Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the O'Reilly Update. Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater.

Thank you, Bill. It is Monday, March 23, 2026. Here's what's happening today in America. Ice to the rescue, opening up the straight. Grab the ballots and Kilmar almost out of here. It's all coming up. Then Bill's gonna be here with your message of the day. But first, TSA officers calling out sick this weekend as the Democrat Shutdown continues. Over 3,250 officers called out just on Saturday. That's 11.5% of the scheduled workforce. It's not every airport where we have massive delays. I blew through national security in two minutes. But there's lines in airports across the country like I've never seen before. Lines through baggage claim lines, through the parking garage. But here's the solution from our president. He said on Monday ICE will be going to airports to help our wonderful TSA agents who have stayed on the job despite the fact that the radical left Democrats who were only focused on protecting hardline criminals who have entered our country illegally, are endangering the USA by holding back the money that was long ago agreed to with signed and sealed contracts and all. Sean Duffy says that ICE agents are trained and can assist with airport security. ICE has remained funded and their employees paid because of the one big beautiful bill. The president issued an ultimatum to Iran and said that if the straight of Hormuz is not opened within 48 hours, the United States will obliterate Iran's, quote, various power plants. The president said, starting with the biggest one first, over 20 countries issued a joint statement where they condemned the attacks by Iran against unarmed civilian shipping vessels and Iran's attack on oil and gas infrastructure throughout the region. The countries that finally signed up, Australia, Bahrain, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, South Korea, Romania, Slovenia, Sweden, UAE and the United Kingdom. They said, which is obviously true, that all Iranian actions blocking the straight of Hormuz are against international law. The sheriff of Riverside county in Southern California has seized more than half a million ballots from the last November election. He also happens to be the leading Republican candidate in the governor's race. He sees the ballots from the last election. This was Prop 50. This was on the ballot initiative that allowed the governor to redraw congressional districts. He said the investigation is simple. Physically count the ballots and compare that result with the total votes recorded. The governor candidate said that a couple months ago a local group did their own audit and found that the county vote was in inflated by 45,000 votes. The Trump administration says they're finally ready to deport Kilmar Abrego Garcia. There's only one order from a district judge stopping the deportation. He was going to be deported to El Salvador, but he claimed he would be harmed by local gangs. So the Trump administration said fine. If this judge gets out of the way, he's on his way to Liberia. Time now for the O'Reilly update. Message of the Day on this Monday. I was in Washington, D.C. last week. Don't really like the town that much. It is much better that Donald Trump has put the National Guard on the streets and uses the federal agencies to fight crime. It was out of control under Muriel Bowser, the civilian mayor. Remember that the District of Columbia is run by the federal government. It's not a state, not a territory the feds administer. And President Trump said, I'm sick of the crime, so I'm going to put federal law apparatus in place. And it has worked to a great extent. But the town itself is full of opportunism. Everybody's on the hustle. In New York City, it's about money. In Los Angeles, it's about showbiz and projects and meetings and all that kind of stuff. In D.C. it's about power and people use other people to get power. I don't like that. That doesn't sit well. I like genuine people. If you need something, let me know. If I can help, I'll try to help. If you're a good person, don't talk to me. If you're a bad person. But D.C. and I'm generalizing now, it's a big political hustle and it gets very old. Another cliche very fast to me. So New York's got beaucoup problems, very tough place to live. But I'm much more comfortable there than in D.C. i'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me, Bill, at billorilly.com billoriley.com name in town if you wish to opine now, let's go to the mail. Renee Murray, Bowie, Maryland. How is it the President Carter created the Department of Education executive order, but Congress must be the ones to dismantle it because Congress incorporated Department of Education into the budgetary process. Carter could have just created it and then Congress said no, not giving you any money. It's not what Congress did. Once it's in the budgetary process, then Congress has to dismantle it. Bureaucracy. Hello. Barry Cowan, Colwyn, Idaho. Bill, you often mention your ability to research issues. My wife and I are longtime watchers and premium members because we have learned to trust your reporting. That said, could you help us find resources we can use in our own research that we can trust? I can help you, but you have to be a concierge member, not a premium member. Now that sounds a little cold and callous, and I don't mean it to. So here's the difference. You're a premium member and you get all the access to our website on billoriley.com everything there you get because some of the stuff on there is a firewall that the public can't get. Public can see my columns, public can see my messages. But a lot of the other things they can't. You can. If you upgrade to concierge status, then you can write me about any research you want, anything. And within 24 hours, boom, I will get back to you with a roadmap. That's why this program has been so successful, because you never know when you're going to need information, solid information and a snap. You can get it from us. Where you would spend hours and sometimes you would never find it if you weren't a concierge member. To billorily.com in a moment. Something you might not know.

Now. The O'Reilly update brings you something you might not know. 251 years ago today, an American patriot delivered a rousing speech in Virginia. There, he issued one of the most iconic lines in US History. Give me liberty or give me death. Here is the story of Patrick Henry. Born near Richmond, Virginia, young Patrick worked as a farmer, writer, and eventually an attorney. He rose to prominence by taking legal cases that challenged British authority. Beginning in 1765, the English Crown began imposing draconian taxes on the colonists, first on stamps, then tea, lumber, even sheets of paper. In the next decade, revolutionary fervor swept through Massachusetts and New York. But places like Virginia with a history of aristocracy and wealth were reluctant to join the budding revolution. On March 23, 1775, local leaders held a convention at St. John's Church in Richmond. The men gathered to discuss the issue of independence. While many opposed any conflict with England, Patrick Henry argued for the creation of an armed militia. Said Henry, quote, is life so sweet it is to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery. Forbid it. I know not what course others may take, but give me liberty or give me death. As he concluded the speech, Henry plunged a fake knife toward his chest, according to a local newspaper. The delegates sat in stunned silence. And here's something else you might not know. Patrick Henry's words actually swayed the convention. A militia was created for the defense of the colonies. One year later, the Founding Fathers published America's Declaration of Independence. For his patriotism, Patrick Henry was appointed the first governor of Virginia. He died there on June 6, 1799, from intestinal problems. Patrick Henry was 63 years old and died a patriot. Back in a moment.
