Mike Slater
Thank you, Bill. It is Thursday, May 29, 2025. You're listening to the O'Reilly Update. Here's what's happening today in America. Another Biden controversy grows. AOC targets ice. A majority of voters view both parties unfavorably. And a new study reveals how badly Americans are addicted to smartphones. It's all coming up. Then. I will be back with your message of the day. But first, a nonprofit organization now claims that Joe Biden was seemingly unaware of multiple presidential orders, including key decisions on climate change. The pro energy group Power the Future is arguing that several policies were implemented using the presidential auto pen. An auto pen is a device that physically holds a pen and is programmed to replicate a person's signature. The Justice Department determined 20 years ago that the president is permitted to use an auto pen to sign bills into law. The question, of course, is how many of these bills were signed without Joe Biden's knowledge and who was in charge of that auto pen? Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, again calling for the abolishment of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency. The New York congresswoman wrote in an email, I believe that ICE, an agency that was just formed in 2003 during the Patriot act era, is a rogue agency that should not exist. By the way, that's technically true. But prior to ice, there was just a different federal agency that was in charge of deporting people. It's called the Immigration Naturalization Service, ins. And they just did the same thing. They just consolidated that with a couple other things into one system. But anyway, the White House responded, the brave men and women of ICE get dangerous, criminal illegal immigrants off our streets and protect American citizens. Why does AOC want to stop that? A new poll from Gallup showing a majority of voters hold a negative view of both political parties. 70% disapprove of Democrats. That figure falls to 50% for Republicans. Historically, Americans have been more positive towards the Democratic party than the GOP. Since 2009, the average favorable rating for liberal politicians has been 45% compared to 40% for conservatives. Now it's 70% disapproval for Democrats. Coming up in the final segment here, we'll talk about one aspect of the one big beautiful bill, and we'll see how this goes. And if the Republicans want to become an even more popular party, new study published by FOX News shows the typical American checks their smartphones 96 times a day. That's on average once every 10 minutes. It's even higher for teens and young adults. The poll also shows 80% sleep with our devices less than 2ft from our heads. One day we'll find out that's not a very smart idea. The Maha report that was just released by Health and Human Services says that young kids spend nine hours a day on their phones. I'm Mike Slater. I have one more O'Reilly update for you before Bill comes back on Friday. That's next.

Slater filter for Bill O'Reilly. Now it's time for the O'Reilly Update message of the day. This must have been difficult for the New York Times to print or they aren't aware at all of what they did. That's funny, too. Someone wrote of this article. The whole article is a must read for the comedy and artful opacity. It's a tour de force thread the needle exposition how this cruel, horrible bill might actually stop the thing that we always insist absolutely, positively no way in heck ever happens. This article in the New York Times is about how the one big beautiful bill cuts welfare spending for illegal aliens. But I was told my entire life that illegal aliens are not on welfare. New York Times administration officials have said they would root out Illegal aliens who are living in federally subsidized housing. The Agriculture Department has ordered states to enhance immigration verification practices used to determine eligibility for food stamps. And Alice, Republicans just passed a tax bill that would limit certain immigrants access to Medicaid and Medicare and federal financial aid, among other benefits. The actions amount to an aggressive attempt to curb immigrant families use of safety net programs. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I was told that never happened. I had it on good authority from the elite, the media telling me my entire life that illegal aliens can't sign up for social safety net programs. So how can this be an aggressive attempt to curb something that doesn't even happen? New York Times. 12% of American children, or about 9 million people are citizens with at least one non citizen parent. 9 million anchor babies. Children with at least one immigrant parent are twice as likely to live in poverty as those with native born parents. I've been told that illegal aliens pay more in taxes than they gain in benefits. No. Here it says they're more likely to live in poverty. If approved by the Senate, the package would boost the child tax credit to as much as $2,500 but limit its availability to parents with Social Security numbers. I was told that you could only ever get the child tax credit if you were a citizen yourself. But the New York Times here says current law allows children who have Social Security numbers to receive the benefit even if their parents only have individual taxpayer identification numbers which are issued to non citizens. Huh. The package would also bar those immigrants from receiving subsidized health insurance on marketplaces set up by the Affordable Care Act. I was told the effort to target immigrants could create a chilling effect. I love this. So I. Every day I see an article with a point like this. The effort to target immigrants could create a chilling effect, making people hesitant to enroll for benefits over fears that their family members could be deported if they share their information with the government. Yes, that's the point. Some expert says even if you're eligible and you can get those benefits, you're also letting the state or agency know that there's an unauthorized immigrant in your household. Yes, that's the point. This article here confirms two things long denied by Democrats and the media. First, that individuals here illegally receive government benefits. And two, that it's the anchor baby who secures those benefits. In other words, the jig is up. Something you might not know. Next.

I'm Mike Slater filling in for Bill O'Reilly. Now it's time for something you might not know. We have a little bit of a victory from the one big beautiful bill. It's a, it's a bit preliminary because it's still got to go to the Senate, but I think it's still worth a golf clap little golf club. The morning that the one big beautiful bill was passed by the House last week, the Green New Deal still in it. So let's back it up a little bit. When the inflation Reduction act passed in 2022 by Joe Biden, all the Democrats, they said out loud that it's really just a big Green New Deal program, largest investment in green infrastructure in world history, whatever. No Republicans voted for it, which is good. Trump and the entire Republican Party ran on terminating the Green new scam in the 2024 Republican Party platform. The very first section is called Unleashing American Energy. And the very first sentence says that the Republican Party will terminate the socialist Green New Deal. But in the one big beautiful bill, up until the morning it passed the House, there was still near complete funding for it. The Green New Deal was a trillion dollars in spending for green projects. 400 billion was already spent. 600 billion was still yet to be spent. The bill as it was, would allow people to get subsidies for the entirety of Trump's term, new subsidies, and then those subsidies would continue to be doled out beyond the year 2040. Total. Nonsense. Absurd. But enough people made noise and some good people in Congress took it out. So as it officially passed the House and was given to the Senate, now it's up to them. But the new plan is that if you want any of the new Green New Deal subsidies, you have to begin construction on your project within 60 days from the passage of the bill. And you have to be making electricity by the end of 2028. But it's that 60 days thing that's going to be a tough hurdle for a lot of people to climb. It's not perfect, but the green lobbyists hate it. So there's something good. Now it's up to the Senate and there's a lot of good senators who want to cut spending way more. Now we'll see how much they can cut because it's got to go back to the House. The one big beautiful bill passed the House 214, 213 to 1. The only reason this passed by one vote is because one of the Democratic congressmen died just a couple days before the vote. That's how close this is. So we'll see how much more the senators can cut because it does have to go back to the House. Charles Cook said a good bill would say this 2017 tax cuts are permanent. The 2022 Inflation Reduction act repealed in full. That's all we really need. The closer to that we get, the better. More next.

Episode: The O'Reilly Update, May 29, 2025
Host: Bill O'Reilly
Release Date: May 29, 2025
Speaker: Mike Slater

The episode kicks off with Mike Slater addressing ongoing controversies surrounding President Joe Biden. A nonprofit organization, Power the Future, alleges that Biden may have been unaware of multiple presidential orders, including significant decisions related to climate change. The group contends that these policies were enacted using a "presidential auto pen"—a device that replicates the president’s signature.
Notable Quote:
"A nonprofit organization now claims that Joe Biden was seemingly unaware of multiple presidential orders..." – Mike Slater [00:39]
The Justice Department had previously determined that presidents can legally use an auto pen to sign bills into law. However, questions arise about the extent to which Biden was personally involved in signing these orders and who managed the auto pen’s operations.

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) continues her push to abolish the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency. She criticized ICE in an email, labeling it a "rogue agency" established during the Patriot Act era in 2003. AOC argues that ICE should be disbanded due to its operations.
Bill O’Reilly interjects to provide context, noting that before ICE, the Immigration Naturalization Service (INS) handled deportations. The consolidation into ICE in 2003 did not eliminate deportation activities but streamlined them under a new agency.
Notable Quote:
"I believe that ICE, an agency that was just formed in 2003 during the Patriot act era, is a rogue agency that should not exist." – Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez [00:39]
The White House responded defensively, praising ICE for removing dangerous and criminal illegal immigrants and protecting American citizens. O’Reilly challenges AOC’s stance by pointing out the historical continuity of deportation efforts under different agencies.

A recent Gallup poll reveals a significant decline in public favorability towards both major U.S. political parties. Specifically, 70% of voters disapprove of the Democratic Party, while 50% hold a negative view of the Republican Party. Historically, the Democratic Party enjoyed higher favorability ratings compared to the GOP, but the current numbers indicate a troubling trend.
Notable Quote:
"A new poll from Gallup showing a majority of voters hold a negative view of both political parties." – Mike Slater [00:39]
The poll highlights that since 2009, the average favorable rating for liberal politicians stood at 45%, compared to 40% for conservatives. The drastic rise to 70% disapproval for Democrats signals a potential shift in the political landscape, suggesting that reform may be necessary for both parties to regain public trust.
