 17 trips on Epstein's plane, and two people have testified that Clinton did go to this island in the Virgin Islands where all these terrible things were happening. Now, that has not been established beyond any reasonable doubt, but there are two people, one of whom is the top assistant to Bill Clinton. Band is his name Doug Band? I told Vanity Fair, yeah, I was there with Clinton and we were with Epstein on that island. Okay, Just reporting what's on the record. I don't know, it wasn't adjudicated. But the hate Trump brigades progressive left saw an opening. Let's make it a fact, even though we don't have any facts, that Trump committed a crime with Epstein. That was the strategy. And the media, of course, just let it roll. Didn't matter about evidence because the Trump administration didn't release all the so called files. When I talked to President TRUMP On St. Patrick's Day of this year, he didn't have any trouble. He said, we're going to put it out, we'll redact the names. We don't want people getting crushed here. That had nothing to do with it. But he wasn't alarmed. I mean, I was talking to him one on one about it, but that never happened. I don't know why. Nobody knows why. Nobody. So the House Oversight Committee now is going to subpoena a number of people and this is going to be unbelievable because this will reopen the Epstein story. So August 18th, coming up fast, Trump, Attorney General William Barr, he's coming in. Then Alberto Gonzales with attorney general under Bush. So this is the Bush Obama transition in 2008. Jeff Sessions, another attorney general in Trump. Robert Mueller, former attorney general under Bush. Loretta lynch, attorney general under Obama. Eric Holder, AG under Obama, Merrick Garland AG under Biden. All these people are being called into Congress to testify what they know, what they saw, what was handed to them. Then it shifts into James Comey, head of the FBI, fired by Trump. Then Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton. Now, my sources tell me a lot of these people are going to take the Fifth. They're not going to testify. That's a huge story in itself. I can't imagine Bill Clinton testifying and he's not in good health. As I said, this is boy. So this is the ultimate irony. Trump can't be called because of executive privilege. He's not going to be involved with this. But a lot of Democrats, big time Democrats, are being called testify about what they know about Epstein and under oath. That will reignite the story, but not in the way that the Trump haters want because the focus will reshift. Trump took, I believe, eight trips with Epstein, mostly back and forth between New York City and Mar a Lago, where both had homes. But Trump was not on the island, according to all of the evidence and reports. Taj never went to the Virgin Islands on it, but I believe Clinton did. But I could be wrong on that because I'm going by hearsay testimony. Doug Band, Vanity Fair and one of the victims under oath. But still, it's hearsay to me. But to wrap this thing up, the importance of it is way beyond Epstein. It's let's try to destroy a president of the United States, Trump, by innuendo. Which is failing. And now it's kicking back into it looks like other people might be destroyed that the progressives like. Pretty interesting, huh? It's amazing that karma turns that way sometimes. Foreign. Recurring Motif:
Bill O’Reilly’s August 17, 2025 episode is a caustic diagnosis of what he sees as media self-destruction via ideological extremity and dishonesty, exemplified by Howard Stern, The Washington Post, and handling of both the Trump and Epstein narratives. He connects these trends to the broader social and fiscal dysfunction in New York City, warning that only strong, pragmatic leadership—not “ideological goons”—can restore order and prosperity. At every turn, O’Reilly emphasizes facts, audience trust, and the hidden consequences of elite-driven ideological crusades.
