Thank you, Bill. It is Friday, August 1st. You heard that right, August 1st, 2025. Here's what's happening today in America. Deadline passes arguing to the appeals court. Major turbulence and massive ballroom. It's all coming up. And Bill's gonna be here with your message of the day. But first, President Trump issued an executive order yesterday increasing tariffs on many countries around the world. But they will go into effect in seven days, not today. As was anticipated, some countries facing very high rates. Laos, Myanmar at 40%, Syria at 41%, 40% on Brazil. This is all on top of the 10% baseline tariff. So, I mean, some of these countries are at 50%. Trump announced also a new 35% tariff on Canada and a 25% tariff on India. The countries not listed in the executive order have a 10% tariff. That baseline tariff. Trump also said that United States of Mexico has agreed to extend their current tariff agreement for 90 days. Meanwhile, a federal court of appeals asked questions to the government's lawyers if the president even has the power to impose tariffs at all. The 11 judges on the U.S. court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit heard arguments in the Trump administration's appeal of a ruling from a trade focused lower court that found the president did not have the authority to hit foreign nations with 10% tariffs under what's called the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. But who now is denying the incredible things that have come from them? Major turbulence on a Delta flight from Salt Lake City to Amsterdam, service carts flying in the air, passengers hitting the ceiling. The they had to make an emergency landing in Minnesota. 25 people were taken to the hospital. One passenger said, I truly thought the plane was going down. Someone said, I was lifted out of my seat for 30 seconds. One woman said there was a little girl across the aisle who was terrified. She's screaming, we're going to die. We're going to die. I was trying to keep her calm, but I really thought we were going to die. Someone said after we got off the plane, we kissed the ground. Delta took us to the Delta Lounge, got us hotels, rebooked our flights. Who was brave enough to get back on a flight? The president has officially announced the construction of a new 90,000 square foot ballroom in the White House. Construction will begin in September. It is objectively stunning. It's white and gold with touches of red in the ceiling. It can fit 650 people to host major head of state gatherings. James McCreary is the classical architect based out of D.C. he's the CO founder of the National Civic Arts Society. He was chosen by President Trump to design this new ballroom. It's just perfect. A lot of people on the left saying, who's gonna pay for this? According to the White House, President Trump and other donors have committed to donating all of the funds necessary to build the new White House ballroom. I'm Mike Slater. I have a podcast called Politics by Faith. The great Bill O'Reilly has your message of the day next.

Bill O'Reilly
That is one perfect combination. Burgers deserve Pepsi. Time now for the O'Reilly update. Message of the day on this Friday. It is August and vacation time is upon us, but not for President Trump. I understand he did plan to take two weeks off in August, but not now. I could be because of China. It's got a lot of tariff stuff going on. Putin is a lot on his plate, as everybody knows. But for you and me, we got to take a little time off, right? Because if we do not, we become mentally exhausted, cranky, not as efficient as we could be. Now, a lot of people, they think they have to do all kinds of stuff on vacation. Now if you have urchins, yeah, they're gonna want to go to the amusement park and Disney World or to the beach or they're gonna want to have fun and to be kind as a parent, you gotta play into that. But if you don't have dependent kids, you don't really have to do that much on vacation to get a lot out of it. I take four or five books and I read, I would say, a significant amount of time. I take entertaining books, books I know are not going to be boring. Right. Also, I go in the ocean. I'm a former lifeguard, water safety instructor. I like the ocean. I paddle around, ride in a few waves, whatever it may be. But I'm not out there hand to hand with orcas. I'm just kind of bobbing around. I take it easy. That is the best kind of vacation and I hope you have a good one. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me billoriley.com billorilly.com name in town if you wish to opine. Now, let's go to the mail. Marty, your immigration recommendations are common sense, something D.C. does not have in either party because each tribe is trying to subvert the other camp into capitulation. Yes, you're right. I mean, they're using the immigration thing to try to get votes, and we all know that. But I'm glad you pointed it out, Marty. Yvonne, though impressed that you come up with solutions to America's problems. Other journalists review the issues, but they don't have any solutions. To me, that places you a step above the others. Thank you, Yvonne. Look, I didn't spend all that money to get a master's degree from Harvard in public administration just to go on and say, we'll see. Whenever you hear a pundit on television go, we'll see, that means they don't know anything. They don't know anything they're trying to get out of whatever they're doing. Go, oh, we'll see. What good is that? Put forth something. But as Yvonne rightly points out, few do. Sally Pershing, Omaha, Nebraska, President Ford pardoned President Nixon. Why does President Obama have immunity? Is not even in the same ballpark. Sally okay, Nixon was going to be charged with criminal activity. The Justice Department is not going to charge Barack Obama with a crime at this point. As I said, if a whistleblower would emerge and say President Obama did this and ordered that the phony Russian collusion be put out, then he's in trouble. But if he just presided over a meeting discussing the situation, that's okay, according to the Supreme Court. In a moment, something you might not know.

Now the O'Reilly update brings you something you might not know. The summer season is mainly associated with outside sun, fun, surf, all that. But it's also the time when Hollywood releases its biggest films of the year. From outer space, the giant sharks here are the greatest summer blockbusters of all time. Raiders of the Lost Ark, the 1981 debut of Indiana Jones, earned $350 million worldwide. Next, Disney's the Lion King. The animated tale is actually a retelling of William Shakespeare's Hamlet. Total box office hall 400 million. Wow. Star wars the Phantom Menace. Though the movie is officially titled Episode one It's actually the fourth film of the franchise. Despite terrible reviews, the movie made $600 million worldwide. Jurassic park, the dinosaur flick cost 68 million to produce. Earned 750 million worldwide. Number six, Return of the Jedi. Global ticket sales $1 billion. The top five starts with Endgame. Superhero movie was the first to break the billion dollar mark during its opening weekend. Number four, Alien. The 1979 horror classic features Sigourney Weaver, Tom Skerritt and a nine foot tall space creature who is not friendly. Since its release, Alien has spawned nine sequels and four TV shows. Also 50 video games. Third place on the movie list, Jaws. I saw it the other night on TV. The movie sparked a global hysteria surrounding sharks. Second spot goes to E.T. the Extra Terrestrial. Total sales 2.3 billion. The biggest summer blockbuster of all time. The original Star wars film costs 10 million to make. Very inexpensive. Total ticket sales to this moment, 3 billion. And here's something else you might not know. Most of these movies came from the minds of two men. Steven Spielberg and his close friend George Lucas. Back after this. She's made up her mind to live pretty smart, learn to budget responsibly right from the start.

Mike Slater opens the news segment by discussing President Donald Trump's recent executive order aimed at increasing tariffs on various countries. Judicial Challenges
Slater highlights the legal challenges to Trump's tariff imposition, where the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit is questioning the administration's authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. White House Ballroom Construction

Designed by James McCreary, a classical architect and co-founder of the National Civic Arts Society, the ballroom will feature a white and gold aesthetic with red accents and accommodate up to 650 guests for state events. Critics on the political left questioned the funding, but the White House confirmed that President Trump and donors would cover all costs.
